I know I draw Ben in a way to make him seem cute and adorable and wholesome but
Don't let him fool you, he is a freak at heart, and he can be a total bitch if he doesn't like someone
This 5'0 drowned rat can actually be pretty fucking terrifying, he just doesn't perceive himself in such ways because he likes to have friends and socialize since he never had friends when he was alive-:(

Was experimenting with halftone effects after watching this video and it almost has spiderverse vibes honestly. I actually learned some neat things about why printers use CMYK instead of just CMY so I thought I'd share !!
So in our optimal little computer space, Cyan (0,255,255), Magenta (255,0,255) and Yellow (255,255,0) all multiplied together gives us a perfect black (0,0,0) Awesome! The issue is that ink colors irl arent exactly perfect like this, and color is a bit more complicated irl compared to how computers represent it, so they aren't the greatest at combining into black if they aren't those perfect CMY values:
Left: CMY
Right: CMYK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(thats not even black, its a dark blue in the original image but dark colors just look so much richer)
An important step to make sure you arent doubling up on the black values though is to divide the image by it's own "value" (the max of all 3 color channels) that way the value is equal to 1 everywhere, and you're letting the black ink take care of the value on its own.
Left: CMY (normalized value)
Middle: K (black)
Right: Combined
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now obviously the grids of dots cant be aligned perfectly with each other because you'd just get a bunch of black dots in unwanted areas, but if the grids are misaligned, then some dots become more prominent than others which tints the whole image. This was an issue because older printing methods didn't have great accuracy and these grids were often misaligned.
Tumblr media
The solution was to rotate these grids such that they can move around freely while getting rid of that tint effect if they aren't perfectly aligned :D
(I have no idea how they came up with these angles but that might be something to look into in the future who knows)
Tumblr media
SPEAKING OF MISALIGNMENT
I wanted to implement that in my own filter to get some cool effects, and I discovered another reason CMYK is better than CMY for lots of stuff !!
With CMY, you're relying on the combination of 3 color channels to make the color black. This means if you have thin lines or just details in general, misalignment can make those details very fuzzy. Since CMYK uses a single color of ink to handle value, it reduces color fringing and improves clarity a lot even if you have the exact same misalignment as CMY!
Left: CMY
Right: You guessed it! CMYK
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(yes these comparisons have the exact same color misalignment, the only difference is using a fourth ink color for black)
ANYWAY I just thought there was a lot of cool information in this tiny little day project, I also just think it looks really neat and wanted to share what I learned :3c
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
EDITING BECAUSE THERE'S ONE MORE THING I WANTED TO ADD
So, I talked about how to get K in addition to CMY instead of just CMY, but how exactly do you separate CMY from an image in the first place?
Well, CMY is a subtractive color space, meaning the "absence of color" is white, compared to RGB where it's black. This makes sense because ofc ink is printed on white paper. You can use dot product to get the "similarity" between two vectors, and this can be used to separate RGB actually! Using the dot product of a color and red (255,0,0) will give you just the red values of the image. This is cool though because if we get the dot product of our image and the color cyan (0,255,255), we can get the cyan values from our image too! If we first divide our colors by their value to separate the value from them, then separate CMY using those dot product values, and using K for our final black color value, our individual color passes end up looking like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While it's called a "subtractive" color space, I find it more intuitive to treat white as the absence of color here, and then multiply all these passes together. It makes it much easier to understand how the colors are combined imo. Notice how cyan is the opposite of red: (255,0,0) vs (0,255,255) and magenta and yellow are the opposites of green and blue respectively! This means you can actually kinda get away with separating the RGB values and just inverting some stuff to optimize this, but this example is much more intuitive and readable so I won't go too deep into that. THANKS FOR READING I know it's a very long post but I hope people find it interesting! I try my best to explain things in a clear and concise way :3
Tumblr media
oh thank you I realized I should probably add an eyestrain tag

#MYSTIC MESSENGER !! ♡ — A LITTLE LITTLE MORE LOVE.
Tumblr media
#. synopsis! — sweet gestures from them to you .
#. characters! — hyun (zen), jumin, saeyoung (707), yoosung, jaehee .
#. warnings! — none .
#. others! — navigation & masterlist .
#. a/n! — back in the mm pit because it's summer and it's time for my annual redownload <3 i've also been thinking about opening a discord, so if anyone has thoughts on that, i'd love to hear them! PLUS, i played the free demo for this indie otome-esque game on steam called homicipher, and i am begging for the release of the first chapter, idk if any of you have played it, but i am way too addicted for having only played like half an hour of it. anyway lolol, enjoy!!
Tumblr media
# HYUN (ZEN) !! ♡
Hyun, who buys bouquets of flowers every now and again on his way back home from rehearsals. He does his best to match the colors to your needs, —yellow on sad days in hopes they might lift your spirits, blue when you’re frustrated so that it might calm you down, etc.. They always smell so sweet, and you cherish them deeply. They always live longer than they typically should as a result of how well you care for them, and he loves to see the bashful smile tug at your lips as you accept them gracefully, even if you always tell him that he “really shouldn’t have” or that he “didn’t have to.” He does it because he loves you, and he thinks someone as beautiful as you should be presented with something just as gorgeous every now and again (even if he admittedly thinks you’re worlds prettier than flowers could ever be.)
Tumblr media
# JUMIN !! ♡
Jumin, who writes little notes on the corner of the napkins he rests your coffee or tea on each morning, delicate and elegant handwriting in black ink sinking so perfectly into the ivory material. They’re never the same, always a different expression of his love or his admiration. You like to tear them off and keep them safe in a little box, and you open it up to read them when you’ve had a hard day or when you’re just not feeling your best. He always tells you that you don’t have to keep them, that he won’t be offended if you simply toss them away after you’ve read them and they’ve made you smile, —but you can never bring yourself to do it.
Tumblr media
# SAEYOUNG (707) !! ♡
Saeyoung, who folds little origamis for you when he gets the chance and leaves them somewhere around for you to find. It started with a tiny paper star he was folding for the heck of it, but you liked it so much that he decided to do it again, and again, and again. So now you have a neat little stash of different animals, shapes, and otherwise cool-looking creations (all of which have silly, blank expressions drawn onto them as faces that really add a sweetness to their personality.) You like to sit and fiddle with them every now and again, just to feel the sharp edges of the crane’s beak against your fingertips or to split the little heart apart and see the “i love you <3” written on the inside.
Tumblr media
# YOOSUNG !! ♡
Yoosung, who buys sticky notes for his studies but ends up using most of them to leave you little notes with cute messages and silly doodles. He likes to think this is a better usage for them, especially when he watches you spot one out of the corner of his eye, and you hold it in your hands like it’s some kind of love-stricken poetry from a wordsmith he knows he’ll never be. They might be simple and straightforward, but there’s not much room for stanzas of prose on these little post-its, and reminders that you’re doing a good job or that you look cute are so much more than enough.
Tumblr media
# JAEHEE !! ♡
Jaehee, who bakes you little desserts for you to eat when you get home, often heart-shaped or dusted in romantic colors, —always in your favorite flavors. Cookies with little jam hearts in the center, cupcakes with heart sprinkles and a cream just to your liking filling up the inside; each and every one made with so much love that you can practically taste it on your tongue. There’s no one else she’d rather bake for, and no one else she’d rather spend the rest of her days with. Sometimes words are hard to come by, and she worries she won’t always get it right, but when you kiss her on the cheek before taking a bite of her treats, well. . . She thinks things will be alright anyway.

hello! i love your zelink stuff sm😭 do you have any advice on how you get your characters so textured? like,, idk how to explain, but the clothes, hair and skin have a cool smudged effect. it might be rendering, but i really like your style of it!
uhhh okay im not sure exactly what you mean so i'm just going to go over everything you could potentially be talking about lmfao. (this is the problem with having multiple coloring styles)
what i think you're probably talking about is the very soft, smudgy rendering style that I sometimes use for more finished pieces. I haven't used it that much recently though so i'm not entirely sure?? for examples it looks like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is a combination of 3 different sai brush presets. I sketch with a custom crayon brush, do flat colors with sai's default paper acrylic brush, and shade with a custom watercolor brush, and then i do a second pass overtop of all that with the crayon brush again to smooth things out and define important details. these are the settings for those brushes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you're talking about the kind of cleaner block-color look like this, which I think is the style I use most often:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is the same crayon brush and paper acrylic brush mentioned above, but instead of shading with the soft watercolor brush I use the same paper acrylic brush to cell-shade. color and line do most of the heavy lifting here, since the only brush with any special texture is the paper texture on the crayon brush that's used for the linework.
the third potential style this could maybe (?) be about is this rougher, more obviously textured style, although in my mind i wouldn't call this 'smudged':
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is my new holy grail brush. i love her and i use her for absolutely everything. this one is for CSP, not sai. it's called sketches / doodles by REN99W, content ID 2024976 on the asset store, and it's FREE which is insane because it's the best csp brush ive ever used in my entire life. its pressure sensitivity is really cool because at normal pressure it will basically act like a normal linework brush with a bit of nice crunchy texture, but if you press harder than normal you get that sort of spray effect that looks almost like a halftone. literally incredible. works for sketching, lining, painting, ANYTHING. this brush has carried my art for the past semester and a half

Fuck JKR: How To Create A Harry Potter-Esque Aesthetic Without Any Harry Potter In It
So I saw a few posts from people mentioning that a reason people might be into Harry Potter is because of the aesthetic or atmosphere, and ya know what? I can't even argue that, because if there's one thing about HP, it's that it Sure Does Have Aesthetic And Atmosphere.
So! I'm gonna tell you how to STEAL ITS LOOK! Because:
JK Rowling considers ANY support of her work to be support of her politics.
Fan content/fan merch is still free advertisement for Rowling's work. YOU might not choose to give her money, but you can't be sure you won't pull people into the fandom who will.
Everyone should create more things that aren't tied to corporate-owned IP, period.
So. Most things in these films have an aged, antique look. You'll see a lot of brown hues, both on sets and on people's clothes. There's a lot of near-blacks (especially charcoals and walnuts) and lighter grays on the sets, especially from the third film onwards. (Wood is more often than not stained dark, while lighter hues are often provided by bricks or plaster.) The last two films use a lot of stormy blues and grays. Prisoner of Azkaban also emphasizes contrast between tones, which heightens a sense of texture. True black also appears throughout the films, such as on students' uniforms and many Death Eaters' outfits, and on the chairs in Malfoy Manor. White appears occasionally, especially on Hedwig, students' shirts, or during winter scenes, but pure white isn't otherwise really common. Paper or parchment is usually warm beige. There's also a lot of silver, gold, and brass, often appearing on things like dishware, tools, trinkets, Christmas baubles, and so forth. Bronze also comes up occasionally.
Reds, yellows, blues, and greens are pretty common throughout the films, even outside of Hogwarts, though you'll see just about every color somewhere. For example, orange is often found around the Weasleys, and orange, maroon, and purple feature in the divination classroom. Teal features prominently in Grimmauld Place (contrasted with saffron yellows).
Most colors aren't really super bright; a lot of the time they look a little faded, or like they're colored with natural dyes. If you use medieval illustrations to source your colors, or aim for earth tones and jewel tones, you'll be about right for a lot of what you see in the films. Bright colors are pretty rare; some of the brights we do see are in Honeydukes, Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes, and certain magical effects, such as Floo fire.
A lot of light is provided by candles, torches, or fireplaces, which cast a warm yellow/orange light. Moonlight is represented by blue light in the first and second films. Blue light is also used for the Goblet of Fire and the penseive.
Another thing you gotta have in there is clutter. It should look kinda antique and give off a kind of magical or mystical atmosphere. Think books, storage jars, orreries, crystal balls, old lamps, antique clocks, vintage glassware, antique mirrors, old teapots, and little metal trinkets. (If you're trying to decorate a physical room, your stuff doesn't have to actually be antique, of course; antique-styled is fine.)
Texture is also very important, which can be represented with full or top grain leather book covers, stone walls, dents and scratches, cracks, embellishments, and embossing. Additionally, all damage and wear gives a sense of oldness to things. Stains and variegated colors also add interest. (If you're decorating a physical space, you might look into aging/distressing/antiquing techniques.)
If you want a space to look cozy, you don't really want bare or blank walls. Shelves, paintings, tapestries, and wallpaper can all help with that. Again, use brown, rather than black. Warm, yellow lighting will also help. If you lean toward blacks and cool lighting, you're going to have a colder-looking space.
Fashion in the wizarding world is extremely all over the place, ranging from stereotypical fantasy witch and wizard clothing, to pretty normal vintage clothing, to some wacky vintage-inspired looks, to the kind of fashion that would be put under the cozycore umbrella, to ordinary modern clothing. One thing that's absent is subculture fashion as we know it. (Bellatrix Lestrange does look kinda goth, but it's less a subculture thing, and more a "yeah we're putting our bad guys in fancy black stuff" thing.)
If you're trying to lean into the whole quirky/eccentric/old-fashioned kinda thing, you'll want to pass over the more modern and obviously synthetic type stuff. Also, patterns, textured fabrics, knits, mixed colors, lace, and other embellishments can add interest to outfits.
Architecture is also all over the place. Hogwarts is pretty medieval, while places like Diagon Alley give more Victorian vibe. The main thing is looking old fashioned and quaint.
To try and summarize all of that:
Browns. Lots and lots and lots of browns. Blacks and grays, too. Contrast between light and dark browns and blacks/grays.
More beige and gray than pure white; more charcoal gray and dark walnut brown than true black.
Among other colors, mostly earth tones and jewel tones. Very limited brights.
Polished metal and glass also add shininess.
Old-fashioned. Vintage. Antique.
Clutter, texture, patterns, variegation. Minimalist/clean aesthetic avoided.
Aged and distressed.
Lighting often yellow/orange due to coming from fire. Blue/teal light often coming from moonlight and certain magical light sources.
Now, here are some things we actually don't see. I'm not mentioning them to discourage you from using them if they're what you really want, but to inform you about them so you can consider whether they might throw off the vibe for you:
Green/purple/black combos.
Purple/silver/black combos. Pink/purple/teal combos.
Pink/black combos.
Orange/black combos.
Green/orange/purple combos.
Red/black combos.
Basically a lot of combos commonly associated with Halloween, witches, or vampires.
Big raw crystals. We see crystal balls now and then, but that's it.
Other natural items used as decorations - feathers, pinecones, sticks, etc. The one exception I can think of are the shells embedded in the walls of Shell Cottage.
Crushed velvet. Lots of fantasy uses this, HP films don't.
If you need inspiration, go look up medieval and renaissance diagrams and illustrations of stuff like the four elements, the zodiac, the solar system, and all that. Go look up alchemical symbols and emblems. Search up pre-WWII vintage ephemera. Go look up Victorian clipart. Look up stuff like botanical, zoological, and astronomical books and art from the 17th-19th centuries. Look up vintage wallpaper and fabric patterns. Look at vintage-style crafts. Research period architecture and fashion. Research European heraldry.
If you're wondering what exactly you're going to design around without Hogwarts and the Four Houses, here are some suggestions:
The four classical elements (earth, air, fire, and water)
The four seasons
Card suits - Tarot, French, whatever you want
Holidays - Halloween, Christmas, whatever
Fairy tales
Flowers
Mythical creatures
Bugs
Birds
Any other animals you like
Ecosystems
Your own original worldbuilding
So yeah, there ya go. You don't need to keep participating in HP to indulge in the aesthetic.
[NOTICE: Anybody who clowns on this post by making this about them and their childhood, patting themselves on the back about their chosen means of "ethical" participation, praising the fandom, or adding any other form of irrelevant bullshit is getting blocked. Also, I don't want to hear about PJO or Earthsea again for the millionth time, either.]

whatever you do, don’t think about Charmy wanting Vector to play with him by landing on the middle of the croc’s back so he can’t catch him while Vector is trying to reach and get him off, while simultaneously making it into a game, spinning the two of them around and pretending to not know that’s its him and some random person trying to attack him.
Just…don’t think about that cute scenario.
.....EXCUSE ME? Bro, BRO
You are CRAZY to think that I would read this, picture it, and not react to it in some form there, Non. That would be a wasted opportunity there if i didn't.
So lucky for you I did 😘
Tumblr media
====
Charmy huffed out a sigh and laid his face against the hardwood floor, throwing down a crayon and lazily watching it roll across the floor until it hit a stack of papers that he had colored, folded, and cut an hour prior to this mental roadblock. The one issue is that he had no more paper, and that also meant that he was back to being bored until something else happened.
He didn't have many options. Going outside to play was definitely out of the question since a huge snowstorm had come inland the day prior and wasn't letting up anytime soon. Which also meant that no clients were going to be calling in for potential cases to them crack for a while.
He had some picture books he could look through and some school-related notebooks he could work on, but he already looked through most of them while he was NOT trying to do any school work in an unofficial snow day, even though Vector and Espio might make him do it later on.
He would go to use the phones to call up one of his friends, like Cream, Ray or Tails, or even that cool guy, Shadow the Hedgehog, if he even bothered to keep a cellphone that is. But they only had the one landline and he knew Espio was using it earlier to talk to some important people on the other end.
That left him just one option left, being stuck bored beyond belief until his brain melted into jello, or whatever happened when you're bored for so long.
He rolled onto his back, staring up at the ceiling until his eyesight went all fuzzy, reminding himself that he needed to blink every so often. After 5 minutes of doing that was beginning to get boring for him.
Charmy's thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice clearing their voice from the main floor below, followed by the sounds of paper shuffling around. He lifted up his head slightly and remembered that he still had two other people in the office to play with.
Crawling over to the edge of stairwell, he climbed down a few of the steps and peeked over to see Vector at his desk, writing thoroughly on a few sheets of paper while multiple folders covered the rest of the desk, a steaming mug of coffee next to him, he also had radio on behind him that sounded like it was playing music from the old times. Vector told him it was a style of music from the 50s, which probably made the crocodile super old if he remembered that.
Other than Vector, there was no one else here. Espio wasn't in clear sight, though from where Charmy was looking, he was either in the kitchen or near the front entrance, either doing his own paperwork or meditating like he usually does.
That just left Vector as the main target. He definitely knew better than to bother him while he was doing important work stuff, but his thirst for fun was on the line, and he was not going out like that easily.

Fruity Domino Belt
Steve isn’t very artistic, but maybe that didn’t matter.
CW: An absolutely heinous pizza combo, and Steve being self deprecating about his art skills. Reader is often referred to with Fem pronouns and is called Bunny as a nickname. Her style is very distinctive, but other then that, she is written as inclusive as possible!
————
The next Saturday, Steve is over at the Munson trailer. A six pack in one hand, and a notepad in the other. It took him a while to come up with something he could make, something useful, but then he remembered your notepads. He's been able to communicate verbally just fine, but with his hearing going down the drain by the year and his migraines making it hard to think, let alone talk, he figured he might as well.
You open Eddie's door with a flourish. Your eyes were big, and shiny while pulling him inside where Eddie was already stretched out in the living room. He's got a tiny figurine in one hand and the world's smallest paint brush in the other.
"Geeze, Munson. Careful or else you'll start wearing glasses like me." Steve snarks to avoid focusing too much on the furrowed brow of concentration on Eddie's face. The delicate way he paints the tiny shield of the figurine. Something Steve hadn't thought Eddie could do.
"Look who finally showed up, and with beer! You're worming right into my heart here, Harrington." Eddie jokes, reaching over to grab a can before taking a guzzling sip. You have Steve sit in the middle of you and Eddie, so he's boxed in, not that he minds all that much. Sure, the floor wasn't all that comfortable, but he was too distracted by the two of you to care.
You have your project spread out before you. You had paint at the ready, the beads and dominos carefully laid out as well. There’s some wire and some other tools that he didn’t know the name of.
“So…your making a..?” Steve trails off, knowing that Eddie told him but forgetting all the while. Even before everything, he had a hard time remembering things, but now a days he found himself forgetting more then usual.
You didn’t seem to mind, though. ‘A fruit belt! Its based off my favorite fruits.’ He admired the doodle you made. “It’s cute.” He admits, wondering if he’ll ever see you wearing it. “Though…how are you gonna get it to go through the loops of your pants..?” He asked, eyeing the tiny metal eyelets dubiously.
Shaking your head, you flip to the next page. He watches the way the little puffball on your pen sways with the vigor of your writing. You probably had great essays, he thinks.
‘I have a lot of baggy shirts, and I thought this would cinch them in a bit. Plus, the idea is just cool!’
He nods, not really having any reason to disagree even if it wasn’t how he normally wore a belt. Though, fashion in general didn’t really make much sense to him. Most of his fashion advice just came from what his parents wanted, or what girls said he looked nice in.
A tap on the shoulder startles Steve. The former jock whirling around to look at Eddie, who jumps as well. “Shit! Hey, I just…did you hear me? Just now?” He asked, brows lifting as Steve stares at him blankly.
“I just…what did you bring to work on?” Eddie pointed out Steve’s little pad of paper. Steve hesitated, lightly drumming his fingers on the cardboard cover.
"...I..thought I could…color this. And stuff." He taps at the book. "I've been um, forgetting things a lot. Having a hard time…hearing." It felt weird to admit this to the couple, but then again, he might as well be truthful.
You perked up, scooping up your book and making a vague gesture towards his. You were smiling, and Steve's face was burning as you put two and two together.
"Yeah, it seemed to be really helping you, so…" He shrugged and Eddie's lips turned up into a slow smile. "Cool. What are you gonna paint on it?"
Steve paused, now faced uncertainty. "I…didn't get that far. This stuff isn't really my…wheelhouse?" He gazed at the cover, his artistic career over before it even began. Though it seems you weren't ready for that yet.
'well, what do you like?' You ask, turning towards him with raised eyebrows. 'that's what inspires me, along with my outfits or an accessory.'
Steve bites the inside of his cheek. He knew the answer, but was mindful of the company he was keeping right now. Eddie, 'throwing balls into laundry baskets' Munson was right next to him. But Eddie was eyeing him curiously, and you looked so eager to hear the answer…
“Maybe…some baseball, or basketball?” Steve admitted, ignoring the faint fizzle of disappointment when Eddie scoffed. You leaned over, shoving Eddie on the shoulder, much to the metalhead’s protest. You gave your boyfriend a glare, hands on your hips.
“Fine, fine, christ. What were you thinking exactly? Like, a hoop? Or a bunch of balls?” Eddie asked, gesturing with his hand while trying his best to not roll his eyes again. Steve shrugged, tapping at the cover. “Was thinking about a bat actually. Or maybe something water related?”
‘I think either of those sound really cool. I have stencils in case you wanna add one of the balls to it?’ You hand over the floppy plastic, and Steve chalked it up to the light but he was sure your cheeks tinged pink when your hands brushed his. You also handed him rulers, pens, and paint.
Vaguely he remembers going over colors in art class. Red and blue make purple, red and yellow make orange, blue and yellow make green. He looks at the paint in both your pallets, the colors swirled and mixed into a rainbow of shades and hues. He starts with blue first. His glob of paint was a bit too big, and it only got worse when he tried adding white to make it lighter.
Shifting to look between you two, his puddle of blue doesn’t seem to phase either of you, so he just starts painting. He loads his brush with tons of paint, slathering the front of his notebook with it until the entire thing was covered and oh no, why was it bending, shit, yours didn’t bend like this-
“Uh, you want me to grab a hair dryer? That’s gonna take years to dry otherwise.” Eddie cuts in, eyeing the globs of blue on the paint. The paint wasn’t even fully mixed, so streaks of white marbled the over saturated cardboard. It was kind of pretty, but not what Steve had planned. “Uh, sure, yeah. Thanks.”
Shifting in his spot, Steve stared at the mess with a sinking feeling. Honestly, he knew it probably wasn’t going to look great. Art really wasn’t his thing. He liked it, but he didn’t usually stare at a painting and feel some sort of desire to do the same thing. Usually it was just him trying to find the ‘meaning’ that Robin told him about. What meaning was there to find in a bowl of fruit other than pretty colors? The guy was probably hungry when painting it, maybe?
He felt a tap to his shoulder, his head shifting over to look at you. At the paintbrush in your hands. Your notebook is laid there, the length of your previous conversation with him growing and growing.
‘Paint goes a long way! Though trust me, I’ve also had that happen a ton of times. While you wait for it to dry, do you wanna paint some dominos with me? I have the paint mixed already. :)’
“Oh, yeah.”
Picking up the brush once again, Steve eyed the way you scooped up the paint. A much smaller blob then his previous one, and smoothed it over the ivory plastic. He follows your lead, frowning slightly as it doesnt come out as smooth as yours. Little bumps and lines of paint that looked similar to his old elementary projects. Still, it was kind of nice. Watching the color cover the once blank canvas. “How do you get yours so smooth?” He muttered, looking between your pieces.
You reach for your pad, pause at the paint on your fingers, before shaking your head and turning towards him fully. Gesturing with your hand for him to watch how you do it. He turns, shifting a bit as his knee bumps into yours. You grab another domino, your paintbrush dipping and grabbing a frankly minuscule amount of paint in his opinion. You slide the brush across the domino, and it makes those same bumpy ridges that were annoying him before. You smooth it out with your brush, laying it out with the others before grabbing yet another domino.
This time you scrape the sides of the brush, and the paint glides on smoothly this time, like it was dyed instead of painted. You smile and show him again, and again until you encourage him to pick up his brush and try it out. Honestly, he could understand the appeal once he managed to get that smooth stroke down. Kind of like when he really perfected his baseball swing to get that strong, nearly effortless looking glide.
You reacted a lot nicer than his coaches, though. Beaming at him, and nodding in praise as he kept painting. It wasn’t perfect and there were moments where the paint still beaded up or looked patchy, but you were proud of him. That counted for something. You didn’t remark on how he should have picked it up faster, or how this was easy shit and everybody else could have done it. Didn’t say he was stupid, or dumb. It was nice, really nice. Still, it’s not long before he remembers you’re going to be wearing this, whatever it came to be.
“Hey, if you uh…need to re-do any of mine, it’s fine, Y’know? I get it.” He murmurs after a few dominos. “They’re kinda patchy. Don’t look as good as yours.” And after all, it really was fine. He couldn’t blame you for it. You were probably just trying to give him something to do after he basically fucked up his notepad. There was no way that was going to dry with that much paint on it, he realizes that now. Now he was going to have to go home with it, probably ruined.
There was a moment where you looked between the two growing piles before shaking your head. ‘They look good, Steve. Once they dry, do you want to help me put on a second coat? I need to do the same for mine. Usually these need a few coats before they really look good.’
He glances at your work, and doesn’t really see what you mean, but hey, he kind of liked this painting thing. Might as well keep it going, even if he sucked. “Sure.”
Eddie finally came back with the dryer in hand. It’s an old, clunky thing that rattles when the metalhead moves. The plastic coating that protects the wire is worn in a few spots, but it roars to life when Eddie plugs it in. “Let’s leave it in the kitchen, yeah?” He offers, scooping up the gloopy book carefully. “While m’ in here, you hungry?? Could order pizza? What’ya say baby?” He calls, turning the dryer on before popping his head out to look at you.
Steve ignores the faint heat on his face at the thought of Eddie talking to him, like that. To the both of you really. Being his baby, your baby.
“Hey, Steve?”
Blinking, Steve snapped his head up. You both were staring at him, expectantly. He blinks again and Eddie makes a snorting noise. “Are you hungry, man? What do you like on your pizza?”
“Oh! Uh, anything. Whatever you guys want, don’t really care.”
"Anchovies with pineapple and mustard it is!"
Steve retched before he could stop himself. "What?"
"What, you said whatever we wanted? Felt like getting our special, right baby?" He grins over at you, and despite your wrinkling nose you nod with a smile. Though Steve rolled his eyes.
"There is no fucking way you actually eat that." Steve deadpanned, stabbing towards him with the end of his paint brush. "Hell, ten bucks says you'll both puke."
"You're on!"
You sit up in your seat, suddenly a lot less amused. You hold your finger up to Steve, indicating you needed a minute before hurrying after your boyfriend. Steve can't help the smile crossing his lips as he hears Eddie laughing and apologizing in the kitchen. Not even trying to hide it.
"I was just calling his bluff Bun, I'll eat it, okay?"
Eddie's voice dipped softer to where Steve couldn't hear him anymore. He hesitated before slowly leaning over to peer at the couple.
Eddie has his hands cupped over your cheeks, thumbs brushing the soft skin. He has such a soft smile, and his eyes are like liquid chocolate when it comes to looking at you. You're brushing his hair away from his face, caressing his temple, adorable pout still on your face even with the tender gesture.
God, Steve didn't know who he wanted to be more at that moment. Get to feel your sweet touch, or to feel Eddie's? Or maybe he could get both, be boxed in between you two again.
Steve startles when Eddie catches his eye. There's a glint in his and Steve leans back with a panicked grunt. Oh fuck, he hadn't gotten caught as of yet, and he wasn't sure what would happen if they did. Could he handle it?
"Alright, pizza's ordered Steve!" Eddie called from the kitchen, leaving the jock to let out a sigh.
-
Three pizza's ended up coming to the munson trailer. The anchovy and pineapple was at the top, looking just as gross. Eddie made a point to squeeze the mustard upon it artfully, a gleeful grin on his lips upon seeing Steve's mouth turn down in displeasure.
"Don't worry, we got some others too, in case you truly don't want this masterpiece." Eddie teases, nodding towards the boxes. You were already digging into one of the boxes, a gleeful smile on your face. Steve settles on the third box, pepperoni and cheese.
"Okay, I'm changing the bet, twenty five bucks says you won't make it through the first slice." Steve shoots back, narrowing his eyes.
"Seventy five, and I'll eat half in one sitting."
"A hundred if you eat that whole thing."
Eddie's eyes widened for a moment before he let out a small scoff before offering a hand. "Deal, hope you got that sweet dough in the pocket of those tight jeans of yours."
Feeling heat crawling up his neck, Steve reaches out and clasps Eddie's hand. "Don't worry about that, man. Just focus on that shit you call pizza."
The doorbell rings a second time, and Robin steps in with a rush of apologies. “I’m so sorry, I got side tracked, and I didn’t know what to bring- Oh my god what is that-“
While you’re explaining to Robin the unfortunate bet, Steve offers a wave before going back to painting. Slowly dragging the color across until it was smoothly covered. He watched the way Eddie gobbled at his pizza, suppressing his laugh the entire time.
Robin soon plopped down across from him, and maybe you were just as opportunistic as Eddie, because you also eagerly suggested she help paint the dominos. “Sure! Though, it probably won’t end up good. Whenever I paint, I either use too much paint or too little and it looks patchy..”
“I can help, here.”
Steve wasn’t sure why he offered, but soon ended up showing her the technique you had. Robin caught on pretty quick, which he expected, and soon it was a small circle of painting.
“Didn’t know you painted, Dingus.” Robin comments with a smile, gently nudging him and Steve shrugs. “Not really, had a good teacher.” He turns to look over at you, and he adores the bashful look on your face. He could absolutely get used to seeing it more often.

ok time to do my usual breadpost of the christmas chapter, even if its a bonus chapter i think it points to some rly neat stuff 🤔
Tumblr media
first things first. matching hairclips <333
Tumblr media
i rly love the lineless style used in this page (tbh it influenced my last art of sar its such a nice look and smthng i should do more often myself). also the cookie at the center is the generic demon clipart from ch4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bonbien nation is having a christmas miracle tonite ‼️ seeing their human-ish forms is always so cool and also i love the little detail of bien wagging his tail there lol
the idea of them decorating the cookies morbidly to make use of bien breaking all the cookies is rly cute and i think its nice to see bon sort of just working around bien like that hehehe
but anyway time for the evil part of the comic
Tumblr media
almost missed this but this cookie resembles reception (ear muff, green eye and mouth) and we already know bien is probably gonna fight reception eventually so 🤨
Tumblr media
SAR MENTIONED!!!!! my evil unwilling kinnie boiii
its fascinating that he becomes more polish anselirian each update, i think his love for his culture leads some more evidence to the idea of marginals being cultural colonizers. the chapter already defines oplatek which i searched more of, the definition he gives is accurate and its a polish catholic tradition. (also its interesting that poland is mostly catholic because maldevara, which is said to be loosely based on the philippines is also a catholic country, i wonder if catholic imagery gets more significant later). besides the oplatek his outfit seems to be based on traditional polish costume (the female costume ofc)
Tumblr media
the format is similar to i1-p5rd but with more art, as in instead of sar speaking "in comic" his words are in prose. similar to i1-p5rd too bien doesnt speak at all (in fact i just realized even in the part with bon he also doesnt speak, which iirc its the first comic in breadavota without dialogs) we also still dont see what bien looks like, the atmosphere of sar taking control of bien feels perpetuated here again from how we know bien is there and we can assume he CAN still talk because sars dialogs show him responding to things bien said but we never get to see bien himself
Judges don't celebrate any holidays, so I haven't actually celebrated anything with anybody since my mother died.
sar mom mentioned again, almost thought this was new but remembered she was mentioned in the study paper in i1-p5rd
the drawing in i1-p5rd had the same glitchy bg effects but i thought it was stylistic for that illustration, but them being used again in this chapter implied this might have to do more with how bien perceives the world itself. like look at that chair those r a fucking minecraft chair
Tumblr media
interestingly, the bg in i1p5 also has a somewhat glitchy appearance albeit it still looks "drawn" (unlike in the newer drawings where they look more pixellated). the narration in i1-p5 itself does directly state that the world "sounds" weird to bien with things specifically he describes colors as "grating" and things looking "scratchy" which fits how to describe the stylistic differences in this drawings compared to most of breadavotas art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ignore shitty yt quality but sar himself looks the same as the background but without the blur, and in the narration bien says sar is the clearest thing in the room. its notable that after the unseen Spinal Cord Surgery sar became rendered in the usual cleaner art style of the bread illustrations but the background became even "scratchier" with more "grating" colors. makes u think
Tumblr media
the oplatek shows probably mary and jesus which is a usual picture printed on oplateks. idk if on purpose but i think its intersting that sar specifically splits between the mother and the son here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
on top of that, sar also specifically eats the piece with the son and gives the piece with the mother to bien. eating already is a minor but consistent theme in breadavota, like for bread consuming the "breadlings" and getting the power to use their body parts, or with marginals learning how to reconstruct what they "consume" eating in breadavota fits some traditional beliefs in cannibalism where its said that its a way to "absorb" attributes of the person ur eating. on top of that for the marginals at least eating is also treated as an act of obsessive love, w/ anthony repeatedly shown to take after media/marginals as a whole most likely from living around them since he was a kid he would definitely be aware of this and it fits his yandere like vibes alot tbh
the symbolism of bien eating the mother (or in his case probably symbolizing bon) is very curious. thinking emoji times one millions
Say "ah!"
literally two words but love this line for two reasons: one is it continues the tradition of sar telling bien to say __ in a funny way but also it implies sar didnt even give the wafer for bien to eat but he FED it to him. hes so normal

( HAPPY BIRTHDAY PROMPTO!! | @royalarms )
❛ hey . ❜ the greeting seems cool & unbothered to most , but there's a certain uncertainty that might be sensed by any who know him more personally . he approaches his friend with hands stiff in his pockets & blue irises that wander anywhere to avoid the contact with the cherished man's before him . but , he knows he'll only make their situation uncomfortable if he continues to stand there , so he cuts to the chase with a much less awkward approach , ❛ it's your big day , yeah ? don't think i forgot . ❜ & he summons a couple items , all placed in a carefully organized in a gradient orange - yellow paper bag ( re - imagined by ignis , because noct's first attempt at its presentation went miserably ) . within it sits some contrast & color - correcting lens filters , as well as an insomnian photography magazine featuring some of prompto's signature work on the front page . he'd managed to pull some strings . there is an assortment of scattered candy at the bottom & a gift card to their favorite high school burger joint . there's also a signed card with the first polaroid photo prompto made noctis take in their younger years . he cherishes the photo greatly , & it has remained pristine through its age . he has another couple of pictures in his wallet , so he'd thought prompto might appreciate the sentiment . it's not often noctis allows himself to sit in the nostalgia of their history . ❛ come on . we've got stuff to do today . ❜ he urges him through the process of opening his gift , that he might not think too hard on it .
❝ hey,❞ the greeting was returned with a smile, prompto rising to his feet at the prince's arrival. the lack of a birthday acknowledgement right away didn't bother him. all he wanted was to spend time with his friend anyways, & he didn't care whether that came with any of the usual birthday expectations or not, as long as they got to have some fun.
he should have known better, though. as nonchalant as noctis seemed, there was always more going on than he sought to reveal. he knew the signs that showed that noctis was feeling uncomfortable, but before he could ask about the stiff stance or avoiding eyes, his best friend supplied undeniable proof that the day hadn't been forgotten. the sudden appearance of the paper bag ( in a series of prompto's favorite colors–––– ones that reminded him of his favorite pictures of the sunset ) almost made him jump.
Tumblr media
❝ that's a serious misuse of the armiger. does iggy know you kept this there? ❞ he couldn't help but joke in hopes that noctis would take his wide, excited grin as a reaction to his tease instead of anticipation of what awaited him inside the bag. his earlier thought was true, he really wouldn't have minded if noctis had gotten him nothing. but, the fact that there was something filled him with a rush of warmth. a reminder that he was cared for by those he cared for.
❝ but, really, dude, thank you! you didn't have to get me anything! ❞ he felt a bit childish, sitting on the floor to dig through the tissue paper ( clearly packed in by ignis, he'd have to remember to thank him too, later ), but it was the best way to conceal his bouncing legs & jittery hands & avoid dropping anything that noctis had been kind enough to get him.
the handful of lens filters would have been more than enough. as he looked at each, he couldn't stop himself from rambling about what he could use them for–––– they'd be added to his camera bag as soon as he was able to do so, that he promised.
at first, he'd just thought that noctis had scored him an advanced copy of one of the photography magazines he grabbed from time to time. but, then he realized the picture on the cover looked familiar. & then he realized that it was because it was his.
❝ oh––––em–––– gee! how did you score this, noct!? this is awesome! i gotta get this framed–––– i gotta take a photo with my phone to show everyone & then get it framed! this is so cool! ❞ if he could have hugged the magazine without wrinkling it, he would have! but, there was still more to see.
he tossed one of the pieces of candies to noctis & extracted promises that they'd visit the burger joint during the week so he could splurge & use the gift card before prompto realized that he'd made a huge error.
❝ oh, wait, i was supposed to open the card first, right? sorry, dude! i'll open this now! ❞
true to his word, he opened the card, immediately falling still as he caught sight of what was inside.
❝ is this––––? ❞ he didn't have to finish the question, he knew exactly what picture he was looking at. the first polaroid that they'd ever taken together. his eyes grazed over their smiles, loose ties & unopened books. just off to the edge of the picture, prompto's thumb was just slightly in frame. ❝ dude, i didn't know you still had this! ❞
this he had to frame. he wanted to preserve it. he wanted to pull it out when they were old & noctis had been king for decades & go–––– look how young & stupid we were! & he was going to make sure he was able to.
❝ thanks, noct. seriously, all this it's...it's awesome. ❞
keeping the emotion out of his voice was impossible & it was his turn to avoid noctis' eyes as he packed his items back into the bag ( taking great care with the card with the photo in it ).
Tumblr media
❝ stuff, huh? there's more? ❞ he hopped to his feet, brushing himself off.
❝ alright, off we go! lead the way! ❞

[This is really loooong, but since your questions in both posts tie into one another, I figured you'd rather have it in one go. It's also speculative and I encourage anyone reading to do their own critical thinking.]
Late last year, like @kryptoniancape suggests, seems to fit the timeline for the change of gear, but I don't think it has anything to do with Melissa and her supposed leave. AMC doesn't mention this clean and easy out, and their press release would have had to pass through Legal. They struck franchise wide deals with the actors and the only reason you 'exit' a project is if there's a paper trail to complete. MMB was locked into the first season of the spinoff.
Remember when the talk about the subpar feature scripts resurfaced? Whatever options deal Gimple had with AMC expired at that point. That's when the studio had to decide how to bring Rick back.
Melissa might have wanted to have the summer off, but do you believe she's naive enough to assume she'd still have a career if she takes a leave of absence? An actress woman her age retires if she takes an extended leave. (A vacation after a crazy long season isn't leave.) We only have this assertion from NR and JDM, and honestly? It sounds like publicist spin to make an actor more likable, "Look, he has his costar's best interest at heart. Isn't he a sweet guy? Watch his show!" Both of these guys have quite a lot riding on those spinoffs being successful.
What is Lauren Cohan saying? She also has a stake with AMC. Has she told anyone that her good friend Mel needs a break, so quit being so toxic and watch her show instead?
Take what I say with a grain of salt since most of this is conjecture, even if it's based on my experience in the industry, but always pay attention to what isn't said. Most often, there's a wealth of information in silence because like MT has said before, TV operates on personal connections and you need to keep at least a glossy veneer with people. Circles are small. You don't want to make enemies if you can avoid it and we all love plausible deniability.
This whole mess is managed by studio executives and the legal department, and to a degree, NR and his management team. There's a host of people making a tidy sum off their earnings, so an actor's opinion in these types of situations is very rarely their homegrown output. There will have been meetings discussing what their opinion should be, with outcome probabilities for those options.
I don't think there needs to be crazy editing for the finale. Whatever we end up with is what AMC intended all along.
Remember how AK said there were discussions of how to end Leah and what we got was because "Norman wanted to just shoot her"? Take a moment to think about that and its implications. Good showrunners keep an open door to their actors, but they don't have an invite to the writers room to break the season arc. AK also isn't telling us who was part of that talk and most people probably infer it was an informal chat between her and NR. What's her point in sharing? Do we think that's a funny anecdote of how approachable she is and what a cool dude NR is?
The fact that Daryl has hoarded over a decade's worth of Clairol should also tell the viewer things. NR's team is trying to sell the image of a virile man in his prime, a panty dropper. That's why he hasn't wanted any romance for Daryl, claiming there's already enough of that on the show to go around. His brand is alluring bad boy and tying his character to an age appropriate woman who hasn't dipped into Daryl's secret stash of hair color?
His team is looking at the bottom line and trying to ensure their livelihood. Why do you think he's diversifying his income, with whiskey and novels?
I wouldn't be at all surprised if 'Daryl is the most popular character' is pure marketing. He's the only character original to the show (without a comic book template) so AMC owns the rights outright. I think viewers like Daryl a lot, but he's a reactive character, not an instigator and he needs Rick and Carol to come into his own. Obviously, I don't have access to AMC's market research, but I suspect that those two characters are the ones who are drawing an audience.
Think about TV shows in general (and a decade back in time), why would a show that keeps killing off its cast, keep Carol alive for the duration of its run? Whether you love her or love to hate her, the network has people talking about their show and Rick is a conventional hero, so you have another segment of the audience right there.
AMC will want to keep the Caryl viewership because it's not an insignificant number, so they'll dangle that possibility as long as they can. I have a few theories on what might happen and they're depressing enough that I'll just keep them to myself.
The only thing I can claim to know for sure is that the Daryl solo spinoff isn't a recent development. Pre-production takes too long for a shoot to happen this summer if you didn't start planning before April. That's the only thing I can say to be objectively true. Everything else I've said is subjective to varying degree and I hope I'm wrong.
Thank you for taking the time to explain. Like I said, I find your insight very helpful even if it is just speculation. You are always welcome to share your theories even if you think they're depressing. Honestly everything is just depressing now anyway.

sorry in advance if you've already answered a question like this but i just wanted to ask, how do you improve on drawing?? i think especially for things like coloring, shading, and lighting , its been difficult for me to be happy with how it looks because compared to the sketch (that i think already looks nice) the colors just seem sort of flat and muddy and i feel like i dont have a good grip on what colors to put where and how to make it look unflatt if that makes sense! just curious on maybe what kinds of practices and studying you do for this(if any))<33 obv you dont have to answer if you dont want to, and thank you for being one of my inspirations, love youu<33333
hihi!! for simply shading/lighting, i would suggest you only work in black and white until you're totally comfortable with developing values. why? marco bucci explains it really nicely in this video but basically if you have good values u can have absolutely garbage nonsense colors and it will still make sense aka when i did this lol:
Tumblr media
i'm guessing you're more interested in colored artwork though since black and white drawings can't be "flat and muddy" bc theyre in grayscale lol. for coloring, this is so tough for me too so i thought about this for a day or so and i came up with 3 tips that might help^^ 1) getting colors directly from photo reference or color reference, 2) manually adding filters/color harmony, and 3) studying color theory
i always work from photo reference so it informs a lot of my coloring/shading/lighting and often when i don't understand what color I'm looking at i directly just eye drop it and realize that what i thought was purple was actually just a gray-red. working from an actual picture helps make sure my colors don't look strange and while i used to think eye-dropping felt like "cheating" when i worked digitally honestly i've learned a lot from it and honestly if i stare at a color long enough i can get it pretty accurately now but i'm just too lazy so eye-dropping just speeds up my workflow (plus i hate digital color pickers anyways they r not built for artists and i wrote an entire paper on it in college once lmao) anyways here's an example of a color study i did by directly eye-dropping from a gif with @quokki's incredible coloring (love u ale <3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you're not working from a picture directly, you can still use other pictures or artwork as a "color reference" which I used to do a lot. i like to look at art from other ppl with pretty colors and create a color palette to use in my own drawings. for example, the color palette for this felix painting came from a piece (idr which) by Simón Prades on instagram but this palette is really easy to use since it's linear values it's like working in black and white but comes out looking cooler LOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Recently for my lee know kiki's delivery service drawing i felt that the colors seemed a little flat n muddy to me because it was in an animated flat coloring style (lol) so I added a filter layer (just a flat apricot color set to overlay at 25% on photoshop) that livened up the whole thing and made it feel more cohesive. It's a pretty subtle difference to other people but made a world of difference to me :) it helped take the muddiness out of the shadows of his face and the glass reflection and took the painting from gloomy rainy day with stale bread to warm sunny day with fresh bread :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and finally if u are interested in actually studying colors and lighting and shading and stuff these r some of the youtube videos and channels that i think do a great job explaining these very cool concepts:
pre-realism vs post-realism is a cool video about the difference between the mentality of how beginners draw vs how experts draw and kinda blew my mind tbh i think the big color takeaway from this video is that something that kids would color (like green grass) might actually be a totally different color to an artist's eye (dark yellow, red gray, even a super desaturated purple) depending on a realistic lighting situation
nathan fowkes did a 3-part guest talk series on understanding color temperature and relationships: (1) (2) (3) also not coloring but i love his video on value massing
this lecture on what charles bernard calls "the mother color principle" takes the "filtering" tip that i mentioned earlier to a much more developed level (it's an hour long so just skip through it.. u get the gist of what he's saying in a few min but the whole demo is also cool too)
i mentioned him earlier but marco bucci has many 10 min digestable videos about color on his channel that i like :) (also this lighting/value video is great too)
sorry i don't really know exactly how basic or advanced i should cater my advice but i hope this helps some anon^^ lmk if u have questions or if u ever want feedback my inbox and dms r always open

OKAY niche post: kpop boy group tomorrow x together as a killjoy gang
Soobin
Obviously soobin’s the babysitter
Killjoy name: sth goofy like Fanboy Steve or Blonde Bombshell he doesn’t take himself seriously enough to think of sth too cool
Gang medic
Constantly getting the gang out of trouble
Signature colors: blue, white, orange. Keeps his hair blonde.
Yeonjun
Resident fairy godmother and motor baby
Killjoy name: sth he thinks sounds cool as hell but actually sounds super cheesy, sth like Puma Dan or Cowabunga Kitty
Designated driver
Has cheated death way too many times due to provoking dracs a little too much
Signature colors: neon pink, sky blue, and black (very specific abt the shades he uses). Usually keeps his hair pink but he alternates
Beomgyu
CRASH QUEEN!!!!
Killjoy name: something cutesy probably, like Asteroid Bear or Benny Glitter
Hosts a radio show
Shoots acoustic
Color scheme: red, white, and pink. Keeps his hair natural brown most of the time but switches it up every once in a while
Taehyun
Batt rat, ex tumbleweed
Killjoy name: either something really cute like Terry Twinkle or sth rlly random like Tiger Lunch
Gangs resident smithy
Knows slight of hand so when he first came to the zones he’d just survive off pickpocketing and shit
Color scheme: pink, purple, orange. Keeps his hair pink
Kai
Batt rat (2), was snatched up by soobin literally an hour after he left the city
Killjoy mame: DEFINITELY sth super cutesy. I’m thinkin Desert Penguin or like Satellite Sunshine
Paper boy for Beomgyu’s show
String kinggggg
Color scheme: blue, green, yellow. Usually has his hair blue or blonde
Other thoughts
I don’t think they’d be called tomorrow x together fjfnnf their gang would probably have like a celestial name, like Meteor Bros or Planet Posse (they know their name is dumb but its camp and they couldn’t think of anything better)
They’re based out of zone 3 and operate a lighthouse out there
Beomgyu absolutely REFUSES to eat power pup and relies almost solely on the witches garden and batt food. Don’t ask him how he is able to manage that, you probably won’t like the answer.
Soobin is banned from tommy’s. No one (not even soobin) knows why, but every time the guys stop by, soobin has to wait in the car
Taehyun really really wants to get a motorcycle, but every time he brings it up the other 4 boys scream at him for 40 mins straight abt how he’d probably die if he tried driving one and they cant afford to lose their smithy with how often yeonjun gets them into firefights
Yeonjun does sun skin more often than not and often makes their raids go south bc they left late due to yeonjun taking too long to put his glitter on
Kai is like king of casual joy parties. Loves to throw bonfires and picnics, scours the zones and outer city for glow sticks and shit to hand out to everyone who comes. He always has extra blankets around for people to sit on.
One of their closest allies is an absolutely massive gang from zone 2 made up entirely of lesbians. Theres like 30 of them, so whenever they need backup, their opponent just gets entirely fuckin swarmed by sapphics with guns
Ok thats all i got for now lol i might draw them/add more shit later i am literally writing this at 1 am

Miniature Project: Happy Camper Caravan (Rolife)
Tumblr media
Okay, here's the first project where I got really silly with it! I made a LOT of changes to the og Rolife kit; I made all the outside furniture from scratch, added an awning and a shelf and a fence, and even completely revamped the interior as well.
These official pictures show a little of the original kit's features:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The exterior was cute but the weird little signs and paper-based grass and BBQ weren't terribly inspiring, while the inside was just a few random kitchen elements with a printed floor and printed carpet. The bed was just a fabric platform (with a plate of fruit on it??) and the colors were mainly brown and yellow in contrast to the cute pastel exterior.
So of course I completely remodeled the caravan:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used math paper to paint floor tiles and also hand-painted all of the wallpaper. The kitchen bench is painted with sparkly nail-polish for that Formica look, and I made utensils, a fruit bowl (from a cool button), a shelf of containers and cups, and of course a tiny camping fridge! The little stove is also a remodel, but I kept the tiny chopping board and fruit.
Tumblr media
The 'bedroom' features a shelf of toiletries, comfy blankets and pillows, books, plants and a little postcard taken from notepaper.
I also added a little ivy-leaf mobile to balance out the composition:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(From the second picture there you can see the repaint of the og kit chair and a little pastel-themed handbag under the bench.)
The final touch was a little pile of camp activities on the bed:
Tumblr media
By far the most work on the exterior was finding a suitable finish for the paintwork. I eventually settled on pink printer paper, painted over with a brighter pink acrylic paint, and finished with two layers of clear nail polish.
Tumblr media
Also time consuming was creating the base; the kit just came with a printed grass cutout and some plastic moss powder. I added gravel under the caravan (as most campsites might have), larger pebbles and plastic grass strands, dried grass and plants that resemble lilies and harakeke, often seen in the wilder areas of Aotearoa. The mat is cut from a place-mat.
Tumblr media
I also made a cool wire-and-post fence! I only really had access to that thicker wire at the time, so its not completely to scale, but it looks amazing anyway.
Here are some details~!
Tumblr media
On the roof-rack we have plenty of luggage and a guitar, and I added a towel (and improved the rack as it sat too high on the og kit),
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whoever lives here is prepping for a hike and a picnic! They have their retro ipod, maps (printed from real pamphlets found online), headphones and of course a picnic basket with snacks and sunnies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plants decorate the flat surfaces outside. I made the shelf from scratch as the kit came with a weird brown table thing that I didn't like. I also used the shelf to make an extra light for the outside, as the kit only had the one light on the inside. The lantern is a plastic straw large enough for the LED with a cardboard cuff and a button on top.
Tumblr media
The BBQ area is a little under-decorated, mainly because I ran out of ideas for this area. I have some plans to finish it with some BBQ tools and crockery. Proud of the tiny jandals, though!
Tumblr media
A big kitty at the back, alongside the revamped bumper. The plate comes from some travel-themed scrapbooking paper (ignore that its from colorado lol). The cat was found at the thrift store, badly worn and covered in stickers (someone had tried to turn him into a pendant!). I cleaned him up and painted in some details - now he's the campsite cat~ (of course in real life, all cats should be kept inside for their own safety and for the conservation of local wildlife)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peeking in through the windows! And the door:
Tumblr media
So yeah, while I do have a few more ideas to keep adding to it, I'd say the Happy Camper kit is just about finished!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kit makes a great starting point for a more advanced project, but I didn't use much of the original furniture or even the smaller elements. Overall this was an amazing project for me because I love camping So Much (I have like five lego campervan kits lol) and I just had so many ideas as I was making it.

The Crocheting Witch by R.J. Montgomery
Tumblr media
I know I have other books I ought to be reading right now, but the library asked for this back, so I’m on a bit of a time crunch here.
New book, hot off the presses! The Crocheting Witch starts, as every book that is not text-heavy often does, with a text heavy introduction, where the author lays out what inspired them to write the book, what makes them love to crochet, how crocheting has helped them in life, and how it has helped them find tangibility and self-autonomy in witchcraft. This book is really a love project, and it shows. All the pictures are nice and glossy. The book is heavy because it uses nice, thick paper, just to make clear that you can see not only what they’re doing, but so that you can see the possibilities of using crochet as your medium for mindfulness and witchcraft.
Tldr: It delivered on its promises, and I liked it a lot!
So. Key notes. Firstly, the author makes it suuuuper clear at the beginning that she expects you to know at least the baby basics of crochet, as well as how to read a baby basic pattern. I think this is a reasonable standard. If you really, really, want to pick up crocheting from this book, you can get by with keeping a Crocheting 101 text or Pinterest at your side, but I recommend taking a youtube crocheting course or two, or going to a stitch and bitch at least once, before popping this book open. It does explain what the author is showing you, but there is the issue of knowing the terms and acronyms used in the explanation that depends on your personal knowledge. But it does offer patterns for simple crochet stitches! So it’s not as if you need to know how to alligator stitch or anything. These seem to be reasonable, simple patterns. And they include graphs! Like every pattern ought to!
The book comes with lots of tips on how to incorporate elements of witchcraft into your crocheted work, or how to use your crocheting to manifest your work, such as incorporating numerology or sigils into your crafted pieces. There are correspondences included. They include...genders...and essential oils...as well as colors and numerology and other symbolism one may be accustomed to. If you’re like me, you understand that gender is a whack way to describe an object for a whole host of reasons, and that essential oils may radically fuck you up in real time. Those correspondences are technically optional, though, so just...keep an eye out for that. I would like you to live long, unburned, unasthmatic lives. Ideally.
And, be guarded: there is a mention of witchtok. Hold onto your hats. It’s brief, but I was scarred for life./j
There are patterns for altar mats and poppets and drawstring bags and all sorts of useful things that could be found on any altar or reading table. Truly, I have made different versions out of all of these things when I spent more time crocheting myself. They’re useful things, and crocheting is a useful skill in witchcraft, and having an author provide ready-made patterns is much easier than having to go off of your own desperation and ingenuity and an ill-fitting hook. These are really useful patterns to have in your back pocket, assuming you can read them, and I was really happy to see the variety of options for paths and patterns in this book!
There’s even adorable patterns for tea cozies for a kettle and a witch’s hat! I’d love to make both of these one day. (I ought to save the pattern before I return it...)
Now, as I am legally obligated, here are the sum of my notes on cultural appropriation: There was a weird moment in the beginning where the author referred to how, like Wicca, “Buddhism can be applied to many faiths and walks of life”, which is odd, because both of those entities are standalone religions, and although Buddhism does not operate as a western religion might, it is still its own entity with its own culture and religious practices. Not super cool. Also, Wicca is a standalone religion. Witchcraft is not Wicca. One does not pick up Wicca and apply it to some outside source like Christianity, to make an example. This is weird. I am uncomfortable with boiling down my religion to one of its favorite (but optional!) practices.
The author also uses the third eye motif, completely separated from the context of either Chakras or the culture the idea it comes from, repeatedly throughout the book. It’s in their socials. It’s in one of their patterns, even. I’m going to put both of these down as “this author grew up in the White New Age movement so their understanding of cultural boundaries is kind of shaky”, as even the subtitle of the book is “New Age Arts and Crafts”, but. You know. It is a little weird. Kind of took me out of the joy of reading a book on a topic I like combined with another topic I liked. I’m giving it a 1/10 on the Cultural Appropriation scale; it’s not a clean read, but if you skipped the intro and just focused on the patterns you liked, you might not even notice anything could possibly be amiss.
So, because social media is now ubiquitous (curse you F@cebook!), the author may be found on insta @/childerowland89 and on their wordpress, thirdeyecat.wordpress.com. If I used or understood either of these platforms, I would check them out.
Ultimately, I like this book. I would recommend it to any crocheter looking for a stronger connection to witchcraft, but maybe not a witch necessarily looking to start to crochet. It has fun patterns that really do support and benefit your craft, and even encourages you to customize your own patterns and projects to fit your magic’s needs. Grab a copy from the library, put a copy on your shelf. It delivers on its promises, and I enjoyed my quick read-through before the library started demanding ransom.
Blessings!

“Mikey!” Raising his head, your figure came into view, waving enthusiastically at a distance with the wind swaying your school uniform skirt. Classes must have just ended.
While you jog towards your boyfriend, he sat up from his lying position at the side of the riverbank. It seems to be his favorite spot, hearing the soft splash of the river and feeling the cool wind.
“Hey cutie.” His charming smile sent heat your cheeks. Looking quite in the calm mood today, he didn’t jump upon your appearance and drag you to the newest dorayaki stall. You enjoy these moments, it gives you a breather from all the shenanigans that happen often whenever you’re with your lover.
This is just the perfect time to show your gift, isn’t it?
“Look, look!” He could tell you were excited, eyes shining as you took a small box out of the paper bag you were holding on to earlier. “Ta-da!”
It revealed two rings, identical to each other, matching rings. Mikey immediately caught on.
“Oh? Y/N-chan, are you proposing to me? No fair! I wanted to propose first.” He laughed at the playful slap you give him at the arm, apologies spew from his lips paired with giggles.
“I just thought that matching accessories are cute…” your adorable pout made him stretch into a wide smile, pulling you close and nuzzling into the crook of your neck.”
“Yeah, they’re cute. Hey, that means I still get to propose to you in the future, right?”
They came with small, thin chains, giving you the option to slip it through the ring and wear it around your neck. You and Mikey decided to do that, fearing that it’s a lot more easier to lose them when worn on finger, and also it might get dirty when he’s in fights.
“It’s settled, okay? We’re going to marry each other in the future and have mini mes and mini yous.” He announced with a grin.
With both your pinkies hooked, the promise was sealed.
In the dull hospital hallway, rows and rows of chairs were evenly lined, there sat a lone teenager, leaning against the wall as if he’d collapse to the ground if there wasn’t any support. His body felt weak, tired, heavy with guilt and regret.
Sano Manjirou’s eyes were dull, darkened and lost all light and shine it used to bear.
Shinichirou.
Baji.
You.
Draken’s composure faltered. Wide, strong shoulders now slumped and heavy. His fists, for once, were not swinging at bastard’s faces but instead remained at his sides, nails digging in flesh so harshly it was surely leaving indents, maybe drew blood, too. All Draken knew was that he couldn’t feel anything besides the burning pain in his chest.
Outside the quiet room, he could hear Emma’s and Hina’s restrained sobs. Inside the quiet room, lies your cold body covered by a pristine white sheet up to your neck, leaving your face—having lost all its colors—for loved ones to view one last time.
You were precious to him. He considered you as family, meeting you before he met Mikey, befriending you before he had anyone else. He remembers, he’d go to you discreetly asking for advices to court a girl, masking it as just pure curiosity but you knew in the moment who he fancies.
He remembers your shocked expression, soon turning into a mischievous one as you smirked and poked at him, cooing teases and laughed with your whole heart.
A fond memory. One that he couldn’t bring himself to smile at in this moment.
If you were here, looking after them, looking after him, he was sure you’re urging him to comfort the girl he loves, to lend a shoulder, to have each other and mourn together, but Draken find it hard to do that, find it hard to halt his footsteps and cry.
“What happened?”
A silent question, a meaningless one, too. Draken couldn’t care who harmed you, at least not now, because all he could see at the moment was red, anger bubbling in his veins at his friend standing limply in front of him.
“You built Toman to protect everyone, didn’t you?”
He threw a punch, hearing Takemichi’s pleads behind but that did little to stop him. “You were there.” His own screams of frustration rings in the dead of the night. “What were you doing?!”
Draken grits his teeth. “Pah is in juvie.” Landing another heavy punch at his already damaged friend. “Kazutora got arrested.” He sucked in a quick breath, holding his tears at bay. “Baji is dead.”
With one last angry hit, Draken stumbled on his feet, finding it ever so difficult to stand.
“And now Y/N…!”
Unsuccessful. His attempt to stop the flow of tears down his cheeks was unsuccessful for he, no matter what title people have given him, was but a fifteen year old grieving at the loss of a friend.
The ring worn around his friend’s neck that dangles on a string of chain made him stop, made him close his eyes and clench his jaw in fury, tears falling at the cruel reality.
“Are you sure about this? Today’s the 19th of June, you know?”
Kakucho glanced at his leader, who sat cross legged and viewing the moon hung up high, though his back faced him, Kakucho could tell his fingers came around the cold metal circling his neck, fingers trailing from the long chain till the one thing that only mattered to him.
“…Yeah, it’s better this way.”
