And neither will we.

Book Blurb: For fans of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and Veronica Mars, this whip-smart thriller follows a sapphic detective agency as they seek the truth behind a growing trail of missing girls in small-town Louisiana.
A year ago, beloved cheerleader Stella Blackthorn vanished without a trace. Devastated, her younger sister, Iris, launched her own investigation, but all she managed to do was scare off the police’s only lead and earn a stern warning: Once she turns eighteen, more meddling means prison-level consequences.
Then, a year later, the unthinkable happens. Iris’s ex-girlfriend, Heather, goes missing, too—just after dropping the polarizing last episode of her true crime podcast all about Iris’s sister. This time, nothing will stop Iris and her amateur sleuthing agency from solving these disappearances.
But with a suspicious detective watching her every move, an enemy-turned-friend-turned-maybe-more to contend with, and only thirty days until she turns eighteen, it’s a race against the clock for Iris to solve the most dangerous case of her life.
Review:
One year ago, Stella Blackthorn disappeared and her younger sister Iris launched her own investigation but there was nothing... and now a year later her ex-girlfriend Heather also goes missing and Iris will do everything to find out what happened. Iris and her sapphic detective agency are going to do whatever it takes to find out what happened but that means confronting her ex-best friend who betrayed her and is also doing her own investigating and a cop who is threatening to arrest her if she continues to obstruct the case. Iris knows that the disappearances of her sister and her ex girlfriend are connected because two days after her ex releases the podcast episode based on on her investigation of Stella’s disappearance she suddenly vanishes. Iris will have to try and find out what happened to both of the girls she loved but someone else knows she’s investigating and with only 30 days left until she turns 18 and will be faced with prison-level consequences if she’s caught investigating on the case by the police, Iris and her friends have their work cut out for them. This was a fun mystery read and I had fun getting to know Iris and her friends. It definitely was a fun one til the end and I would recommend it for fans of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and Veronica Mars!

just read "how to find a missing girl" and honestly it was kinda meh. I didnt hate it but I didn't love it. it was good dont get me wrong, but at some points it felt like it was trying too hard to be "a good girls guide to murder" but it just didn't hit the same. the plot twist wasn't as shocking and I didn't get as invested with the characters. I definitely still like it tho, lots of rep too! the characters have this kinda 2016 tumblr humor that I find fun

"Playing games with me, Iris?" Collin purrs. "How interesting. You're less like your sister than I thought. You know, she was still alive after she fell over that banister. She begged me to call an ambulance, but of course I couldn't do that, because then I'd have to explain what she was doing at my house in the first place. So I put her out of her misery instead."

this might be just 3 am thinking but I think the saddest and most frightening thing, at least to me, is being alone.
not physically alone but mentally and emotionally alone. it legitimately scares me.
I'm a girl, so I know my parents and siblings are with me for only a while. it's scary to even think about loneliness. I'm fine with being alone, without a person, but being alone even when there is someone with you? that sounds terrifying.
the scent of dish soap, the soft whirring of a washing machine, the broom you forget to put back in place after cleaning. all that becomes a nightmare so quick.
it makes me sad that anyone, including me, is vulnerable to such a future. an other person who makes fears come true.
the very thought of being alone in such a circumstance makes me scared.

i think the one thing that makes me feel the most autistic forever is Fashion. it's difficult to describe how, because i think i have a decent grasp on Character Design - like i have a sense for what *i* think looks cool!! and i'm sure i'm swayed by trends just as much as anyone, like i have a distinct memory of suddenly being Really Into Purple as a teen, and i thought it was just a thing i had discovered by myself but it was actually a year when purple was a really trendy color and they were selling cute purple clothes everywhere. i can rummage through my old clothes and recognise that wow, these pieces are heavily reminiscent of the early 2010s. sure!!!!
but when people talk about Fashion it's greek to me. 95% of the time i am presented with a picture of allegedly Bad Fashion i cannot understand what's wrong. we make fun of the way people dressed ten years ago but if ten years ago could aee how we dress today they'd be laughing at us?? and it's really so anxiety inducing to consider i might have zero self awareness about whether i dress ok or like a clown in other people's eyes, so i have no choice but to own it. my understanding of Dressing Good is finding pieces that are comfortable on your body and look flattering to you, whatever that might mean.
idk i just feel like an alien that can't understand earth language but i'm doing my very best to pick up on words as i go along

scully whispering “oh my god” in paper hearts when roche tells mulder that he just wants to see his face when he finds samantha’s body is one of the most affective small moments of the series. scully so rarely lets anything slip, so rarely speaks from a place of emotion rather than rationality, so rarely doesn’t have her words carefully chosen when she does.
but it’s just SO CRUEL!!! it’s just so cruel. and all mulder can do is sit there silently. it’s scully that jumps up and screams. i love the way she goes over to the door and just opens it and stands there, waits firmly for mulder to quietly follow her. she just gets him out of there without directing a single word towards him.
