Hello ladies, gents and the non-binary! I hope everyone is having a good morning/afternoon/evening.
I’m strictly looking for online friends, just cool people to talk to throughout the day and people to play video games later down the line. I would prefer people between 20-30 and in the US or a similar time zone as Central Standard Time. Also prefer females but male also work. The reason why I say 20-30 is because don’t like talking to minors online and it shows me who reads it.
Now, let’s get into the interests and hobbies. I like anything to do with art(painting, drawing, sculpting, photography, etc.) Love the horror genre (movies, video games, stories, etc.) Speaking of horror, I like anything morbid/creepy/weird. Like oddities and curiosities. Also enjoy anime. Favorite anime is Fullmetal Alchemist. The series and the movies. All of it. Erased and Violet Evergarden are my Runnerups. Hella interested in body mods (tattoos, piercings,etc.) Like listening to true crime. Mainly on YouTube but not against to podcast recommendations. I follow along with video games for the most part. I have a switch. Planning on getting a laptop for school. I will be able to do some minor gaming on there. Later down the road, I want ti build a pc for the heavier gaming. Hiking/nature and the idea of traveling are also huge interests of mine. Love writing. Used to roleplay and write fanfictions. Still write fanfics here and there but not as much as I used to. I started world building and writing my own story. It’s a historical/fantasy. Music: indie, alternative, and some rock. Can listen to anything but most country and rap. There’s probably some more stuff that’s not coming to mind. I need to get more into reading so recommendations are welcome. Also would like to get more into the gym, self care, and fashion/makeup.
Things that I’m not a fan of which are horndogs, pervs, being hateful (racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) lying, pricks, and no turn signal. There’s more things but those are the ones off the top of my head.
About me: I am a fulltime student as well as a fulltime worker. I am busy and due to this, I may not respond as quick as other responses. I do also have to say that my mental health is sometimes an issue so sometimes won’t reply due to that. Also prefer to go to another app like discord or something along those lines.

You rolled your eyes as your girlfriend, Natasha, pulled you by your hand and towards a store, GameStop, to be exact. 
The redhead has always had a love for video games, which surprised you, in all honesty. It wasn’t exactly the fact that she was a gamer that shocked you, it was more like her favorite game was an unexpected one; Minecraft. 
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Yeah. Natasha Romanoff, the world’s deadliest assassin, absolutely loved to play Minecraft.

She had a thing for creating various buildings in survival mode. There was something soothing about going out and finding supplies to use that got your girlfriend all excited. 
Natasha played the game on the computer you had in the living room of your shared apartment, not having a game station of her own. So, you took the liberty of buying a brand new PS5 for her just because. Now, the redhead was on the hunt for a PlayStation Store gift card to purchase the BedRock version of Minecraft. 
Truthfully, you didn’t know the difference, regardless of how many times Natasha had tried to explain it to you. Although you tried to understand it, considering how much your girlfriend adored the game. 
“So… what’s the difference between the one on your computer and the one you’re trying to buy from the online store?” 
You questioned your girlfriend as she dragged you towards the gift card section, her eyes scanning the plethora of cards for the one she needed. 
“The Java Edition is the original version of the game that was created for PC users, which is the one I’ve been using. You can do multiplayer with other PC users.
You nodded your head as she spun around the gift card stand, her other hand still firmly holding your own. 
“The BedRock Edition is for gaming consoles. This version allows cross-platform multiplayer mode, which means I can play Minecraft with anyone, regardless of their console.”
Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of what she had been looking for. 
“Considering there hasn’t been a release of Minecraft for the PS5, I have to purchase it online, with this gift card.” 
Natasha smiled triumphantly when her eyes landed on what she was looking for. She selected the card and proudly presented it to you, a wide smile spread across her face.
“Ta-daaa, my ticket into the realms.” Natasha scrunched her nose up while lowering her voice into an ominous tone. You couldn’t help but let out a small giggle at her antics. 
“Is there anything else you want, nerd?” You looked around the busy store. God, there were so many weird people here, nerds.
“Okay, first of all… I’m a geek, not a nerd. If you’re gonna do something, do it right.” Natasha sassed and you raised your eyebrow at her as she began to pull you towards the collectibles section, not before shoving the gift card into your free hand. 
“Potato, patato.” Natasha flipped you off, lifting her middle finger up behind her back as she guided you through the busy store. 
You let out a chuckle, then suddenly, Natasha let go of your hand and practically ran towards your destination. 
“Babe! Look!! It’s a baby panda plushie!!” Natasha snatched the stuffed animal off of one of the shelves and quickly whipped around as you caught up with her. 
“Wow… very cool…” Your voice lacked enthusiasm and the redhead sent you a glare, landing a soft punch on your shoulder. 
“Uh, don’t even try and act like this isn’t cool. The panda is my favorite animal mod! They do cute little tricks when you feed them bamboo.”
Natasha hugged the plushie close to her chest. She gave you the best puppy dog eyes she could muster, paired with pouty lips. 
“Can I please get the baby panda? I’ll give you head later if you get it for me.” You let out a genuine laugh at your girlfriend’s words.

She was really bribing you with sex in order to get a stuffed panda; adorable.

“I mean I was going to get it for you anyway, but I’m definitely not declining that offer.” 
Natasha let out a small squeal before pulling you into a bone-crushing hug. You winced, not being able to breathe. 
“Babe, I- I kinda need to be alive to buy it for you…” You croaked out and the redhead loosened her hold on you, pulling back to peck your lips repeatedly. 
Natasha let go of you and turned around to face the section once more. Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of another piece of Minecraft merch. 
“Baby, look. It’s a torch-shaped water bottle! It looks exactly like the ones in the game.” Natasha tucked the panda under her arm, reaching out to grab the item that was on a higher shelf. 
The Russian let out a huff when she failed to reach the water bottle. Shaking your head, you made your way over to her, placing a hand on her waist as you grabbed the bottle with ease. 
Natasha rolled her eyes at you as you handed the object to her, a cocky smirk on your face.
“Show off…” Natasha muttered as she turned around to face you, staring at the water bottle in awe. She was freaking out over how detailed the design was and you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t the cutest shit you’ve ever seen. 
“I’ll get it for you if I can get head, twice.” Natasha looked up at you with a smirk on her face, her eyes focusing on your face. 
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“Deal.”

A few hours later 
“Natty, dinner is ready.” You called out from the kitchen, your eyes lifting up to eye your girlfriend. 
She was sat on the couch in the living room, playing the version of Minecraft she had just downloaded. 
Natasha completely ignored you, too entranced by the video game.
With a sigh, you made your way out of the kitchen and sat beside the redhead, finally gaining her attention. 
“Baby, the graphics are so much better on this version than the other one.” You focused on the screen and watched as she opened the door of a home she built while you cooked dinner. 
“Look at all my dogs! I killed a ton of skeletons and got their bones so I could tame a shit ton of dogs.” Natasha smiled while your eyes widened. 
In a room of the house, there was nothing but dogs. The barks could be heard through the surround sound. 
“Jesus, Nat. How many do you have?” You couldn’t believe that she managed to find that many dogs. You’d watched her play a few times and you knew that it took a ton of time to come across dogs in the wild. 
“I have thirty. Aren’t they the cutest?” You turned your head to face Natasha’s side profile, a smirk making its way to your face. 
“Can I try?” You asked sweetly and Natasha immediately handed you the controller, showing you which buttons did what, before letting you play. 
You let out a small laugh as you began to hit the dogs with your hands, spamming the strike button as much as you could. 
Natasha let out a scream as the dogs yelped, your hits injuring them. You’d known this was possible because the redhead cried when she accidentally killed her dog on the PC a few months ago.
Seriously, she was devastated. This woman could kill men without flinching, but she cried for weeks after killing her virtual dog.
“Y/N! What the fuck are you doing? Stop!” Natasha exclaimed, yanking the controller out of your hand while you laughed uncontrollably. 
“I’m sorry, I had to. They’re not real and there are way too many! You can’t possibly take care of them all. It’s a small price to pay for salvation.” 
Natasha sent you a harsh glare, creases forming on her forehead. You let out a small sigh, wrapping your arms around her waist.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“You’re heartless. I’m dating a puppy murderer.”

The redhead grumbled out as she tried to get out of your grip, but you wouldn’t let her. 
“I’m sorry. I love you.” You shoved your face into her neck, your words coming out muffled against her skin. 
“No. Go fuck yourself. You killed two of my puppies.” The seriousness of Natasha’s tone sent you into another laughing fit. 
You pulled your face away from her neck, and sneaked a few kisses on her lips before placing one on her nose. 
Natasha tried her best to keep a straight face, but that didn’t last long. Her lips curled upward and she shook her head, cupping your cheek with one hand, and kissing you deeply. 
You disconnected your lips and stared into her emerald eyes. Her forehead was pressed up against yours as her eyes scanned your face.
“God, you’re such a nerd.” You breathed out when Natasha pulled her face back from yours slightly, a faux look of annoyance and offense across her features.ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
“For the last time, I’m a geek, not a nerd!” Natasha huffed out and your eyes softened, a playful smirk on your face. You absolutely adored her and loved to piss her off whenever you could.

Chao Update: #3!
Heyo! Madam Mobius here again, and welcome back to the Mobius Garden! I’ve been really busy, and tonight I’ve got some special stuff for you, but first I just wanted to have a bit of transparency and go over a few things.
Since last time, I’ve started using Chao World Extended, a mod meant to enhance and improve the overall Chao World experience! However I’ve always been a *bit* of a purist when it comes to modding games, so I went through the customization options and only checked things that met one or more of these requirements
1: Aesthetic only: Things that only effect looks like the day/night cycle option
2: Was in the Dreamcast/GC port, but was somehow made unobtainable on PC. A good example of this is the jewel chao. The dreamcast had a little gadget called the VMU packaged in, and if you had enough of the in-game emblems you could unlock jewel chao, a special chao variant, with it. However, since the gamecube and PC have no VMU they have become completely unobtainable. Chao World Extended adds a different way to earn them through the Jewel Races! I thought this was fair because it’s still a challenge, and there would be no other way to do it anyway.

I’ve talked to some of the chao island admins and one has confirmed that beyond one thing (which we’ll get to when the time comes) there are no other vanilla changes, just additions

Onto some of the more substantial changes though! I’m still trying to decide what type to evolve these little babies into, so throughout this post you may notice that I change course a little bit in the types of animals I give and which stats are highest. Rest assured though! By the end of this post I will definitively have the answer for my evolution plans!

A not-so-brief overview of my Skyrim Dova OCs bc i need to scream to the digital void about my ideas
Freyora Lind, more commonly known by her strange alias “Bjorne Icepick”

A Nord-eventually-turned-werewolf who orphaned during the Great War and taken in by a Dunmeri mercenary whose residence was in Windhelm’s Gray Quarter. Grew up in a cramped boarding house setting among desperate mercenaries of varying backgrounds. Many of them would all come and go, but there was always some sort of a familial bond between them all.
From a young age she got in a lot of fights against people who insulted her for living in the Gray Quarter among the dark elves. Eventually she took a fight too far and was jailed for murder around 14, but was broken out shortly after by a band of masked vampires. Turns out some of her mercenary comrades unwittingly caught vampirism during a contract to clear out a vampire den and had to skip town, but not before ensuring one of their own wasn’t left to rot.
Lived in Cyrodil for about 15 years, but returned to Skyrim pursuing rumors surrounding a cure to vampirism, as her adoptive father would be nearing the end of his elven lifespan and had wished to die a normal death.
Seeing as she was literally a fugitive, and her long-belated parents were somewhat renowned for their battlefield prowess, she took on a false identity. AND an act to match it.
She’ll eat raw meat, chase prey with swords instead of using a bow like a normal person, harp about irrational conspiracy theories, and more. Everyone’s foul reactions to her outlandish act are plainly hilarious to her and only encourage her to act even stranger.
The alias “Bjorne Icepick” was simply the most ridiculous name she could think of.
Not the most morally outstanding. Besides drunken brawling, she’ll steal from anyone who angers her, even if it’s things she literally won’t ever need such as all the goblets in a household. It’s the pettiness that counts. “Try drinking your damn high-end wine now, jackass.”
Calls Dwarven Automatons “Gundams.” Including she herself, no one knows what that means.
Joins the Companions out of homesickness and a desire to fill in a gap that leaving home left.
Hasn’t bothered curing herself of lycanthropy because her whole schtick is being incredibly resourceful, and that includes using any means of power necessary. Still doesn’t fancy Hircine’s Hunting Grounds as her desired afterlife, though.
As her journey goes on, however, her lightheartedly eccentric face starts to fall off as a number of events push her to begin to question the legitimacy of her actions up until that point.
Some of which include the eventual death of her adoptive father (and how she was indirectly responsible for it even if it was what he wanted), Delphine’s ultimatum, the civil war as a collective, learning the tragic history behind the Falmer and the original Companions’ role in it, and killing of Vyrthur (no matter how much he genuinely deserved it).
She grows disgusted by herself down to the core. She takes to skooma to cope, and starts to be plagued by serious skooma-induced side effects. She ends up shutting herself away from all her responsibilities and distancing herself from her friends.
Does she get better? Maybe. I haven’t thought up anything past this point lol

A very, VERY ancient vampiric snow elf, (though it’s notable she was born a considerable amount of time after the razing of Sarthaal)
Survived many atrocities. Stayed in isolation with a band of vampires for countless years out of sheer disgust for the nature of the sapient races. (I’ll explain her full story some other time. It’s pretty complicated)
She was abducted from her isolated lifestyle by a certain person i’ll talk about later. She managed to free herself south of Skyrim, and uh, walks right into that Imperial ambush. The rest is history.
Super ignorant to modern society as a result of centuries of isolation. Exploited for comedic relief. (“What in the name of Oblivion is a Cyrodilic Empire? Are you messing with me? And please, how does levitation magic simply get outlawed by this hypothetical Empire? What are you to do when you fall down a crevice? Just... let yourself perish? How degrading.)
She reintegrated herself into society with vengeance in mind under the belief that all humans are savage bloodlusting murderers who had to answer for their treachery. (And she was royally angry there was no Dwemer left to spite, but partially satisfied at the same time). But she grows conflicted after being shown genuine kindness, even as early as being freed from her binds in Helgen.
Subsequently has a very muddled redemption arc. Queue Dragonborn hero stuff
She has impaired vision, but she cultivated detect life magic to aid her in daily life and combat (think Hyakkimaru from Dororo ‘19 and his soul detection or Toph Beifong from ATLA and her seismic sense). At her peak, she can detect life from about a kilometer away.
She can just barely read, but only if she holds the text incredibly close to her face, not to mention her Cyrodilic lessons were left unfinished after her abduction, making reading a very taxing process. Weary travelers are often spooked at the sight of a floating, ghastly looking elven woman with her nose pressed up against crossroad signs, and it has become somewhat of an urban legend.
Isn’t as nearly as skilled with detecting the dead and tenses up in burial crypts or around other vampires for that reason. Unfortunately, being the Dragonborn and all, she finds herself in a lot of crypts...
When questioned about her background due to her unique appearance: “Oh, yeah. My mother was one of those mer from the east. You know the ones. Dark elves, I think? And my father was one of those er, tall elv- no, sorry, HIGH elves. Yeah. They both died in a big fire or something though. It was horrible. I can’t get the noxious smell or the deafening screams out of my head. Good talk, but never ask me about that again.”
Queue sheltered old immortal antics: “Wow, you’re THAT old? Enlighten me on how it felt witnessing the fall of the Dwemer. Or perhaps the rise of Tiber Septim’s Empire. The Gates of Ob-“ “Oblivion if I know. I lived in someone’s basement for thousands of years. And I still don’t know what everyone means by Empire. You all are messing with me, aren’t you? That really annoys me.”
She ultimately returns to faith in Auri-El and makes it her life’s purpose to help the Betrayed find peace, as well as to seek out any remaining snow elf groups. Probably good friends with Gelebor or something.
Had a crush on Serana. We all know how THAT went. Damned temples.
Was originally gonna spiral into a much darker corruption arc (another ATLA comparison being Jet or Hama) but I just felt bad for her. Moureneris can have a little found peace. As a treat.
That’s her preliminary design made. I’ll need a mod to properly play her, because that right there was made by choosing Dunmer as her race. But I can’t do that. I’m on console, and while I got the Steam port a month ago, my PC’s stone age specs can’t handle Skyrim yet and I’ll need to wait until I can afford a better graphics card (thanks economic inflation)

A complete and unapologetic export of my character from a dead and unfinished DND campaign. Except there are no Aasimar in Skyrim, so he’s half Altmer half Bosmer. And his initial last name was Armas but I thought Armasi suited his Skyrim counterpart more, as subtle a change it is.
He’s mainly Bosmer in appearance and constitution, save for his hair and eyes, which are more similar to that of his Altmeri father’s.
I can’t really export his original backstory though because the campaign wouldn’t translate well into TES lore at all.
He’s a writer who came wandering into Skyrim in search of inspiration. While he mainly writes dramatic fables, he wanted to divert his focus to crafting his own bestiary and herbal compendium surrounding Skyrim’s fauna and flora. The ones at home are simply too vague to him!
He’s very altruistic, wishing to spread cheer wherever he goes, through the art of song (even though he was a cleric in DND and not a bard. My bad.) However, many of his verses are just blatant self promotions of his published fables.
But he’s too naive for his own good. Dangerously so. In fact, he says what’s on his mind with little forethought, with little grasp on the consequences of his actions, which lands him in lots of trouble. “I don’t favor him myself, but you guys kill people over Talos worship? That’s not very cool. A bit scary, if you ask me.” or “A Stormcloak rebel? Didn’t your leader kill a bunch of Reachmen rebels years back, or so I’ve heard. By the divines that’s not a man I’d make a symbol of nonconformity.”
He’s also insatiably curious. The type to ACTUALLY shove alchemic ingredients in his mouth with no knowledge of their properties, experiment with dangerous rune spells, throw rocks at pressure plates, and more. Needless to say he’s very accident prone.
Doesn’t know common curse words. People exploit this for laughs. Think that episode of Spongebob.
Everyone is a little baffled that HE of all people is the prophesied Dragonborn of legend. This agonizingly imbecilic writer who has absentmindedly wandered into burial crypts, troll dens, bandit forts, and more, too busy juggling his manuscripts to pay attention to his surroundings.
His past doesn’t exactly reflect his outlook on life. His mother and father fought in the Great War aligned with the Imperials despite their elven background. Both managed to live to see the war’s conclusion, but his father vanished without a trace shortly after, and it seems his mother knows something she won’t tell him.
With plenty of exposure to bad influences, his innocence is slowly lost throughout the course of his journey, and his altruism begins to grow twisted. But nevertheless, he maintains his jovial, social persona, except this time with much darker undertones. Kinda like a creepy dentist or something.
Whoops. He winds up becoming a feared Dark Brotherhood assassin. (Haha get it “Innocence Lost”???) He somehow deluded himself into thinking that the life of an assassin was the right thing to do. But he’s a funky little guy so he gets a pass for his heinous crimes against society

@justsuha​ filled this out, and I felt like doing the same.  Kinda felt they didn’t have the best categories so maybe I shouldn’t have bothered, also tried not being too repetitive with my picks. Favourite Game - Final Fantasy VI, this was an easy one for me.  One of the first games I ever played, then I came back to it around like 12-14 years old and it was the first game I ever played on an emulator, then it was one of the first games I ever watched an LP on, one of the first game I ever started playing with mods, and yeah, I’ve just played this game a lot in my life. Best Story - Mass Effect (1), could’ve gone with FFVI again but eh, and maybe Hollow Knight but I feel like the world building in ME1 is crazy-deep and unparalleled.  Maybe that’s not story in like a “plot” sense, but it’s what I settled on. Favourite Art Style - Killer7, was a comfortable pick but Persona 5 is also a really crisp game.  Also thought about other things that are more atmospheric like Metroid Prime, Hollow Knight, or Bloodborne. Favourite Soundtrack - Final Fantasy VI, like I said, didn’t want to be repetitive, so there was games that had like a banger of a track like Papers, Please, or something like Super Meat Boy, but I couldn’t really justify anything being equal to FFVI.   Hardest Game - Dragon Age: Origins, Felt like a Soulsborne game was the “gimme” answer so I wanted to swerve a bit.  DA:O is hard as fuck, if you’re not optimizing your build you’re not beating that game.  Even on “easy” I’m like chill man Funniest Game - Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, was tempted to go Undertale but since that’s kind of just a parody game I feel like it had a lot more liberties it could take to still be funny.  TTYD is super funny while still being like it’s own game. Game I like that everyone hates - Gears of War 2, some kid in Gr. 11 said I should get a 360 and play that, and so I did.  I played the online mode so much, but it never really felt like a popular competitive game.  I liked being so beefy, it’s basically just one-shotting people with shotguns is the meta and so the whole stalking someone to close the gap to be in range was super fun to me.  Campaign kinda trash and my friend wanted to get an achievement for co-op beating it on the hardest difficult that was miserable for me, but I think it’s a really fun game to play with some great audio too, the SFX are top notch. Game I hate that everyone likes - Borderlands, hate is a strong word but man I don’t really care about this game at all and people have been hyping it up for a decade. Underrated Game - Catherine, all my irl friends I tell about this game don’t know what it is, until I remind them and they go “oh yeah, that game looked weird/was too hard.” don’t know anyone who’s actually played more than an hour of it.  It’s one of my all-time faves, though. Overrated Game - Breath of the Wild, my wife says I didn’t give it a “fair shake” but I played like 20 hours and zzz... was tempted to go with a Pokemon game too, but it’s more a franchise in general than a specific game. Best Voice Acting - Yakuza Kiwami, I didn’t really have any real opinions on a game having good voice acting; generally they don’t.  Yakuza is all VA’d in Japanese so that’s probably why, but it felt pretty cool and was the only thing that I could think of actively enhanding a VG experience.  Maybe shoulda gone GTA (3 or San Andreas), both are really dated and definitely don’t sound that good anymore but one of my favourite games to listen to dialogue from. Worst Voice Acting - Metroid: Other M, not bad in terms of the actual talent of the VA’s but damn if it doesn’t ruin everything about Samus as a character.  “REMEMBA ME?!” Favourite Male - Kazuma Kiryu, was tempted to go General Leo from FFVI, but couldn’t find an image big enough before I resized this, which I could have easily worked around, but I also really like the Dragon of Dojima! It’s weird because he seems like such a simple design but he’s just badass in the right way, and I don’t know why more games can’t get it right.   Favourite Female - Franziska von Karma, from the 2nd Ace Attorney game.  For some reason had a huge crush on her, when I was younger I even drew some fanart of her which I ain’t done for nobody but her and Broly. Favourite Protagonist - Samus Aran, wanted to go with a “franchise” character and Samus is always super cool (except in Other M), I’ll always be excited to play her in some new game.   Favourite Village - Kakariko Village, felt like kind of a weird question, ‘cuz like if it was favourite area or something, I could have put some other stuff (Greenpath in Hollow Knight for example), and being a village I feel like basically limits you to medieval games but not the main hub either as that’s “a city.”  But Ocarina of Time’s Kakariko Village is always really fun to roll in to, also thought of the Goron Village, or just any village in Secret of Mana because that village theme is soo good. Most Hated Character - Nathan Drake, have barely even played Uncharted, but I just always hate any character with his personality, and he’s the biggest and most well-known.  Maybe he’s fine but meh. First Game You Played - Super Mario World, can’t say for 100%, but this and Super Mario Kart were games I was playing a lot since at like 4 or 5 my older brother owned them and they’re the most baby friendly.  Also remember playing a lot of PC games that my dad had, Timon and Pumba pinball, Chip’s Challenge, Ski Free, and stuff like that.  Skunny Kart Racing for DOS but I never understood how to get to DOS. Favourite Company - Bioware, I don’t really care about gaming companies in general, but Mass Effect and DA:O are some of my favourite games.  I might say Square as well but they do a lot of stuff.   Hated Company - Ubisoft, don’t hate them all but I just feel like they only make games I have zero interest in. Depressing Game - Doki Doki Literature Club, this and creepy are kinda really similar I feel, but I went DDLC but I kinda forget how it even ends.  I just remember feeling bummed about the purple and pink haired girl, and then the Monika scene just being uncomfortable (in a good way). Creepy Game - Doom3, don’t really play creepy games, Doom3 was suspenseful so I don’t know if that counts.  I had it for like 2 years, played it once for like 10 hours straight, and never played it again.  Still lives in my head. Happy Game - Super Meat Boy, is this a happy game? I don’t know, I feel like it’s got a pumped up energy which I equate to happiness.  It’s fun and the music makes it really addictive. Favourite Ending - Metal Gear Solid, don’t really have a great answer to this.  I really like Meryl and Snake riding off on their snowmobile though.

Cyberpunk 2077 First Thoughts etc etc
yo- so lemme start off by sayin- half of this stuff is likely my own fault for not looking into it before actually buying it- but i’m gonna still gripe about it man. consider it a gentle critique, and a casual review. please read the review all the way through before commentin anythin. i’m used to expansive rpgs like the fallout franchise, or the elder scrolls, so perhaps i’m a bit spoiled- but i’d like to think i’m not the only one when i complain about this stuff. 1. dialogue and voice. i’m not sure whhhy- but i was expecting a better dialogue tree. it seems like you get such limited options- hardly a few things before the main prompt. not to mention v’s voice themselves. am i the only one that wishes for the rpgs of old where your character didn’t actually have a voice? now don’t get me wrong here- it’s not that i hate the voices they give you, it’s just that they’re not very- i unno flexible. when i make a character in an rpg i have a very specific voice in mind for them. like when reading a book you can hear how they sound in your head. i wanted to make a sweet baby cyber boi in cyberpunk- but it just doesn’t work with the ultimate chad voice i hear for male v. which brings me to another thing 8) 2.character customization. hmhmhm boi where do i begin with this. again, this is likely my fault, for not looking into the customization before getting the game- but it’s just so baD. i was hoping, prayinG that it would be better before launch. you can customize your nail color and lengTh. your gosh dang teeth color. your pP SIZE. bUT THERE ARE NO DIFFERENT BODY TYPES MAAAN. for one of my characters i wanted to make a thicc corpo rat. there are literally chubby npcs ingame. why can’t i make a chubby boy :,> a game that doesn’t have body types immediately loses a point for me. i love making multiple characters- and making them all look different and neat in their own way. i just think it's cool. sea of thieves has better customization than this game for cryin out loud smh and they don’T EVEN LET YOU CONTROL HOW TO MAKE IT. my only hope for this is that somewhere down the road- this game becomes nexus compatible and people throw up some amazing character maker mods. otherwise my game play is gonna be very depressing 8). not to mention the guuuys. ugh man. look i like scruffy bois- but what if i wanna make an immaculate e-boi. you’ve got a beard shadow present on the face all the time i can’T GET RID OF IT AaA. not to mention they look p old. mature bois are fine- but again if i’m trYING TO MAKE A SWEET BABY BOI IT DOESN’T QUITE WORK. please i pray to the nexus gods. heLP ME. 3. fan service. alrigHt. here’s where things get a lil touchy. i don’t quite know what to think of sexism- i personally don’t believe it exists in the majority of video games. however- like, i unno man. you ever notice how in video games the female characters always get these super sexy revealing stripper clothes. and the guys get this full plate armor. i’m talking about that. in cyberpunk the female characters just seem to have better models in general for the game. they look so much better. not to mention there’s so much female nudity. i’m a woman alright. i waNT TO SEE CUTE BOIS- WHERE ARE MY CUTE BOIS. i just feel like most games are tailored more towards guys. mmos- rpgs, the general. i feel like it’s mainly because most women aren’t actually into video games- so the corpo tailors it more towards guys, which makes sense ya know? i have no ill-will towards em it’s just frustrating :,>. please don’t come throwing hands at me saying you’re a gorl gamer and you’re upset by this. if you do you’re missin the whole point of this review. i’m just sayin- as a girl, i wanna see a buncha nice looking bois, not just a buncha nice looking gorls. where the hek is my fan service?? fallout 4 had real decent character customization- i unno why it’d be hard to do something like that. dragons dogma had god tier customization oh my gosh. i miss that :,> 4. notes general gripes gameplay etc etc the combat is p weak kek. it’s very generic, with nothing revolutionary. not to mention sidequests don’t actually change character development. also i find it suspicious the large amount of good reviews they got literally at the launch. don't get me wrong tho- it's got good replay promise! allowing for decent hours of content. but at the same time it feels a little barren? not to mention you need a pretty powerful pc- i am blessed enough to have one tho. my heart goes out to all you poor bois that tried to adjust the graphics and found out it did almost nothing. i'm- i unno i'm not sure what to rate the game. i guess if you want another neato rpg it's p fun- just don't get it for the character maker. if you don't care about that tho then go right ahead. i do however- believe that this game was incredibly over-hyped, and failed to deliver a large percentage of what it promised. something that really bugs me tho are the three backgrounds you get to pick. for some reason i expected them to have more of an impact and with different routes- since each one starts off from a different point and it even seems like you go through different events for some of em with different characters. but somehow- it still feels the same. like, i unno it’s a little hard to describe for me, like everything is re-skinned but the same content almost. kinda feels like the illusion of choice- but hey if you like it then good for you man. i feel like i’m gonna have to rate this a bad for now. just because it doesn’t feel like anything they promised- which was clever marketing on their part for sure. but it’s a little too late to return this game so imna get my money’s worth out of it you can believe that. who knows, maybe my opinion will change. i sure hope so :,>.

TS4 Werewolves - Rant Alert
I got this one comment that sent me off on a whole tangent, so I decided to reply to it separately.

Dang Murf, that's very impressive! Really makes me wish Sims 4 had werewolves. I'll definitely try porting the Skyrim model to TS4 if they ever add them.                    
Y’all know TS4 is my trigger -- wtF is EA even doing over there? That Tiny Living Stuff Pack was a JOKE, like....seriously? o_O For as much money as they’re swindling y’all for TS4, EA’s Sims team is creatively BANKRUPT. ZERO innovation, intuition or inspiration.
EA just takes popular concepts/crazes like the Tiny House Movement, Baby Yoda, and Harry Potter, and waters it down to the barest of minimums: tiny homes with huge AF Murphy beds instead of bunk beds or convertible futons/sofa-beds; a decorative Baby Yoda you can’t even interact with; no school of magic sims can go to (and no magic for kids YET). I’m so tired of them!
People keep comparing RoM to TS1′s Makin Magic, and I keep going WHERE? I said in my initial trailer reaction for RoM that it made zero frikkin sense for the RoM magic land to have that perma-nighttime full moon, without even bothering to have werewolves in the so-called realm of magic.

RoM would’ve been the PERFECT chance to add werewolves. What better way to have a magical pack than to also introduce werewolves as the local denizens of Glimmerbrook’s forests. Missed opportunity, EA. (-‸ლ)

They could’ve added a werewolf household living in the woods, that your sim either befriends or gets bitten by, so your sim goes to the Magical Realm to either find a cure for lycanthropy (for the werewolves or for THEMSELVES if they’re bitten and are gonna turn in a couple days), or wolfsbane poisoning if one of the wolves is made sick by the brand new harvestable Wolfsbane *cough cough!* (Wolfsbane comes in the Vampires GP, but they could‘ve totally made more types of Wild Wolfsbane, Yellow Aconite, Purple Monkshood, etc.).

Either one would give your sim a REAL impetus and incentive to go learn magic and talk to the RoM residents and mess with potions & alchermy. Which is another reason I said (I’ve BEEN saying) I wanted HEDGE WITCHES, who could do HERBOLOGY. U_U

The RoM Game Pack NEEDED to be its own Expansion -- it wasn’t a realm at all; it was a Diagon Alley ripoff and everybody knew it. HELLO, EA! Part of worldbuilding is creating a EFFING STORY that gives your game a FRIKKIN PURPOSE. EA didn’t go the distance at all; they did the mere basics of adding magic to TS4, with a lot of style but not much substance. But ironically they did the same with the mermaids, which did get their own EP, and everyone agrees that TS4′s Island Living was worse than TS3′s Island Paradise, so wtf. (-‸ლ) 
But I doubt werewolves would get their own Game Pack like the Vampires & Spellcasters -- EA would do Faeries/Elves before wolves, I suspect, cuz faeries are in a sense easier. Wings, mushrooms & flowers, glittery magic, LOTR-esque art nouveau inspired furniture, etc -- everyone knows the standard faery.
But if TS4 werewolves got a pack all to themselves it would force EA to effing give a crap about lycan culture & lore, and the complexities of things like pack dynamics (alphas, betas, omegas, etc), moon cycles, transformations, lupine physiology & locomotion; diet & hunting (adding new flora & fauna), etc.

While heavy in gameplay expansion, with werewolf-specific abilities, interactions & animations, what other stuff could you stuff into a werewolf stuff pack? Y'all saw how in TS3 the Supernatural EP didn’t give wolves a single bloody thing other than their CAS stuff -- for build/buy mode wolves got ZILCH. We didn’t get busted furniture or shattered windows or blood splatters or more fur patterns -- NOTHING. Everything in build/buy mode was for witches & faeries--all wolves could do was tear the crap up with their claws.
And even their CAS stuff was lackluster - no hairy skins, makeup or tails, but we got body hair & face sliders, claws, fangs, etc.
I like TS1's werewolf design from Makin Magic the most, since their heads/skins looked like wolves.

TS2′s was the biggest downgrade in terms of the LOOK of werewolves, in that it was just a skin.

If EA does do wolves for TS4, I’d hope they make it so the werewolves look like effing WOLVES. At least let them turn into animals, like the ones in TS2 PETS. (WHY TF was TS2 the only time Sims had ACTUAL magical pets!? >_< TS3 has dogs! TS4 has dogs! DO IT ALREADY.)

Considering the cartoony PG13 angle EA insists on keeping TS4, I don’t imagine they’d EVER make wolves look like @camkitty2​’s amazing werewolf mod at MTS:

TBH, If TS4 did werewolves at all I BET YOU MONOPOLY MONEY the template EA’d use would be a lot like Bigby Wolf’s design from the Wolf Among Us video game:

Bigby goes through 4 phases, from man to gradually being an actual wolf in his 4th phase/Final Form. His 3rd phase has a face that not really wolf-like so much as Jekyll/Hyde; beastly enough that you pretty much know Oh that’s a werewolf they’re doing, without it actually looking like any animal.

It’s big and scary with muscles & claws & hair, but cartoony enough that it’s not drastically different from a regular sim. EA’s wack enough to pull something like that, rather than going the extra mile to give us the kind of Skyrim-esque werewolves many simmers want.

Don’t get me wrong; Bigby has a great design for Wolf Among Us, made by AA developers Telltale (who do The Walking Dead video games). But Electronic fArts is a AAA developer, with billion dollar budgets, massive teams & bookoo resources. But by god EA’s the laziest AAA company around; just the kind of twats to do AA level work with AAA finances, as we’ve seen in TS4 and TS3.
Bigby’s 2nd phase is basically what TS3 did for werewolves, with the scrunched up brow/nose, pointed ears, hairier face, etc.

This kind of werewolf design is fine, but it leaves A LOT to be desired, especially if it’s the only form you see in certain werewolf franchises. It reminds me too much of how Teen Wolf makes werewolves -- basically as hairier vampires from Buffy (which makes sense). But come on EA, go the distance; go FULL WOLF SHIFT or go home.

In Eastern Europe werewolves ARE vampires/witches -- they’re connected to nature magic, druids & wicca, neopaganism, etc: magic runes & symbols, stones & metals, scyring, bonfire festivals (having Celtic holidays would be so cool!), enchanted woods & nemetons & ley lines, the effect of moonlight on water #TuckEverlasting style, shamanistic sacred animal totemic power and such. Tap into that tribalistic Slavic, Norse & Celtic lore on werewolves, EA, you effing COWards!

In TS1′s Makin Magic and TS3′s Supernatural, witches and werewolves came in the same pack, and had gameplay elements tied to each other -- in TS1 it’s the Beauty & the Beast charm that magical sims can use, and in TS3 werewolves can be used as witches’ assistants to Gather harvestables/collectables used in alchemy potions. So for TS4, having werewolves in RoM would’ve made SO MUCH sense. Hell, they could’ve fit into the Vampire GP, too -- why was wolfsbane even IN that pack? o_O
So if TS4 adds werewolves, I hope they add something NEW to the lifestate, and do more research into other portrayals & iterations of werewolves.

Everyone knows about Norse Berserkers (were-bears), but less attention is given to the Wolves of Odin, the Ulfhednar/Ulfhedinn (werewolves). A lot of Nordic neopagans are into them nowadays.

A werewolf GP would make it so EA would have to flesh out werewolves -- if they live in the woods, give them woodland build/buy mode CC. Let them live OFF THE GRID as technophobic naturists, cuz electronics like tvs, PCs & radios hurt their sensitive eyes & ears. They could be more modern, sure, but it would be so much cooler to have sims who only use well water and hot springs and compost toilets and woodfire ovens.

Bring back hobbies/skills like bone/woodcarving, gem cutting, basket weaving & looms, soap/candle-making, pottery, horticulture, tree-cutting/tree-hugging, animal husbandry (could you imagine werewolf shepherds? XD), sparring, (arm) wrestling, boxing, hunting, bird watching and more. Basically: fullblown medieval-rustic hunting lodge aesthetics: animal pelts, antlers, mounted taxidermy, COME ON, EA, stop being boring!

So I guess I’ve started getting press releases from game companies, now. I’ve never posted news to this blog before, but I got pinged about this, so I might as well post it.
Today, Amazon announced their own game streaming service called “Luna.” For $6 a month, you get access to the entire Luna library, streaming at 1080p 60fps. Just like with Stadia, they’re really pushing the “no download, no install” pretty hard.
One of those games will be Sonic Mania Plus, which is where the press release I received comes in. Speaking of which:

Further information at the Luna website makes it seem that, just like with Google Stadia, you can go from watching a livestream to playing the game yourself -- but whereas Stadia promised to do that with Youtube, Luna will use Twitch. As of yet, I don’t think that feature works on Stadia right now. (Luna hasn’t launched yet, so I guess it doesn’t work there yet, either).
There’s also a Luna controller. Whereas the Stadia controller adopts the Playstation symmetrical design, Luna replicates the Xbox button and stick layout. In truth, it’s vaguely similar to that Amazon Fire Controller they used to sell, but with purple accents now.

My experience with these streaming services hasn’t been too negative -- I was a beta tester for Microsoft’s Project xCloud and it actually seemed to work pretty well with minimal delay. But I also basically live across the street from my ISP’s maintenance office, which means my internet is probably better than most. (We pay for 80mbps, but since we live so close, we usually get closer to 110mbps with some pretty low ping latency to boot).
My time with xCloud wasn’t all sunshine and roses, though. For as well as it worked, I couldn’t use the internet for anything else while I was streaming a game, or else the stream would begin to stutter and the controls would feel noticeably sluggish. It brought back memories of early broadband internet, or even dial-up, where you just didn’t have enough bandwidth to do more than one thing at a time. Even a simple Youtube video would completely destroy the gameplay stream. I had to focus exclusively on the game and nothing else, which wasn’t something I always wanted to do.
Luna’s pricing structure does seem a bit more friendly than Google Stadia’s at the very least, but there’s no changing the fact that these game streaming services feel like they’re made for rich people who can afford to have nice enough internet for this to make sense. Those same people could also afford to just have the hardware on site to play these games with the settings maxed out, too, without dealing with video compression artifacts, control latency, service outages, or anything else. Sort of defeats the purpose, if you ask me.
You can sign up to be a beta tester for Amazon Luna, but if it’s anything like Microsoft’s Project xCloud, you won’t be compensated for your services. After the lengthy beta period, Microsoft emailed me a PNG and said I could use it to “print out my own badge.” Labor sure is cool when it’s free, huh?

If any of this sounds like I’m bitter, you’ll have to forgive me for feeling morose over a future where you have even fewer ownership rights than you do right now. $5.99 a month sounds like a really good deal when you’re only considering the raw value of the money itself, but what else are you giving away in exchange for that? Does "no install time" really sound so good when you're signing away the freedom of user-made customizations and mod support? What if some day you go to play Sonic Mania Plus on Amazon Luna and it isn’t available, because Sega struck an exclusivity deal with some other streaming platform? Some very rich people are very excited about forcing you to make choices about that kind of stuff over the next ten years, and it all starts here. Are you okay with that?
Personally, I’m not. But that’s just me. Anyway, it sounds like Luna will launch with Sonic Mania Plus, so stay tuned for that, I guess.

An Annotated Mass Effect Playthrough, Part Six
Wherein we get out into space and explore a bit, and complete our crew.
And post a lot of gifs, because screenshots were lost.

So I use the NVidia Control Panel app to take screenshots and videos.  Since it’s already running and it takes good shots it seems dumb to not use it.
I ended up being super busy this week and didn’t play much, just got through like, talking to Kaidan after the big speech on the bridge more or less for the entire week, and through Therum.  I updated my drivers a day or two ago.  And then I didn’t notice that for whatever reason, yesterday when I went to play for a few hours, NVidia decided to record videos just fine, but not take screenshots.  I probably actually mashed the button several hundred times.... but all I got were videos.
Most of it wasn’t a great loss, it was a lot of talking to the crew, and a few planetary missions which... so I’m going to have to go back and redo some of it later for screenshots.
But I thought... hey, for posting on tumblr, I’ll just make it a shorter update and make a few gifs and most this a mostly-gif post!  That’ll be fun!
...and then I spent several hours making almost 80 gifs, including a lot of what I also had screenshots for but thought making gifs would be more fun.  
I mean I was watching the last few eps of the newest season of Great British Bake Off on Netflix, and a few other shows this morning so it wasn’t just gif time... but yeah I made a lot.  So I might split this into two posts now because... that’s a lot of gifs. This post will still have a lot of screenshots, too.  So here we go!

There are so many things to love about this moment.  It’s such a great like, re-launch of the game... Bioware telling us “Okay, now you know the plot, you know all the major players, you know a lot about our world (galaxy) and how it works and who lives here, now, it’s time for you to go out on your own.”
First, it starts with being able to vent a little to Joker, which is a nice touch.  Shepard might feel guilty about taking the ship over from Anderson, but Joker also assures us here, a great preview of the way he’s tasked with helping Shepard keep it together in ME3.

I love seeing Shepard’s words affect the crew.  The swelling music, the same as the “you’re a Spectre now!!” music just underscores the journey, and what’s to come.

ALOT, btw, makes the galaxy map so pretty.  Sharper and clearer and more colorful.  
We all usually just head to Liara’s Dig Site first, right?  Unless you’re doing one of those “Pick up Liara last just to see what happens” playthroughs?  I did that once. It felt weird.  And sad, when you tell her “oops I killed your mom and I’m not sorry.”  Seems like she shouldn’t have gotten over that so quickly, but well, that’s game design.  The entire plot just doesn’t feel the same and more flimsy without Liara around from the start.
I usually do Therum --> Feros --> Noveria --> Virmire.

What a LOVELY day, nothing could possibly go wrong on this barren world. I feel like they gave us a pretty easy-to-get-around-on world to start out with.
I honestly love driving around in the mako 90% of the time?  Once you’re used to the controls, it’s not that hard to get most places you want to go.  Though I admit the Nomad in Andromeda is a big upgrade.  I kinda miss it in ME2 and ME3, though I only do what driving is necessary in Overlord and skip Firewalker like, half the time.
First, let’s check out the map...

I’m pretty sure I didn’t realize you could mark your destination on the map and it’d put a handy arrow on your radar until I started playing on PC.  Before then I was checking the map every 5 seconds making SURE I was going the right way.  *facepalm*  
Generally my scanning strategy on the planet is... just go to the things on the map, but do go to ALL the things on the map.  If I see something along the way, stop and get it.  I don’t go way out of my way to look for unmarked stuff.  Usually the UNC missions can be completed doing that + complete planet / asteroid scanning.

UGH.  MINIGAMES.
Like I get that the minigame is a stand in for “looking for clues, are you successful in finding anything useful?” or whatever but it’s still just the worst.  A minigame is fun occasionally, making it as a gate to something like looting a body is stupid.  I guess I have to forgo actually putting points into things that keep Kaidan alive at the early levels so he can help me... loot bodies.  Cool.  Great.
Since I’m cheating in credits, all weapons and armor get medigelled almost immediately so that I don’t have to do the minigame later on when they get harder, like, ever.
The ME2 minigames at least make a little more sense than this moving puzzler thing.  That’s at least an attempt to look like some kind of code hacking or rewiring/reprogramming.  This thing is just... silly.
ME2 has a disable minigames mod... so there will be no talk of minigames from here on out.  They don’t exist after the easy minigames early on in ME1.
So I ... somehow managed to not get video or screenshots of you know the ICONIC THRESHER MAW attack on Edolus?  So please enjoy this gif I made of it back in 2013 instead.

Also, ME3 has a mod now that lets chracters use their correct weapons in cutscenes, my eternal devotion to the modder who could do that in ME1.  None of these characters use assault rifles in-game!!

I’m fairly certain I have played and replayed this fight more than any other in ME1.  AKA RUN FOR COVER OH SHIT AVOID THE BOMBS AND LASERS FLYING AT YOU AT ONCE PLEASE DON’T DIE COMPANIONS PLEASE KILL SOMETHING I CAN’T DO THIS ON MY OWN AHHHHH!!! 
This time around, I died my first time, actually did really well the second time, and decided to go back and record the fight for gifs and... won, barely.  The gifs would not be good.  Wrex and Kaidan didn’t last long.

Texture popping is still an issue even with a decent computer and texture packs, but at least it’s quick now.
Also I really feel the loss of this conference room in the future games.  The awkward oval table never quite feels the same.  But also, uh, this is a lot of room taken up in this small ship for eight chairs and a holoprojector.  You gotta think there’s more uses for this space than just that.

But yeah, I love these check-ins, it’s a chance for everyone to get together and really hash out what’s going on, as well as reinforcing the plot to the players in a more natural way.  Having Liara this early will let us understand the Protheans better at an earlier stage, even if it turns out she’s wrong about some stuff (though at the time this was written, she was right for all everyone knew.)
Wrex and Garrus don’t talk much here, probably because you can make it through the game without one of them.  I did a “didn’t recruit Garrus” playthrough in ME2 once.  They change like one or two lines then Garrus goes back to talking about Old Times.  So like you CAN, but you really shouldn’t not recruit Garrus, because Bioware didn’t do a great job changing anything aside from your initial greeting during the Omega Archangel mission.
Not recruiting Wrex, though.  Wow that’ll have consequences later on.
OK!  So the gang’s all here, and this post is already very long.  Next time: Let’s go talk to everyone for awhile, and do a few more sidequests because we can’t go back to the Citadel til our persuasion is high enough to grind Mikhailovich’s arguments into the dust!

Vanilla Necromancer, part 1
Looking to play some vidya game.  Mostly I want to play Outer Worlds, but I don’t trust my laptop to run it, and if I have to play it on console I’d rather wait for the switch port.  Was playing The terrible Kingdom Hearts gacha game, but it tricked me into spending money one to many times so it got the cold turkey.  I’ll still react to the rest of the story at some point, but right now I’m bitter so no.  And I’m busy lately, so I need something dumb & mindless that I won’t mind dropping when Outer Worlds does release, so I don’t want to mess with Witcher yet.  So... what to play?

Call me basic, because I am, but I always quite liked Skyrim, largely because necromancy is cool and Skyrim’s one of relatively few fantasy RPGs that let you go pretty hog wild with it.  Especially if you play it on PC modded to high heaven - perk overhauls that let you collect bones to build extra skeletons, expanded necromancy spells, playable lich transformation, re-worked college of winterhold to make playing a mage in general more interesting, build your own guild to recruit a necromantic coven, alternate faction alliances for non-hostile relationships with npc undead & necromancers, etc etc etc.
With all those mods tailored perfectly to my preferences, It’s maybe not surprising that, while I’ve played Skyrim a bunch, I haven’t played vanilla Skyrim since the game originally released.  But the convenient portability of the Switch is a good excuse to give it another go, and, looking back, even without all those mods it’s really surprising how much support there is for a Necromancer.  So here he is, Sellosus the Blind, named for a Necromancer D&D character I once ran who betrayed the party so spectacularly that he derailed the game completely and became the primary antagonist for the rest of the campaign.

We god a nice, crotchety, grey haired, big bearded, spooky eyed old man.  Fantastic necromancer mancer material right here.  Nord isn’t the best for caster, necromancy especially.  Dark Elf is probably the best there, Breton’s pretty close, but for all the characters I’ve run through this game, I’ve actually played through either side of the civil war plot arc.  So Sellosus will be a Nord, to better fit into the Stormcast side.

Along the way I attune the Mage Stone for an early game head start on leveling some of my key skills.  Ralof doesn’t approve, but it’s only temporary, so I’m sure he’ll get over it.
Of course, he’d approve of my main Standing Stone choice even less, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself

We reach Riverwood and meet with Ralof’s Sister Gerdur.  They ask me to head to Whiterun to ask the Jarl to send aid in case the dragon comes to.  Fair enough, but I’ve got a quick side errend to run first.  But that’ll wait for next post, if I feel motivated enough to continue.

So for the moment, here I am, Sellosus the Blind, novice necromancer.  Bit of a short start, so maybe I’ll throw in a few thoughts on this guy’s build.

Obviously Magicka’s going to be Sellosus’s primary stat.  Conjuration spells are pricey.  Eventually this guy is going to be throwing out multiple expendable lackies per combat and that cost adds up.  So lots of Magicka, relatively little Health, very little Stamina.  Since I’ll be wearing robes instead of armor for flavor and style he’s going to be very fragile, but that’s ok.  Once his primary skills are running properly he’s one of the safest builds in the game.  Speaking of...

Conjuration is obviously Sellosus’s primary skill.  All the explicitly necromantic spells are conjuration, as are most of the necromantic perks, both in terms of undead manipulation (summoning undead, animating corpses) and stealing souls to use for enchantment.  The school has four main lines of perks - boosting summoned elementals, boosting animated dead, enhancing conjured weapons, and discounting conjuration spells.
Sellosus will be summoning elementals a fair bit early on, but I won’t be taking any of those perks as in the long term undead use will replace all of that.  The undead enhancing tree sounds perfect but long term most of those abilities aren’t exactly worth while either... but Sellosus will still be taking them because the capstone ability to summon or animate two minions at once is amazing and a cornerstone of the entire build.  The conjured weapon tree will be useful as the bound bow spell will eventually be an acceptable in-school alternative to destruction spells for range damage, and one of the perks will automatically apply soul trap to targets hit by bound weapons, which is much more convenient than actively casting the spell in combat - though it will still have out of combat uses.  The discount line is useful because conjuration spells are just kind of pricey in general, and again Sellosus will eventually be throwing them about willy nilly.

Another key skill for Sellosus is Enchanting.  In Elder Scrolls games, enchanting magic items is an inherently necromantic endeavor, as the energy that powers those enchantments come from captured souls.  Which is pretty cool!  Eventually Sellosus’s mastery of soul magic will allow him to create magic equipment that far exceeds anything found in the game naturally... with maybe one or two key exceptions.  That’s relatively late game, though.  I won’t be bothering with Enchanting too much early on.
The skill’s perk tree has three main paths - one enhancing elemental effects - which I might bother with for protection but... eh.  Another enhances the use and recharge of magic weapons and that’s just not Sellosus either.  But the center line greatly enhances skill & stat augmentations on magic equipment you make, and that will be huge later on.

Another key skill for Sellosus will be Illusion, for a few reasons.  First is that one of the captsone abilities of Illusion is partially necromantic in nature - allowing illusion spells to affect undead (along with daedra & constructs) which are normally immune.  This will eventually allow Sellosus to pass through hordes of otherwise hostile draugers completely unhindered as the lesser undead fall under the sway of his dark magic.  Second is the relatively high level illusion perk that allows spells to be cast silently.  Combined with stealth enhancing illusion spells like muffle and invisibility, this will allow Sellosus to remain entirely unseen by enemies while conjuring wave after wave of summoned minions.  Third is to steal style points from one of the greatest undead arcanists in fiction, Adventure Time’s Lich.  The Lich was a powerful necromancer, but its greatest threat was the ability to manipulate the minds of those exposed to its magic.  With mastery of both illusion and conjuration, Sellosus will be able to turn his enemies against each other and then raise the corpses of whichever fall first to keep fighting until no enemies are left, making for a pretty sick play style all told.
Theskill tree has a discount line - useful because I’ll be casting the stealth spells a lot and they’re pretty pricey.  To maintain invisibility in combat I’ll have to re-cast it after every other action I take so yeah any discount there is appreciated.  Then there’s a line that enhances the level caps of the various types of offensive illusion and with the way they work those are pretty obligatory.  Finally there’s a line that enhances the effect against different creature types, and the silent casting perk falls in there, so once again obligatory.  Sellosus may end up getting every single illusion perk, the only skill tree where that’s likely despite conjuration and enchantment theoretically being more central to the theme.

Sellosus’s last key skill is restoration.  This is a fairly minor skill in the build as I don’t plan on casting a lot of restoration spells in combat.  Again, despite the low hit points, once the build is working it’s extremely safe.  If all goes well my enemies should be slaughtering each other before they even catch sight of me. 
However, there are a few perks in restoration that will prove essential.  The ability to heal stamina along with health when casting restoration spells will help a lot with Sellosus’s lack of stamina advancement.  More importantly the ‘Necromage’ perk enhances the affects of all of your spells when used against the undead.  With the overall tone of the restoration school, this is obviously intended for virtuous wizards to purge the undead from skyrim with their destruction spells, but for Sellosus?  Sellosus will eventually *be* undead himself, at which point that perk will enhance the effect of positive magics he uses on himself, including that of any magical equipment he creates for himself.
...
So that’s the build, or at least the plan for it.  Even just in the perk trees, that’s already a lot of necromantic goodness to enjoy, and I haven’t even really gotten into the spells, questlines, & magic items.  Something to talk about later, if I keep posting this.

Here’s my little Fallout New Vegas modding guide
Modding new vegas is a bit more tricky than some other stuff because it recquires some very specific out of date stuff and manual handling sometimes. Remind yourself that sometimes if a mod isn’t 100% working it’s because the rar file came with a loose file you need to specifically put in the folders rather than just using a mod manager to load it.
Important things to install:
FOMM - I learned the hard way that NMM although more accessible is very weak, FOMM is strong and overwrites permissions, actually being able to install mods properly, sometimes NMM won’t even install textures because it didn’t get all of the permissions or something.
NVSE - It’s a way to extend the limited engine of New Vegas, it is an exe file and loader that opens New Vegas, if you have it extracted to your Data folder you’ll have FOMM have a “launch NVSE” in it. You’ll need this to practically run anything.

Mod Configuration Menu - Neccessary to configure many mods, sometimes other mods overlap with this by trying to insert their own version of MCM, just fix that by re-activating this mod in the end.
Anything else will probably be recommended by Nexus before you download something.

Solid Project - Do you like Fallout 4′s little tweaks but like a sane person know it’s a badly designed and paced game? Well There’s something called “Solid Project” that does a lot more than that, it adds a few Fallout 4 mechanics but most importantly goes well with “enhanced camera” and gives you animations of going out to open doors, climb ladders and pick up things with your hands! 
It also has a super useful weapon wheel (that you activate with mouse3) that you equip each slot with R and a quick inventory you can leave with K, the little item menu reminds me of Tomb Raider for PS1. Oh and each special item you pick up spins around in 3D, there’s a lot more too like the dynamic quest markers from Fallout 4 but unlike Fallout 4 you cannot un-mark a quest so you’ll have to get a empty quest mod called “The Quest” in case you don’t want “300meters afar” always on your screen.
 All it’s missing is the quick menu from Fallout 4 which is found seperate but is a must-have to anyone wanting some more fast gameplay: Fallout 4 Quicklook
Roleplayers Alternative Start - Start in a shed where you can customize your character a little more quicker and even give them some backstory that can give some extra stats. It might be a bit weird because the pacing of New Vegas is specifically done in such a way that makes you start in Doc Mitchell for your own good, it might put you somewhere where you are underleveled but if that bugs you, you can practically start in the same place rather than randomly.
FOOK - The only overhaul mod I seem to use fully, it changes the little things in games such as making items change their stats, it’s not too unfair, the changes are fairly little and it’s usually stuff like “why does this item not do this” and this game does it, it also fixes a lot of bugs, adds a few items and changes the texture for the stimpack.
As far as overhaul mods go, this one’s fairly simple and runs well with all of the other mods I ran, unlike other overhaul mods where you can only run them alone for a seperate playthrough. It’s important to note that this overhaul mod comes in 2 files, you need the esm file and the data file, run both or else you’ll have missing textures and a lot of issues.
Project NEVADA - The most recommended overhaul one, keep in mind that after installing you have to manually activate the esm files. In terms of immersion it gives you that cool visor vision that might annoying for many, and it does kind of make the HUD stuff stuck in place which nullifies aHub a little bit (talk about later), but it does improve stuff like FPS mechanics like a grenade button (G). 
I dissagree with the re-balance esm file though so I recommend disabling it since I’m too used to everything New Vegas. If you add this mod and realistic headshots, the slowmo function where you press C to slow down time gets REALLY fun and challenging, changes the whole game into a more strategic FPS game rather than a RPG one.
NVEC Complete - Considering how finnicky New Vegas is sometimes when it comes to adding a lot of mods without them clashing and overloading the engine, NVEC Complete is a easy way to just bundle everything toghether. It’s a exe file that installs a compilation of some of the best user-made mods that you can turn off in the mod configuration menu. There is a lot to cover here but it includes most famous quest mods.
Blind - Wanna make New Vegas look like more of an RPG? How about numbers popping out showcasing how much damage you make? If some specific numbers coming out of specific places annoy you, you can just disable them in the MCM. I don’t like the “heal” effects, I just want the damage numbers on enemies, I never knew my fists only did 1 HP of damage towards radscorpions before this.
Textures and other aesthetics:
NMCs_Texture_Pack - Honestly this has probably been used by about everyone, it is THE texture pack everyone uses, comes in 3 big 1gb files, takes a while to load them in FOMM but they do make everything look nice.
Wasteland Flora Overhaul - Based on an actual study of the flora of Vegas, and considering New Vegas is nuclear missile hit free, it’s realistic that New Vegas would actually look like this. Also the textures are very nice and I really like the plants.
A Familiar Friend - Pip-Boy 2500 - This really makes the pip boy more interesting and it makes me feel more connected to the classic Fallouts, in fact a lot of the replacements or additions I have in textures is making the game feel like more of a original Fallout and that Fallout 3 never happened, stuff like:  Classic Adobe Buildings is great because it’s more true to the lore.
Fonts:
Fallout Classic Fonts  To spice up your new experience you may want a new font because Fallout’s New Vegas font is kind of ugly after a while, I use “Fallout Classic fonts”, keep in mind that you do have to follow extra instructions on how to set a new font, you need to go to Fallout.ini in your “my games” folder and edit the [Fonts]. Usually there’s a text file to help this process, also I’m pretty sure most font mods can only be loaded through FMM. 
HUD:
aHud is a must (Or it’s upgraded counterpart if you want more:  One HUD - oHUD that includes more features), you can organize your hud that way, you can get some custom huds, the one I use is cellHUD which is a bit finnicky because one of the versions of that HUD is the main file needed for the second version (install the non-icon version then icon if you want the icon version).
Also I’m pretty sure (or at least mine) custom HUDS do not erase text such as “HP” or “AP”,  you'll need to edit  \Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data\Textures\Interface\interfaceshared0.dds ...A dds file is something you can edit like an image. Nevermind you will never get the HP text out of your hud apparently? 
Animations:
Get Enhanced Camera, seriously, it’s very cute to always look down and see your body, it sometimes clashes with other animations but just keep your head up if you are doing common FPS things like the pick up animation from Solid Project.
I use Weapon Animation Replacers - Enhanced Camera compatibility pack, it makes me feel as if I’m in the game or something.  (The Mod kind of is broken combined with other mods that use animations) It’s not everyone’s cup of tea in FPS games because the weapon is realistically low and cannot be seen all the time unless you are aiming down it’s scopes. Be sure to copy  NVSE_EhancedCamera.ini in the rare towards the NVSE plugins folder in New Vegas’s data and you won’t have a wonky body with no arms. If anything follow the good instructions on their page.
ENB:
If you got a PC that can run Nier Automata in it’s lowest settings chances are you have a PC that can run a pretty neatly modded beautiful New Vegas that adds modarn things like better shadowing, a fancy depth of field. I recommend installing an ENB for last because some say that it might cause issues while you are configuring mods and cause them all to crash? 
So your ENB only starts working when you see in the corner your graphic card information at the start, to be able to do this you gotta follow instructions very clearly (usually each ENB you get has it’s own easy to follow install instructions), and be sure to get d3d9.dll from the latest version: enbseries_falloutnv_v0322, or else your ENB won’t work.
Add to enblocal: in my case it is “VideoMemorySizeMb=8192″ (the ENBlocal should be the ENB pack you installed from Nexus or something, unless it won’t have this option), you can put your graphic card ram in there or just put 0 if you want to skip this entirely?
Important: Go into the New Vegas Launcher and turn off anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering, HDR needs to be checked, go into Advanced and turn off Depth of Field, Water Displacement off, you need to do this because the ENB reprograms this things, now when you use the new vegas launcher your fallout.ini file becomes read only again, so do the fallout.ini stuff (like the fonts). 
You’ll know you’ve hit your limit when certain mods just do not respond anymore. The most obvious sign would be lack of custom HUD if you are using one. Considering New Vegas loads fairly fast, it shouldn’t be that painful to test each mod individually.

I even emailed Aspyr, but they were no help. Then the other day i came across a an explanation for how to do it, at least.

Secondly Homeworld 2 was written and ported to the Mac in such a way that you can take advantage of many of the great game mods out there. I've run the version of the game wherein all the ships are Legos, for example.

I never played the original Homeworld – it didn’t make it over to the Mac and I don’t own a PC – so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got this game. I’d just heard lots of positive buzz, and something about a real time strategy game set in outer space. So I wasn’t surprised when that’s exactly what I got. What did surprise me is how exceedingly cool this game is.
But first, a few words about most RTS games in general. In my experience, single player campaigns start off fairly slow and easy and gradually introduce new units as the storyline progresses. Many players finish up the single player campaign and then move on to multiplayer battles over the internet, where experience levels really matter. That is to say, most of us can beat a single player game with enough save points and a couple of tries. You just don’t have to be an especially good player. But multiplayer games tend to fall into two categories. The first, games with a few friends, all of whom know the game basics but aren’t particularly amazing. Then there are those players you frequently run into in online ladder games, opponents who are really great players. They know the ultimate build sequences, unit locations, rush strategies, resource gathering patterns… they have the entire battle plan in their head before they even start a game.
Well, maybe it’s just me but Homeworld 2 seems to require you be the second kind of player – the highly skilled one – to really get into this game. This is clearly not meant for casual gamers, and frankly I felt a bit overwhelmed at times. But even in the midst of a heavy battle where I was getting my butt kicked, I loved this game!
There seems to be a decent story here, which is told in stylized animated cutscenes with top notch voice acting. I confess to not fully understanding the major plot points, mainly because the “Here’s what happened in the last game” intro wasn’t particularly clear. But whatever. Seems like humanity’s survival is in jeopardy and you must lead a ragtag fleet of ships through space on a lonely quest for a planet known as Earth. Oops, that’s Battlestar Galactica. Sorry! Anyway, change the word Earth to Homeland and you’ll be relatively close to this game’s plot.
I know I’m in the minority when I say stories aren’t that important in many games. If I wanted a plot I’d watch a movie or read a book. Gamewise, the only story points I care about are the ones I need to know in order to play the game. But I will admit that these cutscenes were entertaining enough that I actually paid attention to what was going on, which seemed like a lot of “we’re getting our butts handed to us, let’s run before we lose more ships,” followed by a brief, “Whew, we’re safe! Let’s rest. What? Drat! They found us! Quick, fight them so we can run again!”

And that’s fine by me. It kept me focused on the end goal of saving our species from the alien hoards. But in all seriousness, there does seem to be enough of a plot to keep story fans satisfied in between epic battles. And that’s what this game is all about. Epic. Freakin’. Battles!

In 1999, Relic Entertainment’s groundbreaking Homeworld took the gaming world by surprise. Still widely regarded as the gold standard of space real-time strategy games, it successfully coupled lush graphics with a sleek interface that made manipulating camera angles and toggling between build and formation menus in 3D space incredibly easy. Homeworld 2 takes the original and upgrades it. With a new game engine, especially during massive battles of all ship classes, you can’t help but admire its finer points, from its lovely dynamic lighting to its chilly “realism.â€
The Homeworld universe is “hard†science fiction, as opposed to, say, StarCraft. The large, complex battles it depicts have an austere, clinical feel that’s more admirable than immersive, regardless of the camera angle. But it’s great hard sci-fi, and the visuals really suck you in —literally—as you zoom in closer like a jeweler with a loupe, and the distant flashes gradually coalesce into thousands of stories unfolding. For a game totally devoid of visible living organisms, Homeworld 2 compensates by making you care about simulated husks of flying machinery. Your people live inside those fragile husks, fly them, die in them—the exhaust trails become their souls. As in Homeworld, you feel for these poor trusting bastards scrounging for asteroids out in the middle of genuine nowhere.
Which is partly what makes much of the martinet story campaign such a bummer. Homeworld’s poignant air of cosmic mystery is largely absent; here everything’s all grueling puzzle and puzzling grind. Instead of offerings like Homeworld’s wonderfully eerie Garden of Kadesh, the sequel gives you exhausting debacles like the fourth mission, in which doing things in sequence directly opposite from what’s suggested is not only possible but proves a tenth as ulcerous, and the outright sadistic red herring of the tenth one. There’s no let-up, just an overriding sense of attrition and hopelessness as you watch your entire “persistent†fleet get persistently pulverized many times over.
It’s not just the difficulty either, but the logic. The third mission introduces marine frigates, which “capture†enemy ships in multiplayer, but in single-player only give the misleading impression of being able to do so (including attaching to the ship and displaying a steadily increasing “capture barâ€). Also annoying is the automatic collection of resources. The lack of such an option was, ironically, one of the few valid criticisms leveled at Homeworld. Here, automatic collection occurs the second you’ve completed your mission goals, which entails starting the next level short-handed.
The storyline has its moments, but after Cataclysm’s strange, daring waters, Homeworld 2’s scavenger-hunt plotline feels for most of its length like an almost spitefully conventional rehash, top-heavy with extra-galactic ancient races that no longer exist except as convenient plot devices. (The whole thing’s an anthropomorphized riff on David Brin’s Uplift novels, which take space combat imagery to heights Homeworld 2 can only dream of). Your new enemies, the Vaygr, have swanky vertical missile launchers but don’t seem inherently distinct as a culture from your own Hiigarans; they are supposed to represent a “conglomeration of races.â€

Homeworld’s interface involved toggling to separate screens for building ships and researching technologies, but there were few options, it never seemed cumbersome. Here the menu takes up a third of the screen, obscuring your view of the luscious space graphics, and you can’t move or shrink it. Hitting R minimizes the research menu, but B doesn’t minimize the build menu. For all their bigness, the menus don’t seem to use their space wisely; it makes you long for the minimalist simplicity of the sensors manager.
Many basics feel harder, although you get used to them. You now build the smaller ships in complete squadrons, presumably to make the battles bigger and more spectacular, but clicking on an individual ship gives you the relative health of the entire squadron at the bottom of the screen, which is less precise. Why not an AI setting to have ships auto-dock when they’re near death? Why can’t collectors auto-repair? Why no patrol? How about being able to assign docked craft to groups? Alt-bandboxing a group of ships that includes hostiles doesn’t show a list of all those selected, as it did in the original and Cataclysm
The beloved formations such as sphere and claw have been abandoned for new, more efficient “strike groups,†fleets that can include multiple ship types but move at the speed of their slowest unit. Familiarity with these is a major factor in combat, but the rock-paper-scissors consequences of using each type are barely touched on in the slender manual, itself a mockery of the original game’s thick, detailed documentation.
For all its clumsy new baggage and rushed feel, Homeworld 2 takes itself seriously, designed from the ground up as a reward to the faithful rather than an olive branch to the casual newcomer. The lucky few up to its Sisyphean challenges will find themselves rewarded for their loyalty.

I like cyberpunk
but also fallout 4 is better
I KNOW I KNOW
but I’m right
I played on original ps4, I don’t got a ps4 pro and I didn’t trust my pc to run this game properly despite meeting minimum requirements
I’m also used to glitchy games like fallout 4 and dragon age
I wouldn’t have so many gripes with it, if I didn’t like cyberpunk
I’d just ignore it and not even buy the game and just sit back and laugh at everyone hating it
despite the parts I like, it’s CLEARLY missing a lot
like it needs WAY more
and I feel like V’s actions should have more of an effect on night city instead of not at all
they should let you name yourself and just give you titles or nicknames that people call you based on how high your street cred is
also they REALLY should’ve let people join the different factions and have the story play out differently depending on which faction your in
the amount of romancable characters needs to go up and they should all be bisexual to allow any player to romance whoever no matter which gender they play
also I know silverhand is big part of the story and all, but when finishing my nomad run and starting a street kid run, I found myself not wanting to put V through being berated by him for another whole run again. He really influenced a lot of my decisions in the game and I just didn’t like the literal voice in v’s head telling her what to do all the time.
I felt like doing stealth didn’t matter and that it was more of a choice most of the time, like if you like playing like that, it’s fine but for me I ended doing stealth just to avoid fighting too many dudes at once or because I felt some sort of moral obligation to not get a bunch of innocents involved in a club shooting or something. Sure you’re fixer will complain, but you just get a lil less money but they’ll still do biz with you later anyways.
also fixers should be faction based so you aren’t being bothered all the time. The amount of fixers that expect you to do stuff for them, they sure didn’t help me at the end of my nomad run.
Also since you can run into active crimes and kill the criminals, you can just take their dope vehicles after wards and I found myself wanting to keep a few or at least be able to customize my own vehicles but this ain’t GTA and that’s not a feature, which it should be! Ya know for all the driving they expect from you and buying cars, they REALLY should’ve let you customize and keep vehicles.
Also V should be able to have faction hideouts where they can store things like vehicles and stuff. Also a faction backup system, so V can use their phone to call for back up and faction specific members can show up for help.
also the game SHOULD have a third person mode because being able to see your character in the world would’ve been nice.
also the menu screen needs even more organization, especially for all the fixer messages and important files for reading and stuff.
also gun mods need a damage boost on like the scopes and silencers and stuff.
also for as expensive as the cars and body upgrades are, I feel like money needs a buff as well, you end up running around and being forced to grind street crimes and that can get old FAST for some people.
I also felt like there was no need for walking around and exploration. There’s nothing really to see tbh and that’s sad. Night city looks cool from far away, but up close it’s really boring and empty.
also what would’ve made this game better is being able to let your car autodrive to locations through a gps system or something. I’m so bad at driving sometimes. Bikes are no problem, but regular cars are just so annoyingly wide and long sometimes or not fast enough or too fast.
also of course fix the crashing issues and making my poor old ps4 scream.
I don’t know what later expansions or dlcs or whatever could change, maybe it might fix a few smaller problems
but other than that, I feel like the management at cdpr needs to either go about getting this fixed in a humane way, that doesn’t stress out the developers, for like the next couple years, 
or just step down and let someone else manage this shit show.
I’m not a cdpr fan, I never played the witcher or any of their other games so I don’t really know how they do things.
mayhaps in cyberpunk 2080 or whatever part two of this could be, they’ll add all these things
I don’t know anything about game development, clearly, especially if any of these things are “impossible” to do
I like this game, it just should’ve been better and lived up to the promises
this game was not ready to come out and should’ve had a better more chill dev cycle for another couple of years on next gen consoles only because by then everyone would have one.

Onward VR Quest Review — Two Steps Forward, One Step Back

Onward VR has been a multiplayer VR staple for over four years now. While it’s great to finally have it on Quest, the result is lacking.
There’s a minute left to go on the clock. A single bead of sweat is dripping down my brow. I reach over my shoulder and produce a tablet computer with a seven-digit code listed in bold print, smack dab in the center of the display. Aside from the rhythmic beeping of the objective sitting before me, I hear nothing at all. Just the cold, dead air on a quiet summer’s eve.
My hands shake noticeably to the beat of my incantations: “7531122. 7531122. 753112.” A single gunshot ricochets off of a nearby wall and I leap out, landing flat on my stomach in the middle of my living room carpet. Of course, by this point, it’s already too late. A second round lands squarely in my avatar’s head, ending the match.
This is Onward, the most prominent hardcore military-sim in VR, and certainly one of the tensest games I’ve ever played— in, or out of virtual reality.

Onward VR has been a staple of multiplayer PC VR gaming for at least four years now, and with patch 1.8 and Onward‘s subsequent release on the Oculus Quest, it’s certainly more accessible than it’s ever been. It’s unfortunate then that it’s taken the development team at Downpour Interactive so much of its time to make this port happen, only to revert the PC version of Onward VR backward into a state that is, technically, far closer to its original 2016 release while ditching the sweat-inducing hyperrealism that it had slowly worked in over the past four years.
Don’t get me wrong, however. As of this moment, the multiplayer Onward experience is exactly what I described in that first paragraph; tense, even terrifying at times, and bound to make you leap out of your skin— or at least out of your play area.
The mode that I’ve described above is Onward‘s bread and butter, Uplink, which pits two teams of five players against one another; one team defends an objective while the other team attempts to either kill each of the defenders or hack into the uplink by manually tapping in and setting off a seven-digit code right next to its access point. There are no respawns, maps are designed with several lanes and many open areas (and complementary vantage points), and it only takes one well-placed round to end an opponent’s life or vice versa. This is still as fantastic and gut-wrenching as it has ever been, regardless of whether you’re on a PC VR headset or an Oculus Quest, but thoroughly downgraded graphics and effects add a level of unbalance that I delve into further down below.

That’s not the only thing to see in Onward VR, which now boasts plenty of fun game modes and even a modding framework, which is something I’d wanted to see for a long time since Onward‘s original release. Social (read: casual) game modes include Spec Ops, a sort of cat-and-mouse between super speedy knife-wielding Volk and limited ammo-clutching MARSOC survivors, and classics like Gun Game and One in the Chamber, all of which are intense, well-balanced, and still very fun to play. And if you simply want to mess around with one of Onward‘s many extremely varied and unique weapons or tactical toys, there’s always the Shooting Range, which now features moving targets and a very cool multi-story killhouse-style practice course.
Speaking of Onward‘s weapons, the ‘gun feel’ has always been one of its strongest points. The rattle and simulated kickback of each weapon feels unique and personified, and adding to the fact that you need to literally operate and reload each weapon by hand with VR controls, there’s a satisfying learning curve associated with each weapon and tool. Even still, the PC version has experienced something of a backslide in its move from 1.7 to 1.8.
Dynamic lighting has been added with the new update, giving characters and weapons a more pronounced feel meanwhile stripping them of their subtlety in a way that doesn’t seem appropriate for the darker, bleaker visual tone that Onward was previously characterized by. It doesn’t help that night vision goggles haven’t quite caught up with this new system, making them extremely difficult to see through clearly when moving through certain night-time locations. Granted, weapons are still far punchier in the most recent PC version than in the Quest version, which features overly simplified graphics and sound effects to the point where its visuals and sounds convey something far closer to a VR-ified port of Nintendo 64’s GoldenEye 007 than a modern VR game.

Further, Quest players have an unfair advantage in some cases where areas of a map are better lit or less detailed at close-range on the Quest version— whereas PC players have an unfair advantage at long range overall— which gives Onward‘s crossplay multiplayer an asymmetric feel, and not in a good way. All of the maps now have issues with pop-in and objects appearing and/or disappearing at weird angles. It’s often too dark to clearly see the models of your own weapon and armor loadout in the lobby tent on the Quest version of Onward VR. This is all just completely jarring and weird, given how graphically tight things were even as recently as 1.7.
Multiplayer still works as well as it ever has, however, and it’s to the latest version’s benefit that thanks to crossplay I can now find tons of open online game matches at a single time, rather than the minuscule 10-20 that I had often found during peak hours before the update. I’m also pleased to note that there is finally an option to mute other players inside of the lobby tent, the location where you choose your loadout. There’s been word of some match-ending bugs here and there, but I’ve found nothing to jar me out of any online matches in a way that’s been noticeable. What has been noticeable, on the other hand, is the greatly reduced microphone sound quality. This is a huge issue in a multiplayer-focused game where clear communication is so important.

As usual, the single-player continues to be Onward‘s weakest point. Enemy AI is still as rough as ever, with enemies just rushing you in one congealed mass or magically auto-aiming at you from across the map, mowing you down before you can get your bearings. Weirdly enough, they’ve added the option to face off against 200 or so AI opponents at once, which is something I tried (and immediately regretted trying) after I learned that the AI is still as broken as it’s been for the past few years. Luckily, its single-player is certainly not the main attraction here.
Regardless of which mode you play in, Onward‘s control scheme has never been as customizable as it is right now. There’s still no teleport option or even any type of arm-swinger option for the squeamish, but I’ve waited literal years for the ability to finally set my controller movement to track the direction that my head is pointing. Of course, when in the Quest version, you can now simply turn in the direction you’d like to move in, which works and feels absolutely fantastic in practice. Playing on Quest without cables pinning me to a certain location or position in my room, an entirely new world of interaction opens up within this hyper-tactile, hyper-detailed mil-sim; giving way to moments like the one I described before, where I attempted to leap out of harm’s way.
In all, this new update feels like a clear move to make Onward more accessible to more players. It’s commendable, especially given that playing it without tethers adds a whole new dimension to gameplay, and also given that the influx of new players has clearly filled in Onward‘s online community. It’s just a shame that the experience has been watered down in other ways, introducing a new slew of problems that Downpour will inevitably need to fix— or risk alienating its most loyal contingent of fans.

Aaand another round, this time I don’t tag and I don’t have new questions, I just anwer :D

1.  what’s your favorite hobby? - This would be Fursuit building. If I had a dog big enough it would be Dryland mushing again. But I’ll pick that up again in the future.
2.  What’s the movie you hate more than anything? - Oh I don’t have one. If I don’t like a movie I just stop watching it, but if I have to choose something it would be the Twilight Saga. Just shitty stories, shitty actors, shitty vampires, shitty everything. And because it was a Twilight FF before also 50 shades of shit. Abusive behavior like that is never romantic and certainly it isn’t BDSM
3.  which would you rather be: Ninja or British Spy? And why? - Spy, cooler outfits and cars and certainly better payment :D
4.  What’s your favorite book of all time? - Uff hard one, I would say Dracula. THe first book I can remember reading. And yes, I was a weird kid. I read it in elementary school. I didn’t understand a lot of it back then, but I loved vampires. Of course I read it again a few years later.
5.  If you could go anywhere, whether it be a real or fictional location, where would you go? - A real and a fictional one, I would visit LA in the Lucifer Universe together with @antarctic-echoes so we could visit LUX and meet Lucifer himself...and NO hiding under tables. 
6.  Which would you rather fight?  An angry horse-sized duck or a hundred angry duck-sized horses? - tough one, I go with the horse duck, because I have my roommate to help me. BECAUSE DUCK!
7.  If you could have any dinosaur as a pet, which one would you have? - Velociraptor, BUT the Jurassic Park ones :D Yeah I know not realistic but way cooler
8. What is your favorite animated movie?- How to train your dragon

11.  If you could go to dinner with any fictional character, who would you choose and why? - Lucifer, because he is charming, he is a cinnamon roll and he certainly needs more friends, so I would befriend him over dinner

6.  You can see any three bands (alive or dead) - who do you see? - None, I’m not a big fan of Live concerts. Too many people, too many drunken idiots, too loud (yes!) too smelly, too everything. And I’ve already seen my favorite Bands. When I want to listen to music I can stay at home. And there I can skip shitty songs
7.  You invited five people to dinner (alive or dead) - who are they? - Tom Ellis (he has to cook by the way, I can cook but his food looks delicious), Lucifer, Alucard (Hellsing), The 10th Doctor, Tony Stark
8.  What’s your favorite genre to read (mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.)? - Fantasy
9.  What movie can you watch any time, regardless of how many times you’ve seen it? - I really don’t rewatch movies often. But I love Dogma. I’m more a TV show addict, so this would be Lucifer. Seen some episodes around 30 times and it’s  never boring.
10.  Can you cook? - Yes, and I love it
11.  You’re a superhero!  What can you do? - I can Fly, give me big, beautiful WIngs, preferable Lucifer’s Angel wings, or cool Dragon wings.

1) Ever had an imaginary friend and what was his/her/their name? - I had, but they were mostly fictional characters I loved from TV shows, like Goliath from Gargoyles.
2) Your favourite comic book as a child. - I had Lobo...yes. I was a spawn and I got to read Lobo. I was always weird
3) Your most absurd guilty pleasure snack? - Isit absurd when I say Nutella toast with banana slices?
4) You first childhood memory. - Myself after an operation, my shirt was stuck to the wound because I bled through the bandage. It was nothing serious.
5) The dream you managed to make true - Starting my body modification journey
6) And the one that you still have not achieved… - Earn enough money to not to worry over everything every month and without feeling guilty when I save long times for something just for me.
7) Which was the first tv series you fell in love with (bonus if you share the opening titles!) - Gargoyles 
8) What were you thinking during your last commute home? - Wheeeeeeee..well I just came from my appointment
9) The one object you cannot part with. - Two of my old childhood plushis. A bat my Grandfather gifted to me 25 years ago, it’s in my kitchen. And an old plush cat in my closet.
10) Favourite tea flavour. - Earl grey
11) That one thing you were always afraid to share with the world. If you want to just let me know… - I’m a pretty open book with everything, but one thing I kept for myself very long is, that I have a weak spot for fat dogs.
Last but not Least @lux-i-fer because I love your questions:
1.  What is the last thing you took a picture of? - Plushifer and the Christmas calendars.
2. Do you have your holiday decorations up yet (and if so what are they)? - We have the christmas calendars, and some Tinsel Girlands. Since it’s the first time for both of us to buy our own decorations, we need to do this. I’m looking forwars to my own christmas  tree.

4. What kind of jewelry do you usually wear? - On my right hand I wear a silver ring on my thumb and a black ring (or my Lucifer ring on special occasions) on my middle finger. I wear my dragon necklace permanently and a wolf head necklace, that will be switched with Amenadiel’s necklace when I bought it. Also all my earrings and piercings (all black)
5. LEAST favorite time period? - Uff that’s a tough one, I can’t answer because every time periode has good and bad things. 
6. Guilty pleasure song? - Leb deinen Traum 2.0 This is absolutely NOT my genre of music, normally I despise anything rap related. But this song got me through a very difficult time in my life. So I love it, and I hear it every time I feel down (and it’s based on the first german Digimon opening so yeah)
7. Do you prefer strings or brass? - strings
8. Were you a good kid or a bad kid in school? - both. I was bad in one school, changed it, my grades got really good without changing anything on my own.
9. What is your morning routine? - Cuddling the dogs in bed, getting up and into the bathroom, turning on my PC, breakfast while I’m reading new chapters of my stories, walking the dogs
10. Favorite article of clothing? - In general? Tight fitting waistcoats on tall and slender men. What I own? My Pusheen sweatpants...yes I (34, male) own and wear Pusheen sweatpants. THat fat cat is adorable
11. Are you superstitious? - A little
