I know I said progress will be slow, but actually writing is a good distraction so it shouldn't take much longer than usual.
I'm working on the first draft as usual, then when it's like... second or third draft I'll code it into the demo. The reason my writing takes so long (aside from the fact it can take me like 5 mins to write a single sentence) is because a decent amount of time needs to pass from the first draft to the second. Upwards of a week, but more is better. That so I can look at the text with a relatively fresh eye. (though that's for the "trees". for the "forest", aka overall story consistency, it's upwards of a month...)
No sneak peeks this time, but! We can have fun facts instead!
Fun fact #1: the swampy setting was originally inspired by the Fortress faction of HoMM3.
Fun fact #2: Pillars of the Light was originally the name of a different fantasy game I was writing. One day I had this bright idea of making a story where instead of a mysterious, tortured hunter, you were the handler of said mysterious, tortured hunter. The setting was somewhat based on Brittany, and the first location you visited was a sunken city. With mermaids. ...it was also written pen on paper, and I lost the notebook, and then I overwrote its game files with current PoL on accident.

the job im in rn finishes at the end of the month. in september im moving to get a master's degree. so im looking to fill in my august with something 💰productive💰 and i just got a call for a job interview and for some reason i am extremely nervous. im confident in my ability to get the job but i feel so shitty to be so short term about it :( i know one of the benefits of my field is that employers are always hiring and desperate for new folks. i have a few times gotten jobs by lying about how long i intend to stay but i HATE. HATE doing that. it feels like such a dick move, in my career especially.
still.... a month is like a thousand euro that'd be pretty sick considering i prob wont be able to work once i start the msc...........

A brief collection of wishlists:
Hibi and Muse are close friends, secret lovers, enemies that have their moments. The King/Queen of Muse's kingdom passes away and they're forced to step up and take the crown. Jealousy and tension ensues! Hibi and Muse try to keep their relationship the same, but that shit's a lie. Hibi's kinda super pissed the crown just fall into their lap like wtf. Muse is fucking stressed and under a lot of pressure but Hibi's like 'get over it, lets ride horses or something, screw the court.'
Mutual! Manipulation! Using one another for their own benefit. Muse is just trying to get close to the King and Queen, and Hibiko is just trying to get the fuck out of the castle. Hibiya is trying to gain leverage with another kingdom and Muse wants to get back at their parents and rebel, or play with Hibiya's heart because he has all that money, he ain't spending it on shit, spend it on me.
Pirates! Pirates!!! Mermaids?
One of the two things I will never shut up about is Titanic. That class disparity being forced into the same room. That fuck it, I'm never going to see you again, I'll spill my guts on the dance floor. The second is "I slept/made out with you last week because I'm feeling really self deprecating and hoped to leave that night in the past. Why are you now surrounded by Yakuza that know who I am?" being met with "My boss just wanted some muscle for a quick job, why are you here and why are you royalty?"

yknow AI art has ruined an entire genre of painting to me, i saw one of those smooth anime-realism pieces and immidiately thought ''ugh, AI art'' until i noticed it was posted by an established deviantart user 6 years ago. like ive never been a huge fan of that genre but it looks like a pretty difficult style to master and i feel bad for the artists who specialized in anime-realism only to have their entire market jacked by people typing keywords into midjourney.

You guys rlly don't realise how much knowledge is still not committed to the internet. I find books all the time with stuff that is impossible to find through a search engine- most people do not put their magnum opus research online for free and the more niche a skill is the less likely you are to have people who will leak those books online. (Nevermind all the books written prior to the internet that have knowledge that is not considered "relevant" enough to digitise).
Whenever people say that we r growing up with all the world's knowledge at our fingertips...it's not necessarily true. Is the amount of knowledge online potentially infinite? Yes. Is it all knowledge? No. You will be surprised at the niche things you can discover at a local archive or library.

watching bridgerton and obviously there were a lot of things wrong with the way socializing has worked in the past, but honestly the idea of a "calling hour" is so appealing. office hours for friendship. you can show up unannounced at my home between 1 and 3pm. you must leave by 3pm. I may give you a pastry. lets bring that back
