i think i find comfort in vashwood because of their unwillingness to say outloud how they care and love for one another. like CANONLY, theres so, so much they dont say, yet their actions reflect everything.

i’m pretty sure i’ve spoke on this before but i like to think that they never say more than they need to because of the world they live in, the type of people they are, the type of upbringings theyve had. it all stems back to them not really feeling worthy of the love they are offered.

wolfwood who only thinks of himself as some fucked up modified killing machine and that he believes theres no chance someone as kind hearted as vash would see the good in him, or what little there is left of the good in him. he’s done nothing but kill, he could never redeem himself, and yet vash isn’t scared nor shuns him for it even with his pacifistic ideals.

vash who has seen the brutal truth of wolfwood’s being and still decides he loves him to the very end.

vash who doesnt believe he deserves any ounce of love or commitment because he only hurts those he gets close to. it’s happened before and itll happen again, like hes a walking time bomb and everything will blow up again and the people close to him will die no matter what he does. and wolfwood who canonly sticks beside him until the end! literally calls himself his guide.

vash who has never had true companionship in his 150 years of living, and wolfwood who follows him to the ends of gunsmoke.

just up until vol10, theyre still toeing the line of the relationship theyve created. but the exact moment vash shows up and chooses to prioritize wolfwood over going after knives (the fucking thing he’s been working towards since the big fall, over a hundred years ago) is the moment he steps past that line. its so extremely open and explicit, even wolfwood asks him ‘why are you here?”

while what he says here is true yes, it also sounds like “you cannot die, i’m here to ‘save’ you because i want to live.”

then to this when wolfwood knows and accepts he will die— the sheer HORROR on vash’s face when he realizes wolfwood wont allow him to save him.

few pages ahead, vash’s monologue starts and these old panels come up. “deep down, he had become very close to me.” basically implying that back then, during the ‘shoot’ moment, they weren’t really close. and when vash accused him: “you’re the coward here.”, “you give up all hope so easily”, it was almost surface level in a way? talking to him at surface level

but now, so many chapters later when wolfwood really does give up hope, vash, with all of his developed love through out the story realizes how differently he feels now. wolfwood made him put a fucking gun to his head (giving up hope), and vash who only scolded and accused him, vs vol10 where when wolfwood gives up hope, vash feels straight terror, that he’s really going to lose him. (also the inverted panel is just so gorgeous.)

the whole “isnt that right, wolfwood?” just proves my entire point that vash’s presence here in this fight steps over the line of vulnerability they had created. he knows how he feels, and he knows that wolfwood feels the same, even if hes speaking to him indirectly.

and hes so fucking smart with the way he does it too???? i LOVE his intelligence. the entire thing is so simple yet elegant; it Completely relies on his reputation as the kinda gullible harbinger whod Never scheme or hide Anything to indirectly affirm or deny his suspicions. he doesnt Need to Pretend to care about the possibility of arle betraying the kids bc he genuinely does!! and when she pushes back against the accusation he doesnt Need to fake admitting to her that well, actually, its all just rumors so he could be completely wrong. and so on. like he navigates the entire thing so effortlessly. and whats the end result?

childe has Confirmation of pulcinellas possible ulterior motives in action AND that arlecchino is a much more reliable ally than he initially assumed. all the while appearing as just The Straightforward 11th. like obviously id need to hear it voiced first to be sure but in text it v much gives the impression hes almost kinda just. playing up the threats towards arle and being "dumb" on Purpose?? to get the answers he wanted out of arle without appearing like hes fishing for anything particular. and i just hhhhhhhhhhh

i love when he does this so muchhhh!!!!!! 😭😭 he doesnt need to become some machiavellian schemer to be able to strategize !!!!!! he avoids scheming bc he Dislikes it not bc hes incapable of it like this has Always been the case Since Liyue AQ and i love whenever they show that side of himm . my Beloved

childes appearance was obviously v brief ultimately but that was clear from his leaked linecount to begin with - i am pretty satisfied with what they seem to have done w him. like its not The Best but also i wasnt expecting his lore to get some massive expansion in another harbingers SQ . the worst i feared was that it was just going to be a flashback of arle returning his vision which did Not happen so massive W. i am super hyped to hear this scene voice acted proper and happy to see him again, i really hope he gets to appear at least once more in an interlude or dains quest or something before going on hiatus again but idk if thats too much to ask LKKWJDJWDJWD

as a filmmaker and a photographer i cannot stress this enough, we are ALWAYS thinking about whats in the background of the image. if theres something in the background that is kinda questionable or isnt visually appealing, theyre either an amateur with cameras or theyre trying to tell you something else. and if the image in question is on a platform like netflix its 1000% the latter.

im currently filming my thesis and im constantly changing my angles to include things in the background that would be more meaningful and give more context to the story. i also have ALWAYS done this in my photography. im always thinking about every aspect of the image and how i can show multiple different perspectives by taking advantage of the background as well as the foreground. its one of my favorite things to do when im taking photos.

THAT BEING SAID!!!!!!!! all of these camera framing and angles are so extremely intentional and i lose braincells every time someone tries to say that theyre accidental and dont mean anything. cinematography accidents do not happen at this level of professionalism.

They just. Know nothing about how time works. I think it's beautifully written.

It's the most serene form of adultification of Jikook I've seen so far. Don't get me wrong. Jikook are adults, yes. But they've not always been adults.

But I mean, I would come to the same conclusion too if I was looking at jikook in media res. It's very easy to look at them as they are now and think - for lack of a better word- highly of them because they look like two professionals and two self respecting adults who have control over their charged "chemistry" on screen.

My honest opinion is that this person is a Jikooker but a hesitant one for whatever reason. They're definitely a Jikooker thou. I'd sit on the same table with this person. Aspen: oh boy we all know where this is going! Aspen experiences chronic nightmares to the point of being scared to even fall asleep. These usually revolve around being betrayed by anyone Aspen's on good terms with, being found out as a monster and attacked, or they're based around traumatic events! Said traumatic events most often being Aspen's time in isolation or... honestly, anything with Agnus and Cleo. Aspen has a lot of nightmares about those two. As for actually managing them, Aspen would rather suffer than tell anyone. Aspen usually just tries to avoid falling asleep in the first place or, upon waking up from one, will try to find a distraction (usually getting some work done) so Aspen doesn't have to work through it.

Cleo: Cleo doesn't have nightmares that often, actually. I decided to be nice to him for once, surprising I know! Still more than the average person though. When he does have nightmares, they're often about him being cast away by people/almost killed for being a monster... or Aspen. There's something to be said about Aspen and Cleo having nightmares about each other. Anyways, he usually doesn't have anyone to tell about them in the first place, but if he did he'd probably just say it was a nightmare and refuse to tell anyone the specifics. He's insistent on being able to handle his trauma himself, so he'd deny help if anyone offered it. He's the type to wake up, force himself to calm down and get over it, and then try to go back to sleep. Fun facts about Cleo, this man falls asleep at 10 pm and wakes up anywhere from 9 am-12 pm.

Agnus: Agnus actually usually doesn't dream in the first place. She only started having "dreams" recently, which are actually just snippets from Venus's and Atlas's memories of their mortal lives. Seeing your god in mortal form witness their girlfriend's mutilated corpse hanging from a tree should count as a nightmare, but honestly Agnus just laughed her ass off when they got to that part. If she did have a nightmare (most likely just about Atlas), she'd just wake up with an overwhelming sense of emptiness and dread. It's possible she's had nightmares about Aspen and Cleo before, but she'd instantly forget when she woke up anyways.

Aspen: Everything with Cleo. Literally everything. Aspen also used to have a lot of guilt over lying to everyone, but Aspen's become so used to it that the guilt has mostly faded away and been replaced with numbness. Aspen suppresses all of the guilt, insisting Aspen is above feeling bad about anything. It's in the past now, after all.

Cleo: Cleo's grown used to his guilt, embracing it and using it to justify seeing himself as a monster. It's usually over people he's hurt, physically or otherwise. He also feels guilty for lying to people about being human the entire time he was growing up with Aspen, but it's not so much as feeling bad as it is just being disgusted with his own actions. There's a difference. He handles his guilt by punishing himself for it. I will add!! Cleo feels absolutely zero guilt over wanting to take down society, and much less than he should for suggesting the idea to Aspen and causing them to part ways. He fully believes he's in the right.

Agnus: Agnus cannot feel guilt! That was actually one of the first emotions she had ripped out of her, centuries before she ever met Aspen and Cleo. Atlas figured it would be an immediate problem for something designed to be at times an optimized killing machine, so he removed it. If she could feel guilt now, it wouldn't affect her unless she was able to feel attachment again and got her memories back, upon which she'd probably isolate herself for at least a week trying to comprehend it. She'd end up still trying to convince herself that she did nothing wrong in the end, and never show any remorse no matter how strong it got. She has a reputation to uphold, after all!

having an f/o whos a full on villain who at first refused to believe you ever liked them in even a platonic way, not because they look down on themselves, but because theyre well aware of how terrible of a person/being they are and they cannot fathom why you would willingly try to get close to them romantically.

so they push you away and try doing things that they assume will get you to dislike them but nothing works at all. no matter what theyve done to you, it never seems to get you to like them less.

eventually they give up and ask your other f/os why they like you so much, and why you like them. they start to go on their own tangents, with reasons for each topic. describing how you like them for their personalities and behaviors, and how they like you for who you are as a person. most importantly, they like how you see them as more than just their character role in a story and how you try to look deeper into their reasons and traits.

the f/o thinks on this for a bit, and decides to finally give in, doing very small and meaningless activities with you to try and get more comfortable with your company. over time, they begin to see you less as an annoyance, and more as just a new part of their life that they have to deal with. then soon, its no longer them just tolerating, but actually willing to hang out with you in private and do things together, like talk about things in length or enjoy a movie/show together.

when time progresses, a lot of little details start to show. theyre willing to talk to you more openly, not hesitating on what they say. they touch you more often, holding your hands or having their arms around you, and vice versa where they let you touch their face or hug them. they start to nonchalantly ask how your day is, if youre feeling okay, even knowing when to give you space to yourself till youre ready to converse.

things have finally gotten more intimate. they can now hold you in their lap and/or you hold them in your lap. you both can cuddle in bed with a blanket on and fall asleep peacefully. you can freely talk about whatever you enjoy and they will listen as best as they can, and you can do the same for them.

most importantly, theyve fully acknowledge that you like them. for who they are and what they bring by just existing. and a part of them finally feels good about it, in an "i can appreciate it" or "i'm flattered" way. and youre even rubbing off on a very small part of them, because lately theyve been thinking about you in a way similar to how you think of them, and theyre no longer disgusted by the idea of being that close to you anymore. they actually start to enjoy, and sort of crave it.

its still going to take work for them to be more open about it and for you both to have a proper conversation on where your relationship is going. but so far, things seem to be working out for the both of you, and you, and even them, hope its smooth sailing from here.
