Basic Instinct Chapter 19
A/N: Now we're going to focus some more on Reader-Chan's side of the story! Masterpost
You stared at the text on your phone, telling you to prepare for a short stay over at Akashi's grandmother. You didn't know what to think. Meeting his grandmother, let alone staying over at her place to wait until your mother had calmed down? You felt anxious. How should you act, what should you bring, you didn't wanted her to think lowly of you like Masaomi did. As you left the basement, you noticed your mom wasn't home. 'Oh right, mom was going to shop at the market today.' You felt guilty, for slipping away from home when she was gone. It felt cowardly, and you feared your mom was going to fall into a panic when she noticed you had disappeared. 'Or am I just hoping she would?' You didn't felt like you could say 'no' to Akashi either, not when they were already preparing for you. So you decided to write your mother a note.
Akashi's grandmother is concerned about me, Seijuro and what happened. She has sent for a servant to pick me up for a couple of days to sort it out. Please don't worry.
You felt a bit guilty for putting it on Akashi's grandmother, but she seemed like a better target for your mother's anger then you or Akashi. Let adults fight this out. You quickly picked your prettiest, expensive looking casual wear, to strike a good picture as you hurriedly changed into a nice blouse and high waist pants combination for a sophisticated look. You were desperate to have at least one of Akashi's relatives like you. Amongst the things you picked to go with you, you also obviously took your phone, toothbrush and decided to take your PSVITA, so you could game in bed during your stay. Gaming in bed to get more comfortable in a place was your routine whenever you slept over at a relative's place. You also picked a light book you loved reading so you didn't look uncultured. You were so consumned, you almost felt like you got a heartattack from the doorbell. "I assume you work for Seijuro's grandmother?" You asked, nervously. The man nodded kindly, "I have come to pick you up Miss l/n-san. Please follow me." And you did.
The drive was silent, but not awkward. At the backseat, there had been a carefully placed sack of freshly baked croissants. You ate during the drive, and the driver had put on the radio. The drive took longer then expected, and just when you had begun to almost fall asleep, the car approached a gate. As if a lightning bolt had sticken you, you sat upright immediately. A beautiful mansion and gorgeous, lush garden unfolded before you and you felt like you could faint. 'A girl like me really is out of place here…' Yet, Akashi was still standing outside near the mansion's entrance, clearly waiting for you. Your heart leaped, and the driver got out of the car. He went to open the car's door for you, and you tried your very best not to leap into Akashi's arms. Which you epically failed at. The moment your arms wrapped around him, you felt a fresh wave of tears rushing over your face. Akashi burried his face in your hair, exhaling your scent. "I am sorry for causing this situation." "Don't be! People shouldn't demonize us for being young and getting carried away. Everyone makes mistakes, and I bet all those adults have done similar shit when they were young." You said, passionately before freezing when you realized you had used the word 'shit' in this extremely posh enviroment. But Akashi chuckled and kissed your forehead, "Thank you for defending me even in this moment. I really am lucky I have such an amazing girlfriend." He breathed, as he hugged you tightly. You blushed, and hid your face in his shirt.
Rima watched on from the window of the drawing room, smiling as she saw the young lovers. "They do look adorable together."

eight months in somebody actually asked me abt visualive instead of me immediately annoying ppl about it without former notice. I might actually write properly for once 😳😳😳
OK OK!!!!! In this essay I will.... I will.... Visualive Adachi.... Visu/BURSTS INTO TEARS/
OKAY OKAY for real I just care Visualive so much (as someone who can’t fully understand Japanese AHAHA)
First I’ll add some foundation about what Visualive really is, then I talk abt Adachi in the latter parts of it because this is technically the first time I’m properly talking about this hehe 🐿
T....table of contents???
Visualive
Visualive the Evolution
Masami Itou
Visualive Adachi
Visualive the Evolution Adachi
Terms and Legend
VL - Visualive
VLE - Visualive the Evolution
stage - shortened for “stageplay”
面白い - omoshiroi (it’s just that specific)
Yuuya - VL Hero name
Hayato - VLE Hero name
Baba - Hero
Masami - Adachi
Taniguchi - Dojima
Saotome - Daisuke
Mamiya - Izanami
I add honorifics but sometimes I forget the hyphen intentionally or unintentionally I’m sorry if it makes it hard to read lol
all links have automatic timestamps for easy viewing. i mean. i hope the timestamps work
VISUALIVE “Persona 4.” A stage adaptation of SMT: Persona 4 by Atlus. It adapts the first part of the story, from the hero’s arrival to after recovering Mitsuo Kubo from the TV world. It also ends on a cliff hanger, showing a teaser of Shadow Naoto being projected on the screen.
It takes up a speedy recapitulation of the hero’s spring life, before slowing down and showing in depth his school life in summer. A day before Morooka-sensei’s death, there is a little skit with Kou, Daisuke and Adachi. The hero walks into the conversation before the two other boys leaving, and Morooka-sensei walking in on the student and detective. The next day follow’s the teacher’s death and the Investigation Team (IT) begin investigating their new lead.
From the words “visual” and “alive,” the niche of this stage was meant to be the fusion of live acting and visual digital projections. All seen from the stageplay with the colorful cast of actors and CG animations being projected on the screen. This offers an opportunity for characters to summon their personas, perform cool visual effects, change the backdrop, or even confront their own Shadows.
Performed in Sunshine Theater from the 15th to the 20th of March 2012. The screenplay was written and directed by Shintaro Asanuma from the theatrical group “bpm.” The video production produced by Shutaro Oku, a film director and visual planner. He later takes over as director for VISUALIVE THE EVOLUTION, the sequel stage. The stage music was produced by Shunsuke Wada, with a special show exclusive vocal track sung by Shihoko Hirata.
On this note, I haven’t seen any sort of original soundtrack released for any of the stages and I’m SO SAD. The last song in Mitsuo’s boss fight was such a BANGER and literally EVERYTHING ELSE Marvelous, Wadasan please take my MONEY
Regarding the cast, there were some special accommodations for Teddie, Rise, and Nanako, all of which did not have live actors at the time. During the casting, actors for the three characters could not be found or simply left the directors unsatisfied they couldn’t cast anybody. An exception for Rise, who was able to have a live actor in the sequel stage. It has been stated that there weren’t any “pretty boy” actors that fit the “Teddie Criteria.” While there weren’t any child actors that were believed to portray Nanako well.
Teddie was only ever seen in his bear costume while Rise was busy talking through a call, all voiced by their video game cast. Nanako has never appeared on stage, only being scarcely mentioned in the script. Again, this is different in the sequel stage where her role was extremely important and was shown as a screen projection.
VISUALIVE “Persona 4” THE EVOLUTION. A sequel stage. Beginning abruptly in the middle of Shadow Naoto’s boss fight, the story continues from there until the “true end” of the game’s original story. *Certain characters are introduced while others have been reintroduced. And on a personal note, when it’s all comedic in the beginning, it’s all for what’s coming right after.
I don’t know if I’m salty or just find it really funny AHAHA I might go talk abt it some other day with more context ehehe
Performed in The Galaxy Theater from the 3rd to the 9th of October 2012, only a few months after the PSVITA Persona 4 Golden release, which is July 2012. The screenplay was now written by Jun Kumagi while directed by Shutaro Oku. And music production finally taken over by Shoji Meguro himself.
---
HAHAHA this is starting to look like a wiki page. moving on. I might start rambling rn
(warning LONG !!!! aaa,,)
My thoughts on the stage adaptations. For the first Visualive (VL) I believe it’s pretty close to canon! I enjoy the characterization and how much love and care was present when handling the entire production.
Actors were busy playing the game itself, wherein a PS2 was present in the practice room. Along with magazines and game guides explaining the game’s story and the characters itself. Actors performing together and even improv acting together to get a grasp of their characters. All of them knowing well of Persona 4 as a well loved game, delicately handling their characters and hopefully performing them right while making the audience happy.
The staff taking care of each other while the director and video producer, Asanuma-san and Oku-san, working together well to make their vision into a reality.
The same thing happened with VL the Evolution (VLE) and literally every other good stage. Except... I feel the script kinda got out of hand with too much liberty where it feels a bit more disconnected from canon. But! It makes up for it in its content, whether comedic or (INCREDIBLY) dramatic! It’s great as its own story at that point. So in this case, I like to take the first VL and get to connect it canon, while I don’t know what the hell happened in VLE to the point I’ll just enjoy it as its own content.
These opinions deserve its own essay, post whatever bc I have SO much to say abt this. ANYWAY. VL ADACHI
---
Tohru Adachi is portrayed by Masami Itou (伊藤マサミ), a screenplay writer, director and an stage actor himself. He does have a single character voice role along with a fellow troupe member in the same franchise, but mostly works as the former three. He is part of Asanuma-san’s entertainment group “bpm.” On a similar note, Masashi Taniguchi, Dojima’s actor, was also part of their group from 2011 to 2016, which may explain their good synergy as the boss and the bumbling fool dynamic. I mean, somebody’s gotta get hit in the head every few skits.
With Masami-san being an important part of the cast, he doesn’t appear as often as Taniguchi-san in backstage content like the VL bonus disk or the official blog. Mentioned in his own personal blog, he had been busy with his roles as assistant director (I am assuming also for VL).
Also fun to note, because his role is mainly comic relief, he has been using his liberty to change up the material almost everyday making each performance exciting. This also leaves some other actors jealous of his freedom in his role, such as Saotome-san, Daisuke’s actor.
---
VL Adachi really has a... how do I say this? an adorable speech pattern (THE SAME SPEECH PATTERN THAT DROVE ME MAD TRYING TO DECIPHER I THOUGHT YOU WERE A CITY BOY OSSU OSSU MY ASS /shakes you violently/). Overall, he really fits the loose lipped bumbling fool, and his accent really makes him seem more casual and invested. What I’m saying is... VL Adachi either actually has genuine empathy or he actually has more energy to fake it (compared to some other edgelord. i mean you saw my p4ga analysis. I’m sick of him lol ahaha).
One of my favorite ways to explain this (OTHER THAN CHAIR CAR ADVENTURE MY BELOVED WE’LL GET TO THAT LATER) is the rice field scene with him and Dojima. It’s overanalyzation time 🎉
youtube
(43:04)
While investigating, Adachi whines about being tired while Dojima smacks him in the head. In this case, it’s established that Adachi doesn’t want to be there, yes? It’s the country, it’s hot and it smells like green.
"Ah... Dojima-san..! Why don't we take a break? (...) There really is nothing out here... Is the criminal still even here at all? (...) I wonder if I've passed being a rookie yet. Haha, but this city doesn't even have convenient transportation. I can't go to leisure lands (recreation, amusement parks, arcades, ect.) and head home at all."
Adachi then tries to tell Dojima a story. “when I got to this city after being newly assigned, I met an interesting guy (...) Yeah, I remember that the cherry blossoms haven't bloomed yet. So, I was driving my car and got near the station and--” Dojima gets a phone call.
Adachi politely puts his hands down waiting for his boss to finish so he can finish the story. Again and again, Adachi attempts to talk to Dojima about a story he’s so persistent trying to tell someone about. It was so 面白い that he would find someone to talk to about it. Even being polite and patient enough to wait for a chance to speak. He even gets fed up with it and blows up in front of his boss, clearly irritated he’s not given a chance to talk.
Sure, it could be Adachi feeling fed up like a normal person where someone agreed he to listen to him, before being constantly ignored. Or Adachi trying to be a more annoying whiny brat, depending on where you look at it.
If the story wasn’t too “interesting” to Adachi, he would’ve just brushed it off and stopped talking to Dojima entirely, or start up new small talk, or even complain some more. But no, he had a story he wanted to voice out so bad that he got irritated that the one person in the vicinity couldn’t listen to him.
Only after Dojima told him to continue their investigation elsewhere did Adachi finally stop and focus on something else. Maybe that story was for another day, or maybe it was never meant to be told.
What if it was just original (game) Adachi? He’d find a way to squirrel out of the investigation as usual, or push Dojima to “investigate” elsewhere. “Hey boss, don’t you think it’s hot? Why don’t we go elsewhere? We’ve seen this place too many times to count and I doubt anything new’ll turn up. How about we take a break at Junes, y’know? Where it’s cool? C’mon boss,” something like that.
og Adachi is just really annoying and silly to me. Some grown man thinking he can freeload because he never gets anything out of putting in more energy and effort? I don’t care how tall he is, I will smack him in the head.
Yeah VL Adachi whines, too, but at least it doesn’t look like he’s going to escape and waste his time somewhere else. He just sucks it up stops trying to leave the situation.
Or maybe I’m getting this all wrong and VL is exactly the same and my rage just gets dampened because of Masamisan’s execution of character hmm...
SO. What was his story about anyway? The one he really wanted to share to Dojima?
I mean... it’s obvious enough
youtube
First day in town? Spring? Actually mentioned driving a car when literally out of every single persona 4 media at the time was there not a SINGLE mention of Adachi having a car OTHER THAN the same stageplay it’s being mentioned in?
A story, from somewhere around uhh four? five months ago? was something that he remembered so dearly and was willing to share despite it obviously embarrassing him even if he puts the blame on a certain somebody in the same story?
Or maybe it’s because he really had nothing to talk about ever since he realized all his stories from the city weren’t actually that funny or interesting in the first place.
BUT then that would mean out of all the things he could talk about—more whining, complaining, complimenting, small talk—he insisted about talking about this story in particular.
Okay, look. I’m just. Just. As someone who talks too much, of course I have things I actually want people to hear out of all the bullshit that comes out of my mouth. And if the thing I actually want people to listen to doesn’t even get heard, I’d go mad.
Sure, Adachi’d be fine when his complaints or intentionally unfunny jokes get brushed off. But a story of a guy that he thought was so funny, interesting, 面白い gets ignored, he really blew up, even just for a split second, maybe.
And ALL the things that happened in that story—on his first day in Inaba! His car got dented, he had to deal with a weirdo dumbass employee that knew zero personal space, yelled in his ear, who didn’t know how to do their job, got his station reputation messed up on the first day, got his ass grabbed, got (unintentionally?) mocked for his lame stories, and got his car dented for the SECOND time. Probably MORE
And he STILL wanted to talk about it /punches through concrete wall/
yes I’m overthinking about this of course i am
This little tidbit of VL Adachi kinda makes me go insane sometimes—his entire characterization in VL in particular. It was really refreshing to see and how they included both of his characters in it, his facade and how irritated he is of a lot of things underneath. And how flexible his character is immediately working with other characters when there’s sudden improv to balance the situation. Like him and Dojima, Morooka, the attendant, or even Yuuya (hero) himself.
I’ll take Taniguchi-san’s messing around in the VL bonus backstage disc in place of Masami-san being so busy he couldn’t appear in it as often as other characters.
For stagetime that lasted for fifteen minutes or less, my appreciation for VL Adachi, even if he was just comic relief, really rocketed. I say VL, bc Adachi the edgelord he’s supposed to be in literally every other media is something I analyze separately.
I haven’t even gotten to VLE oh my GODDDDD
Like I said, I don’t really regard VLE close to canon but as something to be appreciated for what it is by itself. But the way Adachi was characterized there, in or out of character, still struck me.
---
Yes, there was his strange fan-agreed-canon which is,,, now canon obsession with cabbages (not that that’s a bad thing lmao). There was also him being a lot more jumpy and intimate in a clowny way, patting people on the shoulder or even downright hugging them just to mess around. Even FORGETTING who the same goddam loser who grabbed his ass almost a year ago is. But like, can’t blame him they literally changed their actor (and screenplay writer) AHAHAHA
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ha... no more comedy, only dorky sword fights now
(speaking of sword fights I think it’s a fun thought how Mamiya-san [Izanami, also one of the youngest in the cast] admitted it was his first time doing sword fight choreography and even thanked Masami-san and other staff members for guiding him)
One thing unintentionally in character was Adachi accidentally nabbing the sushi overdosed in wasabi. Masami-san didn’t actually account for a joke sushi and didn’t immediately eat it—until Taniguchi-san (who also made Dojima go off his shits compared to VL) jokingly yelled at him and even riled up the audience for him to eat it. He even went off stage to get water just for him to eat the goddam sushi.
And Masami-san did! (kinda choked, but he’s fine).
Continuing from the same scene, while being overly giddy about sushi dinner (and I mean overly--he was singing about it while hopping to the Dojima residence), he tried to remind the two, Dojima and Hayato (hero), that Nanako was sleeping. Probably where she was sick if the scene was translated from the game.
youtube
(30:07)
And... the dramatic parts of VLE
Adachi was the one who reported to the IT that Dojima was chasing Namatame in the rain. While Naoto was discussing Namatame’s journal entries, Adachi, as giddy as he is, took it from Naoto’s hands and reveled in the discovery of evidence so childishly(?). He even ran to Dojima when he began regaining consciousness and immediately called the nurses to help him wheel Dojima to the ER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, The Hospital Scene™️, right after Nanako flatlines.
youtube
(1:02:02)
Adachi, who recently walked into the scene, immediately worries about Dojima and IT who were ALL crying. He looks down, devastated—before yelling how Dojima’s heading to Namatame’s room.
He yells in terror and the same grief at his injured boss, all while running past and even jumping over children, who fell to the ground sobbing, to get to him. He continues yelling in a pained fashion while immediately reprimanding Dojima to stop. He gets carried by the collar before being tossed to the ground at Hayato’s feet, all while being pat by the same boy.
Dojima makes his speech about how unfair it is for the ‘killer’ to be alive when his daughter isn’t. When he finally falls to his knees, Adachi rises from the ground, humbly saying he’ll do his best to take care of Dojima (or something like that I’m in tears I literally can’t do VLE’s hospital scene i h8 this). He finally starts crying along with everyone else, being pushed away again but still tries again, trying to usher his boss away from the door.
With the help of the guard in front of the door, they all disappear off stage
please... I know this scene doesn’t need that much translation because of how important this scene is in the entire story. and I know my narratives aren’t enough so just,,,, just watch it please it’s so much more than this. everyone’s acting was just spectacular
youtube
(1:08:47)
So, after the IT (YOSUKE. JUST YOSUKE. good job Mae-chan) stop themselves from k wording Namatame, it was ADACHI who reported Nanako’s miracle recovery. He ran to the same corridor where they all cried in, even panting and falling to the ground in relief trying to report the good news. Then he pats Hayato on the shoulder and says he’s going to Dojima.
With this... /slaps roof of half of VLE/ ALL of this....adachi.... adachisan.... he Cares™️..... holy shit.....
now. comparing to the game. do you even remember what og Adachi did? did he.. even do anything?????
youtube
(56:39)
NO!!! he just stood there!!!! being a bumbling fool but.... inappropriately!!! man. he didn’t act concerned enough.
adachi: /walks into a bunch of kids crying outside a hospital room/ “lmao why tf are y’all crying? did uhhh what’s her face uhhh nanako. did she d word or something? rip, I guess lol” LIKE????? CAN YOU IMPLY FASTER
and then he’s like “wgat hmm Where’s Dojima-san Heading Because That’s Not The Way To His Room 🤔” and only when he’s asked he actually mentions he’s heading to Namatame’s room and still needs to get choked by a first year for the room number like..... zero consideration
and his boss??? where his daughter he loves so much just??? di*s???? and he’s so devastated he’s doing what he can that very moment while he’s so numbed of thinking of the consequences???? And adachi goes “uhh boss that’s illegal” LIKE. BITCH. /punches through a concrete wall but harder/
---
And??? His confrontation scene??? Like, I know they mashed it up w his tv confession scene to save stagetime for other scenes BUT IT WAS SO MMBMBMBMMGN /gestures in a good way/
youtube
(1:15:56)
UM?? guy behind everything??? in a vulnerable area where he could easily get physically assaulted bc hes not in the tv world w his persona?? Trash talks women like he absolute misogynist he is??? getting yelled at by a bunch of kids and YELLING BACK IN THE SAME AGITATED MANNER even TAUNTING THEM then and there to GET HIS ASS?????
og Adachi was such a pussy he got caught and just scurried off into the TV world where he ended up having powers like...ok....scared of getting beat down by a bunch of highschoolers unless you have powers...ok....
he only taunted them to get him when he was in the tv world too.....he rlly couldn’t say shit in the real world huh... lol
(yeah yeah this shows how VLE Adachi knew abt his TV world powers which would make you think if he ever went into the tv world and came back out alive. Or he’s really just a badass who doesnt give a shit abt anyone’s opinions and CAN beat anyone’s ass. i have a separate thing abt this but bc i like to laught at vle rather than overthink its own lore i might. not. idk lol)
and ??? VLE Adachi can??? He can swordfight??? he doesn’t even NEED a gun—he even reflects bullets w his blade (but apparently he can still get slapped by a flying fan more often than any other attack). His fight choreo was just...so poggers. He’s like short villains done good—like??? he’s short compared to everyone else!!! but he makes up for it for stuffing all the energy inside him while is bursts out making him him the over energetic gremlin he is!!! go VL adachi!!!!
(am I low key making fun of Madono-san in the TUUSH stageplay I’ve seen four minutes of? maybe)
OK!!! Yes I was gushing abt Masami-san again back to Adachi.
It’s portrayed that while not being afraid to admit his crimes, he also goes out of his way to be a bastard and have the gall to get a bunch of kids to fight him, one on eight. He can use a katana, probably a narrative dark reflection of the hero, Hayato which I thought was nice—and he can fight!!! It also shows his persona, yes, but...it doesn’t make it clear if he’s overwhelmed by his Shadow like in the game, where his eyes were yellow and he was emitting a dark aura.
But it gets interesting how he sees he’s getting overwhelmed and starting to lose his edge towards a bunch of kids. He falls to the ground even banging the floor like a whiny brat while literally the IT tries to tell him to turn himself in. Again, like a brat he tells everyone to shut up—before getting incapacitated. While some of the IT rejoice, he bolts up unaccepting of his defeat—before getting hit in the stomach.
youtube
(1:23:54)
And his words from when he drops his katana, “Why..?” He grabs the foldable chair against his stomach, and with a remorseful look in his eyes, he says “I’m sorry..!”
THEN HE BACKFLIPS—then Hayato slashes him.
In a tone of disbelief, he goes “no way...” and collapses to the ground, being possessed by Ame-no-Sagiri.
Blah blah blah then Teddie rockets himself into the eyeball spy cam and then they both explode aaaaa
Teddie survives but I really don’t know where Adachi went. Not even a mention by Dojima if he turned himself in or was ever found—or I need to review VLE for the 48274827482nd time hehe
WHOO then the whole cast appears for the dance number at the end of show YAHOO

What is the best platform for otome games?
If you’re lucky enough to know how to read Japanese, then the PSVita is hands down the best option at current, ALTHOUGH I’LL ASSUME THIS ISN’T THE CASE SINCE PPL PROB WOULD ALREADY KNOW THAT IF THEY CAN READ IT I’M CRYING.
Currently mobile (both apple & android) and steam / pc are the best otome sources, but the switch is probably going to catch up eventually because otome companies are starting to port their games over both in japan & in the west as the vita’s life cycle may be ?? starting to wind down ?? i haven’t looked into it recently but.
mobile is good for a lot of free / wait-to-play games (ones you can play a little at a time with like … respawning timers that lets u read a chapter every few hours or w/e.) there are a couple you can buy routes for too (on the voltage 365 app thing mostly) but it’s mostly a good resource for free stuff. highly suggest looking into ntt / shall we date’s & voltage’s stuff, since you can play them as you play other / longer otome.
steam is the best right now over switch because it’s library is more established at current. it has more to choose from, as well as some indie otome devs with some pretty good work as well. has a sizable amount of commercial / big name otome games already on there and more coming.
switch might overtake it later with the long list of games starting to get ported to it if a lot of them end up getting translated (which more & more are starting to get translated as the genre gains popularity so !! hopeful !!) but right now steam’s library is still better. that being said if an otome is on both platforms, i usually choose switch over steam. a couple voltage games are also released on the switch with ALL the content so you don’t have to buy it story-by-story like on mobile lmfao.
tldr; steam for commercial otome, mobile for free / buy-things-to-speed-up-reading-if-you-want-to and/or gacha-esque games, and then switch as the newbie console breaking into the space. if you HAVE a vita tho, there’s still some good games on there that were translated worth looking into. any1 who can read japanese already knows vita is the otome haven until switch’s library catches up.
pistol fingers !!

Persona Fandom Problems: “Guide to legally buying Persona games so Atlus can see the money” solution 2
So I guess some people didn’t see my first solution guide before, which broke down the rough cost of consoles (except PS4) and the games (which included the cheapest they’ve been at online and the base price available online). Tldr; going a few routes show it’s pretty cheap, esp if you can find the console cheap (the games however you either have to wait for to go down in price, otherwise they can get pricey, personally I expect them to go down again when P5R JPN/Outside JPN releases or maybe even doing it for Halloween/American Thanksgiving/Christmas included in a special it’s just a feeling but since it’s a new Persona game, they usually dock prices when a new Persona game comes out....at least in Japan, in the USA they will dock prices around our big holidays so keep it in mind.). The key is that you kinda have to buy the games digitally now, buy used and Atlus don’t see the money and at that point you could’ve just emulated or watched a let’s play/youtube “movie”.
That being said, it’s not to shame people who emulated (esp the older games), but if you had the money (or even had the console but not the games) it was a good guide to help people get into the game but also in a way that Atlus themselves see it so that it actually helps support the game.....But I’ve seen people getting pissy about this again, first they get mad people aren’t playing the games because it costs money, if you mention emulation, then they get pissy cause now it’s free and Atlus don’t see the money, and now it’s a cycle where you don’t win and are shamed or rushed into losing money.
BUT FEAR NOT! Here I have a new solution! :D One that combines emulation and buying (gasp I know). It’s a lot cheaper (esp if you wait for the digital prices to go down), and/because you don’t even need to buy a console.
And the answer is........Emulate, but buy the game digitally from your PC/Computer to show your support that way. Simple! Alternatively, if you didn’t emulate it but watched a playthrough/walthrough or the anime series (probably illegally but hey anime isn’t cheap, and the games kinda are in comparison), you can still count. (basically, if you watched or played an emulated version of a Persona game or watched an adaptation, and you liked it, then buy it digitally to show support, you don’t need a system to buy it, but consider it payment for the experience). If you didn’t like a certain Persona game after trying it, then I guess you...props shouldn’t pay......which means I guess this post isn’t for you? 8U
Wait wait, I know you have questions: “How much money would the games cost,” “How do I set up an account,” “I’m not from the USA nor Japan for these specials,” That’s ok, under the cut I’ll explain all that stuff for you (if you know what to do from here, then you don’t need to go under the cut 8U)!
First the price of games. The first part listed in bold is what’s the lowest it’s been listed on a sale day (from what I can find) the 2nd number is what it’s currently listed as now for the base price. Now for P3/4 it shouldn’t matter which version you pick, but if you pick P3P and you want to support the FeMC more then pick P3P (same goes for P4G/Arena/Ultimax/Adachi DLC if you want more Adachi). Same tbh same can go for certain DLC stuff too, want more Marie? Buy Marie DLC. Want more Miku in your dancing games? Buy Miku. Want Adachi/Sho? Buy their DLC too! Want more Margaret? Buy her DLC in Arena/Ultimax (iirc it’s one of those two if not both, it’s been a hot minute ok? ;w;). I won’t be listing DLC, they don’t usually go on sale iirc, but feel free to explore on the website. (but yeah bold is the lowest I’ve SEEN/could find evidence of it go down in price, if there isn’t a price before “/” it’s because I can’t remember what the sale price was like 3+ years ago and the internet doesn’t have the number available for that time, but there have been sales on ALL the games so far)
Games (all PS3/PSP/PSVita/PS4, in rough release order)
Persona 1 (PSP, $/19.99)
Persona 2: Innocent Sin (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1 classic, $3.99/9.99)
Persona 3 FES (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 3 Portable (PSP, $/19.99 )
Persona 4 (PS2 classic, $5.99/9.99)
Persona 4 Golden (Vita, $/19.99 )
Persona 4: Arena (PS3, $/14.99)
Persona 4: Ultimax (PS3, $/19.99, or if you have PS+ during the month it was free, then it is free for you and you save about $20).
Persona 4: Arena Story mode (Ultimax DLC, $9.99, aka you get the story of Arena and Ultimax for $29.98 instead of $34.98)
Persona 5 (PS3/PS4, $ 13.99/19.99) (ultimate edition, 50.99/84.99
Persona Dancing All star triple pack (only way to get PS4 ver of P4D btw): /$59.99
Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight (Vita or PS4, $/39.99 or 59.99)
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight (Vita or PS4, $/39.99 or 59.99)
Persona 4: Dancing All Night (Vita, $/24.99 )
P5R (PS4, $59.99, place holder)
Now onto the PSN account. If for some reason you don’t have a US/JPN account, and your country PSN doesn’t have any of these games then make a US/JPN one. US and JPN tend to have deals on these (not sure about other countries again).
For Sony you can easily make one at this website, (if you can’t access Persona games digitally from your country, check this post on how to make an account from another country, it also tells you where to go on purchasing foreign PSN Currency if the account isn’t where you are from). The website and doing it on the Playstation are roughly similar (the video is assuming you are doing it on the PSN), so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Now I know I didn’t list the PQ games....and that’s because.....I dunno if you can buy them digitally from the Eshop website. You can if you have a 3DS buuuuuuuut.....that’s....not going to help......if you don’t have a 3DS....and you had to emulate or watch it.....If there’s a way I can’t seem to find it so sorry ;w;
But yeah that’s basically it, if you are a fan of the game you like you should buy it. But you should buy it in a way that it actually means supporting it (aka not buying used). Give Atlus the numbers, and let your money do the talking. Lastly, I have a veeeeeery big feeling that these digital games will go on sale when P5R is released. If that does happen, I’ll make a separate post with links to the JPN pages.

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk (PSVita) Non-Spoiler Review
Hiya! Time to rate an otome game. I have played a couple otome games, but this will be my first review on one. Some of you might find this game familiar if you have played the first in the series: Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly. I played the first game last year, so it has been a couple months. You don’t need to play the first game to play this game, but there are some references to the first game. Players can always play Black Butterfly after Ashen Hawk.
For this review, there will be no spoilers. I will layout my thoughts on certain aspects of the game and will talk about the characters. In the character section, there will be brief descriptions to give players an idea of the characters personalities. If that’s something you want to experience for yourself, feel free to skip over that section.
Alright! Hope you guys enjoy the review!
Tumblr media
Description: (Quoting from the PlayStation Store)
Uncover the secret – Unite the clans
In a town ruled by opposing clans and overshadowed by superstition and legend, a child is born with the dreaded mark of a witch.
She conceals her identity until the theft of a mysterious relic brings to light a series of staggering revelations.
The mysteries she will uncover could restore order... or destroy everything that she knows...
The Psychedelica series is an otome game that focuses heavily on the plot/mystery aspects rather than the romance. The romance plays a secondary role, but there are still alternate endings for each character. If you have played the first Psychedelica game, then you will notice some bias for the poster boys. I felt that it was more subtle for Black Butterfly, but I would say that it really shows in Ashen Hawk. Players might not like this, but I would say to give the game a chance because the plot and characters really shine in these games.
Tumblr media
Characters: (9/10)
The characters in this game were all very likeable in different ways. Since this is a non-spoiler review, I cannot go into too much detail on each character, but I do feel that each one was delivered well based on the circumstances they were put in. I think that left a big impression on me because for each character, their ending is not necessarily happy or consequence free.
The Psychedelica series does a good job on showing each characters personality outside of the main plot through extra events you can obtain throughout the game. I found myself liking some characters more than others due to these extra events. However, each side story added a lot of texture to the characters and overall showed their dynamic with the main girl.
Some background before getting into the characters is that they focus on two opposing clans: the Wolf and Hawk clans. They both manage the town, but do not get along. Other characters are residents of the church and tower. Only the main cast will be described, while some side characters will be briefly mentioned.
Tumblr media
Jed/Eiar (Jed is the name she uses as a man, while Eiar is her real name. Both names can be changed. Voice actor: Tamura Mutsumi)
Jed is the protagonist of the game and a resident of the tower. I am going to refer to her using her male name because it is mostly used throughout the story. It shows above that Jed is not her birth name but is given to her to disguise her gender because she has the mark of a witch. Jed is very independent, which causes her to not rely on others very often. She works as a handyman to make a living and is skilled in housework such as cooking. She is seen as a very reliable person, and often takes care of others. In search of the missing relic, she is often seen to long for what it would have been like if she did not have to hide her gender. This shows a different side of her where players can see more of her desires and thoughts, which can sometimes cause her to be a bit self assuming toward others. Overall, I thought that Jed was a strong protagonist because of her many skills and witty personality. I did not agree with some of her actions, but it was all very believable with how the plot developed.
Tumblr media
Lavan (Voice actor: Hino Satoshi)
Lavan is the eldest son and heir to the Wolf Clan. He is loved by everyone, but keeps a distance from others at the same time. His closer relationships are basically with Jed and his family. He is good natured and skilled in combat. He often puts the priorities of the clan above his own feelings. He is pretty much the older brother type character.
My thoughts on Lavan were that I felt for him, but he was my least favorite of the group. I already had a feeling that he would be my least favorite, but I got to say the voice actor did a great job with his character. He wasn’t my type and his ending was alright. I just had vibes from him, and I am sure you will too. I think they made it pretty obvious.
Tumblr media
Levi (Voice actor: Saitou Souma)
Levi is the second son of the Wolf clan who is in charge of the vigilante group. He is hot-headed at times when provoked by the Hawk clan, but he is an overall cheerful person. He thinks of Jed as a younger brother, but Jed often ends up giving him advice instead.
Levi is my favorite in the game. My first impression of him with the short description given was that he was going to be one of those short-tempered manly guys who like eating meat. A typical stereotype you see in anime. Not going to say if he was or not, but Levi went up a lot for me as the game progressed. Some things I can say are that I really like that his relationship with Lavan was not a basic sibling rivalry. They were brothers that supported each other. Levi had a lot of texture and flaws, but I like that as a character he accepted his flaws.
Tumblr media
Lugus (Voice actor: Furukawa Makoto)
Lugus is the son of the current Hawk clan leader, Olgar, and the next heir. He has an intense expression where others find it difficult to approach him. He is seen doing his father’s bidding and does not care about the town residents opinions of him. Of course, there is a lot more to Lugus than this. He is a man that respects his father, and cares for his younger sister, Ti.
Lugus was probably my second favorite in the game. He is that cold type that is actually soft and adorable. He is also the poster boy of the game which is obvious from all the promotional art and the alternative game cover. It is also pretty obvious as the story progresses since there is some romantic bias. I honestly thought he was a great character, so overall poster boy material.
Tumblr media
Tower Overlord aka Ashen Hawk (Voice actor: Hirakawa Daisuke)
Ashen Hawk is a free spirited man that does not remember his past. He is also a resident of the tower and is often scolded by Jed for his lazy behavior. Because of his behavior, he does not like troublesome things and does not go out to meet others. He is also one of the only characters that knows Jed is a girl.
My first impression of Ashen Hawk was that he was going to be the flirtatious type. He is, in a way, and often teases Jed, but he has a lot more layers than that. I found his interactions with her to be fun and sweet. He is very much like a guardian figure to her. Ashen Hawk is a bit of a mystery, so I cannot reveal much.
Tumblr media
Hugh (Voice actor: Namikawa Daisuke)
Hugh is a mysterious traveler who comes and goes as he pleases. He takes an interest in the heroine and wants to see how her story plays out.
Hugh was my third favorite. I got the feeling as the story progressed that he was strangely easy to talk with. He drops a lot of hints to the first game and often tells the heroine stories from his travels. His character was actually pretty confusing, but most of his story was sorted out as you got more endings. He has got to be the most beautiful character in the game. I found myself liking him more in the common route and other people’s endings rather than his own.
Plot/Gameplay: (9/10)
The description and character section of this review basically shows the general story that will unfold. The beginning of the story is a very long common route that branches into different endings. In these games, you are usually required to complete the common route first to get character specific endings. It is all set up in a flowchart system that you will see below. I like this system a lot because you can skip over parts of the story faster. The plot consists of 10 chapters, but some endings can end in early chapters.
Tumblr media
There is also a map function of the town that consists of different side stories and events. The events in pink are considered “Town Memories” which can be described more as questions that you ask the people of the town. It is almost like a trivia add-on because it even asks some of the main characters their favorite food or hobbies. The events in blue are considered “Short Story Episodes” where Jed/Eiar can interact with the main and side characters of the game. Lastly, the green events progress the main story. There is also an antique shop in the tavern of the town where you can buy extras that will reveal more of the mysteries of the story. I liked having this shop, but you had to gather town memories which got very repetitive. I suggest that you do all the town memories in the map before progressing in the main story or short story episodes.
Tumblr media
The story itself was enjoyable because of the good balance of plot twists and character interactions. There are some clichés, but I would not say that they are bad. I felt that this game did a good job using some of these clichés. Some of the plot twists can be easy to predict, but I still found it fun and engaging. I am sure that you will have inklings about certain things and character. I had so many, and I ended up being right for the most part. I was still surprised even when I had an inkling about something, so that also left a big impression on me. I was definitely absorbed in the story and found myself wanting to know more as I progressed.
Music/Sound: (10/10)
I enjoyed the music in this game and felt that it was all thought out with the setting of the story. It sounds pleasant, lively, and dramatic depending on all the different scenes in the story. The transitions for the music were all on point.
The songs with lyrics were my favorites. The opening song “Haizora no Shizuku” by Akiko Shitaka feels very dramatic. I love her unique voice that I have often recognized in other games (The Liar Princess and The Blind Prince). The ending song, “Vermelho” by Eiko Shimamiya is also pleasant to listen to. I ended up really liking this song once I heard it a couple more times.
I also want to add that the voice actors did amazing with their characters. I think they all did equally well. I have to applaud Lavan’s voice actor though for reasons I cannot go into much.  Let’s just say some of his extra events really gave me vibes from his voice actor.
Tumblr media
Graphics: (8.5/10)
The artwork in this game is really nice. The soft colors match up with the snowy setting and look really clean. Like in their first game, they would add an animated effect to the characters to create movement in a 2D setting. I honestly like that they did this because it really gets you to picture the scene.
Another aspect that was great was that Jed gets a character portrait in the game. This was nice because the game gives her and the other characters great expressions. Jed has this amazing smirk that I really enjoyed seeing, while the others had a variety of expressions during extra events.
The backgrounds of the game were all nice as well. I thought there was a good variety since the town, forest, and tower were pretty much the main areas you could go to. The map of the town was actually a surprise to me that I ended up liking because it gets the player to have a more interactive experience within the game.
Lastly, the CGs of the game were all very beautiful. I could really feel the atmosphere from them and how heartfelt exchanges between characters were. The setup of the gallery also puts all the CGs together, so there are no separate character menus or repeated CGs like in Black Butterfly. Some character endings did not have a final CG for their romance, while there were moments where I felt there could have been a CG added. Although some characters did not get a super romantic scene or kiss CG, I felt like their interactions made up for that. Of course I was still a bit sad, but I do appreciate that these games put a lot into their plot and characters.
Verdict: (9/10)
I give Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk a 9/10.
If you are a fan of Black Butterly, I would say that this game definitely does not disappoint. I think it is worth the buy for new players as well because of the variety of characters and overall plot. I want to say again that this game can stand alone, but if you like to notice references than I suggest you play Black Butterfly first.
I had a lot of fun with this game, and felt that all the endings were interesting and matched up with each characters circumstances. It was not all happy times, so be prepared for some feels. I am hoping that there will be another installment in the future.
As always, thank you for reading this review. I hope you enjoy this game if you give it a go!

Hey! Sorry to bother you...I saw your picture with the PsVita and I am new to the DL fandom and would like to ask where I can find the game at least with an English patch? I thought that there are only patchs for Pc versions? Thank you! Wish you a nice evening!
Hey! Not a bother at all, welcome to the fandom ^o^ I’m assuming you mean this picture?
Tumblr media
If so this is actually from the Japanese game! Kanato happens to be singing in English, so they just write the text in English. As far as I know, the games for PS Vita are only available in Japanese.
If you’re in need of translations, there’s a masterlist over here which a friend told me is kept pretty up to date. Hope this helps!

I’m excited for God Eater 3:
Tumblr media
A small write up regarding my observations and speculation regarding the upcoming God Eater 3.
On the 7th of October, I awoke to the news that God Eater 3 had been officially announced (along with a smartphone game that would bridge the gap between 2 and 3). The last news released regarding a new console game came out with a teaser released in September of 2016 and another in March of 2017.
Those who know me, you can only guess my reactions to the news.
To establish my BIAS (hah), I will state that I have been a fan of this series since early 2011 when a friend of mine let me play Gods Eater Burst on their PSP. The systems stood out to me as unique and the combat was enjoyable and as the games went on, the systems continued to improve. I even went so far as to import a Fenrir themed Japanese PSVita to play the game and managed to beat it without needing extensive translations.
Now, to focus on all that we know in regards to the information regarding God Eater 3, it can be assumed from the VO of the first teaser that the location of the game is centered around the former HQ of the Fenrir organization. According to the Norn database entry, Fenrir HQ is situated in the Central/Central-Eastern European region. This will make the location different from the previous two games and their expansions as their locations primarily centered around the far east Fenrir branch. It's interesting to note that Fenrir, the global organization that served as humanity's last bastion against extinction, has suffered some sort of catastrophic event from which the VO in the teasers and the broken crest of the protagonist's jacket has indicated. It is unclear what exactly has happened, though I have a few theories that I will expand upon later.
Tumblr media
Little is known this early in the development but some details are able to be seen. First and foremost, the inclusion of the dual God Arcs wielded by the protag. Each blad has it's own shield segment and the short clip of the Gun-form suggest that the new God Ark type would be one that combines together. I also noticed that during gun-form, the bullet type is that of a continuous beam instead of a single shot type or a rapid fire. In the first God Eater, the God Arcs had the same standard "frame" for the short, long and buster blade types. With God Eater 2, the "polearm" frame allowed for the inclusion of the Boost Hammer, Charge Lance, and Varient Scythe weapon types. It has been confirmed that the previous ewapon types will return in GE3. Applications for the dual-arc structure is up for speculation, but I'm looking forward to other possible variants.
In regards to the story (prarticularly your character's story), there is a drastic difference in how your character is treated. In the past games, God Eaters are more akin to soliders to most and heroes to others. Their service to Fenrir allowed them certain perks such as a salary and it allowed their families to live within Fenrir installations, though general masses would live within the Outer Ghetto areas within protective walls. The GE3 protag, however, appears to be in a very different position. The fist indication of this is the dual armlets that act as shackles until their activation. Normally, these armlets act as a sort of immunizer for God Eaters, ensuring that their internal bias factors do not overwhelm them and prevents their own God Arcs from consuming them. Even if a God Eater lives long enough to retire, they still have an armlet and need regular bias factor checkups.
These new "shackle" armlets may indicate a new bias factor configuration or a new oracle structure. But why would there be a need to restrain this particular God Eater? All of this is speculation, but I think this came out of necessity. As I said before, something has changed and God Eaters seem to be at a disadvantage. In the past, certain events have rendered God Eaters unable to suppress the Aragami. This includes the presence of "psions", Aragami that have the ability to render God Arcs inoperable without certain God Eaters present to counteract the psions effects, namely Blood Special Forces.
Tumblr media
What I believe happened in the upcoming game is that the Aragamic have evolved to a state where they are able to surpass current Fenrir forces. In fact, it has been confirmed that Aragami will attempt to devour your character and if they get a bite in, they will enter an enhanced state much like the Burst state that players are able to use. The condition of the Protaganist could be the indication the he is some sort of prototype, some desperate attempt to combat this new threat. There is also the possibility that they very nature of the oracle cells have mutated to the point where even current God Eaters have been affected and underwent sever Aragami infection as a lot of the Aragami appear rather human in certain areas. Regardless of the how and the what, your character is a toll, a weapon to be turned loose on humanity's foe and stored away when not in use. I'm looking forward to the game and the story implications and I cannot wait to be back in the field.

(PSVita) Hakuouki Shinkai Kaze No Shou Review
Warning, spoiler alert! I know I am totally late to the game, but I just wanted to post my feelings. Here are my thoughts about each individual character (as I have not finished each character, this will be edited over time). The order of the characters’ review will be in the order of which I played. There may be some biasness involved LOL!
Saito Hajime:
Saito is a seriously a cutie (cuz I’m biased towards him haha). He is normally a serious and seemingly cold person, but he will warm up to you as time goes by. He will actually show himself to be a very thoughtful and passionate person. There were times where Saito had showed hesitance in his own actions and even irritation, which he normally do not show, but it showed he was still a human.
There aren’t much cute/romantic scenes, because Saito takes time to warm up to people, and do not normally show a lot of affection. But I still spazzed so much at even just him appearing normally LOL. The story plot was also longer than I expected, maybe because I started playing Hana No Shou first.
I have 2 fave scenes:
The snow rabbit scene. So in this scene, we will know that Saito loves snow, and enjoys admiring the snow. Since he’s normally a serious person, he hasn’t really played in snow before. So the MC offers him a snow rabbit, and he seems to be a little shocked about it. But what’s cute about this scene is not the CG, but what happens after. Saito proceeds to place the snow rabbit gifted to him by the MC at his room window, where everyone can see it. Meaning everyone was confused at why the usually serious Saito would put something totally out of his character at his room. He wasn’t embarrassed about this at all. This was what warmed my heart, as it shows that he really treasured the snow rabbit gifted by the MC. And again, showed his warm heart and how sweet he actually was, which was different from what some people may assume about him.
Saito taking care of the sick MC. There was a period of time where Saito wasn’t in the Shinsengumi because he was going undercover in another group whose head was Itou-san. But of course the MC doesn’t know that he went undercover and thought he left Shinsengumi for good. So one day, when she fell sick, he was taking care of her, but she thought it was an illusion. He took care of her all night, and even stayed with her and held her hand as she went back to sleep. This showed how much he cared for her. I had “aw”ed so much at this scene LOL.
Harada Sanosuke:
Harada is just a big, cute and warm teddy bear. He is very caring to everyone, so of course he shows a lot of care towards our MC. He’s like the typical caring big brother. My heart kept melting because he was just so caring, kind and thoughtful. I remembered when I first watched the anime, I didn’t have much of an impression of Harada, but after I played the games, it totally changed. He became my second favourite character, after Saito. Throughout the game, you can see that he cares deeply for everyone, and how much he cares for Heisuke too, like an older brother.
I don’t really have really specific favourite scenes, because just interacting with Harada is heart-warming enough. But for the sake of it, this was the scene that I “aw”ed the most:
“Confession” scene. The reason why I put inverted commas is because Harada didn’t literally confess, but he did so subtly, but of course the MC didn’t get it. This scene was because the MC was feeling bothered by being called a monster by Shiranui (one of her fellow demons), and Harada of course noticed her painful expression and said that he didn’t think of her that way. The MC then went on a mini rant on how she wasn’t a normal girl at all and she didn’t deserve his protection, so Harada pulled her into an embrace and asked if she heard his heartbeat, which is the same as hers. And then he goes on to say that even if it is a demon or human, when you’re embarrassed, your heartbeat will quicken when you are shy, which obviously means he was shy omg! His point was that she wasn’t different from others. Then next comes the “confession”, where he says in a very gentle voice, that anyone would want to protect someone whom he/she likes, which so obviously means Harada wants to protect the MC, whom he likes! But the MC doesn’t get it, so he simply dismisses it and gently patting her head while she was in his embrace. After that, the description (which is from the MC’s POV), says that Harada seems a little relucant to let her go, which again proves my point about him liking her. This whole scene was so cute I squealed LOL.
Kazama Chikage:
Frankly at this point of the game, I am getting a little bored. There are a lot of repeated scenes, plus Kazama wasn’t in the Shinsengumi so there are not much interaction with him, except when he either comes to take the MC away or just to chill.
This guy was just a total asshole at the start LOL. He didn’t care about frankly anyone, even the MC, at the start, and insults everyone. The reason why I even started playing him after Harada was because from what I knew of him, he was actually a very caring person to the MC. But at about 3/4 of the game, he started becoming more warm and gentle with his words with the MC. He also protected her at the end of the game, but I think it was just for his own benefit.
I think I liked him better in Hana No Shou. So his route was kind of a disappointment. And I don’t have a favourite scene, as interactions with him was really little. Or maybe that part where he simply stood with the MC and admired the buildings and infrastructure. It showed how he was like as a character, and he was actually thoughtful and mature in his thinking.
Hijikata Toshiro:
Moving on to our main character. Again, as many scenes are repeated, I had to keep skipping because I was getting bored with it.
Hijikata is a clever and mature person. He is strict, but very thoughtful and caring of the people around him. People also rely on him very much, so it shows how he is as a natural leader, which was also the reason behind his role in the Shinsengumi. His decisions are wise and I really like the way he explains things and talks. It is really eloquent.
I don’t really have a favourite scene, but I have a favourite CG and a part that tugged at my heartstrings so much I sobbed.
My favourite CG was when Hijikata was in his room doing his work. But what I liked about that CG was that Hijikata had his long hair down. He looked hot hahaha! It was rare seeing the demon vice-captain of Shinsengumi with untidy hair, so I thought that was pretty cute.
Now the part where I sobbed. It was at Hijikata’s ending. It wasn’t a CG at all, but I cried so much. So basically, the whole Shinsengumi was on board a ship to Edo, where they would be continuing the war. And before they got on that ship, Yamazaki (in case you are not sure, he’s the ninja), was injured badly by taking a blow from Kazama that was meant for Hijikata. In this part, Yamazaki basically knew he was going to die, so he called for Hijikata and told him his regrets and gave his parting words, and told the MC to take care of Hijikata. I can’t remember Yamazaki’s exact words, but all I knew was that I was sobbing already. Combination of sad BGM and sad moment brought on the waterworks. Yamazaki was one of my favourite characters in Hakuouki, which was why I was even sadder. After he passed on, everyone gathered on the deck, and Kondo addressed everyone regarding Yamazaki. The MC noted that everyone had red-rimmed eyes. Kondo’s words made me tear up again. After Kondo finished, Yamazaki’s body was tossed overboard, letting his body to float away. A few moments later, the scene where Hijikata stood staring out at the sea and he said something regarding Yamazaki and Gen-san that made me tear up again LOL, but I forgot what exactly he said. And that concludes the scene where I cried so bad.
Yamazaki Susumu
My third fave character! He’s another cutie haha!  There’s frankly not much in his route other than the occasional scene spent with the MC. I am a little disappointed, although not as disappointed when I played his route in Hana No Shou. He is really has very little plot, just like in Hana No Shou, so although I was disappointed, I was kind of prepared.
Yamazaki is a fairly serious person, and he always describes himself as Shinsengumi’s shadow, so he dedicates his life to it, and is quite unfeeling if he dies. It’s quite saddening too. He is willing to sacrifice his life for Hijikata, and even drank the Ochimizu on behalf of Hijikata to fight against Kazama and almost died doing that. (In Hijikata’s route as mentioned above, he died).
He is quite a warm character when you get to know him, and is very gentle and kind to MC. He appreciates her and is super cute when he blushes because of her. He would hold her hand gently and talk to her smiling.
I don’t have a favourite scene because his plot was just too little, but my favourite CGs are where he would smile and hold her hand gently, which clearly displays his warmth as a character, which is somewhat similiar to Saito, which is probably why I like him too.
Okita Souji
I would be straight and say that I really don’t like Souji’s route. Sorry to those who really liked him, but this is just what I felt while playing his route. In this route, he was quite mean and cold. He always enjoys teasing the MC, but it’s quite hard to determine whether he is joking or not. His coldness is quite different from Saito’s. If I was to compare, not being bias here, Saito is a very calm and collected kind of coldness, while Souji is somewhat the opposite where he can be unfeeling towards the MC and Hijikata as well, and just insults both of them. There were a few instances where the MC was very hurt by Souji’s harsh words, which I didn’t see in the other characters’ routes up till now. I definitely liked him better in Hana No Shou.
Souji has tuberculosis, which was why he couldn’t fight most of the time, and one of the major reason why he took the Ochimizu. It was quite saddening actually, especially when he was too weak to even lift a sword at one time. He has a strong desire to help Kondo, but couldn’t because of his condition. His condition was kept a secret from the rest of the Shinsengumi till the last part, when it clearly couldn’t be hidden anymore. Which was why he was sent to be taken care of by Dr. Matsumoto.
Souji has a lot of respect and admiration for Kondo, which he is clearly displayed his hair and actions. He copied his hairstyle and was very emotional when he heard Kondo got shot at. He started blaming Hijikata, even though there was a very reasonable reason for Kondo being shot at, and it was not Hijikata’s fault. He even went out and started killing enemies of Shinsengumi although there was no evidence of them having shot at Kondo. He was simply trying to get revenge for Kondo, as he was super angered at Kondo being shot at, and hence was blind with rage. He was only convinced to stop by the MC. This respect for Kondo was also what made him drink the Ochimizu, because he wanted to be the ‘sword’ of Shinsengumi and help out Kondo and kill Kondo’s enemies from his own hand.
I don’t have a favourite scene of Souji, probably because I didn’t enjoy his route too much.
Todou Heisuke
Heisuke was an unexpected favourite route of mine. He was very friendly to the MC from the start, and always treated her as a friend. I didn’t expect to like him because from what I watched the anime, I didn’t favour him as much, similarly to how I felt with Harada.
Heisuke is a very bright and cheerful character, and he is always smiling. He is of similar age to the MC, which is probably why he is the one that treats the MC like a friend. Heisuke is also a little childish whom likes to play around (which is expected of his age frankly) but displays his maturity from time to time. He can get quite confused about his path in life (identity crisis like teens his age), but after talking with the MC, he would cheer up significantly.
He appreciates the MC very much and is grateful for her. He always expresses that, which I thought is very cute. He is very sincere in his feelings, and does not hide behind a mask. This is probably why I liked his route. Playing his route gave a happy feeling.
I have two favourite scenes:
One is where he was having a snowball fight with the MC, Harada and Shinpachi. He was on the same team with the MC. Since Heisuke is younger and not as strong than the two males on the opposing team, he was targeted at. It was pretty funny to see that, when the other two males kept pelting snowballs at him. The reason I enjoyed this scene was because I really liked the relationship between the three males, and this scene clearly describes their relationship. Heisuke being the one that is always ‘bullied’ and teased by the other two males. At the end of the scene, they threw snowballs to a tree full of snow and that pile of snow landed on Heisuke. Poor him! And obviously, they got scolded by Hijikata after that, because apparently the snowballs they were pelting had broke the doors (i think it was because the doors last time were paper).
Second one was when he was talking to MC in his ending. It was just after they had a face-off with Kazama. They were holding hands and looking at the sunset (so cute! They actually held hands a few times in his route, which is super cute!). He was declaring to the MC that he would show Kazama next time that the MC was his, LOL. He basically confessed haha! He then proceeded to ask the MC to stay by his side, which clearly shows he likes her. He does not hide it.

So I thought I’d share how I got into diabolik lovers because it’s been something that, interestingly enough, pivotally changed my life.(that sounds rly stupid but it’s true! Lmao)
Somewhere around the beginning of the year last year, I was watching a lot of anime because I couldn’t use my hands to do anything else (goddamn tendonitis). I had watched Deathnote which everyone raved over and said it was sooo great. And I haaated it. Don’t flame me, I’ll explain what I didn’t like in another post sometime.
Anyway, it got me wondering, if that was rated so high and I hated it, I thought, maybe I should try watching an anime that’s rated low. And Diabolik Lovers came across my MAL as a rec and it was terribly rated lmao. So I gave it a go.
I was impressed with the art design, and the music was fantastic but the script and pacing made me cringe. In fact I was quite uncomfortable in my own skin while watching it. And the biting, oh man that just looked like it really fucking hurt. But the worst part was when I felt turned on by the Laito episode in the church. I was like What. The. Actual. Fuck.
I can’t even explain how much that disturbed me. To give you some context, I had considered myself pretty much asexual. I have social anxiety, and growing up with an emotionally abusive father, I have issues feeling comfortable around men. I pretty much push them away. I don’t like romance or attention from guys. I don’t mean to sound egotistical but I am small, thin, and not unattractive. I’ve had unwanted attention from boys all my life and  I’ve hated it. Nothing ever turned me on because the anxiety around guys was always so strong.
And I also consider myself a feminist. I was seriously sickened with myself that I felt attracted to Laito. He represented everything I stood against.
So yeaahhh, what a fucking disturbing loop Laito through me into. Vehemently denying what I was feeling, I started researching DL, reading ratings, other people’s thoughts, etc. I read through all the game translations and then came across the drama cds.
Oh dear gods, the drama cds.
I had never heard of drama cds or dummy mics. Holy shit did that throw me further down the rabbit hole. The first one I listened to was Ayato vs Shuu and it was fucking terrifying. And… in another what the fuck moment, I simultaneously found it hot.
I was unbelievably disturbed with myself. Morally and ethically, I didn’t understand what the hell was wrong with me. I assumed I was attracted to the fear aspect, since I’ve always been an adrenaline junky. And I have always liked dark, creepy shit and fucked up characters, so I assumed that was part of it too.
I began immersing myself in everything dialovers. I listened to every cd I could find, read every fanfic I could find that was dark and twisted. But it was never enough. I even bought a psvita and the first 2 games. And all the while, I totally denied my attraction to the brothers. I kept thinking, “There’s no way I’m attracted to abusive assholes. I just like their complex characterization.”
Then I started writing my own fanfiction.
Over the past year that I’ve been working on my story, I’ve discovered so much about myself. Of course, my OC, Sayuri, isn’t me, but as with all authors, there are pieces of me in her. And through her and the brothers, I’ve been able to understand myself in ways I never even knew existed. I thought I knew myself pretty well. Hehe. Oh how wrong I was.
I have stopped denying to myself that I’m attracted to these vampires. But I’ve also learned that it is not their abusive behavior I’m attracted to (thank the gods). It’s the dominance that allures me. The loss of control.
I spent my childhood under an abusive father where I had no control. So I tried to gain control in other ways, unhealthy ways. I used to be anorexic. I am still an obsessive perfectionist. And I always live under the constant pressure of my own mind. I can never seem to turn my own mind off, always criticizing myself.
I’ve since read a lot about power and control and bdsm. And in proper dom/sub relationships, the loss of control for subs can be freeing of this kind of pressure and anxiety. Which is why I’m attracted to that kind of thing. Because of lifelong anxiety, I’m eager for someone else to take the control I’m always trying so damn hard to maintain. I’m eager for someone to release me from that stress.
So, I no longer feel ashamed or in denial about my attraction to the vampires because I now understand the psychology behind it. Of course, I’m still on a journey of self-discovery. I don’t think we ever stop that journey. But I’m grateful that I stumbled into DL and that it helped me understand myself. I’m glad it helped me discover my sexuality and be more comfortable in my own skin.
I can’t wait to see what more Sayuri can teach me along the way. (Hmm if only Reiji were there with his whip to teach me some things too ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
I’d love to know how other fans discovered this fandom and if anyone has struggled with it morally.
p.s. edit: I can’t believe I totally forgot to also mention that dialovers got me into writing fanfiction, which has changed my life as well. I’ll save how that came to be for another post :-)

These game questions are soo interesting, especially as someone who can't afford to buy the game consoles, so I'm basically experiencing the whole Hakuoki franchise vicariously (barring the anime). In line with a previous ask, have any anime scenes (the main anime series) made their way to the games, specifically 'Stories'? Like Sano and Shinpachi taking Chizuru to that festival, Okita defending her from Itou, etc. Do they appear in other games that you know of?
Always happy to help out! Re: living vicariously, I do the same in a lot of cases; the only reason I have the consoles in this case is because a.) PS3 was a high school graduation gift; b.) PS4 was a Christmas/21st birthday gift from my mother (and was quite understandably the only gift she got me for either occasion); and c.) PSVita was a Christmas/21st birthday gift from an incredibly generous internet friend. If it were just up to me, myself, I’d never be able to [advisably] get any of those. The good news is that someday, when I’m rich and famous, I aspire to become an incredibly generous internet friend too, so someday I can lavish gifts upon folks who are still stuck living through others!
But, to answer your question—not to my knowledge, no. It seems to be a pretty one-way inspiration flow, to be honest, although in some cases I wish it were otherwise. Stories doesn’t reference the anime, but it did inspire the OVA, Hakuōki Sekkaroku, which continues the apparent trend of the Hakuōki games influencing the anime but not vice-versa. (Assuming Shinkai’s relationship with the movies does parallel the original game’s relationship with the anime, of course.)

Introduction To Hacking A 3DS For The Complete Noob
How To Hack When You Have No Idea Wtf You’re Doing
Before We Start:
Hi guys, some of you might have known me before as fireemblemhax and read some of my old tutorials but I’m here with a new blog now.
I realized a bunch of my previous tutorials were honestly a bit too “advanced” for someone who’s completely new to 3DS hacking so this time around, I’m gonna try to cater my tutorials for complete newbies in mind. I’ll try to make hacking as accessible and unscary for you guys as I can.
With that said, some of the most frequently asked questions I’d get on hacking a 3DS were: Is it safe to do this? Can I break my 3DS by trying to hack it?
And to those questions, the short answer to both is: Depends
Now lemme explain why.
Is it safe to hack your 3DS? Depends on what method you choose to use.
Can you accidentally brick your 3DS through this? Yup but once more, depends on what methods you use. In this tutorial, I’ll be teaching you the safest, virtually-impossible-to-screw-up way I know of.
Still, always try to read all possible information you can on hacking AND as a disclaimer, remember that I am not responsible if you happen to somehow brick your 3DS. It’s extremely unlikely this will happen as it’d honestly require almost willfully screwing things up but if it does somehow happen, I am not responsible for it.
I can still try to help you if you think you broke it though, cus sometimes something MIGHT look scary and broken but it’s in fact actually completely ok and unbroken (this happened to me when I first started hacking, I was 99% sure I’d broken my 3DS only to find out a few days later that everything was fine lol).
Also, always remember: Do NOT automatically upgrade your 3DS if you plan on hacking it! This guide was written with firmware 11.3 in mind, anything that might come after this might render all of the hacking methods described here completely useless. Always remember to check first online if it’s ok to upgrade your firmware before doing so.
OK, with all of the above out of the way, let’s get on with the guide. Everything under the cut:
So You Wanna Hack Your 3DS But Have No Idea Where To Start:
That’s ok, I gotcha. I was once a total noob too and though hacking your 3DS might seem scary at first, I promise you it’s not that hard. Just a kinda long and sometimes tedious process but otherwise, anyone can do it with just the right info and tools.
This tutorial might get long but I’ll try to cover as much info as I can for you to be able to fearlessly begin your hacking journey.
What Does Hacking Your 3DS Mean And Why Would You Want To Do It?
Hacking your 3DS basically means modding your 3DS and 3DS games by using various tools and exploits. Think of it as a Powersave but completely integrated into your 3DS.
You can get everything you’d get from a Powersave for free on almost any game by hacking your 3DS but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A hacked 3DS can give you access to even cooler stuff when used alongside the right tools. This is where it goes way beyond what a Powersave could provide for you.
Like for example, let’s say you’re annoyed that games like Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates have mostly nothing but Hetero romance options for your characters. With a hacked 3DS, you can easily fix this by using UV’s famous Same-Sex Marriage Hack for instance, which would then give you a ton of support options with no gender restrictions as well as a bunch of new, custom support conversation.
Or maybe you’re playing Animal Crossing but are having a frustrating time getting your Dreamies to move into your town or hate having to wait around for villagers to suggest Public Works? In that case, you can just get yourself ACNL’s Save Editor and get to editing any part of the game you want to make building your dream town a less tedious process.
Maybe you play pokemon and would love to edit your pokemon’s models and textures to look cuter/cooler/prettier/whatever? Then getting Ohana3DS would help you.
So I think you can see the various reasons one might want to get to hacking their 3DS and 3DS games.
Getting Started: A Brief Summary Of Homebrew.
In order to get started though, you need to understand a few things first.
To be able to mod your games and get access to hacks, you need to get Homebrew.
What is Homebrew? Homebrew is unofficial software made by amateur developers for closed systems such as the 3DS and PSVita. Homebrew is the software necessary for practically all sort of hacking to work so you need to be able to run it on your 3DS.
To be able to access homebrew on your console, you need what is known as an entrypoint. An entrypoint is a modded game or app that will act as a “door” between your 3DS and Homebrew. Some examples are:
Pressing A on a modded Ocarina of Time save will take you directly to the Homebrew Channel.
Putting a certain modded sound file in your 3DS’s SD card gives you access to Homebrew through the 3DS’s stock sound application.
Putting a modded file in your your 3DS’s SD card gives you access to Homebrew through the game Freakyforms Deluxe.
A bunch of other entrypoints are listed on the official 3DS Homebrew Launcher website
Before You Choose An Entrypoint:
Before trying to get Homebrew, you need to know three very important things: whether you have an Old or New 3DS, your region and what firmware your system is currently on. These 3 things will determine which Homebrew entrypoints you can use as not all of them work on all system versions.
To check whether your 3DS is Old or New: Easy enough, just compare your 3DS to the ones on this pic and you should know whether yours is Old or New.
Tumblr media
Note that 2DS’s are automatically placed in the “Old” category.
To check your firmware version and region: You can see which version of the system software you have by accessing the System Settings and looking on the bottom right of the top screen. The number is your version with the letter at the end of it is your region.
Letter E means: Europe and other PAL regions aka Australia, New Zealand and any other countries with PAL software. Letter J means: Japanese region, also known as NTSC J. Letter U means: Region used in USA, Canada, Central America and South America.
Letter K means: Korean region.
Now that you know which 3DS you have and what firmware version you’re on, you can check which entrypoints are available to you here. Compare the “Supported firmwares” section of each entrypoint/exploit to see if it could work on your own system.
BUT I’m assuming you are a complete noob to this, which means you’re very probably on firmware 11.3 and you would rather go for the easiest to use entrypoint that’d work on the latest firmware.
Nothing to worry about, I gotchu.
Launching Homebrew Through Soundhax:
SO, the easiest and safest method that I know of for the current firmware (11.3) is Soundhax.
Soundhax is an entrypoint that uses the stock Sound application that comes with every 3DS ever so it honestly doesn’t get any easier and cheaper than this.
To get started, follow the steps listed below (links to everything you need included):
Turn off your 3DS. Now take your 3DS’s SD card out and plug it into your computer. If you have a New 3DS, you’ll probably have to take off your console’s back cover and use a usb plug for microSD cards. Follow the instructions Nintendo gives on this page.
Once your SD or microSD card is plugged to your computer, download the Homebrew Starter Kit from here. The download link is in the “Preparing your SD card” section of the page. When it says “Extract it at the root of your SD card”, this just means “Don’t put it inside any folders inside the SD card”. Just put the files and folders you just downloaded directly in the “open” space of your SD card and ignore any other folders you might find already in it.
Next up, download the right sound file over at nedwill’s soundhax website. Choose the region that matches your 3DS’s and then just choose between Old and New. Then click on “Download MP4” and you should now have a MP4 file downloaded to your computer. Now, just drag this file on to the root of your SD card.
Now go back to Homebrew’s website and scroll down to the “Otherapp/ropbin payloads” section. Here, you need to download the right “otherapp” file for your console by choosing wheter you have an Old or New 3DS, choosing the exact firmware numbers you see when you go into system settings and then choose your region’s letter. Just go back to system settings, check the bottom right of the top screen and input the numbers and letter in exactly as they are on your 3DS (zeros and all). After you do this, click on “Download otherapp”.
Drag the file you just downloaded to the root of your SD card. It has a super long name that you’ll want to change so rename the file to “otherapp”. Note: Normally, just renaming the file to otherapp should work but there’s been people who reported this sometimes doesn’t work. If when you try to launch homebrew nothing happens, try renaming this file “otherapp.bin” instead.
Eject your SD card from your computer and put it in your 3DS now. Turn on your 3DS now.
Now go to the Nintendo 3DS Sound application. This one:
Tumblr media
Once inside the app, use your stylus and choose your SD card folder and you will then see a sound file named “<3 nedwill” aka probably the only file you’ll see. Play this file and ta da!
You should get a scary black screen with random words and numbers that will then flash colors but don’t worry, this means everything worked and you can now access homebrew!
If nothing happens or your screen freezes for a long time, don’t panic cus this is normal (soundhax sometimes glitches out), just reboot your 3DS and try opening the sound file again.
After the black screen and flashing colors, your 3DS screens should now look like this:
Tumblr media
Congratulations, you now have access to Homebrew!
Ok, I Have Hombrew But Now What?
Now you can use any hacks you want for any game you want :) I happen to only know hacks for 3DS Fire Emblem games and ACNL but you can always go on gbatemp and search for other hacks for other games.
To hack Fire Emblem, I recommend for you to watch this video. It’s pretty outdate but most of the steps in it still work.
To hack ACNL, I recommend you go watch this video. Very up to date.
Have fun and if you have questions or comments, just shoot me an ask.

Gravity Rush - Released in 2012 for the PSVita and late 2015/early 2016 for the PS4. Published by Sony Computer Entertainment but developed by SCE Japan Studio's Project Siren, this is their 4th project after the Siren trilogy. Gravity Rush managed to get a sequel in 2017 and, much like my last review on NieR, I find Gravity Rush to be in a similar situation as it deserves better too.
I refer to this as an "anti-platformer" because you're so encouraged to jump to your doom it would be unplayable otherwise. It's not as mind-melting as a certain Escher painting can be - structures are definitively set - yet to navigate up walls and ceilings with this boundless flight has not captured the experience of dominating the landscape since swinging around in PS2's Spider-Man 2.
Kohei Tanaka's composition of the soundtrack, especially 'Resistance and Extermination', and parts of Hekseville such as the 'Pleasure Quarter' of Pleajeune, are outstanding renditions ranging in all directions from the jazzy feel of Skullgirls or the triumphant eclecticism of classic RPG battles with a finer tune to grand orchestral performances. Yoshiaki Yamaguchi's art blends elements of Studio Ghibli, cel-shade, and Eurocentric painterly fashion into a beautiful and fully realised city. Places feel alive, perhaps a tad too so because you're constantly lifting people up with your powers and thrusting them into space (which to be fair is funny when there's no repercussions for doing so other than hearing civilians squeal). Kat herself is instantly recognisable and to see the process of her conception from 5 attempts to nail her design shows they cared deeply about this fact. It's a highly encouraged design choice - something Keiichiro Toyama can be proud of as said designer for the game.
There's very little to critique given it has also a polished story by Naoko Sato and Keiichiro Toyama. I've heard a certain journalist call it "nonsensical" at the 2nd half and frankly is wrong - tonal shifts does not betwixt quality. I never felt dulled or dragged by the exploration or stressed to see how determined the game wanted me to be in uncovering more of the content - side-missions and hidden locations always rewarded me with greater depth to the world and things I could not do earlier were managed by progressing far enough to enhance my abilities. If anything should be marked as a flaw it's the realisation Kat's 'giving the benefit of the doubt' attitude leans sometimes a little on the 'dense' side. It's very stereotypical 'superhero logic' at times - do the right thing and help others even if the reader can clearly tell it's a ploy though this same attitude allows her to be the superhero we can't because it allows her to traverse so many stylish pocket worlds. One even got me reminded of Kula World and this is never a bad thing.
What a weird time to be writing this post.
I could never of imagined 4 years ago just how much the gaming industry was going to change - the flat-footing of Gamergate, the rise of Undertale, and successful VR leading to more immersion (can you imagine if Gravity Rush put VR functions in? BLREUGH!). Oh and NieR got a sequel. NieR. Remakes of FFVII, Shenmue 3, honestly if 2015 announced Half-Life 3 and Beyond Good & Evil 2 one might as well assume anything was possible. In 2017 alone, these past few months, we've seen plenty of games worthy of making a shortlist for GotY contenders and we've not even reached the international release of Persona 5. Sometimes there just isn't enough gaps between time to say when penning this would be right yet it must be done now.
Thing is one of the hardest parts of making games now is consumers taking a risk on new IPs when so much quality is established. Gravity Rush is one example of accomplishing an original goal whilst never alienating gamers fondly attached to the conventions of what makes a great game. Metrics are never precise though Famitsu's 38/40 would be fair. I put this 11th in 2012 in my Top 20 and honestly it’s more to do with the PSVita’s tragic lifecycle than any true detriment to the game’s overall presentation. If you passed on this game because you couldn’t play it before and now you can you should.
I’d give this game a fair chance. Thanks for reading!

what are your top 3 otome game recommendations?
Tumblr media
ah look a topic i could ramble about forever
short answer, my top otome games are:
amnesia: memories
code:realize
gestures to voltage’s entire mobile library. pick one KJNHKJM star-crossed myth & be my princess are my favs tho.
unnecessarily long & detailed response: i’ll give a couple recs based on the system (tho most of these ARE, in fact, cross system so maybe it’s just my excuse to ramble lmao)
pc / steam:
amnesia: memories. toma’s character is hit or miss for people, but as a whole, the rest of the routes are really enjoyable and the true route (ukyo’s) story makes literally everything else worth it anyways imo, i honestly still can make myself cry if i think about it too hard.
ozmafia!! this one is super fun / good and just ... amazing in terms of content for your money. it has 10 routes and 13 romances. one “friendship” route with a female character, but they’re gay, harold. game is prob legit, like, longer than some honest to god visual novels, like steins;gate, it’s Long. which is good, u have a lot to do and most of the cast is likable.
xoxo droplets. really REALLY good one, with the premise that the mc is an asshole and ends up in a school group made of other people who are assholes so no other school club wanted them. 😂 iirc 3 of the routes are also free on steam, too. this one isn’t super mushy so don’t expect like loud declarations of love, but it was so funny and feel good and some of the routes (read: bae’s KILLED me) were so sweet i almost died.
honorable mention bc there’s a translation patch for anniversary no kuni no alice, so you can download it & play it free. one of the ogs. still holds up. sassy mc who will drop kick you into the next universe. 100/10 would rec. i love peter white.
switch:
gakuen club. this is a “know what you’re getting into and whether you would like it” kind of game bc a lot of people seem to find it boring, but i think cute / innocent high school love story tropes are adorable, so i didn’t. it’s a “ouran host club” kind of story / trope / vibe, if you’re into that stuff, you’d prob think the game is cute, too.
iris school of wizardry - vinculum hearts. i just ... like fantasy and magic and stuff so this one appealed to me, plus all the artwork and etc is BEAUTIFUL... basically MC gets pulled into a school for aspiring wizards and that whole song & dance. basically another feel good cute one which u know, we need those in our life. has a lot of harry potter insp if ur into that, but i hate harry potter so idc KJNHMKJHNM
nightshade. haven’t finished this one yet myself but literally everyone i talk to about it says this is the best otome currently available on the switch and hearing so much about it is making me want to finally open it since i have it on pc kjnMKJNm since i don’t use the switch much, figured it was worth mentioning.
speaking of, honorable mention that enchanted in the moonlight by voltage got released on switch and has all the main routes / side stories, etc in each pack. certainly not my fav of their games, but i do still rec it for any voltage fans.
psvita:
code:realize. if you own a psvita and you haven’t played c:r you’re honestly missing out on one of the best otome games out there PERIOD. it’s amazing. all the routes are amazing. as someone who typically hates at least 2 characters per game LMAO, i love every single route. there are sequels and epilogues and an extra route and just. play it. i’m not even gonna say anything about the story just PLAY IT. also literally best mc of any otome don’t @ me.
bad apple wars. there’s only two actual romance routes iirc, but like......... the game is Good if u’d like smth different okay kjnhmkjhn. tldr the MC gets hit by a car on her first day of school and ends up in a school for lost souls where the student body is split into two groups who are at each other’s throats. good 4 ppl who enjoy darker premises
norn9. cool bc there are 3 different mcs with 3 different romance routes, so you have 9 routes all together and like... not being stuck with the same character all the time is fun. this is more of a scifi setting too which IS NICE BC I LOVE WHEN U GET A CHANGE OF SETTING PACE W OTOME GAMES.
that said, there are a LOT of really good otome games on vita, if someone owns a vita and is into otome, i’m assuming they know a lot of the titles kjhnmkjnm
mobile:
GESTURES TO THE LOVE 365 APP (voltage games). PICK ONE KJNHMKJHNM. star-crossed myth, be my princess (the first one), and p much anything from the U.S. voltage team (app is lovestruck for that one.) u.s. voltage has a lot of w/w options.
story jar / ntt solmare games are also really good, the format is just super annoying. :/ if you can find some of their single-purchase apps, those are good. my sweet prince is my personal favorite, idk if it’s still active.
i didn’t mention hakuoki anywhere bc everyone & their brother knows it exists but there’s a reason for that, its on like 983475897 different systems, it’s popular for a reason, play it whenever u get the chance u will NOT be disappointed end novel KJNHMKJM

Catherine has been rated by the ESRB for the PC
Yesterday, SEGA teased a PC version of Catherine on the official Bayonetta Steam forum. And from the looks of it, this puzzle game will be indeed coming to the PC as it has already been rated by the ESRB.
Here is the game’s description according to the ESRB.
“This is a puzzle adventure game in which players assume the role of Vincent, a man with relationship issues that are manifested in his dreams. The game transitions between animated cutscenes and puzzle stages (i.e., nightmares); in the nightmare world, players must help Vincent ascend crumbling towers by pushing, pulling, and climbing blocks to reach an exit. If players make the wrong move, they can be killed by spike traps and giant boss creatures (e.g., a demon bride, a chainsaw-wielding baby); death scenes are accompanied by exaggerated splashes of blood as Vincent is stabbed, crushed, shot, or bitten. During one cutscene, a character is stabbed in the stomach with a knife; a large pool of blood quickly forms under her body. In order to move faster in the puzzles stages, players can order Vincent alcoholic beverages (e.g., mixed cocktails, beer, sake, whiskey); after three drinks, he begins to stumble around when moving. These sequences are accompanied by voice-over narration: “It’s said that chugging alcohol isn’t good for you, but sometimes it’s necessary” and “[T]ake a big swig of cognac!” Throughout the game, sex and sexuality are frequently referenced, sometimes while two characters are in bed together (e.g., “I finally became a man! Got rid of my V-card, BOOM,” “If the one you loved confessed to a sexual habit that you found absolutely unacceptable, what would you do?” and “After all you’ve done to my body . . . Night after night . . .”). One bedroom sequence pans across a man’s legs, then to his curling toes; another scene briefly depicts a woman caressing her body while making suggestive comments (e.g., “I’ve got such a hunger for these feelings . . . I know you have some hungers as well, don’t you?” ). The game also depicts the central character surrounded by topless female demons—though shadow effects obscure most details. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” can be heard in the dialogue.”
The game has been rated M for mature as it contains blood, partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, use of alcohol and violence.
Catherine was originally released on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. From the looks of it, though, we’ll be getting the original version and not the Full Body remake that will come out on PS4 and PSVita later this year.
It’s worth noting that at this point Catherine is fully playable on the PC via the RPCS3 emulator.
