#I only wrote 2 sentences for the plot does that even count? I feel like I barely know the difference between plot and outline. LOL

Apparently I only managed to write 50 words* yesterday, but officially today (so far) I’ve written 480 more words! And I am sooooooooooo sleep-deprived! So why does that always happen. :’( Like, awesome, what an accomplishment, and even if the writing is shit I’m still proud that I did it, but why does it so often nowadays depend on me getting no fucking sleep and just managing to feel inspired enough to write! FUCK, it kinda sucks. Sacrifices, apparently. 💔 (Or I don’t know how else to think about it. Too tired to analyze that bit of thinking, I guess. Which is another reason why it’s bad that I’m writing now, dammit! I wanted to be in a better mindset than this to write, ugh...)

I was tagged by @bourbon-ontherocks (ty! 💛💛💛) to answer 20 questions for writers:
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
21!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
278,245
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The only fandom I've ever published fic for is good girls
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Bringing down the neighbourhood
waiting for someone who needs me🧞
What a sight to see🧛🏻
(a) time to kill
yourself and others
I'm not sure the middle 3 would def be there were it not for the anon kudos bombing but w/e it's nice having some single chapter fics in the top 5 🤘
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes! 🥺🥺🥺
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
A time to refrain (from embracing) methinks!
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Both installments of the Are you afraid or is it true series are pretty fluffy. Maybe the second part (Through the park and by the tree) wins out? 🤔
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not generally. There was someone in the gg fandom leaving mean bookmark notes tho 🙄🗑️
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes. What are the kinds? 👀
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I haven't, and I don't imagine I would?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, not that I'm aware of. It could be interesting to see how it would go!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes actually, as kids me and a friend co-wrote a tortall 'verse crackfic.
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
Ooof. Maybe spuffy? That met me at a very formative time of my life, and I didn't expect it to become so canon (as opposed to like under a spell etc) and I think that experience really reshaped my brain 🤯🤯🤯 but fundamentally faves questions are immoral thus this is a very rude question.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I hope I'll finish all of them, and do intend to! I'm not sure I'll ever write the hilarious abortion fic tho.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Mm, a love of language/interesting prose. A love of brevity/somewhat chiselled sentences. A love of editing/willingness to improve. Interesting stories. Dialogue, tho brio get little bc theyre annoying. Characterisation!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Well I violently dislike plot. I don't feel super strong on creating original characters. I'm slow! I'd rather let things be confusing than beat readers over the head with info, which I think can be detrimental. I wouldnt say my descriptions are super strong, though I think they've improved a lil. Sometimes there's too much internal monologue at a go which breaks up the pacing of an eg dialogue scene (though again think that's improved somewhat). My love of planning and love of pantsing are at constant war lol, I get grumpiest abt stuff not having been established earlier and thus needing to state things which couldve been well demonstrated. Blocking, sometimes. I love short stories and oneshots but I'm apparently prone to writing long fics & continuing things into series which I consider a real weakness, lol.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm not against it in principle, I've read a lot of books which contain a lot of eg French or Spanish (often untranslated). We've got access to Google translate or w/e right? I do appreciate it when translations are provided bc lazy (and I think Ao3 does poss let you do hyperlinked superscript?). I feel the same way abt it in fic as in other media I think -- if you're happy for it to be a bonus to those that understand and everyone else needs to work to figure it out, I concur. If you think it needs to be understood, then providing translations (even if just as notes @ the end) makes sense.
But I also think pls don't write it via Google translate... If u don't speak the language/don't have someone who can help u translate it, don't write dodgy shite Spanish or w/e 🙈 not everything needs to be literal dialogue u can just say 'he explained to his grandmother abt the change in plans' or w/e I swear
...o wait I'm guessing the q meant me as a writer not reader 🤦 I don't think I've done much of it? Altho I do always seem to imply that every character speaks French, a language I don't really speak so who the hell knows 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Published for: good girls. Wrote for hmmm I guess tortall books maybe? 🧓🤷🏼‍♀️
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Ooof, immoral question! Let's say upon your ignorance (and the gray despair) of your ugly life tho bc every time I remember I wrote a fic where rio & Dean swap bodies I giggle 😂 there's so much abt this fic which is very funny to specifically me teehee
Tagging🔖🔖🔖🔖🔖: @hereliesbb @nakedmonkey @nottonyharrison @inyoursheets @bensonstablers @blizabrth @delicatelingon & U right in the middle of your forehead if u wanna play 😚🎯

20 questions for fic writers
I was tagged by @applepi00!! I'm also crossposting on Dreamwidth, because you know how reliable the tungle is. :')
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
35!
2. What’s your total ao3 word count?
391,557
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Right now? Baldur's Gate 3 while clearing off some Genshin fic.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
unsurprisingly, IWAK [soukoku genderswap fic]
wet eyed [skk omegaverse fic]
i know the grass beyond the door [hades game thanzag]
lightless miles and miles [soukoku genderswap ANGST]
Moonsung [skk royalty AU, abandoned]
Honestly, it's hilarious looking at this list because bar 1 and 3, I feel very little affection for any of these fics. The curse of writing for a popular ship and then only writing for rarepairs 😩
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Eeeeh. I tend to respond to comments on fics that are WIPs or I feel a particular affection for; otherwise, nope.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
100000000% The World Aflame. Albedo/Venti destroying a city together??? Yeesh.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Uhhhh.... maybe my P5 Ryuji/Akira fic? But that's just shameless fluff all the way through, so...
8. Do you get hate on fic?
I've had a few death threats, but they've disappeared since I made all my fic archive-locked.
9. Do you write smut?
Sometimes, yeah--but I definitely feel more comfortable in M-rated fic. :')
10. Do you write crossovers?
Nah--but I do write a lot of AUs, if that counts.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
HAHAH SO. I wrote a Danny Phantom fic back in 2010 when I was like ~12 and someone stole the premise and wrote it better than me. I was so furious I locked the FFN account and it sits there, immortalised forever--or until FFN dies, which may be soon tbqh.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Several. It never fails to make me incredibly happy. I've also had podfic written, which is also hugely !!!!!!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yep!
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Kirk/Spock.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but probably won’t?
And By Morning, my Albedo/Aether American Gods AU. It's delicious, but I also wrote it ~3 years ago so I'd have to start again from scratch because I now think the prose is kind of trash LOL. It's such a sexy concept though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I... like writing? Does that count? LOL. I'm not sure what I'm good at, really. I just hope I make it enjoyable to read.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plotting--although this is something I'm actively working to improve. Also, not editing as I write.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Has to be a really careful balance. I personally am a hater on the Google Translate translation, where someone just dumps a sentence in English into their target language and pastes it wholesale into their fic--unless it's something you can reasonably expect folks to know, like using mijo/mija in a fic about Spanish speakers.
I think it can go into cringe territory super fast, though, depending on the level of slang. But if you're looking for cringe, then go ahead!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
God, fuck. I don't even know?? My memory is shocking. I definitely wrote and posted Sherlock fic on my old AO3 account, and I wrote that Danny Phantom fic mentioned above. Maybe it's Danny Phantom fic ?????
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Short fic: talk to me (talk to yourself), which I wrote in a fugue in like an hour. It's SO perfect I can't even be mad at it.
Long fic: cross the rivers of my mind, which I'm gonna finish next year!! 😤😤😤
If anyone else wants to play, feel free, and feel free to tag me! >:)

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
So, this has popped up in my feed several times within the last few days, so I thought, why not give it a go and expose my fic writing persona. So....
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
7. All posted as Sequanea
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
103.282, which I know for some writers is like one story, but for me is quite a lot.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently only Bridgerton. I used to write for other fandoms waaaaay back in the day, specifically Buffy and Harry Potter. But looking at when the former wrapped up, you can see that I do mean way back when I say way back.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
When the world ends (675)
Lift me up (667)
Heaven is here if you want it (558)
Don't fight it (if you don't know what it is) (283)
Year of Hell (194)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I usually do not, because I feel extremely embarrassed about what to say without sounding stupid and not being able to show my appreciation properly. Which I know is doing exactly the opposite, and I really, really want to change that, but unfortunately old habits die hard.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
All of my fics have a HEA, but I think the angstiest thing I have written so far is “Year of Hell” since the angst goes all the way until the last few paragraphs.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
As above, everything I write is HEA in the end.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Thankfully no. There were some weird comments that did not make much sense in the context of what I have written, but no hate.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ehm... I try? I still feel quite embarrassed writing smut, but I am doing my best to push myself to get out of my comfort zone and include more M or E rated content in the future. I'm a very vanilla kind of girl though, so don't expect anything other than that.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not anymore, but the very first fic I have ever written was a Harry Potter/Discworld crossover (which was pure comedy) and there is an abandoned Harry Potter/Buffy story probably still buried somewhere on fanfiction.net that I never finished. You get the picture. .
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I did write a few fics in German. Needles to say, all have been abandoned.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I have to say Bridgeton’s Kathony (Kanthony?), but there was a time when my heart belonged to How I met your Mother’s Barney and Robin. I shipped these two even before they became canon and still remember the discussion if they should be called Robarn or BRo (It's BRo btw. Robarn just sounds so wrong).
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I really would like to finish that Buffy/HP crossover, but a) I am so way out of these fandoms by now that don’t think I could come up with a proper plot (and I forgot most of my initial outline) and b) I  have lost my password to all of my old fanfiction accounts as well as access to any email addresses that I used for them.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I can write an entire story without any dialogue. Does that count?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finding the right words after dialogue in order to not repeatedly write he said/she said or a variation thereof. Not repeating myself, including not using the same words multiple times in a sentence or paragraph, is in general something I struggle with.
Courtesy of my lawyer brain, I also get stuck on details a lot and over think things far too much. It’s hard for me to sometimes just say “screw it” and not go down the rabbit hole of research because I want to get each and every fact right.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Only if it serves a purpose, and at least in my stories it never would. I exclude terms of endearment from that though. In my opinion these do not count as full dialogue.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter (and Discworld, since my very first fic was a crossover).
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Surprisingly Year of Hell. Which has a very similar structure to another one shot I am very proud of that I wrote for HIMYM like 15 years ago and found earlier this year on one of my old hard drives. I think it is still somewhere on fanfiction.net, but I really don’t remember under which nick I posted it, especially since I don’t even remember what nicks I used to go by back then to be honest
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Since I am still new to tumblr and don’t really know anyone around here, I tag whoever stumbles upon this and decides to give these 20 questions a go. Cheers!

OH MY FUCKING GOD DARK ONE FORGOTTEN im fuckingf sobbing what was that. why arent people talking about that. it was so good and im gonna have a headache tonight because i cried but i don't care because i heard this story. go listen to it now
and I had it in my notes! I had this idea in my notes!! (went and checked and it's not in my notes) ok but at some point I wrote down a character who uses a curse to their advantage, and then I read alcatraz and was like oh that's not what I meant but I guess it's fun, but THIS. THIS DOES IT. SO WELL. and at some other point I wrote a short story about a functionally invisible character and that was before i read the schwa was here and this is actually one of my favorite tropes but this is the best one. this is absolutely the best one. endorsing dark one forgotten as the best functionally invisible story
went on coppermind to find the actors and coppermind forgot about them tooooo chris and sophie don't even have coppermind pages wtaf why did no one listen to this
i think its rachel jacobs and sophie oda and i can't find much info about either of them but they were boht fucking amazing. dear god thank you rachel jacobs. the number of times you said the other actors were really good and then you completely blew them out of the water. you made me tear up at least twice and the other time it was sophie oda so points to all of you
the story. can't even explain waht thsi is. true crime horror mystery fantasy? and I don't even like the first half of that sentence but I don't care because the story punched me in the gut and I didn't even need to understand the worldbuilding. chris asked questions and consulted experts and ran experiments and she got my heart. skeptical about sophie but she was there the entire time. not her project, not her obsession, not her responsibility, but she stayed, and she helped. chris and sophie said they weren't a couple and I was immediately like "yeah if they weren't both women(, bitch) that would be foreshadowing" and IT WAS FUCKIGN FORESHADOWING istg. This. This is also the best romance. And I hate romance I'm arospec lmao but dear god this got me. the sheer dedication to stare at somebody for eight god damn hours straight and then the music box scene. the music box scene. I got to it and I knew it was going to happen as soon as sophie asked but it still blew my mind and broke my heart that she did. because sophie is the best person in the world.
I have not been making sanderson reread update posts, and I read rithmatist and all of reckoners, but I'd already read most of those and there's nothing notable about lux except the plot holes and they didn't hit me hard like fucking dark one forgotten did. i barely knew this existed. It came out during the year of sanderson and yet nobody includes it in the book count. (There were 8 books/stories released, cowards, not 5.) but also I feel the need to mention that I thought dark one was quite good as well, but also that it feels like only the first chapter of a story so I can't say much else as of yet, I guess? I need more dark one. now. anything mirandus. why is nobody talking about this thing
also I feel the need to mention that there were she-ra references? like, references to the reboot, which is hands down my #2 favorite show (can't compete with dark but nothing can lol). and they were good references and they made sense. I started laughing hysterically when sophie said "hey adora". has brandon sanderson watched she-ra and the princesses of power? is this canon? I mean he definitely needs to

3, 7, 14 and 62
I had question 62 finished and then Tumblr DELETED THE WHOLE THING I HATE THIS WEBSITE
Thanks for asking though ^-^
3. on a scale of 1-10 how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?
It depends on the angle I am taking when I begin to write a story; for example, incorporating romance in a story that is romance-focused from the start like New Beginnings is a solid 10 for me, whereas in a story like Genesis where the focus lies more on the friendship between Gold and Silver it lies a lot lower. But also there I have some OCs that are in a romantic relationship, some not that visibly and some very much so, so even there I would say it's a 4 or a 5 at least!
7. tell us about the plot of the first fanfic you ever wrote
That would be Belong! That's almost 2 years ago ^-^ Basic premise: Silver travels back to the future and finds it in snowy ruins this time. While traversing through a ruined city he comes across Venice the Mink, who had fled to Silver's future by accident from a dystopian different dimension. They go back to the past together to try and subvert it, lots of brotherly fluff and cuteness also commences <3 It's been quite some time since I last read Belong (I can't read it anymore cuz my writing style changed so much, it makes me cringe😂) but that should be the general gist of it!
14. what’s your worst writing habit?
In my opinion, I make my sentences way too long. I have many things to say and put in my fics! But that does mean that my sentences often come with a barrage of commas, filler words, and other stuff to truly put down the scene... to the point where sometimes even I struggle to read them and understand what it says, haha. It is recommended that you switch up your paragraphs with sentences of varying lengths, but I myself am not that much a fan of really short sentences?? Feels a bit awkward to me if it doesn't have at least one comma in it, basically (and thus also means I add many filler words like basically, right, isn't it, etc. behind the comma which are not necessarily needed, to get in that one comma). So that is something I am working on right now! ^-^
62. what’s the weirdest reason you’ve ever shipped something?
I had to give this one some thought; generally I ship things because I think the characters have good chemistry together, which isn't really that weird a reason, haha. But when I was planning out New Beginnings I asked @xxsilverleaxx whether or not I had to make it a romance fic or more platonic, and she firmly steered me towards the former... and while I already shipped Espilver, writing NB has only increased that a thousand-fold :3 But the conclusion I finally came to is that I very easily ship characters when even the slightest bit of Cute happens between them; in the AU Lea and I rp with she wrote Knuckles and Gold cute for one (1) scene, and I POUNCED on that, and now both of us ship them in that AU... because of one cute moment between them. I do suppose that counts!😂

QOTS Rewatch - 1x12 - Quinientos Mil
Ok, I wrote this recap once already and then like an idiot I accidentally deleted the draft, so this is my second time writing it and it’s definitely going to be lazier than the first time around. SORRY. Anyway, this episode in my opinion lacks the cohesiveness of some of this season’s stronger eps. It follows Teresa and Brenda as they try to execute their backup plan to escape Camila’s clutches; James as he liberates Boaz from the grips of the DEA; Camila as she makes her final moves to cement her alliance with the Jimenez Cartel; and Epifanio on the eve of the gubernatorial election in Sinaloa. Teresa’s story this episode is the only one that I found emotionally interesting. The others can all really be summed up in a few sentences. But even Teresa’s story felt a little sloppy to me.
Tumblr media
GIF from @thesharpendofthespear
So Teresa and Brenda’s plan to extort Birdman for cash to escape having failed because James assassinated Birdman at the critical moment, they had to quickly figure out a backup plan, and basically it seems like they picked a random page out of Guero’s notebook, figured out that the numbers on it were coordinates, and decided to head there. To me, this strategy doesn’t track with the Teresa we’ve been introduced to all season. We KNOW this notebook is many pages long. The first episode of season 2 has Teresa using another page from it to help Camila find her new transporter! So it just feels like lazy narrative convenience to have them pick this random page and these random coordinates to show up at and hopefully successfully extort whomever’s there.
But even though the story is questionable, Teresa’s fear and unease is palpable. I just keep going on and on about Alice’s acting but it’s really so good--she really is amazing at conveying the precarious emotional balance Teresa is hanging in. The energy between Teresa and Brenda is also so good here. Both of them terrified but handling it differently. I said this in the tags on one of the gifsets I reblogged but the shittiest thing about Brenda’s death, in terms of the show, is that we really have access to a different side of Teresa via Brenda -- a more emotionally open and accessible Teresa. I guess it’s kind of the point of the show that as Teresa gradually loses the people she loves, her emotional world becomes more and more closed. But anyway this episode, in its focus on Teresa and Brenda, really gave us that satisfying insight into Teresa’s emotional world that has felt so closed most of the season.
And that is: she’s terrified. She’s fucking terrified. Of course she is. She’s been kidnapped several times. Been raped. Had to sleep in a dingy warehouse for weeks (?) on end. Boyfriend presumed dead. Etc. She’s just watched her best friend say good-bye to her son. And she knows that now not only Epifanio Vargas, but also Camila Vargas, want her dead and she actually doesn’t have a solid plan to escape them. So yeah. She’s fucking terrified. And I absolutely love that moment when she says it to Brenda. I don’t think we see that part of Teresa again until season 5.
I’m not going to rehash the details of the encounter with El Limpiador (but ok, why are there BODIES stored in an underground shipping container? why wouldn’t bodies just be burned? that’s completely disgusting. ANYWAY) but Brenda in this whole encounter is such a liability. Poor Teresa. It’s her friend, she loves her, and Brenda also has an intense survival instinct of her own, but in this case, she lacks the “street smarts” to keep them alive and we all know how that ends. So, so sad. I will miss seeing Teresa in female friendship for the rest of the series. (Kelly Anne doesn’t quite count. Oksana was unterutilized. Oh well.)
And she ends this episode getting kidnapped yet again and it’s not clear to me whether this is a plot loophole or whether we’re meant to understand that this extortion of El Limpiador was never going to be successful. Because no sooner does Teresa escape El Limpiador than she’s in the clutches of Epifanio (next episode). Like are we meant to understand that he would’ve called Epifanio anyway (which would make the most sense--like why WOULDN’T a guy like that just pay them off and then instantly send someone after them?)? Or are we supposed to believe that he would’ve let them go but goes after them because he found out Brenda has a kid and then delivers Teresa to Epifanio? I don’t get it. But anyway, that’s essentially it for the episode on Teresa.
James: has to kill DEA Don in order to get at Don’s wife in order to get Boaz out of high security confinement with the DEA in order to cement Camila’s alliance with the Jimenez cartel. As I said in the tags of this set, you can just barely start to see a James uncomfortable with the casualness of killing Don and then using Don’s phone to text his wife. And those glimmers of discomfort are Teresa’s influence. I love to see it. But even so: he ultimately doesn’t hesitate to do what “needs” to be done for Camila: kill Don, use dead Don’s phone to locate his wife (and Boaz), and presumably kill everyone at the DEA safe house too. Teresa became darker over the seasons, for sure, but I don’t think she was ever THIS cavalier with people’s lives.
Camila: always trying to stay one step ahead of Epifanio, she has their daughter basically kidnapped from her boarding school and brought back to her in Mexico so that Epifanio can’t use her as leverage against Camila. I really don’t like Isabela as a character so any storyline involving her is hard for me to stay with. Then, knowing Epifanio’s hands are tied because of the election, she moves on poaching his top lieutenants.
Epifanio: is flipping out because the election is tomorrow and his wife is out of his control. Sorry dude! She’s not your trophy wife. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The season 1 finale is a pretty great episode, very Teresa-centric. This one moved us right along to set us up for it. That’s what it does well, IMO. Otherwise, it’s not one I’ll probably revisit much in the future.
Queenpin Visions:
At the very beginning of the episode, in the car with Brenda when Brenda asks if she’s scared: “It’s okay to be scared. The way things are going, you should be.”

Fic Writer Review
Tagged by @findswoman. Thanks, ma’am! I hadn’t stopped to look at the stats of my writing in...ever. This was enlightening.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
48 currently
2. What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
366,990, yikes!
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Uhm...let’s count. Star Trek: The Next Generation when I was 10 (and I have another one for that fandom in the works). X-men in middle school. Xena: Warrior Princess, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Star Wars (Original Trilogy stuff), Star Wars: Rebels, and Castlevania. That’s seven, I guess?
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Predictably:  Close Only Counts (600) (earlyish kanera) En Route (541) (Han/Leia)  Next Season (503) (Hera-centric, post-Rebels) Lean (407) (Ghost crew)  Continued (297) (Rebels fix-it fic)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
The only reason I write is to talk about these fandoms with people, so yes, and I am not above begging for comments (that was the question, right?). If I haven’t responded to yours it’s because I’ve overlooked it in the day-to-day, and you should poke me and tell me so!
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Probably The First Night, which was written in the aftermath of “Jedi Night,” before the series even ended. Most of my stories have plenty of angst in the middle, but little at the end.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have not written crossovers. Hyperfixation does not allow me to think of more than one fandom at the same time.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
No, which I take as a testament to how lovely the Rebels fandom is.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Ahahaha! I mean...in my defense... not ALL my stories are smut.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don’t think so. Guys? No, right?
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not for A03, but the childhood fanfics were ALL co-written. We had these spiral notebooks we’d carry around and pass off to each other in the halls between classes. Ah, middle school. I also lived that roleplaying life for many years, though I’m not counting those as stories.
13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
kanera, oh you came and you gave without taking...  Runners-up:  Trevor and Sypha (Castlevania)  John and Aeryn (Farscape) (though I don’t write them because I’m not sure fanfiction can improve upon the show, which is already...pretty much fanfiction)
14. What’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Uhm... I think I will finish all of my works in progress eventually, barring unforeseen disaster. None of them feels abandoned. I would most like to get working on Fault Lines (the big Castlevania fic that’s barely started), and I have a gorgeous Picard story that I wrote 4,000 words for in three hours and then haven’t had a chance to go back to again.
15. What are your writing strengths?
characterization and dialogue, I think. Probably smut? I’m not sure that’s something to brag about.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot? What plot? Also pacing/phrasing at the sentence level, which is sometimes okay but sometimes wonky.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I say if it feels good, do it.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Probably Star Trek: The Next Generation, in terms of things that I actually wrote down.
19. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
I don’t knooooow! Uhm...  Next Season is not my best writing (it was written at breakneck speed and needs a heavy edit), but it really hits the spot sometimes. Feels real. (Side note, after I dedicated a story to my husband to troll him one time, my son said, “Hey! Would you ever write a story for me?” and my husband told him, “Buddy, Mommy wrote 40,000 words for you.” He doesn’t get to SEE this story, of course.) We also lost multiple men in our family to suicide, unexpectedly and horrifically, just before I wrote this story. It exploded everybody’s sense of reality in some ways I don’t think we’ll ever recover from. So...there’s a lot of real energy in this one.  I think Scenes from Yavin IV is underrated.  Fade to Red is smutty garbage in a lot of ways, but it’s been a huge investment, and it’s really made me think about how and why relationships work--and writing Kanan and Hera at the same time as Trevor and Sypha has made it clear that there are REALLY DIFFERENT ways of having healthy relationships, so that’s cool. Fade to Red has been a massive amount of work for a modest achievement, and I both resent it and am attached to it for that reason. It will end in a 8,000 word blowout next week, and I think I’ll be sad to see it done.  I think Mastery’s doing some interesting things, though it’s a bit retconned now.

Fic Writer Review!
Thanks @mssirey for the tag! I totally didn't have a crisis with the very last question, not at all bwhahaha
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
41, soon to be 42. ASJKLDBLAHSDSD how. And also why. But mostly, how.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
565,934 EXCUSE ME WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I was going to check my unpublished works but ya know what. Maybe I've written enough akdjsa
3. How many fandoms have you written for?
Technically speaking, I've written and published fics for five fandoms. However, I only have one story for OUAT (and I have @shadowdianne to thank for that... or do I?) and one for Captain Marvel. Mirandy was my first love, Cissamione the second, and Supercorp has burrowed in my brain and just won't let go.
I've also technically written for Xena, Legend of Korra, and Criminal Minds, but since I never published those, we're going to pretend they don't exist!
4. Top 5 fics by kudos?
Only two are WIPs! YEAH! They're the top two, but WHO CARES, here they are:
1) Perhaps, aka my baby, my child, my darling, the apple of my eye. If I ever had to choose to finish only ONE of my WIPs, this would be the one. This story has grown with me, and I think you can tell when you read. Or maybe not!
2) For the Better. If the former is my baby, this one is like... my moody teenager. I love it dearly, but... it takes a lot out of me. An ode to one of the first fandoms I actively wrote for, it sits unfinished, but nearly, oh so nearly done. I will finish it, damn ittt.
3) The Date. Honestly, this one really surprised me -- it's one of my oldest one-shots, and something I definitely dashed off between lectures back in Scotland, maybe alternating with FtB chapters. It's one of my first attempts at humour, I think.
4) Bits and Pieces. AYY, I wasn't sure Supercorp would make the cut, WOOOT! This one was the second Supercorp fic I ever wrote, and I did it because Lena Is Baby and the idea just wouldn't leave my brain.
And lastly, the fabulous number 5... Perfect. AKA Nara's First (published) Explicit Fic, featuring Praise Kink and an Enchanted Dildo (for... reasons). I'm not gonna lie, I am so HAPPY this one made it, because it has a special place in my heart. It's where Soft Butch Hermione comes to life, and if you don't love Soft Butch Hermione, I'm sorry, we can't be friends. I love her.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why/why not?
Eeermmm... some? I do want to respond, but I'm terrible with keeping up with comments, I really am. For whatever reason, even when I do my best, I don't really love responding directly on AO3. I also turned off all email notifications for AO3 because turns out my brain WILL be distracted by even a single one.
I'm much more responsive on Tumblr, I promise!
6. A fic you've written with the angstiest ending:
Any of my Narlily works, I guess? Like... All Flowers Wither or Carry On.
Unshackled would be another one, though it's Cissamione... but I caved and made a happy(ish) second part for that one.
7. Do you write crossovers?
Nope! Crossovers just don't do it for me, generally speaking (reading or writing).
8. Ever received hate on a fic?
EvEr rEcEIvEd hAtE-- yes. Oh, yes. I've been told my writing is terrible, I've been told my stories were a 'waste of time,' or 'overhyped,' I've had people tell me there was only One Way to write a certain pairing and my way was definitely Not The Way.
The list goes on.
It used to really, really bother me--still does, but in a much smaller way. Delete/Block buttons are my friends.
9. Do you write smut?
I write an absurd amount of smut. I just don't publish any of it because. Fear.
My pretty, pretty pens have created some filthy, filthy things.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
A couple of times -- only once or twice like, straight up attributed to someone else who acted like they were the one writing it. The other times were reposts or translations (without my permission, so still. stolen).
11. Ever had a fic translated?
I've authorized a couple of translations of a few of my DWP works. I'm usually cool with people translating my stuff IF THEY ASK ME FIRST and GIVE ME PROPER CREDIT.
9/10 it's some Brazilian who translates it to Portuguese without my permission and then gets upset when I, another Brazilian, do not endorse it and politely ask them to take the thing down. Thankfully it's been a while. ASK ME, DAMN IT.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic?
Nothing published bwhaha!
13. All-time favourite ship?
Right now SuperCorp is definitely barking a little louder, so to speak, but I don't really have one favourite overall. It depends on the fandom, sometimes! Cissamione is very dear to my heart, because it's just so fucking out there and literally every one in this ship has some of the most fascinating headcanons for this pairing and it's just. So wonderful.
14. WIP you want to finish, but don't think you ever will?
Eeeeuuughhh.... Right now? Probably The Appraisal. I forget what I wanted to do with it, I'm not sure if I'm still feeling the premise... IDK.
I think the same could be said of For the Better, but I PROMISED to finish it, and GOD DAMN IT, I am so close I can't throw in the towel just yet.
15. Writing strengths?
You want ME to say good things about MYSELF? I'm still learning how to do that asldkjbasdn it's a work in progress. But I think I'd say... maybe world-building, at least on my longer works?
I would also like to think I do pretty OK in... IDK, some of the punchy stuff? The 'oh wait a minute' moment? IDK if that makes sense!
16. Writing weaknesses?
Organizing. Plot (HAHA IKR). Consistency. Editing (which is rich from someone who literally edits shit for a living... but go figure). Pacing. Weirdly long sentences? Commas for DAYS.
I could go on.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I am a-OK attempting it in French/Spanish/Portuguese. It may not sound natural, but it will be correct. If I'm trying another language, I'll definitely get help! But I've got no problem with it.
18. First fandom you ever wrote for?
Harry Potter, Dramione specifically, and you'll never find a shred of it. I was like 12, and almost a decade later I figured out Hermione was much better off with Draco's mother.
19. What's your fav fic you've written so far?
DON'T MAKE ME CHOOOSE asdkljasdl I CAAANNN'TTTT
I mean, obviously Perhaps is one of them -- it is my baby, that has been established. I think Little Bumps in the Road is also up there, because it was just a random writing exercise that got out of hand, and honestly? I'm here for it. Andddd.... I GUESS I'll put A Valentine's Evening up there as well, because it was the first time I didn't second guess every word I wrote when posting smut. I just... felt it, went for it, wrote it, and it felt really, really good to release some of that into the world lol
WHEW, this was a long one! I'll be tagging @intheinkpot, @shadowdianne, @delirious-comfort, and @16-pennies because I am a curious bastard. But, as always, feel free to treat this as an open tag. Go nuts!

Fanfic Writer Interview! Thanks for tagging me Emmy <3 (@chromochaotic)
I swear the most stressful part of these is tagging other people XD None of you have to do this but, @dualityoftoad, @jadeile-writes, @knightfire
How many works do you have on AO3?  7! (+22 on ff.net but I will spend the rest of this exercise/life pretending those don’t exist)
What’s your total AO3 word count? 194,093… huh. Wish I put that effort towards my Master’s thesis in retrospect.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
2 fandoms: Zelda BOTW and Hazbin Hotel 😊 Again ff.net does not exist so let’s mention of those
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Given I only have seven so this is almost just a list of my fics... Finding Link (Revalink), Beating about the bush (Revalink), Ace In The Hole (Radiohusk), Waiting for You (Sidlink), Curtain Up (Radiohusk)
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Always! But sometimes I’m really slow about it. (There was a short period where if I took too long I just wouldn’t because it felt like I missed that window but I’ve overcome that hang up now) They make me happy and I want people to know that I appreciate them. And interaction is just fun.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Angst? What’s that? I could never. Angst only exists in short spurts in my fics to make the comfort sweeter and the happy endings happier.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really… (again forcefully shoves ff.net under the rug)
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I guess? Not on ao3 though and the only comment immediately coming to mind was more of stern advice from someone who didn’t actually read the fic but thought I needed to do a better job on the summary, which, fair enough.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Haha no… I kinda wanna but I also feel like I could never XD If I ever do it’s gonna be in an unpublished google doc that I’ll share if someone specifically asks… (Only cause I’ve written some funny nsfw  bab scenarios in my head)
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Haha I hope not?
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. Or… actually I guess technically yes? A lot of people (moreso on the radiohusk side) say in comments that they read my fics entirely over internet translators… wonder how well that actually works… XD
What’s your all time favorite ship?
(Revalink, Revalink, Revalink) It just connects with me somehow. I have so many au and fic ideas all the time (most which will never see the light of day because too many thoughts, too little time) I really like radiohusk but I also have to strain a lot to write them for some reason.
Whats a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
*burns the rug that ff.net and all it’s unfinished fics have been swept under* “Hmm? What? Nahhhh I intend to finish all my fics”
What are your writing strengths?
Hmm…
I think I write in a way that’s pretty easy to digest. Like I’m not really a details person… which can sometimes be nice? I think everything I write kind of feels like a sitcom. There’s not exactly a complex plot and you don’t need to use a lot of mental power reading because everything is kind of ‘punchy’ and ‘quick to the point’.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Everything I said above but in a negative context instead LOL.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I always just write in English italics when someone is speaking a different language  but I’m not sure that’s the best way. I like it when fics do it in the format of “Das ist mir Wurst” (This is sausage to me).
But see…
That would require me to WRITE those sentences in diff languages and no thank you. Do you know how many languages Husk speaks in Hazbin??? (7)
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
….. Ouran Highschool host club MorixOC. NEXT QUESTION PLS.
What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Beating About The Bush without really any doubt at all. (I’m starting to feel pretty good about Ace In the Hole too even though I struggle so much to write it)
OH! And “A Moment’s Repose”! That Revalink oneshot might actually be an example of my best writing. I wrote it for an event a month early and because I am incapable of not tweaking things for as long as they aren’t published, I LITERALLY tweaked and added to it for a month. It’s the only thing I’ve ever written where you can’t see me rushing to the end XD

Fic Writer Tag Game
I was tagged to do this by @allegoriesinmediasres but it had already gone round Dreamwidth this last week, so I did it there.  I’ll try and c+p it over here, too!
1) How many works do you have on AO3? 620 (but I've been writing a lot of short things since around 2006-7, and there might even still be a couple of the 1994-98 fic from the newsgroups up). 2) What’s your total AO3 word count? 1,476,147 (but this does include about 300,000 words of origfic for RaTs and rainbowfic that are collected into three works, so it doesn't affect the works no too much, but it does affect the wordcount.) 3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they? Too many to list here!  A lot.  *nods* 4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos? People, it's still Miss Marple.  Maybe one day it won't be Miss Marple, but today is not that day. (ETA: whenever i do my top AO3 fic on these memes, it’s disproportionately Miss Marple.  I am bemused.) Miss Marple: The Spirit of St Mary Mead So We Meet at Last Not Miss Marple: it's the rain that will strengthen your soul (SW Prequels) Five Times the Doctor Got in the Way of Captain Janeway (and One Time They Got Along Just Fine) (DW/ST) By the Book (Origfic) (Oh, wow, By the Book keeps moving up.  It must get recced sometimes, somewhere, mustn't it?  0_o ♥) 5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Yes.  Fanfic is a lot my way of being social, which is why I don't get along with the new push-button web much.  Like, kudos is fine, ok, but I just wanted to talk to people, and via fic always seems to be one of the nicest ways to do it. 6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Oh, I don't know. I like being bleak sometimes when I feel like it.  It might be the EatD one with the two Generals, but honestly there were a few in my mid-illness old bleak telly watching years, and the Level 7 one or the one from Children of the Damned might be even more so?  Or some S&S stuff, too?  I mean, I wrote S&S plane crash fic and weird drabbles.  (I blame my fandoms!  It's not my fault!  *innocent*) Also I keep doing Clara splinter fic, so I keep killing Clara and it's always sadder than I expect when I get there.  You'd think I'd learn by now, or just not kill this splinter, but, nooo, hey, how about MORE Clara splinter death, self?  /o\ Oh, no, wait: it's probably Spooks!  Spooks is also bleak and how about my tiny ficlet of death, Litany of the Fallen? Oh, actually, if I listen to people who aren't me, it's that B7 Avon/Servalan one, which I was always a bit: BUT I WROTE ONE WHERE THEY WON about it and everyone else was all THIS IS THE WORST in the comments.  Sorry? The Quality of Mercy (Is Most Definitely Strained)  (I still think the ending of Compendium is more angsty!  It has double death!) (Ok, it's me.  I like being bleak and angsty when I'm doing it.  I'm less sure when someone else is doing it at me, of course. ;-p) 7) What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? I honestly don't know.  I'm usually kind of gen and happy and sometimes even humorous, and keep canon's tone, and DW is fairly light most of the time. I tried searching on Happy, but I have never tagged anything as happy.  But probably it is an AAL! thing, because AAL! is happiness in b&w TV form basically.  Maybe of Of Human Bondage (or Five Times Adam and His Friends Found Themselves All Tied Up)?  But I like all the AAL! ones I wrote for Yuletide, because they were the ones where I tried to be closest to an episode, and that makes them the most fun to re-read. 8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written? I have a crossover in my top 5, so yes.  I'm a DW fan; crossovers are just far too obvious a temptation when you've got a TARDIS.  What DW fic writer hasn't managed at least one once somewhere?  And I might have, um, written a lot of them.  (AO3 says 126). I did once, way back in newsnet times, when we were having a debate over what you could and couldn't cross DW over with (and I was on Team You Can Cross It With Anything You Cowards), write a DW/Rainbow drabble.  But I don't think I put that on AO3.  I think it might be on Teaspoon.   In AO3 works, I think by far the silliest is the Baldrick/Steed one, which AstroGirl said I couldn't write.  (It was an Unconventional Courtship summary, not that they randomly dared me to write Baldrick/Steed.  I mean, some of my flist totally would have done if they'd thought of it, but not in this case.) 9) Have you ever received hate on a fic? Not really.  I've had some weird comments, but the nearest I've come to hate was one of the comments that time I tried to write Swan Queen fic and it wasn't happy enough for people.  (I wrote a happy one after, but the ifrst one was set quite early, Regina was still kind of evil!) 10) Do you write smut? If so what kind? Alas, no.  Although, ish, if we count my experimental elemental shipping phase, which included The Cornfield (Silver/Steel/(Sapphire)), which is the only time anyone called any of my fic sexy.  I would totally have that comment made into a medal or something.   11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Other than the random scraping things that have gone round over the years, no. 12) Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes!  Several people have been kind enough to do this, usually into Russian, and usually (but not always!) Miss Marple. 13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, and no - in adwc days we all co-authored round robins, which were a blast and highly frustrating.  I think it'd be fun, but barring the odd bit of drabble tennis with various flisters back in the day, it's not really something that's worked out.  (I'm thinking, I could have all the ideas, they could do all the writing, I could criticise?? XD) 14) What’s your all time favorite ship? My Relationships count is very misleading here, because I think it actually is (including in terms of things written for it), Sapphire/Silver/Steel, but it's a weird thing, so sometimes I tag it platonically, and sometimes I don't necessarily tag it at all for that reason, and also I think it puts people off unnecessarily.  (But it's a Lie when I don't tag it.  All my Sapphire & Silver & Steel is inherently OT3 even if no one else can see it.) 15) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? None.  I have unposted WIPs, but I do hope to finish those, and the only posted WIP is a very old one only on Teaspoon that was begun before I was ill and I can't even really say at this point that I would want to finish it. 16) What are your writing strengths? Character/dialogue, I think?  I am actually not that bad at plot, but currently I lack the stamina for long things. I like to think I can be quite funny when I'm in the mood. 17) What are your writing weaknesses? Description, action.  Argh.  Yes, let's just talk some more, okay? 18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I was going to say I would never, but actually I did!  I wrote Y Gwyll | Hinterland fic, and it wouldn't be right not to have some Welsh in that.  However, while I may be a 1/4 Welsh and know some Welsh words, I don't actually speak it, so I had to turn to Llywela who was very kind and translated the sentences I needed.  (I added the English translation in the footnote.)  This was the fic, but basically language is important in canon (ironically maybe even more so in the Eng-lang version I watched than the original Welsh), and so it was also important in the fic. So, probably if it was a canon where it was required, then I would do what I could to get help to get it right?  The good thing about the internet is that you can usually find someone, although usefully for me, I already knew someone. 19) What was the first fandom you wrote for? Doctor Who! 20) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? I'm going to wimp out on this along with everyone else.  Although... if any of you have a fave fic of mine, that would be very cool to hear!  (But I don't expect anyone to.) Sometimes I'm pleased enough with the latest to feel it's that, but that's not always the case, and it isn't currently.  (No, offence, Latest Works!  I like you, it just only happens once in a while, usually when I've managed something I've wanted to do for years.)
I won’t tag anyone, because I know lots of people also did this on Dreamwidth, but it’s always VERY cool to see people’s answers to these things and memes are for stealing.

Fic writer tag game! sort of tagged by @frankthesnek 😁
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
190! Climbing a lot faster towards the 200 mark than I did at the 100 mark, thanks to embracing the joy of drabbles, short fics, and deciding sometimes a quick fic without endless editing is in fact plenty good enough 😂
2) What's your total AO3 word count?
673,204 words total including various collaborative or group efforts that I didn't write alone (incidentally, I missed hitting exactly 666,666 recently by TWELVE FUCKING WORDS. Just close enough to make me go nnnnooooo..!! when I noticed... but not quite enough to be worth trying to edit my fics down by 12 words exactly 🙈 (and tbh it wouldn't quite feel the same as posting something actually tailored to hit that mark on purpose in the first place)
3) How many fandoms have your written for and what are they?
Twelve! (essentially, anyway - if you could all of Star Wars as a single large fandom)
Star Wars, Stargate, The Witcher, Midsomer Murders, Assassin's Creed, The Expanse, The Dresden Files, RPF, Stormlight Archive, The Mentalist, Aquaman, and Good Omens.
it's one heckuva skewed distribution though, the vast majority of my fics are SW, followed by stargate, and the rest trail off from there.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
All Geraskier Witcher fics, that being the biggest and most current fandom and ship I've ever been actively writing for 😂 - A Tight Fit, Stolen Moments, Undignified, Keep it up, and Intoxicating.
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yup, always! Because I love getting them and I also love when I get replies on comments I leave on other writers' fics. And I like connecting with people 😊
6) What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Hands-down it's my "Zombie / what's in your head" MCD thranto fic. I have a small handful of others with ambiguous or bittersweet endings, but that one is the only thing I've ever written that merits the Sad Ending and Hurt No Comfort tags (and oof does it ever merit them)
7) What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
hmmm... most of my fics have a happy ending in the "happy ending" wink-wink nudge-nudge 😉😏 sense at the very least 😂
But I'm probably gonna go with Curious Creatures (thranto filthy fairytale AU) because it really culminates with that "lived happily ever after" vibe. As opposed to the sort of.. "happy in the present and immediate future" happy ending of my typical in-'verse fics.
8) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?
Nope, I've thought of a few but never quite gotten around to writing one (maybe someday!). I have some weird fucking AUs that I really like though 😂
9) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, but somehow very little? i.e. a whole lot less than I would expect to receive given what I write sometimes 😅 Worst hate I've gotten was actually on twitter rather than on AO3, once directed at me for an incest kink fic someone took offense to (it was mostly just funny), and once indirectly in a different fandom (seeing people making fun of a piss kink fic because they took offense to it.. existing in the character tag?).
I've had people be actively rude to or just ignore a co-author on fics I've done with friends more than once though, weirdly enough, which I actually find a lot more anger-inducing than hate directed at me is.
10) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
....all of the smut 😂 mostly slash, lots of kink, some porn with feelings and some porn with plot and some where the porn IS the plot. And a whole lot of self indulgent PWP 😏
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yep I've been really obviously ripped off before and it's a real shitty feeling
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah! Just once I think, but it was pretty neat to be asked 😄
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yup! Several times with a few different people, it was a lot of fun.
14) What's your all time favorite ship?
Don't really have one? I ship too many ships across too many fandoms to pick One Favourite For All Time 🙈 Plus, I mean... interests shift and I don't want to wind up making myself feel guilty for that if it does happen to even my favourite ships. I've seen people stubbornly holding onto a ship they don't seem to be all that interested in anymore, just because their whole fandom identity is wrapped up in it. It... really doesn't look like it'd be a fun time 😬
15) What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
There's quite a few, some partially published and some still in my fic writing folders, but I hesitate to actually say "I don't think I'll ever finish This One" because sometimes I do randomly come back to shit out of the blue, or because a re-watch/-play/-read rekindles the interest in it again. Probably not likely in a lot of cases, but... squirrel-brain does what squirrel-brain wants to do 😂
16) What are your writing strengths?
Sex scenes 😎 and short fic of all flavours
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Sometimes my overly long sentences are good, but sometimes they do just unnecessarily make the paragraph harder to read. I also have a tendency to stray to far into Over-Description territory of characters' physical states and actions.
18) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
It can be effective and immersive, but only if it doesn't leave people confused and having to jump up or down to translation notes at the start or end. My favourite use of other languages in dialogue is to use it only for single words that are evident or explained in context, or for terms of endearment where it's not necessary to know the exact meaning of it (especially when that stuff is part of canon anyway, like the smattering of Italian used in Assassin's Creed, or Radek cursing in Czech)
If it's like full sentences, I just write the line in english in italics, along with something like "X replied in [language]" to signal it's happening.
19) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Midsomer Murders 😊
20) What's your favorite fic you've written?
It changes, really... I guess currently it's probably Inflection Point just cause I'm still really proud of myself for actually doing it 😄
~
I also feel like I've been tagging people a lot lately, so I'll do like frank did and say Consider yourself tagged if you wish you were ;D

2020 Fanfiction Round-Up
I do one of these every year! And have since I think 2016. Can’t break a tradition even if it’s been a clusterfuck of a time and filling this out was in some ways an exercise in remembering the ways I have failed myself as a writer this year.
But oh well!
Total Year-Long Wordcount: I’ll post the final final number tonight after I finish the writing I want to do this afternoon (and plan to do this afternoon), but it’s currently 451,803 words written this year. Guessing I’m going to land somewhere around 453,000ish. (AO3 claims a higher number than that but that’s because it is counting the entirety of fics where I posted chapters this year.
This year I wrote and posted: I wrote a fair number more than I posted (there are five fics finished but for various reasons unposted on my hard drive) but based on Tumblr I posted 78 posts in my fic tag, which, not including chapter specific updates and three sentence meme answers (but including at least two Tumblr-only longer fics), probably comes out to about 60 or so “full length” fics that saw the light of day in 2020.
Overall Thoughts
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
Well, I wrote more than I did last year, which is sort of a surprise to me (all things considered) but also maybe not, because I was doing a lot less of most other things that could’ve been occupying my time, including two hours daily of commuting.
But still less than I did in 2018. Which is fine.
What’s your own favorite story of the year?
Lord, I don’t know. It depends on when you ask me. Lately I’ve been in a bit of a “I hate everything I’ve written ever” state of mind, so that makes it sort of hard to do any kind of...reasonable assessment.
I know I’m proud of With Absolute Splendor but I have all these reservations about it and I can’t reread it for the most part because I always notice new things I wish I’d done differently. I feel pretty good about efforts in a common cause but something about it still makes me cringe, which I suspect has to do with my general self-consciousness. I have a hard time feeling unreservedly proud about...anything I wrote this year, really.
I feel like the closest I get is maybe nor autumn falter which I am pretty pleased with and also which does hurt me a lot personally. Or I did end up overall pretty pleased with what came out of By Proxy.
But also the more I look at this question the more I start hating all my own work, so...guess this is kind of coming at a bad time.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I mean, I started writing in my first non-English fandom in many years, and specifically one where I was trying to engage more with the cultural background of the setting (in a way I wasn’t with, say, Death Note, when I was writing Death Note fic). So that was a risk. And I learned that it’s very stressful and there’s so many ways to make mistakes and I am, in many ways, a coward. But also I think I’ve learned a fair amount thanks to a lot of very patient people on the internet, so...there’s that.
Otherwise...I mean, I got ambitious with a few projects this year (the Big Bang fic and With Absolute Splendor stand out), but I’m not sure how much I really tried new things.
I feel like I had to fight myself a little on writing straight up bad sex for By Proxy - I planned on it being hot, and it really wasn’t. It was mostly just miserable. Which made for a better fic, but was a new experience for me as far as ‘I thought I was going to write porn and that isn’t what I wrote.’
From my past year of writing, what was….
My most popular story of this year:
By far, With Absolute Splendor. In fact, it has now become my second most kudosed fic of all time, behind only fuckin Life in Reverse. So like. That’s a thing.
(It is still less than half as many as Life in Reverse, but for context Life in Reverse has been around for going on eight years.)
Most fun story to write:
Most fics where I feel like “I’m having so much fun writing this!” also go through a “oh god I hate this it’s terrible” phase which makes this sort of hard to assess. But I did have overall a lot of fun writing Mutual Friends despite all my frustration with the canon-wrangling I had to do to make it work in my head.
But also I feel like both Retributive Justice and Embedded were in different ways deeply iddy fics that were just fun to write. That actually goes for a lot of the Whumptober fics. That was a very self-indulgent month. Excited to do it again in February (hopefully, if I can write things in a timely manner at all).
Story with the single sexiest moment:
I feel like the beauty of your repair might be my personal favorite smut I posted this year, but I think my personal favorite that I wrote is in the big bang fic nobody will see until January.
I feel like most of the sexiest moments I’ve written this year are in the porn fics I’m going to start posting in January also. But just generally I feel like the beauty of your repair is the sexiest thing I wrote and posted.
Most “Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
I mean, I Come With Knives is definitely up there. It’s not that wrong or anything, but it got pretty intense in some ways I wasn’t expecting. Mostly in how much blood got involved, which was actually more than I’d had it involved in a sex thing before! Kind of surprises me that I haven’t previously done more with bloodplay stuff but. Well. First time for everything!
I don’t think this was a year that really had any “wow, what the fuck, Lise” things in it. Nothing on the level of last year’s winner. I’m almost disappointed in myself.
Abattoir was definitely the story that generated the weirdest conversation and creepiest search questions, though, so it does get points for that.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
I feel like the writing of everyone else is spring bound was a lot of...me thinking through my Jiang Cheng feelings and specifically my Jiang Cheng post-canon feelings.
the martyr, the victim was pretty formative in shaping how I think about both Lan Xichen and Lan Wangji and their relationship with each other. It was the first fic I wrote that really dug into them in any way, I think, and definitely one that informed how I thought about writing Lan Xichen later.
Hardest story to write:
I was thinking it was the one that I haven’t posted yet but I did technically finish, aka my Big Bang fic, the terrible threesome fic, the massive “I’m gonna keep everyone in the Yi City arc alive” AU that I started shortly after finishing The Untamed and finished in December. So I spent most of the year writing it.
But then I was like - no, I’m going to have to go with we live until we die even though it’s technically been ‘in progress’ for five years and really kicked into gear in 2019 and I just finished it and posted it this year, because that fic was like. The culmination of a big arc in an enormous verse dealing with a whole lot of balls in the air and trying to tie up a whole lot of threads. It was ambitious and the stakes were high and it was full of plot and action which are not two of my strengths...frankly I’m still amazed I pulled the damn thing off.
Biggest Disappointment:
I think it is better if I refrain from going too in depth on this because it would just end up as me listing a bunch of my perceived failings. But I think off the top of my head I’m frustrated by the fact that I still haven’t really managed to write a XueXiao smut fic that quite hits the spot for me, myself. I’ve written two and for various reasons I don’t really like either of them.
Biggest Surprise:
The fact that my Jiang Cheng fic took off the way it did. Legitimately did not see that coming! At all! I mean, I’m delighted by it but it wasn’t what I saw happening as far as “niche I’d find in this fandom” or “thing I’d write that people would really enjoy reading.”
Particularly with By Proxy. That fic got a lot more attention than I would’ve expected.
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
I feel like every fic I write with Xue Yang in it tells you something about me and most of those things are things that make me, on some level, deeply self-conscious, but I try not to think about that too much.
I feel like the most telling story is maybe we all drift sometimes because I literally wrote it out of a depressive episode about a bad brain day but that wasn’t unintentional.
Favorite Opening Line(s):
1. So it turned out that if you touched the tendons of a dead person’s wrist and channeled a little bit of spiritual energy just right, it made the fingers twitch and curl like they were still alive. (Abattoir)
2. Here’s the thing: your Daozhang is glorious when he kills. (tear out all your tenderness)
3. Turned out that a sect leader’s head came off like anyone else’s. (Unnatural Selection)
4. The first hint that anything had gone awry was the letter from Lan Wangji (His Excellency Hanguang-jun, pardon me) that simply said have you heard from Wei Ying? (some good mistakes)
5. What Jiang Cheng wanted to do, more than anything, was to go home and take a nap. (everyone else is spring bound)
Favorite Line(s) from Anywhere:
I usually keep this to 10 but because I’ve been in such a :| place about my own writing I indulged myself this once.
1. Sometimes it felt like all he had done since descending the mountain was shatter his own dreams and accumulate regrets. (nor autumn falter)
**
2. It felt like she was holding all the components of a bomb in her hands, half assembled. If she moved the right way they would stay just that: components. But if she moved the wrong way… (til my judgment day)
**
3. He should have killed him. Should have been the one to strike that blow, in revenge for Jin Zixuan and their sister and everyone else dead for Wei Wuxian’s pride. Maybe then there would not be this gnawing, aching thing embedded in his chest; this itching, unfinished feeling. Maybe then he would not feel torn in two, sometimes like he should have reached out with his other hand and sometimes like he should have struck truer and sometimes both, in the same moment. (Interstitial)
**
4. He owed Wei Wuxian more than he could ever give back in this lifetime. Forgiving him felt like betraying his sister’s memory. Not forgiving him felt like trying to walk with a thorn in his foot. He was just - stuck, caught like a demon in a spiritual net.
Jiang Cheng thought of the way Wei Wuxian looked at Lan Wangji, with warmth and trust and love, and the aching, sick jealousy he had no right to feel returned. He felt a little like a child watching someone pick up a toy he’d abandoned and suddenly realizing that he wanted it back. (everyone else is spring bound)
**
5. You close your eyes and think about how he looked back in that town, Shuanghua slicing clean through a man’s neck, opening it to the spine, and think dizzily that he could open you like that and it’d be good, as long as it lasted. (tear out all your tenderness)
**
6. When Wangji loved, he loved with his whole being, without reserve. And now he had been placed between the rock of his convictions and the hard place of his devotion to Wei Wuxian. (the martyr, the victim)
**
7. He spent a week turning the idea over in his head. Studying it like a corpse he was going to dissect, poking at it, cutting it open and examining its insides. (dead reckoning)
**
8. When the world hurt you, that was the only thing to do, after all. Hurt it back, harder, worse. Spill rivers of blood for every drop it squeezed from you.
And when the end came, never go quietly. (the blood in your mouth)
**
9. I would stand with you through the end of the world, said Loki’s voice in his head, and Steve’s heart wasn’t in his chest anymore, was somewhere off on another planet where Loki was lying dead in a ruined city. (we live until we die)
**
10. Was it always going to be like this? Stumbling into traps, tripping over familiar skeletons, slicing himself open on the edges of old hurts. Was there really such a thing as leaving the past behind? He still felt stuck in it, unable to move, and every time he thought he might be finally dragging himself free something pulled him back. (With Absolute Splendor)
**
11. His chest was full of poison. His throat was full of grief. And he was still a little drunk.
Jiang Cheng went to his room, sat down on his bed, put his face in his hands, and cried until he couldn’t breathe. (By Proxy)
Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated:
I think the scene from nor autumn falter of Xiao Xingchen just crying his heart out over Xue Yang’s dead body would be up there.
The Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian hug from the end of With Absolute Splendor.
Okay, just gonna say it: Xue Yang and Jin Guangyao having sex by the table with Nie Mingjue’s headless corpse on it. So sue me.
The scene in the blood in your mouth where Song Lan has stabbed Xue Yang and Xiao Xingchen is following the line of Fuxue to the latter. I have a very clear visual of it in my head and if I could art I’d art it.
Xue Yang with the hallucinatory Xiao Xingchen from liberate spirits, liberate souls.
Fic-writing goals for 2021:
Finish Walking Far From Home.
Maybe I’ll finish some of these MCU WIPs? I’d kind of like to, on an abstract level if nothing else.
Become a more well-adjusted human being about the relationship between my productivity and my self-worth.

Green Lace and Peonies
(Part 2 of The Crystal Ball)
Pairing: Snape x fem!reader
Word Count: 4,276
Rating: M for Mature
Plot:  Severus Snape goes on a date with the girl his crystal ball paired him with. The date does not go as he thought it would, but he comes to realize how perfect she really is for him.
Warnings: It gets steamy :o
A/N: Back by popular demand! I hope this is a good continuation (wasn’t exactly sure how or where to take it) and that it wasn’t too “steamy” (or idk maybe it should have been more) and still just as fluffy but here it is. I’d love any thoughts on it :)

~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~ * ~~~
Severus’s heart was pounding as loud as his footsteps on the kitchen tile, clutching a gentle note in his trembling hand. He had paced away the dust in his living room floor already and would have to move on to his bedroom soon.
“What do I write?” his whispers carried throughout his empty home, bouncing off the torn wallpaper and echoed in his ears.
He hadn’t stopped thinking about the beautiful girl he’d met a few days ago, who had given him this note as well as herself all to him. She had said she’d be expecting his owl, but that felt like an eternity ago. Maybe she forgot about me already.
That was partly why he couldn’t bring himself to finish a single letter he started. Everything he wrote seemed idiotic. ‘Hello’ ‘Morning’ ‘You wanted to go on a date?’ ‘Go on a date with me?’ Everything seems so… he sighed and rubbed his eyes. Pathetic.
He pressed his hands on the edge of the sink and leaned forward, staring into the rusty drain. The only reason he was even still fretting about her was the effect her words had on his very being. She had called him her soulmate, given herself to him, and kissed his cheek with the softest lips in all of existence. A kiss he hadn’t stopped thinking about for a second. A kiss he recreated in his head, in his dreams... he blushed and turned away.
If there was any chance she was still waiting for him, he had to take it. Severus sat back down at the small round table in the corner of the kitchen and picked up the quill for the hundredth time that day. He looked at the note she’d attached to the flower she’d given him and placed it next to the picture of himself in his seventh year with three red hearts floating beside his face.
The sun was setting so he could no longer start it off with ‘Good morning,’ unless he sent it tomorrow – though he doubted he’d want this letter in his home for longer than it took to write it. He started with her name and a comma. Good… the bare minimum, he mocked himself.
He sighed and leaned back, letting his head hang off his shoulder, drawing all his hair to fall back and sweep the dusty counter behind him. He ran his hand through it, untangling knots as he went. He closed his tired eyes and shook his head. Just do it. Just write anything and send it off. She won’t even respond anyways.
He huffed and started scrawling as fast as he could, writing the first thing that popped into his head – it was like words were pinned to a board and he was throwing darts at random with every sentence.
I’d like to see you again if you have the time. Anywhere you’d like. I understand if you don’t, though. Don’t bother responding to this letter if that’s the case. I’ll be waiting your owl or lack thereof. I’ll get the message either way.
Severus Snape
He groaned. Just send it. He walked over to the opposite corner where a small owl slept in a large metal cage. He’d rented the owl from the post office for a few days before coming back to his house, though he’d have to return to London soon to give it back or face the past-due charges.
“Here,” he folded up the letter and shoved it into the little pocket tied to the owl’s leg.
The owl hooted, relieved to finally be able to stretch his wings, and hopped down onto Severus’ pale outstretched finger. The owl shook his wings open and waited for him to fling open the window, flying out into the evening sky ready to complete its duties.
That night Severus could do nothing but cringe at what he remembered writing, hoping he was exaggerating his words in his memories. He shook his sheets and slipped inside, tucking his nightshirt down and punching his pillow a few times before dropping his head onto it. He closed his eyes and ran a finger over the warm sensation on his cheek, remembering the way her nose brushed his skin.
. . .
There was a clicking sound, like pebbles hitting a window. Severus slowly opened his eyes and looked towards the light shining onto the floor. A weirdly shaped shadow moved around from one corner of the square of light to the other.
Severus sat up and flattened his hair, yawning wide and wiping his nose on his sleeve. He could feel the second his brain clicked on, because the lumpy shadow very quickly turned into the silhouette of a small owl.
He leapt off the bed and forced the bedroom window up, letting the tiny bird in. The owl flew to the top of his dresser and extended his leg. Severus’ heart stopped beating and his lungs ceased to function. He was dead by all accounts except for the quiet words ringing in his head: She responded. Merlin, she responded.
He quickly slid the letter out and turned on the light, moving the paper up close to his eyes as he read her writing.
Severus,
I want to see you soon. You’ve said anywhere I like, so let’s make it your place. Since you’re hosting, I’ll bring the food. Respond with any day or time. Be warned, if you don’t respond I’ll arrive at your doorstep next Friday. And if you think I won’t follow an owl, I will. Though I prefer your Floo location.
Severus chuckled. “‘All yours,’” she’d written it at the bottom just like the note. He had to admit he liked her humor as much as her lovely words. Wait… Severus held the letter closer suddenly. “‘your place.’”
He bit down his tongue in anger and rushed downstairs, looking around at the hole-ridden rug in the foyer, the piles and piles of books in his living room, and chipped paint and torn wallpaper in his kitchen.
“Damn it!” He hadn’t expected she’d want to come over. A restaurant or pub, sure, but his house? Why! He quickly scribbled his Floo location on a piece of spare parchment and sent the owl out again. “At least I don’t have to worry about cooking,” he pinched the bridge of his nose.
He spent the rest of the week doing what little he could to make the place look more like it had before… before he had left. He remembered the state of the house the last time he had seen it before leaving (running away more like) his house. The foyer had a working light that illuminated the beige wallpaper walls and light grey rug that covered the wooden floor from the welcome mat to the back-patio door.
The living room had a television set and a recliner chair with dust-free shelves full of souvenirs from his father’s schooling years and cans of empty beer. The kitchen was full of dirty dishes but the handles on every cabinet were polished and every surface was spotless. The walls were covered in a disgusting pastel yellow flower pattern from the previous owners… And now after four years the place looked abandoned – though it had been left to rot for almost two years before he moved back in.
He took out his wand and got to repairing the rug and removing the horrid wallpaper. The next day he fixed the handles and doorknobs of the only bathroom – which was upstairs – and cabinets. The rest of the days were spent trying to find space on the shelves for all his books. He shoved them through every space he could find above the book rows any way they would fit. And if they didn’t fit, then into his room they would go.
“Finally,” he shook his dusty hair and stepped back. The bookcase now looked like a solid wall of book spines but there were none out, which made the place look roomier.
The place looked… well she shouldn’t be surprised by any of it. The house now looked more like how he kept his potions classrooms – in some sort of organized mess. He’d spent the week cleaning in his night shirt because the only other thing he owned was his teaching clothes – though of course he couldn’t wear the cloak – and would settle on wearing his frock coat only.
Severus sat in his chair in the corner of the living room and closed his eyes. All that was left to do was wait for Friday to arrive.
. . .
The clock ticked five and Severus stared into the mirror, yet to button up his coat. He pressed down his hair and looked over his dark circled eyes and crooked nose. Sighing, he began the ritual of buttoning up starting from his collar – tucking his cravat in first – and making his way down to his waist, breathing slowly.
It was now six as he stood in the living room and turned towards the fireplace. He fidgeted with his hands behind his back and tried hard not to bite his bottom lip, fearing it would bruise like it always did. The fireplace lit with roaring flames and turned bright green. Severus straightened and heard his heart thumping loudly as the seconds went on, feeling like eternities just waiting for her to cross the fire.
A smooth leg in elegant heels stepped through, followed by soft-looking flowing hair as she ducked out from the fire and stepped into the dismal room. Her kind smile instantly lit up the place and he wanted very badly to look away and hide himself in his bedroom.
Her smile widened as she caught his eyes. “Severus,” she came closer.
He breathed in and was reminded of crushed peony powder. He noticed the basket she carried and took it, walking out of the room she was in and into the solitude of the kitchen where he set it down. He wiped his hands on his coat and let out a rugged breath. Calm down, for fuck’s sake.
“Severus? Are you alright?”
Severus turned to see her leaning on the door frame. His eyes betrayed him and scanned over her summer dress. The thin straps over her shoulders, the buttons down her chest, the flowery pattern of the skirt…
“Yes,” he cleared his throat and stepped aside, letting her go through the basket while he watched.
She pulled out several boxes, a jar of cut up fruit, and a green checkered blanket. She turned around and looked him over, licking her bottom lip as if tasting something sweet, “I thought we could have a type of picnic indoors. And it looks,” she glanced into the living room, “like you have room. Is that ok?”
Severus tore his eyes away from hers and nodded stiffly. He picked up the blanket and laid it out over the living room rug. She placed his own plates and glasses on the blanket and waved her wand, summoning the rest of the things.
“Why don’t you sit down,” she smiled and took a seat, folding her legs to the side and smoothing out her skirt.
Severus did as she said and crossed his legs. She leaned over and poured out the food carefully onto their plates – sautéed salmon and vegetables with a savory-looking glaze he couldn’t wait to try. At this point he wasn’t sure what was making his mouth water more, the food or the way her eyes drifted down to his lips as they talked.
The sun was now setting, changing the mood of the room. Her laughter turned into giggles and her eye gleamed with mischief every time she touched his arm. His heart leapt out of his chest and into his throat every time he felt her hand on him. He had counted at least five times he smiled stupidly during the meal and now, looking down at her hand on his arm again, made six.
“It’s getting late,” Severus cleared his throat, noticing the darkness looming outside the kitchen window. “What time did you need to be home?”
“No specific time, though I have an interview tomorrow morning,” she waved her wand and cleared the blanket of the dishes, glasses, and napkins. “You still have time tonight though, don’t you?” She whispered, inching closer to him.
He looked down at her and nodded, unable to help himself from leaning in further. She sat up on her knees and moved closer still, stopping right in front of him. Severus could feel his heart begin to beat faster and his hands becoming moist with a nervous sweat. He clenched his fists and kept them on his knees. It had only been a few hours since her arrival and yet he felt like he was coming undone. He was so used to keeping his composure so easily, it was frightening how fast he lost it.
“Thank you,” he breathed, “for the meal.”
“You’re welcome.” She lifted her hand and tucked a black strand of hair behind his ear, “May I kiss you, Severus?”
He looked at her intently, trying hard to distinguish the look she was giving him. He hadn’t expected everything to be going so well, let alone to be receiving another kiss that could melt him on the spot. He nodded and silently begged for her to kiss him like she’d done before. “Yes.”
He closed his eyes, waiting for a warm sensation on his cheek and felt instead her hand on his neck, pulling him in closer. He leaned forward, more than willing, and felt his lips go warm. He opened his eyes, shocked, and saw she was tilting her head, eyes closed as she kissed his lips.
He followed her motions and let out a deep and unexpected moan, pulling back quickly, “Sorry, I – ”
She pulled him back in and this time he felt her tongue slip into his mouth. Merlin, please don’t let this stop. Every fiber of his being was on fire. She ran her tongue over his and took his trembling hands in hers. He let her guide his hands to her hips, making him moan again, except this time she wasn’t letting him pull away.
He gripped her hips instinctively and closed his eyes, picturing her as she was now, leaning over him in her summer dress and heels. He could feel his wet lips being pulled on by hers and shivered with anticipation. His hand moved up her back and pushed her closer, although he could have never expected her reaction.
She sat up off her heels and moved closer, lifting her right leg over his and then her left, now sitting on his crossed-leg lap, her skirt spread over them as she pressed her lips deeper into his. He moaned again and Merlin only knows what possessed him to press her down deeper into his lap but feeling the pressure it caused made him moan louder.
He felt a smile pull at her lips as he pressed her down. She dug her fingers in his hair and start pulling. The air around them was starting to feel very hot, even for a summer night. She wrapped her arms around his shoulder and pulled herself away, trailing kisses along his jaw and up to his ear.
“Severus,” she moaned.
Please don’t stop. Please, he turned away, giving her his ear for full attention and sighed as she whispered and teased him further. His hands slowly trailed down to the edge of her skirt, playing with the hem, letting her know he wanted to go further. Just then she leaned back and pulled him with her as she laid down on the green checkered blanket.
“I’m yours, Severus. From the moment you sent me that message,” she pulled his cravat loose slowly and let it drop beside them, “You’re my soulmate.”
He propped himself on his elbows and bit his lip as the words reached his ears like a blessed melody. He trailed his eyes away from hers and down to where his black hair rested on the small buttons of her dress.
“I want to be all yours,” he whispered, feeling her heels slide up along the blanket, her thighs press against his torso, and her knees lock him in place. All yours.
He climbed further up her body and pressed his lips into hers, needing to feel her sweet tongue inside his mouth once more. Make me yours. I’ll do anything. He kicked off his dress shoes and let her take his left hand and place it on her knee behind him. He felt her gentle fingers press on his hand and guide him down her thigh and under her skirt but letting him finish the movement on his own.
He stretched out his fingers and slid them slowly deeper under her skirt until they felt a textured cloth by her hips. He let out another moan and noticed she gave another smile as they kissed. He followed the cloth down towards her lower back and wedged his fingers between the ground and her warm skin, feeling how smooth and soft she was.
“Squeeze me,” she whispered into his lips.
“Merlin… you tease too much,” he laughed.
“I’m not teasing,” her smile grew as she watched his eyes widen.
He slid his hand down from the cloth and traced a small circle on her plump curves. He squeezed, feeling his thoughts cease as he focused on the moment. He found himself pushing his hips down on her harder and moaning at the mounding pressure. He could feel his ears and cheeks going red and heard a small giggle escape her lips. He looked away and pressed his forehead down in the crook of her neck and kissed her collarbone gently, trying to reel his thoughts back in place.
“Can we go to your room?”
“M-my room?” He knew his bedroom was a complete mess. He had shoved anything out of place in there, practically throwing it in. The only thing he knew he organized neatly were his newly acquired jars of eastern specimens from Knockturn Alley. Would the alphabetical labeling impress her?
“Severus?” She pulled his chin up to look at her pleading eyes. She pressed him closer to her with her legs, begging him to give in.
“Alright,” the word came out as a trembling breath. He did not want the night to ever end, even if it meant facing more embarrassment. She already had him sweating and thinking things he dared not repeat but he didn’t let himself imagine what would happen in his bedroom lest he lose himself completely.
He stood up and helped her to her feet. She jumped up and kissed his cheek roughly like he’d seen girls do to their partners a million times back in school. It made him blush and so he quickly turned, hiding his face behind his hair and lead the way up. He pulled on the sleeves of his coat down further over his hands as they ascended the stairs to the second floor and walked the few steps to his bedroom door.
He opened it and stepped aside, letting her in first, unable to watch her reaction to the old highly-likely-to-creek-loudly bed, torn sheets, piles of books, pots, and cauldrons littered in the corners. Please don’t be disgusted.
She stepped into the room and turned, pulling him into a teasing kiss and lead him to his bed. Not uncomfortable about the mess? She is my soulmate, he smiled.
“Excited?” she pushed him down on the bed.
“I’m happy you came over,” he was glad the lights weren’t bright in here either as he was sure his face was more than just hot to the touch.
She curled her index finger under his chin and stepped between his legs, lifted her leg over his thigh and rested her knee on the bed next to him. His hands automatically moved to her waist, but she pushed them away, winking.
“I have something for you,” she kissed his lips lightly. “Lean back.”
He did as he was told and watched with a parted mouth as she began unbuttoning her dress, pulling the strands over her shoulders, and letting the dress drop to the floor. She trailed her hand from her neck and down her body. His eyes followed her hand, admiring the matching lace underwear set she had on. He recognized the cloth was a Slytherin-green color, along with two silver bows on either side of her hips, ready to be pulled apart. He licked his lips and closed his mouth, remaining as composed as possible.
“I wasn’t sure what your favorite color was, so I thought your Slytherin colors would do,” she winked and leaned forward, placing her other knee beside him and sat down on his lap again. “What do you think?”
“You’re perfect.” The words jumped out of his mouth before he could even process his thoughts, “I mean – t-the – Green and silver look really nice.” He could tell by the way she was smiling his face had probably gone full red. I can’t believe she is actually wearing this for me. She thought of me... She wanted to impress me. At this point his house could catch on fire, burning every book he own, and it would still be the greatest night of his life.
He turned his head as she leaned forward, kissing his ear and sending another shiver down his body.
“You’re everything I want,” she whispered, “You’re all I’ll ever want.”
Severus closed his eyes, listening intently at every word she spoke like a spell she was putting him under. She wants me as much as I want her. Only me… Only ever me. His hands trailed up her thigh and pulled her closer, “I’m yours. I’m all yours.” He pressed into her kiss and took in every sensation, wanting to remember everything about tonight for the rest of his life.
She pulled away slightly, “Even while you keep teaching at Hogwarts… And I work elsewhere?” Her words were nothing more than a murmur.
Severus opened his eyes and turned to look at her. She was hiding something. He could tell by the way her closed-mouth smile didn’t reach her eyes this time.
“Of course. You’re…” he paused to look deep into her eyes. “My soulmate…” he could feel the weighty truth of his words.
“Promise?”
He gently nudged her off and sat up beside her on the bed, “I promise.” His tone was stern, hoping to convey how deeply he meant it.
She smiled genuinely once more. She undid the straps of her heels and slid them off. She pulled the sheets up and slipped inside, “Join me?”
He nodded and unbuttoned his coat all the way, sliding it off and throwing it over the footboard. She reached up and slid her finger under his waistcoat and pulled him down under the sheets with her. Unsure how to position himself he laid on his back and looked over at her.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered.
She giggled and kissed his jaw lightly, pulling herself towards him and laid her head on his chest. She draped an arm over him and held him tight. This was also a moment he would not forget, having often wished he had someone to hold or anyone who even wanted to hold him. He rested his arm over her body and played with another silver ribbon he found on the green lace. His eyelids started drooping and he wished she could stay the night.
“I wish I didn’t have to, but I have to leave soon,” she sighed.
He didn’t want this perfect night to end. She was wonderful, soft, kind, and liked him despite all the terrible things wrong with what he could barely call his home. He cleared his throat, “I understand… Good luck in your interview.”
She smiled and kissed him one last time before standing up to dress. He watched her sit and slide her heels back on and stand. She surprised him when she reached for his hand and held it as they walked down the stairs and back into the living room together.
She grabbed the basket and threw Floo powder into the fireplace. Green fire roared to life and he pulled her in for a hug. Her arms wrapped around him and he felt like never pulling away from her embrace, wanting to hold her like that for the rest of his life.
She pulled away and picked up his cravat from the floor, he reached to take it from her, but she pulled it back. She laughed and reached behind her back and then reached into her dress, pulling on the green lace and offered it up to him, “Do you accept an exchange?”
He smiled wide, loving the constant teasing, “If I must.” He chuckled.
“Dream of me tonight,” she kissed his cheek and winked, a sparkle of mischief present in her eyes once more, “And I’ll see you soon, Severus.”
He felt that stupid smile of his creep up onto his face once more and nodded, watching her disappear in the fire. He looked around embarrassed, as if he weren’t alone in his home, and ran upstairs. He quickly changed into his night shirt and crawled into bed, pulling the sheets up to his nose and breathed in. It still smelled like crushed peony powder. He opened his drawer and placed the green lace inside, still amazed she had worn it just for him. She would definitely haunt his dreams tonight.
“I dare you guys to go there”
You and a few of your friends stood in front of one of the most haunted places in the country, Gonjiam Asylum. It was very creepy especially since it was nearly 12 am. You guys had to come during the night because it’s restricted to go here.
And there would’ve been someone guarding it. You looked at your friend who was beside you. “Uh... heesung i don’t think this is a good idea” You spoke looking very worried at your friend who was also the person who dragged you here.
“why not, are you scared?” he asked
“Of course...not” you murmured looking away from him and walked towards your friend group. They were busting chatting away as if there wasn’t a abandoned asylum in front of them. One of them turned to you and looked at you.
“ Are you going to go inside?”
It suddenly got silent and all eyes were on you. Panicking you shouted a yes. Which was a HUGE mistake. The others looked pleased with your respond for some reason.
To be honest, they weren’t actually your friends but you counted them as such since they were friends with heesung. He was the only friend you had so you didn’t want to feel left out.
“ Then what are we waiting for y/n, let’s go” shouted your friend. He yet again, dragged you inside the place. It was very spooky especially at night. You didn’t know why it was a good idea
The others were following behind. They look scared and didn’t seem to know how to hide it. As you and heesung were walking, you kept hearing weird noises and seeing shadow figures pass by a flash every thing you passed a empty corridor or room.
As you guys continued to explore the place, everyone except you loosened abit. They started to act less scared and had a good idea of splitting up into smaller groups inside of being together.
“Who thought it was a good idea to split up, that’s how bad things happen... especially in horror movies” you gulped. Heesung kept quiet as he looked around. It was awkward since he wasn’t talking to you the whole time. He seemed so focused at the surroundings he didn’t pay attention to you.
He was acting as if he wasn’t scared at all. Maybe he’s probably good at hiding it. But for you... what gave it all away to him was that your hands were trembling as you held the flashlight.
Heesung looked at you with a worried look. You shared the same look for some reason. He sneakily held your hand, squeezing it to try to relieve your nerves. You guys continued to walk until he stopped next to a opened door.
“What is it?” you asked.
He said nothing again and went inside the room, closing the door. You looked at him with question. After a few seconds, there was footsteps followed by chattering. It was the voice of 2 of heesung’s friends.
“You heard that scream right?
“ Yeah i did, what do you think it was ?”
“ Maybe it was a ghost”
“Pfft... As if gh-”
The person who was talking didn’t even finish the sentence. It was just silent now. ‘what happened?’ you thought. Looking at heesung, you tried to speak but he silenced you with his finger.
“Shhh...”
The air was starting to get tense. You tried to calm down but in the inside you were freaking out. Heesung got closer to you and held your hand again.
“what is it?” you whispered.
“I think there’s something outside the door.”
Once he said that, your face turned pale. ‘What does he mean by that?’ you thought. After a few minutes of standing in plain silence, he went towards the old door and pushed his ear against it. As he continued to listen to nothing, you began to look around the room.
It was quite big and there was things scattered on the floor. It looked like a medical room, since there was a table with straps and tons on things on the shelf. You continued to wonder the room, carley examining everything.
BANG!
The door heesung was up against began to shake. You jumped at the sudden sound looking towards the door. Heesung signaled you to move backwards. Without thinking, you obeyed him, not knowing what will come out the shaking door.
...
It suddenly stopped. You were against the windows, shaking. The door shined against the soft moonlight that came through the windows. You decided to hold heesung’s hand, trying to get the soft squeeze he gave you before.
Seeing what you tried to hint at him, he gave you the squeeze you slowly grew to love. Even though, it was the second time he did it. His ears were turning red and time passed by that he held your hand.
BURST!
The door flew open, small wood frames flying through the air. Some of them hit your forearm. You hissed in pain and you held your arm. Heesung leaped in front of you protectively.
You looked towards the door and saw that it was one of his friends. But his eyes, they were pitch black. You weren’t that religious but you were sure it meant that he was possessed by a entity.
“Heesung!” Yelled the possessed boy.
“Come back with me...Your father needs you!”
Anyone could literally choke on how thick the atmosphere was. You were trying to think what the demon boy meant, but was interrupted by heesung.
“I already told him i’m not going to go back with him, why does he keep insisting”
Never in your life, have you heard your beloved friend yell at anyone. You were still left hanging since you had no idea what they were talking about.
“y/n...” Heesung looked at you softly, the complete opposite of what he was a second ago.
“Go back home”
“What! why?” you asked him.
“ Ah... i see what’s going on”
You looked at were the voice came from. The “friend” smirked and laughed. Heesung looked at you, his face filled with guilt and worry.
“Why don’t you explain yourself to y/n...she deserved to know who you really are” a smirk plastered on his face again.
“know what?” you questioned while looking at heesung.
Your vision became blurry and soon turned into blackness, and what seems forever, you open your eyes again. You were terrified as you just seen your life flashed before your eyes. There was another person behind the wall next to the door, hidden in plain sight that you didn’t even notice. It leaped at you making your body slide against the wall behind you
“NO! let them go!” heesung yelled, his voice changing into something more sinister than his usual soft voice.
You can feel as if your skin is burning hot but you’re too scared to open your eyes. The body that’s on top on you begins to fall to your side. And to the result, you see heesung covered blood that’s splattered on his face and shirt.
The pain continues to grow and you yell in agony. Heesung kneels down towards you and caresses your face. He smiled and takes your hand, making you sit against the wall.
It was quiet. After everything that went on you didn’t expect there to be silence. You look behind him and noticed that the possessed friend of his is laying down on the ground. Motionless and blood pooling around him.
“What happened when i blacked out?”
“ I took care of the person who tried to hurt you, y/n” he smiled lightly.
“But...but he was just possessed and-“ you mumbled.
He shushed you again. He stood up and lend you his hand so you can stand up. He pulled you into a tight hug, pushing your head towards his chest. You weren’t happy let’s just say. He smelled like blood, and now you probably do too. The blood that he had on was now left stains on your shirt.
“Come on let’s go...” he began to walk towards the corridor. You looked around the room seeing that the body that was on you before is also in a pool of blood.
“Heesung i’m not gonna go with you until you tell me what happened... and what you are?”
He paced around the room, pushing his hair back. He sighed, and tried to think if he should be honest or come up with a lie.
“I tried to protect myself from my possessed friend and he fell onto a piece of broken glass that was on the floor. And for the other guy... I don’t know he just fell to the ground.”
You looked at him with intensity, trying to see if he’s lying or not. You didn’t want to argue as to want happened, so you took his word.
“Okay... i believe you Heesung”
He smiled and you smiled back. You were extremely tired and it was a long night. You took your phone out of your pocket and checked the time. It was currently 3:58am, meaning that you spent nearly 4 hours at this hectic place.
“Come on y/n let’s go”
He took your hand and led you towards the corridor and after awhile you guys found the exit. It was a cold night and the moon light shined through the trees seeping onto your skin
Heesung and you continue to walk towards gate that surrounded the perimeter of the asylum and jumped it. Leaving behind everything that happened recently and went to the nearest place.
‘i wonder what happened to the others?’ you thought.
Tumblr media
The friends that you came with inside the abandoned building were left on the floor, blood pooling their motionless bodies. A man stood with pride lurking over the bodies.
“Find my son and make sure he comes back this time, HE CANT KEEP RUNNING AWAY FROM ME. I wouldn’t let him, even if that means that i have to kill everyone that crossed paths with him. Understood!” the man yelled at the others that stood near the door.
“Yes sir! and with that the 2 men that once stood with the mysterious man are now out the door.
He chuckled and laughed as the moon shined on his face.
If only Heesung and y/n knew what’s going to come.
Tagged by the always lovely @myletternevercame. Thanks babe < 3
how many works do you have on AO3? 57
what’s your total ao3 word count? 18,2645 (dang!)
what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Acts of Man | Merlin | Merlin/Arthur
Nightmares | PJO | Jason/Percy
Looking for the Things We Lost | Teen Wolf | Peter/Stiles
Here I Am (Stuck in the Middle With You) | PJO | Jason/Percy
The Legend is True | Teen Wolf | Peter/Stiles
do you respond to comments, why or why not? I try to as often as I can. When I first post something and I get an influx of comments, I try to do it once a day. But when I get random comments on old stuff, I often forget to go back and reply, but I read every single one, and I do try to remember to write back.
what’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? Oh man. Most of my fics happy endings... But the happiest?? Probably Acts of Man, since it's a Christmas fic and it has this kind of storybook coda on the end of it.
what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? Hmm. My older fics tended to be a little more angsty and open ended... probably this old Sterek fic Those Who Hunt Us or this Isaac Lahey study Bygone
do you write crossovers? Not much anymore, but I did a cool 3 sentence fic challenge back in 2014 and each prompt (from tumblr folks at the time) were things like MJN air + Supernatural or Sherlock and John work at Mooby's. I also have a soft spot for this Sherlock/Cowboy Bebop xover cleverly called 221Bebop: Honky Tonk Woman. And of course, there is the abandoned HP/Sherlock crossover bestie and I started and will never finish, so IDK why I even bring it up. Actually come to think of it, I also had the Sherlock Monstrumologist one... I just wrote a lot of Sherlock xover fic back in the day, huh.
have you ever received hate on a fic? Not on AO3 comments. I haven't gotten some odd reviews/comments, but I have been very fortunate to have not experienced much of this in my 20+ years in fandom.
do you write smut? if so, what kind? Yes. All of the kinds?? I remember thinking it was such a big deal to write a "lemon" back int the day, and now it's old hat. Of course, I can't really write PWPs (I think I have one maybe??), I always have to write a giant backstory just to get to the good stuff (see my 18k GW beast of a fic for a lemon/smut fest. smhd)
have you ever had a fic stolen? not that I'm aware of...
have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! And it's such an insanely wonderful honor. I've also had fics written that are inspired by mine and I just... blanket permission to anyone who wants to remix, translate, art, whatever my work. It's so flattering.
Most recently, I had Black Sails in the Sunset translated into Portuguese.
have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes, but it was abandoned. I would love to do something like that again. Or something slightly different, like a comic *cough*@bettertasting*cough*
what’s your all-time favourite ship? How does one even answer that? Heero/Duo was the ship that got me into fandom; Harry/Draco is something I will still occasionally return to when I want like nostalgic comfort; Merlin/Arthur has some of the best fanworks I've ever consumed and they feel more like canon works than fanon; I've been reading and writing Stiles/Peter for like 5 years now... So, this is my non-answer. IDK man. I have a whole fleet and I'm ok with that.
what’s a wip that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? I had this idea for a Stranger Things OT3 fic at the end of Season 1, and then I wrote the first chapter and never posted it or wrote more before Season 2 dropped, and meh. I'll never go back to it. I loved the idea, but the characters have changed so much, I don't think I could capture what I wanted anymore. Maybe I'll post my WIPs I'll never finish someday and clean out my WIP folder.
what are your writing strengths? I think I'm funny and can inject that well into characters? And I like to think that I am good at writing in the character voice.
what are your writing weaknesses? If I need a "real" plot. Like, I cannot write case fics or mission fics or anything like that. I spent ages reworking my last fic so I could "Kevin Smith" the action by only have characters talk about some stuff that happened to them, and never see any of it on screen.
what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? I think I would take the easy way out and do it like: "blah blah blah" she said in French; or "she let out a rant in French" but never actually worry about translating anything.
what was the first fandom you wrote for? Gundam Wing! And back at it 20 years later!
what’s your favourite fic you’ve written? Hmmm. I really do like the last fic I wrote, my reentry to GW:
Our Love Keeps the Things it Finds | Gundam Wing | Heero/Duo/Trowa
And on the other end of the spectrum, and short 500 word fic that I really, really love:
A Slow Deep Panic | PJO | pre-Jason/Percy-ish
ok tagging: @punchedbymarkesmith @gatesofdisorder @lolahardy @pineappleglazedham @gentleranium @theheadgirl and you! Yes, you! Do you write fic? Are we mutuals? Do you want me to tag you in things? Let me know by doing this and tagging me!
