i have an unhealthy adoration for the idea of shepard being the first to go head over heels in mshenko. and that's not to say kaidan doesn't develop feelings before me3, i just think he's the kind to fall in love slowly.

it's especially funny because (without mods) shepard can only romance women in the first two games, and i headcanon shepard as gay. so there's this extremely idolized and well-known military commander who could pull pretty much anybody he wants. absolutely BITCHLESS for the first few years because he's so horrendously down bad.

liara? ashley? miranda? jack? kelly? diana? nope. n o p e. he only wants kaidan, regulations be damned. it's one of the things that makes the very AGONIZING canonical slow burn very, very worth it.

like if you're playing the way i do, with a shepard that hasn't gotten with anyone at all in the trilogy, it makes the mars scene so much more impactful. and the way he doesn't want to leave kaidan's side—he's only just gotten him back. it makes the initial silence as liara tells him kaidan needs medical attention that much more intense. it makes his "where are you taking him?" on the citadel that much more emotional.

My fatal flaw is that, despite the tiktokification of analogue and digital indie horror, and the fact that everyone treats media as something to mindlessly consume, I genuinely enjoy stuff like Lacey's Games, Chezzkids Archive, FNaF VHS, WTD, TWOMP, and The Walten Files.

I can tell a lot of time went into making them, and the creators are very proud of all the effort that went into producing something they thought was spooky and fun, even if a bunch of ipad kids and hobbyless trolls spam every comment section as tiktok slowly consumes any of the series' remaining dignity.

I like this stuff, though. They remind me of being 11 years old, crouched over the family computer, with the screen slightly tilted so my parents can't see I'm reading Creepypastas, wholeheartedly believing in stuff like The Backrooms and Jeff the Killer and the Russian Sleep experiment.

Spooky internet stuff is escapism for me, so I don't care if it's not "dignified horror" because dignified horror isn't even a thing. You just make whatever you think is scary and you show it to people.

I don't think analogue/digital stuff made by, like, a team of 3 people needs to be super sophisticated and the pinnacle of all art, I just like the nostalgia of finding something made by some dude on the internet and watching it till midnight. I think we should be allowed to enjoy stuff that makes us happy, even if it's cringe or weird or has bad sound mixing and plot holes and stuff.

People have been making goofy, creepy stuff since the dawn of the internet, and it doesn't have to mean anything. And if it means something to someone? Respect that.

I hate all the stuff big companies are pumping out mindlessly, so I may as well enjoy something that doesn't make sense until you've seen six hours or weird blurry lore videos.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

i love when words fit right. seize was always supposed to be that word, and so was jester. tuesday isn't quite right but thursday should be thursday, that's a good word for it. daisy has the perfect shape to it, almost like you're laughing when you say it; and tulip is correct most of the time. while keynote is fun to say, it's super wrong - i think they have to change the label for that one. but fox is spot-on.

most words are just, like, good enough, even if what they are describing is lovely. the night sky is a fine term for it but it isn't perfect the way november is the correct term for that month.

it's not just in english because in spanish the phrase eso si que es is correct, it should be that. sometimes other languages are also better than the english words, like how blue is sloped too far downwards but azul is perfect and hangs in the air like glitter. while butterfly is sweet, i think probably papillion is more correct, although for some butterflies féileacán is much better. year is fine but bliain is better. sometimes multiple languages got it right though, like how jueves and Πέμπτη are also the right names for thursday. maybe we as a species are just really good at naming thursdays.

and if we were really bored and had a moment and a picnic to split we could all sit down for a moment and sort out all the words that exist and find all the perfect words in every language. i would show you that while i like the word tree (it makes you smile to say it), i think arbor is correct. you could teach me from your language what words fit the right way, and that would be very exciting (exciting is not correct, it's just fine).

i think probably this is what was happening at the tower of babel, before the languages all got shifted across the world and smudged by the hand of god. by the way, hand isn't quite right, but i do like that the word god is only 3 letters, and that it is shaped like it is reflecting into itself, and that it kind of makes your mouth move into an echoing chapel when you cluck it. but the word god could also fit really well with a coathanger, and i can't explain that. i think donut has (weirdly) the same shape as a toothbrush, but we really got bagel right and i am really grateful for that.

grateful is close, but not like thunder. hopefully one day i am going to figure out how to shape the way i love my friends into a little ceramic (ceramic is very good, almost perfect) pot and when they hold it they can feel the weight of my care for them. they can put a plant in there. maybe a daisy.

Okay so, I made a mistake in not elaborating the meaning of the options. You do not have to be good or know what you are doing in the slightest to pick that you have played before. There are two types of mother. One will become distraught at the prospect that you will exceed her, while the other will react similarly to idea that you won’t. To the former, she looks at you and sees herself. This is unforgivable. To the latter, you are an merely a representation of her potential. This is not so bad.

I would just like to say how hard it hits me in the chest to see Charlie masking every time she's onscreen the day before the fight (including what we see on Vox's spy screens of course), except when no one is with her but Vaggie. Even during her emotional speech she tries so damn hard to keep that confidence up and smile on. But we do see her stop masking twice, when the only person watching her is Vaggie.

First:

No one's really paying attention to her, and she's not smiling; she's worried. When Vaggie approaches her, she doesn't put on a happy face. She talks about her mom with the same smile as in the first episode (during a very emotionally vulnerable moment with Vaggie, might I add). It's not happy or confident. It's nostalgic, wistful, and sad, because her mom's absence is something very personal and painful for her. When Vaggie asks if they're ready, Charlie doesn't instantly start to smile or answer with confidence even though she usually would (even within that short beat of time), because her mask is off. She's not confident or optimistic. She's scared. She's not ready.

Then Pentious comes out and she's all smiles again! The mask comes back on when someone other than Vaggie is there.

Second:

Of course, one of our favorite scenes. Charlie's alone when she breaks down, but when Vaggie shows up, she keeps the mask off. She admits how scared she is. When she does smile, it's not the big smile she's been throwing on throughout the day, and it's not strained either. It's soft, gentle, and real. She's not masking. Vaggie is genuinely making her feel better when she's finally letting herself fall apart, just by being there and reminding her that no matter what happens, she's already accomplished so much, and she's so loved.

Charlie is under a lot of stress and pressure. She's scared. She's not as optimistic as she's making herself out to be. She's giving everything she's got out there being a strong, confident, inspirational leader and friend in front of everyone, and it's only with Vaggie that she lets it go. She doesn't have to try to be strong. She doesn't pretend. She lets down her guard, because for her, Vaggie is that one infinitely special person who gets to see every part of her; the one person she can always be her honest self with.

There were plenty of times in other episodes when Charlie didn't mask her negative emotions around people, but that was when she didn't have anyone looking to her as a leader. She's running on adrenaline and the weight of people's expectations as Extermination Day gets closer, and she can't let the mask she's put on slip in public. She has to seem like she's totally ready for what's coming. But Vaggie is different.

The amount of trust and love Charlie has for her is staggering. She's under an insane amount of stress and pressure, and having Vaggie by her side is probably the only thing keeping her from completely falling to pieces. Seeing a relationship so full of deep trust and love is absolutely beautiful. <3
