out of curiosity, can i ask what your beef is with the power of two? my only experience with it is back when i played the demo for it years ago + watched all the cutscenes,, so i have. pretty much no context,, dkdnkdnd

Epic Mickey 1 was produced by a very small team on a super tight budget. Despite the development process being heavily curated by Disney, Epic Mickey was the closest thing to an indie title video game that the company ever put out. It was a game that was simply made for the love of the craft.

Epic Mickey 2 was developed by a much, much larger team, having a bunch of new writers (when previously Warren Spector was the only writer!) and as a result of that, it went through a crazy and unstable development process. Everyone was pulling and pushing the game in different directions-- new characters, new game mechanics, cutscenes, musical numbers?? The tone of the game was completely overhauled, which wouldn't be a bad thing in theory if it wasn't so drastically different from what Warren Spector wanted out of EM2...

Apparently, all of these changes were made to make the game more marketable... easier to digest, easier to sell to younger audiences, easier to expand upon and make spinoffs and DLCs and whatnot. The marketing for EM2 was CRAZY. They were selling the game as the next Super Mario Bros or Sonic the Hedgehog, really honing in on the idea of making Epic Mickey this huge kickass series. Mickey and Oswald were gonna be the next Mario and Luigi, kicking ass and saving the world on a regular basis.

Which is, obviously, very detatched from what Epic Mickey was about. The first game was a poignant narrative about consumerism, told through the lenses of cartoon characters that were left behind by the boom of media capitalism. On a meta level, it was about reboot culture. It was a critique of the Disney media landscape.

The second game is about...

...The second game is about nothing at all, really. A sequel for the sake of making a sequel. Plot points from the first game were either retconned, misinterpreted, or completely forgotten about. Out of the alleged 700 people that worked on EM2, I don't think any of them played all the way through the first game.

The first game's villain-- The Blot-- was alluded to in the final cutscene of Epic Mickey, and was mentioned maybe a single time in the second one. It seems like Mickey and Oswald's dynamic was completely forgotten, and all of their snarky chemistry was sort of erased. Gremlin Prescott was turned into one of the main villains?? Gremlin Prescott... like, the guy from Ostown that you can convince to destroy your phone and has no other significance to the plot of the first game. Ortensia was rewritten from arguably the Most Significant character to the lore of the first game-- the catalyst for everything that happened, the former queen of the Wasteland that haunts and shapes the narrative... to... uh, Oswald's Wife. She has no other character traits.

Nobody in this game has any real personality or character. All of the nuance of the first game was sanded down to make a more digestible story. The dark, gritty atmosphere was brightened, the areas were made cuter and more colorful, the gross Boschian enemies were made into cutesy bug eyed little things... all with the intention of making a more marketable game.

Which wouldn't be as infuriating if this wasn't a sequel of literally any other game. EM2 is an alright game on its own, but its a really disrespectful second installment of the game that was written with the main intention of criticizing the Disney media landscape.

I know your search for lilies in FA only resulted in that butterfly, but perhaps he learned the strange properties of time there from someone, whether from that noble going back and forth in missions (Miquella not being able to go directly for some reason) or from a dragon; perhaps Noble or Fortissax took pieces of Death Root to see if the strange time properties there can stop or reverse the process, at the same time there were studies about the anomaly for the needle they also tested for the ritual that could resurrect or kill Godwyn for real

It could be combined with the headcanon of the deep sleep that Miquella gave to Godwyn, his body still dreaming and Miq make a way for Fortissax to get in there, maybe one last way to try to save/kill him

But in regards to Farum Azula and the properties of time, I watched a theory video from VaatiVidya a long time, and to summarize what he said it seems that one of the very few things that can actually kill a God is time.

He went on to say that the Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones that we use to max out our weapons have the properties to twist time, which is what allows us to craft a weapon that can kill a god.

It would not surprise me in the slightest bit if Miquella was researching ways to utilize time to either halt the influence of an Outer God, which, while not stated directly in regards to the time aspect, is what Unalloyed Gold does, or for a way to kill a God.

Miquella is both resourceful and terrifyingly smart but even then, he still hit a snag in his research because Unalloyed Gold is imperfect, and even the Miquellas Needle that we recieve is still incomplete and requires being within a literal void in time-space for it to work and purge the influence of the Frenzied Flame.

So time is whats needed in order to slay a God and Unalloyed Gold.... How do I describe this? It seems to me that Unnalloyed Gold can seemingly halt time? At least within those who are victim to Scarlet Rot.

But as for how this applies to Godwyn I honestly can't say lol There's so little information to work with in regards to what Miquella is planning on how to save Godwyn, aside from the Eclipse, but even then we don't have any idea what the Eclipse is even supposed to do lol

So for now we have to wait for the DLC 😭

Marika and Radagon inmediately sensing Reader's presence once they return to the world is so ominous in a way. They know you're back but I wonder if they know where exactly. I have always found Ranni to be such an interesting character too, the way she desperately doesn't want to become a puppet of the Greater Will and goes to a such long extent to break free from it and start her Age of Stars. That part of Malenia saying Miquella will be back soon and that he must be very happy that Reader has returned has a little kick to it 😭 I wonder if Malenia says this just to reassure Reader, while at the same time feeling guilty that she wasn't there to protect Miquella when he was taken away (and it just makes her even more overbearing, because she doesn't know where Miquella is and you're one of the few people she has left and doesn't want to repeat the same thing again - this might be wrong during the first part though, I've read that maybe it isn't that Malenia didn't know where Miquella was, but rather the fact she's been comatose after her fight agaisnt Radahn and woke up only when the player encounters her, so since she was slumbering there wasn't anything she could've done. It's just super unclear). Miquella within the coocoon is currently unconscious and unresponsive - but imagine that for a second, he's able to tell that Reader has returned too. You described Miquella as the most terrifying yandere in Elden Ring not because of greed or possession, but because of his unbridled love and that stuck to me.

I love Elden Ring so much :( Can't wait to see what the DLC brings us. THIS IS SO LONG TOO. I'M SORRY. I went a little crazy there!

Marika/Radagon don't know exactly where you are, but they know that you're In the lands between. I feel as though this has to do with the Erd Tree and how it spreads over all of the lands. And since they're connect to it, they can feel when something changes or shifts, at leasts that's how I interpret it.

My interpretation of Malenia is that she isn't aware that he brother is missing, which I feel makes her story a lot more tragic, however I get what you're saying, there are a lot of theories about Malenia and the whole game in general that make a lot of things super confusing. But either way, Malenia finally having something that makes her feel normal is so tragic, especially if you take into account how she really just wants her family back together. Imagine explaining to her that Miquella is gone and watching as she's incapable of crying because of the rot covering her eyes.

I also love your suggestion of Miquella also being able to tell that reader is back within the Lands Between even while in his cocoon. Like imagine Mogh finally thinking Miquella responded to him only for Miquella to call out for reader. I do think Miquella is one of the most terrifying yanderes because of how much he loves reader, even while comatose and trapped within Moghwyn Palace, he still longs for them.

shadow the hedgehog is the very first shit stain on the sonic franchise. he represents the first time sonic went from being a simple game series that could be enjoyed by everyone to something a little bit weird. people might say that sa2 is the best and most iconic sonic game and that might be true afaik but this matters very little to me because i can't play it or even watch gameplays because shadow is there the whole time. he is a loser and a whiner and he has a stupid cringe character design that makes me almost as mad as rouge's character design because it's so stupid. people are also very horny for him and this pisses me off very badly, not only because i'm sick and tired of the tasteless yaoi that started plaguing the franchise the second he stepped in but also because he is just not hot. i don't understand what the deal is and i get angry at what i can't comprehend. his fans, of which there are many, explode with joy whenever he shows up in a game. chances are if you put that thing in a game or add a mod related to him or make a dlc about him, the fans will go crazy. i do not know why. he doesn't add anything good. he took over knuckles' role, he just keeps getting more and more annoying, he loses all the goddamn time, he is short, he looks like he was designed by a 12yr old, his backstory is dumb and the way it was handled was so ridiculously out of place for the tone of the franchise, and it brought in a bunch of naruto fans, ruining the fandom ecosystem so thoroughly that to this day we haven't recovered and we will not recover. he should've just stayed dead. if he had stayed dead and was never brought up again, maybe i would forgive him, but alas. he's still here and he makes waves whenever he shows up, when he is just an ugly loser. it's all very absurd. i hate him so bad. if he existed i would get a car just to run him over

I just finished playing bugsnax in like 3 days (didn't unlock everything tho) and literally every couple has potential to have MC as their 3rd. Filbo has the most potential bc of how much he obsessed over Liz 1st and now he's ur roommate! And he knows ur not crazy! Floofty would probably come off the most... Strange. You could feel their gaze on you throughout the entirety of your stay on Snaktooth. You were sure they hated you. They'd purposefully bump into you, insult and talk down to you, force you to gather supplies for experiments with no thanks in return. And when they weren't acting like a menace toward you, they'd hole themselves up in their hut or in the wrecked ship outside of town to do goodness knows what.

And when you had finally managed to convince Floofty to come back to town, you went back to Boiling Bay to collect some bugsnax a resident was looking for, and decided to take one last peak into Floofty's makeshift hut... And you felt yoyrbresth escape your lungs. In the light of day, you could clearly see your name written and scratched into the wood over and over and over again. If you weren't able to calm yourself down, you might've thought everyone was right about Floofty - that they really were a murderer and their next target was you. But, for the life of you, you didn't know what you had done to make them so angry with you...

It's only when you leave the island and Floofty gets a better handle on dealing with their emotions and other grumpuses that Floofty gets you all alone... And confesses. You... You were all they could think about. You took up almost every thought. It terrified them. They were awful, and yet you treated them with kindness and... And it was the most frightening thing they'd ever experienced. They were so, so worried. Their work in snaxburg was all for naught. And now... Now, they couldn't protect you. If something happened... They wouldn't be able to put you back together. And it was horrifying. It was horrifying to care so much. To love you so deeply and wholly and completely, to love you so much it ached.

ok i was bored so heres my slugcat tierlist judged entirely by gameplay/the campaign. not many people are prolly gonna read any of this but i love rambling anyways💥💥full downpour spoilers ahead!

RAHHHH I LOVE RIV AND SAINT THE MOVEMENT IS ONE OF MY FAV THINGS ABT THE GAMEPLAY RIGHT NEXT TO KILLING EVERYTHING THAT CROSSES MY PATH (except scavs but i will get to that later) riv is the first dp slug i played on the day the dlc came out and i finished it the same day and bro my expectations were blown out of the water holy FUCK. i wanted to explore rotting pebbles soooo bad and i actually got to do that!!! it was hard of course but i had fun!!!! i liked having to look at rooms and having to carefully calculate how i would get through them. it made pebbles funner to explore bc i wasnt stuck in 0g baby jail all the time. submerged superstructure was cool as hell too but i kept getting super lost in it while trying to find rhe right way to go… exploring after the campaign though was rlly fun!

basically riv is the most slug ever but oh man. does saint come close. it was BRUTAL getting out of sky islands and farm arrays (i didnt have a lantern, i didnt know it would warm u up) but once i did and i acquired a lantern it was fun! finessing predators with your epic tongue swinging skills. but at the same time man i have NEVER gotten a more overwhelming sense of dread from playing a video game before. especially at the part where i went to go to the wall and it just. wasnt there. i had to just pause and stare at the screen because What. and then when i went to shaded citadel, only to realize it wasnt. uh. shaded anymore. and connecting the lore dots in my head right before getting to the husk. gahdam. finding pebbles made me want to cry and throw up so hard (but i didnt. yet) and yeah. that ending. ehat the fukc. shit went crazy. didnt cry tho until i was watching a saint playthrough on youtube and like. bro wasnt even at the end of the game or doing anything in particular but MAN i just started sobbing for like an hour when i thought abt the ending again. i dont rlly even know why in particular the saint ending just Does that to a mf i guess. also shoutout to that one echo that says “I put my faith into the hands of random gods. Now I must endure it to the end” rawest line ever. goes so hard

SPEARMASTER WAS REALLY AWESOME TOO i lovvedddd being the predator and kill die kill kill slurp up everything i see with straw spear. i love how each of the slugcats makes u think like the slug ur playing, and spearmaster does that so well. i love that it makes u think like a ruthless predator, and i love playin on my save file every now and then to see how many kills i can get in a cycle. also exploring moon before she collapses was just as incredible as discovering five pebbles for the first time AIAGSJSGSJ i love her version of random gods so much it goes so crazy. also the bisexual lighting is cool. i hope the miros birds in her underhang explode tho i love being one shot before i can react at all

hunter. i love and hate the cycle limit. on one hand its super unique and changes up how u play the game alot. u gotta plan for stuff and be able to improvise sometimes. but also its really stressful LMAO. right before dp came out i did a hunter run so that i could unlock riv as soon as possible. and like bro wtf shit gave me heart palpitations. i wasnt even close to failing either i deadass ascended with like 9 cycles left idfk why i was shittif myself so hard at certain points. also why can slugpups spawn in their campaign bro thats mean.

GOURMAND. oh gourmand. this is the one i thought i was gonna hate but ended up really enjoying. the tuckered out mechanic isnt usually that big a deal. also bro is a straight up killing machine wtf 3 spear damage????? i didnt use the crafting mechanic much but it was pretty cool when i remembered it existed in a sticky situation and it saved me. also their endgame region….. oh my god that shit is BEAUTIFUL. i could just stare at some of the rooms for hours. and that big tree with a view of pebbles and the communications array? gorgeous. the food quest was fun and the ending is super cute.

survivor was my first experience with the game! i took multiple long breaks because of how frustrated i got at points, i even had to restart my first playthrough cuz i got stuck in filtration without max karma, but i just. kept coming back. the game just kept sucking me back in. i had the biggest ragequit ever at the jump to the wall in chimney canopy (didnt know about throwboosting so i died like 84538363 times. not just to the jump of course you know how chimney is) but i was back literally the next day. i could Not quit. not too much else to say abt them other than that ive replayed survivor like 4 times since it was all i could really do before downpour came out LOL. theyre the standard campaign so it goes in tha middle tier.

arti and monk were originally swapped but i judged arti too harshly i think. i loved the double jump so much, but when i played it i had scav kill squad leniency off and i had no idea how to parry. (also that one long trek between those two shelters in the upper section of metropolis (on the way to house of braids) can fuck right off to hell. ik i could have taken a diff route but ouygh my gowd) artis story is so cool and the ending art is SO badass i love it but scav combat sucks so bad. also i dont like killing them anyways theyre silly and i always get chieftain in my playthroughs :(

monk isnt actually even bad really. its just “ez baby mode”, which is fine! i think monk serves their purpose very well but honestly its not for me, esp after downpour. im a sweaty gamer guys i admit it im so so sorry plz forgive me💔💔💔🥀 i love monks cutscenes tho theyre very cute. a simple but effective story👍👍👍👍awesom

Oh God it's more Headcanons

To prepare for XC3 (because the DLC drops at like 9pm for some reason) I wrote more headcanons, mainly because I didn't have a specific character in mind to drabble about.

Sonia my beloved. God, Galar has so many great characters and yet I just don’t have the time to write for all of them… even those with banger designs. Anyways, Sonia. Where to even start with her.

Her hair is a mess. Humidity is her worst enemy. She spends dozens of minutes a day attempting to detangle it when the weather goes to shit. She would be forever indebted to you if you brushed her hair for her. Please just be careful, she will complain if you tug too hard.

Also be careful if you sleep next to her at night, because you very well may end up choking on her hair. Even just cuddling is risky business. You are never safe, not even if you are the little spoon. But it’s worth it because Sonia runs very warm, so it’s always comfy to hold her or rest in her arms.

Speaking of hair, she wants to style yours. Doesn’t matter what kind of hair you’ve got, she’ll find a way. Straight or curly or coils or braids or what have you, she will play with it. Doesn’t matter how long it is either. If you ask for a specific style, she’ll do it, but at some point she will weave little hearts into it to match her own. Don’t ask how she does it, it’s a secret.

Anyways, enough about that. I am absolutely obsessed with the idea of a kid rocking up to get their first pokemon from the Professor and her wife and their adopted son assistant. She’s just… so powerful I love her so much. 

Hop loves you. He ships you so hard with Sonia it’s unreal. He is Galar’s best wingman and will do everything in his power to get you two alone together. You guys could literally be married already and he would still be trying to set you guys up. And Leon is no different. Sonia’s his best friend and she talks about you all the time. This guy knows how much Sonia loves you and wants nothing more than for you two to be happy together. Sometimes a family is just a professor, her wife, their assistant, and his brother.

Not enough content for Big Sis Plumeria. She’s gotta take care of basically all Team Skull because they would never get anything done without her around, so she’d be immensely grateful if you either helped corral them or help her relax after constantly chasing after them.

She’s very much an “asshole to the world, sweetheart to her girl” type of girlfriend, mixed in with some tough love. She would never raise her voice at you or seriously insult you, something she does often with the grunts. The most she’ll do is mildly insult you for doing something stupid (as in she would call you an “idiot” or something along those lines), but it’s always evident that she’s more concerned than upset.

As long as you're her girl, no one is going to mess with you. Especially if you have a storied history. Asshole ex? Shitty family members? Straight up enemies? You don’t have to worry about those people anymore. 

Oh also all of the Team Skull grunts look up to you and would literally die for you. You’re Big Sis Two, their third favorite person. Also, if anything happened to you on their watch, they would have to face Plumeria’s wrath, which might as well be worse then Guzma’s

Slightly older contest-star Shauna who, despite being pretty girl-crazy, attempts to navigate her first serious relationship. I realize that I like Shauna more than most people, but hear me out.

When she went on a journey through Kalos with her friends, like stated above, she was completely girl-crazy. Literally every girl she met was the absolute prettiest woman she had ever seen (especially Diantha). But she never ended up getting into a relationship, despite wishing otherwise.

When she meets you, she is absolutely smitten. When you’re just friends, she dreams about you every waking minute. She really, really wants to hold your hand and kiss you and go on cute little dates to restaurants and picnics and do contests together and go shopping together and and everything else girlfriends do. She is obsessed. 

But once you start dating her, she’s a mess. She has all these things she wants to do with you, but she doesn’t know how to go about doing any of them, so sometimes she comes off as a little awkward in the most endearing way possible. She’s a little clumsy and hesitant when initiating affection, but every little thing you do together makes her so happy. It’s got the energy of a cute high school romance, just two dumbasses in love with each other.

Also she’s super supportive of you. Like Marnie, she is your personal cheerleader. She’ll bring up your achievements to everyone she comes across because she needs everyone to know how great you are and how lucky she is to be dating you. Please be supportive of her in return, she would actually ascend to heaven if she saw you in the audience of one of her contests.

Zisu… big woman. I don’t even have words to describe this absolute unit of a woman. She is far too powerful to fully put into words. Her strength is seemingly unending. She canonically trains with pokemon with her bare hands and could absolutely fuck all of them up.

She can bench press your ass, no matter your size or stature. She’ll carry you anywhere you want whenever you want, she’ll get anything you need off of the top shelf, she will lift up anything you need for whatever reason, and she will give you a little kiss on the forehead because she loves you very much.

If you’re afraid of Pokemon (which is pretty likely given the time period), she will do whatever it takes to help you get over your fears. Zisu is all the protection you need in Hisui. No Pokemon will ever get past her. But she would also like to help you get more comfortable with them, if nothing more than for her peace of mind. She can’t be there all the time, given her position in Team Galaxy.

But if you have a strong team, she would love to train with you. If you managed to beat her, she would love you forever. She’s hella strong, so she finds you being stronger than her in one aspect incredibly attractive. And if you managed to beat her in hand to hand combat? She would never recover.

I think Larry is objectively the funniest gym leader, but I whole-heartedly believe Iono is right behind him. I just think she is a funny little guy with an absolutely banger design.

As the most popular streamer in Paldea (I think), people across the region are going to know that you're dating. There is nothing you can do to avoid it. And Iono doesn’t want to hide your relationship. She wants to show you off.

Showing up on stream at least a few times is a mandatory part of dating her. Both Iono and chat love when you’re there. Sometimes Iono will warn you about what she’s planning beforehand, but other times she’ll leave you in the dark. Don’t worry, though, she won’t ever do anything that will make you uncomfortable.

More importantly, when dating Iono, you get to see the normal her, without the energetic streamer persona. Not to say that she’s completely different on stream, she just amps everything up for the camera. Off camera, she just wants to lay down with you and chill out. Let her complain about the weird people in her chat while you hold her close, she desperately needs it.

Outside of that, this girl loves to gossip. Tell her all about the drama you're dealing with or about the people you just don’t like, she eats that shit up. Likewise, she’ll also “spill the tea” as the kids say. She’s got a lot of people and things to tell you about, both big and small. Just promise to not blab to others about those she complains about. She already has to deal with too much weird shit to have time to deal with additional drama from other people.

Flannery is, like, an og waifu, or something like that. Anyways I like her because her design is sick and so is her gym aesthetic (at least in oras). Girlypop is confident in her abilities but she also only has a vague idea of what she’s doing and is just trying her best.

Being a rookie gym leader is hard, even if she is highly skilled. More importantly, it’s stressful. Thankfully, Lavaridge has a hot spring, giving her a perfect way to relax at the end of the day, and she is borderline desperate for you to join her. Listen, she just radiates disaster lesbian. Being in your presence helps her unwind as is, so pairing you up with the hotspring makes her melt. 

She is very dedicated to her training and would love it if you were to join her sometime. Be warned, it gets uncomfortably hot and you will most likely regret it almost immediately, so be prepared. She doesn’t ask you to join her because she doesn’t want you to accidentally strain yourself due to how rigorous it gets, but she’d let you if you asked (after warning you of how difficult it would be, of course).

She seems like someone that would enjoy hiking. Conveniently, there is a volcano right nearby to track up. Flannery desperately wants you to come with her because it would give her a chance to share something she loves with someone she loves. Don’t worry about getting tired, she will carry you up the remainder of the track, no sweat. When you make it to the top (or just find a clearing to rest at), you get to gaze at the beautiful scenery with her. 

Okay I now realize that I didn’t do much outside of the first point to show how much of a disaster she is but she just like… is. I cannot explain it, that is just the vibe she has. So even if she seems confident and held together in your presence, she is screaming in her head because you’re so pretty and she loves you AAAAA.

Oh shit I forgot about Tymeand Ryme for the gilf section of the last headcanon post fuck. Uhhhhh, I like them in the same way as the other gilfs in that they’re cool but ultimately they are funny little grandmas, so here comes your grandma posting.

Like the others, Tyme would totally bake you cookies and while eating them would help you do math. I don’t care if you’re not taking some kind of math class or if you're a student at all, she is going to help you do math. Someone has to teach you how to do your taxes, right? If that is not enough to entice you, then perhaps you would like to see her very cool rock collection, because she would totally have one, and a big one at that. Unrelated, but if you give her any kind of rock she could identify it immediately and would also cherish it dearly.

Ryme is the cool grandma. She doesn’t have time to bake cookies (she isn’t very good at it), but she makes up for it in other ways. You want to see a band or artist live? Just tell her, she’ll find a way to get you to that concert. She’d also let you get away with a lot of things, letting you off easy where others would be upset. Like, if you got into a fight with someone, she would lightly scold you then immediately ask if you won. She’d be really proud if you did and would comfort you if you didn’t. Also teaches you how to rap, but that much should be obvious.

Hopefully this is the last of the grandma posting because if I do this again it means I forgot someone else and I don’t think I did. I guess if there’s one major appeal to the gilfs it’s the domesticity of them? Like, you get the ideal of living your life alongside one another for such a long time, which is the dream, really. Girl I don’t know I’m gonna get back to regular unhinged scenarios sorry about this.

One professor was not enough for one post apparently because I wanna talk about Professor Juniper, the original hot professor. Ever the reliable woman, she will do all she can to lend a hand should you need it, but in return you need to put up with her deciding to do things before confirming with the other people involved beforehand.

Unlike most professors, Juniper has another professor to rely on, that being the other Juniper, so she does have a bit more free time on her hands. That being said, she is often doing things for other people, so she is pretty much as busy as the others. But because she’s just helping out other people and not completing research, she is definitely more accessible. Not going to say that she would hold off on helping someone to come help you if you were to need it, but she would do that (assuming that what she was doing before wasn’t urgent).

She loves to travel around the region, and would love it if you joined her. It’s not really a date, but it’s good quality time. Most of it is taken up by her rambling about the Pokemon that can be found in the area. She would also love it if you lent her a hand in her research. It’s a fun and cute little bonding activity, and it means you can spend more time together afterwards.

Like Sonia, the idea of rocking up to a lab only to be met by the professor and her loving wife is a very powerful one, but Sonia remains more powerful. After all, Juniper doesn’t usually give kids their starters in person, nor does she have an assistant whom she and her wife can semi-adopt.

As a side note, I considered using her first name because she has one, but I don’t know if that is common knowledge. It pops up at the very beginning of B2W2, but I didn’t realize it was there until, like, two days ago. 

Oh my God I forgot about Professor Magnolia because she isn’t even on my list of characters. I am so upset. And no I’m not going to fix this my moving her up to be with Tyme and Ryme because I need it to be known that I fucked this up here’s your grandma posting again and if I mess this up for a fourth time I’m going to be so upset with myself.

Magnolia is just a chill grandma. She always has cookies in her kitchen to give to Sonia. I’m pretty sure they live together so it’s not like she’s visiting her, but she feels that her granddaughter should always have access to finely made cookies. If you were to come over, she would break them out along with tea and have a surprisingly intellectual conversation. She may have given the professor title to Sonia, but she continues to delve into research, if nothing to fulfill her own self-interest.

These visits are especially interesting if you were, say, dating Sonia. She would give you all kinds of stories from when she was growing up. They aren’t particularly embarrassing, per say, but they usually embarrass Sonia anyways. She’s happy that her granddaughter has found both a path in life and someone to spend it with. In general, she would be interested in you as a person. She wants to have a good relationship with her future granddaughter-in-law, after all!

I swear to God if I forget another grandma (besides Cogita because I already write about her plenty) I’m going to lose it.

Let’s end this one with Misty. She’s normally sweet and bright, but she has a tendency to get snappy when annoyed, which tends to leave a greater impression on people than her regular nature since she easily gets frustrated.

Like all gym leaders, she has lots of responsibilities and is busy and also has an affinity for the type she uses. This is especially true for her since most of her designs are just swimsuits (good for you girlie). She will take you on walks all over Cerulean, as well as swimming in the water surrounding it. It’s her happy place, and she gets really annoyed when people interrupt the tranquil moment.

Sorry to say that it usually falls to you to keep her temper down in those situations. Remind her that it’s probably just a challenger looking to continue their journey and that you’ll get to continue your little date when she’s done. She’s still going to be annoyed, but it’s hard for her to remain bitter when she knows she gets to spend more time with you soon.

At some point, she wants to leave Cerulean and its gym for a while in order to go on a journey of her own. When she does, she wants you to come with her. Nothing sounds better to her than getting lost (metaphorically, she can’t stand actually getting lost) in nature with you by her side. Hopefully you don’t have something that could fry her bike because that would be pretty unfortunate.

I would say her sisters are supportive but they aren’t really there enough to know much about you. Sorry Misty. It’s a shame that they’ve been on the same cruise for twenty years. Someone should really check in with them.

now that i’ve watched a complete ass playthrough of FF16, some (jumbled) thoughts under the cut, though mostly about the story:

full spoilers ahead as well!!!!!!!!!!!

i didn’t have high hopes for the story since i played through heavensward and that was... an Expansion for sure, and i expected to have the same nitpicks about FF16 as i did with HW. it still surprised me though lol

maehiro cannot write complex women to save his life. period.

but strangely enough this isn’t even maehiro at his best so i wonder what actually got cut during development.

the world-building is immaculate as always and for once i actually want a dlc to explore more of it.

also this game’s cutscenes oozes with fucking money cbu3 is insane. what was your budget yoshi-p!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the way benedikta was easily one of the most interesting eikons in this line-up and yet she was done dirty by being killed off so early in the game.

even jill felt shallow at times and while the romance was pretty cute i will not lie, she just sort of fell flat for me at the end parts. maehiro i am in your walls.

i did love her mini-arc though and i wish there were more moments like that.

there’s a point near the end of the game where the gang encounters barnabas and i kept hoping jill would be playable but no... she was not.

cid is really well done though. like i LOVE him.

joshua/jill/clive could have been my all-time trio but they didn’t have the time to marinate well.

clive grew on me as well, thanks to ben’s performance (partly) but i was not expecting how lovely he is a protag... 

something about him being raised in a lonely castle by an abusive mother then growing up into a shy, traumatized shell of a man who just wants to atone for his sins and protect what he couldn’t protect, but realizing soon that there’s more to his life than sorrow. i love you clivefinalfantasy.

the side characters are also fucking great it’s so unexpected.

i also enjoyed dion and barnabas for what they were worth. everyone expected dion to be a traitor or evil and for barnabas to be a complex and tortured king but it turned out to be the complete opposite.

barnabas you are fucking crazy. i can respect that.

political intrigue as the pretty backdrop to an evil alien overlord/creator is nothing new but it’s just so fucking funny they went that way. the most classic of all FF move.

ultima as an end boss does nothing for me personally but i always love a good punch your god in the face so it actually did end up as a +1 on the scoreboard for me.

the pacing could be jarring at times with some strange choices story-wise. really wish they’d done less awkward sex scenes that didn’t really give us anything and gave us more time to explore the eikons and their dynamic with their respective dominants.

the jill/clive naked moment can stay tho that was precious. 

though now that i think about it, i do wonder if they were going for the shb route but ultimately changed it so it wouldn’t be too similar. the fallen is just Too similar to what we get for the Ancients, with ultima trying to save his planet from the blight this time around, except he was a selfish god at the end trying to preserve legacy and not life.

and yep i fucking cried at the end LMAO. i cried so hard my eyes were fucking swollen the next day it was actually unbelievable?????

clive holding joshua’s dead body while he has flashbacks of joshua holding hands with clive as children, then the moment when his brother bestowed the phoenix’s blessing, to joshua as a baby had me fucking bawling lmao fuck this game actually.

most of my complaints err on the narrative side of the game. the gameplay looks fun and from what i’ve played in the demo i always knew i was gonna love it, but gonna add any remarks here once i’m actually done with that.

it can be as easy as not cycling through multiple eikons but once you sit down a bit with it, it’s complexity shines with how well you can string together combos and maximizing each eikon’s moveset... it’s really fun and as a previous black mage main....... big numbers go boom.

the sidequests can be abysmal design-wise but as someone who has played ff14, it didn’t really faze me so it can be a YMMV thing.

73 hours, 159 level ups. I beat Elden Ring.

I bit the bullet, after fighting Dragonlord and defeating him, i then went on to first try all the final bosses of this masterpiece.

First of my Endgame tour, was Dragonlord. What a PAIN in the Ass to fight. Took me three tries. Of course, being a FromSoft game, Elden Ring's optional fights are the hardest. Malenia and Placidusax are no exeptions. But, at least, Malenia doesn't fucking teleport around. Sure, she's hard. But.. Placidusax is just terrible. One day, im going to get all the Sorceries/Incantations for the trophy, and when i do.. I'll be one overleved sorcerer. But as for Daedra, FUCK NO! He's not going to go against Placi for a VERY long time, if ever again. Hated this boss. If you do this boss, be a VERY high level. I was 152. Recommending being 160 and higher with ALOT of vigor.

Second.. Maliketh. My fucking FAVORITE fight in this whole game.. First tried. Best music, my all time favorite boss and character. He's what really got me wanting Elden Ring, so to beat him first try was.. Unbelievable to me. I thought he was an optional Endgame boss.. Like Farum Azula was optional to go to. But NOPE get FUCKED emotions. I love him so much.. Plus, I completed Gurranq's quest before doing Mali, so i got the special dialogue i wanted. :) Fav boss 10/10 will always look forward to fighting him.

Third, Gideon. I destined deathed his ass.. First try. He didn't even hit me- I sure showed him! Becoming Elden Lord and all. So sad that he chooses to fight against us as he doesn't believe a Tarnished could even be Elden Lord. Shame, he woulda been a good advisor for us.

Fourth, Godfrey. Annoying second phase, but overall a pretty fun fight. First try. Poor Serosh.. Godfrey is such a good guy though. Commending us for our strength and how a crown befits it.. Aww thanks man. Basically the first boss to be like 'WOW man. Your strong. Go for it.' Chivalry's not dead!

Fifth.. Radagon/Elden Beast. My gods.. Where do i begin? Radagon is an asskicker, that's for sure.. Poor fucking guy. First try. Kicked me and my Mimic Tear's asses like were nothing! I so wish we could do something for him, other than just killing him. I won't get into his lore and so fourth, but he was probably a pretty good guy, not motivated politically like Marika, kinda almost opposite of her. He was everything Marika didn't want to be. And i wish we could help Rennala too.. Fought the good fight, but in the end it just wasn't enough Rada 💔

Elden Beast, what a beautiful boss theme omfg.. Only had 5 flasks when i started with 12 on Radagon. Annoying because it can just go under the water.. But not as awful as Dragonlord. A good Final Boss, since its a 2-for-1 kinda deal. Drained me of all my crimson, but i still bested it.

The ending i got? I got the Duskborn Ending. And.. I got chills. I fucking love this game, and am crying. Just watching death be restored to the Land's Between.. People can finally just die again, things will never be the same though. Just Daedra, sitting on that throne, watching.. It felt profound, yet oddly comforting. I didn't get the same feeling i did after DS3, because after DS3 i felt a little... Hollow. Haha! Get it? Anyway.. I instantly hopped into NG+ as i got addicted to DS3.

With Elden Ring though, it was rather accomplishing. I think i forgot a Talisman for the legendary Talisman trophy, but seeing the Erdtree and Roundtable hold on fire.. It felt so empty. So. Entered Ng+ like a madman, and now I'm going to do it all over again! Yknow.. Except for Dragonlord (ESPECIALLY Dragonlord.), Fortissax, and Malenia. I don't even need to explain.. Lol

But then again, I ran through all DS3 bosses way after i capped NG+7. And i mean.. All of them. Even the DLC bosses. I found it fun to fight Midir in NG+7. Gael not so much, but you know :) Souls player's love doing crazy shit.

My plans are so- I either stay in NG+ as Dae, get/wait to get Age of Stars ending, or i move on and do as i did in DS3 and NG+7 the game before the DLC comes out. Or.. OR I take Tennren, my Sorcerer Build and do the Age of Order ending. THEN do the DLC with him, before diving in with Daedra. But I'll probably have Daedra go through the DLC first, because :)

The EldenSoulsBorne series is just a magnificent series, renound for it's twisting and turning lore, incredible stories to be uncovered and pondered- the punishing difficulty, staggering new player's, causing them to just drop the game, never to return. It happens with all the Souls games, if you don't know what your doing.

But these games, once you learn one, you will find it a breeze to go through all the other ones. I learned DS3 after about.. A whole three months of playing it, i think? It came out April, in 2016.. I bought it then. But took like.. A week break, because it was just so hard.

But the journey.. It was incredible. I'm so utterly blown away by all the stories Souls has to offer. All stories are beautiful, yet similar. So different, but are almost the same.. It's something I've never encountered before. EldenSoulsBorne will always habe place as #1 in my heart, because it just.. Speaks to me.

As I've said, I've completed DS3, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1, and now Elden Ring. DS2 is on its way to being completed.. I'm a fairly decent level and don't exactly expect too much trouble with the DLC's and endgame. But man..

Elden Ring hits different. All Souls have that unique hit on you, actually.. No Souls game will punch you in the heart and dick the exact same way.. I will always cherish these games, and the impact they made on my life.

If you haven't played one of the aforementioned games, i suggest, that if you are ever so eager, to start with Dark Souls 3. It's among the easier side of Souls games, but its still plenty challenging. These games prove difficult at first, but they are oh so rewarding when you learn them.

I have wired dreams sometimes. Like, really wired dreams. And if you can't tell where I'm going with this that's basically me saying this pic I commissioned was based of one of those dreams! One where I was Moon Knight of all people, a Marvel Super Hero with a split personality disorder I only just found out about at the end of last year before playing Spider-Man Web of Shadows for the first (which is actually ironic considering the artist I got to draw this mostly does Symbiote related artwork) and then a few months later the Moon Knight show airing on Disney plus. Not that I mind having a dream about that because honestly, I kind of like Moon Knight's outfit.

Original description: I can’t remember when I got a drawing Of something based of a dream I once had Oh wait a sec, that’s right. I never have! So this is quite a big occasion. Sorry, I couldn’t help but reference a few lines of Engelbert’s Humperdinck’s song A Man Without Love. It was used in the Moon Knight show after all so only fitting right? Moon Knight is a character I have only recently learnt about towards the end of last year. I knew who he was before playing Spider-Man Web of Shadows which was my first real exposer to him, but I never really knew that much about him. That was until I watched the Moon Knight show on Disney Plus recently and honestly, I kinda liked it. I’m not sure what the general consensus is for this show, but I liked it enough. My reason for getting my sona dressed as the character though? Wasn’t because of the show though. It was actually because of a crazy dream I had a few weeks ago. It started with me on a train along with my man Dante from the Devil May Cry series. And I'm pretty sure we were riding a train in Inkopolis from Splatoon. Why? Because the train was full of Inklings and Octolings and me and Dante were the only humans on the train!... Well, human and half human at least. I’m also pretty sure it was the train from the Splatoon 2 Otco Expansion as well since it had the same stickers on the side that the one in that DLC does. Either it was the same train repurposed or just some random train that looks similar. Anyway, it then went to me having pizza in a place with Thor! Yes, Thor the God of Thunder having a pizza with me! He wasn't even disgusted as a civilian or anything, he was in his iconic outfit. And I was having Pizza with him! In Inkopolis!... For some reason. At least, it might have been Inkopolis. I didn’t see us get off the train before I had my pizza after all. What was even stranger was when I got up to go to the toilet, I saw a anthro frog creature! And no, it wasn't Throg who is Thor as a frog (yes, that's a real thing!) Thinking about it I’m pretty sure it was that one character from Hoodwinked who’s name I can’t remember. Then after we had our pizza for some insane reason Thor let me hold his hammer. And I tested to see if it would return to me if I threw it. And it did... but not before crashing into someone’s car. Yeah. And then Thor left to, I don’t know, go kick Kratos’s ass in God of War Ragnarök I guess. And here’s where the Moon Knight part of the dream comes into play! Like with most of my dreams everything I saw was from my perspective BUT I saw that I was also Moon Knight! Not the character of Marc Specter, Moon Knights true identity, I was myself, BellmoTheGreat, as Moon Knight! I know I shouldn't look into my own dreams to much but let me just point out that Marc in the Marvel Lore became Moon Knight after taking refuge in a tomb of the Eygyption God Khonshu and chosen to be his Avatar. So what the hell was Khonshu in this dream thinking picking a guy like me from Australia and who's knowledge of Eygypt comes from Assassin's Creed Origins to be his avatar!?!? Then again, I also once had a dream where I was in the Backrooms with several other characters and when we escaped, we ended up in a village full of people who sacrificed anyone who escaped the Backrooms to their man-eating plants and I escaped rolling down the hill. On wheelie chairs. WITH Ghost from Modern Warfare! My dreams really are a Multiverse of Madness sometimes. Since then I’ve had the idea of my sona dressed as the Marvel Anti Hero with a split personality on my mind a lot and though he might not be my first choice for super hero’s I’d want to become, that honour goes to Spider-Man (take a wild guess at what suit I’d pick as my main lol), Moon Knights overall design is enough for me to say I wouldn’t mind wearing it. And I mean that two, I may of jokingly said it was a budget Assassin’s Creed cosplay in the past, but I genuinely do find Moon Knight’s design to be really freaking cool and I like it! I watched the Yuffie DLC and it looks really fun, but it also doesn’t seem like. FF7, at all. Also “Fort Condor” the game is the equivalent of something like Amazon or Google releasing a game where you destroy the National Butterfly Center or something. Like seriously.

Also seriously THAT’S where you decided to add Crazy Motorcycle Man?

And yes I did not like the other “Wutaian Ninja” Sono... whatever, and predicted exactly what was going to happen to him. I really thought the whole thing started pretty good but then it turned into a bad fanfic manga, where they try to cram as much cool stuff in around their Anime Self Insert as possible.

Also literally no one is going to know Deepground and the Tsviets and Weiss because they were from Dirge of Cerberus, the FF7 spinoff that basically everyone except my partner hated. Well, I didn’t hate it, and hilariously I think it did a better job of expanding the universe than a lot of the Remake stuff has, but I didn’t love it either, you know?

Anyway it’s just. Wild to see this stuff being thrown in willy-nilly to expand on everything. It has that feel to it where someone learns about something for the first time and they have to chuck it into everything.

The length of the DLC definitely contributes to the feeling of emotionally staggering all over the place, since it wants to be funny and a growing-up story and sad and infuriating all at once. There’s sort of this hint of post-World War II drama to it, but I really don’t think this was the time or place for it, nor was it handled very effectively. It sort of makes a mockery of what Wutai was supposed to have gone through at Shinra’s hands because they literally only bring it up sporadically during Sad Times, and then they’re back to joking and laughing.

It’s just wild to me they went with Weiss and the Tsviets for the end when there’s so much material closer to the core of the series they could have gone with. Deepground felt so deeply unnecessary, especially for Yuffie, since this was Vincent’s whole thing. You had no problem creating a whole new group of Avalanche people who sniff down their noses at Barrett’s “splinter cell” - also “gosh they’re causing so many problems for us!!!” doesn’t jive at all well with the appearance of “Main Avalanche” in game when they have gatling guns and heavy armor and they’re blowing up a Shinra depot and apparently working with Wutai ninjas - and your Ninja Dude, but making up a new bad guy is too much?

That and the feeling of colossal failure leaves the DLC so empty, ultimately. It started off so fun and looks like such a neat system! And then someone who watched too much Evangelion and Sad Naruto took a big literary dump on it while showing off their Big Brain Look How Much I Know About The Extended Universe.

“Gee you’re mean and so hard on them!” Yes because I wanted this to be GOOD. I really wanted them to succeed here, to tread that line between “cool new stuff” and “inglorious fanfic” and they decided to dive right into inglorious fanfic. And I know bad fanfic, I have written it myself.

Anyway.

The only possible thing I’m ever going to be excited for in this universe is Zack’s Big Adventure but I’m terrified they’d screw the whole thing up. It already sort of is screwed up because he has a random-ass Buster Sword on his back and in Crisis Core that was very specifically mentioned as something forged especially for Angeal so no production models exist, which means he should instead be using the standard SOLDIER sword.

It would be great though. Just imagine it, when’s the last time we had a Final Fantasy with a funny goofy main character who deals with his sadness in healthy ways and isn’t actually an alien or something, and who ends up never actually being broken, no matter what circumstances he finds himself in?

Give me that. I just beat Minerva again in Crisis Core, I goddamn deserve that.

YES I WATCHED HIS TOO !! <3 tbh i really loved the environment and roxy as a character (i sobbed) i have yet to really go down another rabbit hole of theories but tbh after watching i have a rlly low bar since sb was like wow so cool and new but then i guess i expected it to be more ? so for the dlc i was like okay let’s see how they’ll go with this and well i loved it more than sb but maybe still a bit “meh” about it like it’s not SO horrible a lot of cool stuff is in there but there was a lot of potential like using more of chica etc. (i hate the little music men btw). tho im disappointment with eclipse having like that one segment also maybe i wanted more scare factor? but i can’t really compare it to the older games this is just too different, just like sb. but anyway it was one hell of a confusing journey n it def has a lot to unpack but yeah it was a cool game HAHAHAHA tho i am so intrigued with the antagonist i want to learn more about it! it’s cool that they added book elements to the game :3 tbh i enjoyed it more cause it’s mark playing T^T how about you? what’d you think of it? (i’m also soso excited for the fnaf movie like the trailer gave me chills)

i was a bit underwhelmed in terms of jumpscares//over all scariness since we already saw the very dilapidated animatronics as the night went on in sb, i do think they made the DLC a bit easier compared to the main game since it seemed fairly easy to avoid monty, chica, and roxie (and prototype freddie but since he disappears in AR mode i feel like he can hardly be included in terms of obstacles of the DLC) the DLC is free though so i do definitely think the quality and content is reflective of it being free! I WAS ALSO SO UPSET THAT THE ECLIPSE SEGMENT WAS SO SHORT!!! sun/moon was my favourite animatronic in sb so i was hoping we'd see more in the DLC and i understand that the focus was on roxy but we saw him for less than a minute sobs T^T. (spoilers for the ending below)

i'm still so shocked that we got to see glamrock bonnie! his corpse (can i call it that???) kind of contradicts the information we learn about him in the main game which is so interesting and it makes me wonder how many rumours were false/manipulated by vanessa. overall i enjoyed the dlc and cassie as a protag! i really enjoyed sb and it being open world since that's the gamestyle i most enjoy so i figured i'd like ruin!! i hope they expand on the mimic and the implications it has lore wise considering gregory's voicelines that are spoken to cassie are repeated from the main game, which means the mimic was still able to learn and listen to those above the surface and we really know nothing of how big the mimic is gonna be to the overarching story (which im disappointed by bc i felt like the dlc whilst very fun didn't connect too much to what happened in the main game)

i'm also so excited for the movie!! it looks so good and i'm so happy that we're in a fnaf renaissance and getting so much new content!! it's so crazy to think how big the game grew!!
