it never ceases to grate me that the public perception of anxiety disorders is now so ass that when faced with someone being annoying or obnoxious online everyone's first impulse is to respond like "oh now the cant phone a restaurant crowd has shit to say" even if the obnoxious person in question has never once said any such thing about having phone anxiety. or any anxiety at all. the impulse to assume, with no evidence, that whoever youre pissed at today MUST be debilitatingly, clinically anxious, which of course explains how they are so annoying, and also makes them a hypocrite (which then allows you to smugly call attention to this hypocrisy, and everyone nods along, even though, and i cannot stress this enough, you invented the hypocrisy when you armchair diagnosed some rando). and then when u call it out people will argue that nooooo ofc they didnt mean anxiety disorder havers, they just meant someone who has the exact symptoms of anxiety. this person who i just made up isn't actually debilitated by their anxiety, they're just pretending it impacts them that badly for clout and sympathy, but i see through them, and i know based on their vibe that they'd be part of an online hate mob, which of course has a causal relationship to not being able to order a coffee (did i mention btw that not being able to order a coffee makes you a pathetic loser, and ofc being such a pathetic loser it's immediately obvious to everyone that you have whichever opinions im denigrating in our current online argument. obviously. because they're the pathetic loser opinions, and there's literally no better shorthand for 'pathetic loser' than describing a symptom of an anxiety disorder)... do you see it.

What do you think is the one thing adachi hates the most about the protagonist?

I mean, it’s quite clearly shown (even moreso in Golden and installments after that) that Adachi’s really frustrated with bancho with how he sees each other as one and the same, yet so different at the same time. Well, how they ended up differently despite working on similar foundation.

Let me get this straight, Adachi would not have hated bancho or cared at all about him if not for how they’re associated with one another. For bancho, it kind of sucks that someone is one sidedly beefing so hard with you, for the sole reason you ended up in a better place compared to that one guy. Adachi’s hatred and frustrations were all a matter of coincidence, which makes you feel bad for bancho when he does get this treatment from Adachi (albeit Adachi’s reasonable enough not to say it out loud, but his inner monologue teems with a sort of envy for this poor boy, and how it slips out in his actions and tone sometimes in a passive aggressive manner.)

Despite all that, Adachi still cares about bancho as a senior of sorts; a man who’s older. Bringing back the idea that he thinks of bancho as a different reflection of himself, Adachi just wants to set bancho on the right path, even if it means making Adachi himself look bad.

Adachi’s just been projecting on bancho the whole time. When we take the manga’s bancho, Souji, we can see more clearly how Souji was also much more similar to Adachi in some ways.

Souji distanced himself from others. This doesn’t stem from any digust from other people, but rather, he does it in consideration of the other party. He’s going to transfer out of schools soon, and he’s had experiences of disappointing people he made friends with because their bond couldn’t mature. Thus, Souji has grown an antisocial behavior to keep people at bay, at the expense of his own growth and happiness he could’ve had if he stayed with these people.

Adachi can see Souji’s growth from the fact they “grew up together”, in a sense. They both started living in Inaba at the same period of time, are associated with the same handful of people, and started off at the start of the same path (in a way).

Adachi’s older, clearly, so his beliefs and instincts have been honed and cemented in place, compared to someone as young as Souji.

Speaking of coincidences, Sdachi’s just sick of the same people’s treatment towards Souji compared to himself as time went on. Dojima might see Adachi as an incompetent subordinate, but still takes good care of and praises Souji. Nanako could’ve trusted Adachi more as a secondary responsible adult figure next to her dad, but she clings onto Souji more as he comes around.

Adachi was so lonely and dwelled on the more negative things in his life, rather than taking the time to think about how nice it is without the pessimism or even backhanded compliments he makes about Inaba. He doesn’t see or remember how Dojima also does care about him and praises him genuinely on the occassion, being clouded by all the yelling and hitting on the head. Adachi forgets Nanako was grateful for his help with her homework, and how he even does his best to cheer her up when looks down (especially when it’s his fault lol)

But with bancho, he’s just sick of him. He’s too busy putting a mirror frame inbetween them, self-projecting, and hating how well off bancho’s going on with his life.

“Why couldn’t that be me?” he could ask himself. He finds himself in twisted ecastacy in the accomplice ending, for the reason that he’s crashing down with bancho himself. Adachi can now see the boy rot the same way he did, and things will be as they’re supposed to be: They’re one and the same, after all.

All these things happening to bancho was because of his efforts to open himself up to people, and remember that he’s loved and does his best to reciprocate.

It’s unfortunate for Adachi because hes a whole decade older than bancho and we only see him getting a similar treatment, a chance to foster bonds and friendships, so much later. He can’t adapt to it as quickly as bancho did, because of the status of himself, and the status of the environment around him.

As such, Adachi’s character and place in the story well defines the themes of bonds overall. Humans are social creatures, it’s truly impossible to be alone. We see these two different outcomes in bancho and Adachi. If you let yourself open up and have the sun shine on your face, the world can seem brighter and you’ll be happier with people you love and who love you. Or, you can continue to hide in the dark and decay, to the point you’ve rotted so much you believe you can’t even go outside, despite all the hands that reach out to you you’re too scared to take. Thus, you shun them and hide deeper into the dark if anything else goes wrong.

Personally, growing up and maturing myself, you just feel bad for Adachi. Back then, i couldnt understand bancho’s immense well of patience and kindness and consideration for others, that he even included Adachi. Only to realize i was in Adachi’s place the whole time. To see a man so utterly depressed, and how he’s done nothing about it and just let himself get all moldy inside. But you have to cut him some slack, because there most likely weren’t any angels around him with that same well of patience and kindness as someone like bancho, someone he met much later in life.

And, how at the time, consultation and/or medication at the time was stigmatized—and the state of the time he was born and grew up in.

im not sure if it’s an honor to say that god chose him to be its prophet and usher in the New World. To see him as an avatar or representative of the people that feel the same, or understand the fact that a majority of the people of Inaba share a collective belief in this manner.

HELLO BLUE!!!! i am very happy to talk about the beautiful dynamic of jay & celia that i made up :)

in my brain, jay & celia’s friendship mostly builds over the summer in evie’s house like you said!!! imo they are veryyy similar — wily, tricky, opinionated, AND they are both some of the only (main canon) vks with dads!!! whilst imo celia’s relationship with facilier is better than jay’s with jafar, they’re both obviously Isle Kids & also help run their fathers’ businesses, so there’s definitely a lot of similarities between them

they don’t really interact with each other much on the isle. they know of each other, obviously, and i think they’d have some mutual respect for each other. jay is impressed by celia’s scamming prowess; celia admires jay’s pickpocketing ease.

and then d3 happens, and the barrier comes down, and it’s summer. this means Events. balls, soirées, receptions, formal dinners etc etc. celia is a kid!!! an isle kid!!! she hates this shit!!! she doesn’t dream of being a princess like dizzy; she isn’t shy & looked over like the twins. she is restless, and uncomfortable, and irritated. she loves to dress up, sure, but she’s not even allowed to scam people!!!

jay recognises this like his reflection in the mirror. the itching hands; the glances to the door. and although jay finds fun in charming & flirting with unsuspecting royalty, celia, being younger, doesn't have anyone her age to mess with, and all the adults either treat her like a nuisance or a pet

and jay knows they're meant to be good now. but he knows 'good' is subjective. and he also knows that in this instance, being 'good' means instigating mischief with celia before she snaps.

it's discreet, of course. bets on how long it'll take for a snobby prince to mention his castle and wealth; who can ask evie for the most items from her purse before she becomes suspicious; sneaking a plate of hors d'oeuvres into their various pockets and eating it outside to get away. or seeing who can throw one the furthest across the lake

sometimes, they're able to wiggle their ways out of an event, and they hang out at evie's for the night. celia picks a film, but it usually devolves into jay trying to catch popcorn in his mouth and then celia pelting him with the stuff. jay teaches her some tourney stuff. she shows him some basic card tricks. they bond over their shared slight of hand; exchange techniques and tips.

i just really think jay & celia's friendship was a missed opportunity in d3. they can both be quite standoffish, but they high-five!!! they celebrate things together!!!! plus i think celia being disappointed/angry at mal's betrayal vs jay being instantly forgiving would've been sooo delicious to explore. young girl who finally has a chance at life and trusts the people giving her that chance, only to be betrayed vs Most Loyal Guy Ever. celia looking up to jay but just not being able to understand why he's so ok with mal lying to them. jay just being like it's mal..... ANYWAYY this is not a jal post. apologies

basically, yeah -- mentor/mentee type dynamic would've been so cool to see. especially for jay's chatacter development!!! bc my guy was so sidelined in d3. not only has he learned the importance of working as a team, he's willing to expand said team & trust and rely on other people. crazy. and celia would've maybe been able to show some more vulnerability/dimension -- maybe they have a Dad Chat or she's worried abt how they're going to treat her at school. maybe jay sees her as somewhat of a younger self -- feisty, arrogant, slick and wily, but also scared to death and disguising it so well it's hard to stop pretending. god we could've had it all if mr mouse didn't hate side characters & characters of colour & basically any relationship/dynamic that wasn't heterosexual romance!!!!! what the hell!!!!

anyway this basically turned into a huge rant but i hope this somewhat answers your ask HAHAHA

Anytime I start liking the writing in oots I remember instead of having the dark forest actually plan something out to actually destroy the clans and not killing their apprentices they wait til the last minute to show them going over their plans and dovewing using her powers to hear the dark forest as a last ditch effort when asked by clan leaders

Literally a good bit of the dark forest trainees has no distinguishable motivation for being there can they tone the bloodshed -down- during a training session where they are leaping off tree branch because minnowtail won the tree climbing test ivypool jumps down then is about to get their throat clawed out by dead antpelt who cares where are the character interactions

look i love and support the classics nerd jason headcanon as much as the next person but i know deep in my heart that rather than being a “i worship the ground austen walks on” classics nerd he’d 100% be a fitzgerald/hemingway snob
