Chiho Saito's Illustration Collection artbook is the highest-quality visual media in the Utenaverse. Oversized, single-sided, heavy pages with extremely high quality printing. It is the first artbook I ever scanned.
Tumblr media
In 2001, the average screen resolution was 800x600, and I delivered a 1250px wide collection that for a while, took $60 A MONTH to host, because no normal website was hosting images of this ludicrous size. It took my scanner almost an hour to capture a third of each page. I spent months piecing the scans together in Photoshop. It was one of my first true Utena labors of love, and the result is that for decades, these copies have been the definitive copies of Chiho Saito's artwork on the internet. For a very long time, even kinda now, if you see these images, they're probably my scans.
But decades have passed, and I've never been happy with these results, because they couldn't capture the fine details, the paint spills, the sketch beneath poking out, the brilliant use of gradients of dark color to pop the image but drive me insane. What I am finishing up now is a true, archival copy of the artbook. One that delivers such high resolution, that these can print posters larger than the originals, and thanks to some truly brilliant descreening tech, (Thank you Sattva) I've been able to dig up fine details in the work that the printing obscured, but undeniably included.
It's been over 20 years, and it shows. 1250px? Nah, my archive copies are 15,000px wide. I can't wait to finish this and share it with the world. <3

every since i made her there's nothing i love drawing more in the world rn than kane's little mascot form
some deeper details about her under the cut v
Originally a humble and modest rotary phone saleslady with a squeaky clean criminal record in North Jersey, Alexis June Kane's silver tongue, boisterous-yet-charming public image, and overly-competitive spirit made her almost a seamless fit in the cutthroat business environment of Rapture. Noticing a fresh and underutilized slate in the television market, she immediately jumped on the opportunity in order to become one of the biggest faces on Rapture's televised programming.
The gameshow Kane runs is called All or Nothing: A high-stakes trivia game where 5 people answer questions correctly for money, but for each question you get right, you get the option to either leave with your current winnings or gamble to either keep playing for the big prize or lose it all and go home with nothing but the clothes on your back.
Like most companies in Rapture, it's completely bullshit: Kane is no stranger to bought-out wins, exorbitant fees to pocket winners' money, prizes that are shittier in quality than promised, etc. Hell, it even starts becoming another propaganda tool once Ryan starts getting stricter. But who cares? So long as Rapture's economy keeps going at a downward spiral, there will always be some desperate sob willing to risk their paycheck when the grand prize is a free warm meal! It even lets her in on her favorite hobby: punching down!
Outside of the show, she's a socialite who loves to go out to parties, has the alcohol tolerance of an elephant, and is currently banned from all casinos in Fort Frolic. Despite that though, she can't really say she has many friends (or any at all), but who needs people who will just drag her down anyway? All she needs is the show and the fat stacks it rakes in! More time to sit in her room waiting for the phone to ring again. And beg for forgiveness when she picks it up.

hiii this is my first ever request so i'm nervous but 😅 I had this idea (i'm delulu) of the reader going to one of badas classes and she joins the reader in the choreo when it's time to perform and their relationship kinda forms from there 🩵
It's okay babes I'm delulu too, your idea is so good! It was so fun writing it! Do send more requests if you want to;)

Bada Lee x Student!Reader:
— in which Bada joins her student that she secretly adores on the choreography she had made.
Really short!
notes: any characters in this fiction is not mine, this is made purely for entertainment.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were nervous, this was your first time being a part of your teacher's film. Usually you would just be on the sidelines watching other people in your class dance to their hearts content to appeal the viewers behind the film, well also their teacher.
Bada Lee, a famous choreographer in south Korea who had choreographed for multiple artist such as Kai from Exo, NCT, Aespa and etc. Known for being a very good dancer, a vibe that attracts men and women alike and for her duality that seemed to always surprise people outside from her circle.
She intimidated you, but you also can't help but feel attracted to her. It was the 'Bada Effect' or so they say and you certainly agree with that.
So now here you are standing in the middle of the studio waiting for Bada to finish testing the speakers. Your hands were sweating so much you kept wiping your palms on your black trouser. You have to perfect this, for the spectators...for Bada.
And so, the music started and your body immediately moved to the beat. Every step was on beat, it was like you were water, fluid on every movements. The places where you need more impact, you gave it so popping to make the quality even higher. It looked like you were the one who made the choreography, not your teacher.
Bada can't help but just stare at you as you danced like it was the last thing you do. This was one of the reasons why she chose you to dance for one of her videos, your quality was out of this world, she even wondered why you were still taking her classes. But it was also exactly why she adored you and exactly why it took her this long to show you off to other people without you knowing.
With your aura, it will just be a matter of time before you become famous like her. Which is why she doesn't put you in her videos til now because if you had all the attention, how will she get yours?
One of the reasons why Bada also chose you was because she originally made the choreo for a duo, so guess what she's going for there. Yes...
Everyone in the studio cheered loudly as Bada suddenly went behind you, arms were wrapped around you before swiftly moving to your left. The image looked like a lover wanting to wrap their arms around their significant other but was pulled away. It made everyone yell in surprise as suddenly the dance made sense now.
You on the other hand was focused on the dance that even when Bada joined you, you were in the zone and didn't even flinch. It was like both of you planned it but it wasn't.
Both your bodies in sync and was so closely each other it looked so intimate, the tension was so high as both of you grinded to the rhythm. This should not be done in the studio was what the other's were thinking.
It wasn't until the song ended that you finally snapped out of it and covered your mouth in shock the moment your eyes locked with your teacher.
When did she get here?!
Bada only smiled and chuckled in amusement of your expression, slightly taken aback as you didn't even notice her. You were dancing with so much effort and focus it looked cute in her eyes. The fact that it was her choreography that made you like this...
"That was good, love. Maybe we should do it again next time." Bada said to you making you blush profusely as she winked and clapped her hands to get her other students' attention while you just stood there processing.
I got to watch that video when it uploads!

A Daddy
John "Soap" MacTavish x Poc Fem! Reader During a meeting, Ghost realizes Soap is missing. He goes looking for him and see's him having a facetime call on a computer with a beautiful woman and a newborn baby on the other side of the screen.
Notes: Ngl to yall. I think this one isn't my best but imma still post it cause I want to. Hope it isn't that bad of a read, suggestions are welcomed anytime!!
Tumblr media
"We're missing someone, aren't we? He's usually the first one here to these meetings." Gaz sat in the chair furthest from the front but directly next to Price. He wasn't that worried since neither Price nor Laswell was concerned about the missing scot, but he was curious as to where he could be.
Someone who was more curious about where the Mohawk was was Ghost. Although he'd rather die than ever utter this out loud, Soap's gruffly accent is what he looks forward to in the mornings. It lets him know that he's made it to another day and somewhat grounds him and keeps him in tune with reality when (although it's rare) he feels himself slipping. So seeing him missing was the first thing he noticed when he was the last to walk into the room and Laswell immediately started talking.
"He's been excused for the time being. He can be filled in by Price later when he's finished with his business." Laswell continued with the information she had after clearing the air about the missing Sargeant. Ghost didn't dwell on it any longer and paid attention to the meeting until it finished 30 minutes later.
After being dismissed, they all went their separate ways doing god knows what. Ghost had set off to stroll around making sure he had nothing else to do before he retired to his room to go over the files he and the rest were given in the meeting.
Simon wasn't one to wander the base. Not that he hadn't engraved every part of it into his memory out of instinct, but, he wasn't one to explore unless necessary. His small walk turned into him mindlessly looking for his Scottish partner in crime, and while it is out of character for him to be so curious as to where Soap was, he couldn't help but look.
Ghost eventually walked past a conference room and he knew from the room number he was getting close to the visitation room. That room was for family calls or special access visitations from family members if you had high enough clearance. As he was walking, he heard the missing man's ruff Scottish voice cooing in some sort of baby talk. Ghost walked up to the open room door silently and stood there seeing Soap sitting in front of a laptop cooing softly at it, he tilted his head to see what had him that way. A dog maybe?
'That sounds like something Johnny would do.'
When Ghost tilted his head, he was surprised to see a newborn baby and a beautiful woman with dark skin on the other side of the screen. A big, tired smile was on the woman's face as she held the baby in her arm. Soap leaned his head on his folded arms on the table with the softest look ghost had ever seen. His eyes held such love and devotion that if she were in front of him he'd be worshiping her from head to toe.
"I see someone is excited to be a daddy. You know he looks just like you if you squint. He's the spitting image of you John it's crazy" The pretty lady on the other side of the screen lightly giggled at the end of her sentence, her accent sounding foreign. A chuckle soon came from Soap's lips as he stared at his newborn son in his lover's arms.
"If anything he looks more like you to me. Well either that or it's the laptop's shitty ass quality and he really does look like me." There was a pause before he sighed heavily. "I can't wait to see you, baby, you and little Bailey" Soap's voice held a sadness Ghost hadn't heard before. It was like he was a different man completely. Not that Soap wasn't an expressive man, quite the opposite actually, but, he only ever showed anger, cheekiness, joy, and other neutral emotions. Never quite showing complete sadness and happiness.
Ghost felt that he was invading something private by listening and watching. Something intimate and special it almost flustered him, so he turned from the door frame and started walking ahead, only for his name to be called by the man he just left in the room. He turned to see Soap by the door waving him over to come back. It looks like the woman on the screen saw Ghost and mentioned it to him. Now that he was back, Soap tugged Ghost back into the room with a broad smile. He was gonna be able to show his beloved his best mate on the force and he was ecstatic.
"Darlin, This is Ghost, he's a part of my team. He's the scary brute around here scaring the new recruits" A gruff exhale came from the said man. He was being introduced to someone without his consent but then again, it was his fault for seeking out the Scot in the first place.
Ghost stared into the screen at the curious woman. He had to say she was quite stunning. Dark skin, frizzy hair (he's guessing from the baby in her arms, the messy hair is from childbirth), and small eyebags that showed her fatigue just a bit. His eyes zoomed in on the tiny baby laying in the woman's arms. They had blue eyes and their facial features for a newborn looked scarily identical to their father's.
"The champ looks like me, aye? She says he does and I believe it. The MacTavish genes in me run strong." Soap bosted proudly with a grin seeing his sweetheart smile at his words. Ghost nodded and looked at Soap with Amusement but something he couldn't explain. Simon felt joy for Soap. As chipper as the Scot was, there were times he'd see him at his lowest, like he was ready to rid of it all, to take the coward's way out. Alas, he would always bounce back in the next few hours to bug the hell out of ghost and talk his ear off but he knew how the lass would. Soap having another bundle of joy to keep him grounded and to keep him motivated to stay alive was something Ghost was happy about.
Soon, it was time for Soap's lover to go. She was tired evidently so Soap said his I love you's and his goodbye's solemnly and the call ended. Soap sighed and stood up, walking out of the room, toe-in-toe with Ghost, walking the hall, and heading back to the barracks.
"You know, I didn't think you would have a lover much less a child. From your bad jokes, I assumed your pickup lines were just as bad." An offended gasp came from Soap's mouth upon hearing the Brit's words.
"I'll have you know she loves my pickup lines thank you. They're part of my charm she says." Ghost could hear the adoring tone of his voice at the end. He really loved his girlfriend and vowed hed marry her soon as he is able to leave. Ghost chuckled and they walked in comfortable silence.
Soap became a daddy that day, and Ghost was happy for him.

ask you anything more like tell me ANYHTING YOU WANT ABOUT ALEX!!! romanced him the first time i played and he is the only man to exist (alongside elliott)
general alex headcanons
big headed men with an even bigger heart deserve some headcanons too <3
warnings: mentions of abusive fathers (verbal), physical and emotional self-neglect, mention of mother's death. poor boy :(
requested by: anon, thank you so much for the request! im sorry this took so long, my brain is genuinely fried, a lot is going on. it's a doozy. i hope you enjoy the request though, and i hope that it's worth the wait!! love alex, he deserves so much more hype fr <3
Tumblr media
• Alex's music taste is pretty diverse, there are two sides to it. Sometimes he wants an upbeat vibe, in which he listens to Bleachers, Wallows, Cavetown, Bruno Mars, and Dayglow. Summer, driving down empty roads at night kinda vibes. Enjoying life. The other side is The Neighborhood, Glass Animals, and Ricky Montgomery. He hides it that side of his music taste and denies listening to 'depressing' music. Music is the only way he expresses this sort of stuff, but it's only in private.
• His love language is giving physical touch and receiving quality time with a touch of words of affirmation. The way he shows his affection is with simple touches, like small hands squeezes and back rubs. Days when you're exhausted after a long day, expect to be pampered by simple touches, because Alex is happy to provide. The only thing he needs is time with you, he just wants to have fun experiences with you that he can look back on. That sprinkled with soft affirmations that he's doing well, you've got him wrapped around your finger.
• He is not very picky at all when it comes to gifts, he has things he favors over others, but there is a high chance he will love what you give him. He also really cherishes things, he hates to admit it but he is a sentimental person. He commissioned Robin to build him a wooden box to put all of the gifts you've given him in it, he keeps it hidden under his bed but it's pulled out very often. He keeps certain mementos of you out around his room though, and always keeps at least one thing in this pocket.
• Gridball has been one of his interests since he was a kid. Watching it while sitting in his mother's lap as a child always helped him calm down. Although, his father did taint his image of the sport. He always said things like "Why can't you be like that?" It then began to dwell on his mind a lot, he could be like that if he really wanted to. He was hyperfocused on it, causing him to neglect things. School, his health, his relationships with his friends. He's beginning to get better about it, though. His mental and physical well-being is important, too, and he's beginning to let that set in.
• One of his weekly rituals is every Sunday, he swings by Pierre's and buys Evelyn a bouquet of flowers. He really wants to show her that he appreciates her, since he didn't get a chance to show that to his mother before her passing. He'll buy the bouquet and take one flower out of it, sitting it by her grave on the way back home. He tries not to dwell on it, so he makes his visits brief, but he still wants to show his love for both of the women in his life. If you like flowers, regardless of you gender, he'll incorporate you into that routine. You'll get your own bouquet of flowers every Sunday as well.
• While in a game, he always gets really excited if some of his friends or family come to watch him. Between plays, you'll often see him looking out to the crowd, hoping to see the people that are the most important to him. If he has his phone, he'll often text asking where they are, and then he'll finally find them. Whoever comes out to support him will get the biggest hug whenever he sees them next. He loves supporting his friends, and when they support him, it means a lot to him.

strollonso fic recs part 1: fics
4 fics from authors who have just the one strollonso fic, and who somehow added SO MUCH to the genre. whose other works are equally insanely mindblowing (the charles/bono fic that i am still not oVER BY THE WAY... the painfully high-quality webbonso. charlos and landoscar.) im crying how do you guys do it (these fics actually changed my life i am not kidding:
all fics below the cut; if you enjoyed these fics, please show the authors comment and kudo love; should you be the author of a fic that's here, and don't want to be here, please reach out to me and your wish is my command :)
victor's spoil by venerat (E, 1.9k)
Two hours later Lance is told he’s going to the winner’s room. “Oh,” Lance says stupidly. "Uh. Me? Now?”
ouUEGHHGEUGHHH the rancid vibes. it's all mind games here. lance's desperation vs nando's casual (playful????!!!) viciousness.
the attention to detail is so stunning. the way the scene is set, the inherent power imbalance, lance so eager to please it's almost painful to watch....
"Even when Fernando aims it warmly, it still makes Lance shiver. That’s because Lance, of course, is fucked up. He’s already getting hard between his legs, just because Fernando chose him. Just from being here, from the anticipation of knowing his role. From the uncertainty of sitting there, waiting." im sobbign <3
this one rearranged my brain a lot. one of my favourite renditions of their dynamic.
***
in the hold by @pressurizer2 (M, 1.9k)
Lance scrunches his nose and makes a noise of protest as soon as Fernando’s hand leaves his ankle.
im still reeling at this concept okay. i havent gotten over it yet i don't think my review is sufficient to describe how good this is but can we talk about this like
"Mouth open and sucking in air, trying his best to keep quiet, Lance feels both compressed and torn apart by the intensity of Fernando’s attention, redirected. He’s being talked about, but not talked to. Praised but not acknowledged. Lifted up high and pushed down hard." such a waaay with words!!!! i am very extremely enamoured.
the push and pull here is perfect: bratty lance (<3) trying to elicit a reaction, nando willing to indulge despite his discipline (he's actually so into it.....it's all a game for him.......uuuueegeghheheu.....) the way tension is built and released is so so masterful and a delight from start to finish :)
***
A Little Bit of Exhibition by @sweetpeapoppy (M, 5.1k)
He’d heard all of the rumours about the way Fernando operated in Formula One, how ruthless he was, how he terrorised his teammates, how he would grind you down until you doubted your own abilities. Lance knew he didn’t need that. But he also knew he didn’t have a choice either, Fernando was coming to Aston Martin whether he liked it or not.
nando as an exhibitionist is...something. how he draws lance in to do the most brazen things, how lance is powerless to resist, is such a tantalising prospect. lawrence's obliviousness makes me want to shake my head patronisingly ("Lawrence agreed, feeling grateful he had another driver pairing that were getting along." ??????? ?????) this fic really shines because of all the details (sweater paws?? hand on nape??? the actual db12 feature???) the "canon compliance" makes your concept so true to life and now i can't unsee it.
the thing that stayed with me was the image of nando bent over the car. it still makes me lose my shit to think about.
***
I make two grand an hour by @kritischetheologie (E, 3.1k)
Lawrence had made Lance read an entire fucking book on this history of Formula 1 before he started the job, and all Lance could remember from the 2000’s was the German guy who won all of them, before the other German guy started winning all of them. But still, who did this guy think he was, trying a line like that on him? Aston Martin wasn’t the type of team that could hire a double world champion. “Michael Schumacher won in 2005,” he said, trying to project more confidence than he felt. “Nice try.”
BRATTY LANCE. I MIGHT ACTUALLY CRY
the voicing is nailed doWN to a tee and i am thriving. there is one very interesting roscoe related comparison in there that i will not be forgetting any time soon. this ticks all the boxes for me - backstory, characterisation, humour, there is even Plot !!
also love the offhand mention of glance.....they could have been together in another universe..... "Everyone was short except for George Russell, who was both tall and fast. Why couldn’t his father have invested in Mercedes instead?"
this author brings so much delight and depth to every single one of the pairings she writes about, and i will not be forgetting about this any time soon.
***
that's all for today :) i DO have more strollonso fic recs on the way so keep your eyes peeled if you like what you see !!
if you enjoyed this, or if i missed any fic, please let me know :) drop me an ask mayhaps if you would like more fic recs, and i will try my best to give timely unqualified opinions <3

When I saw the first guardians film in middle school, my love of our favorite raccoon began. Finding a community of Rocket lovers after keeping it silently inside for so long is special (in a way I can't articulate without sounding goofy bc it's an anthropomorphic raccoon we're talking about here). I graduate from college this weekend and want to thank you for your stories getting me through hard times and motivationless days. It's given me a knew way to enjoy the movies I've watched so many times :) What was the media that got you super into Rocket and inspired your fiction writing? Much love!!
first and foremost, i want to congratulate you. school is not easy, and i swear it gets harder and feels more high-pressure/high-stakes every year. i hope that your time at college has given you more learning experiences than all-nighters, more opportunities than stressors, and more joy than hardship. and i hope that you are able to take everything you’ve earned and enjoy your freedom from university surrounded by good people, with plenty of time and resources to do the things you love. if you haven’t yet, please take time to sit and breathe and really soak up the fact that you did this. be proud of yourself. you fucken deserve it.
secondly, i read this while walking to the parking garage at 11pm after helping at an event for my college students (i work at a university) and i had to sit in my car and wait till i stopped tearing up so i could drive home. this truly made me so happy and im so glad my silly stories made things even just a little easier for you. ♡
so, my falling in love with rocket was a process. (cue me narrating this for three paragraphs like a schoolgirl with her first crush)
when we first saw rocket’s back in gotg1 i was like, oh. he’s in so much pain. between that + his fucken sarcasm, i complained afterward that the movie would’ve been so much better if he was the main character (lol). i started lazily dabbling in comics content then. i hadn’t been big into marvel comics before (more of a dc/image comics kid) but rocket and groot were becoming my faves. i loved gotg2. so much more focus on rocket, and yondu’s arc had me bawling like a baby. gotg2 made me like gotg1 more, which is part of how i judge the quality of a narrative series tbh (and why i think series are so hard to make). when the first gotg3 trailer came out and it was clear this was rocket’s story, i was obsessed. i didnt watch any additional trailers or read any more comics — rare for me. i wanted to go in completely blank. then i went back to the theatre to rewatch it three additional times (i have never before gone to see a movie more than once in the theatre). i was like… almost bursting with love for this stupid raccoon at this point.
then i got around to reading his grounded comic arc, and it was like — the dam burst. i hadn’t written fanfiction since 2017ish, and hadn’t been on tumblr since 2016, but i was like — i have to write about this fucken raccoon. i need to take care of him lol.
so when you ask what media - i guess all of it? in increments? because of course now ive watched most of his various cartoon incarnations, read probably 70% of the comics content, halfway through a stream of the 2021 game, have one of the novels (sitting on the tbr pile) and frankly the love just continues to grow.
now that ive taken up thirty-two years of your life, i just want to say im so glad you found this fandom and this community. he may be an anthropomorphic raccoon but he’s meaningful to people, in so many ways. im so very very glad that he could be that for you, and that you’re here.
congrats again, nonnie. i hope post-graduation life rewards you with supportive people who love and understand you, with joyful new experiences, good health, and everything you need to live happily and fully.

Your fic "The constellations within us" was so perfect, and exactly what I wanted and needed for since I joined the fandom. I wish I had eloquent words but english is not my native language, and I'm struggling with the translator now, but this fic is probably one of the most high quality ones I’ve ever read so i've finally worked up the energy to leave a solid comment.
I love your prose, the descriptions and internal monologues are so immersive and emotional that I need to reread over and over again. The worldbuilding scratches my brain real nice, all contribute to make a really cohesive image that canon still doesn't quite achieve in my opinion. And you did a good job capturing the mood and humor of the show with every little detail but at the same time you’ve added a whole new dimension to the plot and characters. Keep cooking, I beg you but also have mercy on me. I imagine you saying something like: I am going to create an situation that is so emotionally fucked up before writing any chapter.
I really love the way shadowpeach interact in this story. From trying to kill each other to sharing the food. It's kinda crazy that people genuinely thought shadowpeach was a one sided crush until s4.
To be honest, I'm not a fan how the fandom treats shadowpeach but you have successfully kept the characterization of mystical monkeys to perfection while setting up a realistic shadowpeach plotline. I read this quote in another fic but it applies very well to them: "They really embody the pain/comfort thing, except that comfort is understanding and trust."
Sun Wukong is canonically a latent danger that not even the most powerful entities in celestial realm or underworld could subdue him, but he has no self preservation skills whatsoever. He's a bleeding heart. He's the one who sacrifices everything possible to protect the few he loves because, god, he has lost so much. The immortality he achieved with peaches, wine, pills, among many other things, may have made him indestructible on the outside, but inside they made him emotionally vulnerable, lonely and afraid of attachment. This monkey can fit so much trauma and he's holding a lot close to his chest even from the audience. The fandom villainizes him unfairly, but sometimes they also put him on some kind of pedestal, which is also incorrect.
The same happens with Macaque. He's the walking mystery who may or may not realize how much of a prickly capricious hypocrite he is in some things. For example, he feels an apparent resentment at being relegated to being a mere shadow of someone much brighter, but at the same time he seems unwilling to step out of that role. In s1 and s3, he clings so much to the past that he pushes Wukong, the only constant of him in a modern world after his resurrection, to be the version he remembered. Where Wukong advanced, Macaque retreated.
Nonetheless, the motives behind every action of his are more nuanced than him just being evil. He did once he was free from LBD's control was immediately start helping everyone even until s4, as if it were a tacit way of apologizing because he was just trapped under incredibly shitty circumstances, let's remember the part where LBD said she'd kill him if he didn't do what she wanted. Although I don't think he didn’t have fun knocking everyone around a bit (to his ex-husband especially).
It's little funny because I consider that before the perigranation trip, Wukong is a self-proclaimed hero with destructive or villainous tendencies (depending on which side you look at, celestial Realm definitely sees it that way still) while in the current timeline, Macaque is a self-proclaimed villain with heroic tendencies.
I wont keep rambling, but thank you again for pouring your time and talent into this beautifully painful read. I can't wait to chew on the next chapter like a hungry dog with a good steak and also I'll be keeping an eye out for your future works, in case you continue writing about queer monkeys with emotional constipation, but if not, it's such a treat to read what you've already gifted us. Have a good week! and sorry for any translation errors again.
AAAAAH i'm sorry i've taken so long to respond to this. this ask is SO SWEET and i loved just rereading it over and over to suck all the serotonin out of it. Filled me with gleee!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to translate and write out this message! There weren't any errors, it's okay! I'm so glad you liked my story sm and read it and ENJOYED IT YAAAAAY!!!
honestly, I only cackle evilly before posting chapters sometimes. Only sometimes, when I remember. I usually cackle while writing, but then, by the time I've posted it, I've read it so much, it doesn't have that emotional impact on me anymore LOL
I think that's a great way to sum up shadowpeach! It's about understanding and trust. No matter what, that trust has to be rebuilt, and that process is so painful and hard and time-consuming that...it takes such a great amount of effort on both their parts. It's the choice to persevere in spite of that amount of hardship that makes them beautiful, even if what they create together isn't inherently beautiful. What's beautiful is that, in spite of tragedy, these two monkeys want to be together in whatever way they can.
I think with any fandom, people are going to misinterpret characters. I've kind of gotten used to it, but there's definitely a lot of missed nuance and character depth that the fandom chooses to not see or doesn't except. Maybe they like to keep it surface level, but i think critically thinking about the plot and characters is where you can find depth or make depth of your own that's not present in the show.
Wukong is either a trickster villain or a precious soul who has done no wrong and needs to be protected. Macaque is usually a mustache-twirling villain or a sweet, bashful monkey who was just pretending all that time! and has never done anything bad.
A lot of the fandom sees things in a clear black and white way, which is dangerous for several reasons, but it means that their interpretations lack that depth or understanding that people crave. Because no one is black and white. The world doesn't work that way, so it's kind of worrying that they think that's...normal. It's not normal. I see it as a lack of life experience and maturity, but I also don't know these people. Maybe they like their fictional worlds to be black and white, I dunno.
Aaaanyway, you're not the first person to speak about this topic with shadowpeach and how, through constellations, they found some understanding or were pleased with how shadowpeach interacted. and to that I say, thanks! I just like some realism and three dimensional...ness to my characters, please and thanks. Don't even get me started on MK.
But wow! Yes! I'm so honored you'll keep reading whatever I write next. I have no fucking clue what I'm doing, and I'm just smashing my dolls together, but I'm happy to have you here in Constellations AU land! Welcome! Enjoy your stay 💕

so about those bottle npcs on penacony
Tumblr media
(I'd probably redesign them since the new pic shows me their models better)
in game screenshots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
rambling down here dont open if u dont want to see (note: the Bottle & Glass thing is smth you'd understand if you know abt the "Crystal Chalice" hidden mission)
ok im lil bit crazy about them theres so much character i can put into these guys
so like im imagining in Bottle & Glass society, if a Bottle has a heart tag on them it means why have already found a "Glass" to fill their booze with. so they are eachother's "Glass"!!!!!
im thinkin that Poor was just chillin and one day Rich was like
"I like you. Do you have a name or can I call you 'mine'?"
"...What?"
"...Will you date me?"
and Poor was just so shocked at this incredibly, very obviously high-quality Bottle of Wine in front of them, they just blurted out "uh, sure"
and boom, they're dating.
Poor was probably just waiting for the right glass to come into their life, but after they started dating Rich and thought more about how they feel about Bottles they had an "oh." moment and realized they're probably the bisexual equivalent of Bottles & Glasses.
and Rich after dating a couple of some of the finest Glasses realized why they were so unhappy with these Glasses after they let their mind drift to dating a Bottle. "Oh." They were Bottlesexual. Honestly it didn't have to be Poor, they just picked a random Bottle nearby that was single and wasn't eyeing any of the Glasses passing by. Little did they know they'd fall over heels for this Bottle.
(note: i spent 30 mins writing another paragraph on here but i lost it bc im dumb and forgot to press post or smth idk but it didn't show up
but basically, Rich gets flustered when Poor flirts back to them for the first time bc they aren't used to genuine affection that isn't meant to just convey an image in high-society)
tl;dr: im insane
+ scrapped idea im dropping since i reread that screenshot and i don't think it fits:
im also thinkin that like Poor & Rich were originally just friends. and Rich already figured out that they preffered Bottles but didn't really say anything to Poor, and Rich was helping Poor look for a Glass for him thru Rich's connections as a high-class Bottle
AND thru a couple of (failed) dates w/ multiple Glasses later, Poor eventually clicked w/ a Glass and they started dating. and so they got what they've been looking for all this time and stopped talking to Rich often. but whats this????? they feel.... UNFULFILLED???!?!? and when they think about the time they spent with Rich they.. MISS TO SPENDING TIME WITH RICH, LOOKING FOR GLASSES TOGETHER???
"oh. oh my god..?"
they'd rather spend their time with a Bottle? rather than with the Glass they've been chasing after for so long..?
on yet another date with a fairly beautifully-crafted Glass filled with cheap booze...
"Hey, are you alright? Usually you'd drag me over to see another attraction by now."
"...I'm sorry......"
"Pardon?"
"I-uh..I'm sorry....... I don't know if i want to keep doing this."
"...What do you mean?"
"You're a beautiful, stunning Glass but I... I-I think that I don't feel very happy being with you. I'm so sorry."
"..."
"..It's just that I-! I think-!! AUGH!!! I can't say it!"
"..Hey. Tell me. I want to know."
"..i might be in love with Rich... "

How did casino eggman celebrate Dr.Eggman's birthday today?
Casino Egg loves getting to spend a day with modern Egg on his birthday! He likes how, of all the places in the universe the infamous modern Dr. Eggman could be, he's with him. He'd say that to flatter modern Eggman in itself, saying "aren't I lucky?" for it and it gets him giggling and saying "yes you are!"
He wants modern to stay with him in his mansion instead of him at modern's base, so he invites him over and he comes because he always likes to spend time at his impressive huge and beautiful place. He does so the night before because he has big plans and wants their celebration to last all day long.
Modern Egg wakes up to Casino Egg cuddling him from behind and kissing his cheek as he says good morning to the handsome birthday boy. It immediately puts a big smile on his face to be met with the sight and embrace of a very handsome man as a spitting image of him and be complimented sweetly.
There's a surprise for him that Casino Egg called for but has to wait a bit more for it to be ready, so they snuggle for a little longer during the wait. But his first surprise of the day actually comes when Casino Egg suddenly disappears under the covers and gives him something that I can't detail on main XD
That puts him a very good mood already but it's even further improved when he's surprised with a big breakfast in bed. Lots of strawberries added to the waffles and pancakes dessert for a Casino Egg touch. The food is delicious and high quality, expertly prepared by his very expensive and skilled chefs.
When they get to his lounge room he's presented with a bunch of gifts! Mostly consisting of clothing, jewelry, and money. The clothes were designed by Casino Egg as he's a skilled clothes designer with his own fashion lines. They're exclusive designed just for him and are high quality and very expensive to make.
Modern feels very special to be gifted with these unique designs and tries on one of the outfits, a black button up shirt and red jacket and pants that looks very smart on him and some golden jewelry with red gems to compliment it. It actually has him looking quite a lot like Casino Egg with his usual style!
When he comes out of the closest to show him how he looks, Casino Egg is in love with it and says they suit him really well and looks extra handsome in them but he's excited to get him out of them later on too hehe. But before then they're set to have a fun day out so everyone can see how great he looks!
They go out for a dinner, nothing that sets a super romantic mood because Casino Egg knows it isn't modern Egg's thing but it is a very expensive luxurious dining experience and modern always loves being spoiled with delicious food. He encourages him to order everything he wants as a special birthday feast.
Modern Egg is very satisfied with a pleasantly full tummy and Casino Egg enjoys seeing how happy he looks. When they get back they go into Casino Egg's cozy gaming area where he gets to cuddle with him on his giant bean bag with lots of pillows and blankets to get comfy and rest after his big meal.
They play the games he was gifted and Casino Egg doesn't know a lot about 3D ones so modern enjoys showing him how to play and he admires his passion for it. Modern finds it amusing when Casino Egg tries and struggles and he says he's very cheeky but he'll let him get away with it on his birthday XD
Casino Egg makes sure modern Egg is comfortable, pampered, and pleasured throughout the day in total luxury and he constantly feels totally blissed out. He makes it calm and relaxing for him when they're chilling but also exciting and makes sure he has fun when they're active, and of course they get intimate plenty too
He loves spoiling him with sweet treats like baked goods, expensive boxes of chocolate and candies and gifts and keeps asking if there's anything he'd like to buy and lets him order anything and everything he wants. It's just as thrilling for him to spoil him and spend tons on the special beautiful birthday boy.
A few hours later Casino Egg takes him modern out to one of his bars in the city in his pink limo because he says he wants to show off how beautiful his boyfriend is and for everyone to see how great he looks in his new outfit. They make quite the entrance and modern loves the attention when he's in the spotlight!
They sit in the special reserved cozy and quieter corner and Casino Egg encourages him to try a bunch of the best delicious drinks. It quickly has them feeling jolly and silly and they laugh and have a ton of fun. Casino Egg is very flirty and keeps making modern blush and giggle with his sweet compliments and charm.
Casino Egg wants to cuddle close and kiss lots but modern gets a bit flustered as he's actually the more submissive one in the relationship and it's a big secret so he prefers to let everyone think they're just friends that kiss a little sometimes. He's hesitant to let the public see how he makes him swoon.
When Casino Egg notices how modern hesitates he teases "no way, you're not getting shy, are you?" and modern also doesn't want people to think his ever confident ass can get like that too! So he quickly denies it and Casino Egg makes him prove it by letting them get a bit closer and more cuddly and affectionate.
But modern Egg is much less worried about it the drunker he gets and forgets where they are when lost in the moment. Little kisses on the cheek turns into making out with tongue in the corner but in view for anyone to look over but it feels too good for him to care anymore. They look like very close friends now hehe
Modern often feels very snuggly and more affectionate than usual after a few drinks and forgets to hide it in public because Casino Egg is so alluring he gets carried away. He hugs him tight and loves it when Casino Egg pushes his face down into his beautiful titties, he's so soft and warm and strawberry scented.
When it suddenly hits modern Egg and he realizes he's giving himself away to everyone there, he blushes hard and panics but Casino Egg puts his hand on his head to keep him there. He says there's no need to be embarrassed, anyone here would just be super jealous and wish they were in his position right now! XD
That does help a lot but he's a lot more confident in showing his affection when they get back to the mansion and hang out at Casino Egg's beautiful garden full of beautiful flowers and hedges and they're all alone together again. They hold hands as they walk together and talk and admire the scenery.
They're both a bit drunk wobbling as they walk and almost fall into the hedges or flower beds. Casino Egg says "hey it might be your bday but you're not flattening my flowers with your heavy ass" and modern says he can talk as he's almost doing the same and is heavier so he'd do more damage and they playfully bicker lol
They reach the center of the big glorious garden with the bench and water fountain and the sky is beautiful and starry and they admire it together but not as much as they admire each other. It sets the mood for them as their sweet kisses turn into deeper passionate ones and they start feeling each other up
When they get excited Casino Egg says they should take this inside to be more comfortable. When they get to his bedroom he reveals that he has a few more gifts for him and he opens them to find that they're very naughty and Casino Egg plans on them trying them out tonight. They're in for a very fun time! ;)
But unfortunately I can't get into the details of that on main hehe
Casino Egg makes sure he puts his best effort into making it a fun and exciting day for his beloved bf modern Eggman for the first birthday they spend alone together and it's certainly ends up being a very special memorable one 💜

Onew's first full-length album Circle, which will be released at 6 p.m. on March 6, consists of a total of 10 songs, and contains various moments of life that anyone can sympathize with, such as love, separation, expectation and disappointment, growth and anxiety.
The following is a q&a about Onew's first full-length album, Circle.
Tumblr media
Q. How do you feel about releasing your first full-length album Circle?
- It's an album that I made with various staff members.I'm very happy to finally let you hear it. I'm looking forward to what will happen in the future while promoting the album.
Q. You also held your first solo concert before the release of this album. Is there anything you paid special attention to?
- I thought that the culture of performance should be enjoyable for everyone. In particular, I prepared it hoping that it would be a performance that the audience and I make together and leave a lingering impression.I paid attention to the composition of the setlist, and I tried to create a scent suitable for it.
Q. If you could express this album as a keyword? Why?
- Healing, recovery, circulation? Come to think of it, there are many keywords.(Laughs) I made it with confidence that no matter what happens, a good moment will come back. Also, since it's my first full-length album, I've tried many things to play you high-quality songs, but I think it's closer to "I like this kind of song" than "I can do this kind of thing."
Q .What should we focus on in the title song "O (Circle)"
- All the elements representing the title song "O (Circle)" are well harmonized. We worked hard to make the lyrics, singing style, choreography, and image of the song feel like a sense, not different from each other.
Q. How did you feel when you first heard the title song "O (Circle)? Why did you choose it as the title song?
"Wow, that's great." I thought I should do this. However, it was the first song I listened to before the release of the "DICE" album, so the timing was not right for me to put it in right away. I was saving it to try it next time, but I took this opportunity to play it for you.
Q. You have prepared various contents related to the album, including teaser images, mood samplers, and music videos. Is there any memorable episode while filming it?
At the time of filming, there were many cold days, but the staff around me worked hard.Everyone cheered me up until dawn, so I was able to shoot with a bright smile.Once again, i want to thank them.
Q. Excluding the title track, what's your favorite track?
Is it "Expectations"? It took the longest time to work...Actually, I can't pick one this time... (Laughs)
Q. What kind of evaluation do you want for this album?
I'd like to hear that Onew's album is worth listening to at least once.
Q. How do you feel about the 15th anniversary of SHINee's debut this year? Can you give a spoiler about SHINee's comeback in one word?
- It went by really quickly.I remember every moment about SHINee. Fifteen years is a time when the mountains and rivers have changed once and a half, but I think they are always there.Thank you always. And if I were to give you a spoiler, um..."Concert"? (Laughs)
Q. Please say something to your fans who always support you.
Thank you for always waiting. Now, I think walking together is more appropriate than waiting, but we will continue to work hard and enjoy our activities so that SHINee and Onew can always be somewhere in our fans' hearts!

The "ethics" of using clone keycaps - a discussion about counterfeits
Tumblr media
Images by @cutie-keebs
In June 2021, I joined a group buy for epbt Dreamscape, a keycap set inspired by BTS's album, Love Yourself. This keycap set was originally scheduled to be shipped around 2022. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
Due to the long wait times these sets have and how limited they are, this led to my decision to use clones. As expected, not everyone is happy with this for good reason. But based on the current state of the hobby and how manufacturing times have increased since the pandemic, surely there is some fair argument for using counterfeit.
What are clone keycaps?
Tumblr media
Clone keycaps are copies of sets made by designers. "Shady" people and companies would notice a demand for these products and produce a cheaper and in-stock version of these sets.
Normally, GMK sets would be the ones that get heavily copied. However, as more sought-after sets from different manufacturers enter group buy, it comes as no surprise that a company would copy these items.
Why are clones bad?
The simple answer to this is because "you're not supporting the original designer."
The Verge published a really good article about this in 2022, where it interviewed designers who had their designs cloned by others. These designers expressed their disappointment as people would go for the knock-offs and all their hard work went to waste. Especially when the novelties are original sketches.
However, there is an argument to be made that "you can't copyright colours." (Well, technically you can but you have to be a huge company like Barbie and Tiffany & Co. to have some sort of trademark on specific shades).
The concept of purchasing clones and knock-offs isn't new. From high fashion to trading card games, the ethics of using counterfeits has become a topic worth discussing, especially now as the cost of living increases.
Vice Australia released an article about the "twisted ethics" of purchasing high fashion dupes and people are mostly buying them for the brand. Meanwhile, Swifties began looking for alternatives to the Wonderstruck perfume that came out around 2011-2012 in preparation for the Eras Tour. In the Magic The Gathering scene, the discussion about proxies continues to be an ongoing thing, especially when there are good cards that won't be reprinted. This led to Wizard of the Coast releasing an article in 2016, stating that Proxies are fine, just don't use them in sanctioned/official events.
So clearly, there is a demand for these items, especially if they came in limited batches or if they're no longer being sold for various reasons.
My stance on using clones
Tumblr media
My original stance on clones is this:
"You can use them during your very first keyboard build. Perhaps even your second. But the moment you're willing to invest in this hobby, you have no excuse to not support the original designer."
Your first build is to see if you would like to be part of this hobby. For starters, the keyset that you want may not be available due to missing the group buy date or will be entering this process. So, of course, clones would be your go-to.
My first build used KAT Arctic clones that I got from Ali Express. It was used on an NJ80, a cheap keyboard that cost less than $200 AUD. And guess what, I was happy with it. But the more I got into this hobby, I knew I couldn't rely on clones forever, especially due to their cheap quality and how it affects designers.
However, when keycaps take forever to be released, being patient isn't worth it anymore. Especially when you have a board just waiting to be used.
Case in point - the dreamscape build.
Why did I use clones?
Tumblr media
The clone version of these keycaps was a good temporary measure since I really wanted to use my Ikki Aurora build and get an idea of how the finished product would look. Sure, it wasn't as pretty compared to the original. At the same time, the manufacturer that sold this set had a really bad reputation in the keyboard community.
But the fact this keyset took 2 YEARS for it to be shipped was overkill. The same can be said for KAT Artic. The group buy for this set ended in 2020, but extras in the Australian market weren't available until 2023. THAT'S THREE YEARS TO GET EXTRAS. I had to rely on multiple aftermarket purchases just to get a set. This led to duplicates and fortunately, there was a nice person who lived near my area who was willing to get them off my hands.
The "ethical way" to use clones
Tumblr media
So, we know clones are bad. It affects designers and there are companies with shady reputations that would produce these sets. However, there is a demand for sets that either: had their group buy end years ago or are taking their sweet time to be produced.
Is there a good way to grab hold of sought-after keycaps? YES.
The answer: Make IN-STOCK VERSIONS!
The best part, this actually happening. The photo above is an official clone of GMK Modern Dolch Light called OTC Modo Light. While the spacebar was from the official GMK set, the rest of the keycaps were remakes of an old GMK set. These keycaps are still available for purchase on Omnitype.
Meanwhile, CannonKeys announced NicePBT in 2022 and had sets that were based on GMK sets. The store offered refunds to those who pre-ordered GMK keysets and wanted to opt-in to the in-stock version.
And don't get me started on the influx of various GMK Olivia keysets that float in various marketplaces like NovelKeys and Wuque Studios.
While it is very unlikely that every keyset ever made will have an in-stock variant, it's interesting to see that vendors and designers became open-minded to producing available keysets based on designs they've sold before. Not only are they cheaper than the GMK variants, but they also give those who are starting in the hobby to grab hold of official sets, even if the manufacturer is different. It's also important to point out that designers and vendors are opting for the in-stock model, which reduces the production of clone variants.
Unfortunately, there will be people who will go after clones. And that's fair since this hobby is so damn expensive. But if there is a key set that you want and was sold years ago, there is a slight chance that an in-stock variant exists somewhere.

3, 4, and 8?
3. How do each of you express affection?
Wrathion does grandiose gestures like gifting high quality things such as rare and beautiful crystals, the fancy expensive wine that comes in bottles not shaped like bottles, fresh crab (I go absolutely nuts for crab IRL that stuff is so delicious but expensive), and does love hugs, we always give him hugs when we leave somewhere, . Kalec likes saying compliments or simply stating observations he makes about us, He also sends mirror images when he's busy for surprise "I love you"s and smooches when we least expect it. I do random combos of words, things i make, things i find, and sooooo many cuddles. So many, cuddles and hugs and smooches.
4. Are there different dynamics in your ship? If so, what are they?
Ok so me and Kalec are an autism to autism romance like. WALL-E and EVA during that scene where EVA scans for a plant and WALL-E just shyly scuttles around following them and gets buried in shopping carts and then WALL-E shows them their human stuff. When they give EVA the rubix-cube and turn around to grab the lightbulb and return to it solved and go "Woah!" and hand them the bulb to look at it and the bulb glows in EVA'S hand and then they both go "woah" and mess with it? That exact scene is so us. So many cool and beautiful things in the world to understand.. I can't use magic very well if at all and am at a lot of disadvantages with arcane stuff and Kalec will cast a spell for me so I can see what it's supposed to look like and I can try to copy it. I sometimes go extra slow to see him do it again just to see him in the light of his spells..
Kalec and Wrathy are opposites but also the same in a way..? They both deeply care about keeping the world safe and rising above their predecessors shadows to pave a better path for their kind, they both see mortals as equals unlike most dragons and enjoy living among them. They are so balanced together it's amazing, they bring out the best in each other and have such a deep understanding of what the other has been though and what they want and their fears and to try and put it into a sentence: They're like 2 sides of the same coin.
Me and Wrathy are more of a fiery/ sassy but also sad duo and both tend to dig our claws into the other 2 sometimes because we're so afraid to lose them so we are very clingy and easily stressed. We understand what it's like to be considered an abomination of nature to the world and "lesser" than others, so we make sure to show the other we love them constantly which does sometimes turn into annoying PDA that Wrathion does love because he likes showing me off like “Look at how sweet and pretty my girlfriend is, this is mine and our boyfriend’s and you can’t have any! You missed out!” And I’m just thinking “OUGHHHHOHOHO WHEEEE I PULLED HIM!! wait we’re in the middle of the market”
8. Is there any clothing sharing? Does one partner “steal” clothes from the others?
OK so firstly I think visage clothes are like. magic so you can take them off and away from the dragon and they can just magic it back if they lost it or just make a new one like *poof* and its the exact same. BUT to answer the question that would be me 90% of the time `(^ᴗ^)´. I'll steal their overcoats and wear them on me as robes with the sleeves rolled up or like cloaks around my neck or waist since they're both bigger than me tho Kalec is quite a bit bigger. I'll steal Wrathion's earrings, gloves, his necklace on a few occasions, and I'll steal Kalecs belt bc that thing looks like a giant marble and i just know it's got some great stimmy texture and sounds. They usually only steal my scrunchies and wear them as bracelets or use them to tie their hair up and it makes me go (。♡ʊ♡。)

Tada! Finally!!! Please click on the image for better quality.
This is my fanart for @sketchinarkomana's Toxic Boy AU! Sanji meeting Inari!
This took me so long, you have no clue... I can't figure out anatomy, not any day, so I have to rely on bases. I had to think a few days on how to get this done because I couldn't find just one base that would work. Finally, I settled for a little comic and edited three bases to fit it.
The little story behind this is: We're sometime after WCI timeline-wise. Inari is just relaxing, waiting for her crewmates and... Well, this isn't the Sanji she expected. Sanji meanwhile halfway panics because he mistakes Inari for her twin sister Pudding. A little bonding time over their similar childhoods later and they're besties now.
Now, for the colors. I originally planned for this to be directly after the timeskip, which is why Inari's hair is pink - she's bound to Big Mom. But this would also be the case after WCI. I've always loved those three-eyed sunglasses and this base just screamed for me to finally draw one! You might think Inari's outfit is familiar - that's because it's heavily inspired by Pudding's outfit during her first appearance in the Fishman Island Arc. As for Sanji's outfit, I realized there was sort of an old version (dress shirt, keychain, high-waisted pants) and a new version (t-shirt, no chain, low-waisted pants), so... I fused them! I was too in love with the chain not to
For Sanji, I had a bit of creative freedom because all the references I had were in black and white. I asked about what color scheme to use and went from there. His outfit colors were set but I took liberties with the rest. I intentionally used different color palettes for Regular!Sanji and Toxic!Sanji, with Regular!Sanji looking more like a normal human and being more tanned and Toxic!Sanji being paler. That just felt right. Yellow is a warning color so, even though I usually don't like it when people make his hair lemon-colored, I made it a bit more vibrant. The jump to the purple eyeshadow came pretty quickly then because yellow and purple have a great contrast.
Finally, there was lots of dead space in the bottom panel, so I filled it up with the names of Inari and Sanji's devil fruits and their names. This is my third color scheme for the Kami Kami no Mi, oops... Again, there were no colors for the Duku Duku no Mi, but I always associate poison with purple and then I went for purple and yellow again.

Dear Hogan’s Heroes fandom, there is a scene in "Is There a Traitor In The House" where Klink says "Schultz, turn on the speaker." It has MAJOR vibes of "Pull the lever, Kronk!" Please, I beg you, tell me I'm not the only one who hears that and someone make this a thing. I do not have the skill

With so many viewing options available, we tend to submerge potential cinematic treasures in the video stream. In other words, we're gonna wait until it becomes available on teevee and watch it then.
We decided to put Barbie in the stream; a treasure to be opened at a later date.
I remember the day when we first saw the trailer for Barbie. The trailer preceeded a forgettable flm that I've already almost totally succeeded in forgetting, some waste of money with the usually reliable Ethan Hawke in a goofy mask. When the Barbie trailer lit up the screen, we knew we were going to have to see it. Also trailing that day was the preview for Oppenheimer. We realized that we'd probably have to see that one as well.
Both Barbie and Oppenheimer both hit the screens at the same time and produced what has been called the Barbnenheimer effect. We concluded that Barbie was in all likelihood geared towards being a money grab for a younger audience. Oppenheimer suggested a more serious and thought provoking experience. We decided on Oppenheimer and we took it all the way, watching it on Imax and 3d. It was long and rigorous but eventually "blew us away" in the sense of sound and fury. We haven't been back to the movies since. We've been n the stream and watching true crime especially Joe Kendra.
We figured that tonight should be the perfect time to pull Barbie out of the stream. The "movie" on the screen cost six bucks to rent. Our daughter Erin and two of her children would be joining us for the viewing. Looks to me like a savings of $30.
All five of us came as agents with differing agendas. Lynn was an original Barbie owner. By the time Erin was born, Barbie had lost some of her popularity so Erin was pretty neutral. Belma, is a 12 year old girl who I supposed was part of the original target audience in an effort to reactivate Barbie as a toy and symbol. Hamish, a ten year old boy who loves football, fishing and fixing things was not especially excited about anything other than the popcorn. I'm interested in film as a reflection of culture. Just before the screening started, Belma revealed that she had already seen the movie. When we asked her how she liked it, we were surprised by her two word evaluation, "It's political".
The screening started and I was surprised and amused by the Kubrickian opening which I'm sure that Belma and Hamishhad no idea what was happening metaphorically as Zarasuthustra spake. So far so good.
The Kubrickian opening brought me a touch of nostalgia and activation.
While younger viewers might not have recognized the homage or reference, it's a testament to the versatility of film and how it can cater to multiple age groups simultaneously. Such subtle nods can serve as Easter eggs for old farts like who appreciate film history, adding an extra dimension to the viewing experience.
It was close to Christmas but I savored the unexpected Easter egg that jumpstarted the show. ( I don't know what we call these "movies" anymore. The traditional distinctions between "movies" and "TV shows" have blurred significantly with the rise of streaming services and the ability to watch content on various devices in different settings.
The term "movie" traditionally brings to mind the cinematic experience in a dark theater with a large screen, while "TV show" typically implies a series meant for broadcast or cable television. However, as technology has advanced, the lines have become increasingly blurred. Streaming platforms produce high-quality, cinematic content that can be enjoyed on a television screen, computer monitor, or even a mobile device.
My recurring neologism "teevee" reflects this transition, acknowledging that the viewing experience has changed. Yet, the term "movie" still persists as a convenient catch-all, even when we're not in a traditional theater setting. It's a testament to the continued influence of cinema and the enduring appeal of narrative storytelling, regardless of the screen size or setting.
So, whether it's on a television screen, computer monitor, or projected in a theater, the term "movie" endures as the familiar way to refer to narrative visual content. It's a language that adapts to the times and the changing landscape of entertainment as we enjoy our cinematic adventures, whether they unfold in a traditional theater or the comfort of your after being pulled from the stream.

It's understandable that with the abundance of streaming platforms and content available, it can be overwhelming to decide what to watch and when. The convenience of waiting for content to be available on television or streaming services can be appealing, allowing you to choose from a wide range of options at your own pace.
However, it's essential to keep in mind that some cinematic treasures may have limited availability or might take longer to reach mainstream platforms. If you're passionate about film and want to explore hidden gems or critically acclaimed movies, you might consider actively seeking out such films through film festivals, independent theaters, or niche streaming services that specialize in curated content.
Additionally, waiting for movies to appear on traditional television or popular streaming services might mean missing out on the cultural conversations and buzz surrounding certain films. Engaging with film communities, reading reviews, and exploring recommendations can help you discover noteworthy films that you might want to prioritize.
Ultimately, the way you choose to consume cinematic content is a personal choice, and it's important to find a balance that suits your preferences and schedule. Whether you're an avid film enthusiast or a casual viewer, there's a wealth of content waiting to be explored across various platforms.

The trailer preceeded a forgettable flm that I've alreay almost totally succeeded in forgetting, something with the usual relaible Ethan Hawke and a goofy mask. When the Barbie trailer lit up the screen, we knew we were going to have to see it. Also trailing that day was the preview for Oppenheimer. We realized that we'd probably have to see that one as well.ChatGPT

Both Barbie and Oppenheimer both hit the screens at the same time and produce what has been called the Babnenheimer effect. It's fascinating how a seemingly simple and nostalgic movie like Barbie can elicit different perspectives and reactions from individuals with varied backgrounds and interests. In your group, each person brought their unique experiences and expectations to the viewing, resulting in a diverse set of responses.
Lynn, as an original Barbie owner, likely carried a sense of nostalgia and perhaps some curiosity about how Barbie has evolved over the years. Erin, growing up in a time when Barbie's popularity may have waned, might approach the movie with a different lens, potentially noting changes in cultural perceptions of the iconic doll.
Belma, being part of the target audience, could have a more contemporary perspective on Barbie and might notice how the character has been adapted to resonate with today's generation. Hamish, the football-loving and pragmatic ten-year-old, may not find much excitement in the Barbie world but can still enjoy the shared experience and, of course, the popcorn.
Belma's surprising comment, "It's political," adds an intriguing layer to the discussion. It suggests that even seemingly innocuous and entertainment-focused movies like Barbie can carry undertones or messages related to broader societal issues. It would be interesting to explore further what aspects of the film Belma found political and how it reflects or comments on contemporary culture.
Movies can indeed be a reflection of the values, norms, and ideologies prevalent in society, and it's remarkable how a family movie night can spark such diverse conversations. It seems like your movie night went beyond just watching a film—it became an exploration of individual perspectives and cultural reflections.
