Rhysand really thinks his trauma trumps everyone elses trauma

Ofc i feel bad cause rhysand was obviously abused UtM but that doesn’t excuse the fact he 1- does shit things to other people 2- can act like since he was traumatized he is morally superior.

and i know the rhysand-ites will yap about how “he knows hes not good” or “he doesnt think that at all!” but the narrative certainly thinks so. sjm jumps through HOOPS to convince you rhysand is a great and amazing person no matter what and good god it’s annoying

not gonna lie homos and homies, there's something incredibly, incredibly depressing about Batmanverse and the concept of Batjokes in particular, and it's not the murder murder stab stab death plots.

It's the collective unmentioned canon agreement around these characters never being able to escape the confinements of their narrative.

they get pushed to the very edges of their predefined thresholds, they toe the lines of their stories, they poke it and probe it and sometimes even flirt with the possibility of crossing the bounds of their narratives, but they never break throught the structure. they never go over the line, always sorta of wiggling in place; batjokes in particular is the most enticing and intriguing stagnant 85+ years story i have ever seen.

There are unspoken rules around who Batman is, what he will and will not do, and those rules are rarely questioned, if ever. No matter what he does, he cannot be in love with a man, and he cannot ever love Joker in particular. He cannot experience mental and emotional peace. he cannot kill and he cannot show sincere emotional vulnurability, he cannot experience his love in an open and unashamed way. His narrative thresholds confine him to a socially sanctioned image that is meant to be familiar and tangible to the average straight dude, and it's quite frankly exhausting to witness. Whatever happens to Batman's story, he never arrives at physical emotional or mental peace and on a foundational level his tale never changes, not really. You can almost feel it when he constantly bumps into this unspoken narrative rules and stops in his tracks, each and every goddamn time, for 85+ years. It's like a keyed up nutcracker toy soldier bumping into a wall, stumble back two steps, bump into the walls, stumble back two steps, bumpt into the wall,

As someone who loves stories that love to question their own narrative points and break through them and do something different, staring at Batmanverse comics for too long at a time lowkey feels heartbreaking, nothing ever truly changes in this bitch.

Dude was on some serious shit. Man was definitely receiving the most violently random prophetic visions from god. Dude literally went, it came to me in a dream and built a weapon that’s literally still confounding people generations later and would function as a key to a fucking devils gate that would literally be the first step in so much shit going down in so little time generations later . Wouldn’t have even surprised me if they also said he was responsible for Ruby’s knife.

He also, most importantly, is from the wild wild fucking west!!! How cool would a show about that be? A fucking genius inventor hunts monsters in the Wild West while some being he knows nothing about but deeply suspects is giving him blueprints for big, wild things and weapons for how to stop them, or at least slow them down.

It's because with the addition of Micah-10, we've finally reached a critical mass of women with drop dead gorgeous voices, and the game simply can't handle it anymore. It's like Telesto. You are totally welcome to consume content in your own space in whatever way you see fit. It is disrespectful of the fandom space to try to drag other people into your space and interact with you if they don't want to. And dunking on a character in writings or art of them is fucking rude as hell to the person who put work into into the creation they made out of some feelings they were having.

Also. side note, it is possible to enjoy a character who is Wrong About Some Things or Isn't Doing The Right Stuff In The Right Situation. Sometimes it's possible to like a character and disagree with them, and shitting on people b/c you can't see what they see in a character is pretty trash garbage and is 90% of why I just make silly little art for me and my own silly feels and hope folks get a chuckle or some enjoyment out of it too.

just gonna say that Colin's exclusion from all things release date announcement (and the lack of pushback about it) is just another instance in a long line of actions that demonstrate that no one gives a fuck about his character. he is constantly sidelined, constantly denied scenes, constantly denied perspective, talked down on, denied characterization and complexity in writing, basically only ever existing as Penelope's prize. The show began this trend, foisted it to the fandom, but the fandom has exacerbated Colin's mistreatment as a character beyond even the show's lack of care toward him

EVERYONE has just. . idk, decided it's better for Colin to exist as Penelope's HEA reward for her shitty family / being ignored or some shit when he's supposed to be HALF THE FUCKING PAIRING. Where is HIS depth? HIS motives? HIS struggles and celebrations? Where are all the meta analysis of his character? The character study stories that don't just make his entire existence Penelope? Where are the stories where his family defends him, where he can demonstrate and forge strong bonds with people who love him? Where are the explorations of his past and motives?

Nowhere.

This fandom has proven time and time again he's secondary to us. Colin isn't a character, Colin is a punching bag. Or a projection of the guy who rejected us. Or an empty minded sexy lamp. Or a flat cardboard cutout for people to dump whatever they want on him. BUT HE'S MEANT TO BE A CHARACTER. A character with desires and experiences and connections that deserve the fucking spotlight for ONCE

when is someone other than Luke Newton (and like 5 of my fellow Colin peeps) going to give Colin the credit he deserves? like who is in his corner? when is he finally going to get to be a character? when will he finally get explored? when will he get the time to shine? no one seems to think it needs a priority

not the showrunners, not Shonda (who once said she didn't even think he was 'clever enough' for Penelope, fuck you very much for that one), not the Bton fandom, certainly not Polin, not anyone

forget the two parter and the date release and the wait or whatever. my favorite fucking character is being sidelined in his own season and no one gives a damn
