series masterlist! | next part!
part one: “strangers and scrimmages”
paige's pov
being seventeen in minnesota meant two things—snow way too early and hoop dreams big enough to melt it.
hopkins had already become home to my name. three state titles. a mcdonald’s all-american nod. coaches calling with offers, although my heart was already committed to the university of connecticut. i knew the pressure was heavy. but i liked it. thrived in it.
being back on team usa junior national team felt exciting. a room full of killers, and i already knew who’d be there. azzi fudd. caitlin clark and one name i’d seen on social media more than once—
“ivy carter”
a quiet new yorker who has smooth game. handles like butter. a little mystery to her, but already making waves.
i remembered seeing her at usa tryouts. she was laser-focused, barely even looked around. i was the same way. but now? we’re both here. same team. same red, white, and blue gear. no distractions—until she checked into a scrimmage, and i couldn’t take my eyes off her for some reason.
it wasn’t just that she was pretty. which she is.
very pretty actually.
it was the way she played. smooth, controlled. unbothered. she didn’t force it, and still, she dominated. i watched ivy’s team win the scrimmage, and i couldn’t stop myself—my legs already walking over.
my heart was kinda beating fast for no reason. it’s whatever. just going to give her compliment, right?
“yo,” i said, giving her a nod, half-cocky, half-nervous. “you killed it out there.”
ivy blinked, surprised, then smiled—barely, but it still hit.
“thanks. you’re paige, right?”
“yeah,” i chuckled, rubbing the back of my neck. “that obvious?”
“a little,” she said, eyes sharp, but soft. “appreciate you watching.”
“how could i not?”
she raised a brow, but before she could respond, my name got called. my turn to hoop. i gave her a little smirk, “you better watch too. i got something to prove now.”
she laughed—quiet but real—and i jogged off to the court like i hadn’t just blacked out mid-convo.
ivy’s pov
i felt paige’s eyes before i saw them.
team usa junior basketball was the biggest thing i’d done so far. i was grateful. hungry. nervous as hell, but trying not to show it.
growing up in new york city wasn’t easy.
i grew up in a two-bedroom with my mom and three brothers. youngest of the bunch, and the only girl, which meant i had to learn how to hold my own early. the city didn’t care if you were tired. it didn’t care if you were scared. it taught you to be sharp. to keep your head down and your handles tight.
my first hoop was a milk crate nailed to a streetlamp pole. i used to dribble with gloves on in winter just to keep my grip sharp.
i’m not sure where i’m going for college, but the goal is to make into the wnba, so i never have to see my mom struggle again.
so no—i wasn’t about to come all this way and fold under pressure.
when they called my name for the scrimmage, my heart kicked up. not from the pressure. from noticing how many eyes were watching as i walked on the court, one specific pair of eyes watching me from the corner.
paige bueckers.
paige is a player that everyone talks and knows about. state champ. highlight reel regular. confident, but not cocky. at least not in person.
and yeah. she’s pretty. stupidly so. tall and strong with sharp blue eyes that never missed anything. but i didn’t have time to be soft about it. i was here to prove myself.
my team won the scrimmage. barely. i was outta breath, trying not to keel over when i saw paige walking toward me.
“yo,” she said, voice smooth but chill. “you killed it out there.”
i blinked. she was way taller up close. i could notice a sense of awkwardness. maybe nerves?
“thanks,” i said. “you’re paige, right?”
she looked almost shy when i smiled, but i probably was reading too much into it.
“that obvious?”
“a little. appreciate you watching.”
“how could i not?”
and that? that line made my stomach turn in a good way.
she was called next, and gave me a look before heading off.
“you better watch too. i got something to prove now.”
i did watch. and the reality was that paige didn’t have to prove anything. the way she played was... different. like she didn’t need to try hard, but still made it look effortless anyway.
“white girl can hoop,” a voice said beside me.
i turned. azzi fudd. we’d talked on instagram a lot over the past year, but this was my first time meeting her in person.
“you’re not wrong,” i laughed.
“you were cold too,” she added, nudging my arm. “kinda been waiting to meet you.”
“same,” i admitted, grinning. “it’s crazy to be here tho.”
“it just started, but i already feel like we’re already in full tournament mode. wait until travel weeks start. i’m sure we will miss when all we had was scrimmages instead of practices later down the line.” azzi joked.
we kept talking, but i found myself glancing back at her, paige—especially after her scrimmage ended in a win and she walked off like she knew it.
azzi caught it.
"you good over there, carter?" she asked, grinning. "or should i give you two a moment?"
i rolled my eyes. "what? no. i was just—watching the game."
“uh-huh." she nudged me with her elbow. "real intense basketball watching."
i laughed, but my face warmed. "okay, chill. she’s just... fun to watch. from a basketball perspective."
"right. from a basketball perspective," azzi said, dragging the word out like she didn’t believe me for a second.
paige looked my way, just for a second. her face shifted—like she hadn’t meant to—but then she turned away.
paige’s pov
i wasn’t watching them. not really.
i just… noticed.
ivy and azzi were standing off to the side, still in warmups, deep in conversation. ivy laughed at something—head tilted, eyes squinting a little. she nudged azzi’s arm like they’d known each other forever. it was easy. casual. comfortable.
i looked away before ivy could catch me staring. shook it off. but the curiosity lingered.
later, when on the bus on the way to the hotel, i leaned over toward azzi, pretending to scroll through something on my phone.
"so how do you know ivy?" i asked, trying to sound casual.
azzi side-eyed me like she already knew what i was doing. i’ve known her three years now—long enough that she can read me without even trying.
"instagram," she said, not missing a beat. "we’ve been following each other for, like, a year now."
"oh," i nodded, not sure what i was expecting.
"yeah, she’s cool. funny. smart. tough. why?"
i shrugged. "just curious."
azzi leaned back in her seat with that smug little smirk. "you always get curious about new teammates this fast?"
i kept my eyes on my screen. "i was just asking a question."
"mhmm." she folded her arms. "you were looking at her during the scrimmage like she was a basketball god.”
“i wasn’t," i muttered.
“right.”
i glanced over, finally cracking a smile. "you done?"
"not even close," she grinned almost as if she knew something i didn’t. “but i’ll leave it alone for now.”
✦ ✦ ✦
ivy’s pov
training wrapped for the day, and after a long bus ride, we finally pulled up to the hotel. everyone piled into the lobby, tired but restless, waiting for coach to announce who we’d be rooming with for the next few weeks.
"carter, you're with bueckers," coach said, eyes still on the clipboard.
i blinked.
from the corner of my eye, i caught azzi smirking at paige. then i looked up—just in time to catch paige already looking at me.
we locked eyes.
she looked away first. so did i.
cool.
when we got to the room, it was quiet at first. the light buzz of the ac and our footsteps on the carpet.
paige dropped her bag, then turned to look at me. “so uh... the bed.”
“what about it?”
“you got a side you prefer?”
i smiled. “left. but i’ll take the floor if you snore.”
“i don’t snore,” paige said quickly, then looked panicked. “i mean—if i do, i don’t know about it.”
“sure, superstar.”
i rolled my eyes, but smiled, tossing my hoodie off and flopping onto the bed.
“guess we’ll find out.”
authors note : okay roomies??? also yes miss azzi fudd is in this ofc. she plays an important part throughout this series. tune into part two to see what happens next 😚.

Introducing You To His Friends
word count: 897 || avg. reading time: 4 mins.
pairing: Ushijima x chubby!Reader (feat. Shiratorizawa™)
genre: fluff
warnings: none
request: watching Nightmare Before Christmas with some caramel popcorn dressed as a traffic cone with Ushijima || fluffy, going to a Halloween Party with boyfriend Ushijima
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone in Shiratorizawa was buzzing about the upcoming Halloween party and the volleyball team was no exception. They decided to really go big this year and that meant bringing their partners. Or well, Ushijima would bring his girlfriend since everyone else was single as a Pringle - besides Semi, but he didn’t know which girl to bring so he decided to go stag. None of them had ever met you, since you went to a different school, and only knew of your existence because of the many rumors (mostly started by Tendou) that floated around the locker room.
The party took place in the empty gym, devoid of the usual bleachers and volleyball nets, with the basketball hoops now serving as part of the decoration with plastic skeletons stuffed into them. Since Shiratorizawa was a prestigious boarding school, costumes were exchanged for fancy dress, however, the gym more than made up for the lack of creativity in clothing.
Your hand felt clammy as Ushijima led you through the baffled crowd, but your boyfriend didn’t let go for even a moment. Not only did the socially inept captain bring a date but you were definitely not what anyone would have expected. Much shorter than him, sure, but the pudgy tummy was definitely a surprise. So were the generous thighs that never stopped touching as you rounded the swimming club and headed straight for the buffet tables where the volleyball team was fighting over the last korokke. As your heart threatened to leap out of your chest, you gripped Ushijima‘s hand a little tighter, and with his returning squeeze, he let his steadiness wash over you. You were as cool as a cucumber by the time you came to a halt next to a young guy with black hair who must have gotten into a fight with his hairdresser recently.
“Team, I have arrived. And as promised, I have brought my girlfriend.“
The boy next to you choked on his soda and a tall, gangly redhead who could only be Tendou from your boyfriend‘s descriptions leaned in, his hand stretched out. He was the only one wearing a costume - an elaborate Victorian vampire with styled back hair, the plastic fangs giving him a slight lisp, “So we finally meet, heh? Call me Satori. Ushiwaka‘s best friend in the entire world.“
You shook the boy‘s hand and smiled shyly at the rest of the group.
“I‘m y/n. It‘s very nice to finally meet all of you. Wakatoshi told me a lot about you.“
“I have?“
He hadn‘t, Tendou was the only exception, but you thought it would be the polite thing to say. You exchanged a puzzled look with him and then were mercifully saved by the black-haired boy who, after handing you a bottle of ramune, asked, “So, how did you two meet?“
You recounted how you had been out walking your dog and having smelled the empty power bar wrapper in the pocket of his sweats, the ever-hungry Labrador had pulled his leash out of your hand to run after Ushijima calmly jogging through the park. To apologize you offered him a cup of coffee, he accepted and that was that.
Tendou brought both hands to his face and wiggled from side to side like seaweed in a wave to express his delight.
“N’aww, aren’t you two just the cutest?”, he said sweetly.
A short silence joined the friend group, then moved on when Semi, with much hesitation between each word, asked, “So, how did… you two uhm… how did you agree… to become boyfriend and girlfriend?”
No one judged the setter harder than Tendou. He said, with a comically raised brow suggesting something completely obvious, “I think you just have to check a box somewhere like on the General Terms and Conditions.”
They held each other’s eyes, one challenging, one pretending not to be embarrassed.
Meanwhile, you furrowed your brow in confusion. (Just maybe you and Ushijima got along so well because you both didn’t exactly excel at reading social situations well.) You tried to find a way to reply but when you stumbled over the words a little, your boyfriend gently placed a hand on your back to stop you. He knew his team members and so was confident enough in his assessment of the situation to suggest, “I think, they’re making (dramatic pause) a joke.”
But the vampire wasn’t about to let this go. If there was a chance to bully Semi, it had to be done. “Them’s the rules” according to him.
And so, absolutely nailing his impression of the setter, Tendou asked, “So, what’s your favorite position?”
Semi (despite his better judgment) and Reon hid their snorts behind their snack plates, Goshiki turned as white as the sheet ghost dangling on the wall above the buffet and Shirabu clicked his tongue in annoyance at the middle blocker’s usual shenanigans.
“My… uhm…”, you stammered, your cheeks hot with blush.
“I’d also like to know.”, Ushijima said, turning to you with serious curiosity but after a moment added, “Is it setter? Outside hitter? Libero?”
Tendou clawed at Semi’s shoulder to suppress the manic laughter rising in his chest but took him and Reon down with him.
The three boys ducked away to calm down, while you used the opportunity to pull Ushijima to the dance floor as he still listed further possibilities of team positions.

Thank you so much for the request, I always adore writing for Ushijima! I hope you enjoyed it! 🌟

opposites attract!
summary: u and soobin have been in a relationship for a year! ur friends are wondering how u even made it in this far with ur constant bickering. but u know what they say, opposites attract!
genre: fluff, established rs
characters: bf!soobin x f!reader
words: 6.8k
warnings: nothing much
“Shotgun!” Taehyun shouts the moment he steps out of the apartment, earning a groan from Beomgyu, who’s already leaning against the car door. Kai, as usual, stays out of it, casually climbing into the back seat while the rest of you fight it out.
Calling your seat in Yeonjun's car was almost like The Hunger Games, a survival for the fittest.
“Taehyun called it,” Yeonjun says, already in the driver’s seat. “Rules are rules.”
“The rules are stupid,” you grumble, glaring at Soobin, who’s standing way too comfortably by the passenger door.
“There’s no way I’m sitting in the middle again,” he declares, crossing his arms. “You know how tall I am? My knees barely fit in the back!”
“You’re 6’1, not a basketball hoop,” you snap, shoving him lightly. “Kai and Beomgyu have legs too!”
Kai shrugs, already buckled in. Beomgyu, meanwhile, is no help at all, busy filming the argument for what’s definitely going to end up on his Instagram story later.
“Ugh, fine!” Yeonjun groans from the driver’s seat, drumming his fingers on the wheel. “You two are always fighting anyway—just sit on Soobin’s lap. We don’t have all day.”
“What?” you and Soobin exclaim in unison, but the group doesn’t even pretend to entertain protests.
“Why can’t Beomgyu sit on Soobin?” you ask, crossing your arms with an indignant huff. “Why is it always me?”
"You're his girlfriend." Kai sneers.
"That doesn't mean I want to sit on him!"
Beomgyu perks up, pretending to consider it. “You know, that’s not a bad idea—Soobin is comfy.”
“Absolutely not,” Soobin interrupts, glaring at him. “I’d rather walk to the park than have Beomgyu anywhere near me.”
“See? He wants you to sit on his lap,” Taehyun teases, smirking as he adjusts his sunglasses.
“This is ridiculous,” you mutter, but under the weight of everyone’s stares (and Yeonjun’s increasingly impatient groans), you give up.
Climbing into the back seat, you wedge yourself awkwardly onto Soobin’s lap. His arms come up instinctively to steady you, his chest warm and solid behind you, and you swear you can feel him smirking.
“This is so stupid,” you mumble, crossing your arms.
“Yeah, but you’re weirdly comfortable,” Soobin whispers back, just low enough for only you to hear.
“Don’t push it,” you grumble, though your cheeks flush slightly as Soobin chuckles, the low sound reverberating in your ear.
It was hard for anyone to believe that the two of you were actually dating. A solid year into your relationship, and yet the bickering never ceased—every outing, every hangout, every single day was a new battle of wits and sarcasm. Some found it downright exhausting, while others, like Beomgyu, found it endlessly entertaining. He often referred to you and Soobin as his “favorite sitcom.”
“Can you two ever go a day without fighting?” Taehyun asks from the front seat, adjusting his seatbelt as Yeonjun maneuvers the car around a sharp turn.
“That’s just how we communicate,” Soobin replies, leaning back with you still perched begrudgingly on his lap.
“It’s not communication,” you retort, twisting slightly to glare at him. “It’s you being an insufferable twat every chance you get.”
“Well, look who’s still in love with me despite being an insufferable– what did you say?” he says smugly, earning a collective groan from the rest of the car. “Twat.”
Beomgyu, filming yet another segment for his Instagram story, pipes up. “You know, if I didn’t know better, I’d think you two actually hate each other.”
“Oh, trust me,” you shoot back, narrowing your eyes at Soobin, “sometimes I wonder too.”
Sure, the two of you fought a lot. At times a little too much but as minutes go by his hands, which had been resting loosely at his sides, move slightly to hold your waist, and before you can comment, he leans forward, resting his chin on your back.
“You’re surprisingly comfortable,” he mutters softly, his voice carrying none of the teasing edge it usually does.
You roll your eyes but let him stay like that, the weight of his head against your back weirdly comforting. “If you fall asleep and drool on me, I swear—”
“You’d still love me,” he says, tilting his head just enough for you to catch the small grin on his face.
Unable to help yourself, you let out a small laugh and shift slightly, leaning your head back until it rests lightly against the top of his. “Unfortunately.”
From the front seat, Yeonjun glances at the rearview mirror and rolls his eyes. “Pick a struggle,” he says, earning nods of agreement from the others.
“Shut up and drive,” you say, though your voice holds no real bite. Soobin’s arms tighten around your waist ever so slightly, and the quiet affection between you is as natural as the constant teasing.
“You’re cute when you’re mad,” Soobin murmurs again, earning a playful elbow to his side.
“And you’re cute when you’re quiet,” you retort, though your words are softened by the fact that you’re still leaning into him.
Beomgyu snaps a picture of the two of you. “This is going straight into the group chat,” he announces, grinning like the mischievous troublemaker he is.
“Delete that,” Soobin and you say in unison, which only makes Beomgyu laugh even harder.
“While we’re on the subject of the group chat,” Kai sighs, “why is the name of it Kai’s Bouncy Recoils? With three peach emojis?” Kai sighs dramatically from the backseat, slumping into his chair. “Who changed it? I preferred our old chat name!”
“You mean Soobin’s Sooboobs Gets Loose?” Soobin asks, annoyed. “Yeah, I’d rather keep the current one.”
“Why can’t we have a normal group chat like other friend groups out there?” Kai grumbles.
“We have a Beomgyu. I hardly think we’d ever be a normal friend group,” you respond dryly, earning a chuckle from Soobin, who nuzzles his face into your shoulder.
“Fair,” Kai mutters, resigned.
The banter continues, and you’re pretty sure you got louder as the destination approached, well, until Yeonjun finally pulls into the amusement park parking lot.
“We’re here!” Yeonjun announces, his voice full of exaggerated enthusiasm, though he’s just excited for the giant cotton candy and overpriced churros waiting for him inside.
As you all pile out of the car, Soobin helps you out with a soft, almost imperceptible smile. “Still mad?” he asks, his eyes glinting with mischief.
“No,” you grumble, though the way he’s looking at you has your heart fluttering despite yourself. “But I might need a kiss to forget why I was mad.”
“Really, now?” Soobin smirks, taking a small step closer to you. He tilts his head, his smile playful but soft. “And what makes you think you deserve one?”
You cross your arms, trying to look serious, but the corners of your lips betray you. “I think I’ve earned it after sitting on an uncomfortable seat for the hour’s drive,” you say, voice laced with a mock pout.
“Uncomfortable?” Soobin’s smirk fades, and his expression softens as he closes the distance between you two. “You know,” he murmurs, his voice quieter now, “I’d give you a thousand kisses if it meant seeing that smile of yours more often.”
Your heart skips a beat as he reaches up, gently cupping your cheek. You can feel the warmth of his touch, and your annoyance from earlier seems to melt away entirely. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” you tease softly.
He chuckles before leaning in, pressing a sweet, lingering kiss to your forehead. "Baby, I know I am," he says with a wink. “Unfortunately, for me, I think you’re way cuter.”
The group, now standing in front of the entrance, takes in the sight of the bustling amusement park. Roller coasters whiz by, and the faint sound of laughter and music fills the air.
“So, what are we doing first?” Beomgyu asks, rubbing his hands together like an excited child. “Roller coasters? Ferris wheel? The haunted house? I’m down for all of it.”
You turn to Soobin, raising an eyebrow. “What do you think? Roller coaster or Ferris wheel?”
He looks at you with a mock grimace. “Well, knowing how much you’re scared of almost everything–”
“I’m not scared,” you say quickly, but Soobin raises an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.
“I’ll hold your hand on the roller coaster if you are,” he teases.
“Oh please, you screamed louder than me last time,” you shoot back.
“Well, maybe I was scared because you were too busy clinging to me for dear life,” he retorts with a grin.
The back-and-forth continues, and despite the usual bickering, there’s an undeniable warmth in the way you both interact—an ease that only comes with knowing each other too well. As your friends move toward the entrance of the park, you and Soobin exchange a glance, a silent understanding passing between you both.
“Ferris wheel?” Soobin asks with a small smile.
You roll your eyes but can’t help but give in. “Fine.”
The queue for the Ferris wheel is crowded, all buzzing with the anticipation. Soobin, being annoying, pulls at the straps of your bag playfully as you try to keep your place in line.
“Cut it out or I won’t hold your hand in there,” you mutter, crossing your arms in an attempt to look firm, though it’s obvious you’re trying to hide the smile tugging at the corners of your mouth.
Soobin only laughs, his grin wide and teasing. “Sure you won’t. But I’ll probably be the one saving you when you freak out halfway up.”
“I’ll be fine,” you say, rolling your eyes dramatically. “You’re the one who screamed like a baby last time.”
“You’re exaggerating,” Soobin retorts, leaning closer and lowering his voice in a mock whisper. “I was just startled.”
“Startled?” you raise an eyebrow, a teasing smile tugging at your lips. “Were you startled for the entire 3-minute coaster ride?”
The banter goes on, getting louder as more people in line notice the playful back-and-forth. Soobin nudges you with his elbow, and you snap back, shoving his shoulder slightly. The tension between you both is palpable, your competitive streaks rising to the surface as the queue inches forward.
“Are you two done?” Beomgyu calls from a few steps ahead. “You’ve been fighting for like, twenty minutes! The noise Kai is making is less annoying than the two of you.” He says, referring to Kai’s sinuses.
“Hey!” Kai protests.
You stick your tongue out at Beomgyu, but Soobin’s hand finds its way to your back, gently guiding you forward.
“You’re just jealous because we’re clearly the most entertaining part of this trip,” you retort, eyes narrowing at him.
Beomgyu scoffs. “Sure, until you two are stuck on the ride arguing about who screamed louder.”
“Not gonna happen,” Soobin says, shrugging and flashing a cocky smile. “Since she insists she’ll be fine!” His voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Y’know what–”
At that, your friends collectively groan, the group starting to look a little too eager for this ride to actually get started.
"Can we just go on the ride without the constant commentary?" Beomgyu mutters, already glancing toward the other car.
Yeonjun rolls his eyes, nudging him forward. “You know how this goes. It’s either them arguing or them making lovey-dovey eyes at each other and making out every chance they get.”
“Well, I’d prefer the lovey-dovey eyes,” Taehyun adds dryly. “Less noisy.”
“And we don’t make out every chance we get!” You say, stomping your feet.
Kai, who has been unusually quiet, sighs heavily. “I swear we’ve all seen more drama from you two than from any of those netflix shows Soobin forces me to watch.”
And before Soobin or you can even respond, the group’s collective patience runs out. With a dramatic roll of their eyes, they all decide it’s better to physically separate the two of you from them for the ride. Yeonjun steps forward and, without warning, waves down the ride attendant.
“How many?” the attendant asks, looking between Yeonjun and the group.
“Four,” Yeonjun replies, nonchalantly.
“Four? But there are six of us?” You look at him in confusion, brows furrowing.
Yeonjun’s grin widens, and he shrugs. “Well, you and Soobin are getting a time-out.” He rolls his eyes before looking back at the attendant, “Yes, excuse me, we don’t want these two people in our car.”
“Yeonjun!” Soobin protests, surprised, his voice tinged with mock outrage.
The attendant, caught in the middle of this spectacle, nods awkwardly. “Okay, then. We’ll have you two head up first.”
Before you or Soobin can argue further, Beomgyu and Taehyun step forward, practically pushing you both into a separate Ferris wheel car with more force than necessary. The others, already in their own car, wave enthusiastically—at least, that’s what they pretend to be doing—before the doors shut.
“See you at the bottom, losers!” Beomgyu laughs loudly, giving a mock salute as the Ferris wheel begins to move.
Soobin leans against the side of the car, his arms crossed in playful annoyance. “I can’t believe they did that. We’re literally a couple,” he grumbles, but there's no anger in his tone—just amusement.
You roll your eyes and laugh, sinking into the seat beside him. “A couple of losers who constantly bicker.”
He smirks at you, eyes gleaming. “Well, if you didn’t have to be so stubborn, we wouldn’t fight so much.”
“Stubborn?” You shoot him a teasing look. “At least I’m not a scaredy cat!”
“A scaredy cat? Are we talking about me or you?” Soobin counters, raising an eyebrow.
“I don’t know. Let’s ask the audience who’s scream was louder.” You laugh, nudging his shoulder lightly.
Soobin chuckles, leaning in a little closer. “Maybe I should. But you’ve got to admit, it’s kind of cute when I hold your hand and make sure you’re okay, right?”
You pause for a moment, looking at him with a softened expression, the teasing momentarily forgotten. “Maybe,” you reply, voice quieter, almost shy. “But only because you’re cute when you do it.”
He raises an eyebrow, a playful smirk returning to his face. “So that’s a ‘yes’? I’ll take it.”
“Don’t get too cocky,” you warn, but the affectionate smile creeping onto your face gives you away.
As the Ferris wheel slowly ascends, you and Soobin settle into a comfortable silence... for about a minute, at least.
“You know, it’s honestly kind of amazing how you manage to find something to argue about at every possible moment,” Soobin says, glancing at you.
You raise an eyebrow, your voice tinged with teasing annoyance. “Oh, please. You’re the one who starts it half the time.”
Soobin scoffs, leaning back slightly. “Starting it? I’m just trying to have a normal conversation with you, and you’re the one who—”
“—finds something to argue about?” You finish his sentence, deadpan.
There’s a brief silence as you stare ahead at the view, trying to ignore the way your heart’s still pounding from his words. He knows exactly how to push your buttons, but right now, you’re honestly not in the mood to continue the back-and-forth.
Rolling your eyes, you fold your arms, turning your face away from him.
You hear Soobin shift beside you, and a second later, you feel the warmth of his body right next to yours. Before you can even think about protesting, he wraps his arms around you and places his chin on your shoulder, his breath warm against your skin.
“Baby,” He breathes, “C’mon, I was joking,” he giggles softly, his voice light and playful.
You try to stay annoyed, but his gentle touch is starting to break through your resolve. He pokes your cheek, a soft smile tugging at his lips. The contact sends a warm flush spreading across your cheeks, and for a second, you almost forget what you were even mad about.
Your gaze softens, but you turn your face away, still pretending to be angry. “I’m not laughing, Soobin,” you murmur, crossing your arms a little tighter.
He laughs, clearly amused by your act. “Baby, you’re so fucking cute when you’re mad,” he says with a grin, his voice dripping with affection. “Your little eyebrows furrowed, your pout... everything.”
To your surprise, Soobin mimics the way your lips pucker in an exaggerated pout, and it makes you burst out laughing despite yourself.
“Stop!” you say, shaking your head.
But it’s too late—he’s already leaning in, his lips pressing gently against yours. The kiss is soft at first, lingering for just a moment, before he pulls away slightly, his forehead resting against yours.
“I really do love you, you know?” he murmurs, his voice tender and genuine, the playful teasing fading into something more serious.
You look into his eyes, your smile softening. “I know. I love you too, even if you’re a pain in the ass.”
Soobin chuckles, brushing a stray lock of hair from your face. “You’re the best pain in my ass, though.”
The Ferris wheel crests its peak, and the two of you remain there, locked in your own little world, the sounds of the park fading away as you hold onto each other—teasing, bickering, and loving every second of it.
The moment the ride stops, Beomgyu is waiting for you at the base with a wide, mischievous grin plastered across his face.
“So, you two,” Beomgyu starts, voice dripping with sarcasm. “I have to say, you kinda looked like one of those korean dramas up there.”
You roll your eyes, trying to keep your composure. “What are you talking about?”
Beomgyu laughs, clearly enjoying himself. “Oh, I don’t know... just the fact that I could see you two getting all cuddly and—" He pauses, miming the kiss with exaggerated gestures. “—all kissy up there. How sweet. Almost puked from all that but it was sweet nonetheless.”
“Are you sure it isn’t your motion sickness?” You retaliate.
Soobin’s face immediately turns bright red, and he looks down, embarrassed. “Also, we weren’t even doing that much!”
“Oh, don’t even try to deny it,” Beomgyu teases, raising an eyebrow. “I could see everything. You two were so into each other, with all your whispering–and your kissing.”
You cross your arms, pretending to be annoyed but secretly amused. “I’m glad you enjoyed the show, Gyu,” you reply dryly. “It was probably the highlight of your day.”
Taehyun, who’d been mostly quiet, grins in amusement. “I think it’s cute,” he says with a shrug, causing you to look over at him.
Yeonjun chimes in, his voice dripping with sarcasm, “Yeah, if we ever need a lesson on public displays of affection, we’ll be sure to find the two of you!”
You shoot him a glare, but Soobin, still red-faced, turns to you, trying to lighten the mood. “See, this is why I didn’t want to go on a Ferris wheel with you,” he mutters under his breath, though his eyes are full of affection.
“Aw, don’t get shy on us now, Soobin,” you tease, poking his shoulder.
Beomgyu’s laughter rings out again as he steps closer. “I mean, come on. You two are adorable when you’re fighting, and even cuter when you’re acting all sweet. It’s kind of gross, though, so don’t do that stuff in front of us anymore.”
“You weren’t even supposed to be looking,” Soobin rolls his eyes, clearly flustered.
“You were right in front of us!” Beomgyu retorts.
“In another fucking car!” you yell back, still irritated.
“I swear,” Soobin mutters under his breath, rubbing his face in embarrassment. “I’m never going on a Ferris wheel with you again.”
“I’m sure you’ll change your mind,” you say playfully, bumping your shoulder into his and leaning in to give him another quick kiss.
“Not in front of the guys,” his cheeks turn bright red.
“Oh, like I haven’t walked in on the two of you,” Kai mutters from behind, sounding genuinely annoyed at the thought of one of your less-than-pleasant encounters.
Though it had been minutes since the little teasing, Beomgyu can’t resist continuing to poke fun at you and Soobin.
“So, do you guys kiss when you’re mad too?” he asks innocently, a mischievous glint in his eye. “You two really have the whole kiss and make up thing down, don’t you?”
Soobin, walking beside you, glares at Beomgyu with mock seriousness. “If you say one more word about us, I’m going to push you into the haunted house alone.”
“Oh, please,” Beomgyu laughs. “I’d rather go through that haunted house alone than deal with you two idiots.”
The group reaches the entrance of the haunted house, a towering, ominous structure lit by flickering lanterns. You can already see the look on Soobin’s face — dread. You know he’s terrified, but with his ego the size of a skyscraper, he’d never admit it. The tall, eerie doors creak open, sending a chill through the air as you all stand in line, waiting for your turn to enter.
Yeonjun looks at everyone, eyes gleaming with a mischievous shine. “Alright, who’s going first?” he asks, clearly amused by the thought of one of you getting freaked out.
“I’m not going first,” Soobin says quickly, clearly not thrilled by the idea of being the guinea pig.
Beomgyu steps up with exaggerated bravado. “I’ll go first. What’s the worst that could happen? he says, shrugging.
The eerie atmosphere of the haunted house presses in as the group moves forward. The sounds of creaking floors and distant moans send chills down everyone’s spines, but it’s clear that each person’s fear tolerance varies.
Taehyun, who is walking at the front of the group, is already visibly shaking. His steps falter as a sudden noise echoes through the dark hall. "I can’t do this," he mutters, grabbing Yeonjun’s sleeve in panic.
Kai, trying to stay calm for his friends, pats Taehyun’s arm reassuringly. "Relax, it’s just a noise, you’re fine."
Soobin, walking close to you, keeps glancing over at you, clearly trying to make sure you’re okay. "Stay close," he says softly, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
You can tell he’s doing his best to mask his own nervousness, but it’s obvious he’s not as confident as he’d like to be. A sudden scream from somewhere further ahead makes him jump slightly, his grip tightening on you.
You glance over at Soobin, who’s walking a little too close for comfort. His eyes flicker nervously to every shadow, his hand occasionally brushing against yours. It’s clear that both of you are trying to stay calm, but the fear is written all over your faces. You’re both trying to play it cool, but you can’t shake the feeling that something’s about to jump out at any moment.
Suddenly, a loud bang echoes from the far end of the hall, and a ghostly figure stumbles into view. Soobin grabs your wrist, trying to pull you behind him, but you instinctively push him forward.
"BABY, PROTECT ME!" you snap, eyes wide as the ghost gets closer.
Soobin’s face pales. "I’m–I’m trying!" He pulls you behind him, but as the ghost takes a step closer, both of you stumble backward into each other, panicking.
“Move!” you shout, pushing Soobin in front of you in an attempt to shield yourself. "You’re taller! You’re supposed to protect me!"
"I'm trying, but you're the one shoving me!" Soobin argues, his voice tight with fear. "You're practically throwing me into the ghost!"
As the figure lurches forward, both of you panic and take a wild step to the side, almost knocking into each other. The ghost’s ghastly figure seems to loom larger as you stumble further away.
“Oh my god, stop shoving me!” you yell as you both continue to squabble, completely ignoring the creepy figure that’s getting closer.
"I’m not shoving!" Soobin retorts, but his feet trip over his own as he backs up, causing you both to crash into a wall. "Okay, maybe I am, but that doesn’t mean you have to do it too just because you’re scared!"
“I’m not scared,” you say defensively, though your voice cracks, betraying you.
Soobin’s eyes dart around, his expression stricken with terror. "Me neither, but—"
Before either of you can finish your sentence, the ghost lets out a chilling moan. You scream, and without thinking, you shove Soobin directly into the ghost, practically throwing him into its path.
“Soobin, look out!” you shout, covering your eyes in dread.
But just as the ghost reaches out to grab him, Soobin, completely panicking, pushes you in front of him with a startled shout. “No, you look out!”
You both fall into the ghost’s path at the same time, both terrified and scrambling away from the spooky figure.
“Stop pushing me!” you scream.
“You stop! You’re the one who shoved me first!” Soobin shoots back, his face flushed with embarrassment and fear.
Both of you continue shoving each other in a frantic panic, desperately trying to push the other in front of the ghost. You trip over your own feet, and before you can catch yourself, you fall hard onto the floor—right in front of the looming, terrifying ghost.
You let out a scream so loud, you were sure the entire theme park could’ve heard you. "AHH!!" You scramble to push yourself up, but in your panic, you can barely move.
Soobin’s eyes widen in horror, his own heart hammering in his chest. “BABY!” he yells, rushing toward you. Even though he’s just as scared as you, the protective instinct kicks in. “Dude, back off! Can’t you hear my girlfriend screaming?!” he yells at the ghost, his voice shaky but loud.
The ghost, not one to back down, takes another step toward you. But before it can do anything else, Soobin scoops you up in his arms without a second thought. You let out a surprised gasp as he lifts you, holding you tightly against him.
“Hold on!” he calls out, his voice filled with panic but determination. “I’m getting you out of here!”
Soobin doesn’t waste another second. He starts running, his arms firmly holding you against his chest as he bolts toward the exit of the haunted house. You can feel your heart pounding in your ears, and though you’re terrified, you can’t help but notice how tightly Soobin holds you, his presence a strange comfort amidst the chaos.
Behind you, your friends, who had been petrified just moments ago, now watch in disbelief, unable to contain their laughter.
“What the fuck was that?” Yeonjun scoffs in disbelief.
Beomgyu’s voice dripping with amusement. “Well, that’s one way to escape. Who knew you two were such drama queens?”
Taehyun snickers, shaking his head. “Thanks to the two of you, I wounded up being slightly braver.”
Kai laughs, patting Soobin on the back as he catches up. “You’re supposed to be the brave one, Soobin. What happened to all that ‘I’m not scared’ talk?”
“Would someone who’s scared actually carry his girlfriend to save her?” Soobin huffs, finally setting you down once you’re safely outside. He runs a hand through his hair, trying to calm his racing heart.
“Save her from what? A lawsuit for assaulting the fake ghost after she punches them?” Beomgyu teases, a smirk tugging at his lips.
You cross your arms, still shaking slightly but now able to catch your breath. “Shut up.”
Soobin leans in, his voice low as he whispers, “I’d do it all over again if it meant saving my little princess.”
You chuckle, but his sincerity has your heart fluttering.
Soobin blushes, his usual shyness creeping back. “I’m serious,” he says softly, his eyes still filled with undeniable affection for you.
Beomgyu grins, crossing his arms as he watches you two. “You know, I never thought I’d say this, but... you guys are actually kind of cute when you’re scared.”
You both glare at Beomgyu, but that only makes him laugh harder. The group continues to poke fun at the two of you, but it doesn’t bother you as much anymore.
Soobin gently nudges you with his elbow, his tone playful. “You’re kinda cute when you’re on the floor begging for your life.”
You raise an eyebrow, a small smirk playing on your lips. “Oh? You think I’m cute, huh?”
“I think you’re cute even when you’re yelling at me,” Soobin says with a soft smile, and for once, you let the teasing slide.
“Well, I think you’re adorable even when you’re running from ghosts.”
After hours of walking around the park, your feet are absolutely killing you. You glance down at your shoes—sandals, of course. You curse yourself for not listening to Soobin when he’d suggested wearing sneakers.
At this point, you were “slowing the boys down” with your constant complaining about your aching feet. Or so Beomgyu said. You told them to go ahead without you and even urged Soobin to join the group, but being the perfect boyfriend he was, he couldn’t possibly leave you behind. Especially since you were his favorite part of the day.
You limp a bit, trying to ignore the pain, but it’s no use. You groan, rubbing your feet.
Soobin, who’s been giving you the “I told you so” look all day, can’t help but lecture you again. “I told you, you should’ve worn something comfortable. You never listen.”
You roll your eyes, already annoyed. “Yeah, yeah. You were right. Happy now?”
“I’m always right, I told you back at home, in the car, twice just now” he says, a playful grin tugging at his lips. “And now look at you, your poor feet look like they’re about to give up on you.”
Your frustration bubbles over. “Well, maybe I’m not a psychic! I didn’t know these shoes would turn into torture devices after four fucking hours! I get it, Soobin. You’re right, I’m wrong. Happy?”
Soobin’s smile falters a little as he looks at you, sensing the frustration in your voice. He sighs and shakes his head, walking up to you without saying a word.
Confused, you raise an eyebrow as he bends down in front of you.
“What are you—”
“C’mon,” he interrupts softly, offering you a smile. “Get on.”
You stare at him, flabbergasted. “What?”
He raises his arms, gesturing for you to climb onto his back. “Get on, I’ll carry you.”
Your jaw drops, and for a second, you wonder if you’re hearing things. “What? No!”
Soobin doesn’t miss a beat. “Stop being whiny and get on,” he says, pulling you toward him gently. Before you can protest further, he presses a soft kiss to your forehead. “Can’t let my princess hurt herself now, can we?”
Your cheeks flush at the gesture, and your annoyance starts to fade, but you're still not convinced. “I’m not a baby, Soobin. I can walk just fine... kinda.”
“You’re clearly struggling,” he points out, giving you a playful smirk. “Plus, I’m stronger than you think.”
You cross your arms, trying to hold back a smile. “I’ll survive. I’m not fragile.”
“Sure,” he teases, his tone soft. “But I’d rather carry you than see you limp around all night. So, come on. You’ll thank me later.”
You open your mouth to argue, but before you can, Soobin scoops you up with ease, making you squeal in surprise. “Soobin!” you protest, your face heating up as he lifts you effortlessly.
He chuckles, holding you securely as if it’s the most natural thing in the world. “There we go. Comfortable?”
“I mean…” you mutter, trying to act annoyed, but you can’t help the small smile tugging at your lips.
“You love it,” he teases, walking steadily, not even breaking a sweat. “You can’t resist my charm.”
You roll your eyes but don’t say anything. Instead, you lean your head against his back, giving in to the warmth of his embrace. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” you mumble under your breath.
Soobin grins to himself, clearly pleased with your quiet acceptance. “And you’re lucky you have me to carry you,” he teases lightly, glancing over his shoulder with a wink.
You punch his shoulder gently, laughing despite yourself. “You’re the worst.”
“But you love me anyway,” Soobin shoots back, sounding completely smug.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” you reply, but the affection in your voice is clear.
Soobin slows to a stop, his grip on you steady as he gently places you down on a nearby bench. “Wait here, okay?” he says with a soft smile, already heading towards the ice cream stand.
You nod, though the thought of him leaving for even a moment feels oddly strange after the day you’ve had. But, as always, Soobin returns in no time, holding two ice cream cones with a grin. “One for you, and one for me,” he says, offering you the treat with a wink.
“Thank you,” you murmur, taking the cone from him. Your tiredness seems to melt away a little with the ice cream, but it’s the warmth of Soobin’s presence beside you that really makes you feel at ease.
You lean your head against his shoulder, the simple comfort of his touch making everything else fade away.
He gently nudges you with his elbow. “How’s your feet?”
You nod without lifting your head, your voice muffled against him. “Better. Thanks, Soobin,” you murmur.
Soobin raises an eyebrow, a playful smirk forming. “So you’re sticking with Soobin, even when we’re alone?”
You shrug, not meeting his eyes. “I’m not calling you baby when there could be people around.”
He leans closer, his voice teasing. “You called me that in the haunted house.”
“That was out of fear,” you counter, rolling your eyes.
He laughs as his fingers brush through your hair as you both take a bite of your ice cream, silence falls over you. Soobin’s hand stays resting on your shoulder, and the two of you share little glances between bites, your hearts feeling a little fuller with each passing second.
“This is nice,” you murmur, savoring the moment. “Just us. No Beomgyu, none of that ass recoil from Kai–”
“Don’t ruin the moment by bringing that up,” Soobin agrees laughing, his voice soft as he watches you, his gaze full of affection. “This–just us– it’s perfect.”
And for that moment, everything feels right. No arguments, no distractions—just you and Soobin, enjoying the simple joy of being together.
"Hey, do you really think we fight that much?" you ask, lifting your head slightly to glance at him.
Soobin looks thoughtful for a moment, then shrugs with a small smile. “We do argue a lot, but..” His hand finds yours, gently squeezing it. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t love you. Arguing—it’s just how we work through things. And if I’m being honest, I like our relationship. It’s fun. You keep me on my toes.”
You chuckle softly, shaking your head. "I guess you're right. Though, maybe we should try to fight less? My feet can’t handle all the stress." You tease, nudging him playfully.
He laughs, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Fine, we have a deal. I promise I’ll try to stop teasing you about your shoes, your height, how cute you are,” he says.
You roll your eyes but can't help but smile. "Well, I promise to stop making fun of you when you get all shy, or when you get scared, or–."
“Okay, I get it,” he grins, squeezing your hand a little tighter. “But, no matter what, I hope you know I still love you. Even when you’re grumpy.”
You nod, your heart warming. "I love you too. Even when you’re being a pain in the ass."
Soobin chuckles, his eyes flicking to your lips. “You’ve got a little something…”
“Huh?” you ask, obliviously licking the corner of your lips, which only makes him grin wider.
“Here,” he says, leaning in and brushing his lips against yours, the faint sweetness of your ice cream lingering. You blink in surprise as he pulls back, smirking smugly. “Got it.”
“Did you just…” you start, heat rushing to your cheeks.
“Yup,” he replies, casually leaning back as though he didn’t just send your heart racing. “Two birds, one stone.”
Before you can retort, a chorus of groans interrupts the moment.
“Oh my God, can you two get a fucking room?” Beomgyu’s voice rings out, dripping with exaggerated disgust.
“That just made me lose my appetite.” Yeonjun mutters, pretending to vomit.
The group stands a few steps away, all wearing matching expressions of horror.
“This is worse than the haunted house,” Taehyun mutters, covering his eyes.
“Why did we even beg them to stop fighting? They were so much more tolerable when they were arguing,” Yeonjun complains, shaking his head.
Kai crosses his arms, a frown forming. “Seriously, keep it PG. We’re in public.”
You pull back, face burning as you glare at the group. “Maybe if you weren’t spying on us—”
“We weren’t spying,” Beomgyu cuts you off, grinning. “You’re just impossible to miss when you’re eating each other’s faces in broad daylight.”
Soobin groans, rubbing his temple. “Can we just go back to fighting? Apparently, that’s what they prefer.”
“No, I kinda like it when they’re miserable. Single and miserable.” You grin, crossing your arms.
“Then I guess there’s only one thing to do, baby.” Soobin says boldly, pulling you into his arms with a smirk.
Beomgyu lets out a long, dramatic sigh. “Can I sue them for this?”
“On the grounds of what?” Kai asks, his tone curious but amused.
“Making me uncomfortable with their love and… whatever this is. It’s gross,” Beomgyu replies, gesturing vaguely at the two of you.
“You should know Soobin has calluses on his feet that he refers to as food,” Taehyun chimes in, deadpan.
“Why—why would you think I’d be turned off by that?” You blink, looking between them in disbelief.
“Damn it, you were right, Yeonjun. She is, in fact, in love with him,” Taehyun says, shaking his head in mock defeat.
Yeonjun nods sagely. “It’s a lost cause. She’s too far gone.”
“Maybe if we keep talking about all the cringey shit Soobin does, she’ll stop liking him, and we’ll get our bickering friends back,” Kai suggests.
“Oh? Like what?” you ask, raising an eyebrow.
“Well,” Yeonjun starts, barely containing a laugh, “while Soobin’s chewing his food, he shows us the mushed-up mess in his mouth and asks us to rate it.”
You raise an unimpressed eyebrow. “Do you really think that’s going to freak me out? I’ve seen worse like one time—”
“Baby!” Soobin yells, his ears turning red as he covers your mouth with his hand. “Don’t—don’t tell them!”
You pull his hand away, grinning up at him. “What? They were egging me on, pretending like I don’t already know how gross you are.”
“I’m not gross!” Soobin insists, his voice pitching higher in protest.
Kai snorts. “You literally made us rate your chewed-up food last week.”
Beomgyu throws his hands in the air. “And the fact that she’s still standing here, in love with him, is the real nightmare.”
You grin, clinging onto Soobin, “Ladies and gentlemen, the love of my life.”
“So what you’re admitting is that you have low standards,” Beomgyu sneers, crossing his arms with a smirk.
You roll your eyes, stepping closer to Soobin. “Low standards? I’m dating Soobin, not you, sweetie.”
Beomgyu gasps dramatically, clutching his chest like you just shot him. “That was uncalled for!”
Before you can fire back, Soobin leans down and presses a quick kiss to your temple. “See? She loves me just the way I am.”
“Yeah, well, we don’t. We don’t love either of you, so why do we have to put up with this nonsense?” Yeonjun mutters, shaking his head in mock dismay.
Kai nudges Yeonjun, smirking. “Because deep down, we have to admit, some parts of us actually do care for these nutjobs. Deep…deep down.”
“Absolutely not,” Yeonjun scoffs. “The only thing I care for is the silence we’ll have when you two stop flirting. Or fighting.”
“Never gonna happen,” Soobin says smugly, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. “Get used to it.”
Taehyun sighs, pulling out his phone. “I’m just gonna record this and send it to your future kids. Let them know what they’re in for.”
Beomgyu groans. “Future kids? Can you imagine a tiny Soobin? Bro’s gonna be a giant by age 6. The horror.”
You smile sweetly at Beomgyu. “Don’t worry, Uncle Beomgyu, you’re gonna be our kids’ favorite uncle.”
“Aw—wait, that’s kinda sweet.”
“Why wouldn’t they love the uncle who lets them win at arm wrestling just because he’s terrible at it?” you say, feigning innocence.
Beomgyu’s jaw drops. “H–hey! Just because, I’m the worse at arm wre–”
“Or you could be the uncle who trips over his own feet during hide-and-seek,” Soobin adds with a sly grin.
“You fall one time and people won’t stop bringing it up!” Beomgyu defends, his face turning red.
“You know what? I take it back. Your future kids are gonna hate me. I’ll make sure of it,” Beomgyu huffs, crossing his arms dramatically.
Soobin grins. “Nah, they’ll love you. But not as much as they’ll love their super cool dad.”
Beomgyu mutters under his breath, “Yeah, your kids are doomed. Maybe if they had some of my DNA, they’d be kinda cool.”
“Gross,” you and Soobin say in unison.

you dribbled the ball towards the hoop about to make the final score, your legs were starting to weaken. you stopped in your tracks and shot your last shot right through the net. a big smile crossed your exhausted face as you slowly dropped to the floor to regain strength. you and your three friends used to stay after school to play some basketball in the empty gym hall.
“nice shot y/n!! wanna play one more?” your friend Wooyoung asked. “don’t think i have the energy for one more game guys, maby tomorrow” you threw your head back breathing heavy. “aww you’re no fun” San pouted at you, a face he often made at you.
your whole body ached and all you could think of right now was water, lots of it. you heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind your sitting frame, it was Yunho, your college crush, he was also part of your friend group. he knew you liked him and you knew he liked you but no one had been brave enough to make a move. he looked down at you giving you a smile, his hair was sticking to his forehead and sweat was dripping down his neck, god he looked hot. you patted the floor for him to sit beside you, he got down and handed you a water bottle. both of you just looked at each other in silence for a while until it was broken by your noisy friends.
“we’re heading home, you guys coming?!” San called from the door. you were about to tell him yes but Yunho cut you off. “go ahead we’re staying a bit longer!”. you looked at him with big eyes, he turned his gaze back to you with a happy smile. “alright, don’t do anything stupid kids!” San teased before they disappeared through the door.
“why do you want us to stay?” you tilted your head looking at the tall boy. he was quiet before he leaned in to your ear. “you can’t get away with this” the whisper sent chills down your spine all the way to your core. “can’t get away with what?” you whispered back. “always when I come near you you always wanna leave, why?”. you could feel how your cheeks blushed “I- I don’t know how to act when I’m alone with you..” you said silently as you looked down. “just be yourself, I’m a simple guy y/n” he gave you a smile. the only thing you did was playing with your hands, ignoring his face. “do I make you nervous?” his voice dropped an octave and it not only caught the attention of your ears but your pussy as well. you pressed your thighs together as you finally was able to look him in the eyes, they weren’t the soft shade of brown anymore, they’d turned dark.
Yunho caught on the little action of yours and raised an eyebrow. “oh do I make you that nervous, pup” he teased and leaned in to your face and looked down your cleavage and then back up at you again. having Yunho so close to you made your heart almost rip out of your chest, if you could you would run away but it was like your body was paralysed, you were stuck to the floor. sheesh he was even more handsome up close. you finally snapped out of your trance when his big hand grabbed yours “you alright?” he let out a small giggle looking at you questionably. trying not to look too nervous you gave him a soft smile and nodded “yeah, I’m alright, I just..” you stuttered searching for the right words. “I know..” was all he replied and before you knew it he leaned in and placed his lips onto yours, it caught you by surprise but you instantly melted into his actions.
there you were just the two of you alone sitting on the floor with each others tongues down your throats. Yunhos hands roamed your body feeling every curve on your small frame, you placed your hands on his thighs to push yourself up to meet his soft lips. your hand brushed against his growing erection earning a low groan from him, Yunho smirked into the heated kiss.
he grabbed your waist and laid himself down onto his back, he placed you on top of him, his erection poked you right were you wanted him. continuing the heated make out session on the floor you slowly began to roll your hips onto his dick, the sounds that escaped his mouth was out of this world, the deep moans and groans made your pussy go wild. Yunho returned the favour and bucked up his hips making you gasp, two can play at this game.
you moved down placing kisses along his long neck, you lifted up his oversized t-shirt exposing his toned stomach and chest. as you began to place small kisses along his abdomen Yunhos breathing became heavier and his whole body tensed up at your touches and kisses. “god y/n..” you moved further down kissing his happy trail all the way to the waistband on his shorts, his dick was standing right up aching to be touched by you. Yunho looked down at you with his mouth agape, as much as he wanted you to continue he stopped you before you could pull down his shorts. he grabbed your wrist and you gave him a worrying look “did I do something wrong?” you whispered afraid you maybe went too far. Yunho let out a chuckle as he looked at you “no you did everything right but we can’t do this here, there’s cameras” he pulled you down on his chest giving you a kiss “how about a shower?” your pussy clenched onto nothing knowing exactly where this was going “I’d love to” you kissed him.
you had sneaked in to the men’s showers and here Yunho had you naked on your knees sucking him off. his hand was placed on the back of your head helping you to guide your movements, he tried to be gentle but it was hard being this fucking horny as he was, the girl of his dreams his best friend now on her knees sucking his dick like an angel. his head was in the clouds for sure, you looked so beautiful with your pretty lips wrapped around his thick cock.
“fuck, your mouth feels so good” he bit his bottom lip trying to hold himself back from cumming too early, you started to deepthroat him making your eyes water, your nose touching his pubic bone. Yunho gripped your hair tightly trying to pull you back cause he was this close to cum and he didn’t want the fun to end yet.
your big puppy eyes met his lustfilled ones, damn he thought you looked so pretty sitting on your knees all naked and wet for him. he helped you stand up and once again his lips were on yours, his tongue fucking your throat as he played with your wet tits. your hands found their way down to his hard cock, grabbing on to his enormous length you began to pump him. Yunho broke the kiss only to throw his head back in pleasure, his adams apple gliding up and down as he swallowed hard. “just like that, fuck mmh”.
Yunho sneaked down his hand between your legs and toyed with your clit, he slowly slid his two long fingers into your tight cunt making a “come here” motion earning small moans from you as you continued to stroke his cock in the same rhythm.
“aah Yunho..” you moaned when he sped up his pace, your legs felt numb. he attacked your neck and collarbones leaving purple marks on your skin. your lower abdomen flexed and you could feel the tension growing bigger. “are you gonna cum on my fingers honey?” his thumb circling your swollen clit in insane speed making you see stars. Yunho started to twitch in your hand and the knot in your stomach was about to burst. Yunho stilled his hips and came all over your hand and stomach, at the same time you came all over his fingers, both of you catched your breaths trying to come back from your highs.
Yunho pulled out his fingers from your pussy and placed them on your lips, a smirk formed on his lips as he waited for you to open your mouth. you grabbed his wrist and wrapped your lips around his digits licking them clean of your cum. “good girl” he placed a soft kiss on your puffy lips “now turn around will you?” you raised an eyebrow at him as you turned around, your tits pushed up against the cold shower wall giving you shills.
he caressed your lower back and down to your ass cheeks, he spread them apart to take a good look at your swollen pussy which was about to get split open by his monster cock. he dragged his dick along your wet folds collecting some of your arousal, before he pushed himself in he leaned down to your ear “you don’t understand how long I’ve been wanting to do this”. you replied with a moan, he pulled back watching how your pussy clenched around nothing. he couldn’t wait anymore, he had to fuck you right now.
Yunho grabbed your hips tightly and pushed himself inside you little by little so you’d be able to adjust to his thick girth. your mouth dropped open and a airy moan left your mouth as you could feel how your pussy got split open by Yunhos cock. “Yunho.. you’re too big” you said holding onto the wall for dear life. “fuck you’re so tight, relax honey” he moved one of his hands from your hip to your breast, as he massaged it he could feel how you loosened up better. after he had let you adjust to him he began to fasten his pace, his dickhead brushing against your cervix over and over again sending you to the moon.
you heard a slap and then a stinging feeling grew on your ass, you looked back at Yunho and were met by a fuck drunk man spanking your ass until his handprint was visible. Yunho increased the speed and the sound of skin slapping ringed in his ears, the way your tits flew back and forth was the icing on the cake. the tingling feeling in your stomach crept back up on you and suddenly it got harder to stand up, Yunho felt how you clenched around him, he only thrusted deeper into you testing you.
“gonna let me cum inside this little pussy of yours?” he growled, his fingers dug into the flesh of your hips. “yes please Yunho, breed me” you whined feeling how you were on the brink of cumming. Yunhos cock twitched at your words, he rolled his hips pushing his cock deeper before you could feel ropes of cum spurting inside you and it was a lot. he stayed inside until he had emptied all his cum in your cunt. drawing circles on your clit you finally came too, your thick cream slowly coated Yunhos dick. you were so tired and only waited for Yunho to pull out.
“things aren’t gonna be the same again after this right?” you broke the silence sounding a bit worried if you’d destroyed your friendship. “well of course it won’t be the same but I would be really into a friends with benefits kinda thing tho, if you’re up for it” Yunho panted as he pulled out, your gaping hole was leaking lots of cum. what he’d do to eat you out right there and then. “guess it would be alright” you shot him a tired smile.
as time went by you both realised it would lead to bigger things than just a fwb situation.

kate teaches eva to play
Tumblr media
after tucking in your six-year-old daughter, eva, you headed to your bedroom, thinking the day was finally winding down. she had been at school all day, and all you wanted was a quiet evening. little did you know, kate had other ideas.
once you were out of sight, kate peeked into eva’s room, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “hey, superstar,” she whispered, nudging eva awake. “how about a little adventure?” eva’s eyes lit up as she nodded eagerly, excitement bubbling within her.
they tiptoed down the stairs, trying to be as quiet as possible, their giggles echoing in the stillness of the house. outside in the driveway, the moonlight cast a soft glow, perfect for some secret fun. kate pulled out a mini basketball she had stashed away, and eva squealed in delight.
“okay, here’s how you shoot,” kate said, demonstrating with exaggerated flair, her tall frame bending slightly as she flicked the ball toward the hoop. the ball arched beautifully before landing in the grass. “see? easy peasy!”
eva, with her hair tousled and eyes shining, took the ball eagerly. “my turn!” she exclaimed, mimicking kate’s stance. she bounced it awkwardly, giggling as it slipped from her grasp and rolled into the driveway.
just as you were settling down for the night, you heard the sounds of laughter drifting in from outside. curious, you peeked through the window and felt your heart swell at the sight of kate and eva sharing this moment, their laughter blending in the night air.
you couldn’t help but smile but decided to put on a show. you opened the door, stepping out onto the driveway with a faux frown. “and just what do you think you’re doing out here, young lady?” you called, crossing your arms in mock disapproval.
eva turned, wide-eyed and giggling. “mommy! we’re just practicing basketball!”
“is that so?” you said, trying to sound stern but failing miserably. “and you thought i wouldn’t notice you sneaking out?”
kate shot you a cheeky grin. “we were just having a little fun. i promise she’ll be ready for the wnba in no time!”
“hmm,” you replied, tapping your chin thoughtfully. “and what do you think your other mommy would say about this little escapade?”
“not a word!” kate exclaimed, her smile infectious. “just a few more minutes, i swear.”
with a dramatic sigh, you stepped fully into the driveway. “alright, but just for a few more minutes. then it’s straight back to bed!”
“yay!” eva cheered, bouncing the ball. the three of you spent the next few minutes playing under the stars, the driveway transformed into your little basketball court.
you joined in on the fun, teasing kate about her form while cheering for eva’s every attempt. “look at you! you’re a natural!” you encouraged, clapping when eva made her first shot, albeit a little lucky.
as the night wore on, you felt your heart warm at the sight of kate and eva together, their bond unbreakable. eventually, you knew it was time to call it a night. “okay, basketball stars, time to head inside. we can’t let the neighbors think we’re crazy.”
“can we do this again tomorrow?” eva asked, her voice sleepy but hopeful.
“of course,” kate replied, wrapping her arm around eva’s shoulders as they walked back inside. “every day if you want.”
as you tucked eva in once more, you couldn’t help but smile at how magical the evening had turned out. you exchanged a glance with kate, and in that moment, everything felt perfect.
“goodnight, sweetheart,” you said, brushing a strand of hair from eva’s forehead. she smiled sleepily, clutching her favorite stuffed animal. you turned off the light, leaving the door slightly ajar, and settled into your own bed.
but you couldn’t shake the warm feeling that lingered from the evening. as you lay there, listening to the soft sounds of the house settling around you, you heard a quiet shuffle in the hallway. curiosity piqued, you peeked out of your room just in time to see kate and eva sneak back outside.
you chuckled to yourself, shaking your head at their antics. it was moments like these that made all the chaos of parenting worth it. even though they were supposed to be winding down for the night, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of joy watching them bond.
with a smile, you returned to bed, knowing that tomorrow would bring more laughter and love. after all, with kate and eva in your life, every day was an adventure waiting to happen.

Tumblr media
Y/N has always had a passion for basketball. As the star player of his high school team, the court is where you feel most alive. But lately, there’s been something — or rather, someone — distracting Y/N.
Minji.
Minji, with her bright smile and infectious energy, has been the topic of many of Y/N’s daydreams. She’s in his class, and while she’s friendly and approachable, she’s also incredibly dense when it comes to his feelings. Despite his best efforts, she just doesn’t seem to get it.
————————————————————
The gym was alive with energy as Ador High faced off against their rivals, Hanlim High. The bleachers were packed with students, teachers, and parents, all roaring with excitement. Banners waved, and the school band played spirited tunes to keep the energy high.
Y/N, the team's star player, stood tall at the center of the court, his eyes scanning the crowd. His teammates huddled around him, their faces a mix of determination and anticipation. Coach Kim gave them a final pep talk, emphasizing teamwork and focus.
"Remember, guys, we've trained hard for this, let’s win this and punch our way to the finals." Coach Kim said, clapping his hands for emphasis. "Stay sharp, watch your passes, and keep the pressure on. Y/N, you're our ace player. Lead us to victory."
Y/N nodded, his heart pounding with adrenaline. He lived for moments like these, the thrill of the game, the roar of the crowd. But today, something—or rather, someone—was distracting him.
As the referee blew the whistle to start the game, Y/N's eyes wandered to the stands. There, among the sea of faces, he spotted Minji. She was easy to find, her energetic presence like a beacon in the crowd. Her long hair was tied in a ponytail, and she wore the school's colors, waving a homemade sign that read, "Go Y/N! You're the best!"
Minji's smile was infectious, and Y/N felt a flutter in his chest. He quickly shook it off, reminding himself he had a game to win.
The tip-off was won by Ador High, and Y/N immediately took control of the ball. He moved with precision and grace, dribbling past defenders with ease. The crowd's cheers grew louder with each successful play.
"Y/N! Over here!" shouted his teammate, Jisoo, who was in a perfect position near the basket.
Y/N feinted left, sending his defender off balance, and passed the ball to Jisoo, who scored with a clean shot. The crowd erupted, and Y/N exchanged a quick high-five with Jisoo before getting back into position.
Among the cheering, Y/N's eyes kept drifting back to Minji. She was jumping up and down, excitement radiating from her. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and Y/N found himself smiling despite the intensity of the game.
As the first quarter progressed, Y/N continued to shine, making key plays and scoring crucial points. Ador High were ahead, but Hanlim High were relentless, keeping the pressure on.
During a brief timeout, Y/N sat on the bench, gulping down water. His coach patted him on the back. "Great job out there, Y/N. Keep it up."
Y/N nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. His thoughts drifted back to Minji. He wondered if she had any idea how much her support meant to him. Probably not, he mused, given how dense she could be about these things.
The game resumed, and Y/N's focus sharpened. He executed a flawless crossover, leaving his defender in the dust, and drove towards the basket. As he leaped for a layup, two defenders swooped in, trying to stop his attack.
Tumblr media
The ball sailed through the hoop, and the crowd roared. Y/N landed gracefully as he caught a glimpse of Minji in the stands, her eyes wide with admiration. His heart pounded not just from the exertion but from the thrill of seeing Minji's reaction.
At halftime, Ador High led by a slim margin. The team gathered in the locker room, strategizing for the second half. Y/N's mind, however, was partially elsewhere. He couldn't help but think about Minji, her infectious energy, and the way she made his heart race.
"Y/N, you good?" asked Jisoo, noticing his friend's distraction.
"Yeah, just thinking about the game," Y/N replied, though his thoughts were more about Minji than the game plan.
Back on the court for the second half, Y/N refocused his efforts. Hanlim High were playing more aggressively, and the game became a fierce battle of skill and endurance. Y/N's leadership and skill were pivotal in maintaining their lead.
With the final minutes ticking down, the score was tied. The tension in the gym was palpable. Y/N knew this was it—the moment to seal their victory. He dribbled past two defenders, his eyes locked on the basket.
"Y/N! You can do it!" Minji's voice cut through the noise, loud and clear.
Spurred on by her encouragement, Y/N made his move. He executed a perfect spin and launched the ball towards the basket. The gym fell silent for a breathless moment as the ball sailed through the air.
Swish.
Tumblr media
The buzzer sounded, and the crowd erupted in deafening cheers. Ador High had won. Y/N's teammates mobbed him, lifting him onto their shoulders. Amid the celebration, Y/N's eyes found Minji's. She was clapping and cheering, her face beaming with pride.
As he was carried off the court, Y/N couldn't help but think that this victory was not just for
the team, but for Minji. Her support had fueled his determination and made the win even sweeter.
————————————————————
After the game, Y/N was in high spirits. Ador High had won, and he was determined to use the victory high to confess his feelings to Minji. He found her waiting outside the locker room, her smile brighter than the gym lights.
"Hey, Minji! Thanks for coming to the game," Y/N said, trying to keep his cool.
"Of course! You're amazing out there, Y/N!" Minji replied, her eyes sparkling.
Y/N took a deep breath. "Minji, I—"
Just then, a teammate interrupted, slapping Y/N on the back. "Great game, man! We're heading to the diner to celebrate. You in?"
Y/N shot his teammate a frustrated look but managed a smile. "Yeah, I'll be there in a bit."
Minji, completely missing Y/N's attempt at a confession, clapped her hands. "Ooh, can I come too?"
Y/N sighed inwardly but couldn't say no to her. "Sure, why not?"
————————————————————
At the local diner, the basketball team was loud and boisterous, celebrating their recent win. The energy was infectious, and even the usually reserved Y/N found himself laughing along with his teammates. But amidst the chaos, he couldn't take his eyes off Minji, who was engrossed in conversation with their friends, a milkshake in her hand.
Y/N decided it was now or never. He needed a moment alone with her. "Hey, Minji, can we talk?" he asked, trying to catch her attention.
Minji looked up, her face smeared with whipped cream. "Sure, Y/N! What's up?"
Y/N couldn't help but laugh. "You, uh, have a little something on your face."
Minji wiped her face with a napkin and smiled brightly. "Thanks! So, what did you want to talk about?"
Taking a deep breath, Y/N began, "Minji, I really—"
Before he could finish, a waiter tripped, sending a tray of drinks flying. Instinctively, Y/N pulled Minji out of the way, and they ended up in a tangled heap on the floor, laughing.
"Wow, Y/N, you're like a superhero!" Minji giggled, completely oblivious to the romantic tension.
Y/N sighed, thinking to himself, How can someone be so dense?
As they got up, Minji dusted herself off. "Thanks for saving me, Y/N. That was close!"
"No problem," Y/N replied, trying to hide his frustration. "Uh, so, about what I wanted to say—"
"Hey, Y/N! Minji! Come join us for a group photo!" one of their teammates called out, waving a camera.
Minji grabbed Y/N's hand. "Let's go! It'll be fun!"
Y/N followed, his chance for confession slipping away once again. They squeezed into the group, and the camera flashed, capturing Minji's bright smile and Y/N's slightly forced one.
"Alright, on the count of three, say 'cheese'!" the teammate said.
"Cheese!" everyone chorused, and the camera clicked again.
As the evening wore on, Y/N found himself continually thwarted by interruptions. Every time he tried to steer Minji away for a private conversation, someone would call her over or something would happen to derail his attempts.
By the end of the night, Y/N was exhausted. As they walked out of the diner, Minji looked at him with a puzzled expression. "You seemed like you had something important to say earlier. What was it?"
Y/N gave a weary smile. "It's nothing, Minji. Really."
She patted his shoulder. "Well, if it's important, you'll tell me eventually. Right?"
"Yeah," Y/N said, feeling a twinge of frustration. "Eventually."
————————————————————
Determined to make his feelings clear, Y/N invited Minji to study together in the library. He thought the quiet atmosphere would be perfect for a heart-to-heart.
"Minji, there's something important I need to tell you," Y/N began, his palms sweaty as he fidgeted with his notes.
Minji looked up from her book, her eyes wide with curiosity. "What is it, Y/N?"
Y/N took a deep breath, gathering his courage. "I—"
Before he could continue, Minji gasped. "Oh no! I forgot to feed my goldfish this morning!" She jumped up, knocking over her chair in the process.
Y/N facepalmed. "Minji, your goldfish will be fine for a few more hours."
Minji sat back down, looking relieved. "You're right. Sorry, Y/N. What were you saying?"
Y/N shook his head, trying to keep his frustration in check. "I really, really—"
Just then, the librarian shushed them loudly, and they both burst out laughing, earning more stern looks from the librarian.
Minji covered her mouth, trying to stifle her giggles. "We should probably keep it down, huh?"
"Yeah, probably," Y/N agreed, still chuckling.
They returned to their books, and Y/N tried to focus on his studies, but his mind kept drifting back to what he wanted to say. After a few minutes of silence, he decided to try again.
"Minji, I—"
This time, Minji's phone buzzed loudly. She quickly grabbed it, glancing at the screen. "Oh, it's my mom. She wants to know if I need a ride home."
Y/N's shoulders slumped. "Do you?"
Minji shook her head. "Nah, I'll walk. It's a nice day out."
"Okay." Y/N took another deep breath. "Minji, I—"
The librarian appeared out of nowhere, glaring at them. "If you two can't keep it down, I'll have to ask you to leave."
"Sorry," they both mumbled, trying not to laugh.
Once the librarian had gone, Minji turned to Y/N. "It's really hard to have a conversation here, huh?"
"Yeah, it is," Y/N admitted, feeling a mix of frustration and amusement.
"Maybe we can talk later? After we finish studying?" Minji suggested.
"Sure," Y/N agreed, hoping that later would bring fewer interruptions.
During their “study” session, Y/N was determined to finally get his message across. Instead of actually studying, Y/N was racking his brain for ideas to confess his feelings to Minji. After a minute of brainstorming, he decided to write Minji a letter, hoping that putting his feelings into words would make things clearer. He spent hours crafting the perfect confession, pouring his heart onto the page. He tried to be sneaky as possible, trying to avoid the attention of the laser-focused Minji who’s diligently studying just in front of him.
After spending hours on the library, the pair decided to finally call it quits, as they both left the school premise to walk home. Y/N tried to act as natural as possible as he walked beside Minji who was busy sightseeing. Pushing down his nervousness and finally deciding to make his move, Y/N cleared his throat to get the attention of Minji.
“H-hey, here. Read this.” Just as he was about to hand the letter to Minji, a strong gust of wind blew it out of his hand. Y/N watched in horror as the letter fluttered through the air and landed in a puddle.
Minji picked it up, her eyes widening as she read the waterlogged, smudged words. "Uh, Y/N? Why does this say you want to 'beef' with me?"
Y/N facepalmed, realizing the ink had smeared beyond recognition. "It was supposed to say I want to be with you'!"  He screamed internally.
Minji giggled, completely missing the point again. "Oh, Y/N, you're so funny! But I don't think fighting would be a good idea."
Y/N sighed, shaking his head but unable to stay mad at her. "Yeah, you're right. Fighting's not my style."
————————————————————
One weekend, Y/N asked Minji to go to the amusement park, hoping a fun day out would provide the perfect opportunity to confess his feelings.
"This is going to be so much fun!" Minji exclaimed as they arrived at the park, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
They rode roller coasters, played games, and ate cotton candy. Y/N couldn't remember the last time he had so much fun, but he was still looking for the right moment to confess.
As they stood in line for the Ferris wheel, Y/N decided it was now or never. The view from the top, the gentle sway of the cabin—it all felt so romantic.
"Minji, I—" Y/N began, but Minji cut him off with a delighted squeal.
"Look, Y/N! We're almost at the front of the line! I can't wait to see the view from the top!" Minji exclaimed, completely missing his attempt at a confession.
Y/N sighed inwardly but couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. One of these days, she'll understand.
They climbed into the Ferris wheel cabin, and as it slowly ascended, Y/N's heart pounded. He looked over at Minji, who was gazing out at the park below with wide eyes.
"It's so beautiful," she said, her voice filled with wonder.
"Yeah, it is," Y/N agreed, though he was looking at her rather than the view.
As they reached the top, Y/N took a deep breath. "Minji, I—"
Minji turned to him, her eyes sparkling. "Yes?"
Y/N felt his courage falter. "I—really like this view."
Minji laughed. "Me too! It's amazing up here."
Y/N sighed, kicking himself for chickening out. He needed to find the right moment, but it seemed like every time he tried, something got in the way.
After the Ferris wheel, they wandered around the park, playing more games and enjoying the various attractions. As the sun began to set, they found themselves at a quiet spot near the park's lake.
"Minji, there's something I need to tell you," Y/N said, his heart pounding once again.
Minji looked at him, her expression serious for once. "What is it, Y/N?"
Just as Y/N was about to speak, a group of kids ran by, laughing and shouting, interrupting the moment.
Y/N groaned inwardly. "Never mind. It's not important."
Minji frowned. "Are you sure? It seemed important."
Y/N forced a smile. "Yeah, it's fine. Let's just enjoy the rest of the day."
Minji nodded, though she still looked concerned. "Okay, if you say so."
The annual school festival was a big event, and Y/N saw it as another opportunity to get closer to Minji. They wandered through the various stalls, played games, and enjoyed the performances. Minji's laughter was infectious, and Y/N found himself falling for her even more.
"Let's try the ring toss!" Minji suggested, dragging Y/N over to a game booth.
"Alright, but I'm warning you, I'm not very good at this," Y/N said with a grin.
Minji laughed. "That's okay! It's just for fun."
They each took turns tossing rings, and Minji managed to win a small stuffed bear. She handed it to Y/N with a smile. "Here, this is for you."
Y/N accepted the bear, feeling a warmth spread through his chest. "Thanks, Minji."
As the day went on, they continued to enjoy the festival together. Y/N couldn't help but notice how happy Minji seemed, and it made him even more determined to tell her how he felt.
At the end of the day, there was a fireworks display. Y/N and Minji found a spot on the school rooftop to watch. The sky lit up with brilliant colors, and Y/N felt the perfect moment had arrived.
"Minji, there's something I've been wanting to tell you," Y/N said, turning to face her, his heart pounding in his chest.
Minji looked at him, her eyes wide with curiosity. "What is it, Y/N?"
Y/N took a deep breath. "Minji, I really—"
Minji suddenly gasped, cutting him off. "Oh my gosh, Y/N! Are you going to tell me that you’ll finally teach me basketball for my P.E class?!"
Y/N blinked, completely thrown off. "Uh... what?"
Minji nodded enthusiastically. "I knew it! You kept trying to deny my request, but in the end you still have a soft spot for me huh, Y/N!"
Y/N stared at her, dumbfounded. "I was actually busy back then, Minji. But that's not what I—"
"Shhh, the fireworks are starting!" Minji exclaimed, turning her attention back to the sky.
Y/N sighed, shaking his head as he stared at the night sky. One of these days, she'll understand. Hopefully.
As the fireworks exploded overhead, Y/N felt a mix of frustration and hope. He knew he would eventually get through to Minji, but for now, he would just enjoy the moment with her.
————————————————————
That night, after yet another failed attempt to confess his feelings, Y/N lay in bed, feeling both elated and exasperated. He replayed all the missed opportunities in his head, each one more ridiculous than the last.
First, there was the locker room interruption. Then, the diner disaster. The study session? Don’t even get him started. The amusement park and the school festival were supposed to be perfect, but of course, things had to go hilariously wrong.
He grabbed his pillow and screamed into it, letting out all his pent-up frustration. "Why, Minji? Why are you so dense?!" he muttered dramatically, throwing his hands in the air.
Just then, his phone buzzed. It was a text from Minji:
Minji: Hey Y/N, I just realized... were you trying to tell me something important today?
Y/N stared at his phone, his mouth agape. He couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. He quickly typed back:
Y/N: Yes, Minji. Yes, I was.
Minji: LOL! I'm such a dummy. But I’m glad you're my friend! Anyways, see you tomorrow at the local park 😊
Y/N sighed, shaking his head but smiling. "Better late than never," he muttered, feeling the weight of all those missed opportunities lift off his shoulders.
————————————————————
The next day, true to her word, Minji showed up at the local basketball court, eager to learn. Y/N couldn't help but admire her enthusiasm, even if she was a bit clumsy with the ball.
"Okay, first you need to dribble like this," Y/N demonstrated, bouncing the ball with ease.
Minji tried to mimic him but ended up fumbling the ball. She laughed, a sound that always made Y/N's heart melt. "This is harder than it looks!"
Y/N moved closer, gently guiding her hands. "Here, let me help you."
He stood behind her, his hands over hers, guiding her movements. As they practiced, Y/N realized that Minji's determination was part of her charm. Her cheerful personality and genuine innocence made every moment with her feel like an adventure. However, she can be dense as a mountain when it comes to feelings.
"Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it," Y/N encouraged, smiling.
Minji pouted playfully. "I hope so. I don't want to embarrass myself in front of everyone."
"You won't," Y/N assured her. "You're doing great."
As the afternoon went on, Minji's skills slowly improved. She laughed and stumbled, but she never gave up. Her persistence reminded Y/N of why he cared for her so much. She was a beacon of positivity in his life, always looking at the bright side.
They took a break, sitting on the court and sipping water. The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the gym.
"Thank you for teaching me, Y/N," Minji said, her eyes sincere. "It means a lot."
Tumblr media
Y/N smiled, feeling a warmth in his chest. "Anytime, Minji. I'm glad we can spend time together like this."
Minji beamed. "Me too."
As they sat there, watching the sun dip below the horizon, Y/N realized that these moments, both on and off the court, were the ones he would cherish forever. It wasn't just about the game; it was about the people who made it meaningful. And Minji was at the heart of it all.
————————————————————
The championship game was the biggest event of the year. The gym was packed with students, teachers, and parents, all cheering for Ador High. The bleachers were a sea of orange and black, with banners and posters waving enthusiastically in the air. The scent of popcorn and excitement filled the space, creating an electric atmosphere.
Y/N was more focused than ever, but knowing Minji was in the crowd cheering for him made his heart pound. He glanced up and saw her, her smile a beacon of encouragement. He took a deep breath and joined his teammates in their final huddle.
"Alright, guys," the coach said, his voice steady and calm. "This is our moment. Play smart, play hard, and remember, we've got each other's backs."
The game began with a flurry of activity. The opposing team, Seoul High, were formidable, their defense tight and their offense relentless. Y/N dodged and weaved, his muscles straining with every pass, every pivot. The sound of sneakers squeaking on the polished wood floor and the rhythmic pounding of the basketball echoed through the gym.
As the first quarter progressed, both teams fought fiercely for the lead. Y/N executed a perfect layup, drawing cheers from the crowd. But Seoul High quickly countered with a three-pointer, keeping the score neck and neck.
During a timeout, Y/N wiped the sweat from his brow and listened as the coach outlined their strategy. "Stay sharp, and keep the pressure on. Y/N, you'll be our key player in the final minutes. Trust your instincts."
Back on the court, Y/N felt the weight of the game on his shoulders. He knew the clock was ticking down, and the pressure was mounting. With only two minutes left, the score was tied. Ador High fought for every inch, their determination unwavering.
The game was intense. Ador High and Seoul High were evenly matched, each team responding to the other’s moves with agility and precision. The ball changed hands rapidly, with neither side able to secure a solid lead.
With a minute left in the fourth quarter, Ador High were down by two points. Y/N knew it was now or never. He stole the ball from an opposing player and sprinted down the court. The crowd's roar was deafening. He passed the ball to his teammate, who quickly passed it back to him.
Y/N was at the three-point line when he saw an opening. He darted past his defender and charged toward the basket. Seoul High' center, a towering player, tried to block him, but Y/N was faster. He jumped, the world around him slowing down. With all his might, he slammed the ball into the hoop.
The gym exploded with cheers. Ador High were now up by one point. The slam dunk had turned the tide of the game, and Y/N felt a surge of adrenaline and pride.
With only seconds left on the clock, Seoul High scrambled to regain control. But Ador High' defense was impenetrable. Y/N stole the ball again, blitzing his way to the opponent's side of the court. However, a defender was just right behind him, slowly catching up to lock him down. Entering the paint, Y/N immediately sprung into the air while gripping the ball with all his might. Everyone watched, as Y/N stayed in the air before slamming the ball right onto the hoop just as the final buzzer sounded.
Tumblr media
Ador High had won the championship, thanks to Y/N’s back to back dunk. His teammates lifted him onto their shoulders, the victory a culmination of their hard work and dedication.
Amid the celebration, Y/N spotted Minji running towards him. Her face was radiant with pride, her eyes shining. She threw her arms around him, her joy palpable.
"You're amazing, Y/N! We won!" Minji exclaimed, her smile brighter than ever.
Y/N hugged her back, his heart full. "Thanks, Minji. I couldn't have done it without you."
Minji pulled back, looking confused. "Me? But all I did was cheer."
Y/N laughed, a sound of pure happiness. "And that made all the difference."
As the team celebrated their victory, Y/N knew this was a moment he would cherish forever. The roar of the crowd, the embrace of his friends and family, and Minji's unwavering support. This was more than a game; it was a testament to teamwork, perseverance, and the power of believing in oneself.
After the initial celebration, the team gathered in the locker room, their spirits high. The coach gave a rousing speech, praising everyone's effort and determination. Y/N's teammates clapped him on the back, congratulating him on his game-winning shot.
"Man, you were on fire out there!" one teammate exclaimed.
"Yeah, you really carried us in the final minutes," another added.
Y/N smiled, feeling a sense of camaraderie and pride.
As they changed out of their uniforms, Y/N couldn't help but think about Minji. He had to find the right moment to finally tell her how he felt. He glanced at his phone and saw a text from her:
Minji: Congrats, Y/N! You were incredible! 😊
Y/N replied: Thanks, Minji. Can we meet outside? I need to talk to you.
Minji: Sure! Be there in a sec.
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. As he walked out of the locker room, he saw Minji waiting for him, her smile as bright as ever.
"Hey, Y/N! What's up?" she asked cheerfully.
Y/N's heart raced. "Minji, there's something important I need to tell you. I've been trying to say it for a while now, but things keep getting in the way."
Minji tilted her head, looking curious. "What is it, Y/N?"
Y/N took a deep breath. "Minji, I—"
Just then, his teammate burst through the door, yelling, "Yo, Y/N! Coach wants you back inside for a team photo!"
Y/N groaned inwardly, feeling the frustration build up again. "Okay, I'll be right there." He turns and smiled at his teammate, biting the insides of his cheeks. His eyes squinted as he telepathically communicated with his teammate. ‘Boy you better thank the gods above we are living in a civilized society’.
The poor teammate, jolted as he awkwardly exits himself back to the team.
Minji giggled. "I'll wait here. Don't keep me waiting too long!"
Y/N nodded, feeling both exasperated and amused. One of these days, he'd get his chance.
After the game, Y/N and Minji found a quiet spot outside the gym. The moonlight cast a soft glow over them, and Y/N knew it was the perfect moment.
"Minji, I have something to tell you," Y/N said, his voice steady.
Minji looked at him, her eyes wide with curiosity. "What is it, Y/N?"
Y/N took a deep breath. "Minji, I like you. A lot. More than just a friend."
Minji's face lit up with realization. "Oh! You mean like more than my love for fried chicken?"
Y/N couldn't help but laugh. "Yes, Minji. Much more than that."
Minji's face slowly lit up with realization. "Oh, I get it! You want to join the culinary club to learn how to make fried chicken, don't you?"
Tumblr media
Y/N's jaw dropped. "W-What? No! That's not what I meant!"
Minji giggled, completely missing the point. "Oh, Y/N! You're so funny. But sure, I'll help you join the culinary club if that's what you want!"
Y/N sighed deeply, shaking his head but unable to stay mad at her. "Thanks, Minji. You're the best." Giving her a weakened thumbs up and smile.
As he walked home alone, he couldn't help but just laugh at the misunderstanding. Minji's innocence and humor were part of what he loved about her, even if it made things a bit more complicated. But he’s lying if the constant failures he’s facing aren't affecting him.
“Let’s not give up yet, we still have plenty more chances!” He motivates himself, reassuring his feelings and his unwavering will.
He proceeded to run the remaining kilometer on his way home.
In the following days, Y/N found himself in another series of dense moments with Minji that only added to his growing frustration and affection:
They were in the library, supposedly studying for their upcoming exams. Minji was intensely focused on her notes, her brows furrowed in concentration. Y/N, however, was distracted by her presence.
"Minji," he whispered, trying to be subtle.
"Hmm?" She looked up, her expression softening.
"I wanted to ask you something," he began, his heart racing.
"Sure, what is it?" she asked, leaning in closer.
"Do you ever think about..." he trailed off, unsure of how to phrase his question.
"Think about what?" she prompted, her eyes wide with curiosity.
"Um, about us, you know, being more than friends?" he finally managed to say.
Minji's eyes lit up with excitement. "Oh, you mean like study buddies? I'd love that! We can help each other with all our subjects!"
Y/N sighed inwardly, trying to keep his smile. "Yeah, study buddies. That's exactly what I meant."
A few days later, they were in the cafeteria, enjoying lunch together. Y/N decided to try again.
"Minji, there's something I've been meaning to tell you," he said, gathering his courage.
"What's that, Y/N?" she asked, looking up from her food.
"I really like you, Minji. I mean, I really like you," he said, hoping she would understand this time.
Minji's face lit up with a smile. "Oh, I like you too, Y/N! You're one of my best friends."
Y/N felt a pang of disappointment but managed to keep his composure. "Thanks, Minji. You're one of my best friends too."
————————————————————
After another failed attempt to confess his feelings, Y/N decided to make one last grand gesture. He arranged a surprise for Minji on the rooftop of their school, a place they both loved for its breathtaking view of the city.
Y/N decorated the rooftop with fairy lights, creating a magical ambiance under the night sky. He set up a picnic blanket, complete with all of Minji’s favorite snacks. He took a deep breath, hoping this time everything would go smoothly.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the city, Y/N led Minji to the rooftop, covering her eyes with his hands.
"Y/N, what are you doing?" Minji giggled, clearly excited.
"Just trust me," Y/N said, guiding her carefully. "And... open your eyes!"
Minji gasped, her eyes wide with wonder. "Oh my gosh, Y/N! This is beautiful!"
Y/N smiled, feeling a bit more confident. "I wanted to do something special for you, Minji."
They sat down together, enjoying the view and the snacks. As the sky darkened and the stars began to twinkle, Y/N knew it was now or never.
"Minji," he began, his voice steady. "There's something I've been trying to tell you for a long time."
Minji looked at him, her eyes full of curiosity and warmth. "What is it, Y/N?"
Y/N took a deep breath, his heart pounding. "Minji, I love you. I've loved you for so long, and I can't keep it to myself anymore. You're the most amazing person I've ever met, and I want to be more than just friends. I want to be with you."
Minji's eyes filled with tears, but she was smiling. "Oh, Y/N, I love you too! I can't believe it took us this long to say it out loud!"
Tumblr media
Y/N felt a wave of relief and joy wash over him. "So, does this mean...?"
"Yes, Y/N," Minji said, leaning in closer. "It means we're more than friends now."
Y/N pulled her into a tight embrace, his heart soaring. "I'm so glad you feel the same way, Minji."
As they stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, Y/N knew that this was the moment he had been waiting for. All the misunderstandings and dense moments had led them to this point, and it was worth every second.
The rooftop seemed to glow with a newfound warmth, and Y/N felt an overwhelming sense of happiness. He had finally confessed his feelings, and Minji had reciprocated. It was the start of a beautiful new chapter in their lives.
————————————————————
The next day at school, Y/N and Minji walked hand-in-hand, their friends teasing them playfully.
"Finally, you two figured it out!" one friend joked.
"Yeah, it only took a million failed attempts," another added with a laugh.
Minji giggled, squeezing Y/N's hand. "I guess I'm not the only one who's dense."
Y/N grinned, feeling happier than ever. "Nope, we're a perfect match."
Reaching the hallway, they suddenly bumped into the Culinary Club president.
"Hey, Y/N! Minji said you wanted to join the Culinary Club to learn how to make fried chicken?" the president asked, grinning.
Y/N's face turned bright red as Minji burst into laughter. "Oh, Y/N! You really should have seen your face!"
Y/N groaned, feeling both embarrassed and amused. "Minji, I swear, that was not what I meant!"
Minji squeezed his hand, her laughter infectious. "I know, Y/N. But hey, maybe we can still join and make some delicious fried chicken together!"
Y/N chuckled, shaking his head. "Sure, why not? As long as we're together."
As they walked to their next class, Minji suddenly stopped. "Oh no! I forgot to feed my goldfish again!"
Y/N laughed, shaking his head. "Don't worry, Minji. I'll help you with that too."
And so, their story continued, filled with basketball, laughter, love, and a whole lot of heart.

Hi there sir, so my buddy is having a party and he said that we all need to wear sports gear. But I don’t play sports or any l thing so I have nothing to wear. Do you have anything I could use for the party? I want to look like a real jock.
Tumblr media
Here's our sports section, have sport that sticks out you like my friend? How about basketball, seems easy enough. He says trying to through the ball at me, but missed.
I through him a nice leathered basketball jersey, he takes in the changing room to make sure it fits. Your have to wear it without a shirt on for it to fit properly. He removes his backpack and both shirts, sliding the jersey on, Dude it's way too big and long. It looks like a sleep shirt. He yes to be then there's a scream from him, the door slams open and suddenly this tall ripped jock emerges from the changing room.
He was not the young man who entered that room.
Tumblr media
Fuck Bro, Wow, love the leather look of this uniform, the shorts especially feels great when I'm going commando, am I right my dude? he asked me grabbing the basketball he couldn't toss before and sinking it in the basketball hoop we have installed all the way across the store. Fuck I still got it. he high fived me. Damn bro I feel energized, great costume, you think I can pull off the jock look, he laughed.
I started a conversation.
So what do you usually do now? I watched as his mind caught up with his new body, his world changed and he became someone new.
What do you mean bro, I'm a basketball player, star player on my college team, I model when I'm not playing. Shame not to share this body with the rest of the world am I right. He came close, advancing himself onto me. Maybe you'd like to find me a perfect costume to fit this fine form? He was hitting on me, i mean I try not to get involved with my customers, but Damn, the way his ass is framed in those tight shorts. I
I'm sure we can find something that will fit. I lead him into my office. Billy, don't disturb me, i wink at one of my employees.
Tumblr media
I'll do whatever it takes to satisfy my customers, pretty sure he'll be a repeat customer.

love letter. constance “connie” s.
Tumblr media
“dear diary, i met a boy today. he said his name is constance but his friends call him connie. really cute nice swag kinda tall, he told me that he hoop but he don’t look like he play ball!”
connie falls in love with you the day he sees you at the park.
it be a hot summer day, the middle of july actually. one of the hottest days of the week and connie decides to go out and play ball with jean, onyankopon, eren and a couple of the other boys.
they play a couple games, everyone in their wife beaters, the white nike compression shirt he wore damp with sweat with still a couple more games left to play and people start to sit around them, it’s what normally happened when you played in parks.
but connie couldn’t even play the game anymore after he noticed you, so pretty sitting on that bench with your friend. your hair was pulled into a low ponytail and you wore these ridiculous big golden hoops.
“connie cmon lock in you could’ve got that!”
“my fault bro”
for the rest of the game, every time he made a shot he couldn’t help but turn around a wink at you or point to you, like he was dedicating it to you. how could he not when he caught the sweet smile that would spread into your face after?
after the game is over, he drinks some water and comes over to you with a smile on his face and good intentions ready to sweet talk his way into your phone, also being internally thankful he went to get a line up the day before.
more tattoos threatened to spill from the cover of his compression shirt and a pretty golden chain laid against his collarbones, studded earrings decorated the males ear.
“i like to hoop sometimes as you ladies can see, ya’feel me, but id like to get to know yall more.. specifically you,”
and then he’d flash you an overly charming smile when you pulled out your baby pink colored phone and began setting up a new contact. connie stuffed his hands in his basketball shorts pockets, a little sheepish and giddy you agreed.
“you’re cute..?”
“connie. my names constance but everybody that kno’ me calls me connie”
“you’re a real cutie connie, don’t ruin that”
“so you like me too?”
“i’ll see you later connie”
he can’t get you out of his head for weeks after that.

okay so hear me out. how hard would it be to throw a basketball through that hoop
Læraðr seems pretty tall but like dunkable. And the 90 degree angle makes it easy to throw from behind - a basketball has a diameter of about 9.4 inches, so the hoop would have to be large enough to fit it through. Papers put the average width of a human head at approximate 5-6 inches, i'll go with the NHI and say 145 mm. (https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1597/1545-1569_1992_029_0303_agsoth_2.3.co_2?url_ver=Z39.88-2003&rfr_id=ori:rid:crossref.org&rfr_dat=cr_pub%20%200pubmed) which is about 5.7 inches.
Tumblr media
if we take Læraðr's face as a measurement we can see it fits comfortably twice in the hoop, and a little extra. We can safely assume it is around 11 inches in diameter
Tumblr media
Now THEORETICALLY throwing it from behind should be safest. He seems tall but not tall enough that a good jump couldn't get it in.
Tumblr media
Issue is, if we get too close we run the risk of him pulling this shit
Tumblr media
So we'd need a long ball threat who can throw it with a weird angle. Some Joe Milton midcourt shit like this-
Tumblr media
Any closer and you're getting killed.
Tumblr media
I'd say any NBA player would have a decent shot at making it provided they have some experience with 3s. It'd probably be easier if you got a football and threw it in there.
Tumblr media
SIDENOTE: This below form seems easier to do considering he can't run away and the hoop is bigger. You'd need a good vertical maaaaybe but honestly now it's more doable.

Again & Again(Time loop reader part 5)
Tumblr media
Authors note: So my friend say I have to warn you about the angst at the end, this is mostly fluff as I promised but here it is! Anyway, the next part, this is the longest one so far! Enjoy!
P1, P2, P3, P4, P5(here)
--
『01:13』
Japan was on your bucket list of places to go, especially for when you were with Misaki. In the first loop, sure, it became blurry, but the fun moments you had with them(Even if you were with Ronin), were a pin point for you. So visiting them was a thing for you to do, you also owed them something, so seeing her would be good.
It was February, another month of love, but it felt normal to you after so many times experiencing it. You felt Misaki to pick a place to meet up and allow them to set up what you guys would do. Looking at the time at your watch, you saw it was reaching closer to noon. You have a feeling that she might be running late. Sighing with a smile on your face. You looked up at the tall buildings around, it’s vastly different from what you are used to.
“I’m here! I’m here!” You know that voice, looking to see Misaki running towards you. Immediately embracing you into a hug. “You’re here! Like actually real! OH MY GOD! I’m really glad that you are here!” They let you go, staring at you with a wide smile. They grab your hand, “I got so many things planned for us. BUT!... Are you hungry? Because I am!”
Allowing them to lead the way, you felt that sweet, loving feeling again. Sickly sweet. Take a breath, and just enjoy the moment.
Misaki took you to a good cafe, the food was cute and decorated, and the desserts were delicious as well. Misaki took photos of you and the meal you guys had, sharing it with others on the server. And after leaving the cafe, she led you to an arcade. Immediately inside, they challenged you to get the most tickets. And being unfamiliar in an arcade, you felt the excitement fill you.
Shooting basketballs and hoops, racing Misaki(which 3 wins, 5 loses), shooting digital guns(Misaki having experience shooting guns is cheating), air hockey, and some random games you find. But reaching a claw machine, seeing a black cat with a goofy face. It reminded you of a certain someone.
Playing the game, and losing a couple times, you finally got it. It now holds into your hands. Hearing the goofball, you hid your new-found gift for them, and found them cheering as tickets poured out of a machine. Misaki won, but you didn’t mind. Just feeling so soft as the first time you fell in love with them, it was a moment that you would want to remember for a long time.
Pooling the tickets, you guys got a few gifts, and Misaki got you a massive bear that was near black with red accents. Holding it in your arms, it was soft. You wished you could keep this through the loops, but knew you couldn’t, so you want to keep how it feels and everything to memory. Misaki got a matching bear with your favorite colors, naming it ‘Love bug’.
Going to one more place, holding the bear in one arm and holding Misaki’s hand to the other. Misaki wanted photos with you, so heading to a photo booth, you guys took a few photos. Some that are cute, very couple poses, holding hearts between each other, and then some that were funny or goofy. Getting one each so both of you can remember this moment.
It was time to head to Misaki’s place, it was getting closer to the sun setting as you both adventure to their place, holding their hand. It was a moment you were going to burn into your memory for a long time. She filled the silence with ramble about how the date was going, and even how they loved seeing you here with her.
Reaching to their place, placing the bears inside their place and heading onto the roof. Ending it off with stargazing. Your other gift lies right next to your bear and you would give it to them after you guys get in from the stars.
A blanket and a few pillows around the both of you, them leaning against you as you look up to the stars with your arm around them. They giggled and talked about the stars, and you also did, naming them with them.
Grabbing your attention when talking about a job, when she accidentally shook you when there was a shooting star.
“Shooting star!” Pointing at it before looking at you. “Make a wish, hot stuff!” You felt like there were stars in their eyes but you did make a wish.
To not be alone in these loops. And to stay with everyone.
“Sooooo…” Misaki’s smile is almost like a chester grin. “What did you wish for?”
“Can’t tell, or it won’t come true, Love.” Immediately, they groan.
“Fun killer.” Moving their head away from you, looking back at the stars. Laughter escapes your lips as you saw her head turn away from you.
-
Getting inside from the cold air, grabbing the blankets and pillows. Before cuddling up together again, you gave them the cat plushie, encasing you into another hug. The red and black cat was now in Misaki’s hands.
“It’s so cute! Daw~, I love it so much! A mini me as a cat!” Their smile was worth the failures you had to endure to get it. “Misaki Junior shall be your name!”
The date was nice, a different change in pace from dealing with the loops. Their head was on your chest, silently snoring away. You brushed a bit of their hair away. It was nice, not having to worry about Victim nor Creator. Maybe… you should take a few loops as a break.
『01:14』
It was finally time that Angel got a break, she was pretty stressed for the past week, and now she invited you to her apartment. The agreement was to go to her house, you had a gift in mind. Luckily, if you didn’t know something about her, Ronin can help.. Ish. But it was still useful, you know she would like it.
You were holding the at home spa supplies and the gift. You were in front of her door, knocking it. It was a few moments before the life-like angel opened the door for you.
“Come in! I got chocolate cooling on strawberries and hot chocolate warming up.” She leaves the door open as she walks away from it, leaving you to close it. Putting the spa supplies onto the counter, she softly hums as she also puts the freshly cooled chocolate covered strawberries. They looked amazing, not just the usual chocolate with dark chocolate sprinkled on, but like art, the white, milk, and dark was designed on each one. You could see the hard work she put in. About to grab one to try it, to just get your hand slapped.
“Later.” She lightly glared as she pointed at you. Before giving her soft smile, grabbing the bags you brought and placing it onto the couch. Then seeing the gift bag. “Is this?”
“I had Ronin help me with the fabric.”
She laughed as she pulled it out. It was a blanket with two fabrics tied together, like those couples who made them on the short video app. Her side was a fluffy pink with white clouds on them tied with your fabric that complement it. She rubbed her hand over the fabric that Ronin helped you pick. She had an entirely soft smile that said it was a good gift to give. Something she could wrap around herself and remind her to take a moment to rest. “Thank you.”
“Come on, we have a million step face cleaning process to do, Sweetheart.” You leaned your head on her shoulder with a grin, and she glared at you for saying her many step spa treating is long. But she’ll show you.
Watching a movie with your head on her shoulder, munching on the strawberries with hot drinks nearby. Both face masks cover both of your faces, being careful not to mess it up as you eat. She hums to the musical notes to the movie as she paints your nails to her eye color, showing a way that you’re hers. A moment of sweetness.
“What time is it, dear?” She softly asked as she didn't bother looking up from her painting your nails. You hummed in affirmation for her to continue.
Looking over to your phone, “11:10… wait no, 11:11. Why?”
She smiled, looking up from your nails. “One, it’s getting late, so please stay here, I'd rather make sure you are safe. And make a wish! 11:11 is known for people to make a wish on.”
You paused, before smiling. “Alright, done. And are you sure, I can go home.”
“Stay, plus it allows me to make sure the face mask is on until a point.” She looked back down, finishing up the last nail.
‘I want someone to stay with me.’
『01:15』
Seeing the tall man looking at his phone, you rush towards him. “Sorry, I’m late, V.” Panting as you finally caught up to him.
He smiled as he saw you, putting his phone into his pocket. “What caused the late arrival?”
“A kid got lost, so I helped them get to their mom.” You brushed off your clothing.
He gave a small breathless snort, grabbing something out of your hair, a few pieces of dandelion fluff. “Were you wishing for something as well?” Let the dandelion fluff blow into the wind.
You shook your head. “I wasn’t, but what’s on the agenda?”
He started walking off, with you beside him, “An animal shelter, I hope you don’t mind also volunteering with me.”
You shook your head, “Nope. I don’t.”
“That’s good, I’ve done my research with this shelter, this one is great, treating the animals correctly. And, I was able to volunteer for a day.” He walked beside you, glancing your way a few times. But V was good at looking into things, well, except for finding if you were a killer in a past loop, which luckily, no blood was split in this loop.
At the animal shelter, they housed not just the normal cat and dogs, but other animals, you see ducks, birds, and hamsters. There is probably more there. You were holding a cat, covered in white fur with bright blue eyes. Petting the cat that rests in your lap, as you look up, you see V talking to the owner of the shelter, he sent you to pet the cats.
From the way he was gesturing and sent you away, it might be business. Distracting yourself with the cat in your lap, maybe… maybe getting an animal when all these loops seem like a good idea.
Moving on to the bird room, after he finished whatever it was, you had a couple around you, a few white doves, and other birds with species you can’t remember. You have two on your arms as another on your head, while there were several on V, he was loved by the birds here.
The doves in your hands hopped off back on to their branches as well as a few others as other volunteers started to pour bird seeds. V, with a few feathers on them, started to walk over to you.
“If there was an animal you would take care of, what would it be, Love?” He said as he placed his hand on your back, gently pushing you to another room.
“An animal?” You softly hummed to yourself as you pondered. In a past loop, when you were with V, he brought a cat service animal to his place. So maybe that. “A cat?”
He gave a soft smile, “A cat? They are quite entertaining and do offer good companionship when you get through their tough shells.”
“Like Ronin?” His smile dropped as he rolled his eyes. Making you laugh, “Sorry, sorry. Too good to pass up.”
Shaking his head, he opens the door for you and leads you out of the bird room. “Well, let’s not mention that cretin name during our date. On another note, let’s go to one more animal room then head to my dwelling.”
Keeping the smile, you nod.
He adopted a stray from the shelter, from what the paper you read. The pup was kept in a fighting ring before he was saved. And now’s V’s dog. V has challenged you to name the pup, you have a bird named after you by V. What would you name the pup… The fur on the pup was near white, a near snow color. Snow… Lumi? Looking into the light blue eyes that belong to the dog. Lumi.
“Lumi,” You said as you pet the dog’s head, smiling. V smiled as he continued to carry the dog to his place.
『01:16』
Ronin has picked out a date for the both of you, an adventuring one. Exploring abandoned buildings. He gave you no notice, just to go to a place and wait for him there. Of course, he made sure you didn’t know what place he picked except for a location to be picked up. A car honks at you and you see Ronin in the driver seat. He just kept pushing at it, it was near midnight.
Running over and opening the passenger door, “SHUSH! People are sleeping nearby!” He took his hand off as you sat down.
“Had to make you run faster, time wasting, Darlin’.” As you put your seatbelt on he started driving. “I got a place we can look into. A grant adventure. And it’s haunted.”
You took a breath in, great, this should be fun.
“And surely, some gruesome inspiration for you as well.” He had one hand on the wheel the other on his door rest, keeping his eyes on the road, it was a cloudy night as well.
The car ride was quiet, leaving you to stare at the scenery passing by, finally reaching your designation. He opens his door, after parking the car, you get out a moment after. Looking around, the building around looks run down, and oldish. The windows were broken and graffiti was covering the walls.
Wrapping his arm around your shoulders, “Well, come on, we got places to see, and ghost stories to find.” Pulling you with him, walking in the ruined build was interesting.
The building looks run down, wallpaper was ripping, ceiling looks like it’s falling down, and… was that a rat? Ew. You heard laughter for your disgusted face. He continued to pull you further into the building, the male grinned as he looked around.
The building was just a run down warehouse. So boxes were everywhere, same as what they seem to sell… You crouched down and picked up what seems to be… a pop-can, dusting what you can, it used to be some canned meat. Feeling grossed out a bit, you let it drop, and walked next to Ronin as he stared at the metal that seemed like it dropped a while ago.
“Do you think someone died there?” He pointed at the metal.
“Really, Ronin?” You raised your eyebrow at him.
“What? Just think about, Darlin’, a perfect murder that anyone can get away from.” He messed up your hair as he started walking away from the crashed metal.
Again, following him to what seemed to be a basement, the both of you pulled out your phones, flashing light against the stairs. Ronin made you go first, so feeling the adrenaline dread fill your veins. Finally, reaching the basement, the lightbulbs were smashed, so glass was in certain areas that you could avoid.
Cardboard was everywhere, ripped and dirty boxes were making walking hard. Ronin was nearby, when you heard something rumble. You pause, flashing your light at the direction of the noise. Taking a step forward, it was a bit louder, catching Ronin's attention now. Itching closer, something jumped out, freaking you out. Making you unbalanced, luckily, Ronin made sure you didn’t fall. Catching you with that smirk, one that screams he was enjoying this.
Looking at what jumped it was a cat. Leaving Ronin laughing, “Aw, got scared by a kitty cat.”
Getting off of his arms, and brushing yourself off, “You’re a cat!” Picking up your fallen phone, no cracks luckily, and glared at the wine red haired male. Leaving him to laugh again.
After walking around the warehouse, there was no ghost, just destroyed rumble and stray animals. Ronin got bored and wanted to head to his place, after all he did promise to play on his gameboy with you.
『0̶̹̠͕͋̓̀͝1̵̟̮̱͎͊̈́:̸͚̪̠̙̯̫̰̄͑̐͘̕͝1̴̠͎͖͎͉̹͕͕̹̅́̀̊̑͠7̸͔͍̥͉͚͇͗͊́̆̔̑̕͜ͅ』
Something was off, even after joining the server, something was off. Something makes your hair stand up. Something drastic, right?
Ronin was looking at you differently, like he was thinking deeply.
He invited you into a call while you were preparing your dinner. Talking about murder, well, until you said something that happened a bit into the future, without realizing it.
His end was silent.
“Ronin?” You asked, you stared at your phone. “Are you good?”
“Darlin’, what do you think about abandoned buildings?” He said, like he was thinking. But that was the last loop date with him…
“It’s something, why?”
“Afraid of cats? Jumping out?” You paused. Did… is he…
“Ronin…”
“You know my last name, don’t you?” His voice was a bit deeper.
“I do.”
It was silent before laughter. “This has to be fucking magic. Damn, fucking deja vu.”
“That I… still don’t know about.” You placed your cooking instrument down.
Ronin has joined the party. The fucked up cycle of Time loops. And it’s the first reset he’s enduring. You know there is going to be so much more for him.

A+ Student Pt.4
Masterlist!
(Fem reader, bit of angst.. ish? suggestive, dramaa , got a lot to catch up on so this is a pretty long part😚 you guys deserve it tho, not proofread!)
Summary: Y/n is a great student in her college, always getting good grades. Her college professor Matt, thinks she can get even higher ones with some “extra credit.” That is until she meets her new gym teacher..
Tumblr media
(Quick little note: hey guys I haven’t written in a while so I may be a bit rusty but I hope it’s ok)
“How’d you get here so early?” Lizzy walks up to me, I’m sat on the bench where Chris’ stuff was previously. “Oh I.. I came in here at break to get ready before everyone.. I feel insecure for anyone to see me getting dressed.” I lie through my teeth, less than half hour ago the exact person who is teaching us this gym class was balls deep inside of me.
“You are stunning y/n,” Liz chuckles “no need to be insecure but okay.” She side hugs me gently. As the class fills up Chris walks through the door from the cupboard, the exact one we were.. you know. His eyes dart to mine and I awkwardly smile. “Okay girls, we have an important choice to make..” he starts to speak.
“You have a choice between what you wanna do in gym class, basketball with me or soccer with Ms Jones.” He clears his throat, “so uh.. stand on this side of the room if you wanna do basketball, and that side for soccer.” He points and shrugs. I stand up and follow Lizzy, she starts to walk to the Soccer side and I pause.
“Y/n? You love soccer right? Come on.” She smiles, “I’d rather.. step outside my comfort zone, you know.. push myself to try something new.” I smile enthusiastically, but the truth is I just wanna see Chris more. “Oh okay! I’m good at basketball I’ll do it with you.” She walks back over to me.
There’s about 8 girls on the basketball side and the rest are standing for soccer. I guess they’d rather have a female teacher, I would too if my teacher wasn’t so hot, but it’s pretty bare I don’t know how we’d do with 4v4 in basketball. “You won’t like this..” Chris talks to the class, interrupting my thoughts. “We have to mix the female and male classes,” complaints fill the gym.
“I know, I know you guys don’t like it but, because of the work being done on the boys gym, the boys need to come into here. Temporarily, and then the class can go back to normal and we won’t have to split it.. okay?” He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. All of a sudden, the boys pile into the gym.
Chris explains what either options are and all the boys start to pick a side. It’s fairly equal in the end, either side having a good amount of us but I start to feel anxious at the difference in how many girls are doing basketball compared to soccer. There’s a good 20 boys on this side.
The other group goes to the soccer field and we stay put. I get budged by a boy, he’s gotta be at least 6ft. “Ouch.” I mutter, he turns around to face me and I realise just how tall he is, the height difference is too different I don’t like it. “You alright? Sorry my friends push eachother around.” He chuckles awkwardly.
“I’m okay thanks.” I go to turn away and his hand places on the side of my arm, I tilt my head in confusion. “What’s your name? I haven’t seen you around.” He smiles, his brown eyes looking down at me. “I’m y/n, I tend to keep to myself.” I shrug. “I’m Mason.” He looks me up and down, “how tall are you?” He laughs lightly.
“I’m 5ft 3.. why?” I smile nervously. “I’m just worried how you’d do with a bunch of 6ft something boys playing basketball. You’re the shortest here.” He laughs. I hold back a smile, “I’ll be good. Bye Mason.” I rolls my eyes and I feel his gaze burning into me as I walk to Lizzy. “Flirting much?” She smirks, “no.. he’s not my type.” I shrug.
“Hmm sure.” She laughs slightly, I look over and see Chris looking at me, he turns his head to face the boys putting up the basketball hoops. I smile to myself, “ohh.” She whispers, drawing my attention to her, “hm?” She grins, “you like the teacher? I thought you liked Professor Sturniolo?” I shrug and sigh.
“Right let’s get into teams, we need two captains to pick the people for their team..” Chris spoke, “what about you Mason?” He scans the room, “no girls wanna be captain? Okay then Will you can be the other.” He smiles. His perfect smile.. perfect teeth. “Y/n.” Mason says my name and I look up to him, “what?” I awkwardly look around, “I want you on my team.” He looks down at me.
I look around, I’m the second person he’s picked.. why me? I know nothing about basketball and I’m not even his friend. “Oh.. okay.” I walk over to him. I see Chris glaring in the corner of my eye.
The teams get picked, Mason picked Lizzy because she’s my best friend, Which is nice I guess. They start to play, I don’t know much on basketball and I freeze when 5 boys rush past me to get the ball. “You okay?” Lizzy calls to me, she’s lucky she’s a tall girl. 5’9, she can keep up with them but I look like a lost puppy.
“No.” I say back to her and she chuckles before pointing next to me frantically, I turn and a basketball comes plowing into my face. I freeze again, not wanting to embarrass myself by crying but that fucking hurt like a motherfucker. I feel tears build in my eyes and Chris runs over to me, “hey you good?” He speaks softly and calmly, hands on my shoulders.
“I..” I go to answer but I just start crying. Without thinking he pulls me into his chest and hugs me. The sounds of feet scuffing on the ground stops, “you’re okay, just a scratch.” He smiles as I pull away from the hug and he turns my face, holding my cheek and observing the scratch. It feels like nobody’s here, it’s just us. Until..
“Everything good in here?” Its.. Matts voice? Chris’ hands drop off of me and all the other people are watching me. I feel nervous as Matt walks up to us, “I don’t have a class, thought I’d watch my brother teaching.” He spoke falsely as his eyes meet mine. “She ok?” He’s talking as if I’m not there. “Uh yeah.. gonna need to clean the scratch though.” Chris awkwardly chuckles.
“I can take her to clean it? Maybe she can explain how she walked out my class earlier.” He smiles, and a few ooos come from people around me. “Uh yeah okay.” Chris says, but I know deep down he doesn’t want me alone with Matt.
“Come on.” Matt motions me to walk with him. “Distracted in class?” He spoke up, breaking the short silence. “Uh no. I wasn’t looking and it came out of nowhere.” I shrug. “At least Chris was there to give you a little comfort hm?” He spoke harshly and sarcastically. I just hum in response.
“Where’d you go when you stormed out of class?” He turns into the janitors closet, where the med kits are kept and I follow. “To the bathroom.” I lie, “don’t lie to me y/n.” He sits me down on a stool and grabs a med kit off the shelf. “I’m not..” he cuts me off by shushing me. “You went to gym class didn’t you? Wanted to practice? I bet you weren’t practicing basketball were you?” He hisses as he leans down with an alcohol wipe in his hand.
“I.. what do you” I breathe in sharply as he pushes the wipe on my face without warning, the stinging causing my eyes to water. “Ow.” I look up at him, blue eyes burning into mine. “You think I didn’t try to find you after you didn’t come back? I did.” He seems hurt.. does he know? He grips my chin and turns my head to get better access to the scratch which is bleeding lightly.
“What do you mean?” I speak innocently and he groans. “You’re a slut.” He smirks, “fucking slut.” He stands up and bins the wipe. “A slut? What do..” he cuts me off, “stop asking me what I mean y/n. You know exactly what I’m saying, you and Chris were.. practicing in the gym closet hm?” He sighs. My face goes red.
“I didn’t.. you were flirting with that new girl, I just..” I also sigh, he scoffs, “flirting? Don’t turn this on me, I wouldn’t have done anything with her but you? You brought it upon yourself to..” he grumbles as his eyebrows knit together, “well if you don’t want anything with me why should it matter? You said it yourself, you don’t wanna lose your job.” I smirk.
“I thought you wanted me y/n.. me.” His voice cracks slightly but he collects himself and leans against a shelf. “I’m a college student Matt, I’m gonna fuck as many people as I want and can, don’t take it personal.” I laugh. “You don’t get it y/n..” “no you don’t get it Matt.. I wanted you, so badly, I still do but Chris? He hasn’t treated me like shit.” I lean my head back.
“I’m sorry y/n. I just love my job I don’t wanna lose it.” He whispers, “you’ve made that clear professor Sturniolo. Thanks for helping with this scratch.” I get up and walk out the closet. He follows after me. I’m being dramatic I know, I’m making this about me, it’s his job and he loves it I shouldn’t try to get it the way but.. “Maybe I could show you that I do care?” He whispers as he catches up with me. “What do you..” I look at his face, his pupils have dilated and he’s smirking.
“Oh..” I turn to him, “what changed your mind?” I chuckle lightly, “I imagined Chris’ face when I tell him I fucked you better than he did.” He whispers his face full of lust, I fight my instincts to kiss him, because of cameras. “you really shouldn’t be so competitive.” I smile as I continue to walk. “Where can we go?” He mumbles.
“I’m not doing it with you right now, I’m still worn out from.. basketball?” I lie even though Matt knows what I mean, there’s a janitor at the end of the corridor. “Oh okay.” He fake pouts as I turn into the gym, “I’ll text you.” I smile before we part ways.
As I enter the gym, Chris walks up to me. “All good now?” He asks, tilting his head. “Yeah.” I smile lightly before I walk up to Lizzy, “you seem happy?” She laughs, “yep all good.” I feel someone’s hand on my shoulder and they turn me around. Mason, I forgot about him. “I’m so sorry, on behalf on James. Your cheek okay?” His hand hovers over the fading scratch.
I pull away from him, “yeah it’s okay thanks, maybe get James to apologise to me himself instead of you.” I look over at James, who waves awkwardly. “Copy that.” Mason spoke, stifling a chuckle. “Why are you laughing?” I ask, “Im sorry it’s just.. don’t worry.” He pats my shoulder and walks away.
Lizzy goes to say something but I stop her, “don’t. I’m not into him.” She laughs, “he’s into you though, why aren’t you into him? He’s tall, brunette, brown eyes, strong.. he’s the whole package.” I huff, “if he’s so amazing why don’t you ask him out?” I speak impatiently. “Because I’m.. I’m uh not into tall people.” She chuckles awkwardly.
“There.. you aren’t into his height and I’m not into his.. everything.” I smile softly.
Class ends and we sit in the gym, “wanna skip Math?” Lizzy speaks up, budging my arm to get my attention. “Where would we go?” I ask curiously, “the bathrooms? We can make a fake out of order sign and chill in there.” I laugh and grab her face, “Lizzy you genius!” I bring our faces close before letting go.
She clears her throat, “they don’t even use out of order signs anymore, they write it on paper it’s easy to copy.” She smiles at me and I quickly pull out my notebook, I hand her the notebook and a pen and she scribbles down “out of order.” She grabs tape out of her bag and sticks it on the top.
We run to the bathroom and stick the note on a door and sit in the cubicle. She sits on the toilet seat and I’m on the top of the toilet, where the flush is. My legs are either side of her and I accidentally kick her. “Sorry.” I whisper.
We hear someone enter the door and they start talking, “I’m telling you, I would climb him like a tree, have you seen his tattoos?” It’s the new girl, Kelly. “Not my type Kel.” Some girl speaks back, “yeah you love stuffing yourself full of bbc don’t you.” Kelly laughs loudly, “don’t say it like that, but.. basically yeah.” They start to giggle.
“Also how can you have a crush on a teacher? That’s like weird.” The other girl spoke, me and Lizzy are staying silent. “Yeah I wouldn’t do anything with him, I wish I could but maybe I’ll hit him up once we’re out of college.” She laughs, and they leave the bathroom.
She was talking about Matt.

PLEASE READ: CHAPTER 3
the golden afternoon sunlight shown down on lyric and clark’s faces as they waited for chloe to arrive. they were outside of the barn and clark wanted to kill time by shooting some hoops while lyric sat on the side to observe. as she saw him jog and dribble the basketball to shoot it perfectly into the net, she realized that clark had a very athletic build. she could see it in his arms, legs, and best of all, his torso and chest. lyric broke her stare and chided herself for such thoughts, but one had to be a fool to not think clark as tall, dark, and handsome by any means. he also had the proficient athletic skills, and almost perfect academic standing, but he never mentioned anything about being on one of smallville high’s several athletic programs. no football, no basketball, not anything. it just seemed like a waste of talent when she saw the ball flawlessly glide through the net once again.
“you sure know how to hoop, clark!” lyric complimented with a slow nod of approval. even though clark was a little exasperated, his smile couldn’t resist the girl’s praises.
“gee, thanks, lyric! i can’t take all of the credit. i learned mostly from pete’s older brothers and they told me it’s all about technique.”
“you never fail to be modest. that’s got me thinkin’— do you play any sports at school? you never mentioned it, but it’s impossible because you got the skill, you got the grades, and you sure as hell have the looks for it!” she enthusiastically hyped, gesturing her hand towards his six foot frame. for some reason, clark’s face got heated. his cheeks flutter with a hue of red. he wasn’t so used to friends of the opposite sex speak so fondly of his appearance. calm down, dude, it’s just a compliment. take it with a grain of salt. he clears his throat and shyly wipes the sweat off his brow with his forearm.
“well, i do want to play football. i’ve tried it once earlier, but things didn’t quite work out with the coach. he had some—anger issues among other shady things that my parents weren’t exactly comfortable with. hopefully, i can give it another shot down the road while we’re still in high school. maybe if i’m good enough, i could make the quarterback spot.”
clark said as he bounced the ball and stepped towards where lyric was standing. he could remember it like it was yesterday. he joined the smallville high crows football team after so many attempts to convince his parents to at least let him try out. they only forbade it due to the risk of clark’s powers being exposed, but he’d figured he’d have a handle on them by now, and it was an activity that made him feel like a normal teen. it was all fun and games until the head coach was caught helping his players cheat on tests, so they could play. when the principal got word of it and set out the proper consequences for the coach, things got heated…literally. clark spared lyric the details because she was already so curious about the wall of weird and the last thing she needed was for her to feel like she wasn’t safe in this supposed quiet small town.
“oh. well, that’s too bad, but when you do, i’ll be rooting for you from the stands! you’d have a pretty good shot at it. i’m more of a basketball fan, but i guess i can make the exception.” they both fill the air with light laughter and their conversation comes to a halt at the sound of a tooting horn. a vibrant, red volkswagen beetle swiftly pulls up in front of the barn. the driver’s side window rolls down to reveal a smiling chloe behind the wheel and pete seated comfortably in the passenger.
“hey, you guys! are you geared up for the most exhilarating studying session of your entire lives?” chloe wittingly questions as pete chuckles and shakes his head before chiming in,
“you can always count on chloe to call a regular old studying session ‘exhilarating’. ”
“hey! in my defense, wherever there’s coffee, i might as well do what i do with caffeine in my veins.”
clark and lyric give each other a knowing glance, a glint of humor within their eyes before they make their way closer to the car. clark leans against the driver side with his arm propped up against the top. his piercing blue eyes meets chloe’s gaze with a charm that she knew too well and loved too much.
“exhilarating, huh? it sounds to me like you’re putting that vocabulary list from english to good use, chloe.” clark commented with a lopsided smirk.
“well, if i’m ever going to make it big at the daily planet as a journalist, i’d better possess some type of flawless vocabulary, clark.” the blonde retorts and leans her head over to the side to spot lyric and greet her.
“hey, lyric! you can hop in and sit in the front with me, so we can have some girl talk on the way to town.”
lyric received the offer with a grin, but shook her head to politely decline. she saw that pete was there first and didn’t want to be rude by putting him out of his seat.
“i appreciate it, chloe, but i don’t wanna take pete—“
“oh, nonsense. he’ll be fine! he can just sit in the back with clark. it’s my car after all.” chloe urges by cutting her green eyes to the boy beside her, signaling him to move to the back. pete doesn’t protest. he gathers his bag and meets with clark in the right backseat as lyric meets with chloe in the passenger seat. the teens all buckle up their seatbelts and chloe pulls off onto the dusty path out of the neighborhood to journey to downtown smallville. during the ride, chloe’s natural inquisitiveness takes over when asking general questions about the new girl next door in her passenger seat. the boys casually sit in the back quietly to observe the conversation.
“so, lyric, where you do hail from?”
“new york. brooklyn, to be exact.”
“ah, another fellow city girl. i’m from metropolis which isn’t too far from smallville, but new york to smallville is quite a stretch. is there a specific reason why?” lyric purses her lips at the question and swallows to easily get past without dwelling too much on the reason.
“my family just wanted a new scene. someplace…quiet and peaceful.” her soft voice drifts as she gazes at the lengthy path of cornfields at the side of the road.
“that’s valid. um, so what do you like to do?”
“nothing too extreme. i like to listen to vinyls, chill with my cat, and i take some pictures here and there.”
“aw, a cat! what’s their name? if my dad didn’t have such a fatal allergy, i’d love to have a furry friend.” chloe enthusiastically coos passing the sign that indicated that they were entering downtown smallville.
“her name is noir. she’s a black cat that looks like she could do no wrong, but it’s a whole ‘nother story. don’t get me wrong, i love her with all my heart, but she’s so damn sneaky sometimes that she’s almost sent me into a nervous breakdown. i’ll say if it weren’t for her, i wouldn’t have met clark though, so i guess there’s a light at the end of that tunnel.” chloe presses further to her details of the day.
pete tuned in as well to hear lyric recount that hectic morning. chloe picked up on lyric’s tone. chloe liked to her the girl beside her talk. her voice was smooth, soft, and gentle like rain to the ear. she can hear the frustration of when lyric discovered that noir was missing in a new area shift to that of ease and resolution when she discovered a well fed and content noir in the arms of the noble farm boy next door. pete turned from lyric’s direction to momentarily glance at clark as she spoke. he witnessed the sky blue pupils of his best friend attentively focus on lyric as if he were hearing this story for the first time. there was a certain positive emotion that rested on his face, he even chimed in his own perspective and a little inside joke causing the duo to dissolve into laughter. pete saw that was usually new. when clark talked to girls, he’d be a bit guarded, but friendly enough, but from what he saw between clark and lyric just now, clark looked to be so at ease, so at liberty.
once the volume of the chatter diminished to a peaceful silence, lyric’s deep, brunette pupils wandered at the sights of the many local owned establishments this quaint city had to offer. there was quite a few people out enjoying the serene, golden afternoon as they strolled with their pets and families on the sidewalk. clark, pete, and chloe were kind enough to point out some key areas that were worth exploring for when lyric was ready to take that new step. they passed an array of shops, boutiques, restaurants, and community centers, but lyric had one burning question.
“these all seem really cool, ya’ll, but does smallville have a music store? i got a whole collection to keep up with at home.” lyric inquires with expectant glance towards the trio. pete immediately knew the answer as he and his family had lived in smallville for ages.
“i know one that’s not too far from here. i think it’s called main street melody. i believe from the talon it’s just down two blocks and it’s a cool place. i’ve been there a couple times for some mixtapes. we should go check it out after we study if you’re up for it.” pete stated scooting his body forward from the backseat to the middle, positioning himself with his elbows on the console between the girls.
“yeah! i’d like to see what they got. i really appreciate that, pete. you’re a real one.” lyric’s eyes locked with his and she flashed a congenial dimpled smile of gratitude to which pete took it with a tingling sensation in his stomach and a bashful grin of his own, his chestnut toned face heated slightly.
“i-it’s, uh, it’s no problem, lyric. i’m glad to be of some help.” he lets out a stammering chuckle and scoots to the backseat. a dazed, delighted look was etched on his face. he didn’t even notice that clark examined him with an arched brow and tilted head. guess i’m not the only one. clark thought to himself. chloe was listening to the conversation unfold, she chuckled after witnessing pete’s reaction to lyric’s natural beauty and charm. for a city girl, she had that small town girl-next-door charisma down to a tee.
“ask her out, why don’t you!” chloe snickered and slowed the car down to precisely parallel park in front of a building. like smallville high, it possessed the color palette of red, gold, and black. it resembled one of those classic movie theaters from the seventies and there was a large, neon sign that displayed the word, TALON, vertically letter-by-letter in gold lettering. lyric found it to be aesthetically pleasing in an old-fashioned sort of way.
“chloe!” the guys whine in sync at chloe’s forwardness, not wanting to be put out there in front of lyric. clark knew that chloe was directly talking to pete, but he still felt like he was caught doing something he shouldn’t. lyric chortled, shaking her head and playfully rolling her eyes at chloe as the girls unbuckled their seatbelts.
“come on, chlo’, don’t bug him like that! it probably didn’t mean anything. leave them alone!” she joked and leaned down to grab her belongings and passed over chloe’s bag for her to receive.
chloe shrugged her shoulders, pursing her pink glossed lips.
“i admire your modesty, lyric, but i’ve been around them long enough to know when a guy is completely smitten. you should ask clark when it comes to lana lang.”
clark’s eyes cut to chloe in annoyance with a deadpanned expression. despite chloe trying to humor lyric, there was a hint of envy underneath her lighthearted tone.
“girl, i already know! i mean, lana seems nice and she’s gorgeous, but you are too! who wouldn’t want to be looked at like that? it’s an exciting feeling—it’s an experience to appreciate while you still got it…don’t trip on pete and clark so much. they’re good guys.” she compliments with a glance towards the backseat and proceeds to gather her belongings, exit the car, and wait for the others to follow suit. clark walked passed lyric, chloe, and pete to hold the door open for all of them to enter to the crowded hangout. once she stepped in, lyric was amazed with the turnout of this place. she noticed that the main population were teens and young adults, but there were good bit of older patrons as well. the interior was setup like any lounge of a modern coffee shop with individual tables that were scattered throughout the room. the decor was set to look like the royal palaces and chambers of ancient egypt, the walls and pillars were engraved with hieroglyphics. there were lights that were strung along giving the room such a faint ambient glow. the warmness of the luxurious golds and yellows mingled with the cool, sophisticated regalia of the blues and violets. the talon was so immense that it had a stairway and so much more that lyric wanted to gawk at before chloe grabbed her wrist to leave the boys behind to grab a table and lead her to the counter. it was there where she saw lana lang preparing a drink order by maneuvering the large, chrome coffee machine. when the girls made it to the counter, chloe’s bubbly voice caused lana to stop what she’s doing and welcome them with an award winning smile.
“hey, you guys! lyric, i’m so glad you’ve came. welcome to the talon. so, what do you think of the place so far?” lana questioned with her hands to gesture at the lounge.
“thank you, lana! i love the setup, the theme, and it’s huge! no wonder why it’s so jumpin’ here. it looks like one of those old movie theaters from the outside.” lyric compliments which lana graciously accepted before she gives lyric the run down on how the talon was in fact a movie theater where her late parents met. she’d quit cheerleading causing her to fight tooth and nail against her aunt’s expectations of her high school career and to keep the place open by converting it to a coffee shop and movie theater after partnering with lex luthor. ever since then, the talon has been thriving more than ever.
“if it weren’t for lex, this place would’ve been a distant memory.” chloe stated, her eyes perusing the scene laid out in front of them. lana solemnly nodded in agreement.
lex luthor. where did lyric hear that name before? right, at dinner with the kents. it was the rich guy that clark saved and they’ve good been friends since then. i don’t remember much about what he’d look like, but he’ll most likely stand out from the rest of the citizens of smallville for sure. lyric sympathetically nods, lending lana her congratulations and condolences while still feeling curious.
“i’m so sorry for your loss, lana. they would be so happy that you did this to keep their memory alive. i respect you for that!”
“thank you, lyric, would i be more worthy of your respect when you get your first free coffee?”
the girls briefly giggle and lyric decided to play it safe by requesting a regular cappuccino. chloe ordered the usual for her and the guys before they both walk to find clark and pete at a corner table, with their books and papers all set out for the academic cramming to begin. one empty seat was to clark’s left and the other, to pete’s right. as the girls approached them, lyric lightened the mood at the sight of the boys’ serious, focused attention on the assignments.
“did we keep ya’ll waiting that long that you’ve already started the assignment that’s due next week?” lyric joked, sharing a chuckle with chloe when clark and pete’s head’s simultaneously peer up at the sound of her voice. chloe gestured to the empty seats,
“we’ve already ordered the study fuel, by the way. mind if we sit?”
“no, not at all. here, lyric. you can take this one.” clark offers after putting his book down on the table. he stands up to pull out the empty chair next to him for her to sit. lyric felt that familiar fluttering within her stomach as she came closer to the table to sit down next to clark. girl, calm down. he’s just being a gentleman, it’s not like he’s never pulled a chair out for you before. once she was scooted in and comfortable, she thanked him with a smile of gratitude and rummaged through her backpack to find the unfinished assignments she had to complete. chloe took the seat next to pete and she couldn’t help, but feel a bit—slighted. don’t get her wrong, as much as she loved clark (more than) platonically, she was unfortunately living with the reality that he would never reciprocate those feelings for the sake of their friendship and his own feelings for lana. although, she’d never seen him move so quick to have a girl next to him besides…lana. especially not a girl he’d just met a couple days ago. chloe pondered if it was just the effect of that house. god, what’s in the water there? clark nip? her train of thought halted at the sound of an annoyed ground.
“mmcht! don’t tell me that i— ugh, where’s it at!” lyric hissed as she frantically searched through her bag with a confused, yet frustrated expression.
“what’s the matter, lyric?” clark asked with inquiring, blue eyes.
“i think i left the monte cristo book at home. it’s only my first assignment and the last thing i need is to be behind even more. ugh!” she huffs and assertively zips the bag closed after gathering everything else.
“here, we can use mine. i haven’t quite finished reading yet, so we’re gonna have to split it.”
“that’s really cool of you, clark, but are you sure—“
“lyric, i insist. that’s what good neighbors are for, right?” he questioned with his amicable gaze locked with hers, flashing that cheeky, pearly white smile that she knew so well, but for so little. her face heated with a nervous grin and chuckle. to keep herself composed and promptly get the assignment done, she didn’t choose to argue.

“if you’re gonna put it that way, clark, i might as well. hell, it’s not like i got a choice. thank you—again.” she concedes and opens her notebook before scooting a little closer to clark to steal a decent glance of the text.
“it’s always my pleasure, lyric.” he softly responds with a lingering grin before filling her in on the chapter they’re supposed to report on.

as they silently read and briefly gave each other’s analysis of a phrase, clark’s attentive gaze focused on her as she spoke, but his nostrils naturally inhaled the scent of the sweet fresh, natural scent of cocoa butter mixed with hints of vanilla and coconut. it was such a pleasant aroma that complimented the smell of brewing coffee. clark was so caught up, that he didn’t even notice lex luthor waltz in the door with his fiancée, dr. helen bryce, traveling closely by his side with their fingers intertwined. the luthor’s eyes darted from table to table to find his good friend with his usual circle. to his avail, he found them at their table in the corner. there was also another person he hadn’t seen before and she was sitting awfully close to clark while chatting and taking notes. lex found it odd to see clark in such a position with a girl besides lana. with burning curiosity, he lets helen know that he’s going to speak to clark momentarily while she can use his card to get them some coffee and pastries. helen agreed, as she wanted to minimize any interaction with the farm boy knowing what she knows, but she’ll civilly swing by after she handles business at the counter, so they go their separate ways.
“long time, no see, clark.” lex says as he strides to the table of the four preoccupied teens that shift their attention to him. clark receives lex with an amicable smile and immediately greets him back,
“hey, lex! it’s good to see you out of the shadows of the mansion. how’re things going with you and dr. bryce?”
lex casually grins while stuffing his hands in the pockets of his tailored pants.
“not too bad. we both had a bit of a catastrophe of a work day, so we decided to unwind with some coffee and sweets. i hope i’m not interrupting important, you seem to be preoccupied—with your studies.”
“oh, no, not at all. let me guess, you and mr. luthor had another falling out?”
lex confirms with a silent, tight lipped nod. his inquisitive eyes shift to lyric who returned her own curious stare.
“i guess i left my manners with my father back at the mansion. it’s nice to meet you, my name is lex luthor, ceo of luthorcorp , and you must be…?” he pauses, leading her to answer,
“i’m not trippin’ over it. i’m lyric. lyric james. my family and i just moved here from new york on saturday. i’m also clark’s new next-door neighbor and i’ve heard so much about you, mr. luthor.” she cordially regards, knowing this man was definitely not in high school. he holds his hand out for her to grasp and shake briefly before pulling their hands away.
“all bad, i suppose and please, call me lex. my father, lionel, should be referred as such.”
“no, sir, mr—lex. not from the way clark talks a good deal about you. i won’t front, i’ve heard some bad, but i can’t be the one to judge too quick because i don’t know you like you don’t know me. you must be lucky to have a friend like clark to save your life.”
“when you say it out, lyric, i couldn’t agree more with you. i’m always grateful for him and the kent’s. perhaps one day, you’ll see what i mean.”
lex received her statement with a warm smile upon his face. whoever this james girl was in clark’s circle, didn’t know him from a can of paint and still gave him a fighting chance without the use of a bribe, blackmail, nor smalltown gossip. he could see why the farm boy had a bit of a entranced look on his face towards her when he walked in. there was definitely something about her that was more than more than outer beauty. lex all of people would know.
as lyric and lex finished their conversation, she didn’t notice a blushing clark that hastily averted his gaze from her to his book, but she did see a beautiful young woman saunter from across the room and stop to stand closely beside lex. she possessed long brown hair, round brown eyes with long lashes, and full pink lips. by the way she stood so close to lex, lyric could obviously tell they were romantically involved.
“lex, they didn’t have the maple scones today, so i just got us some danishes and our usual drink order.” the woman said, handing him the pastry and a cup of coffee which he gratefully received by kissing her on the cheek. she pulls her blushing face from his lips and amicably greets the group before her,
“hello! i hope you all are doing well. chloe, pete—clark, and i’m sorry, i don’t believe i’ve seen you before. my name is dr. helen bryce i work at the local hospital here in smallville. who might you be?” she inquired with her amber gaze pointed to lyric. lex helped to save the girl’s breath by giving helen the introduction.
“thank you, helen. this is lyric james, she’s the kent’s new next door neighbor. her family had just moved to smallville from new york a few days ago.”
helen squinted and registered the familiar surname before the lightbulb of realization came on,
“ah, right! when i heard “james”, i had a hunch it was you. i know your mother, crystal, she’s one of the newest nurses on my team. even though she just started, i can tell she’s a very dedicated woman to the profession. she’s mentioned that she had a daughter attend smallville high and here she is. it’s so nice to finally meet you, lyric.”
“likewise! thank you, dr. bryce for the kind words about my mom. it was great to meet you both!”
lex and helen bid the group a farewell and took their exit of the establishment. lyric beamed at the praise about her mother. it made her feel a twinge of guilt when she felt an ounce of resentment towards her parents for working so many hours of their demanding careers, but it warmed her heart at the knowledge that they made a difference, no matter where they went. hopefully, she’ll be able to live up to that expectation. two hours of studying pass by and the sun was beginning to set. chloe, clark, pete, and lyric are ready to throw in the towel and start packing up to go home. lyric wanted to check out the main street melody store, but one, she was already exhausted and two, she had a ride that she wouldn’t dare to keep waiting. she’d see it again another day.
one by one, chloe drops off her friends and wishes them a goodnight. once they made their stop in front of kent farm, chloe doesn’t leave without lyric spotting her a ten for gas. clark spectated as the girls playfully argue for two minutes because chloe kept refusing and lyric kept insisting. given her order was free, she didn’t have to spend anything and she wanted to return the favor. chloe finally conceded, took the money with gratitude, and pulled off, leaving lyric and clark alone again in front of his house. the quiet silence was filled with the sound of chirping crickets and the steady footsteps of lyric and clark as he walked her home. as they approached the james house, the driveway was bare and most of the lights were off. it appeared that her parents were still at work. clark didn’t feel right with her staying all alone in the house. outside of the light snack and coffee, he wasn’t certain if she had dinner. not to mention, the welfare of her black cat that he’s grown attached to. they stood on the large, round porch at the front door. lyric searched her bag to retrieve the entrusted house key. when she reached to turn the lock, the touch of a hand on her shoulder caused her to stop and turn around.
“what’s up, clark?”
“lyric, i think it would be safer for you and noir if you guys stayed at my house until your folks get home. at the end of the day, it’s your decision, but if you come over, you can try to call your parents and let them know. if not, just reach out if you need anything.”
lyric pondered on the farm boy’s offer with pursed lips. she was so used to this back home and it was quiet around here, so what could possibly go wrong? or so she thought, what if one those people infected by meteor rocks happened to stumble on what seemed to be an empty house with an unsuspecting teenager and her vulnerable feline sleeping peacefully? with a careful review of clark’s perspective and a deep sigh, her mind was made up.
“if it’s cool with mr. and mrs. kent, i’ll leave my parents a message, scoop noir, and we’ll be there. i didn’t want to intrude because i’ve done this before. i—“ she was cut off when a rumbling sound erupted from her abdomen. the two were dead silent for two seconds before clark broke it,
“i guess you wouldn’t mind intruding for dinner and you do know that you’re always welcome, right? judging by the sound of your stomach, it looks like you wanted to come over anyway.” he teased with a lopsided smirk.
“not too much on me, clark.” she playfully chided with her finger pointed in his direction. their laughter fills the air as she unlocks the door and she invites him to follow her inside. it didn’t take long to hear that familiar mewling sound and the soft jingling of a collar. noir cuddled herself against her owner’s ankle to receive loving pets upon her furry head, chin, and spine. when the cat spotted clark, she stood on her hind legs, tiny paws pressing against his jeans. clark took his cue to scoop her in his arms and gently hold her while lyric stood and watched in awe. she won’t lie, she loved how trusting noir was with clark. it made the butterflies in her arise when he saw this gentle giant of a farm boy cradle noir like that was his child. to keep herself down from cloud nine, she had another idea.
“hey, you want to listen to some records after dinner? that’s only if you want, we can just come back here and chill. it’s no pressure, if you’re tired i’d un—“
“lyric.”
“yeah, clark?”
“were you ever going to give me the chance to say ‘yes’?”
he grins, softly bouncing noir in his arms. she releases a faux gasp and playfully whacks him in the forearm, causing him to dissolve in laughter.
“i—clark kent! don’t mess with me right now, i know i talk a lot, but it’s been a long day. there’s nothing wrong with valuing other people’s time.” his gaze softened as he watched her take a piece of hair from that fell in her face to behind her ear.
“okay, okay. i’m sorry for teasing and thank you, i respect you for that. i’d love to come over to hear some records. it’s about time i’d expand my musical horizons. just like how you explored a literal horizon with your camera.”
“you’ve got a way with words, clark. now i can definitely see you being a journalist now. it’s a deal. you give me early morning sunrises and i’ll give you late night jam sessions, ya dig?”
he gives a nod of approval and lends lyric the chance to use her landline to call both her parent’s work extensions. crystal didn’t pick up, so she left a message. fortunately, joseph answered and gave his approval, but sternly teased lyric for her and clark to listen to records with her door open, whether he or crystal were home or not. the james girl concludes the conversation before her and clark proceed to take the familiar path to kent farm where she and noir were warmly received by jonathan and martha. they spent the next hour and a half indulging in the hot meal that was meticulously prepared and they were going around the table to share how their days went. even noir was content in the tuna and milk that was prepared for her by martha. when all were fed and the kitchen was tidy, the teens return back to the james house where lyric leads clark upstairs to her bedroom.
“welcome to my crib!” she exaggerates with wide arms as they enter and he chuckles at her quip. even with the new posters, furniture, and arrangements, clark knew that this was lana’s old room. he’d only really caught a glimpse of it through his telescope or within his odd dreams concerning his powers, but actually stepping foot inside felt so surreal. his blue eyes peruse to various spaces like to her bed, vanity, closet, and the overall setting that made the room reflect lyric of who she was. this was now her home, her room, and her space, so clark had to make peace with the fact that the past was in the past. it’s time to live in the now.
she led him to take a seat on her plush, lavender rug. while playing with noir in his lap, she walks a few feet away and squats to the record player to routinely adjust it to the proper settings. they endure a comfortable silence as lyric places the vinyl from stevie wonder’s 1971 album “where i’m coming from” on the turntable after scavenging through her growing collection.
her fingers gingerly lift the head-shell to delicately place the needle on the vinyl. as it starts to spin, the soft, soulful notes of “never dream you’d leave in summer” began to fill the room, lyric found herself lost in the music, her ebony gaze shifted to the window where the sky had transformed from a warm gold to the deep, dark shade of her cat’s coat. the melancholy melody solemnly filled her senses as the memories of him start to flood back like restless waves in the ocean. the song crooned, and lyric felt that painful lump form in her throat and the heaviness weigh in her chest. the memories all flash back within her brain —images of laughter, love, warmth, and the sharp sting of loss and betrayal that she thought was left in brooklyn still seemed to follow her no matter what she did , where she went, or who she talked to, lyric can’t forget about him. she glanced at clark who immediately met her gaze. his defined features softened by the dim amber light of her lamp. as his eyes were starting to paint the image of concern, she pondered on how long she could keep her inner turmoil a secret any longer. besides her parents, he was the only one who picked up on her sadness during the sunrise.
she realized that as the music played on, it was like a bittersweet reminder of everything she had faced back in her hometown. her bedroom suddenly felt charged with an energy that gave her the courage to speak, to finally share the real reason that why the james family would move all the way to smallville, kansas. after taking a drawn out breath, she turned her whole body to him, her lips slightly agape before she breaks the silence,
“clark, do you remember this morning when i was acting a little funny when it came to taking those pictures?— i tried so hard to play it off like it didn’t bother me of why i stopped, but if i’m going to live in the present, i need to let the past of my chest. if we’re going to be friends, the least we can do is be honest with each other, right?”
clark slowly nods and he could hear her heart racing. he sensed there was an urgency, she was scared, but of what? of who? he had hoped to the stars that it wasn’t of him. did he slip up and then perhaps she saw him use one of his powers? neither the matter, his concern was growing and he placed his hands on top of hers.
“lyric, you can tell me anything. i’m so glad that you could trust me enough to do that. just know that i’m here for you. i’m listening.” with a nod of his head, the look in his encourages her to take the time she needed.
she took one last deep, deep breath. she closed eyes her briefly to gather the millions of thoughts she had into one story.
“back in new york…i had a best friend. he became my first love then he became my worst enemy, and he’s long gone, but clark, i can’t let him go… his name was omar.”
BROOKLYN, NY 2000-2001
omar reyes was lyric james’ childhood best friend back in new york and her first love. he was a sweet boy that lived a decent childhood until his parents divorced and his dad had full custody of him after his mother moved away. to keep himself busy, omar decided to play basketball all throughout elementary and middle school. he’d study more often to make his parents proud and boy, were his grades were top tier. in the midst of that studying, he grew fond of science and anatomy, but his mind was already made up that he wanted to be a professional NBA player or a coach like his father after college. lyric could remember when he was just practicing shooting hoops on the street after the older kids excluded him for being too short to play and even though she didn’t have a deep knowledge of the sport, she learned to love it as she supported him. lyric pushed omar to show those bullies he that was capable of exceeding anyone’s expectations. the bond between him and lyric was unbreakable. omar was the one that gifted lyric with the hoops that she oddly still adorns to this day, they had their first kiss on her thirteenth h birthday, and when they turned fourteen, omar confessed his feelings and officially asked lyric to be his girlfriend to which she immediately accepted and the bliss of young love took its course in their lives.
Tumblr media
he was a great first boyfriend for lyric. loyal, kind, affectionate, attentive, and humorous. her parents enjoyed his company, but things took a turn when they entered high school and not for the better.
omar seemed kind of…off.
he seemed to appear to be thinner and more fatigued than usual, but he just dismissed it as stress from school, sports, and life in general. while practicing in the gym, he had a hard fall that resulted in so many bruises on his body that he had to quit basketball indefinitely, so the school wouldn’t be held liable. it all came to a head at the beginning of freshman year when he was tutoring lyric at her place while crystal happened to be home preparing dinner. everything was fine until omar stood up to go to use the restroom and then he harshly collapsed to the floor after taking one step, rendering him unconscious. crystal urgently called the paramedics and his father to get him to the er. after the doctor ran some tests, omar was diagnosed with stage two leukemia and had to start treatment right away. lyric didn’t hesitate to stay by his side and visit the hospital as much as she could for the strength her boyfriend, herself, and their relationship. lyric hoped and believed that the treatment he was receiving would be the light at the end of the tunnel and everything would return to normal, right? wrong.
it all changed so drastically as the condition worsened from stage two to stage four. omar had to be sent to duke hospital for treatment. duke hospital was in durham, north carolina—which was almost five-hundred miles away. omar and lyric decided to make a long distance relationship work by writing letters and talking on the phone when they were both available. lyric and omar consistently corresponded with each other those first few weeks. well—mostly lyric, but she understood because he needed to focus on getting well and the best she could do was stick by him like a loyal girlfriend, right? she added in something special to each letter, a developed photo that she snapped with her camera. each photo possessed the inspiration that captured the essence of their home and memories.
days turn to weeks, and weeks into months with no update from neither omar nor his parents. lyric grew weary, a bitter vile feeling within the pit of her stomach. something wasn’t right. one day, she came home after school and she was baffled to see both of her parents were home, sitting in the living room. they tell her to sit down in order to relay the message from the reyes family: omar lost his battle and he was gone. lyric was so in shock that her parents voices faded out, so she couldn’t even register the details of a funeral, a wake, or a cremation. seven days of mourning passed and the event of the funeral arrived. clad in all black with dark loc shades, lyric was cold and numb, but at the urging of omar’s family, she was permitted to say heartfelt remarks about the deceased. how could she explain a lifelong bond within two to three minutes? she looked at some familiar and unfamiliar faces in the crowd as she recounted her times with boyfriend—well, ex-boyfriend. by the time she was done, the tears silently rolled down her cheeks and her mother consoled her through the entirety of the service. everyone in attendance came back to reyes’ home to eat, give their condolences, and chat about the mundane. lyric was seated on the sofa and just stared at the minimal portion of food on her plate. she’d rarely had an appetite during the time of her bereavement. her state of disassociation was paused when an unfamiliar, high pitched female voice breaks her out from her solitude.
“so i guess you must be lyric, huh?” the james girl gazed at the other teenaged girl in front of her. she was a few inches shorter. although heartache painted her face, she had striking features that consisted of tawny brown skin, deep almond shaped eyes, high cheek bones, and full lips.
“is this seat taken?” the girl asked to which lyric shook her head side to side, giving her the cue to sit. the girls sit in an awkward silence for about two minutes and the latter began to speak,
“i already know your name, so it’s only fair that you know mine— i’m trina davis. um, my mom and i came up from north carolina to say our final goodbyes. she was actually the lead nurse that helped with omar’s cancer treatment at duke.”
“it’s nice to meet you, trina. how long are you in town for?” lyric inquired.
“likewise! we’ll be flying back the day after tomorrow—lyric, may i ask you a question?”
lyric deliberately nods and placed the untouched plate from her lap onto the coffee table. she turned her body to trina, awaiting the question.
“i don’t want to pry, but i’m gonna try to make this make sense as much as possible. so—i’ve heard in your speech that you were omar’s girlfriend, how long have you guys been together?”
“well we made it official this past july. he got diagnosed in september, went to duke in october, and now it’s february, so a good six months, if my math is on point.” she dryly chuckled.
“why?” lyric quizzed and her eyes caught onto trina’s dumbfounded expression. lyric noticed the gulp that ran down the girl’s neck as her jaw clenched.
“you know how i said that my mom was the lead nurse for him, right?”
lyric nodded again to lend the girl a listening ear. trina began to explain how her mother had inspired her to work in the field of caring for cancer patients, so she decided to do volunteer work by reading to the patients and keeping them company, you know to get that experience. that was when she met omar in mid october. she would read titles such as to kill a mockingbird or the count of monte cristo. omar expressed that he was looking forward to reading those books in his honors english class, but life happened. with her mother’s permission, the teens would sit in the hospital garden and chat beyond the analysis of the characters in the texts they’ve read. on a weekly basis, they’d converse about their pet peeves, hobbies, interests, music tastes, favorite movies, and anything under the sun really.
at the start of november, trina sat at omar’s bedside and he was dozing off. that was her cue to leave silently and she ran into a nurse who had an envelope with omar’s name on it in his hand. trina told the nurse that omar was sleeping and that she will place it on his bedside. the nurse gives the envelope to trina and took his leave as she examined the enclosed message. her natural nosiness wanted to know of the hand that inked her new friend’s name in blue with such skilled calligraphy. trina stopped herself from her the temptation to open it and sat it down beside him. the next week in the garden, she questioned omar about the letter. he then dismissed the value of the letter and that it was his from his “home girl lyric” from his hometown. to ease trina’s worries, he reassured her that would read it later that day.
omar received lyric’s letters frequently, but with the sickness that took toll on his body had hindered his correspondence. it wasn’t like omar didn’t cherish her letters and photographs that he received at first, but with each passing day his heart for their relationship grew more distant as he started to grow more tired of his condition and tired of his life. omar couldn’t sit in denial that he fought the good fight for long enough. at that point, he was ready to raise and wave the white flag in surrender, but he didn’t want to tell lyric anything. he didn’t want to cause her anymore heartbreak than he already had, so he just stopped responding all together. he had hoped that one day lyric would find it in her heart forgive him, whether he lived or not. trina unknowingly accepted the answer and reassures him that his friend would understand. she joked that if she was his girlfriend then there would be some suspicions, but if they’d agreed to make that work, then lyric would be a saint.
by thanksgiving, trina and omar grew closer in their emotional connection. even though trina enjoyed the day with her own family, she found it in her heart to urge her mother to drop by duke to at least deliver omar a light plate of her grandmother’s home style cooking, with his appetite willing. jovial at her mother’s approval, she was already up the elevator and knocked softly on omar’s door before she sauntered her way in with her offering. the teens faces beamed as they saw each other after a short time apart. trina placed the aluminum foil covered plate to reveal the basics such as turkey, dressing, mac n’ cheese, and potato salad. omar looked at it like it was first —or last meal. he told her he’d eat it tomorrow when his appetite allowed him and she put it to the side. the two made small talk before she attempted to leave the room only to feel a hand meekly grab onto hers.
“omar is everything ok—“ her sentence was cut short as her face collided with his chest and both of his arms encircled around her. trina was stunned at this.
“just stay with me…. i’m scared.”
he pleads for her presence and her heart grew heavy in sorrow as omar’s tears rain on her scalp, so stayed for a little bit longer. omar knew that he wouldn’t have much time left and he needed her to be by his side until then, so it didn’t take long for them to get emotionally involved through the holiday seasons until his untimely demise.
lyric sat there as her emotions internally wreaked havoc in her mind. she swallowed before she stuttered her words out.
“y-you’re telling me t-that you and omar were—
Tumblr media
“yes.” trina somberly interrupted. “we were together until he died. he only called you his good friend, so i thought it was okay. i’m so sorry, lyric. i swear i didn’t know because he’d rarely talk about you after that.” trina’s voice started to crack and got higher in pitch as the tears rapidly streamed down her cheeks. she gazed down at the ground with such guilt and disappointment.
“god, i wish that my nosiness made me see the truth in that letter, but i respected him that much, so i didn’t. lyric, i’m—“
“it’s fine.” lyric cut her off.
“no—no, lyric, it’s not fine. we knew of his condition and he knew it was getting worse, but it doesn’t give him the right to fool us like that. especially not to you, i only knew him in his last moments and you, his whole life! if i were you i’d be—
“don’t tell me how i should feel, trina. i said it’s fine.” lyric sternly affirmed, her face stoic as her finger brushed a piece of hair from falling in front of her eye. she deeply sighed as her eyes looked up at the white ceiling, sliding her tongue across the front of her top teeth before resuming,
“you didn’t know, so i’m not mad at you, trina. i just wish i knew why he would do that and i know that i will never get my answer. not from you and definitely not from omar, so in that case, it’s fine.” lyric wraps her arm around trina’s shoulder to wish her the best when she travels back to north carolina and departed from her seat on the couch before fishing her parents out of the sea of visitors and informing them that she was ready to leave due to nausea. not exactly a lie, but a good excuse for the james family to leave quickly to their home.
to say that lyric was an emotional wreck was an understatement. for those next few weeks, her tears poured out until they ran dry and irritated her skin. she secluded herself within the four walls of her room, all day and all night unless she had to relieve herself. she didn’t care anymore. reassuring words didn’t fix this. sleeping for several hours didn’t fix this. toni braxton’s “unbreak my heart” on repeat certainly didn’t fix it. she closed herself off at school and floated by to at least pass the ninth grade, she didn’t want to celebrate her fifteenth birthday back in april, and the only ones she invited into her life were noir and the tunes on her record player.
her parents were worried that it was just more than omar’s death that caused their daughter to spiral into such a state and they made that decision to get her counseling when summer break began. in the first and second sessions, the therapist wanted to get to know lyric personally on her own with her parents waiting outside the door. by the third session, joseph and crystal were present in the room. lyric didn’t want to speak nor cooperate. she was surprised that she got out of the sanctuary of her bed and went in the car without putting up a fight. no matter how many questions they’ve asked or exercises they were trying to perform, she’d stay frozen like a guarded statue until she reached her boiling point when asked,
“tell me this, lyric—if omar were sitting in this room what would you say to him now?”
her brows furrowed and a scowl was painted on her face. every muscle tensed as the word vomit was about to explode all over the office at the mere thought of that boy—that coward.
“everything around here reminds me of you. i want to let you go because you hurt me. you hurt me and i don’t want to think about you, but i need answers! how the hell could you break my heart without me noticing until you were gone?!”
lyric rose to her feet and began to pace around, her dark eyes shifted to a corner where she could see a vision of him so vunerable as he laid in the hospital bed, with trina at his side. “i swear, omar, if you weren’t dead already, i’d kill your ass—why the hell would you agree to a long distance relationship when you knew it wouldn’t work, huh? if it wasn’t gonna work, why didn’t you hit me up or write me back? all i did was send you letters to tell you how much i loved and missed you, omar, but you just gave up—and you didn’t want to tell me, but you had the strength for somebody else. a girl you knew for a couple of months! wow. why? why, huh? WHY!?”
lyric confessed her plight to the therapist and her chest heaved as she collapsed with her head buried in her hands. her body was quivering as the hot tears flooded like water down her face. joseph and crystal quickly come to her aid. they had never seen their daughter be so enraged and emotionally inflicted. later that night, crystal and joseph had a private conversation, made some phone calls, and decided it was best to get lyric away from new york indefinitely.
SMALLVILLE, KANSAS 2002
“so, that’s why we really moved here. that’s how we ended up here in kansas. we had to get away and find a new scene, so that i couldn’t appear as the girl that went mad with grief, but clark i still have those moments where i feel so empty. i felt like i was left to hang alone.”
by the time she concluded her story, the intensity of stevie’s voice increases, lyric tears up a bit and her lips start to quiver. she takes a deep breath and averts her gaze up to the ceiling to bottle up what she couldn’t contain any longer. before she knew it, a pool of tears started to flow down the smooth, brown skin of her solemn face. clark clutched onto her hand to lightly squeeze it of reassurance.
“you’re not alone, lyric. i know what it’s like to lose someone and they’re the only ones who have the answers that you need. you feel that you miss them because…they’re the key to the truth and there’s nothing wrong about wanting to know the truth, no matter how life altering it could be. we just have to—oh!”
clark is interrupted when her arms are clutching to his torso and her face buried was near his middle.
“thank you—so much. all you’ve done was help me since i came here. i can’t be grateful enough for you, clark.” her muffled, soft voice vibrated against his skin.
clark responded with one action that night: being there for her. he immediately wrapped his arms around her and let her sob her sorrows out until she dozed off to sleep with her head in his lap. noir sat by their side and observed the two as her tail softly swished across the floor. thankfully, lyric was a heavy sleeper. clark gingerly adjusted his body off the floor, so that he could carry her bridal style to gently lay her on the bed. he managed to tuck her in within the lavender duvet as he heard a car pull into the driveway and the sound of her parents call out to her. clark jogs downstairs to formally greet mr. and mrs. james. clark explains what went on that evening and that lyric was safely tucked in and asleep.
at first her parents were so worried that lyric would suffer from another breakdown when the omar situation was brought up, but they felt relief wash over them as they knew that clark was there every step of the way and that she was safe. they appraised him with their gratitude and offer for him to visit often. his family had made their family welcome and it was in due time to return the favor, especially for all of what the young kent has done for their daughter. clark bid the james family a goodnight and walked off of the porch before giving a final glance to lyric’s bedroom window. it was completely dark and his eyes of blue met with the yellow-green of noir’s. the feline was perched on the window sill.
“take good care of her for me, girl.” he said to the distant cat in a hushed tone before utilizing his super speed to get him home in a timely manner.

Not so Subtle- Aomine x fem!Reader
Return to File
Recovery date: April 8th, 2024
Description: Hiii omg could you write something for Aomine Daiki? Female reader, tall, large chest and midsize pretty please 🙏🏽 Ok, so it would take place after Seirin's win of the Winter Cup (so he's less of an asshole, but still yk). New girl student, settling in really good, she's pretty, funny, confident and witty. So he can only like, like her. They banter a lot and get friends really fast, fall in love, yadayada. Summed up: friends to lover, female/tall/witty/large chest/midsize reader OH! Bonus if you can make a scene with Kagami showing some interest in her.
Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with an anonymous researcher, we thank them for their contribution. I had a ton of fun writing this! The reader's physical appearance doesn't come up much, but as I was writing i considered her to be around 5'10" so she was slightly taller than Momoi and slightly shorter than Aomine. Also, reader's conversation with Kagami can be interpreted as having visited or being from America.

Starting at a new school halfway through the year is a terrible experience. The easiest way to make new friends is to bond over being in a new environment, having few to no friends, and the stress of exams. Showing up in January skips over all of that and leaves you to make new friends with your own social skills.
“Hi! I’m L/n Y/n, can I join you guys for lunch?”
“Hi! I’m L/n Y/n, can I be on your team today?”
“Oh, hey, you walk home this way too? I’m L/n Y/n.”
Y/n has no idea why her parents were so worried about starting her in a new school so late in the year. This was easy. Sure not everyone she talked with ended up being her friend, but she’d somehow ended up involved with the basketball team.
Scratch that, she knew exactly how she’d wound up as one of the basketball team’s managers.
“Y/n-chan!” Momoi squeals, throwing herself at the other woman’s back.
Momoi’s arms wrap around Y/n’s shoulders and the woman leans forward so that Momoi is laying on her back as they both laugh. When Y/n stands back up Momoi carefully drops back to the floor and links their arms together.
“Sa-chan, welcome back. Over your cold?”
“Mhm.”
The two continued over to the gym. Momoi was practically leaning against Y/n with her head on the taller woman’s shoulder as she complained about the last few days.
“Dai-chan didn’t even visit me! Let’s see how he likes it when I don’t visit him next time he’s sick. He probably wasn’t even practicing,” she grumbled.
“Hate to break it to you but he was.”
“Of course he was, seriously, I thought losing to Seirin-”
“No, I mean he was practicing.”
Momoi stopped, hand outstretched to the gym door, and turned to face Y/n. The annoyed pout she’d been sporting during her rant morphed into a wide smile.
“Really?! I’m so glad.”
Y/n laughed, reaching past Momoi and opening the door.
“I mean, I had to hunt him down yesterday because he skipped class and fell asleep, but ya he's been-”
The squeaking sound of shoes on the gym floor, followed by a dunk and yelling cut her off. The managers looked over to the hoop on the far end of the court and found Aomine being chewed out by Wakamatsu. Aomine’s attention, however, was drawn towards the women as the sound of the door closing echoed through the gym. He waved, turning Wakamatsu’s attention away from him and allowing him to slip away to the stage.
“Momoi, welcome back, are you feeling better?”
“Much, thank you!”
“Aomine!” Y/n yelled, stopping the forward half way across the gym. “Apologize.”
“I didn’t do shit!”
“That’s the problem!” Wakamatsu complained. “You absolutely could have stopped that dunk.”
“Dai-chan-”
“I wouldn’t worry about it.” All eyes turned to Y/n who’d taken a seat on the stage. “I mean, I’m sure that red haired dude from Seirin would love to get some dunks past him, Aomine’s just being considerate.”
“Hah?”
The rest of the team turned away, covering their mouths, to stifle their laughter as Aomine’s face visibly twitched in annoyance. Momoi cleared her throat and took a deep breath.
“Dai-chan, practice seriously. Seirin will be here soon.”
It was still weird for the team to see Aomine listen to people. Sure he dragged his feet plenty, in this case literally as he made his way back to Wakamatsu and the rest of the team, but since the Winter cup he was seemingly more open to suggestions. And when suggestions didn’t work, the new manager seemed adept at getting under his skin enough to make him want to do whatever it was he needed to.
Momoi joined Y/n on the stage and pulled her clipboard out of her bag.
“He likes you,” Momoi whispered as she flipped through papers to find her notes on Seirin.
“Not this again.”
“He listens to you, he doesn’t even listen to me!”
“He listens to you.”
“Only if he already wants to do whatever it is, remember last week when we were studying? He tried to take a nap and he only went back to studying after you asked.”
“Okay, he likes me… as a friend that he acknowledges won’t deal with his bullshit.”
Momoi rolls her eyes and hands Y/n the clipboard before resting her chin on her shoulder to see the paper.
“I’ll prove it to you,” Momoi muttered. “Alright, so…”
As the team got some last minute practice in, Momoi gave Y/n a last minute crash course on Seirin.
Just as they were getting to the bench players, Momoi’s phone rang.
“Tetsu!” She squealed as she accepted the call and slid off the stage. The team stopped practicing and Wakamatsu got everyone to start cleaning up. “How did you guys get lost?”
“Yo.” Y/n looked to her right to find Aomine leaning against the stage. He slid a piece of paper over to her feet, the number 74 was written and circled in red marker. “Thanks.”
“Seventy-four, nice.” She picked up the test and gave it a quick once over. “Impressive, you didn’t get a zero on any of the questions.”
“Ya, well I had an okay teacher.”
“Sa-chan got a ninety and I got a ninety-eight, so you own us ice-cream today.”
Rolling his eyes, Aomine snatched back his test and stuffed it in his bag.
“Sorry we’re late!” A chorus of voices called out.
The two first years turned to find the Seirin basketball team, being led in by Momoi, taking their shoes off. Momoi skipped over to her friends and grabbed Y/n’s hands, pulling her from the stage.
“Come on, there’s someone you need to meet!”
“Alright, I’m coming. We’ll talk more after the game, Aomine!”
---
Tōō won, ending twenty points ahead of Seirin. Not unexpectedly as Kuroko’s misdirection was completely useless and Kiyoshi was gone. What was unexpected was the way Aomine seemed to be targeting Kagami, whether that be scoring through Seirin’s ace or shutting down as many of his scoring attempts as possible. During the break after the first half, Wakamtsu had chewed the ace out for showing off.
“We’re winning, aren’t we?”
“This isn’t about winning, it’s about getting better!”
Aomine had just shrugged.
“I think he’s jealous,” Momoi whispered after the players had left at the end of the break.
“We’re in the middle of a game.”
“I think it’s because you were talking with Kagami.”
“You were the one who said I should meet him,” Y/n huffed.
“I had to test a theory.”
“What theory?”
Momoi glanced over at Y/n, but was cut off by the coach clearing his throat.
Seirin headed out almost immediately after the game, while the Tōō players cleaned the gym. This time, Y/n walked them back to the bus stop so that they wouldn't get lost again. When she got back, she found Aomine sitting on the steps with her bag.
“Where’s Sa-chan?”
“She left, said she was feeling kind of tired and wanted a rain check on her ice-cream.”
Aomine handed Y/n her bag, and the two made their way to the school entrance.
“No post-match debriefing today?”
“I have no idea, everyone was being weird as fuck.”
Y/n nodded slowly. It was a logical conclusion that Momoi had introduced her to Kagami to make Aomine jealous, and that she’d convinced the team to clear out before she got back so that they’d be alone. Skipping ahead, Y/n turned around to face Aomine and kept walking backwards. It didn’t seem like they were being watched.
“Speaking of weird as fuck-oof.”
“Wall.”
“Fuck you,” Y/n grumbled, making Aomine laugh as she stepped around the wall and on to the sidewalk. “What was up during today’s game?”
“What about it?”
“Sa-chan thinks you’re jealous.”
“Tch, jealous of what?”
Y/n shrugged. “Race you to the convenience store!”
“Hey!”
Obviously Y/n didn’t plan to win. Aomine pulled ahead of her almost immediately, once he recovered from the surprise, and maintained a decent lead to arrive at the store just before her without leaving her completely in the dust. He laughed as she finally arrived and immediately collapsed against the side of the building, trying to catch her breath.
“So, what’s my prize?” He grins, bracing an arm above her and leaning in so they were eye level.
She raised her index finger to his face.
“Would you like to cash your prize in now or save up?”
“Why did Satsuki say I was jealous?”
“That’s what you want your prize to be?”
Y/n straightened up and joined Aomine in leaning sideways against the wall.
“Answer the question or you’re buying ice-cream.”
“Ah.”
Pushing off the wall, Y/n grabbed the front of Aomine’s shirt and pulled him into the store after her. The two made a B-line for the frozen section at the back.
“She thought you’d be jealous I was talking with Kagami,” Y/n shrugged, picking up Aomine’s favorite popsicle and her own.
The sound of the freezer closing filled the store, and the buzzing of the lights seemed incredibly loud in the silence that followed. Y/n looked over at Aomine to find him staring at her. She held out his popsicle, waving in front of his face when he didn’t immediately take it.
“What were you two talking about?”
“Huh?”
“You and Kagami. Why was he blushing?”
“Oh my god you’re jealous,” Y/n mumbled.
Aomine grabbed his popsicle and pushed the back of her head as he walked towards the counter. A wide grin spread across Y/n’s face as she chased after him, setting her treat next to his.
“We were talking about America and he was blushing because I said it was cute that he and his brother have matching rings.”
“Don’t call him cute.”
“I didn’t call him cute, I called the idea of having matching rings cute.”
“I could get us matching rings,” Aomine muttered.
The sound of the convenience store bell nearly drowned his voice out as they left the store, but Y/n was right on his heels and barely caught it.
“Sa-chan also said you like me.”
Y/n ran right into Aomine’s back when he stopped suddenly. She watched the back of his head as she unwrapped her treat and started eating.
“I think it’s funny that everyone thinks I haven’t figured it out.” Aomine’s shoulders tense up. “I mean, I wouldn’t say you’re subtle when you look at my boobs.”
Y/n gently kicks the back of Aomine’s heel, urging him to keep walking. When he didn’t move she sidestepped him and started walking in front of him.
When he didn’t keep walking with her, she turned around.
He didn’t look stunned, definitely flushed, but he looked impatient– like he’d been waiting for her to turn around. Y/n inclined her head.
“You could’ve said something.”
“I could’ve,” Y/n shrugged as she walked back up to Aomine. “But I wanted to see the great Aomine grovel, just a bit.”
He frowned.
“What does that mean?”
“It means you need to ask me out.”
“Go out with me.”
Y/n sighed. “That wasn’t a question.”
“Nope, now let’s go get burgers.”
Aomine opened his popsicle and wrapped his free arm around Y/n’s shoulder as the two headed down the street.

Hiii could you write about meeting Caitlin’s family?
WORD COUNT: 920 WORDS
SUMMARY: Caitlin brings you home to meet the family, and quickly, the worry of lack of approval washed away.
Authors Note: I kinda like it, but it's also kinda generic.
Warnings: Use of Your Name, and other than that, nothing just fluff.
Tumblr media
The sun dipped low in the sky, casting a warm golden hue over the quaint suburban neighborhood where Caitlin grew up. Her hand resting on your hip as she leads you into her childhood home. You could feel a mix of excitement and nervousness bubbling within you; meeting Caitlin’s family was a significant step in your relationship, and you wanted to make a good impression.
As you stepped inside, the familiar scent of freshly baked cookies wafted through the air, instantly putting you at ease. The walls were adorned with framed photographs capturing moments from Caitlin’s childhood—her first basketball game, family vacations, and candid shots with her brothers. It was clear that this home was filled with love and cherished memories.
“Mom! Dad! I’m home!” Caitlin called out, her voice echoing through the hallway. You could hear footsteps approaching, and your heart raced slightly as you prepared to meet her parents.
Brent and Anne appeared from the kitchen, wiping their hands on dish towels. They both wore warm smiles that instantly made you feel welcome. “Caitlin! There you are!” Anne exclaimed, pulling Caitlin into a tight embrace before turning her attention to you.
“And who is this, love?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
“This is my partner,” Caitlin replied proudly, giving your waist a gentle squeeze. “I wanted you to meet them.”
“Oh! Well, uh, nice to meet you! I’m Anne, and this is a little unexpected.” she said warmly, extending her hand for a shake. You took it gently but firmly.
“Hi! I’m [Your Name],” you introduced yourself, feeling more at ease as Anne’s smile widened.
Brent stepped forward next, his demeanor friendly yet protective. “It’s nice to put a face to a name.” he said with a chuckle. "Brent's the name.”
You exchanged pleasantries before being ushered into the living room where family photos lined every surface—each one telling stories of laughter and togetherness.
Just then, two young men burst into the room—Blake and Colin—Caitlin’s brothers. Blake was tall with an easygoing charm, while Colin had an infectious laugh that filled the space around him.
“Hey! Are we having company?” Blake asked playfully as he ruffled Caitlin’s hair affectionately.
“Stop it!” she laughed, swatting his hand away while rolling her eyes in mock annoyance.
Colin approached first with an outstretched hand. “Nice to meet you! I’m Colin,” he said enthusiastically before pulling you into a quick side hug that caught you off guard but felt welcoming nonetheless.
“Yeah! We’ve heard so much about you,” Blake added as he joined in on the fun. “Hope you’re ready for some serious competition later!”
Caitlin shot him a warning look while trying to suppress a grin. “What do you mean by competition?”
“Oh nothing,” Blake teased mischievously. “Just some family games later tonight.”
As everyone settled down in the living room, Anne began preparing dinner while sharing stories about Caitlin’s childhood antics—like when she tried to dunk on a mini-hoop at age five but ended up falling flat on her back instead.
You listened intently as Caitlin chimed in occasionally with playful rebuttals or embarrassing details about her brothers’ pasts—like how Colin once tried to impress his crush by cooking dinner but ended up burning everything instead.
The atmosphere was light-hearted and filled with laughter; it felt like home already despite being new territory for you.
When dinner was finally served—a delicious spread of pasta and salad—you all gathered around the dining table. The conversation flowed easily between everyone as stories were shared over plates piled high with food.
“So [Your Name], what do you do?” Brent asked between bites of garlic bread.
You explained your job briefly while also mentioning your interests outside work—sports being one of them—which immediately piqued Caitlin’s brothers’ interest.
“You play any basketball?” Blake asked eagerly.
“Oh yeah, call me Lebron.” You admitted playfully but couldn’t help but feel excited at their enthusiasm for sports discussions. "That was sarcasm.." you further explained, giggling to yourself. One thing about you is you'll never fail to make yourself laugh, even at dumb jokes.
“Oh, Ok. Lebron, We should shoot together some time.” Colin suggested in a  enthusiastically teasing manner while Caitlin nodded approvingly beside you.
After dinner wrapped up with dessert—a homemade chocolate cake—you found yourself sitting next to Caitlin on the couch while Brent brought out old family albums filled with memories from years gone by.
As they flipped through pages filled with snapshots of younger versions of themselves playing basketball or going on trips together, it became evident how close-knit this family truly was—and how much they cared for each other deeply.
Caitlin leaned closer against your shoulder as she pointed out various pictures from her life—the pride evident in her voice as she recounted each story behind them, which made your heart swell even more for her.
Eventually, after hours spent reminiscing and laughing together over shared memories (and maybe even some embarrassing ones), it was time for Blake’s infamous family game night—a tradition that always ended in friendly chaos!
With board games sprawled across the coffee table and snacks piled high nearby, everyone settled down for what would surely be an entertaining evening filled with competitive spirit mixed with playful banter among siblings—and now including you too!
As laughter echoed throughout Caitlin’s childhood home under that warm golden glow from earlier in the evening—it became clear that this moment marked not just another milestone in your relationship but also an invitation into something beautiful: becoming part of this loving family dynamic alongside Caitlin herself.

mmmm knife feathers will try and remember to make a version comparing it to a bird wing later
In the meantime, here's the solver wing compared to the disassembly wing
Tumblr media
Those feathers are so, so dang long
The longest (top most one in the drawing) is equal to, maybe even a little longer than the disassembly drones are tall. The "arm" section is then a little over 2/3 the length of that feather. Which would make the two wings together about 3 1/3 of the drone's height.
Did some math a little while back, that put N at around 5'9" (~175 cm). Which, if true, would make his wingspan (and this is a very rough estimate mind you) ~19'2" (~584 cm)
To put that in perspective, the average giraffe is 18 ft tall and the regulation height of a basketball hoop is 10 ft. So if one of them crawled up on a basketball hoop, the tip of their wings would be just shy of touching the ground.
That, and the fact that's a strong yet flexible metal, is what makes it such a good shield. Covers their entire body and can easily take a hit for feral solver drones. (Also great for long distance stabbing.)
Now, some maybe wondering: "If the one feather is longer than they are tall, how the heck does that fold into their back?".
Personally, I'd say that nanites are the simplest answer. We already know for a fact they have nanites because of the acid. So it's not too big of a stretch to say they also have nanites that assemble into their wings. (This can also double as an explanation for how they keep so many weapons in their arms)
