👾 he thinks it’s really fun how you’re into cosplaying! In fact, he’ll sometimes do it with you. either it’s him helping you take photos or he’ll let you test out makeup on him. he won’t take it seriously tho LMAO he’ll hog all your wigs and intentionally take your makeup (putting it on wrong)

👾 you guys have that similarity on liking cute things but also dark and twisted things—the duality 😫 he thinks it’s funny how you can switch between the two without any phase 😭 as for dislikes, he won’t ever yell at you so don’t worry. this man really doesn’t like raising his voice, even when rarely getting arguments.

👾 he has no problem being clingy so you won’t ever be deprived of physical touch. either he’ll always have his arm around your shoulders pulling you close, or he’ll have his whole body on top of you without letting you breathe—there’s no in between 🥰 he doesn’t have a problem with talking either—he could listen to you talk for hours, nothing you say ever seems boring to him.

👾 as for dates, the regular would be staying home or going some place secluded with only the two do you. he doesn’t like being around others unless it’s with you (that’s also another similarity between the two of y’all)

Okay but you're like so damn cute getting all dressed up every day he of course wants to show you off. His co-workers are all gathered for an urgent meeting by Chuuya himself and he has you walk in.

"This is my lovely princess. I figured I'd let you all know her beautiful face if anything were to harm her, I need all of you to keep her safe. But I'll likely be around her no matter what." You blush was apparent as he holds your hand in a loving manner.

When he's not around and tending to his executive work you go about taking care of his co-workers. When you see there's a mess you clean it up or see a struggling intern you guide them around headquarters.

"You must be new! I'm Chuuya's girlfriend. Don't worry I know this place like the back of my hand." You were so soft and kind to the mafia members that it made them want to work extra hard.

Even Mori thought you were such a delight to have around. He liked younger girls so you weren't really his type. Plus, Chuuya would be enraged and he couldn't lose another executive.

Dazai Osamu

The moment he asked you out was when he introduced you to everyone at the agency. So everyone had gotten familiar with you fast over time. "Everyone!! I have an important announcement~" He would declare with absolute joy in his eyes as he walked in with your hand intertwined in his.

They were all stunned that Dazai even could manage to have a girlfriend let alone such a pretty lady. Your Lolita style was so precious and pure looking. When you met a sweet little girl dressed in a traditional Japanese attire you wanted to dress her up in all sorts of frilly dresses.

"Ah you would look so adorable in this!! Ooh~ these bows are so cute in your hair!" It was like when the young girl was accepted into the agency all over again. Everyone had their attention on the two of you playing dress up.

Dazai didn't mind seeing you get so much love from his co-workers but when he sees you start acting all affectionate back is when he gets a bit jealous.

"Hey hey! I want all of your attention on me~" He would whine while you were braiding Naomi's hair. "In a minute babe! I'm fixing up Naomi's hair. Doesn't she look pretty?" Dazai would pout but you continued to share your love with his co-workers.

I just saw your post about PJ and I'm wondering, do you have any book recs?

On mythology specifically or overall? I’m gonna do both since I’m not sure. Also sorry for the relatively late reply, I had to think about this, and I just got back from dinner.

The Count of Monte Cristo- Fantastic page turner, and a genuinely good “revenge” tale. It’s actually one of the first of that kind (or at the very least, one of the most popular ones). It’s also a book that a lot of people cite as the one that changes their mind on classics as “boring.”

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn- Somewhat of a controversial pick (both because of its subject matter and because it’s often “required high school reading,” ie “boring” to a lot of people.)

Huck Finn is an exceedingly complex character, and his friendship with Jim is really good. Pay attention to what Huck Finn does and says; he’s an unreliable narrator due to how he was brought up, his age, and his illiteracy. There’s also a lot of symbolism and other literary devices at play in his character (ex. notice his fixation with death and how it colors how Twain writes him). It’s very much a book I recommend if you want to study the unreliable narrator as a trope, the  Naïf version of it.

As a side note, it’s very poignant because of how Huck learns to condemn his racism. One of the messages you can get from this book is “If this uneducated poor white boy can learn to overcome his prejudices, so too can someone who has been educated, has money, etc.” It is a brutal condemnation of racism (though you do have to consider the time period, the “lens” of which you have to view through.)

Lolita- Another controversial pick, and one I’ll upright say as a lot of trigger warnings attached (google the summary, and you’ll see what I mean).

Beautiful prose (some of my favorite in literature actually) and a monster of a protagonist. When you read this, remember how Humbert Humbert is framing it. He is telling his tale to a court; he is unreliable and will frame events to make himself appear sympathetic. One notable factor of the author’s skill is how often Humbert gains the readers’ sympathy despite the atrocious subject matter. I personally felt viscerally uncomfortable reading his thoughts, and this is one of the few books that has ever made me feel that way. I didn’t fall into the sympathy trap, but look at any discussion of the book, and you’ll see what I mean.

I also recommend this author’s (Vladimir Nabokov) other works.

Franz Kafka’s literary works- Kafka is one of my favorite authors because he really showcases the isolation (both due to WWI, technological advancement, and the “beginnings” of modern capitalism) of the beginning of the 1900s, and he’s one of modernism’s premier authors. His works often deal with the themes of isolation, judgement, and outcasts. 

In particular, I’m fond of “The Metamorphosis” (cliche pick I know) and “In the Penal Colony.” The former is a short story so quick read if you just wanna try his writing style + it’s very influential (See Part 1 of Tokyo Ghoul for one example).

Also know that Kafka had a very strained relationship with his father and a conflicted relationship with his religion. I recommend reading “Letter to his Father” first to get an understanding of Kafka’s psyche to truly get pass the “nonsensical” nature of his works. It, like the title says, is a letter he wrote to his father, but his mother never delivered it.

If you want even more info on Kafka to understand his works, I recommend Kafka: Judaism, Politics, and Literature which covers a lot more (and in more succinct words) than I can on his works and life. As a fun fact, Vladimir Nabokov also placed him as one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. On Kafka himself, he thought he was a failure of a human being and writer, and now look at him. He’s up there in the Western Canon with Shakespeare.

Paradise Lost + Paradise Regained- If you’re interested in Lucifer (or Samael if you subscribe to that theory), this is a must-read. Beautiful, haunting, and with a very charismatic figure in Lucifer. Alongside the obvious Divine Comedy, this work has influenced the portrayal of Lucifer and Hell quite a bit imo. Namely, the “sympathetic” portrayal you find in works such as Supernatural. It’s also an epic poem so it’s best listened to imo rather than read.

No Longer Human- Osamu Dazai’s work if you’re into that one show. An incredibly depressing book that’s often thought to be semi-autobiographical. It’s a haunting book that I don’t recommend for prose, but for the mood it evokes. I don’t recommend this unless you’re in a decent state of mind.

The Catcher in the Rye- Mildly controversial pick in that you either hate Holden or love him. It’s a book where you have to be in the “right” state of mind to appreciate Holden. For example, the period of moving away from home for college  This work deals with societal isolation and human loneliness and features an unreliable narrator.

It’s just a very particular feeling you have to be experiencing to appreciate Holden. I think anyway.

The Epic of Gilgamesh- Not super fancy or a reinterpretation of whatever. Just the oldest known written work of mankind. I like it a lot, but I like Sumerian myth so YMMV. It’s still missing a few tablets last I checked, but still a good read.

Also the related Enuma Elish, you get the creation myth.

Vampire Chronicles- I recommend the first three or four so books honestly. Afterwards, Anne Rice just goes off the rails. Prose is pretty, and Lestat is a terrible person but fascinating to read about. I am partial to Armand though tbh.

Dracula- I think this is another page-turner. I certainly enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s as scary as it would be in its’ published time period, but it is a classic Gothic horror. The unabridged version may look intimidating, but like Monte Cristo, you’ll sweep through it rather quickly.

“A Rose for Emily”- One of William Faulkner’s short stories. I think it’s a lovely piece and showcases the Southern Gothic (crumbling house, decaying and failing tradition and the southern nobility, etc.) There’s a theme of decay and time passing throughout this work.

As a side note, I actually enjoy Faulkner a lot, but he’s a difficult author imo. It’s not as apparent in this work, but more so in Intruder in the Dust (the first racial thriller) and especially The Sound and The Fury.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof- A play that deals with repressed homosexuality (maybe, it depends on how you interpret Brick’s dialogue and actions), loss, and denial. I quite like it a lot, and Tennessee Williams actually was gay (was because he’s dead and all). I read it, but tbh I feel like it would be better watched if you can find a performance on Youtube.

The Picture of Dorian Gray- Oscar Wilde’s most well known work imo. I enjoy the prose and the themes of corruption and indulgence present throughout the novel. There’s also a lot of allusions to Faust in it if you’re interested in that.

Peter Darling-a more modern choice but it features a trans and gay protagonist. Part of what I enjoy is how it’s not browbeaten into you that the protagonist is trans. It’s interwoven into the character where it’s an important part of him, but to where it doesn’t overwhelm his entire character. However, this is a novel where I feel the beginning and ending are great, but the middle is so-so. It’s a retelling of Peter Pan.

The Tain- Focuses on Cu Cuchulain and his cycle.

Poetic Edda- A must read if you’re interested in exploring Norse myths outside of Marvel. It’s basically a collection of tales.

Arabian Nights- Scheherazade is one of my favorite female figures from literature. She’s daring, clever, and particularly resourceful. It’s a frame narrative sort of tale so you technically won’t be seeing her as much since she’s telling each story, but it’s a lovely piece and perfect for a bedtime read because of its collection of tales. A lot of them have been referenced in media and related as well.

The Book Thief- Classic YA novel rec. It’s set in WWII and one of the novels that really showcases what YA could be. Basically a classic gem in the rough pile.

John Keats- He’s a poet, but I love his poetry because of how haunting and dark it can get; he often deals with themes of mortality.. Ode to Nightingale is particularly good.

China’s Four Great Classical Novels (Journey to the West, Dreams of the Red Chamber, Water Margin, Romance of the Three Kingdoms)- I decided to clump them here since this is already super long. Each one is incredibly well-known in Asia (and obviously China), and you can find allusions everywhere to these four novels. Each novel is rather long and expensive though (I paid like 40 USD for each set). Journey to the West follows Sun Wukong, unarguably one of the most well-known figures in literature (at least in the East; he’s super influential, but somewhat less so in the West; keyword somewhat). Dreams of the Red Chamber has some very pretty poems, but it’s often thought to be the semi autobiographical work of the author (it deals with the rise and fall of his family and the dynasty).

Daiyu’s flower poem is one of the most memorable for example.

The blossoms fade, the blossoms fly,  the blossoms fill the sky. Their crimson fades, their scent dies out,  and who is there to pity?  Drifting threads gently twist together  and float past the springtime lodge;  Falling willow floss lightly sticks  and strikes the lady’s window drapes.

Water Margin is a bit “bawdier” than the other ones imo, but it’s a good tale and has many notable figures and scenes. On Three Kingdoms, it’s the one I’d recommend to start with if you’re interested in military intrigue and battles.

Alright... I have wanted to post this for so long but never got around to actually do it... X,D

That flower is the third flower I made... it took me three times to get it right... and yes... that wig is supposed to be my Chuuya wig... It was my first time styling a wig, I need to try again... but It’s good enough for being the first time trying X,D Three of the clothes in the background are for three different Chuuya cosplays. Two of them are my own design while you can see Chuuya’s black coat behind the red jacket... The other black thing is my lolita dress I bought years ago X,D

Anyway... back to the flower X,D It’s something I made from a short story I wrote and uploaded some time ago (I put the whole thing under a ‘keep reading’ thingy if you don’t feel like looking for it ;3) It looks a bit different from how I described it. But that’s only because I wrote the story first before I decided to make it. I like it a lot. I wanna get a longhaired Chuuya wig and make a fitting kimono... but I don’t have the money for that... X,D That’s enough of me rambling. If you want more, just ask me and I shall try to answer the best I can X,3

He chuckled for himself as he found himself sitting at the temple’s veranda another cloud-free night. Dazai couldn’t help it. He had always enjoyed watching the stars. The hazel brown gaze turned down and stared into the sake in his small cup. Beside him stood a bottle filled with sake and an untouched sake cup. Once he was simply a fox who liked watching the stars. Now… now he was a lonely fox who liked watching the stars. The brunet raised his cup to the clear dark sky with a pained smile on his lips.

“Such a cruel fate…”

Others may call gods untouchable. But they were just as fragile as humans. After all… without any believers who left prayers every day… they faded into nothing. Not even leaving their memory behind. The hazel brown eyes glanced at the untouched sake cup and the hair accessory a certain god always had attached to their obi. It was a beautiful comb. A red gigantic Camellia with yellow stones in the middle. Golden chains hung from the flower with crystallized drops at the end. Something given to Dazai before the one that had taken care of him disappeared. The powerful fox let out a low shaky sigh as he looked back up towards the sky. Tears gathering in his tired gaze.

“How can you love this world… Arahabaki?…”

A Surprise for today’s Dinner

So I started to write the ninth chapter of my SKK HS AU fic and got distracted with a headcanon (over 500 words) and then I had the sudden urge to write this ;; (Priorities set right :’))

It’s based on the prompt I sent to @3rdgymbros and with the tags, I had this idea and I didn’t really plan on writing it because my to-write-list is huge ass long but yeah. You can see and read what has happened under the cut c:

Titel:  A Surprise for today’s Dinner Words: 629 Characters: Chuuya, Dazai, Kunikida, Aya Pairing: Soukoku Genre: Fluff

Summary: Friday evening, Chuuya cooks dinner while Dazai plays memory with their little daughter Aya. Everything is like always until the doorbell rings. 

It was Friday. The weather put a rather depressing mood over the whole town and it was hard to pass time by only staying inside. It was raining for two weeks straight and usually, no one would leave the house if it was not really necessary to do so.

“Can you-” But before Chuuya could word his request to his freshly engaged partner, he got interrupted by the ring of their doorbell. Chuuya turned off the hotplate and looked at the clock. Their guest was on time like he had expected from him.

Hearing the loud doorbell, Aya flinched in Dazai’s arms and looked confused at her daddy. They were playing memory on the kitchen table and while Dazai had only two pairs, Aya was in the lead with four card pairs. “Who is that?”, Aya asked and stood on Dazai’s lap to look at her other daddie behind him. 

Smirking happily, Chuuya just shrugged his shoulders. “Who knows?” He cleaned his hands on a dishtowel. “Go, open the door, honey.”

Dazai and Aya were both were getting up from the wooden bank they were sitting on and Chuuya chuckled amusedly. “I was talking with Aya.” 

The little girl's eyes sparkled when she ran to the door and she tried to open it with both of her small hands but it was locked. "Mama!”, she called out and ran back into the kitchen. “It’s locked. Help me with the keys!” She clung to Chuuya’s leg and looked up to him while Dazai couldn’t suppress a laughter about her choice of word. Of course, the board was too high for her to reach so Chuuya grabbed the key for the door and gave it to his little spitting image.

“Waaaaah~!” 

Dazai and Chuuya looked at each other when they heard Aya’s happy scream. So obviously, the surprise was a complete success. 

While both of them were preparing the table for dinner, a young man entered the kitchen with their little daughter in his arms. “Good evening,” he greeted Aya’s parents and they greeted him back. 

“I’m glad you could make it, Kunikida.” Dazai wanted to take his daughter from Kunikida but she clung to him and didn’t let go. 

“Nooo! I want to cuddle with uncle Kunikida!”, she cried and was clinging even more to him. “He is mine! He promised to marry me!” 

The spatula in Chuuya’s hand fell on the ground and Dazai just looked shocked at the duo right in front of him. “I didn’t know you had a lolita complex.” Of course, this was meant to be a joke but Dazai sounded way too serious to let it be a joke. 

“Don’t worry,” Kunikida waved it off. “We just played father-mother-child in the agency yesterday.” He stroked through the soft hair of Aya and put her down on the floor. “But I’m grateful for the invitation to dinner.” 

Chuuya grabbed the spatula. “Yeah, Aya tells a lot of stories about when she’s with you.” He showed Kunikida the place where he could sit down for the dinner and only a second later, Aya was sitting next to her uncle. 

Kunikida adjusted his glasses and looked at the paper box of the memory game. It was the first present he gave her when she first visited the agency for getting babysitted by them. 

Dazai noticed the look. “She loves to play but she always complains that it’s most fun with you.” He put an arm around Chuuya’s waist and got slightly closer to him. “Maybe it’s because my attention always slips away.” Slightly poking into Chuuya’s side, he let him flinch. 

Chuuya boxed his elbow in Dazai’s side as a revenge and made a small movement with his head that Kunikida should start taking the food. 

“Itadakimasu!”

1. What is the favourite item of clothing you own?

Probably my pair of lolita shoes. They’re so pretty.

2. Tell me about the first time you watched your favourite movie?

When I watched Kimi No Na Wa I expected some funny romance movie. But it honestly sent me on a journey and I think I felt every emotion a person could possibly feel. And The Handmaiden was love at the first sight. I didn’t know such a perfect movie could exist.

3. What was the last book you finished?

I actually don’t remember the last book I finished, since I’ve been stuck with Akutagawa’s short stories so long. 

4. What is the next book you want to read?

Definitely Osamu Dazai’s No Longer Human! I’ve been looking forward to that for a long time now.

5. When is your birthday, and what do you want for it this year?

My birthday is on the 26th June and I wish that Jassi and I can go to a BTS concert someday and that Tree has a good flight when she comes to visit me.

6. If you were given one month and $10,000, where would you travel to?

I’d wait for BTS’ next album to be released and travel to South Korea. :)))) Since I have $10k I could buy tons of albums and go to a fansign. 

7. Cake or pie?

I... I really love both... omg... I don’t know how to choose... maybe pie?

8. Name 3 things you think you’re really good at.

Hrmm... perhaps... listening, giving advice, wasting my time...

9. Name 3 things you’d like to be better at.

Verbal communication, dancing, giffing.

10. Name 3 far-fetched dreams you’d like to do someday.

Seeing the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, being fluent in a third language & probably studying psychology.

11. If you had to dye your hair, what colour would you dye it?

I always dye my hair blonde, but pastel pink would be something I’d try if I had to dye my hair a different color.
