Wrecker: No! That is the wire that will kill everyone. Try again.
You: Ok, connect the red one here?
Wrecker: Yes.
You: And put the blue in the yellow?
Wrecker: Yes, very good.
You: …And then cut the green one?
Wrecker: No!

Ego is such a classic manipulator. I noticed when he came to check on Peter, he says "I saw your girl stomp off a little earlier in quite a huff." instead of something probably more common(?) Like 'Did you and her have a fight?' etc. Like he's automatically focusing on Gamora's reaction, almost alluding to that it's all her fault. Despite seemingly not knowing what actually happened (I can't remember if he could already hear them fight since he's the literal planet or not) by already subtly placing the blame on Gamora, he further isolates Peter into thinking he can't trust her, or that she's a problem causer.

Recently rewatched GOTG Vol. 2 and took some notes
Rocket has no real reason for stealing the batteries other than he wanted to
Rocket can't read sarcasm unless it's explicitly shown to him. He also doesn't understand insults unless he knows what they mean. Autism coded...
Drax has to be more than strong, he's got to be superhuman at this point. He was flung around by the monster that would have killed a human instantly, survived the pressure changes of going through a jump point without exploding, and was hit around by trees like a pinball. Gamora and maybe Nebula are the only ones I can see surviving that. Speaking of which how does Quill survive being thrown around by the monster without breaking any bones?
When Gamora says "If you'd flown with what's in between your ears instead of what's in between your legs" she points to Rocket for the latter half of that statement implying he wasn't castrated by the High Evolutionary. 👀
It's implied Rocket doesn't completely understand depth and 3D space when saying Ego was a tiny man which makes sense for a raccoon but also not for the best pilot in the galaxy.
"You didn't know cuz you didn't wanna know cuz it made you rich." Is a hard ass line
I don't know much about Kurt Russell's history in acting but him as a villain is fantastic
Rocket grooms himself with his tongue!!! So kitty!!!!!!
The fact that Drax connects being an old woman to being wise means his not understanding metaphor isn't an inherent trait and it also means nobody before this point has been able to indirectly teach him what things mean.
Rocket's singing voice hunghhhh... He also runs quadrupedal by instinct
Despite having such tiny and probably fragile hands Rocket can still punch hard. The way he grabs things meant for normal hands with his little grippy paws is so adorable!!!
Drax wasn't lying when he said he was humble. Despite being a bit reckless he rarely brags about himself at all.
Even though family story time about impregnation probably is not a good idea Drax is probably the most sex positive member of the group.
Ego says he made pain receptors yet he doesn't react to anything as if it hurts at all.
Nebula never was a sadist. Thanos made her become violent because he hurt her every time she lost, so she got more and more angry. If she successfully enacted her plan of torturing Thanos I don't think she would have enjoyed it, she would be delivering a sense of justice in her eyes. She doesn't talk about that plan with fondness, she talks about it like it's a hard job that'll take a lot of willpower to complete. Who knows how many years of Thanos' abuse were quickly replaced by love and she barely resisted being healed.
When Peter successfully forms the celestial energy Ego doesn't look into his son's eyes with pride, he looks at the energy with greed. Great subtle acting.
I don't think Drax meant to insult Mantis by calling her ugly, that was just an unfortunate moment of unfiltered honesty. The fact that he quickly changes the meaning so it's some kind of compliment is impressive and adorable.
When Peter says he sees Eternity I think he sees the thing from Thor 4. Ego's plan is to reach Eternity and wish for the universe to be completely and totally his.
The contrast of the majesty Ego supposedly shows Peter and the horror of Ego's genocidal design found by Gamora and Nebula with music is perfect
The crabby puppy so cute he makes me wanna die 😍
Kraglin is so cute he's had such a hard life he just needs a warm shower and a talking Russian dog for a best friend.
The reason Mantis could put Ego to sleep when he didn't want to isn't because she's super powerful (even though she is) it's because she's part celestial and maybe Ego happened to miss a little bit of the connection to the light she has.
Life isn't about trying to make everything perfect or exactly the way you want it to, it's about diversity. That's what Ego doesn't understand.
My headcanon is that Yondu is the only one of his crew that actually cared about hygiene. He looks relatively clean compared to everybody else.
The last real goodbye Gamora and Nebula had was in Vol. 2
Baby Groot finally being nice to Drax is cute.

just rewatched gotg vol.2 and for some reason i've never realized how much i needed some kind of spin-off about peter's, yondu's, kraglin's, and rocket's misadventures. all of them in one project. that would've been such a badass thing omg

Lessons in Sincerity: Why the Guardians of the Galaxy movies kinda slap
Tumblr media
You know what? I am gonna blog a bit about storytelling right now, because I was actually kinda inspired by Aranock's video about Renfaire Cheese. For those, who have not seen the video... Well, first: you should watch it. But also, it talks centrally about sincerity as a storytelling device. And partly, too, about why exactly the Marvel movies fail on that front.
See, it is kinda weird how since the beginning of the pandemic we had this little reckoning with the MCU. How we went from: "Wow, those movies are actually pretty good", to: "Are they though?" to "Yeah, no, actually they are" to "Okay, maybe they are not, though."
And while those right wing nuts, who cry their eyes out over having to endure a movie that does not centrally feature a white dude, are not right about the MCU humor thing... They are also not entirely wrong about it.
Because the humor is a problem, and in the video Aranock points out the issue with the humor is the lack of sincerity. Or to put it differently: Whenever the MCU movies get too raw in their emotions, they quickly throw in humor, so that the audience does not need to feel any actual feelings. With two exceptions that Aranock also points out: The Black Panther movies and Guardians of the Galaxy.
While I am lying in hospital here, I actually rewatched the Guardians movies once again. And yes, I will not only argue that they are basically the best movies in the MCU, but that they do kinda play in a completely different league.
Like a lot of folks who suffered parental abuse there is barely any movie who touches me as deeply as GotG Vol. 2 does. I mean, really. That movie is such an emotional roller coaster for me. When I first watched it in the theatre, I laughed so hard I had an asthma attack. And then, when I first watched it home alone I bawled my eyes out, leaving me in a state of utter confusion at first.
But that is just the thing: Those movies are funny, yes. But they are also sincere. They allow you and trust you to actually feel feelings while watching the movies, in a way that most of the other Marvel movies do not.
And, I mean... When it comes to that last movie, there is so much I could say about that, too. The movie is the reason I am now unable to listen to "The Dog Days Are Over" without starting to cry. lol Though funnily enough the final scene of the movie showed me something else, too. And that is simply the fact that as tropey as the final dance party is... There can be a lot of sincerity in it.
Because dancing is something that can be so sincere in itself. Which ironically is also one of the main reasons that Dog Days scene in GotG3 gets me. I am fine... until Drax starts dancing. Then it is over and I will cry like a little baby.
And it is... interesting, really. How the simple fact that the characters are allowed to have genuine feelings... makes such a big fucking difference in the storytelling.
Also, speaking of dance parties... I am gonna talk about Dreamworks tomorrow.

I decided to rewatch GotG 1 after seeing GotG3 last weekend.
Again, I wish we got to see more of Rocket than just the backstory in that film. I fell like his real arc is in Vol 2. But the backstory is very moving. It seems like Groot is his only friend in GotG1, but he thinks Groot is dumb. That's not to say they don't care about each other. Maybe he thinks of Groot like Floor, but not like Lylla.
And when Rocket turns off the artificial gravity in the Kiln, Gamora has awe in her voice when she speaks to Rocket. And then it (interestingly, in my opinion) cuts to Groot who is so happy. Before that they were calling rocket "rodent" (and "raccoon") and Drax was talking about eating him.
I love Groot1. He doesn't understand social stuff as much as Groot2 does. (Like he knows what water is, but the nuance of what a fountain is eludes him.) So I read it as him being very happy and proud for Rocket, that other people are acknowledging how smart he is. Because he knows Rocket is smart; that is why he sticks around. They are a good bounty-hunting duo.
And now I'm getting kind of teary thinking that, "Oh wait, Groot must have known his species reproduces asexually that way. He probably left his offspring with Rocket on purpose."

i'm answering all 30 fic writer asks as seen on kelly@fohatic's blog 😽 HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
1. What’s something new that you tried in a fic this year? How did it turn out and would you do it again? fool's gold was a 1872 fic and it was one-sided dialogue but with no quotation marks, so it was supposed to read like somebody from timely was telling you about what happened! i liked it but i don't know if i would do it again because it's just stylistic, i think it worked for 1872 because it suited the small town setting
2. How many fics did you work on this year? (They don’t have to be finished or published!) i have too many wips but i posted 56 fics on ao3 this year!
3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer? that i dilly dally a lot to avoid writing smut scenes and that the discord sprinting bot is my best friend
4. What piece of media inspired you the most? probably endgame because we had the @stevetonyisendgame exchange and prompt fest this year, so i rewatched it a lot and ended up writing lots of endgame-adjacent/post-endgame!! they're so soft in that movie i can't help myself
5. What fandom(s) did you write for this year? all marvel except for one fic for game changers! i foresee house md fic in 2024
6. What ship(s) captured your heart? stevetony has always had my heart does that count
7. What character(s) captured your heart? i love steve rogers even more than i did last year
8. Did you write for a new fandom or ship this year? new ships!! i wrote steve/thor and steve/natasha for the first time for captain bottom bingo and steve/peggy for the first time for steggy secret santa
9. What fic meant the most to you to write? nobody saves me, baby (the way you do) because kristina@samcky had an unposted draft of it that she let me rewrite 🥺 so it meant a lot to me because she's all over that fic and i just love her with all my heart
10. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on? i think it's a tie between winged and how porcupines kiss because they're so fluffy! although this might a little biased because @capnstars drew the cutest winghead!steve art you've ever seen in your entire life for winged and @itsmaybitheway drew THIS PRECIOUS PORCUPINE!STEVE AND ARMADILLO!TONY for how porcupines kiss 🥺
11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing? probably hell and high water because i worked on it slowly for months which usually doesn't happen, and it might even be one of my favourite fics that i've ever written so i was really proud
12. What fic was the most difficult to write? Did you finish it? i don't think anything was difficult to write but new york is a hell of a town (and i'm brooklyn down) was so silly of me because it's set in august, but i wrote the first part in april and the second part in october and didn't really work on it during the actual summer 😶 like what was that?? why did i do that?? i'm so sorry
13. What fic was the easiest to write? into the forever and beautiful sky! it's a rocket-centric fic with rocket & steve friendship, i wrote it right after watching gotg vol 3 and it's just feelings vomit ahahah
14. What were your shortest and longest fics this year? my shortest fic was fool's gold which was 546 words and the longest fic that i wrote by myself (not just this year but also ever in all my life) was a rose by any other name which was 11.6k words! without caveats the longest fic is heartbreak prince, which i wrote with @areiton and it was 12k words!!
15. Rec a fic you wrote or posted in 2023 a beast of a burden is really special to me so i want to rec that one! because i wrote it for the endgame exchange that i loved so much and it was for mrsgingles, who is my favourite stevetony artist, and it reminds me of this summer, and it also feels like the truest love letter to endgame that i've ever written
16. What were you go-to writing songs? i don't have any! usually it's whatever i'm already listening to or a movie or show that i'm watching, but i listened to exo's lotto on repeat when i wrote hit the lotto because that's what the fic sounds like in my head and taylor swift's timeless when i wrote once in a lifetime because it was based on that song
17. What were your go-to writing snacks? NO TIME FOR SNACKS WHEN THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO NEED TO KISS
18. What was the hardest fic to title? maybe lovelorn and nobody knows? i started working on it before 1989 tv came out and it didn't have a title for way too long, the google doc was literally just called "there are still beautiful things steve pov" and then it took me like 20 minutes of comparing 1989 vault lyrics to pick one 😭
19. Share your favourite opening line from the ice is getting thinner under me and you (a hockey au)
Steve is supposed to be at a bar downtown with the rest of his team. Steve is not supposed to be back in the emptied out stadium, his back slammed against the lockers with Tony's tongue in his mouth.
20. Share your favourite ending line i added the second last line for context but this ending line is my favourite because time has always been against steve and peggy, so i feel like the best show of how happy and safe they feel together is that they finally don't have to watch the clock or worry about time slipping through their fingers anymore 🥺 this is from from we were born to be national treasures
When she laughs, eyes glittering, he has the most peculiar feeling that he was always meant to end up right here, kissing the maroon lipstick off Peggy’s mouth, swaying under the sprig of mistletoe they never took down from Christmas as someone starts to shout a countdown to New Year’s. She cups his face and he smiles into the kiss, and neither of them bother watching the clock.
21. Share your favorite piece of dialogue from if my wishes came true (buckynat)
“You got that written down in your notebook?” “I don’t need to write you down to remember you, Natasha Romanoff.”
22. Share an excerpt from your favorite scene there were so many close contenders aahh but my favourite scene has to be the one from catastrophic blues when tony finally catches steve!!
“Then don’t make me hurt you,” Tony says, raising his palm and lighting up his repulsor. “I know you know what this does. You’re unarmed and backed into a dead-end alley. You’re not winning this one, kid, I can tell you that for free. Take off your mask.” The Vigilante glowers and stands his ground. “My whole life is dead-end alleys. I’m not taking off my mask.”
23. Share the final version of a sentence or paragraph you struggled with. What about it was challenging? Are you happy with how it turned out? the whole end part of near-death cliché took some wrangling just because i was trying to make it sound like something kang the conqueror would say haha
“I’ve killed a lot of Avengers and it all starts to blend together,” Kang says, “but I remember you because you always end up fighting for him. I admire the consistency. It’s rare.” “Him?” “You could be with Steve Rogers,” Kang says almost empathetically, and it’s like he has gently wrenched Tony’s heart out of his chest. When the repulsors on his palms falter, Kang continues in the same disarming tone. “I could send you back to the battlefield. You’d open your eyes and he'd be there.”
24. What's something that surprised you while you were working on a fic? Did it change the story? this is hilarious to me because the recurring motif in but saving what we love was supposed to be steve and tony calling each other's bullshit over the years but it ended up being overshadowed by star wars. so much star wars, in fact, that it warranted a "star wars references" tag
25. What did you use to write? (e.g. writing programs, paper & pen, etc.) google docs
26. If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year? all of i thought the plane was going down (how'd you turn it right around) for two reasons! one is that i feel like maleness informs a lot of their lives and experiences and for a while i didn't really get the appeal of genderbending them, but then i read all of isozyme's lesbian stevetony fics and i had an epiphany about genderbending being an opportunity for character and relationship study, and two is that once i had said epiphany i realised i actually had a lot to say so i wrote captain eve rogers in one go and now i love her so much
27. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing a fic? hmm i don't think so!
28. How did you recharge between fics? i don't think i really do that either
29. If this were an awards show, who would you thank? oh my gosh. with all the sincerity in my heart, every person who gave me a kudo or a comment or is subscribed to my ao3, recommended my fics or my blog, said in a reblog/tweet/discord message/dm that they liked one of my fics or it made them happy or they were excited about reading one, follows me on tumblr or looks at my gifs or likes/reblogs my posts, runs fandom events, shares their beautiful fics or art or edits with us, all the members of the steve rogers defense squad, truly everyone who i've had an interaction with (except the steve antis and bots in my block list 😠) because i'm so grateful to have this community and that we met because we love the same thing and we can make each other's days better. deactivating for 10 months was the right thing to do but i'm so happy to be back this time because of you
30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024? some of these have been cooking in my head for so long that they have TITLES
that famous happy ending (enchanted au)
play house (wandavision au)
plausible deniability (rival lawyers au)
wild and beautiful (feral/tarzan steve au)
yoga instructor steve and discharged air force pilot tony
prequel to kristina's beautiful ocean's 11 au, Give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye

I'm co-signing all of the vol 3 mixed emotions. It's such a good movie. But the Gamora stuff sticks out like a sore Thumb. I think they could have acknowledged Gamora has her own new experiences since coming to the future while having her become close with the team. It's like baby groot. He wasn't even remotely the same person as big groot and he got to be part of the family and grow and have different experiences.
It's harder for me to believe that Gamora was just always meant to not be family when A ) that's not what was created over the past gotg movies and B ) everything about gotg has been focused on how important the characters being family is. Even Yondu got to be part of the guardians family before his death and they had everyone help Peter throw him a funeral before the ravagers showed up to honor him. Honestly having Gamora become part of the family and say she will be in touch or visit even if she went with the ravagers would have felt more connected to what gotg has done. Nebula's her sister. That alone would make this possible.
Also I think I get more upset because none of this was forced on Gunn where suddenly he had to figure out what to do last minute. He's said he signed off on IW and EG and could have changed things if he wanted. I believe details about Gamora could have been added while writing the script and it wouldn't have taken away prominence from Rocket.
SPOILERS
I thought the same thing with baby Groot when watching the marathon! Like wow so we just missed a huge opportunity to draw major comparisons between her and Rocket AND her and Groot, okay then.
But honestly I think I’m okay with her being a ravager, and that was also something that was made clear to me when rewatching all of the movies. Even from the very beginning, the guardians and the ravagers have been intrinsically linked in a very substantial way, with it being the start of Peter’s space life and their major roles in both vol 1 and vol 2. Not to mention Yondu and Rocket’s linked story in Vol 2, and the reveal that Yondu even had a group of ravager friends like the guardians (“Stakar and the other captains, we weren’t so different from you and your friends.”) and then to have that same group be the group that Gamora ultimately finds a family in as well? It feels like we’ve come full circle in a way, even if in a perfect world I would have loved to see her with the guardians. It still gives me a little bit of hope that she could find her way back to them in her own time, since they will always be connected in more ways than one.

2, 3, 8, 12, 13, 14 for Rocket!
2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like)
Annihilation: Conquest. I think Rocket's character that's very easy to like from the start.
3. A song that reminds me of them
I literally rewatched Vol 3 today so unfortunately Creep by Radiohead
8. Your favorite outfit of them
Tumblr media
i don't even need to elaborate.
12. Sexuality hc!
I honestly don't have any real sexuality headcanons for the GOTG specifically because I think they're all very fluid about it (& about gender) like they're in space. his love interests include lyla & (TO ME) blackjack.
13. Your favorite friendship they have
Him & Pete, for sure. I am incredibly biased to them 'cause of Annihilation: Conquest and I admittedly. hate. most of their writing from 2013-2020 BUT them in the 2020&2008 runs.... absolute perfection it kinda makes me cry
14. Best storyline they had
I'm an Al Ewing girlie to my core so. His Rocket series <3

Gamora and Peter - piecing together the finish
Gotg3 spoilers below
Unlike Vol 1 and Vol 2, GOTG vol 3 is too sad/dark to rewatch. Vol 2 is my favorite, especially the scene where Peter and Gamora are dancing in a place looking like Heaven. I always imagined that Gamora and Peter would do the final dance scene to end the Trilogy.
In vol 3, it was very sad to see Peter in such distress over the loss of the original Gamora; and the realization that Young Gamora is this mean -Thanos influenced -being. The important thing is Peter's love for Gamora is still grounded and despiete his love for her, he faced the truth about this Younger Gamora. In fact, when Young Gamora grabbed his arm to get his attention and told him to abandon Rocket. What did Peter do – He removed her hand from his arm and walked away from her! Let's not forget, in order to save the universe, Peter did pull that trigger to kill the love of his life – Gamora. (The real question is why did Gamora need Peter to do it? She could have killed herself? I suspect she knew she was pregnant with Peter’s child and did not have the heart to do it.)
I do believe that Gamora and Peter will get a second chance at a happily ever after ending – their love for each other will endure. However, they have a few more obstacles to get over.
I believe Peter will be reunited with the Original Gamora on earth. She is there waiting for him before dying; but will not look the same.
I read another post that said Gamora similar to Peter, may also be half human. The color of her skin changed in Infinity War and a little in Vol 2 to be more human (How cool would it have been for Zoe to actually look like Zoe in the final love scene with Peter). It makes sense that Gamora and Peter are half human and eventually end up back on earth together.
Young Gamora will eventually remember her love for Peter and go to earth to be with Peter.
James Gunn made it a point to reveal Peter’s age at the end of GOTG vol 3 for a reason. There is approx. a 25 year gap between Young Gamora and Peter. Indicating Peter will be old first and that Gamora will eventually become Peter’s caretaker. Ironically, Peter will probably die in Gamora’s arms.
If you go by just face value, GOTG vol 3 is saying that Gamora and Peter only fell in love because Gamora joined the GOTG first and fell in love by chance. Not true. Gamora and Peter’s love was destiny.

So just saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (no spoilers but if you do go see it, bring tissues!) And I think I can now add all three GotG films to my list of great movie trilogies. My list (in no particular order) which includes movie trilogies where all three are gems that I would watch without hesitation are as follows:
1. Original Star Wars Trilogy (Eps. IV, V, and VI)
2. How to Train Your Dragon Trilogy
3. Lord of the Rings Trilogy
4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, 2, and 3
I think that’s it for me. Respond below if you think otherwise but I really think that is the definitive list. There are many other trilogies (and larger series) out there with good movies but there is usually at least one that I skip or don’t like to watch if I can avoid it, but these four trilogies I can watch all three without pause or interruption and enjoy every minute of it. Are all movies in the trilogies listed above equal? Are they the best movies ever made? Not necessarily but all are wonderfully and all around entertaining and can totally stand up to multiple rewatches in my opinion. Guardians Vol. 3 was a pleasure to watch.

Just started a rewatch of TBB with my fiancé (he likes it very much, too and we have new plans as cosplayers dfghj) and now I'm on a journey through my mega editor. more than 11 years ago my activity started with this acc, it wasn't my first one, I deleted my very first blog (forget the reasons) and now I'm between laughing and crying about my old fandoms and taste of blogs/posts. Some fandoms are dead for me, some live again. I don't blog about Star Trek, Doctor Who or Marvel anymore. Trek annoys me atm; I lost my interest in DW and Marvel since some years (only GotG Vol. 3 is currently on my radar) and some fandoms like Pacific Rim or Kingsman are as good as inactive. But I still love Transformers, Brave Police J-Decker &Mad Max (even both fandoms are nearly dead, too), Futurama and my two main fandoms Team Fortress 2 and my oldest hype, Star Wars ofc (again, thank you CF 99 QQ). This blog will contains a lot of SW TBB the next times. It's more than obvious, I know. And I think it will last a long time, despite of the heartbreaking season 2 finale. Hope I'll find some new fellows and people in here for fanboying about our Bad Batch, Din & Grogu and some more. ;)

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 (2023)

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 (2023)
GotG3
You'll laugh, you'll cry. Satisfyingly written conclusions to all the major character arcs, it's a satisfying finale to easily the best trilogy within the MCU. There's no *real* YMMV; the 1st GotG is one or my favourite films, and the 2nd and 3rd, while not quite on the same level as the first film, are close.
It turns out Pratt can act. Will Poulter's Adam Warlock in particular is hilarious, but everyone was funny.
James Gunn does not miss. Except maybe Scooby-Doo 2.
The 3D was good, but oddly not quite as spectacular as the first 2 films (which both had fantastic 3D). 8.5/10 for the 3D.
it's also kind of crazy that this had the exact same budget as Ant Man 3 (AM&TWQ) but looks miles more professional (recently rewatched AM&TWQ on Disney+, wow some of the green screen / The Volume usage was really poorly done and lighting mismatched there) but every frame of every GotG looks professional.
Tumblr media
Going to miss Gunn's touch in the MCU, but looking forward to see if he can revitalize the DCU.
A/A- can't figure out how rewatchable it is, I need to see it again, but around 9/10
YMMV: if you go expecting a fun lighthearted film like the first 2, you'll be disappointed. Also, Multiverse of Madness was the closest the MCU came to gore. Well, GotG3 almost gets to an R rating. Not as gory as "The Boys" but gorier than Deadpool.

"Nat and Gamora just needed to not be fridged" truer words have never been spoken. In full agreement
I'm not someone who reads comics so it's just now dawning on me that Gamora being a guardian is a key part of her story not just made up for the mcu. Doesn't that make vol 3 having her go in a different direction like a punishment. I understand giving her some different experiences but not in a way that removes her from that part of her history/story. It's not her fault what happened in IW/EG.
Also I had not seen the gotg holiday special and thought people were exaggerating whenever I saw comments about Gamora not being talked about in it. Watched it last night and is James Gunn kidding me?! There's literally only one comment about her and it's Mantis saying Peter is sad. One comment. How. Why. What. There is a flashback to Christmas with Yondu but not even one family conversation where they say they miss Gamora or wish she was with them still. I never want to jump to conclusions but does Gunn hate her character now for some reason? Is he mad at her for dying. Because I don't get this level of neglect at all. She was treated really decent in vol 1&2. Hell IW was doing good until she died. It would take no time at all to do better than this. So much so that this has to be intentional right? I need to think about this more but this feels really mean spirited.
i'm not a comics person either so i'm not familiar with the full history of gamora being a guardian (or if she had periods of not being one, etc.), aside from the fact that that's what her character's known for!
i haven't rewatched the holiday special since my first watch last november so the details are pretty fuzzy to me, but yeah i vaguely remember being left wanting more re: the gamora situation. this franchise has a fixation on the spirit of yondu that doesn't make a lick of sense to me as long as the more prominent, widely beloved character by the cast of characters hardly gets mentioned/acknowledged, let alone have flashbacks/ghost appearances/etc., after her death compared to yondu. like what are we doing here. genuinely. lol
