If I was an apostate born to a family of apostates living in the most unsafe place for people like me in the World, and yet I continuously risk my safety to help others like me be free and happy at every turn, for years, with my best friend witness to all of it—
And then said best friend implies the only reason I did any of it was to impress/please my significant other who also runs in these circuits? To have my best friend diminish what I had done and sacrificed to...attempted flattery? To have him by my side for six years, my rock, suddenly turn around and say he doesn't actually feel one way or the other, that he was just humoring ME and I took it too far? That none of this would have happened if it weren't for old what's his face? That would break my heart. That would be grounds for an ultimatum that would shake the foundations of the city.
Like how dare Varric, honestly. No wonder he feels like he wants a redemption arc in inquisition. Maybe it's sinking in that his centrism, if not his refusal to look anything ugly in the face, is what broke a very special and important bond. Anders didn't pull Hawke away. They were always walking in the same direction. Varric just saw a fork in the road and froze instead of following.
This is not Varric hate at ALL I am just chewing on the delicious gristle that is Hawke&Varric friendship. They are soulmates. They needed each other, but weren't meant to remain. They were a lesson. They were a growth opportunity. Each of them made the other famous.

There's an interesting, telling parallel that I wanted to point out from the most recent episode - a couple of conversations that stood out to me for what they suggest about how far Juno has come.
Way back in Train From Nowhere, trust was a big and repeated theme; Nureyev kept asking for it, Juno kept listing all the reasons why that would be a bad idea, all leading up to a conversation with Valencia:
VALENCIA: It's not going to work between you and Rose you know. JUNO: What makes you think - VALENCIA: Opposite sides of the law. Had you playing right into his hands, giving him the Ruby 7, giving him whatever's on the train that scares you so much. Rose and Engstrom. They're just thieves, Steel. The only difference is that one of them makes you feel all funny inside.
Valencia makes the suggestion that Juno doesn't truly know Nureyev or his real motivations. And while Juno does choose trust, eventually, he also makes the demand that Nureyev turn over the Ruby 7 to the HCPD after all of this is over... just in case she's right. Just in case there's a trick or a trap underneath all of it.
Compare that to the newest episode, to Nureyev trying the exact same thing:
NUREYEV: You think you know me. The nameless thief. You presume, just because I've told you my real name and let you peruse a few carefully-curated passages of my life story, that you have access to a "real" me that nobody else does. Is that right? JUNO: This isn't gonna work, Nureyev. That journal was true. I know it was. NUREYEV: How could you possibly? JUNO: Because I know you.
Nureyev wants Juno to doubt his motives - doubt his honesty. He wants to rile up that untrusting, suspicious side of Juno and make him hesitate; he wants to instill even a moment of uncertainty that might mean Juno will leave him be.
It would have worked on Juno in season one. Even if he didn't believe Nureyev and saw through the ruse, there would be a part of him ringing alarm bells and keeping his distance. But this Juno? Who has chosen, deliberately, to trust? This Juno is resolute. He knows exactly what Nureyev is trying, and why, and he knows Nureyev well enough that he doesn't even pause. Doesn't give the idea so much as a second of consideration.
Worth noting, too, that Nureyev doesn't double down. He doesn't push harder or go back to that argument; he knows Juno, too, and Juno didn't take the bait. Juno so thoroughly didn't take the bait that the entire strategy goes out the window.
Juno loves him, Juno knows him, Juno is not going to be swayed on that. Juno trusts him. He will not be talked out of it.

how do you think zuko would confess to katara?
Remember that headcanon? In the final episode of ATLA, Katara had a pink flower in her hair that was suspiciously similar to the flower in Zuko's tea tray (official art) The headcanon suggests that he put it in her hair.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think this was Zuko's quiet confession. He knew Katara loved Aang. He knew it was too late. Zuko, who is not good with words, wanted to communicate to Katara everything unspoken between them in his own language even if he was the only one who would understand. So he put the flower in her hair as a symbol of his love and affection; unrequited as it was.

This is by no means an original idea, but I keep thinking about how tragic a version of The Little Mermaid (2023), specifically, would be if it ended with Ariel unable to reunite as a human with Eric like in the original fairytale, along with some other aspects.
The live action nailed their relationship as two misunderstood people who find solace in each other's company: although their families finally comprehend that humans or mermaids aren't the enemy, I like to think for the first and only time, they'd found someone who truly understands them as individuals.
Of course, I wouldn't want Eric to not love Ariel at all like he does in the original fairytale. Instead, Ursula is defeated but the trident is somehow destroyed in the process, and Ariel is unable to become human again. They meet by the shore and remain in contact. They bring each other all sorts of trinkets. But while Ariel's lifespan remains 300 years, Eric ages more quickly than she does, and their hangouts become less frequent.
Eric eventually marries the princess from the neighboring kingdom for the sake of future prospects. However, on nights when the moon is full and the stars are out, he sits and stares at the ocean, waiting for her. When he's grown too old to see her without assistance, Ariel visits him one last time to say goodbye. Smiling, she takes his hand, and upon it, places "his little mermaid."
For years and years afterwards, people talk about the king with the faraway look in his eye, and they'll say he got it from her—the mermaid perched on the rock above the waves, gazing at the land where she'd sang to him, a century ago.

I’m in my feels about Charles’ having a Seb helmet and also in my Maxiel feels because of a conversation with a friend so here is a thing.
Maxiel: The Helmet
Most of Daniel’s friends aren’t here and that’s ok. There’s a party waiting for him in 6 different countries and he plans on hitting them all like some kind of fan service retirement thing so no one worries too much.
But he’s looking forward to Christmas - where he plans on turning off his phone and forgetting about everyone and everything.
He’s currently staring at the Lance DTS meme that another acquaintance has sent him because they think it’s funny. “You love the sport but it just don’t love ya back.” Sure, Danny had made that joke himself, but he was allowed to do that. It hurt coming from other people.
There was no F1 fanfare for him either - the sport he bled for, the one that kept him from his family for two years, the one he’s missed birthdays and funerals and weddings and time for.
Of course, Seb was getting a proper fucking send-off. Daniel was getting a reserve seat and he knew he’d never see the inside of a car at lights out again unless something bad happened, and no matter what, he couldn’t wish that on anyone - not any of these guys.
It’s Charles’ helmet that breaks him though. The helmet for Seb. You love the sport and sometimes it just don’t love ya back.
And the worst part is he had told them all not to do anything. He was a reserve driver. He’d still be around. Don’t worry about making a big deal about it, I’ll be back.
He didn’t expect anyone to actually take him seriously…he expected something.
Danny is tired now, counting the hours until he can bolt. Ready to drink a bottle of wine on a flight and not have Michael glare at him passive aggressively.
Danny’s helmet isn’t special - the same design he’s had all season - because he didn’t want to remember this. But maybe he did and maybe he’s bitter and maybe he doesn’t deserve a full time seat ever and -
He’s tugged sideways suddenly and he nearly loses his balance but then Max is righting him with that gentle smile on his face that he gets for people he actually considers friends. Danny hadn’t seen it this week after everything, but there it is.
“Hiya, Maxy. What’s up?”
Max beams and whispers, “come with me.” And then he’s waving at people in the RBR garage as they walk past them and towards Max’s driver room.
Daniel feels like he should leave. Even if he has a contract with these guys that technically starts in two days - he’s in McLaren Orange and he sticks out, but Max doesn’t let go and they keep walking.
“I, of course, did not change anything. It is still gold, and my lion is the same as always, but -“ Max pulls Daniel through the door of his driver’s room and slams it shut behind him. Daniel has flashbacks of - well, not the time for that.
“Max, what?” Daniel asks, confused and a little tired.
“I know it is not your last race ever, but it felt important to me,” Max is still rambling - quick and nervous like he does when he’s unsure if he did something wrong, and then he picks up his helmet, the gold one with two stars on the back. “You will have a seat in 24, but I wanted to -“
Max turns the helmet around and taps on the place underneath the two gold stars. The number 3.
Max put a - a 3 on his helmet for Daniel.
For Daniel’s last race.
“I know things have been hard for us, since-“ Max waves a hand between them, and it’s met to encompass everything between them. “But you are still one of my best friends and you helped make me the driver I am today and -“
He shrugs and Daniel pulls the helmet from his hands with shaky fingers, placing it back down on the table.
“Thank you,” Daniel says, before he hugs Max, winding his arms around his waist and squeezing him close. “Thank you.”
Max puts his chin directly on top of Daniel’s head somehow and says, “Yes, well you are important to me. And I am glad you are coming home.”
Daniel squeezes Max tighter. Maybe he was right. Maybe he was coming home in more than one way.

i think what really gets me the most about villain f/os is how i see so much of myself in them. in all their flaws and crimes and general lack of morality, i still see pieces of myself in them that are either latent, crushed under the weight of the former, or that no one thought to cultivate in them with love and patience. that i was the first one to really try, because i was able to look past their façade, their supposed lack of choice, or what they thought was their grander purpose. that i'm the one to show them that there is still good in this world worth preserving, even if they believe that i'm the only representative.
how appalled they are that someone like me, who they might see as better (if not naïve in some ways), could relate to them in such profound ways; i'm brave enough to admit it. after such a long time feeling alone and misunderstood, i'm now here telling them that they aren't alone, that our struggles are familiar, though we handled them differently (or even if we didn't). i can look them in the eyes and say "i understand how you feel," because i do. there is something that we share, dwelling in the deepest parts of our hearts. i was cognizant enough to see it, courageous enough to speak it, and compassionate enough to say "we don't have to face it alone." it's unbelievable.
the fact that i can love them despite everything gives me hope that i can be loved, too. that i deserve it too, because i believe it for them, and i strive to give them the love that they lack. because i love them! and maybe we can learn to love better together. we can forge a connection that neither of us believed that we could before. there's renewed hope in this world, in themselves, because of me

Matt loved Elektra- like he loved her. And she loved him. She said she’d trade it all in for him.
But she wanted to throw glasses and break into houses and commit murder. They couldn’t meet in the middle.
And even though he understood her and she understood him, I feel like she wasn’t necessarily accepting of love. Cause she didn’t think she deserved it. And I think his goodness scared her and made her feel like she was a monster.
It crushed him when she left. And it hurt her too.
But when she comes back, he says he’ll throw it all away for her. he was willing to throw away his practice with Foggy, his budding relationship with Karen, his love for Hell’s Kitchen- all for her. And she says she’ll stop killing. She promises she’ll meet him in the middle- and then she kills a child in front of him. And it crushes Matt because he’s now lost the life he wanted with her twice. She destroyed their future twice. She knew what they could’ve had, but she self-sabotaged.
But I don’t think she knew how to be anything other than what she was raised to be. I think she was scared of resisting. And when she realized she was the Black Sky- it just confirmed her fear.

31 + leivor for the sensory prompts 🥰🥰
as usual, i am incapable of brevity. so this one shot got away from me real fast. 🤡
31. The cold, sharp smell of the first frost.
For many weeks now, every sunrise has greeted Leofrith the same way.
Each night, long after the rest of the village has settled down to sleep, Eivor steals away into the little house of his that is tucked away in the northwest corner of the settlement. She rarely says a word as she strips herself of her outer layers, folding them haphazardly in a pile next to the hearth. She crawls under his furs and turns her back, hauling him closer by their entangled fingers until his arm lays over her waist, his palm resting over her heartbeat. She falls asleep almost the instant her head hits the pillow.
Sometimes he joins her. Sometimes he lays there, for moments or for hours with his nose nestled into her hair, and listens to her breath growing slow and deep.

Friendly reminder
Everyone talks about how after the Solstice Incident Nuala & Cerridwen tell Az how Elain is/what she has been up to.
But what about the other way around? They tell her in their very limited to way(since they are his spies).
Maybe Elain asks if he is okay and one of them smiles or does some sort of movement to where they aren’t telling her through words but subtle movements. And that gives Elain peace of mind; that although she may be (rightfully)angry at him it puts her mind at ease that he’s okay.
Even worse is that if Nuala & Cerridwen really know what happened that night but can’t tell and they have to see their friend go through so much pain and feeling like she made up their whole relationship. And they know telling her would help so much. But at least they are there and they are listening to her and comforting her.
But they know it isn’t enough. She needs to hear it from him but it’s not their place to impose.
Just imagine the turmoil Nuala & Cerridwen are going through. Their loyalty to their job and boss but also their love and loyalty to Elain. Their friend.

When Clark gets shot in Extinction and he hits the ground screaming bloody murder and starts crying for his dad and then Jonathan tells him he has to hold still while he digs the bullet out of him right there on the kitchen floor and Martha is sobbing “hold on baby hold on your dad’s gonna get it out”
And you get absolutely punched in the throat as you remember Clark is only 16

I don’t go here, but WHAT?! Am I getting this right?!
HIS PARENTS HAD HIM FOR PARTS?!
SO HE THINKS HE’S EXPENDABLE?
AND GOT STRUCK BY LIGHTNING?
But he lived right? SO HE COULD MARRY THE OTHER FIREMAN WITH THE LITTLE BOY? RIGHT???
Yes. Buck was a “savior baby” that was conceived to cure his older brother's leukemia. It didn't work out, sadly, and he never knew anything about this until way later (in his late 20s. It a spoiler for the show. Sorry?)
He's extremely reckless (before he meets second blorbo Eddie) and it's partly caused by his parents only giving child!buck any attention while he was injured. Many characters who like him think he sees himself as indestructible but only Eddie explicitly saw through that one. (and maybe bucks big sister Maddie)
That lighting actively killed him. For some long agonizing minutes. ...Eddie restarted his heart tho :D
IN MY ULTIMATE WEEWOO VERSION OF EVENTS HE WILL MARRY HIS FIREMAN HUSBAND AND FINALLY REALIZE HOW DADSHAPED HE ALREADY IS. Chris IS IS SON DAMMIT! HAS BEEN FOR A LONG TIME ALREADY
