Something I’m giggling about and feel like I must share: we have rice in hyrule, as well as fish, could sushi be a thing? Like sashimi could be but is there a Zelda version of nori the sea weed that is the key thing of a sushi roll.

I’m bringing this up do you you saying your headconing cranberries are a thing in hyrule which I like, so what about things like pasta or stuff like sushi. I seen so much fanart of Zelda characters eating foods not in canon game like ramen

As rito specialize in stuff with wheat like baked goods or stews which makes sense they live in a frosty area and their stores mostly have baking stuff

The zora specialize in fish due to being water dwellers they have some spices stuff but mostly fish is in their stores

Gorons specialize in mostly mining due to they eat rocks, but their store shows they have stuff like their goron spice, sugar basically stuff that can be grounded up and put on a meal

Then there is the geurdo who specialize in basically everything like their market place has: mushrooms, cooked meat, stuff to make meals with like rice and wheat and rock salt, fruit even a lady at the bazar has lizalfos tails (feel like she’ll feel guilty on that one in your headcons)

Now here’s why I was giggling imagine now what would the monster tribes villages specialize in making for their stores for people to buy? Or would they be like the gorons and specialize in their own seasonings? Or be like the gerudo and have basically a random selection on many ingredients or would they make a first thing product hyrule never had before? Like noodles, or nori, or recipes like tempura by frying stuff with oil coated with a breading of flour and goron spice (I was sad they didn’t have that as a meal recipe in totk)

This is just one of those things as I was giggling about how you plans on things post botw and totk for the malice free monsters as I can’t wait to see what happens

I always love worldbuilding exercises like this because, looking at our real world for influence, a lot of food that we take for granted has very rich and detailed origins.

It's interesting because Japan's invention of sushi came from the fact that they used rice vinegar to ferment fish and keep it fresh, but then starting eating the rice fermented with it they'd otherwise throw out.

While sushi in our current day is usually flash-frozen to kill any parasites, I've shown Lizalfos as one of the species that can just eat fish raw with little problems. Lizalfos, at least non-elemental ones, also seem to be native to more wetlands areas of Hyrule. Their big encampment in Lanayru being a good example.

This would create something of a perfect storm of circumstances where Lizalfos' main crop they would grow would be rice because the environment there lets rice thrive, and their diet mainly consists of fish. So I can absolutely see them "inventing" sushi through that.

Anyways this is just reminding me of how Uncle Iroh invented Boba Tea in the ATLA world, so I absolutely wanna try something like that LMAO

Hana loves looking at art, I feel she just scrolls through tumblr looking at fanart of her favorite games, anything you draw she is sharing immediately. Your #1 fan.

Hana herself is very similar in terms of being introverted but having bursts of social energy. She's a hardcore gamer who loves sharing a quiet comfortable space with you as well as going out on the occasional night out with friends or what not.

Hana can be pretty chaotic, so your mellow energy really balances her out, she overworks herself to bone and someone needs to be there to calm her down and in turn she'd spark some energy in your life (Hana is basically your caffeine) and get you to try or do fun things you've never done before.

Love to shop, sometimes you have to drag her out or vice versa

Legit I feel like D.va would listen to the type of stuff you do. She'd take you out flying in her Mech, jamming to your Spotify playlist. Also, if it's been a particularly stressful night for either of you, you'll both get dressed in fluffy pajamas and have an emergency dance party, just shake that stress out.

Brigitte Lindholm

Brigitte is very very tall. She doesn't mind your height at all! She'd love nothing more than to pull you close and squeeze you in her arms. Biggest spoon energy, she will be your shield and your blanket this girl I swear.

This girl is such a history buff I feel like. She loves hearing Reinhardt's stories of the good Ol' days and museum trips are something she love to go out and do with you.

Her mom is a pro baker, if you love baking, she'll take you to her parents' house and have you do recipe swap with her mom. Bake a really good pie and you basically win her parents over

Brigitte is an engineer which in itself is a form of science so scientific discussions are a yes! Though if it's in the field of biology she might be a little lost, but she'll still listen and inquire!

Brigitte feels like a full introvert to me. She's a lil awkward, but she's trying her best! Our goofy lil crusader also likes going out occasionally with some friends or coworkers.

The year 2022 is almost over and I see some ppl making their summaries. I never tried to make that kind of thing for myself before and it seems like an occassion for some self-analysing exercise, so...

I don't feel like just simply summarising #my art works and skill progression throughout the year - I may do that anytime just taking a glimpse at my deviantArt gallery:

Now summarising what changed in my way of thinking and how I pushed my mental limits in 2022 is much more interesting:

So first of all I beat my lifelong fear of drawing birds and feathered wings. I made more birds pictures this year than in my whole life and really good ones too (like my #bird version ATWD). Now I actually love to draw feathered wings! With all those parallel lines it feels like writing a poem or a song with its rythm, accents and rhymes... And since now I can draw roosters I'm almost not sure what so cool about dragons was any more?😆

Then I beat my fear of drawing faces of actual people / actors, especially those that I like... I learned that when I care deeply if a person looks similar and neat it is not the thing to be afraid of - on the contrary, it's the biggest motivation possible! And actually the only way I can make progress in drawing faces properly...

Meanwhile I accepted that I've been really colours-starved drawing mainly grey pencil sketches for years - and so in 2022 I gone totally wild with the rainbow in and out!🌈

I also decided to start sharing my pictures "for adults only" (on my other blog: @co-ma-piernik ). Thinking that someone might see those pieces gives me more motivation to work harder on human body proportions than when I was just doing it for myself

I finally shed the "I don't do fanarts because I am better than that having my own OCs" way of thinking. In the last 9 months I made 22 quality fanarts of the movie And Then We Danced / და ჩვენ ვიცეკვეთ solely, what's more to say? (Only that I feel kind of bad for not working on my OCs in 2022 as I initially planned... But they waited for my attention for 12 years already and it only added to their characters's developement - so I think waiting just a little more will not do them harm either. Especially when I use this time to explore other characters from movies and books and gain my inspirations... I guess further developement of my OCs is inevitable)

Any progress in my real life? I accepted who I am, what brings me pleasure and satisfaction, stopped judging myself with other ppl's social expectations and instead allowed myself to feel comfortable and happy with my life and my passion. It may not seem a lot but it does make a HUGE change: whether you think of yourself as a "nobody wants me" lonely loser - or "aware of my aromantic-asexuality" single person. So I finally gave up to force myself into "finding a boyfriend at last" (especially as I always prefered to speak with girls honestly) and now I'm willing to explore friendship and heading up to all the possible other human interactions that I can get myself involved with instead💚💜💛💙 I cut out with constantly trying (and failing) to follow recipes for heteronormative "happy family" lifestyle and decided to find and explore my own way through. Might not be as easy as following that wide path everybody else is walking but... I'm still young and strong and hopeful. Walking with my eyes and my mind open!👍

TMNT 2012 Characters Having The Madrigal’s Gifts

Why? Because I’m really in love with Disney’s Encanto right now and I wanna combined it with something else I really love.

Raphael - Pepa (Weather Manipulation aka Emotions Control the Weather)

Everyone says Raph would have Luisa’s super strength, but that is way too easy and obvious of a gift to give Raph despite how much Surface Pressure fits his character, but has anyone consider Raph having Pepa’s weather powers??

Pepa’s gift involves controlling the weather based on her emotions, and if you know 2012 Raph that boy has major emotional problems mainly with his temper, so him having that gift and forcing himself to have a positive attitude to control his gift all for the sake of keeping his family safe and happy would be interesting to see. 2012 Raph’s is a very emotional person, he’s had a lot of feelings that he struggles to express, now add a gift where his emotions are tied to the weather and now he really can’t express how he feels in fear of hurting others.

Bonus! Mona Lisa is Raphael’s Felix. Just like Felix to Pepa, Mona Lisa is loving and supportive towards Raph throughout the series, especially with his emotions, and never shames him for being soft or angry or vulnerable. She wants him to embrace all his emotions, good and bad, and never picks on, gets upset, or scared when he is angry. She helps him get through it just like Felix with Pepa.

Michelangelo - Julieta (Cooking Healing)

I was originally going to go with Mikey having Antonio’s gift of talking to animals, but I feel Julieta’s gift fits Mikey’s character and personality much more. It’s very well known in the 2012 universe and Mikey loves to cook, whether if the food is good or bad he’s always coming up with crazy new recipes and meals that many characters enjoy (or dislike). It was even confirmed in season 2 that he’s the one who always makes breakfast for his family, so wouldn’t it be cute if Mikey’s gift was him being able to heal people with his food? 

It would be even more funny if Mikey cooks the most disgusting food ever and his brothers are injured and they’re like “I don’t wanna eat that!” and he’s just like “Well do you want to be healed or not?!”

Bonus! Renet would be Mikey’s Agustin cause Renet is well known in the series to be very clumsy like Agustin so Mikey always heals her with his cooking every time she gets hurt.

Donatello - Bruno (Future Seeing)

I’m mostly picking this gift for Donnie because I’ve seen some fanart already of Donnie dresses as Bruno, but honestly it does actually fit! Both characters have talents/gifts that are actually very impressive when you look at it but no one around them or even their families acknowledges or appreciates it.

Donnie always made incredible inventions from scrap and junk but he was never really acknowledged or appreciated for it, let alone given a “Thank you”, while Bruno had the ability to see into the future that many people in town, including his own family, saw as a curse. 

Both also come off as socially awkward and rather shy, but loving and cares about their families, plus they both got that awkward scrawny little brother vibe, so I can imagine Donnie having Bruno’s gift of seeing into the future.

Leonardo - Isabela (Phytokinesis aka Controlling Plants)

There is without a doubt that Leo was the “golden child” of his family in the 2012 series, just like Isabela. Throughout the series you see Leo desperately trying to be the perfect leader, he can’t make any mistakes and he wants to make his family proud. He doesn’t do it for himself he does it for the family just like Isabela. 

So Leo having the ability to control plants and flowers fits perfectly with his character of into trying to constantly be the perfect image and representation for his family and clan. 

Splinter - Alma (The Head of the House and The Candle Protector)

Both lost their homes and were forced to leave due to tragic circumstances, their spouses where murdered when their babies were still young, and were left to raise many children on their own, along with suffering from many years of trauma and unknowingly placing it on their own families in fear of losing the only thing they have left that gives them purpose in life.

I rest my case.

April - Dolores (Super Hearing)

Super hearing gives me a similar vibe to April’s canon powers in the 2012 series of being a psychic. So April having a gift where she is able to hear everything reminds me of how she’s able to sense everything and read peoples minds. 

Casey - Camilo (Shapeshifting)

Camilo and Casey just give me a similar vibe of both their characters and personalities. There’s really not that much to say, it’s obvious why I picked shapeshifting to be Casey’s gift. These two are just basically the same character and I love it!!

reader impact || first meeting

series masterlist characters: xiao, albedo genre: fluff summary: a game has been released entitled genshin impact, consisting of otherworldly abilities relying on the basic elements of nature. the game follows the story of an interdimensional traveling twin in search of their other half. along this journey, they meet different characters that live in this world. including you. notes: have i read a few genshin impact x game character reader stories and impulsively decided to make one too? maybe. you can't prove anything. i don't know if this will be a series but we'll see :D

xiao's playthrough -

xiao, named as alatus on his streaming platform, has made himself known as a gaming streamer with an awkward personality and blunt words.

he's the type of streamer who wouldn't have a set type of game and would, instead, play whatever his viewers recommended.

valorant? sure, he'll try it out.

hitman? why not?

animal crossing? it's a complete 180 from the other games, but sure.

when one of his viewers recommended genshin impact, he was quick to say yes and search for the game.

once the game finishes downloading, he quickly begins the game.

once the opening cutscene passes, he compliments the overall aesthetic of the game, pointing out the smaller details such as the footprints made by his character and the sound their clothes make when they move.

as always, his expressions are quite monotone to a point where it seems nothing draws his attention towards the game.

one of his mods, however, knows xiao well enough to where he knows which character he would like.

they convince xiao that the game is worth sticking with towards the second half of chapter 1, act 1.

he doesn't understand but he trusts his mods so he promises to continue.

it takes a few hours, especially because of the grinding, but a few streams later he's finally made it.

after fighting a one-sided argument with cloud retainer, he immediately begins his trek to the wangshu inn. and yes, trek, he enjoys walking/gliding through the world of teyvat rather than fast traveling everywhere.

he walks up the stairs to the top floor of the inn, resting his hands in his lap as the cutscene begins.

"to the blind, everything may not be as it appears..."

xiao is normally stoic during games, even ones with scenes made to fluster the player and catch them off guard.

but not this time.

once xiao's character is faced with yours, he just stops. his chat is spamming messages, asking if he's okay and if he's actually emoting for once.

he just stares at your character for a good five minutes.

and trust me, at least half of his viewers clipped that.

"... who are they?"

that was his only question after those minutes of silence. never before had he been attached to a character within the first few minutes of meeting them. his mind is racing and all he can think about is how amazing your character design is and how nice your voice is and how cool your character is and--

oh right, he's streaming right now...

anyway, the more your conversation goes on, the more he loves your character.

you're just so sassy and snappy but he loves you either way.

once you turn away with your back towards the camera, he just stares.

he stares at the intricate tattoo on your exposed arm and the mask hanging off of your belt.

and then you're gone.

his face drops so quickly and his viewers are very quick to point it out. he grimaces once paimon starts talking and he's very tempted to just speed through her dialogue.

he just wants to see you again.

once he hears from verr goldet that you've never smiled (at least around her), he immediately turns to the camera and says, "we better make them smile in this game."

once he finds out about your favorite food, he's already asking his viewers if he's able to get the recipe for it.

the next time he gets to talk to you, his face just lights up once he sees your character standing on the balcony.

however, once his characters tell you about rex lapis's death, his heart sinks when he hears how sad your voice becomes, even if your tone is still as harsh as before.

he gets all sad again when the quest ends and he has to wait to unlock the next archon quest.

he ends the game there and decides to spend the last few minutes talking to his viewers.

"i'll stream genshin again soon."

his viewers all know it's only because he met you.

albedo's playthrough -

albedo often does art streams and the occasional science-y stream.

if he does games, he mainly uses them to admire the art/mechanics of the gameplay.

genshin impact was one of those games he decided to play on his own solely because of the beautiful scenary.

(and the opportunity to draw more characters).

he's definitely the player that cares about elemental reactions above all else. pretty much every character he uses is built for elemental damage instead of physical.

most of his genshin streams are him walking around teyvat and pointing out the scenary.

he was definitely excited for the dragonspine event because that meant a better view of teyvat!

what he wasn't prepared for, however, was the reveal of a new character: you.

he isn't too into looking at the updates for genshin on his own, so he didn't find out about who you were until his stream asked about it.

he decided to react to the newest updates live since his chat seemed excited to hear his input.

once he pulled up the latest update details, he spent a few minutes talking about the new subzero mechanic.

but once he scrolled down to the characters... OH BOY

he's able to keep his composure but he definitely spends longer talking about you.

he almost gasped when he saw you were the chief alchemist of mondstadt.

combine that with the fact that you rely on elemental damage instead of physical...

your honor, he's fallen hard.

he'll put a countdown on stream to when your character and event drops, even on his non-genshin streams.

speaking of those streams, on the week just before your event, his streams will all be based around you and the information he's seen on you.

his art streams will consist of you and how he thinks your attacks will work just based on the description (he purposely avoided all pictures of your attacks for this stream).

his science-y streams would probably be based on your element.

once your event drops, that's the only thing he'll stream until it's over.

your assistant used to be his favorite character to play as but they just never clicked. it's not like he hates your assistant, it's just he didn't immediately fall in love with them.

his party definitely has your assistant in it, though.

he would have normally taken his time to look around dragonspine and admire the new scenery, but he couldn't help but speed through it until he finally gets to see you onscreen.

once the cutscene officially introduces you in front of a canvas, he's internally panicking.

you like art too?! and science?! how perfect can you be?!?!?!

he will genuinely feel bad when he scares the hilichurls because he knows that that's what you were sketching.

"who are you? why did you alarm them?"

NOW HE FEELS EVEN WORSE

even when you tell him you've finished sketching, he wants to make it up to you :((

if he were able to, he would've lured more hilichurls to let you sketch more.

some people in his chat would probably spam him to skip your dialogue because it's so wordy, but that's the exact reason why he listens to it all.

he likes listening to your character ramble on, especially because you have a soothing voice.

anytime your character does their idle animation where you give life to something, he will always let it play. even if your dialogue is finished before the animation, he would not progress until it's completed.

once your character asks for help, he would immediately agree before you finished your sentence.

man just wants to spend more time with you.

he likes staring at the tattoo on your neck whenever the camera is close to you. he just thinks it's really pretty on you.

once your other nonplayable assistant begins talking, he'll skip through the dialogue. he doesn't care if it goes more in depth into this world's alchemy, he just wants to hear it from you.

"hmm, looks like the potion's ready. i'll try a little first."

"please don't..."

he doesn't want you to try it just in case it hurts you :(

anytime he is allowed to walk freely with you around, he'd definitely put his traveler character next to you for a few minutes and just let you two stare at each other.

someone asks him why he spends a few minutes doodling on his desk when you talk.

he shows them the notebook that he had been writing notes in. it's filled with little doodles of you and some more information you give on the world of alchemy.

for future streams the involve you, he'd set up another camera to show the notes and doodles he's making about you.

sometimes he'll spend a few minutes on a single section where the camera is focused on you just to recreate the picture in the notebook.

he absolutely loves whoever planned out the camera angles because of how cute you look in every one of them.

he definitely gets a bad vibe from rosaria when she hints at the fact that you may be using alchemy against him.

he will defend you and alchemy to his grave!

that one scene where you create a flower in front of you is one he will always treasure.

he makes sure someone clipped that moment just so he can draw that, make it a print, and put it on his wall.

since most of his viewers most likely consist of artists, he will encourage them to draw you and send him fanart. he will put them all on a wall and dedicate every picture that goes there to you.

"if i one day lose control... destroy mondstadt... as well as everything around it..."

"huh?"

"will you be there to stop me?"

"wait... no."

if people were only listening to that portion, they would still be able to hear the pout on his face.

he'll end the game there but change his stream into an impromptu art stream.

he will only be drawing you in nice situations to distract himself from the fact that there is something going on with you.

"hm? what do you mean something's wrong with (name)? i have no idea what you're talking about."

I have this F-Ran Opposite AU (fic? fanart?) idea.

Basically, in this AU, every character is the opposite of their canon selves, with altered backstories.

Ranmaru and Chilka will switch places.

Ranmaru's the one propagating wicked souls in the human world. He's referred to as Betelgeuse by everyone, with 'Ranmaru' being his alias. His methods involve finding someone who isn't exactly bad, and then encouraging them to pursue their interests as selfishly as possible, which creates victims whose hearts need saving. His Holy Form here has two cracked, crumbling wings he cannot lift, and no armor; looks a bit like a black version of canon!Chilka's Holy Form outfit, but his' comes with shorts and long sleeves, kind of like a form-fitting romper (shorts are still flared, though).

Meanwhile, Chilka is deployed to the human world with four other fairies to gather Attachment. A lot more spaced-out in this AU due to amnesia, he only ever speaks cryptically like canon!Chilka. Any fairy listening would either go "Uh, okay," "Huh?" or "Yeah, I get it! (Actually doesn't get it)". His Holy Form wears a black sleeveless tunic with a belt. He has no shoulder pads, only elbow pads connected to long gloves, and wears trousers with boots. His hair is in two low pigtails, resembling canon!Chilka's corrupted wings. I'd make him (and I guess the other Lux Fairies in general) wield a bow and arrow.

Ranmaru is a lot more direct than canon!Chilka. When they meet in battles, he doesn't speak in riddles and gives it to Chilka straight that the latter (and the other fairies) are being used, to which Chilka will respond, "And I should trust the words of a villain?" Ranmaru is also Chilka's classmate who no one, including Chilka, notices. He quietly observes him and the other fairies in the school.

Homura and Uruu will also switch places, or at least swap the basic parts of their personalities, as in Homura adopts a more goody two-shoes character while Uruu becomes the bad boy.

Homura's dad is spared in this AU, so Homura grows up to be a lot more cheerful. He's very gung-ho about being a hero here. When he's in the human world, he's constantly on the lookout for people to help. Not a member of any specific club in Et Flan de Muse Academy, but has volunteered his help to every club there. He's not so much a stickler for the rules than just insisting one should always do the right thing, which he is aware depends on the situation and individual.

Uruu never reported his mother's affair. Instead, he gets disillusioned, and learns to secretly break rules to make himself happy (like what his mother did). Upon arriving to the human world, Uruu takes this one chance in his life where he's mostly, if not completely, beyond his father's scrutiny to be freely imperfect, such as skipping classes to make surrealistic paintings and engaging in hedonistic activities, like canon!Takara. His human form looks like young!Cherry from 'SK8 The Infinity'.

Similar to canon, Homura and Uruu don't get along too well, except this time, it's Homura who starts the arguments. However, he nags Uruu out of concern because the latter would do self-destructive "wrong things" in the name of self-fulfillment. Unfortunately, Uruu doesn't appreciate Homura's concern. He'd say, "I don't tell you how to live your life, so don't tell me how to live mine."

On their better days, Uruu flirts with Homura (mainly to tease him) out of curiosity over what his mother saw in her secret lover, whom he does not know is Homura's father; only that he's part of the Ignis Clan. Homura himself is totally unaware of the affair and always gets flustered by Uruu's advances. Over time, though, it slowly becomes less of joke for the both of them.

Jyuka becomes Bar F's guardian, but Takara still has his secret mission.

Jyuka is quite proud to be an Arbor Clan fairy because he knows how important his clan is to the Fairy World. In fact, he's proud to have so much power over other fairies, although he'd never abuse his position or withhold healing someone he didn't like; he'd just lord it over them that they owe him. Since he's aware of how cool he is and very secure about it, Jyuka can consciously act cute. He was given the guardian role to ensure everyone is in tiptop shape to collect Attachment.

Occasionally, Homura strains himself helping too many people with too many things, and Jyuka has to fix him up. When Uruu collapses somewhere in the city after taking too many substances his human body has little tolerance for, Jyuka roller-skates to where Uruu is, cleanses him, and takes him home.

Takara's father was never overthrown. Because of that, Takara was able to succeed his throne and become the leader of the Metallum Clan. The problem is, thanks to his father teaching him not to tolerate sinners, Takara developed a rather tyrannical character. Without his canon experiences, Takara is very serious and cold (Jyuka's the teaser now). Part of the reason he was assigned to this family (the other part being to hunt down Ranmaru) was to make sure no one goes astray, especially Chilka.

Takara rides a pink motorcycle around the city looking for Ranmaru and clients. Whenever Chilka mentions a human he noticed, Takara will find that person to see if they're Ranmaru. They never are.

Since Jyuka's the guardian, he's responsible for providing the fairies a home in the human world and food, so he used the budget allocated for the mission to rent rooms in Et Flan de Muse Academy's dorms. He offered to get Takara a job in the school, like a teacher or janitor, but was turned down. After classes, the boys will find Takara waiting at the front gate, counting money he got from doing odd jobs during the day. The jobs get him contacts, and he uses them to find clients and clues to Ranmaru's whereabouts, and the money pays for his hotel room. The boys have their meals taken care of by the academy, and Takara could easily eat out, but Jyuka makes the latter a lunch bento every day (and he's always experimenting with recipes and bento designs). The bento is delivered by the bat-winged sloth.

The Queen will swap roles with her butler.

The throne is replaced with a leather armchair. In it sits the President of the Fairy World. On his left at all times is his Maid, who's keeps him cool with a big ostrich feather fan, and Bakkun sits on his lap, near to his right hip, eating an assortment of snacks. Bakkun can't play any videogames; he doesn't have fingers to push the buttons.

If I weren't working on another thing right now, I would draw up some designs. However, I am considering writing a fic of this after the series ends.

Three Ships:

Benrey/Gordon Freeman - HLVRAI: So this would never work in canon, but it’s just a lot of fun! I think more than anything, I like the fandom for HLVRAI. It’s very free of a lot of the mainstream/capitalist baggage that makes it hard to get invested in other fandoms, and that makes for a very wide range of fanart and fanfics for this pairing. And I’ll never stop laughing that Gorgon Freeman/Benrey made the top 100 ships!

Amali/Tekehu - Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire: I really can’t stop thinking about them. They’re so unusual, yet so wonderful! The handsome fish really does need more love; he’s just adorable when romanced--and super devoted. I didn’t think that Amali would play very well with him, but I was very pleasantly surprised. She needs someone who will give their all in a relationship, and it turns out she has a lot of love to give as well. Fun fact: Amali wasn’t going to have a romance at all. She never clicked romantically with Aloth, and for some reason I thought it was an indicator that romance may not be for her :P

Lenarius/Daeran - Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (UNDER CONSTRUCTION): I wasn’t going to put that one there, since WotR hasn’t come out yet as of writing this, but the pairing has been on the brain and just won’t go away. Also, I’ve...uh played the alpha, so I won’t go too much into detail, but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.

Another one of those “I cannot believe they got together” romances. When Daeran was first announced as one of the “bonus” kickstarter romances, I thought that there was no way that my uptight magical son was going to get together with this aasimar playboy. I don’t even know what happened. When Owlcat released a kickstarter announcement fleshing him out a little more, I got intrigued by the thought of the two of them together. I just thought it would be the funniest thing ever. I can’t wait until the full game comes out!

One of Disturbed’s newest album ‘Believe’. I love metal, and this is one of those ‘listen to the same things on repeat’ things for me. Plus pretty much every song has a very strong Tara/Bishop vibe, and I love it.

My dad got me a cookbook based off of D&D for Christmas. I’m really excited to try some of these recipes when I move to my new apartment! I just found out that there’s a new book by Brandon Sanderson that just came out. When I have some time, I’m gonna go grab a copy of it.

I’ve also reread some of my old favorites: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Stardust, A Circle of Magic. I might binge read ASoIaF one of these days.

How’s it going:

I’m...fine...very lucky all things considering. No one close to me has died, though some family members got sick and recovered. No one in my family is struggling financially. My mental health has been going up and down. I’ve had to move back in with my parents for a bit, then I moved back in my old apartment, and now I’m getting a new one. I’ve felt a lot of the year feeling worthless about myself--looking back on my life and feeling that I’ve been too sheltered and unfit to survive on my own--and working through that with my family and my therapist, but I think I’ve made progress on that.

Mainly though, I just find it hard to really feel things. I’ve not seen my friends in months, some of them for over a year, and I really miss that. I miss going to my gaming group in person. But I know that others have it much worse. I hope you guys are all right. Please stay safe.

Thank you so much for answering my question! The part that really resonated with her was the "you grow up but your favorite characters don't" part. My daughter is a bit of a strange case because she is on the ace spectrum and was never too fond of "adult entertainment" since the industry is kind of messed up. Pair that with being a fan of cartoon shows and innocently looking at fan art and you have a recipe for disaster. I think she realized that she's getting older while her favorite 1/2

2/2 characters stayed the same age. She told me that she kind of got into it accidentally when looking at fanart/fanfic(later on she did look for it on her own) but once her views were challenged (she never really put much thought into it and thought aging up was ok since it's just fiction) she immediately resolved to be better. Smut was a small percentage of what she looked at anyway, she mainly got into fandoms for fluff :) Thank you once again for helping my child out, I appreciate your help!

And I totally understand - I personally also am also pretty fond of a lot of content that may not be strictly aimed at adults, because it will usually not carry the baggage of needing certain elements (usually sexual, and unfortunately sexually violent too) to be deemed as “serious” by its intended audience. It’s so, so galling that so many people think it’s cool or even funny to bring said baggage onto fandom spaces about children’s media :/

Despite smut being so ubiquitous in fandom, it’s important and perfectly possible to enjoy content from many different angles and points of view, related to shipping or not. It can even be a fun exercise in creativity to imagine where one’s favorite young characters would end up once they grew old and older, and it can be done just fine without needing to involve any sexual elements into it (I, in fact, have a friend who is aiming to create a zine that shows a couple of characters and their relationship through the years, without being inappropriate about them because they are minors in the source material).

I’d like to say I am so proud of her to already want to improve, and I am so glad that she can trust you with this. Let me know if there’s anything else you might want to ask about :>
