so for Marenrow: City of Secrets (my custom magic set), wren and i have made all of the two-color signpost draft uncommons except two (18 total!). the final two to make are for the white/blue draft archetype, and have proven themselves the most difficult to make, because the archetype is such a novel idea. id like to explain the archetype and how it would work in this post, and maybe anybody that is so inclined could think of and share ideas for the cards or tell me their opinion on the archetype itself :)

so the red/blue and white/blue color pairs are "working together" in my set; they are two separate groups of scientists and wealthy nobles/politicians respectively, and the scientists control the nobles (the red/blue group is in charge of the white/blue group, in essence). the theme of the red/blue group in Marenrow is flipping coins for value, and so i think it would be cool for the white/blue group, their followers, to flip coins too.

so, the white/blue group's archetype is "flipping coins to determine two related outcomes on their cards", or what in my head i refer to as "coin control". this means that every white/blue instant and sorcery has "flip a coin" before its text, and could do one of two different things based on the outcome. furthermore, white/blue creatures would have "when this enters the battlefield, flip a coin" and would do different things based on the outcome too. for permanents, it doesnt necessarily have to be an enter-the-battlefield thing, and could instead be on like, attack triggers, card draw, maybe two different static abilities and only one is activated at all times based on the initial flip, stuff like that.

the idea here is that for the two modes, one is usually interaction, and the other is usually value. or to generalize further, when you win the flip, it should harm your opponents, and when you lose the flip, it should help you. the idea here is that both modes are good, and this creates a novel form of card compaction; every card is both an interaction piece and a value piece, but you cant control which half you get. the random nature will be hopefully offset by the cards being generally strong, so either way you get good solid results when you cast the card most of the time.

this differs from the red/blue archetype, because red/blue will flip coins more often, will care more about winning flips rather than getting value from win or lose, and notably has cards with triggered abilities that trigger when coins are flipped or when coin flips are won, which specifically wont be the case for white/blue. white/blue does not care about the coin flips themselves, it just uses them as pure card compaction, while red/blue's entire thing is cards that trigger when coins are flipped.

heres the main question: is this a good idea? does this sound like a fun, interesting, and novel archetype of deck to play? furthermore, is this too similar to the red/blue archetype? are they not unique enough? id love some opinions on this. the answer is obviously "make some cards and try it out" but like. vibes alone, does this sound interesting, fun, and valuable enough to make cards for, or should i change it somehow, or scrap it altogether for a different concept?

furthermore, id love if anyone shared any ideas they might have for cards if theyre so inclined! the cards would be templated something like "flip a coin. if you won, [interact with you opponent]. if you lost, [do value (make tokens, gain life, draw cards, untap permanents, etc etc etc)]." to make the cards fun and cohesive, the cards should probably have related abilities for each mode, ie "if you won, tap two permanents an opponent controls" and "if you lost, untap two permanents you control" yknow something in that flavor and vibe. im blanking a little on ideas for cards, so if anyone is so inclined to share their thoughts, id love to hear it! most suggestions for the set have made it into the current product or future plans in one way or another, so its very worthwhile :)

Niko

shiinotic - i imagine niko found one of these bad boys while in the woods where she ran into the sprites. she's also got a mushroom themed green outfit in the time loop ep.

togetic - evolved from a togepi from high friendship, and i think friendship is what niko is all about. she has so much love to give! it feels fitting for her to have a friendship based pokemon!

whimsicott - they are mischievous prank loving annoying as hell pests of a pokemon (per their pokedex entries). i like them as representative of the sprites. someone said jumpluff instead but i disagree because jumpluffs aren't considered pests. i think edwin, charles, and crystal hate her whimsicott but niko loves to snuggle her <3

toxtricity - amped form cause that one gets natures similar to charles (If i had more time i would even map out the pokemon natures, abilities, and move sets they would each have. i played comp pokemon...) toxtricity is also music themed, and has know anger issues, so i think charles would relate to that

scraggy - scrappy little fighter!! also punk-ish. a little guy who gets bullied but will put up a fight. i think charles would love him and want to protect him.

hitmontop - little fighting dude. i like that hitmontop has steadfast ability (incr. speed after flinch), cause i interpret it as getting back up to keep on fighting and protecting those you love, even after getting your ass beat, which is how charles operates.

Edwin

rowlet - on god, this is purely cause of the bowtie. also i think rowlet would keep edwin company while he reads his books very late into the night.

mimikyu - a lonely pokemon who just wanted to be loved. HMMMM. edwin felt its pain and adopted it into his family.

sirfetch'd - suggested by some people on twitter, cause of the actor being a fencer. but also i think edwin would have a pokemon that would protect him, before he met charles.

polteageist - hes a fancy british boy. i know his ass drinks tea with the pinky out. i think he rescued the polteageist during one of their cases.

okay so i've been listening to the dorohedoro manga soundtrack for a while now, and my morning has been a little hectic so i decided to just ramble about all the songs and what/who i associate them with, and also which songs from the anime ost they remind me of (since the anime ost is very much inspired from the manga ost)

Man Inside The Mouth from the anime ost is im pretty sure inspired from this song too so it All just makes sense. also the title itself reminds me of risu and the way he is and whatnot (im so shit at explaining good lird) also this is me just being insane but i think the voice of the guy singing KINDA fits risu more (the deeper more monstrous voice sounds like curse in my head too), like i love his actual voice too but when i read the manga i definitely dont imagine him with it i expected something more raspy(?), meanwhile aikawa being the one with the smoother voice (his raspy voice fits too giving that Kaiman and yadda yadda) Dont ever let me talk abt risu drhdr bro i dont stfu

Blaka Smoko - VOODOOM: i love this song so much but kai's stupid fucking face pops up in my head when i listen to it and i DONT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH IT!!! though yeah uh this is pretty much either his song or the cross eyes in general since the lyrics are "i sell black smoke"..though the deranged laugh really reminds me of him solely. imagine a version of the drhdr manga where black smoke is like weed and they smoke that shit and get high i Think thats rlly funny i dunno what else to say tbh i think me associating the song w kai is preventing me from having too many thoughts about it. However i hope when he like shows up fr (not just in flashbacks) the anime ost makes a remix of this song cuz it genuinely fits (also i just love how this song directly mentions nikaido and kaiman, although a bit nonsensical given the context)

Dorohedoro Zombie Slushi - Candie Hank: im so certain 1000手観音 and another song (i cant remember which one) from the anime ost sampled from this one lmfao. anyway this one just reminds me of zombie ebisu, or ebisu in general. not even like living dead day, literally just zombie ebisu. its probably the vocals tbh, someone in a youtube comment was complaining abt them and another person replied "just imagine ebisu singing it" and i cant get it out of my head now. i can totally see her sing this song, especially knowing shes canonically interested in the manga ost album  (you can see her read the songs of it while checking it out in like episode 4? i think? the one where they follow doll risu around and end up in some cheap clothing store)

Eating food and fighting Wizards - Shitwife: this one makes me very nostalgic, i like how its one of the few songs that isnt just pure nonsensical chaos. like i love those too, infact im bummed out the anime ost doesnt have more chaotic songs given the manga is literally incomprehensible sometimes, but i like how this song kinda shows the more coherent and cheerful side of the story. of course this is just kaiman theme to me, i mean the title and all. i think kaiman would really like this song, he would def listen to it. it also reminds me of that scene where him and nikaido are driving in their motorcycles, it gives the vibe of a drive in the middle of the night to me anyway, not much to say for this one too, i just think its really nice (also the drums go crazy hard)

Enter the Hole - NAH: lovely magic predecessor LOL. perfect for me honestly cuz lovely magic is my fav song from the anime soundtrack. This one just reminds me of hole, i dunno. the brief ethereal part reminds me of the past of the hole though, before the lake of refuse was created (i forgot what they called that shit in the official translation forgive me..lake of refuse sounds cooler either way). thats all tbh

She is a devil - Hanali: devil nikaido theme song what can i say...i literally want this song beat for beat to play at the scene where nikaido grows her devil tail and gets devil high (if they even animate season 2 that far) either that or when theyre selling gyoza at the department store and she goes devil high again and starts beating ass. its so perfect for those scenes also i like to think the distorted singing at the very beginning is like what humans hear when a devil sings, i know it should be more ear bleeding giving the reaction everyone has in canon but whateva!!! also also i like to imagine nikaido was probably hearing something similar while her tail was growing and she was going crazy, i think maybe hearing the singing of devils in your head while slowly turning into one is a cool idea

LIZARD HEAD - Dr. Das: i cant lie this ones...a little boring for me. like the beat is cool and all, but i think this is the one song i have the least to say abt. to reference another youtube comment, they said smth abt imagining kaiman fucking around in hole to this song, and yeah. i see it. i think if the anime animates that little bonus(?) comic abt how kaiman spends his day in hole, they should use smth similar to this song

Transformations - Shackleton: ok i lied this is the one i have to say least about. i dont mind 10+ minute songs, but damn this ones even more boring to me. the pissing sounds arent helping either LOL. though i think if they had to play this song somewhere, or a variation of it, maybe it fits best at the part where kawajiri is making nikaido do the devil exam in his house or whatever...idk....

Dorohedoro - Igorrr: ALRIGHT BACK TO YAPPING. this song is so fucking good, dare i say its my favorite of the whole ost. and im not the only one, everyone seems to love this one. its literally just TIC TOC predecessor but even better. the classical music and opera singing inserted into this absolute chaos is insane and i cant think of a song that fits shin more honestly. like this is literally shin theme. it perfectly mixes his calm and rational self with the deranged outbursts he has. ive heard people say shin is a boring character and i genuinely cant wrap my head around it like HELLO...not only is his design just cool as fuck, but he has such interesting personality? my boy went through absolute hell and grew up from an aggressive and snarky kid to a calm and if i may say, empathetic guy. like he cares about the people around him, he was carrying three guys (one with his fucking mouth mind you) that passed out because of the rain flooding the underground basement. he refuses to kill people who are weak with magic, and generally doesnt really like going on killing sprees unless its a life or death situation (which since kid has made him go crazy, i like to think its probably cuz it increases his heartbeat and being a human+sorcerer maybe doubles the adrenaline this way). also the way he has inhumanely high pain tolerance, he can have his guts splattered on the ground and still manage to walk, to the point it even weirds EN out. like you gotta be some freak to get en concerned for you (or be kikurage lol). sorry this turned into a shin rant more than the song itself, i just cant believe so many people dont see how cool shin is. like hes not even my most favorite character but i will protect all the drhdr characters i like (which is most of them). anyway moving on

i chose her tracks to match the energy of her dreamwalking adventure. when she enters dreams as a silent explorer. never having had a dream of her own, she's gliding through dreams to see what goes on in other people's heads, guarding the peace of their mind when it's needed.

BUBBLE-outtake7, night lights, Debris, The Other Side of the Door, Nanachi in the Dark, Abyss of the Sea; some dreams are pure and affectionate, some are disturbing, dark and twisted or impossibly confusing and some have so much going on that its hard to keep track of them. she knows she doesn't belong here, but still enjoys observing and studying what she sees. she conceals her presence and keeps her intrusion into dream itself minimal but she isn't always successful, so occasional action is inevitable. sometimes she encounters nightmares, obviously. and more aggressive…? creepy? if that's the right word-- tracks, the ones that feel like there's something going on, are here to reference exactly that.

if that's any help at all, i associate her with alice in the wonderland and hollow knight in the hallownest (mainly dream nail related elements).

MEDUSA tmnt 2003

the scores i picked for her are meant to reflect the feeling/mood/energy of her lair. not an entirely creepy stone statue garden or snake nest one could expect from a medusa inspired character, but a part of that vibe is present. it's located not too far from underground city that we see in episodes 13-15 of season 1 (and then some more in season 2 and 3) so expect crystals and bioluminescence. while there's an eerie and tense feeling to it, it can feel cozy and tranquil as well, if you're a friend of hers.

to clarify, she's not supposed to be outright hostile, it's just that she will respond exactly with the attitude you give her. she is rarely genuinely interested in other people and avoids anyone who lurks nearby. especially those who venture deeper into that part of the caves where she resides, so usually such visitors get scared away if they stay for too long. they are in her territory, and she wants to make sure they realize it. you can't see her but she always knows when you're there.

- tifa: she/they transfem lesbian - i cannot be convinced that she doesn’t like women considering how she is with aerith and jessie tbh, and i like her so i’ve lovingly hit her with the transgender-inator beam out of love

- aerith: realistically- they/them nonbinary lesbian - i have no basis for this tbh except it just seems right to me! as for my actual hc for her (which is a pure projection, pls bear with me) - he/they gay transman - this is purely my own projection because aerith is really like stereotypically feminine(?) in ways that i am also feminine, so it comforts me to think of her like me if that makes sense

not to mention he gets dragged into other plots like "what if this actually happened to wilbur!" or "yeah but what if wilbur was there!" or my most hated "cant wait till this character meets wilbur because i cannot enjoy this media (which is about finding and enjoying a bunch of ccs) if it doesnt have my guy in it!" like i get it, you have a hyperfix or a special interest, ive been there, but maybe then go watch stuff he's actually in, instead of forcing him into a plot he really isnt that big a part of anymore.

people also praised his dsmp writing when it was,, average at best. honestly i think bbh's and the eggpire's writing did way more for the dsmp because they actually tried to include other people in the plot as much as possible, instead of just writing for you and a few of your friends. imo, c!wilbur was an ok character, like, nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary for me. utah is death, ok buddy got it, wow, insane. yeah yeah we've all been to the soul sucking pit of utah, haha i get it. << this is just pure salt ignore that lmao

I watched Wonka today and it was exactly what I expected (not necessarily a bad thing)

Hey yall, sorry for not uploading, I was way too lazy to make posts because I had nothing funny to say about the *two* movies I watched recently, one of them being The menu and the other one being Foam Bath, other than haha Will Ferrell was one of the director's of The menu and watch Foam Bath if youre planning on doing drugs in the future.

So as I said, I watched Wonka today, out of nothing better to do because in reality, I didn't plan on watching this movie because I didn't care about it. But I'm doing shitty in the past weeks and I went to the cinema out of impulse. So I watched it and I have some thoughts so I wont say anything as a filler, enjoy.

I'll start with the positives:

The visuals were absolutely stunning, not one scene of this movie looked off or out of place, it had a very 2016 vibe to it, I dont know how to explain it but a lot of movies with this kind of atmosphere came out in the 2010s, which for me, is a positive thing. I enjoyed looking at the sets and scenes, I think the set and the costumes were absolutely perfect. It had a really heartwarming vibe to it that was kind of expected from the director of Paddington, and I think its a "KIDS MOVIE" like its a KIDS kids movie, I think a lot of little humans under the age of 8-9 would like this movie, its pretty, eye candy (or eye chocolate if you may) for the peasants.

Rowan Atkinson was hilarious, I dont care that he was in the movie for less than 10 minutes, he made the movie so much better with his pure existence.

The music was okay, the osts were pretty fitting for the scenes but I would say theyre very forgettable. I dont remember one line from ANY of the songs and I'm gonna be honest, every time Timothy bursted into a song made me cringe, a bit harder every single time. This could come from the fact that I dont like musicals, but hey, I dont like action movies either and one of my favorite movies is Bullet train, so this isnt necessarily an excuse.

The story was okay, it was very childlike and it honestly kept me engaged so it reached its goal, the ending straight up made me shed a tear or two, its overall heartwarming and I liked it.

The characters are good, they all have their own story and motivation, theyre not exactly three dimensional but I cant write this up as a flaw for a movie like this. Still gotta mention it.

Now I know, we have to address the elephant in the room. Or giraffe, iykyk.

Timotheé Chalamet as Willy Wonka was a very weak casting choice in my opinion. At one hand, I'm very happy that Timotheé had the chance to expand his career with different characters that are not the standard bottom in every european gay corn, I'm glad they gave him a role that is more whimsical and more quirky, I think it looks good on him. HOWEVER. Wonka was too big of a challenge and it was SO out of character, SO not Wonka like that at the BEGINNING of the movie, I had to imagine that this mf is Wonka's son or nephew or whatever that isnt Wonka himself. I would say that this was the weakest movie of Timotheé and the weakest Wonka period. Whats even worse that its a known fact that they went for the vibe of Gene Wilder's Wonka, that was the craziest of them all, but its not close to Depp's Wonka either. Let's start with the fact that a lot of Wonka's charm came from the mystery that was around him. Nobody knew where did he come from, what is his motivation, why is he this coocoo bananas, it was like an old man, popping onto the face of the Earth. Wonka actually gives us a backstory, that is about him and his mom, and that his mom was a cook and that he wanted to make a shop for her aaAAA I DONT CAREEEEE

For me, no Wonka backstory will be good, *because* he's supposed to be mysterious. Also the fact that this movie basically disproved the "oompa loompas being slaves" theory/semi canon, because in this movie, its ♡mutual business♡, I mean I get it, imagine Timotheé Chalamet as a slave owner.

So in conclusion, I didn't hate this movie, I would actually say I liked it. It was funny, whimsical and heartwarming, its not deep at all and its a light watch for kids.

But please for my sake, if you guys cant sit on your ass and just enjoy nostalgia because you need to make another and another prequel/sequel, at least cast Jeremy Allen White as Wonka next time.

hiii moon anon here i have a lot to say but first off: i've been analyzing the title song settle down and i've been listening to it over and over again and is the story gonna parallel the lyrics itself?? "and i don't seem to be having any effect now" like thats… oooh the angst is gonna be delicious. i hope you take this as a compliment when i say this but the whole fic takes me BACK to 2013-2015 YOU KNOW THAT ERA HAHAHA the tropes, the ambiance, the CHARACTERS!! side question: is mark or jisung gonna play bigger roles? or did they just act as plot devices for reader and haechans development. would not mind either way but given the concept of the story i can totally imagine reader coming back and just wreaking havoc on the band. sorry i love mess lol. maybe i'm delusional or maybe its the fact that it's haechan but it makes me more understanding of the character?? i trust you when you say that there's more to rockstar hc than meets the eye, and especially from his perspective it's pretty realistic that he has his guard up when it comes to really connecting with people, and we see his walls slowly crumbling down by the end too. and even in the earlier parts of the story i didn't expect him to have his sweet moments?? i honestly expected him to be worse but god him calling her PRINCESS has me on my knees i will defend reader's choices with my life because i'd do the same, i'd probably still go to the concert by the end she's so much stronger than me helppp (tho DISCLAIMER i would not be doing this for just any man its bc its haechan why i am easily swayed by the little things,,, just like reader), but i liked how she decided to take a step back this time, especially when at that point haechan is basically offering her what she has always wanted, but knowing his past actions it won't be truly easy to hang onto every word said. this is the culmination of every mixed signals and rejection that haechan gave her, and the build up to it is veryyy well done. also im still reeling from reading the fic i felt sooo many emotions and dk how to fully articulate it yet,, maybe i'll come back when i do. i even made a playlist of my own w songs that reminded me of the fic to help me move on (at least until pt 2 gets posted, cant wait tho!!)

i hope i'm not promising too much with haechan HAHA i'm not someone who likes to give too much backstory to characters so i'm just putting it out there: i'm not going to explain that he's this way becaue he was cheated on before or he had family problems etc. i just want it to be genuine layers of his character and personality that's put to the test (love making it hard for myself LOL)

i'm so relieved to know you still managed to feel for his character and appreciate the softer sides of him and a bit of his struggle... i was worried i promised a super terrible character with the preview and people would be disappointed he ended up being so gentle with reader ��

i went ahead and put this together bc ive been thinking about these games again (still need to play great ace attorney + layton) and i think this is where im at and i kinda just wanna talk abt them for a bit.

investigations 2 was really fantastic to a degree i honestly wasnt expecting, the through-line of the story and the way every case bled into one another was really well done, nothing was filler and it was all important and that was amazing AND each and every case was very enjoyable on it's own, very fun. which on contrast, investigations 1 wasnt really fantastic and that also surprised me, mainly because aai2's reputation didnt even give me the whole story, i expected aai1 to be at least a very solid title but it just... wasn't? it's clearly trying a similar idea that doesn't feel like it connects very well in the same way, its very disjointed feeling and the cases themselves feel very lackluster, like they're trying to find their footing the whole game but can't quite do it. i think they do really hit their stride in case 4, i think it's the best case in the game and case 5 is really close to being fantastic as well but it's climax is really obnoxious in the whole sense of "erm fuck you its over" into "WAIT ACTUALLY a new piece of evidence blows this WIDE OPEN" and it does this like 5 times, the argument before the final one was a lot more satisfying. also i just dont really enjoy the whole "little thief" part of investigating in this game, its okay in case 5 but it REALLY *REALLY* bogs down case 3 and is part of what makes it really unfulfilling.

i dont have as much to say abt the original trilogy, t&t is fantastic (outside of case 3 which i can't stand for multiple reasons) and aa1 takes a bit to find its footing but really starts hitting it's stride in case 3 and especially case 4 (and 5 but that's different circumstances, love that case though), jfa is the weakest to me just bc of case 1 and 3 but case 2 is fantastic and i think case 4 is the best mainline game case period, so good.

also a massive apollo justice fan, cant really explain what it is specifically but i love the main cast a lot, just has a vibe that i super vibe with even though i feel like the most standout case is it's first one, although i do really enjoy all of them.

and then there's uh. dd and soj which are.. fine? theyre fine. i guess. dual destinies for being a game that's *mostly* about athena really feels like it sidelines her a lot. i love bobby and blackquill, theyre great but everyone else is kind of... fine i guess? i don't find there to be any stand out character's other than some parts of the main cast and i find myself wishing, a lot, that athena was just the pure focus and wright/apollo were her maya/trucy, idk how that would work logistically but i feel like it wouldve given her more room to grow. also the whole thing with apollo and his friend was just really. cringe im not gonna lie they didnt need to shove a back story into the boy he was fine without it but then soj does it AGAIN and i think it's *better* but uh. did apollo justice (the game) just not happen??? are we not gonna talk abt that anymore??? ugh. i think the cases in dual destinies are pretty lackluster, case 5 is almost cool but theres idea's and concepts that feel half baked and they make me upset. i think soj actually has some pretty good cases but the way apollo fits into the whole story rubs me in a weird way that it makes the overall package feel off. also really happy to see maya again after so long but uh, shes like the exact same character. which like sure, sometimes people are like that but she feels like she was trapped in a time bubble, she doesnt feel almost ANY different and thats kind of a letdown, especially because what she does in case 5 is *really* cool. like pearl feels like shes grown and changed idk why maya didn't feel that way either. loved how present ema was though, no notes.

Its so hard hearing my sister gush about having a crush and then all of a sudden her brain plumets and then her self esteem is awful just becuase she couldnt muster up the courage to talk to them or becuases shes overthinking a really really happy memory that went well like shes trying to find something bad with it.

I understand i do, ive felt the same many times before. But ive never had to support someone through a crush before. Ive never had mqny friends and its just been myself when ive had crushes, i couldnt bring myself to vent much about it with my sis becuase shed never gone through it before.

My last crush ended really badly. It was the first time i crushed on friend [❤️] instead of a classmate i wasnt close to.

We are still friends but to find out all those "moments" was just me being delusional really hurt my self esteem and it makes me sick when i hear overlaps with my sisters current crush.

Its scary. No one i know has had good luck with relationships. Its all ended badly or gone badly or is bad etc or they are lonely even if they are with someone and have no friends. And when people have partners their best friend is always lonely.

It hurts i dont want to hear about romance anymore. I cant stand it

And it feels like everyone is obssesed with what a relationship is supposed to look like i just want to vibe and be friends and feel loved and cared for.

I feel too girly for nonbinary trans relationships. I feel sick being in a wlw relationship becuase im not a girl. And i cant be with a guy either becuase what if he infantilises me.

Even my parents dont think ill find someone. My mum cant picture a partner for me, and shes worried ill go out with someone that will hurt me. And my dad is always worried about if im being bullied in school purely becuase of my height.

Whwnever i share my fictional crushes people are like oo u like the pretty ones/bad boys. And im just like huh? I didnt think of it that way at all. Isnt it normal for people to like those characters ficitonally. Why does it stand out when its me?

And usually i like "bad boys" becuase i kin them it comforts me to see someone feel lonely and who cant communicate. And they are usually soft anyway and dont actually hurt anyone.

And pretty people, i didnt think about it? I dont understand. Its fictional crushes about aesthetics anyway and then if you connect with one emotionally they become your favourite?
