But my final thoughts!

As you can see from above, I want BB, M, and FP to win. I only realized that I just needed Samatoki in there to be TDD haha Honestly a bit disappointing that I didn’t but lemme explain myself for my reasons.

While I do love the new divisions (I’m a hard DH fan tbh lol), I mostly wanted to focus on how it would affect the story and then the group’s performance. Since the start, before the lives, I wanted to support BB, M, and MTC. As you can see, It’s been changed from MTC to FP X”D 

(Black Journey is too powerful imo it has me rolling every time. Though ramuda’s first beginning aprt definitely caught me off guard and that lil intro had me laughing. That chorus??? Freaking <3<3) 

Buster Bros, I think I only got around to talk about the first two groups never the next two pfft. As much as I would like to see our favorite comedy duo win, I really want them to beat their father and get a sense of victory as well. I won’t forget the fact that they were the first to go first DRB rip   Re:Start is ultimately better than Wara Osaka in my opinion, even if its tacky dance lives rent free in my mind and I think about them often lol. Jiro’s Aniki is going to take some time to get used to, but I think that development (all of them, save Ichiro tbh ??) in the drama track has pulled my heartstrings and they’re adorable.

Hmm, honestly when it does come to M vs BAT, my sibling has had me conflicted many times. (She’s also the one that converted me from MTC to FP blame her lol) It’s true- if BB is going to win, wouldn’t we want a Naughty Busters like reunion? If we aren’t going to get it from DH and MTC that is. Kaigen and RIP are also superb compared to Tomoshibi... (it was a good song I swear- just come on, BAT had more energy this time around XD It fit the hype I was looking for in the 2nd DRB) Rip for Kuko’s scream that isn’t in the actual recording only in the live ashdjkk. If he doesn’t do that future lives still Imma be sad lmao. Anyways I don’t think the “champions” should just go afterwards either. Also les make that inferior complex worse ehhhhh jkjk Also, overall I just feel like M’s popularity and that Drama track might secure them that win. I think the plot might be cleaner then?? Of course, it’s all debatable and Im sure that if either team won, the story could still develop just fine.

Dear goodness, Jyuuto’s part in Hunting Charm actually haunts me. Anyways, Fp doesn’t deserve to lose, what was that one joke floating around about the pink one getting it. Please. Just let them trick or treat form other clones, he doesn’t deserve this ajhsjkkk While as much as I think Samatoki deserves that win and revenge for Nemu (Also potentially meeting her?? But ig he doesn’t have to win to have that opportunity) I feel that FP’s stronger bond and passion to live might push them for that win.

I’ll be honest, for the amount of hype that I had for the 2nd DRB, DhvsBB disappointed me... In the sense of energy of course- I still find it a heckin good bop. But I think what I wanted was just them spitting fire at each other, just fire XDD It was cute- their lil manzai and joking, but I think it would’ve been cooler to throw heat in there. Seemed more to DH’s vibe than a mixed battle vibe. 

Now the other two songs, much like the past DRB songs were LIT. I absolutely loved them. That banger part in Reason to Fight that makes me throw my hands in the air to go with the beat (Yall know it lol) is killer. Doppo’s scream -beautiful as always (but also Jyushi’s and kuko’s lol)- including just the raw energy I felt from Light Shadow was absolutely phenomenal. 

I honestly wish there was more anger(?) in Dh and Bb But I also get why it didn’t lol Either way, although they're like my top favorite divisions, that’s my reasoning. I’d chat about the Drama tracks too, but tbh I haven’t seen the translations yet so I don’t wanna spread misconceptions lol

Omen headcanons under the cut!

So the new update gave us a little more info on multiple things yes? So in this essay I will talk about a few Omen conspiracy theories-

First off, we have the "Dark Side Beyond" spray. I think what we see is a portal (or maybe some kind of mirror? could be both tbh), showing us what is most likely Split, which is also very heavily influenced by Kingdom, might be even Kingdom HQ as far as we know. Everything is black inside, just like Radianite, so what if this "Dark side beyond" is the original source of Radianite? It looks like some kind of alternate world, the same as the current world but at the same time, the polar opposite. Omen has the taunt towards Sage: "The life you give, do you ever wonder where it's taken from?" he might be referring to this place, I'm gonna get back to this in a second...

So, we have the "Experiment X011" card, which made me think of Omen immediately. They might not be connected whatsoever, but the "light" ascaping from the stone in a similar manner as it escapes Omen makes me assume he is heavily related to these events, which might be even how he became a Radiant in the first place. Kingdom has taken notice of the giant piece of *glowing* Radianite and they went to investigate, which can be seen on the card. They found it strange, they haven't really seen shit like that before so they started experimenting on it, unaware that Omen was inside of it. Maybe when he got "hit", as a reaction the Radianite formed around him? Who knows I'm just writing what comes to mind here. So Omen got out Aang-style, then Kingdom continued on with the experiments on him, enhancing his abilities, but tearing him apart over and over again in the process. It was Sabine who was there to patch him up,  that's how they met, when she still used to heal. My thoughts on this matter are  all over the place so I will probably get back to these later? Hmm. Knowing myself probably not.

Let's get back to "Dark Side Beyond" for a second. The origins of this substance (probs Radianite) might have come from such a portal, pulling/forcing part of the other world with it. This might have collided with Omen when he was still a human, making him become a pretty fucked up Radiant, fusing him with the part of the world that has been pulled onto earth...? That caused Omen to co-exist in both worlds at once, but struggle to stay consistent. If he were to die in one world, he will still live in the other. Omen is constantly talking about him having to keep it together, or "I feel the strain... block it out Omen! (...) I can feel her (Sage) pull against the natural balance." So back to Sage: I think she has to take lifeforms in order to revive someone else, and these souls just happened to be pulled by her from the "dark side beyond" to the real world to revive someone, a life for a life and all. Now Omen can feel her disrupt that alternate world, pulling her hand on the scale and upsetting the "balance".

Ten days, it took ten days for those damn holes in their mouth to heal enough to get their stitches removed, but the satisfation of being told they could begin doing hard physical labor was music to their ears, because they had a certain bot in mind they wanted to spoil rotten.

Walking down the halls of the lost light numerous bots made their best effort to avoid them and go the opossite direction of where they were headed, as the smile on their face said it all, and no one wanted to be around for what would happen.... Poor Ultra Magnus’ audio receptors still haven’t recovered.

But as they got closer to thier target, the grin on their face took on an almost evil look to it, as they planned to more than make up for lost time.

Swerve:

 Swerve was not expecting this. When his dear human had come to him after getting the stitches removed saying they wanted to celebrate he though a movie night was planned, or maybe a cute date. 

But here he found himself strapped to the berth, blindfolded and interface panel open, his dear human stroking his thighs lightly.

“I missed this so much baby, seeing you be such a good boy for me. Look at how wet your little valve is for me. Such a pretty valve, does baby want me to play with his tight little valve?” Shivers ran through his entire body. He knew the rules. He knew he wasn’t aloud talking yet, and he was supposed to wait, but dear primus did they make it hard.

“Such a good boy, following the rules... Good boys get rewards.” He didn’t have time to process what was said, the only thing he could proces was the feeling of his partner eating out his valve like a starved man.

They were merciless, and unlike usual, they held back nothing. His first overload hit him like a crashing wave, as he was used to having to wait for it. His fourth overload left him shaking without an end in sight, and they still showed no sign of stopping.

Swerve know they could go for a long time, their session usually lasted a long time, but he didn’t realise that when not denying him of an overload they could draw more from him that he though possible, pain or no pain.

By the time he finally came to he felt nearly raw, every part of him on fire due to over stimulation. He didn’t know what day it was, where he was or his name. But he did know that he was in for a lot more, the deep chuckle that came from his partner told him as much.

Fort Max:

Fort Max was never the one to start anything in the relationship, not even the relationship itself. That job would go to his human partner, who was much smaller and much more confident. So he was used to taking a less dominant role, but this was something new.

“Look how pretty you are, so perfect for me. Does baby want me to touch him? Touch his pretty little tight valve?” The strained moan he gave was answer enough for his human lover because they were on him in an instant.

But this time something was very different. He was used to them going slow and praising him every single moment they weren’t eating him out slowly and lovingly. But this time they were intense, not that he minded, pleasure clouded his senses to quickly for him for form an opinion.

“Look how wet you are, baby you could almost drown me with how wet your pussy is.” That was also new.” Please... Please don’t stop.” His human did not need to be told twice.

He was so overwhelmed her hardly even noticed his first overload hit, it was the second one that hit him so hard he was sure he was going to offline, and as much as he would hate to admit it, he tapped out before he could reach his third.

“Too much?”“ G-give me a moment.”“ hmm, ok. If you think you can go on then I should warn you I plan on using my new toy on you, and you won’t be getting a wink of sleep tonight.”

Fort max had a choice to make, and he wasn’t sure what was scarier, the fact he knew he would likely pass out, or that he was actually considering it.

Rung: 

Rung would like to say that he was good at picking up on a person’s intentions, but when his beloved human walked into his habsuite he was terrified, as their face betrayed nothing.

When a grin broke out on their face and they announced that the stitches had been removed... Well Rung knew then and there what he was in for. What he did not know was just how intense it would be.

They had agreed before that bondage was ok, they had agreed sensory deprivation was ok, they had agreed that dirty talk was most definitly ok... Rung did not take into account what it would do to him if his partner used all three at once.

“So good, you’re so good for me Rung. But you’re making a mess, look how much your pretty valve is leaking everywhere. Am I gonna have to clean it up for you?”“ P-please.” He could hardly get a single word out but his partner just hummed.

“Please what? You have to use your words Rung. What do you want?”“ Your mouth... Use your mouth on my valve.”“ I’d be happy to.

The feeling was amazing, after being teased for so long the near instant relief he felt was amazing, and his first overload took him... But then they didn’t stop. They kept lapping at his valve, laying kisses and sucking, he felt his head dizzy, and soon enough his second overload took him.

It may have been at overload 6 or seven that he had to call it quits. He was an old bot, and he was nearly sure that his spark would give out if he reached another overload. but the moment he had uttered the semblance of the word ‘stop’ all contact ceased, and the blindfold was taken off.

“You ok babe? I didn hurt you did I?”“ N-no... Just intense.” His human lover slowly undid the binding and went about getting him some energon.

“Wanna stop for the night? We can cuddle and watch Legally blond again?” As they came back with a small ammount of energon and the proposal to indulge in his guilty pleasure he couldn’t help but agree.

He would have to keep in mind how intense his human could get.

Why I like them

This kid has been through so much and rightfully feels a lot of hurt and anger towards the world because of everything that happened to them, and I,,, Get That. In a lot of ways they remind me of being an angry and lonely teen, and seeing how they navigate the world and cope with their life is in a lot of ways very comforting and validating. They’re just such a real character and I appreciate them a lot for that.

Why I don’t

With all of the above said, sometimes I do wanna punt Lost for their anger and outbursts. They are a little shit and if they were a kid I knew at that time of my life i’d wanna square up with them. But they’re honestly quite valid for their behavior and now I kinda just want to see them taken care of and listened to - they deserve that much.

Purl is probably the most unique take on Hollow I’ve seen so far and I LOVE THAT ABOUT THEM. Purl has so much personality and sass and these clear and distinct interests and behaviors and mannerisms and I just,,,,, god I love them so much. I love seeing a Hollow recover and find such a strong identity in their new life, like they are definitely one of my favorite Hollows out there.

Ok I remember their knitfic very vividly simply because I helped beta it, so I can actually pull from that but!!! the moment when they close off again after tearing the thread and their ensuing frustration,,,, that Spoke to me so much in such a deep way. That whole fic tbh was full of a lot of moments that hit very close to home for me, and there’s always going to be a level of comfort and safety to find it reading that fic.

What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  twipri has been my favorite video game of all time since i first played it the xmas after it came out, when i was 7. it was an unbelievably huge influence on my life, and got me through a whole lot of shit i’d have to go through up until i was a teenager. it was a constant for me, a comfort. and link, being the protagonist, was of course the center of it. i connected to him really hard, and becoming him whenever i played the game was like magic to me as a kid. honestly, i dont know why i didnt write him until this year, because he’s been such an easy headspace for me to slip into for years. ig i just figured it was about time? id already written both tp zel and midna at separate points, so it was only right to complete the trio ksjfgh

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  mm i don’t mind it, but i don’t really see the point. rp is a form of writing that doesn’t need much editing, and when it does, we are our own editors, so of course we’re going to make mistakes and overlook them. english is a complicated and hard language, and typos/misspellings/grammar errors happen and it’s not a big deal

Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  yes!! i’m a very laid-back person in general i think, and of course i have things i won’t tolerate and i’ll speak up when i need to, but at the end of the day rp is a hobby, and it’s something we do to have fun, and i know that having fun is the most important part of doing this. though, sometimes i think my anxiety & fear of confrontation might make me a little too lenient on things like my own rules tho kjfhg

aye, really starting to loathe the “yaz kills either graham/ryan whilst under the dalek influence” like-

1. first of all. hate this presumption that graham/ryan have to die. personally, im fine with companions dying - clara’s penultimate exit in face the raven was done beautifully, i think, and i will FOREVER resent them not leaving it like that. however with graham and ryan? literally, i just feel like... it’s so cheap. it offers nothing, babes! and it’s just infinitely LESS interesting than if you just kept them alive.

all the companions, in my opinions, still lack development. i do love them! i really am warming to them. but we’re two seasons in, and the fact of the matter remains they just... haven’t gelled too well with the show proper and they aren’t as fully realised as they should be by this point. and frankly, its not one singular problem moreso it’s an interwoven web of issues (hence it’s hard to really unpick that, without unravelling the whole mess) that have affected the show completely. the point is, despite being here so long, they just still feel so unexplored as people and a little unknown to us and idk!!! i think killing them, wouldn’t offer much in the way of anything interesting - other than, like i said, a very cheap way to instigate tragedy, and springboard some trauma-induced development for yaz&13 - because we aren’t really gaining more than we’re losing here, man.

clara’s exit in face the raven WORKED because it had been building up to it all season. i also dont like amy/rory’s exits (but that’s v potentially my own biases) but theoretically, i can see the vision for that- and the reason why that would be so tragic, is BECAUSE amy&rory are so fully formed at tht point that that loss hits. im not sayin graham&ryan dying would NOT be sad, but it’s... just too soon, still, for me. and when, narratively speaking, they’ve been setting up them thinking about leaving anyway? at least, ryan has? just doesn’t feel quite right at all and just like i said: a pointless attempt, at taking their exits, and doing weird tragedy shit with it for the sake of it.

especially when the ALTERNATIVE is they can stay on in the same way martha did: on earth, totally fine, and with the opportunity to reappear in later seasons. they can progress offscreen in ways that can be satisfying, in the way martha did. she moved on; she became someone different; and yet that change was still guided by what we had seen. same can be done with ryan and graham, finishing their stories and making them all the more satisfying.

2. piggybacking off of that. literally, this scenario of yaz killing them: what would that DO for yaz exactly? like.. what big payoff are u expecting from her? you’re just... horrifically traumatising her. and im wondering, like- where would that leave her in s13?  because she’s supposed to still be here, then, and supposedly travelling with the doctor. and again it just feels so damn cheap: because yaz really does still feel like she’s at the beginning of her story, despite being here for two years (and god am i a little mad abt that; it’s so, so sad that she really could be replaced with a cardboard cutout for most of s11). explore what we HAVE of her, first, before trying to go so damn dark with her. it’s not going to have the payoff you want. you have to work a bit more, to do something like that first. using some fucked up shit like that, just as a springboard for character development it just- it feels so damn lazy to me...  and again, i do not feasibly see how this could properly segue into s13 on that damn note. like the conse

3. and just... god in general. i just. okay again with chibbers and his writing. literally i dont want to sound so negative abt chibnall bc like SOME ppl really do just fucking attack . KILL. over every damn thing, without a breath and its like... okay babe. okay. and i mean, granted i can be a little like tht with moffat tbh - and so  i get ppl do get a little FERVENT when it comes to shit they dont like but- BUT MY POINT IS. i really dont hate-hate this era of who. s7 will still be my least favourite, even if i do still regard this all as bottom of the pile stuff- and that is frustrating, because it really does have potential! but anyway god. what was my fucking point. oh yeah. chibnall. if this was the case.... if this really did fucking happen. god no offence but fucking hell i do not trust chibnall to treat such a heavy scene well enough. not with the way s11 and s12 have been. and its just because... again this is all the WEB OF ISSUES with these seasons... but all of it just boils down to: every single script really needed a second or third pass over. ITS LIKE, things are kinda right, but its always jsut...wrong and its soi many things that just dont quite work and  instead all work in tandem to bring this ship down.

too many companions, leading to a bloated tardis; leading to none of them getting enough focus; leading to weaker characters whose dynamics with each other aren’t always hitting. there’s swathes of s12, where the doctor is just completely disconnected from the companions altogether. she just doesnt talk to them. and there’s a difference between her being detached, and her just.... LITERALLT FORGETTING THEY EXIST. i remember- was it ryan who disappears at one poimt, and she JUST DOESNT NOTICE? and then all of them disappear in fugitive? like its just so... the companion-docgtor relationship is so INTEGRAL to the whole show!!! it makes story beats less effective; not even that, the whole energy is brought down, because they just don’t TALK properly (and the dialogue... good god, is it stiff: and whilst i hated 11′s era of mutated LOL THAT’S SO RANDOM. THE HORSE IS NAMED SUSAN. BOWTIES FEZ FEZ HOW MANY MARKETABLE RANDOM SHIT CAN WE THROW AT THE PAAAGE it felt like characters were bouncing off each other... there’s now these long pauses, places where it should have been snappier, awkward remarks thrown in there and then) . it, again, bloats EVERYTHING bc half the time you have to just give stuff for these ppl to do and its like man, why! why ! its all so.... sloppy in a way that’s sad bc it was ALMOST right. things are ALMOST right here but it doesnt QUITE work and it needs pulling together into something neater, tighter.  AND GIVEN ALL OF THAT. i do not think, with the way he’s been handling things, this man would ever be capable of pulling off something as fucked up like that in a way that has any weight even disregarding the two above points

Hi. I leave for BCT very soon. I will also be at Fort Jackson. How was it? I’m getting extremely nervous as the date approaches. Anything that you can tell me that you wish you knew? Any tips at all would be great.

Hmm, that’s a good question. Keep reading if you want my advice on basic, as someone who completed it recently. In summary, it was rough but worth it.

(Every fort is different so if you are not going to go to Fort Jackson this might differ slightly)

About Basic

+ I didn’t know this when I went, I thought I was going straight to basic but there is a period beforehand before you go to basic that involves very elementary training. How to stand, how to March, all of those things are taught during this time though you definitely get better at them in Basic. The name of it is escaping me now but before basic when you ship off you’ll go there (it’s in the same state, and it will give you a light taste of what basic will be like). Basic is very difficult physically during the beginning.

+ Make sure your hair is in the requirements before you go. Males get their hair buzzed off so it doesn’t really matter but make sure to shave your face or get a profile for it if your face gets super irritated. Females with hair below their collar, yall better have perfected that tight ass bun or have your hair cut the right way above the collar. You can look up the exact requirements online but I cut my hair down so I wouldn’t have to bother with it, waking up is hard enough much less having to put your hair in a bun every single time. Females cant shave their entire head like the guys, so make sure you look up appropriate short hair cuts ( yes, ik its bullshit but its an old regulation)

+ If you don’t know your soldier’s Creed and those types of things ( you can Google search them, they’ll pop right up if you look up BCT requirements) because DS will ask you and you don’t wanna be the person that gets everyone messed up because you don’t know it fully. Know your APFT requirements. I would say make sure you can get close to them but if you have left soon don’t worry about it, they’ll get you there if you do the punishments right and work out. Use those foam rollers!!

+ Drink waaatterr! (You’ll get it after)

This is going to sound stupid but seriously drink water, some DS will be annoying and not want you to drink on the drill floor unless you are told so but usually it’s okay. Don’t be the person that faints because of heatstroke. You’re going around the time I did, which was in August, so the start of BCT will be hot but once you are in AIT it will start getting colder.

+ This sounds like common sense but you’ll be surprised how uncommon it is once you get there, don’t argue with a DS.

Just don’t. Unless it’s something serious that you could get held back for, just let it go. If they call you dumb? Ignore it. Call you slow? Ignore it. Work on that poker face, they are just trying to get a rise out of you or see you break. Accuse you of sleeping in class when you were looking at your fingers? Don’t fight it.

Most of the time, they are just looking for someone to argue with them and if you just agree your punishment is not that bad or you might not get punished at all or just get a lecture.

+ Sunday mornings are for religious times and the DS are not allowed to plan activities during that allowed time or punish you ( they can make you stand outside for hours tho so don’t use it as something to fall back on)

If you don’t want/need to go to church, use this time to write to family and friends, do hygiene ( not showering because you can’t leave quickly from that if y'all get called down), some people shave their legs (tbh I didn’t care no one is trying to impress anyways), some people draw or write. If you are going to try to take a nap, don’t do it on your cot or anywhere where a DS can walk in and immediately see you. No one wants to get in trouble because someone was sleeping, if someone is and you hear a DS coming, wake them the fuck up.

Church wise, I went a couple of times even though I’m not religious, to see a friend of mine who was in a different unit because everyone goes to the same churches for different services, including those it AIT. Don’t be dumb and try to use someone’s phone you will get caught, don’t be dumb and try to give someone your phone to use you will get caught. Other then that, the Spanish Christian church is the best in my opinion. Though I only know a bit of Spanish I had a wonderful time and most in translated into English anyhow. It’s absolutely lovely to see people singing and dancing, waving flags and having a good time after such a stressful previous week.

I can’t tell you where to sleep to not be seen in the barracks but I’m sure you’ll figure that out on your own.

+ If you wear a bra and have to wear one if you are doing physical exercise, wear one to bed. It may be really uncomfortable but if you are woken up in the middle of the night to be punished because someone was sleeping on fireguard, you’ll be happy you aren’t running around without one.

+Help clean your barracks! Don’t be that person that gets everyone fucked up because you don’t know how to hospital fold your bed corners, clean up sand from off the floor or you slacked off during your fireguard shift and everyone gets woken up to be punished. Make sure your uniform is correct and your name tags are on the right side before going out ( I remember it as the Army tag goes over your heart, left side.). Tuck in your shirt if you are in the PT uniform, and make sure your battle buddies aren’t fucked up, because if you don’t check them, a DS will and then no one will be happy cuz you’ll be punished for not looking after one another.

+ If basic is anything, it’s a group effort. No platoon is perfect, and yes your going to have people that you want to smack upside the head, but try as much as you can to help out (especially on obstacle courses, tall people I’m talking to you) and make sure your platoon isn’t the one that DS keep on having to call out for being fucked up.

+ Dear gods, please remember to call the drill floor to stand at attention when a high ranking officer walks up if you see them. You can look up exactly what ranks but please do it for the sake of your platoon. Go to parade rest when you are talking to anyone else or you’ll get punished for it

+ Never go anywhere alone! If you have to discuss something private or sensitive with a DS, still take a battle buddy. The battle buddy system is a real thing and not only helps you create stronger bonds but can really save your ass if you forget something and they remember.

+ DS are going to be the meanest people you’ve ever met for the first phase (red) but you’ll get to know their personalities later on, most stay stern but it isn’t as bad. If you have an issue that could be life-threatening or dangerous, tell them. There is no DS that would want to see their soldier fall because of something that could have been prevented.

+ Only use sick hall if you are really sick! Try not to use it during any training events, especially days where you are going to the shooting range. If you miss even one time at the shooting range, it can really mess you up for any future shooting range events. I missed one and had to get my weapon fixed while everyone else was already qualifying. Clean your damn weapon! Either 

+ Not everything is a requirement to pass basic, I don’t want to tell you what isn’t as you should try your best on everything but number one most important thing that you will get held back for if you don’t pass is the last APFT. You’ll know which one it is because it will be right before the forge, a battle buddy of mine was held back because of it and had to go to an entirely different unit (some people weren’t given a second chance because they did so horribly on it but most were) to take it again and had to go to the forge with them.

+ Don’t! Fraternize! I don’t care if you haven’t had someone kiss you since you were a baby, you can wait till your out of basic! I cannot tell you how many people got caught and messed up for that. If you think writing notes to each other is a good idea, don’t. If you think writing in a journal about them is a good idea, don’t. Those people always get caught, and this goes for gay people too. Y'all are a little less obvious but I cannot tell you how stressful it is for someone to be sleeping in someone else bed when you are on fireguard and you see the DS come in. Don’t be that person. You can get thrown out of basic for it, it isn’t worth your military career. Don’t even touch people of the other sex, even if you are gay, don’t give the DS any reason to try and call you out on it.

+Find friends of the same athletic or slightly better caliber as you. Train with them during free time in the later phases (though you won’t want to) run with them on the APFT test, don’t talk in formation on the frill form with them but carry a conversation when you are allowed to. It helps the time go by and you all can vent to one another about how basic sucks. I’m still friends with the people I went with ( not all of them of course, some people are just irritating and you have to learn to ignore them) and I even went to the wedding of one. We send each other mail and sometimes presents if we hear someone is feeling down since some are active army and others are National guard so we are split up everywhere.

+ While the start of basic is difficult mostly physically and a bit of a culture shock, the last couple of weeks are mentally draining to the core. Once you finish the forge, you will want to get out of there like nothing else. Try to be patient, it’s more difficult then it sounds but this is where most people mess up and screw their training even though they only have a matter of days left. It’s temporary and you will be out before you know it, even if it feels like an eternity spent with these people. I can still name the people who pissed me off and it’s been months and months since I left.

After Basic

+ AIT is better, but it’s still going to be training in the military. I can only speak about fort Jackson AIT because I went there for that as well (42 Alpha, yay). Just because you can get coffee at the DFACT doesn’t mean a DS won’t punish you for doing dumb shit.

Don’t miss the fireguard briefing in AIT, the DS come up in different punishments all the time so don’t be the one they experiment on. One time I and my roommates along with other people stood out in the cold for literally hours waiting for the DS because we missed the briefing and he left us there until he felt like we had learned our lesson. Not the worst punishment but damn if I wasn’t shaking like a leaf.

+ It does get better. I can’t speak for active or reserve, but the unit that I am with now, have some of the nicest people I’ve ever met and I could not be happier. It will be more relaxed (I’m sure active and reserve are to different degrees) and far more friendly than training so don’t stress too much when you eventually leave training and go to your unit.

Things to keep in mind.

It doesn’t last forever. Don’t become unmotivated because you know you have a lot of time still, it sucks ass sometimes but keep your chin up and keep going. Stopping only slows down the process ( unless you are really hurt or need help please don’t hesitate. I waited too long on an injury and I have to do physical therapy for it so stay safe friends)

You won’t see these people forever. While that can be sad in some ways, it’s also a relief as well. They are temporarily in your life, so try and manage not lashing out at them even if you believe they deserve it. No one benefits from extra stress in training so don’t be a source of it.

Sometimes letters take a while to send. Don’t become upset because no one has sent you a letter yet, I got mine faster then my friend in that state did and I live in Delaware. Even though the DS will make jokes about it, your family still loves you and are trying to do their best to reach out to you. If you get something serious or awful news do not hesitate to have a private conversation with a DS. They may seem to mean but they care about your well-being and need to be in the know if something is going on that could impair your ability to train as expected.

Keep a journal if you can. If it becomes stressful, don’t. Mine only has entries from some days, and they definitely are sequential, but try it out. If you need to vent by writing,. Use not obvious code words for people, you don’t want a DS reading it and calling you out for it. It’s interesting reading them once it’s all over, good or bad memories included. I have a ton of pages where there are huge inkblots because I fell asleep while writing. Lol

Don’t psych yourself out. Everyone messed up and gets punished at least once even if you fly under the radar. It’s bound to happen and while you shouldn’t try to make it happen, don’t cry over spilled milk.

Don’t cry in front of a DS if they are yelling at you but feel free to just let it out where ever else. Crying can be very therapeutic and even relive stress, don’t feel ashamed of you had a stress cry during lights out from a bad day, you aren’t weak and they are definitely other people doing the same. As someone who used to cry if someone yelled at me, Basic was a learning curve and one hell of one but it’s not impossible to any sense. People completed it before you many times and people will do it after you many times, you can do it.

You will most likely get homesick or at least miss your loved ones. Again, everything is only temporary. Don’t try to end your training early because you want to go home, it won’t happen and it may even prolong your stay. Get it done and over with so you can see your family on family day and go eat some french fries with them.

1. Tell us about your WIP!

Heh, which one? I’ve started writing chapter three of We Are Made Wise because I’m finally getting over my block (I think there was a little burnout). I’ve just updated Old Man Luke, and Pineapple 2 is next. I’m almost finished with my next original short, I’ve figured out where to go next in my novel, and...yeah. :)

2. Where is your favorite place to write?

Where it’s quiet and I can focus. Sometimes that’s the living room. Sometimes it’s my office. Sometimes it’s the Starbucks on the corner. 

4. Do you have any writing habits/rituals?

Depends on where I am. I have to have some sort of ritual to get focused. In my office, I light candles. In the living room, I put on music. At the coffee shop, I have a snack. 

6. Favorite character you’ve written?

My original character, Jamie, from my book is a HOOT. He’s a gay Jewish teen whose convinced that *he* will be the one to capture definitive proof of the Jersey Devil. He’s the non-magical pov in the fic, and his voice is fun. 

7. Favorite/most inspirational book?

Well, on the one hand, I re-wrote the Hobbit, so that’ book is clearly an inspiration. 

8. Do you have any writing buddies or critique partners?

@brydylcai is my in-house sounding board, the same way I am for her. I don’t have a regular beta, but I’ve worked with several depending on the project/story, and they’re all lovely people.

I love revelations/coming out stories. I hate deliberate misunderstandings.

11. What are you planning to work on next?

I have the doc with We Are Made Wise open, so either that or my next short, depending on if I write more tonight or wait until tomorrow. 

12. Which story of yours do you like best? why?

Comes Around Again is the one that earned me what little notoriety I have, and Old Man Luke is doing the same in Star Wars, but I’m most proud of Drowned in Moonlight. That fic was written to excise some grief over Carrie Fisher, and I think I did her proud. 

13. Describe your writing process

I’m tempted to say “Incoherent screaming into the void” but that’s a joke that’s been made before. My process. Hmm. 

I tend to write by the seat of my pants. I like to see what develops and grows naturally. Once I get to a certain point, I’ll stop and make a plot sheet/note page, but I usually have the rough shape figured out before I start to write. 

Once I have a draft, I’ll edit. Sometimes I’ll print and edit on paper. Sometimes I edit online. My original works tend to get more editing than my fanworks. 

14. What does it take for you to be ready to write a book? (i.e. do you research? outline? make a playlist or pinterest board? wing it?)

ha ha ha ha - My original novel has been 15 years in the works, and has gone through many drafts. It’s working now, but I need familiarity. So, I think what I need is research for context and an outline for plot, and a good enough knowledge to feel like I’m winging it. 

15. How do you deal with self-doubt when writing?

I put it down. If I’m not confident on one project, I’ll put it down and turn to another. (This usually means putting down my original work in favor of fanfic, because I’m more confident with that overall, but...). I know what sounds right to my ear, and if I’m not hearing it, there’s usually a reason. Distance/time often lets me see it. 

17. What things (scenes/topics/character types) are you most comfortable writing?

I’m a Jersey Girl, so I tend to set things in Jersey. I love dramatic conversations, so I’m comfortable there. Queer characters. 

18. Tell us about that one book you’ll never let anyone read

That I wrote? Or that I read? Twilight/50 Shades. 

19. How do you cope with writer’s block?

I beat it with a hammer unitl it’s writer’s pebbles. 

20. Any advice for young writers/advice you wish someone would have given you early on?

Write what you love. Write the truths that you know, and research to write the things you don’t know. Don’t be afraid to break your characters; you can put them back together in new and interesting ways. You’ll be given a lot of advice over the years--read enough to recognize what you like. Develop your taste. Take the advice that helps taylor your work to your taste. Reject the advice that changes it away. 

21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of?

Subtle meanings and implications.

Seat. Of. My. Pants and flailing. Seriously, I write something because it sounds right, and then figure out how it works after. 

26. What’s the most research you’ve ever put into a book?

I wrote parts of CAA with the hobbit, the lotr, the unfinished tales, and the moves on and open in front of me. 

I became a pagan, and my research for that has influenced my writing of my book. 

27. Every writer's least favorite question - where does your inspiration come from? Do you do certain things to make yourself more inspired? Is it easy for you to come up with story ideas?

I mentioned I was pagan? My patron, Brigid, is among other things, a muse. She pokes, and I start thinking (or I think, and she eggs me on. I’m not sure of the order. could be either or both). But, most of my ideas come from things I read. When I want inspiration, I read. 

Ideas don’t come as easily as I would like, but the fact that I have several projects at once means that it comes easily enough. 

28. How do you stay focused on your own work and how do you deal with comparison?

I have a hard time focusing period, so that’s a challenge. I have put effort into being less jealous because it’s ultimately a useless exercise. 

29. Is writing more of a hobby or do you write with the intention of getting published?

I want to be published like JK Rowling or Stephen King - one thing that gives my financial security, or with enough frequency to do the same. 

30. Do you like to read books similar to your project while you’re drafting or do you stick to non-fiction/un-similar works?

tbh, i read mostly fanfic these days. Most Genre fic makes me angry because there’s something missing from the text. it’s usually women/gay people.

I write long-handed when I’m having focus issues. It’s slow enough to make me focus.

I talk to myself. Out loud. Constantly.

When I read, I’m known to stop and think “that was a perfectly crafted sentence!” or “How did they do that?”

Okay, so I have a lot of questions. First, what are all the terms for asexuality? Cause I see a lot of different terms and I am not sure which ones apply. Second, the brother to my Inquisitor OC is asexual, but flirts a lot with people. Would that be an accurate or acceptable representation? Third, how would I write him explaining to people that he is asexual? Or would that depend on how he is as a character? I'm not trying to imply all asexuals are the same, I just want to get it right.

edit: I should specify that this can be experienced very differently from person to person, so if anyone else wants to comment or add their thoughts feel free!

So, asexual is sort of the blanket term for everyone who does not experience sexual attraction, no matter how often or in what way.Demisexual is a common ace term you’ve probably heard. It’s a type of asexuality where they only experience sexual attraction in specific situations. As an example, they might only experience sexual attraction after forming a close bond with them. There’s this misconception that this simply means they don’t want to have sex until that bond is formed which isn’t how it works. I’m only talking about attraction here. So, say you’re dating someone and several months go by and you start to develop sexual attraction. It’s kinda weird because you’re going about your day being ace then, suddenly, bam, there’s this one single person that you are attracted to in a way you haven’t experienced before and it can be a very confusing. Then there’s people who are flux who go through periods where they feel no sexual attraction, and periods where they do, so they fluctuate back and forth. That can be a confusing one to work out as well. I’m blanking on other terms, so if there are some I’m missing feel free to let me know and I’ll go into those as well! And if you’re curious about how this can combine with romantic attraction I’d be happy to go into that more too. Some people may only ID as ace whereas others may id as gay or bi etc as well.

So, you’ll notice all through this, it doesn’t really have anything to do with sex itself. I imagine this can be as diverse as it is for other orientations. There are sex positive aces, sex neutral, and sex repulsed. You can fall into any one of these categories and have/not have a libido/sex drive. Just out of aces I’ve met, I think I’ve come into contact with every combination possible lol. It’s kind of shitty, I feel like aces with a libido tend to get bashed the most because asexuals are usually thought of incorrectly as having no association with or desire for sex. I mean, just in the last few weeks I was told that asexual means not having a sexuality which– guys, it’s a sexuality by definition, come on. But anyway, the point is, aces can enjoy and desire sex, although not all of them do.

The reason I made my Adaar sex repulsed is because there is so little representation. Usually if you ever see something close to ace representation, there’s always something gross where the ace person learns to like sex or whatever because mainstream romance seems to require sex in order for relationships to be “real” but as long as you aren’t doing that, or having tones of an ace character trying to defend their orientation with “I can have sex just like you” or “sex is a requirement so I guess I’ll do it even though I don’t like it because I love you” or something like that, there isn’t anything wrong with having an ace character who has/enjoys sex.

A few example of how not to do it: Cole was written very aro/ace, saying he isn’t attracted to anyone and acting confused whenever anyone asked him about it. That is, until he ended up with the bard and now isn’t aro/ace anymore because he is “human after all,” implying that you have to feel romantic/sexual attraction in order to be human. Sorry I’m still bitter lol. There’s also Sebastian’s romance in DA2. He probably isn’t ace since there’s nothing that seems to imply it but he did want a chaste relationship and there are multiple comments about how it isn’t a real relationship because of that. Then there’s all the fanfics where seb is forced into sexual situation by an unsatisfied partner because they consider it a requirement in a relationship regardless of what Seb actually wants. Or as if they could just get Seb to have sex, they’ll both be happier and their relationship would be more fulfilling. If you have an exact situation you’re worried about, you can always ask and I’d be happy to give you my opinion or recommend things to avoid!

As for your character, having him be flirty is perfectly fine! I know lots of aces who make crude jokes all the time too. A common hole people can fall into is making an ace character naive or childlike, as if that’s a requirement for being ace. (It made sense for Cole since he isn’t human and doesn’t know much about it, although inhuman ace chars is also kind of a stereotype) Tbh, I find ace people are usually pretty open and unflustered when discussing sex. I don’t know if it’s a common experience, but I think some aces probably look up sex trying to figure out what the appeal is or what the heck sexual attraction actually is lol. So yeah, they are rarely naive and can probably talk about it very casually. (Although there are plenty of sex repulsed aces who don’t like to see or talk about it)

As for how he might explain it to someone, hmm, I’m not completely sure. It’s a bit harder to talk about in a time period when they wouldn’t have a word for it. I guess it probably depends on who he is, who he’s talking to, and how the discussion came up. In the ace inquisitor fic I posted last night, Adaar was specifically worried about entering into a relationship that might expect sex from him and, since he is sex repulsed, he wanted to be upfront and clear about that before they got anymore serious. If your character is sex positive, it can be a bit more difficult to explain his asexuality. Maybe have him express confusion when someone is admiring something they find sexually appealing? I mean, anyone can appreciate bodies, but the overly sexual way Bull discuss what he find attractive about women might be kind of confusing or weird to him. A lot of this could depend on his romantic attraction as well. My Adaar is gay as well as ace, but if your oc is aromantic, he could just talk about how he isn’t interested in anyone. Feel free to give me more information and i’d be happy to offer suggestions or tips! Also very sorry this was so long lol. Feel free to let me know if I missed something or explained it badly!!

1. Tell us about your WIP!I’m gonna take my favorite original WIP, because I can.One of the galaxies’ best assassins accepts a new job which proves to be way different than she had expected. Her partner moves between exasperated and amused. I imagine this story will be around 50 pages total, so it’s not a big thing. For now my goal is just to actually finish an original project pffft. (Lesbian main couple, pansexual man is second main chara)

2. Where is your favorite place to write?I have two favorite places. One is in my bedroom, where I can just do anything I please. The other is outside when it’s warm on some nice grassy spot, where I can just plug in my earphones in my ears and enjoy everything. I am so waiting for it to get warm enough for thaaaaaaaat!

3. What is your favorite/least favorite part about writing?Favorite: Coming up with ideas and characters and dialogue and sentences and everything. For this other unwritten fic I have a doc with each chapter fully detailed, just waiting to be written and filled out. For yet another fic I have basically done a mini fic with everything that happens, and it only has to be properly written. I always do the research whenever I get to it. Haven’t made a playlist for any fic or story so far, and have absolutely no interest in a pinterest board or anything like it.

15. How do you deal with self-doubt when writing?I become super clingy and have to be calmed down by friends. And this unfortunately happens a lot.... sorry ;A;

17. What things (scenes/topics/character types) are you most comfortable writing?I really really REALLY love writing emotions. Strong emotions of every kind, except maybe happiness. Happy/positive emotions aren’t as funny hehe~ And angst. Let me write all the angst, so I can bathe in all my readers’ tears.

18. Tell us about that one book you’ll never let anyone readUh a book I like that someone else has written? Idk dude, I don’t have one of those? A book/story that I have come up with? Godddddd, there are so many... and there is a reason that I will not tell anyone about them *definite stop*

20. Any advice for young writers/advice you wish someone would have given you early on?1. Using names are fine. More than fine, even. Use one or two epithets per person at absolute max. Names, just like ‘said’ are basically invisible for readers, even if you as a writer feel your eyes twitching over how often you use names. It’s just you, I promise. Use. Names. 2. Write as much as you can, even if what you write sucks. Know how to make sure your writing stops sucking? By writing more. The more you write, the better you get. Simple as that. If need be you can always rewrite those sucky stories later if the ideas are good *looks at several old-as-balls stories that seriously needs rewriting* 3. Sometimes it actually is okay to Tell instead of Showing. Mostly it’s better to Show instead of Tell, but sometimes the other way is perfectly good too or even better. Ignore those who say you must never ever use it.

21. What aspect of your writing are you most proud of?Emotions, again. I feel I am quite skilled at writing a character’s emotions and thoughts. My dialogue and humor has also approved in the last couple years, I feel.

23. Most anticipated upcoming books?Uh, don’t really know any?

25. What’s your worldbuilding process like?I like to start with the characters, and then I start building a world that fits them. I really like doing those world building worksheet thingies.

26. What’s the most research you’ve ever put into a book?Oh god... I think the longest I have spent on a story so far is like 12-14 hours combined. And I still haven’t actually written that story *headdesk*

27. Every writer's least favorite question - where does your inspiration come from? Do you do certain things to make yourself more inspired? Is it easy for you to come up with story ideas?For original stories I have always just had a desire for a specific scene, then I come up with the characters involved in that scene, then I come up with the stories those characters exist in. I love, love, love writing prompts, though. It’s pretty common for me to use a prompt in the first step aforementioned, then as I develop the characters and the world the inhabit I tend to sort of forget the original prompt. So it all works out well enough I think.

28. How do you stay focused on your own work and how do you deal with comparison?God, the only way for me to keep focused on one particular work is by having other people be interested in it. Otherwise I will completely lose my motivation to write it and start with other things instead. My mind never stops coming up with stories, after all.

30. Do you like to read books similar to your project while you’re drafting or do you stick to non-fiction/un-similar works? I strongly prefer staying away from anything that might influence my writing while I am writing it. This is the biggest reason why I only read friends’ fics nowadays.....

31. Top five favorite books in your genre?Those five favorite books from question 5 counts for this too, I guess.

32. On average how much do you write in a day? do you have trouble staying focused/getting the word count in?It varies so so so much. One time I wrote 6,000 words in a day. Another day I struggled writing 50. When I have prompts to write fics for I write around 1,000 words per day I guess?

33. What’s your revision/rewriting process like?Copy-pasting the text into a program with a proofreading software, then after reading it through I’ll poke a friend with better grasp of grammar to go through it, basically.

Before he had managed to get it into the air Thana turned sharp eyes on him; a moment later the gun fell to the ground, the man's hand falling with it. The man's shout made every person in the restaurant determinedly look away; they didn't know what was going on, but they were all sure it didn't have anything to do with them."If any of you makes a threatening move against me or my companion again I will not spare you," Thana said, slowly shifting her gaze to the now red-faced woman who was grinding her teeth.

37. Do you ever write long handed or do you prefer to type everything?My hand tends to hurt when I write, so I suuuuuuper prefer typing on something, whether computer or tablet or whatever.

38. How do you nail voice in your books?That’s something I wonder about too *cries*

39. Do you spend a lot of time analyzing and studying the work of authors you admire?Not really, no. I tend to get too sucked up into the stories. I am also not really that good at analyzing stories/characters... unless I try to write fanfiction with them, that is.

40. Do you look up to any of your writer buddies?Yes, I definitely do.

41. Are there any books you feel have shaped you as a writer?Again, the The Sandman comic series written by Neil Gaiman. They have had an incredible influence on me.

42. How many drafts do you usually write before you feel satisfied?I am never satisfied pffft

43. How do you deal with rejection?I kinda slink down deeper into my depression for a couple days and just watch shit or do other brainless things until I feel better.

44. Why (and when) did you decide to become a writer?This is differently worded question 24. So, copying that answer: I was the type of small child who was completely obsessed with stories, long before I could actually read. Then when I learned to read I, uh, advanced pretty quickly let’sputitlikethat apparently a 9-year old reading Very Mature books with graphic descriptions of killing and gory situations isn’t that appreciated by teachers. Especially not when this 9yo happily tells her friends all about these gory details at lunch….. oops? So uh idk. It’s always been a part of me? I’ve always been reading and coming up with stories, and then I started writing, and just. Idk dude. Forever, I guess.

45. First or third person?Third, although first can be pretty nice to write too.

46. Past or present tense?Slight preference for past tense, but just slight.

47. Single or dual/multi POV?Single. I am pretty sure I sometimes fail with it, however, ugh...

48. Do you prefer to write skimpy drafts and flesh them out later, or write too much and cut it back?Flesh out later, because it hurts to cut out parts of my story. It’s like cutting out parts of my own body, you knooooow

50. Do you share your rough drafts or do you wait until everything is all polished?I happily share everything. I need validation and encouragement to continue writing, after all.

51. Are you a secretive writer or do you talk with your friends about your books?I talk too much sometimes, I’m afraid pfffft. I want to share everything. Except in some cases where I like to have some things be spoilers, so I can better enjoy their reactions.

52. Who do you write for?I’d love to say ‘myself’ but it’s really for others who enjoy the same things as myself. If there wasn’t any others I’d just keep it all in my head, after all.

53. What is the first line of your WIP?The assassins story again: All around the planet huge sandstorms raged, but within the walls of New Vien the citizens went about their business without a worry of the outside world.

Favorite first line/opening you’ve written?After much indecisiveness we have:First line - from Heart Masochist: They were young once, all of them.And because I thought the question was about last lines too - from A Scratch: When their uncle's men finally found them Mercutio had stopped shaking, but Valentine couldn't stop crying.

one datemate did a really romantic thing for my birthday, took me to a surprise picnic, cooked my favorite food, and took me into the city. it was a really great day!
