Mr. Stacy? Nice to meet you!
Gwen takes you to her apartment after swinging through her city with you, but she didn't expect her dad to be home so early
Gwen Stacy x GN!Spider!reader
A/N: this is my "personal lore"(lol) but I consider that reader let Gwen stay over in their universe/home whenever she needed a place to stay at, and this is mentioned at some point here.
Tumblr media
You never got tired of watching Gwen swinging across her city, no matter how many times you witnessed it. The beauty of her own universe, and how she seemed so at home, fitting so well in her place but standing out from the rest at the same time. It felt good to know she was finally comfortable at home again.
You had been there for her after everything went wrong with her dad. A while after meeting her at the Spider Society, you had finally earned her trust, and she felt secure enough to tell you about everything: the people she had lost, the uncertainties she was facing, the fear of losing her dad... It broke your heart to know everything she was going through, and because you cared so much about the girl who was finally letting her walls down for you, you stuck by her side through everything. Good and bad moments, you were always there for her. Because you loved her. So seeing her finally feeling free and at home in her universe was like slipping under your blankets after a cold day.
You hadn't visited her city yet, not even after things eventually worked out between Gwen and her dad. So right now, you were fascinated by her world, how the colors seemed to bring a special and beautiful emphasis to everything. To her, especially. And with the way your gaze wouldn't leave her for a single moment, you could notice your surroundings fading into a watercolor blur, Gwen being the heart of this art piece that you were witnessing in that moment. No painting could be more beautiful and lovely than the girl in a Spider-Suit that was swinging in her webs a few feet in front of you.
With the gradual development of your connection, Gwen's desire to introduce you to her world grew bigger. Not only to her universe, but to everything that was a part of her life. She caught herself wishing that you'd leave a part of yourself in everything that was hers, always lingering in her life. She wanted your smell on her clothes, your laughter filling her bedroom, your initials on the pages of her notebooks, your pictures on her wall, your sleepy voice staining her mornings when you'd wake up in her bed, right beside her.
She wasn't going to lie to herself: having you in her universe, her world, was a big deal. For so long, she hadn't allowed herself to get close to anyone because the possibility of losing them would be too painful to bear. But you, as sweet and loving as you were, seemed to have some sort of magnetic aura that was irresistible to her. Truth is, she didn't want to resist you, even when her mind reminded her of all the terrible things that could happen. You were too good to miss. And you had always made an effort to maintain your friendship because you wanted to be around her just as bad as she did. Long story short, your effort and love made it almost impossible for her mind to convince her to stay away from you.
So, even though she was a bit nervous about it, her faith and excitement about you washed away the doubts she had about past events repeating themselves with you. For the first time in a really long time, she was happy to let someone in. She wanted you to be close to her, in every single way. Having you in her universe was special to her. She wanted you to stay forever right there with her, even though she knew you couldn't abandon your own universe. The best she could do was convince you to stay just a little longer, more and more every time.
Although Gwen wanted to take it easy on her "Spider-woman duties" that day to fully enjoy your company, the city didn't seem to get the memo. Every once in a while, you two had to take a few moments to help the civilians and stop robberies. But even then, you seemed to enjoy witnessing each other's performances against crime, complimenting your abilities and skills with genuine admiration. You couldn't ignore how much you loved her graceful moves and sarcastic jokes, both signature traits of hers.
As the sun was just starting to set, Gwen convinced you to come over to her apartment, attempting to keep you with her for as long as she could. And how could you refuse? Every word that comes out of her lips gives you a warm feeling, and when her hand brushes against yours, tugging on them to lead the way, you find yourself willing to follow her without caring about the destination.
The two of you stopped by a convenience store near her place, Gwen insisting that you'd choose anything you were craving. She thought she could win you over with snacks so maybe you'd stay longer, oblivious to the fact that all it would take was a simple "please, stay with me" and you would not be able to say 'no' to her. You never were.
She lovingly admired you as your eyes widened through your mask, excitedly picking a bunch of snacks for the both of you to share later. Her heart fluttered when she noticed you picking her favorite chips and drink, appreciating how attentive and thoughtful you always were. She felt so lucky to be loved by you, with all your sweetness. And to add to her luck, the cashier was kind enough to only charge part of the price for all your snacks and drinks, as a 'thank you' to the friendly neighborhood Spider-woman and her lovely Spider companion.
Leaving the store, she finally led you to her apartment, climbing on the wall. You followed her as she opened the window to her bedroom, holding out her hand to help you in, the grocery bag on her other hand. While the two of you shared your thoughts on today's hang out, your laughter filled the space, and she softly chuckled at her secret wish-come-true. Taking off your masks, the two of you stood by the window, your eyes studying the room while her admiring gaze was focused on you. You loved the intimacy of bedrooms, that give away the tiny details about someone, but only to those with attentive and caring eyes. It felt like entering her world all over again, taking in the new yet familiar atmosphere, simply a reflection of the girl. The simple fact that you were standing right there was a manifestation of her trust for you. Gwen wanted you to see her, all of her.
Your hands were still connected when your gazes met, giggles escaping your lips as you continued the topic. "Oh, I felt so bad for accidentally scaring that old lady," your hands cover your lips, trying to hold back your laughter. "I couldn't even warn her in time, I just swung past her and took her away from the fight! The poor woman was–"
Hearing all the noise coming from his daughter's bedroom, not expecting Gwen to be home, George Stacy makes his way towards the door, slowly opening it. Both you and Gwen sensed his presence right before he entered the bedroom, freezing for a moment as he stood by the doorframe, gaze fixed on the two of you.
"Gwen," he says, his voice giving away his surprise at seeing her home, along with you. Everything seems to pause for a moment, silence filling the room as none of you seem to be certain about your next steps. Although you were taken by surprise, you quickly came to your senses, deciding to politely introduce yourself to make a good impression on your girlfriend's dad.
"Mr. Stacy, hi! Nice to meet ya, I'm–" you start, taking a few steps towards him and holding out your hand for a polite handshake. You try your best to hide how nervous you actually are.
"[name], I assume," he chuckles with an amused smirk on his face, shaking your hand. "Gwen has told me a lot about you," he looks at her, chuckling.
You turn to face her, imagining the blush that must be on her face, unable to actually see it due to the low lighting in the room. "Aw, you talk about me?" you tease her, but your tone gives away your fondness for her action, a soft smile appearing on your face.
George notices Gwen's silence, still processing the unexpected event, along with your teasing. "Oh, she does. I was wondering when I would get to meet this intriguing Spider-Person who won my daughter's heart," he replies, his words bringing a genuine smile to your face. Despite his teasing tone, he was actually delighted to finally meet you. He had noticed Gwen's shy and loving smiles whenever she mentioned you, how she'd quietly chuckle or blush whenever she was texting you, how her voice turned softer when she'd talk to you through her watch. After witnessing his daughter's difficult moments and being away from her for so long, his heart grew warm with appreciation, thankful that she had finally found love, soft and sweet like a marshmallow.
"Ah, okay dad, that's enough," Gwen finally intervened, noticing how warm her cheeks were, causing both you and her dad to chuckle. You lean back on the wall near George, the two of you observing her as she placed the grocery bag on her bed. His gaze traveled through her room, noticing how disorganized she left it, even though he was used to her messy nature.
"Gwen, if you're going to bring your partner over, you should at least organize your room," he playfully scolded her, earning a chuckle from you. She muttered a 'right' before pacing around her bedroom, starting to gather all the clothes and items that were scattered around.
"Wow, even after I lectured you about leaving your stuff lying around in my apartment, it seems like you still haven't learned your lesson," you tease her again, shaking your head as you chuckle. Mr. Stacy's eyes widen at your words, his lips slightly parting in shock.
"You left your mess around their place?" he asked her, astonished by her behavior, making you laugh even more. Of course, he didn't know you don't mind it. In fact, neither of them knew how much you actually liked to see Gwen's possessions in your home, reminding you of her constant presence in your world, even when she wasn't there in person. That was one of the things you liked about her, always absentmindedly leaving a bit of herself wherever she goes. Something the two of you shared and liked about each other, although expressed in your own unique ways. Gwen, obviously through her mess.
She stuttered, trying to find an excuse or an apology, but failed to do so. It was obvious that she was grateful for your kindness and support, always wanting to help you out in return, despite your constant reassurance that there was nothing she had to give you in return, your actions only reflecting how much you cared for her. But you made her feel so comfortable and relaxed that her disorganized nature ended up shining through. To you, it was like an accomplishment, getting her to naturally be herself around you, no walls nor facades.
"If every interaction between you two will lead to teasing me, I'm gonna have to keep you apart as much as possible," Gwen said, glaring at the both of you with narrowed eyes as she folded her clothes. You and George couldn't hold back your amused chuckles.
"Alright, alright," he put his hands up in defense, "just don't forget your manners next time". His attention turned to you as Gwen continued to organize her bedroom, "well, Gwen mentioned you two met at that... Spider‐Person community, right? How is that working out for you?" he asked you, trying to get to know you better.
You nod, "Oh, yeah, we met at the Spider Society," you explain, giggling politely at his confusion about the name. "Eh, you know, Spider business aren't very easy, between keeping your own city safe and having to save the multiverse every once in a while," you let out a nervous chuckle, "but it's definitely worth it, doing our best to protect our people," your eyes shift to Gwen, observing her with fondness. Mr. Stacy follows your gaze, softly smiling as he notices the way you look at her.
Returning your focus to him, you add, "Oh, and don't worry, sir, I always make sure to keep Gwen safe during missions," you softly smile, reassuring him as you demonstrate how much you really care about her. He seems to appreciate your gesture, offering you a genuine smile as a silent 'thank you'. Still listening to your conversation, Gwen playfully scoffs, stopping pacing around her room for a moment.
"You? Oh, okay, sure," she laughs, "It's more like the other way around most of the time," seems like it's her turn to tease you. She's not entirely wrong, considering your clumsiness occasionally causing you to hurt yourself during missions. Or in your daily life, too. Your jaw drops slightly as you let out a scoff mixed with a chuckle, furrowing your brows.
"Hey! Shh, I'm trying to make a good impression here," you say, earning a laugh from Gwen's dad as he shakes his head in amusement. "Besides, you never got super hurt, so technically, I do keep you safe," you add, matter-of-factly.
She turns to look at you, narrowing her eyes but the smile on her face betraying the rest of her expression. "Maybe I'm just better at keeping myself unharmed," she teases you, like she always loves to do. You shake your head and laugh. "But I will give you some points for patching me up with your cute band-aids after fights," she adds, compensating for her teasing with a playful but genuine comment.
"Thank you," you respond with a proud smile and giggles. She couldn't help but admire you, her love for you evident in her eyes. And George, still observing the interaction, was amazed by your dynamic. He couldn't recall the last time he saw his daughter this open and relaxed, and the look on her face whenever she looked at you was certainly uncommon. It's safe to say you have earned his approval, and perhaps even more: his fondness.
"Are you staying for dinner, [name]?" He asks you, sounding like an invitation. Your lips parted to reply, but you hadn't even thought about your answer. Your plans were to just spend half an hour longer with Gwen before heading back to your universe to watch over your city, until this encounter changed the course of your day. You consider his offer for a moment, unsure about spending even more time away from your city, pushing aside your own wish to stay here forever. But when your gaze turns to Gwen, any doubt you had simply dissolved like cotton candy in your mouth.
You knew you couldn't resist the way she looked at you. The soft smile on her face and her pretty, pretty eyes observing you expectantly were enough to convince you to stay for as long as she'd ask you to. It didn't matter how long you two were together, your heart would always skip a beat whenever she'd give you that look. So, still looking at her, your lips closed for a moment, letting out a soft chuckle. "I would love to, if that's okay," you smile sweetly, slowly turning your gaze to the man next to you.
When you answered, Gwen's smile widened, making you melt at the sight of her adorable tooth gap. You started to wonder whether you were actually human or ice cream, considering how often you melted for her. Your smile matched hers, and you tilted your head to rest against the wall, never getting tired of admiring your girlfriend. In her world, somehow even more than usual, she looked like pure art.
Seeming pleased, George nods at your answer, smiling as he walks away from the bedroom, leaving the two of you alone again. You slowly walk over to Gwen, who was leaning against her dresser. Standing in front of her, your arms naturally wrap around her shoulders, and you feel your heart flutter in your chest at the contact of your bodies. Her hands travel from your hips to your lower back, pressing tenderly to bring you even closer.
From up close, even in a dimly lit setting, you could almost see all of the features you loved on her. Her pretty freckles, the shape of her lips, the color of her eyes, her lashes, her eyebrow piercing... you could spend forever naming every single detail you loved about her, from inside and out. Even though you enjoyed her sarcastic and cool demeanor that always amused you, you simply loved how her expression seemed to soften at your sight. How lucky you felt to be the reason why this blonde would relax in your presence, so comforted by your love.
"I can't believe you keep convincing me to stay longer and longer," you tell her, the smile on your face giving away how much you were enjoying being right there with her, feeling her body softly pressed against yours. "What's next, are you gonna kidnap me so I stay forever with you?" you tease her, in an already failed attempt to hide how much you actually wanted to never leave her side.
"Oh, I don't think I even have to," she replies with a smug smirk, a proud expression imprinted on her face. Her thumbs gently caressed your waist, making your body relax even further. "I bet I can get you to stay forever willingly, I don't even gotta force you." Damn it, her tone gave away how she had you figured out. But the look in her eyes showed some sort of relief at the knowledge that you wanted this as much as she did. She felt so grateful that, without even having to try, she would have you by her side willingly.
"Damn, was it that obvious?" you playfully roll your eyes, softly giggling. Your faces were so close, she could feel you breath blowing against her skin. Everything between the two of you seemed to be enhanced, and she reveled at the heightened awareness of your presence. You were heaven for her, bringing up wonderful new feelings she hadn't even considered possible before.
Your question made her chuckle softly, the sound awakening the butterflies that seemed to live in your stomach ever since you met her. You had started loving this feeling the moment it was associated with her. Her eyebrows relaxed as she kept her gaze on you, her face still soft but slightly serious, expressing honesty and vulnerability. "I'm glad you're staying," she whispered, her eyes wandering to your lips for a moment as her fingertips traced patterns on your lower back.
Her tender touch, even through the fabric of your spider-suit, felt so loving and intimate. To hide your lovefool smile, you pepper her face with kisses, like a sweet attack. But when she laughs, you pull back to not miss the sight of her smile, that matches yours. "Me too," you reply, gazing into her eyes. "So, d'you think I made a good impression? Or was it obvious that my heart was absolutely pounding in my chest?"
She wraps her arms tighter around you, planting a quick peck on your lips before answering, "You did great, trust me. Better than I did when meeting Miles' parents, do you remember that?" You giggle at her embarrassed smile, recalling the memory.
"Oh, yeah, that was painful to watch," you tease her, causing the both of you to burst into laughter. You were grateful for these light-hearted, silly moments between the two of you, giggling like stupid, but totally in love teenagers.
Once you two calm down, her gaze meets yours again. "I already put in a good word for you, and judging by today's interaction, I'm pretty sure he loves you already," she assures you, calming your nerves as she brushes away a strand of your hair behind your ear. "He even invited you for dinner," she adds with a playful smile, "I'd say I'm not the only one who wants you around for a little longer."
"Oh, you're making it so hard to remember I have a whole city to look after and that I can't stay in your universe forever," your dramatic exaggeration of your words earn a loving chuckle from her. "Seriously, don't let me stay forever. I have many fans that need protection and autographs, alright?" You joke with a wide smile on your face.
"Didn't you tell my dad you had to keep me safe or something like that?" She teases you, looking up pretending to recall the conversation from just a few minutes ago. You can't help but chuckle at her playful attempt to convince you once again to stay longer with her, jokingly slapping her arm.
Despite not lasting forever, time seemed to kindly grant you a wish as it appeared to slow down that evening. As you all ate dinner, you and George shared loving(and a few embarrassing) memories involving Gwen, who couldn't handle any more teasing coming from the both of you, despite secretly enjoying your interaction the whole time. She was glad to witness it, grateful that the two of you got along well. Gwen ended up noticing that, little by little, the loneliness that followed her around for so long was starting to fade away. Your warm presence in her life was like a sun that illuminated everything, filling her with love. And now, she was able to be present with two of the people she loved the most, and she was sure that they loved her back.
Before you went back to your universe, you and Gwen took a few minutes to watch a movie and eat the sweet snacks you had previously bought together. As the sky turned darker, you found comfort in your girlfriend's arms, that were lovingly wrapped around you while the two of you sat on the couch with a blanket over your legs. And even after you returned to your own universe, neither of you could stop smiling at the thoughts and memories of each other, cherishing every moment you spent together. You couldn't wait for the next time you'd spend another day with Gwen, as you found yourself loving to see more and more of her and her life.

Anomaly Part 4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Gwen Stacy (Ghost Spider) x Reader HUGE SPOILERS FOR ATSV
Characters: Y/N, Gwen, Hobie, Pavitr & Miles, with some Miguel and Jessica Mentions
Description: Everything you said to Miguel was wrong, Gwen did indeed drop the ball a tiny bit because of her relationship with Miles causing you to get an earful from both Miguel and Jessica. The spot was on the run and was going to different universes trying to gather as much power as he could. You get assigned to assisting them with taking down the spot and finally get to meet Miles.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I told you if this happened you would be held responsible” Miguel looked furious at Y/N Who was once again on his platform with his superiority complex.
“I have no regrets about letting her go she needed to see him and I’m glad she got too, I just wished it was under different circumstances”
“Give her a break yah!” Hobie said beside Y/N with his hands in his signature jean jacket and his guitar slung over his arm. His big bushy hair bouncing around.
“No, they convinced me to let this happen, the most IMPORTANT anomaly we should of captured and stopped is now running amok in the multiverse” Miguel punched his desk again, it’s a wonder how that thing stay intact it’s probably made out of vibranium or something.
“Look it happened, leave us to go fix it and handle it from here” Hobie grabbed Y/N’s arm and dragged them off towards the portal he opened to earth 50101 dragging them through the portal. As soon as they arrived they could hear them bickering over who would open the barrier. Hobie sent Y/N a smirk and put his mask on running forward and kicking the barrier down.
“HOBIE!” Both Pavitr and Gwen yelled out in unison. Y/N watched him jam out on his guitar rolling his eyes as he did, he knew how to make an entrance. Y/N followed closely behind with their mask down.
“Y/N!” Gwen said, they could hear the smile radiating from her mask.
“Hobie? Y/N” Mile said mildly confused in the back. Both you and Hobie looked up facing down the spot.
“Look at that another two, I love how many variations of you there are” The spot said directing to all of the Spiders in front of him.
While the other Spiders were bickering in the background Y/N leapt into action. Although they could catch every couple words coming from Miles and Hobie.
“Is this thing the one from 1610?” Hobie said giving Pavitr a noogie and pointing at Miles.
“You understand this guy?” Miles said gesturing to Hobie.
“And who’s the other one? Y/N did you say? Is this the one you haven’t stopped talking about since…” Gwen cut him off promptly swinging away.
“Hey Hobie thanks for breaking the shield!” Pavitr said dodging all of The Spot’s attacks “Ahhh I loosened it” Said Miles also rushing in to battle.
“Main advice, use the palms not the hands” Hobie said gesturing to his own hands.
“Ahhh yeah Miles this is Hobie and Y/N they’re my friends”
“Well I’ve never heard of either of you because Gwen hardly mentioned you” Hobie then started going off a tangent about who he was, where he came from and what he believed in. Y/N laughed at the blatant introduction he had about how unpolitical he was.
“Okay well since we’re doing this for the last time, Hello my names Y/N and for the last 2 years I’ve been the one and only Spider. Same as everyone else I was bit by a spider, got these cool powers, I live with my Aunt who has raised me since birth and is a borderline mad genius with the amount of science she does out of her house. I lost my parents, my uncle and now I’m here. I am also apart of this so called band that Hobie is/isn’t in” Y/N finished their introduction managing to get a small hit on The Spot who just teleported away.
“Gwendy you left your jumper around my place” Hobie said crouched on the ground next to her and then swinging off to go after spot
“What’s a Jumper?” Miles asked standing in the middle of the room following Gwen around
“It’s like a sweater” Pavitr said disappearing after Hobie
“That’s Y/N’s jumper actually” Gwen said landing next to Miles and then pulling herself towards Spot who put a portal in front of her only to smash into Pavitr
“Yes I can also see your wearing my chucks too” Y/N said ducking underneath one the Spots portals only to get hit by another one and land on Gwen. Furiously blushing Y/N stood up super quick dusting off their clothes and trying so hard not to make eye contact.
“Are you okay?” Gwen asked, concern laced in her voice as she walked towards Y/N, she put her hand against their cheek and pulled away quickly. “You’re very hot at the moment this isn’t normal are you sick?” Trying everything they could do to get away from Gwen they shot a web in any direction causing Miles to hit it and fall face first on the ground.
“This isn’t fair” Miles said flat on the ground. Y/N was trying so hard not to think about the conversation they had with A/N about their feelings for Gwen but was trying so hard to shake it off.
Pavitr let out a loud gasp and Y/N turned towards him with the most evil glint behind their mask as they could. “Don’t you dare!” Y/N yelled towards Pavitr who was giggling like a school girl. “I know” He said before swinging away just before Y/N could grab him.
“You shut up Pavitr you know nothing” Y/N yelled once again and Gwen just grew more and more confused. “We don’t have time for this we need to take down the spot” Just as both Y/N and Gwen went to swing off The Spot managed to get Miles in a corner and used his port to get the other Spiders away.
“This is going to be good for us Spider-Man” The Spot said to miles. While the Spot was going through his evil monologue Gwen gave Y/N another look.
“What was that with Pavitr?” She asked, Y/N glanced away and shook their head. “Nothing Important” Y/N could hear giggling coming from the pile again.
The collider started going off, all the Spiders got up and chased after the spot trying to stop him from entering the collider, before he did they managed to web him holding him back before he entered the collider.
“You’re not a joke, right gang?”
“Absolute not”
“Completely Unamusing!”
“I don’t believe in comedy….just kidding”
“I don’t think its that funny that you managed to turn into this just because of the bagel”
All the spiders turned to look at Y/N who yelled out that last thing, before they could respond the spot had snipped the web and floated into the collider. They all flew backwards and began dusting themselves off. Just as they stood up Pavitr started speaking.
“Well that was another easy adventure for Spider-Man”
“No no no no no no” Said the other 4 Spiders in unison. The collider exploded causing the spot to gain the abilities he wanted to take down Miles. He emerged from the collider pure black and spoke to miles briefly.
Once they were all able to they ran out of the collapsing Alchemex building towards the exit avoiding all the rubble. Once they made it outside they could hear the foundation of the entire building itself start to collapse and fall.
“Y/N, Hobie and Gwen slow down the building, Pavitr and I will clear a path!” Miles jumped off rushing down to save the people below with Pavitr, Hobie, Gwen and Y/N leapt after them webbing up the building as best as they could.
Y/N managed to get to the very tip of the building and stood on a roof top of another building. They rubbed their hands together and held them out waiting for the impact. As soon as it hit them they stumbled backwards about 10 feet just on the edge of the building underneath them but began to push back. Y/N had an outstanding amount of strength ever since they took that serum their Aunt had given to them, they managed to get a hold of building stopping most of the damage. However there was still a lot of rubble getting away from the building.
“Don’t worry about this part you guys go help those below!” Hobie and Gwen nodded letting go of their webbing and rushing below to help/ Y/N with the whole building on their back managed to web up the main building and stop it from going any further. Once they had done that and it was safe to leave the area the swung down to the rest of the commotion. Y/N could see they managed to save everyone, Hobie was congratulating Miles and Gwen was staring down at her watch. Y/N could clearly see the words “CANON EVENT DISRUPTED” Flashing across the screen. Y/N scoffed as they didn’t believe in all that nonsense and knew they could control their own destiny so was happy that Miles was here and managed to save Captain Singh.
The whole crowd was cheering for them briefly and was replaced with horrified screams as a giant black hole opened up. Y/N watched a giant spider robot come down from the sky and out came Miss Jessica Drew herself, they watched Gwen try to explain the situation about Miles but she brushed them off saying Miguel wanted to see all of them at HQ.
A big sigh left their lips as they trailed behind the other spiders entering the portal and heading back to the Spider Society.
Y/N was too lost in thought about what was happening with themselves and wasn’t 100% focused on the mission. Don’t get them wrong they understood what was at stake here but A/N’s words kept playing on in their head.
“You won’t admit it but you feel something for her, I just want you to be absolutely sure that this is something you want, because if it isn’t and things start to spiral down I am worried that she may never open up to another person again. Because I know you wouldn’t” Sometimes Y/N hated how right she was about all of it, how she could read them like a book. It was an unfair advantage she had on them sometimes but Y/N knew that their A/N was right, it was just hard because she wasn’t as focused as she should be.
When they got to Spider Society Gwen was so distracted with Miguel’s demand of him wanting to see them that she turned into a robot who followed orders obediently. Y/N knew why, she didn’t want to lose access to any of this, her favourite people were all here and this was the only way she could see them. Plus she was still very much running away from her past and her dimension.
Y/N shoved their hands in their pockets and followed like a lost puppy, stuck in their head going over every scenario, every situation that had led them to this point. They already knew what was going to happen, they knew Miguel was not going to be okay with Miles changing the canon events and they knew that Miles was not going to like that, not when he found out about his own dad and also that he was never meant to be Spider-Man.
Hobie noticed the glum look on Y/N’s face and walked in pace with them.
“Whats wrong with my singer?” He asked facing towards Y/N. “I’m just distracted at the moment Hobie is all” They said quietly while trying to not draw attention to themselves and also continue walking at pace. Miles was too busy making comments on everything they saw while Gwen was trying to get them to hurry up.
“Yes bruv but whats going on in that big brain of yours” Y/N let down their guard for a split second, if anyone was going to agree on the events that were about to happen it would be Hobie.
“You already know what’s about to go down right?” Y/N asked quickly, Hobie smirked and nodded already holding a couple of pieces of electronics he had taken from different pieces of equipment. Y/N had to give it to Hobie he was always prepared no matter what was going to happen, its like he had been waiting for Miles to show up and cause a disruption.
“No matter what happens we will have to pick sides and I know who’s side we’re going to be on, its just her I’m worried about” Hobie said gesturing to Gwen. Even now she looked terrified, looking down at her watch waiting for it to disappear in a second.
“When it come’s down to it I bet you Gwendy will be the one leading the charge I reckon, especially for him” Hobie pointed at Miles, Y/N wasn’t an idiot they knew with the way Gwen went on about Miles she held a special spot for him in her heart, they just didn’t know how deep it went and to be honest they didn’t want to know.
“I don’t know what this is, I don’t know where its going, I don’t know if she even likes me the same, All I know is that pain and suffering she has gone through I want to fix that” The conversation Y/N had with A/N echoing in the back of their head. That’s all they cared about right now was to take care of Gwen, was to take care of that pain and suffering she has been feeling her entire life and get rid of it. Y/N would fight every single spider if it meant that they could take on that pain for her.

Omniverse - Another crazy Spider-Verse crossover idea I had, this time based on Ben 10
Yep, I had this idea floating around in my head for quite a bit today, in part thanks to reading up plenty about Ben 10 on the TV Tropes wiki. It got me imagining; what if we had another Spider-Verse-esque crossover, but involving the universe of Ben 10 instead?
I mean, the premise of alternate realities and timelines has been explored quite a bit in the many iterations of the franchise (like Gwen getting the Omnitrix instead of Ben or Ben's other alternate counterparts), and it got me imagining a cast line-up for the concept. The ones I thought up for the story are as follows:
Omni-Gang
Miles Morales / Spider-Man II = Alt Alan Albright / Alan Fanon (harbouring on him being a fanon counterpart to the original)
Peter B. Parker / Spider-Man = Ben A. Tennyson / Ben 10
Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman = Julie Yamamoto / Julie 30
Spider-Man Noir = Classic Cartoon Ben 10
Spider-Ham = Reboot Ben 10
Peni Parker and SP//dr = Anime Lucy Mann and Ship
Pavitr Prabhakr / Spider-Man India = India Jimmy Jones
Hobie Brown / Spider-Punk = Ultimate Ben 10,000
Margo Kess / Spider-Byte = Gwen 10
Mayday Parker = Toddler Ken Green-Tennyson
Villains (Into the Omniverse)
William "Kingpin" Fisk = Phil Billings
Aaron Davis / The Prowler = Manny Armstrong / Techadon Warrior
Olivia Octavius / Doc-Ock = Arshika Charlie Animo / Dr. Animo
Green Goblin = Sunder the Retriever
Tombstone = Fistrick
Scorpion = Vulkanus
Villains (Across/Beyond the Omniverse)
Adriano Tumino / Renaissance Vulture = Pastel Master Kundo
Jonathan Ohnn / The Spot = Albedo / Negative Ben 10
Armadillo = Ssserpent
Miles G. Morales = Alan K. Albright
Villains (Miscellaneous)
Doctor Crawdaddy = Tim Buktu (Ben 10 Reboot)
Pavitr's Hobgoblin = Trombipulor
Omni-Society
Miguel O'Hara / Spider-Man 2099 = Reboot Evil Ben 10/Alien X
Lyla = Alternate Glitch (in a Gwen form)
Jessica Drew / Spider-Woman = Molly Gunther
Ben Reilly / Scarlet Spider = Ben 23
Supporting Cast (Base Universe)
Jefferson Morales = Alt Pierce Wheels
Rio Morales = Alt Helen Wheels
Spider-Man I = Ben B. Tennyson / Ben 10
May Parker = Grandpa Max Tennyson
Mary-Jane Watson-Parker = Kai Green-Tennyson
Ganke Lee = JT
Supporting Cast (Ben A.'s universe)
Mary-Jane Watson = Kai Green
Supporting Cast (Julie's universe)
Peter Parker / The Lizard = Ben Tennyson / Zs'Skayr
Captain George Stacy = Victor Valadis
Supporting Cast (Jimmy's universe)
Gayatri Singh = Elena Valadis
Supporting Cast (Alan K.'s universe)
Rio Morales = Alt Helen Wheels
The Omnitrix is the swap-in for the radioactive spider here, and whoever finds it is the one (in)voluntarily assigned to help protect the universe from all sorts of threats, whether they wish to or not, sending their life from ordinary to extraordinary fast.
I picked Julie specifically for the role of Spider-Gwen, considering how she lost her overall touch in the series after Omniverse (and kinda because I personally shipped Ben and Julie as a kid, even with their rough spots), hence why I felt she and Alan would make a good fit for each other due to similar insecurities.
I had been thinking carefully about the roles to assign to each character I could. I originally intended Ben 23 to be the swap-in for Spider-Ham, but considering how full of himself he was before Omniverse Ben/Ben Prime came along (which is why he's in Reilly's place), I felt Reboot Ben 10, whose world is less serious than the others, could fit the role better, whilst also inheriting sympathetic traits like relating to losing someone close.
The Classic Cartoon Ben 10 isn't from the ORIGINAL storyline, but rather one based on classic cartoons from the 60s and 70s, just to avoid confusion there. Lucy Mann's genki girl approach, for one, made her a perfect fit for Peni's role here, too.
And considering Jimmy Jones is a big fan of Ben 10 in canon (and was respected for it in Ultimate Alien), I felt the naïve newcomer status could work for an alternate universe version of him from India. And as Ultimate Ben 10,000 is pretty much on top of his game (alongside being less likely to steer towards canon), he fits well for Hobie's role.
The evil reboot Ben 10, I felt, fits well for the role of Miguel, since he lost his Gwen and Max when they tried to save him, which led him down a darker path in life and required FIVE Omnitrix users to take him down. Likewise, I thought a Gwen variant of Glitch to go with him (which fits well with her sass in the series proper) fits Lyla's role as a digital assistant to a futuristic hero.
Since the four Plumbers' Helpers are of similar age, I felt that Pierce and Helen are Alan's legal guardians in Bellwood, alongside both assisting the Plumbers in protecting Earth. Manny, who has Aaron's role, is the most hot-headed of the four, but has a good heart deep down.
The reason for Alan having to inherit his Ben's role is through inheriting his Omnitrix after Ben gives him the responsibility to protect his world for him, and his compatibility with it came from the other dimension thanks to the experiments Phil's scientists were doing. As for the whole hair-sticking incident, Julie's hair was longer (as far down as her waist) before the accident, and at present, it's as long as in canon.
Max being the badass old man, no matter what universe, comes with the territory anyway, same with him being tech-savvy, which allows him to help Alan adjust to being the new hero. Kai is also commonly the girl Ben ultimately ends up marrying between universes, and JT being Alan's roomie contributes to him being the more chill between him and Cash (the glasses are a plus, too).
I also thought carefully about the rogues gallery between stories from throughout Ben 10's history, like having a female counterpart to Dr. Animo, or Ssserpent being the random villain Alan has to quickly deal with on his way back home with a cake, due to the villain's butt-monkey status in his first two appearances (he got better on the third).
Zs'Sakyr, I felt, was the best counterpart to represent The Lizard in Omniverse, since he's Ghostfreak's true self who tried possessing Ben and gaining full power over the Omnitrix. And I've kept up with the theme of altering art styles for the AU version of Master Kundo (like how Vulture was from the Renaissance, Green Impostor (Funkinverse) was from a sketchbook, and Snively (from my work, IAB!) was from a cell-shaded world).
Albedo, I thought, would be the best option available for a swap-in for Ohnn, as he became villainous through making a fake Omnitrix that made him a direct doppelganger of Ben (until a bioenergy feedback caused his appearance to shift), and since he fell into D-List villain territory, I felt he could have the biggest voyage to become an arch-enemy that Alan CAN'T ignore in general.
You guys are welcome to take all that as you will, and make up your own ideas on how things will turn out for them. See you later!

Spider-Man Into / Across The Spiderverse Gwen Stacy Headcanons!
Note(s): This is a complete projection on my part, if you disagree then you do you
Tumblr media
Gwen in my head is transgender, mainly because I dislike the Gwen's Peter Parker is transgender headcanon as it's only basis is 'skinny boy is bullied so must be trans', despite the fact that every single Peter Parker was bullied and skinny before the spider bite?*
Gwen doesn't like many holidays, especially birthdays, she's just never been much of a fan because of the pressure to love and accept every gift given even if it's something she hates.
She gets along with Spiderbyte really well, they both like video games and have frequent gaming sessions even though Margo is way better than her at them.
She's not Christian but she still prays every dinner with her dad, it's just something that brings them closer together.
Sometimes when drumming Gwen gets too into her feelings, forgets she has super strength, and completely breaks the drum kit. This happens so often people think she's too destructive to be in their bands, she's unfortunately well known after a leaked video of her completely demolishing a drum set.
When she was younger she had a very promising ballet and modeling career, she was even about to get professional jobs, but then the spider bite happened and she had to quit. Sometimes, Gwen wishes she didn't, because she really enjoyed and still enjoys both of them.
Gwen hates visiting the spider HQ because most of them have lost a Gwen Stacy, she doesn't feel like herself when speaking to most Peter's and avoids a lot of them. Not only that, but she can't speak to most Peter's because she lost hers, most spiders can't relate to that, and she's only been able to bond with Miles over it.
Her dad is on the fence with Hobie, as much as he agrees that the system is corrupt, heck he even left because of how much it negatively affected his relationship with his daughter, he also feels that Hobie is too 'radical' in his beliefs. Gwen disagrees heavily and this spawns some arguments between them.
Her dad thinks Miles is great for her, him and Jefferson are sort of friends and chat over barbeque, he also has a tense friendship with Rio and they talk about Gwen a lot, for the better or worse.
Gwen really wanted to impress Miles' parents and tried to learn Spanish to do so, her pronunciation was way off and her sentences were all over the place, Rio may or may not like her less after that.
She's never had many friends besides the Spiders and Peter, so she struggles a lot with speaking to anybody's parents or functioning properly in other people's houses, she's more used to people at her house.
Peter used to stay at her place almost every night and she misses having him at her house, she always stays at Margo, Pavitr, Hobie or Miles' house, and vice versa.
She collects pins, random ones, pretty much any that look pretty. She has an 'i eat kids' one with bibble from the Barbie fairy movie on it, she wears it to family gatherings and her dad side eyes it constantly.
Gwen isn't too good at art, she's horrible at anatomy and the only reason she wants to learn is so her and Miles can spend more time together.
She really likes the taste of some spicy food, but can't handle the heat. The aftertaste is always supreme but she turns into a tomato after one bite and coughs if she eats any more.
Gwen looks up to the MJ of Peter B Parkers universe, she also likes to babysit Mayday even if it always ends in total chaos.
*I don't hate thinking Peter is trans in general, heck I think he's trans in all universes, I only have a problem when people get annoyed at the headcanon of Spider-Man Peter and in general Gwen being trans, and are only fine if it's Spider-Gwen's Peter because he's dead.

Idk if this is controverisal since spiderverse is so popular but i hate gwen stacy and miles morales as a couple it just gives me the ick, in my head she's peter's age when they meet in college, i dont mind a high school aged gwen but not with miles. I just dont like them romantically not even in spiderverse which is probably where its done best i just wish they had it platonic. No hate if you like them though, I'm not saying its wrong it just gives ME the ick.
I will admit that peter and gwen is my favourite spidey couple and i would love to see a universe where they dont fucking kill her and they get to be together, especially since they keep fucking with peter and mj. And for miles i would like to see him get his own unique love interest developed cause i cant think of any others i know there are some but i cant remember them and if you google it gwens the only thing that comes up really. Which is sad because I'm pretty sure they were all woc. The only names i can find are phin and hailey and they were from the game. If anyone knows other ones from the comics please tell me cause i want to know this is driving me insane.

I wish we could’ve been an exception
Miles Morales x Gwen Stacy
scene of Miles ripping Gwens web when he was getting chased, but make it more angsty
includes ✧ angst
atsv spoilers!
Tumblr media
🕸 ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ 🕸 ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩🕸 ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ 🕸 ⋆。°
Too much was running through his mind right now. And him, literally. Miles was currently getting chased by all the Spider people in the HQ. Once he heard that his dad was going to die, he knew he had to get back to his universe , he had to save his dad.
He couldn’t trust anyone anymore, not even Gwen. He thought she came back because she missed him, because she wanted to see him again. He thought she came on her own will. His heart wrenched, he wanted things to work out between them, but he should’ve know, he should’ve listened to her. ‘In every other universe, it doesn’t work out.’ They weren’t even from the same universe , such a fool he was.
Despite all of that, he couldn’t flood his mind with his thoughts, not now. He had to find a way to get all of the Spider people off of him and find his way back to the “Go home machine.”
.
.
“GAHHH” Miles screamed after jumping through the window, still being chased by Miguel. “Stop running!” Miguel shouted, on miles tail. He would stop at nothing to make sure Miles didn’t get away. “Then stop chasing me!” “You’re so frustrating!”
“I know he’s your friend, but it’s the only way!” Jess said to Gwen, both after Miles. “But my gut says-” “Then use your head.” Jess cut her off, before speeding off. Gwen knew she fucked up, she knew Miles won’t forgive her after this. She really did miss him, she really wanted them to work, but with all of this Spider-Verse stuff, it just wasn’t the right time.
She saw him getting roughed up by Miguel and Jess, and took it as her chance to catch up to him. Using her webs to web his chest, they make eye contact. The tension is thick, but despite that miles brings his hands up to rip her web off of him. “Wait! Miles, please-” She huffed, attempting to catch her breath. “Wait for what Gwen?! I’ve heard and seen enough, I don’t have time for this. Are you here to stop me from saving my dad too?!” He yelled. This made her eyes widen. She’d never seen him like this, and to think she’s the reason for it? It broke her. “Listen I know what it seems like, and I’m sorry, but I just..I just couldn’t tell you.” She had a look of genuineness and sorrow on her face, it almost made Miles give in to her, almost.
“..Why’d you lead me on like this? I thought you missed me, I thought you came to see what I was up to in life, but no. You came only to catch the spot and then leave.” His face scrunched, he was a second away from ripping the web. “I did miss you! After joining the Spider-Society and learning I could see you again, all that was on my mind was you.” Miles eyes widen, listening as she continued to spill her heart. “In every other universe, Gwen Stacy falls for Spider Man. And in every other universe, it doesn’t work out. Miles, I wish we could’ve been an exception.”
He’s frozen. Did she technically just confess? Oh how much he just wants to scream out “We can be,” but he can’t bring himself to, not now.
“Go find your dad, miles.” With that, she releases him, watching him web away. Before she’s out of his view, he turns around to look at her, wondering if that’ll be the last time. He knows that he told himself he couldn’t trust her, he knows that he should be focusing on the task at hand, and he knows all what he just told himself. But you know Miles, can never take no for an answer. Not even when it comes to himself.
.
.
“I can do all.”
.
.
He was about to save all universes, save his dad, and save his relationship with Gwen.
🕸 ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ 🕸 ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩🕸 ⋆。°✩ ⋆。°✩ 🕸 ⋆。°
lol I know it isn’t possible for them to do all that when like hundreds of spider people r chasing him but let’s just pretend..

Top 7 Things I Enjoyed in 2023: Number 0
Working with children has been a constant reminder of my mortality. This upcoming June will mark ten years since graduating high school. I don't know that I'd imagine doing even a fraction of what I'm doing now. I didn't know about Fairy Tail. Writing as much as I have about anything would have seemed insane.
Other things were different then. A decade ago, Cartoon Network was still trying to make live-action shows. I didn't hate all of them. One of my favorites was Incredible Crew, which was their attempt at All That. The cast included Jeremy Shada, who voiced Finn from Adventure Time, and some guy named Shamiek Moore. He had some of the crazier roles in skits and he grew on me. And it's always great to see more black actors doing well.
We were also getting ready for the Lego Movie. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were directing a movie that we all thought was going to be a massive sell-out film. In reality, people were slightly disappointed it didn't get more respect. Honestly, it might have deserved an Oscar nod for best song. Even rewatching it recently this year, it's impressive how much was able to be done with the medium.
I wonder what they're all up to now…
Number 0 - Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Tumblr media
Apologies to Scott Pilgrim, but this wasn't a competition.
Almost the instant I left the theater watching this, I knew this film wasn't just the best thing I experienced this year. It might be one of the best superhero movies of all time. Not just for kids, or Marvel, or Spiderman, or whatever time limit you want to put to it. If the competition between the prequel and Endgame was close, this blew the comparison out of the water. Aside from the Guardians movie I've yet to see, it doesn't even sound like there was much competition this year.
We live in a world where so many properties are trying to handle a multiverse, in no small part because of the original. With a few exceptions, the experiments with the concept have yet to yield great results. Many studios have forgotten the lesson taught by Marvel Studios: get audiences to care about and connect with as few characters as you can reasonably develop at a time. Once that’s done, we can start caring about others as the universe is built.
A big focus of this film is Gwen Stacy. Rewatching the original film, I came to appreciate her version of Spider-Woman a lot more than the first time I saw the film. With one clever retcon, we got to focus on her more than before. She wishes for people she can open up to without the fear that it won’t end well.
However, we never lose focus on Spider-Man himself in all of this. Miles is coming to grips with the fact that, in his universe, he doesn’t feel like he belongs. A lot of people around me have noted that he’s giving up his artistic skills to study physics, just so he can be with his friends. All things considered, that doesn’t seem necessary. (From experience, that would be a depressing life to lead.) His journey is finding security in his own identity, both as Miles Morales and Spider-Man.
These are the kind of superhero stories we’ve come to know and love over the years. Even after watching this movie once, I was impressed with how much was packed into the film on repeat watches and discussions with other fans. Some things I picked up on, but other things needed to be pointed out to me. The same can be said about the original, but this film feels like everyone involved knows what they’re capable of and is actively pushing their boundaries.
I am not expecting Beyond the Spider-Verse to come out next year. I didn’t believe it would come out on time when I saw the planned release date, and other news made that seem less likely. However, with as many questions and lines this film has set up for the future, it shouldn’t come as a shock to see that film top the list the year it comes out as well.
For now, Across the Spiderverse stands as the undisputed best thing I enjoyed in 2023.

Hi Mei, so i got a question on previous ask i asked ehich where your favorite characters in fiction but do you have a favorite antogonist/villian? In my case same as before i got a 10 top along with honorable mentions
1. Joker (DC comics)-The clown prince of crime and arch nemesis of Batman. One of the most iconic villains of the DC universe and for good reasons. He killed the second robin aka Jason Todd by beating him with a crowbar after luring him an abandon warehouse. After he qas done he set bombs to make sure the job was done. Paralized Batgirl by shooting her. The fact that Joker doesn't have superpower is crazy considering he killed millions. One of the things i find scary about him is his insanity. He does these thing because he thinks it's funny and that life is a joke. He also doesn't have a definiteve origin story the closest thing we have of his backstory is Batman: The killing joke. Fun fact the injustice universe in a world where superman turned evil was basically the Joker's fault. He tricked superman into killing is wife and unborn child.
2. Green Goblin (Marvel Comics)‐ The amount of thing he has done to make Spider-man life as miserable as possible is insane. Norman Osborn the first Green Goblin was the one who threw Gwen Stacy of the bridge. This cause the death of one of Peter's life interest something that messed him up badly.
3. Lex Luthor (DC comics)- Superman's worse enemy. Funny enough one of the reason why Lex hate superman soo much is because he doesn't want humanity to rely too much on him because he thinks it will make them weak. Intelligent, caculating and ruthless he is dangerous to no end and the fact he is one of the smartest character in the DC universe adds danger.
4. Michael Myers (Halloween franchise)- The big bad and iconic horror character. I find him terrifying for one fact only. He is Pure evil and silent. This was stated a number of times during the halloween franchise. He is silent never once spoken and he kills for no reason.
5. Freddy Krueger (A nightmare on Elm street)- the dream demon of the nightmare on elm street series. He is sadistic, powerful and inevitable in some ways. He hunts his victim on dream and if you die on the dream is game over on real life. The fact that he proyect your worse nightmare and takes pleasure in it makes it worse.
6. Jason Voorhees (The friday 13th franchise)- Another silent killer and Iconic figure in the horror genre. To an ugly bullied kid to a silent vengeful murder. He stalks and ends his victim especially if they set foot on camp cristal lake. Unlike other killers he doesn't kill animals nor children.
7. Light Yagami (Death Note)- For me Light Yagami is somewhat difficult for me on where should i put him. To a once well intention student to an egomaniac with God complex. At first he had good intentions but the more people he wrote on the death note the more he stray from the way. He even beytrayed the people who helped him the most. In the manga his death was pathetic honestly compared to the anime even the shinigami (Japanese Death God) Ryuk said it.
8. Johan Liebert (Monster)- This man is the definition of a monster. A very cunning manipulator who wishes to be the last person on earth. This quote from him that said "The only thing that humans are equal in is death". One of the episodes he nearly made a child unalive himself but showing him the worse in humanity. Luckly the child was save but the protagonist and another character. But the episode was extremely disturbing and he has no value for life unlike the protagonist.
9. Lord Voldermort aka Tom Riddles (Harry Potter franchise)- This man made te wizard world so afraid that people didn't even want to say his name. Evil, smart and powerful antogonist one that shouldn't be underestimated i find him intriguing especially his background.
10. Darth Sidious(Star Wars)- This man his basically responsible for everything to the clone wars to the near extinction of the jedi. Cold, calculating, sadistic and powerful. He is basically one of the reason why Anakin became Darth Vader and Why Yoda's padawan Count Dooku became evil.
Honorable Mentions
Otto Apocalypse( Honkai Impact 3rd)-One of the most unique villains i came across manipulative and culling. Resposible for a lot of the main cast suffering he is one of the most interesting characters i've seen. Despite everything he is very complex, I personally don't think he wanted Kallen to love him back. I think he wanted her to live since he saw that she was the best of humanity.
Darth Vader (Star Wars)- His presence cause a great deal of intimidation. Ruthless, powerful and Merciless. The Fallen Hero has alot of body count during his time as a Sith Lord.
Megatron (Transformers series)- A miner to a founder of the decepticons. He as the mentality peace through tyrany. One of the big bad of transformers he has even manage to killed Optimus back in the old cartoon movies. Althoug his Idw version he was redemed most version of him are evil and cruel.
Shockwave (Transformers)- this decepticon is a scientist with a cold devotion to logic. Even Megatron is cautious of him as he is one the strongest deception in the series.
Madara Uchiha (Naruto)- He as good intention but poor execution. He is basically the smoke demon on naruto. Fought the entire Shinobi allience and went toe to toe with the first hokage. This man has one of the most iconic quotes of all naruto and i love his character.
Pinhead (Hellraiser)- a demon who find pleasure in pain and nothing else. Sadistic and extremely poweful cenobite (basically demon)
I'm way too much of a scaredy cat to watch horror movies, but knowing that Jason doesn't kill animals instantly makes him my favorite serial killer. Like yes, I hate everybody, but animals? They're just following their instinct and trying to survive! Honestly, I would've put Light here if the way the show ended wasn't so... pathetic. Here are the villains I can think of from the top of my head, though.
Spot (Spiderman ATSV) - He appears to be silly and goofy at the start, but I think he's a really good representation of how heroes unknowingly hurt the very people they were trying to save. He lost his job, his life, and even his face because of what Miles did, even though he was just an innocent bystander. I also really felt it when he said this: "You make your flippy, little sassy jokes, and everyone loves them, but no one knows what it feels like... to be on the other side of them."
HoT Raiden Mei (HI3) - Not sure if she's considered a villain, but an antagonist is defined as someone/something that stops the main character from reaching their goals (Kiana trying to sacrifice herself for the world,) so...
Lament of the Fallen is definitely my favorite Honkai CG. The animation, the music... everything was done perfectly. Kiana was willing to sacrifice herself for the world, and Mei was willing to sacrifice the world for Kiana.
Otto Apocalypse (HI3) - Other than what you said, I think his character shows that no one is perfectly evil or kind. There is bad in the good, as well as there is good in the bad. He performed human experiments for medicine to save more people. Despite having done a lot of horrible things, he was a kind leader and an even kinder grandpa. I too, would also spend 500 years and risk everything in the world and the universe itself to revive a girl that doesn't give a shit about me.
Mei Mei (JJK) - I don't care if she's not a villain, I hate her with my whole being. Sincere and kind people like Nanami always get treated like shit when selfish pricks like her get to enjoy all of the benefits of others' hard work. I can't say much because it'll be a spoiler, but I hate her from the bottom of my heart.
Makima (CSM) - In the end, all she wanted was a family to call her own.

NOAHHHH HEY COMING TO SAY ILY <333
also this is very late now but atsv is sooooooooo. give me ur thoughts on each character (if u so wish) and/or a fave scene hehe
bro i'm so excited to rewatch w my friend on sat but for some reason movie tickets aren't out for sat it's only up to friday?? which. idk if they'll release it later of they're just stopping screening it lolol
byeee <33
HIII CAT ILY TOO <333
also oh em gee i'm going to see it again on saturday too haha!! hope it works out for you!
anyways my thoughts on the characters!!
miles is and always will be one of my favourite characters of all time. he's the best. i love his big, big heart, i love how much he always wants to do the right thing, i love how hard he's trying to juggle everything and make everyone happy. also he needs a big hug
i don't think i need to say it, but i love gwen stacy, she's everything to me. i love how tragic her backstory is, i love her constant defiance of canon events, i love how she's finally coming to accept that she needs friends. also her universe is hands down the prettiest and her theme was literally the best part of the score it's so >>>>> also trans gwen stacy means the world to me and i love how much the fandom has latched onto it. you don't see that often for trans women headcanons!!
another obvious thing, hobie brown wins new character of the movie award for me. his dry sense of humour and anti-establishment talk have ofc captured me. british punk spider-man ftw. also love it for him that he won't hate on a 15 year old just because some guy tells him to
also idk if this is an unpopular opinion but pavitr as a pre-anything bad happening spider-man is just so good. rlly curious what they're gonna do with him. personally i'd love it if nothing bad happens to him ever and he just stays like that. unbothered. moisturised. happy. in his lane. focused. flourishing
i'd also love to see more of margo!! we've seen her for like a minute tops but i rlly think she's got potential, she seems cool. but yeah, since she's already on the squad i'm sure we'll see more of her
also quick shoutout to peter b for being peter b, mayday for being the cutest toddler on the planet, rio for being a wonderful mum and jess for being an absolute icon and, dare i say it, a milf
no shoutout to miguel for having beef with a child. literally what is wrong with him. love it for the fandom that they find him hot, he's whatever to me. do love that there's a theme w the villains in these movies losing their families tho. rlly emphasises that family is a focal point of them
another shoutout to the spot for trying to be the ultimate bad guy and still being overshadowed by vampire spider-man. what a pathetic man and also i hope he doesn't destroy the entire universe
also i don't rlly have a favourite scene bc this entire movie is my favourite scene but the whole part where the spider-people are chasing miles had me sitting w my jaw on the floor it's s just. so stunning

Not in the Cards
Tumblr media
After the events of No Way Home, Peter 2 returns back to his own universe, meditating on what Peter 1 told him. (And yes, No Way Home brought back my obsession for Andrew Garfield)
“I lost...I lost Gwen.”
Peter Parker sat at the top of the Empire State Building, mask in his hand, the cool night air whipping through brown hair. It had been over a month since the phenomenon of the multiverse was unraveled. Everyone had returned to their own separate universe and timeline, something which he still found hard to wrap his mind around. New York was exactly how he had left it; Dr. Connors still in prison and Max declared dead. That’s where it got confusing though, didn’t they cure everyone before they returned to their timeline? Did that mean other variants of these people were still alive somehow? After all, if the multiverse was possible, then anything was.
“Gwen, she…she was my MJ.”
It had been seven years since Gwen Stacy’s death, but every minute detail was destined to be forever embedded in Peter’s mind. The sound of the web snapping rang in his ears, the glistening tears in her eyes a constant reminder of how much trust she had placed in him, the sickening thud of her head hitting the concrete; all these things were a constant reminder of how he had failed to protect her. He had promised her father he’d stay away from Gwen in order to keep her safe, but in his own selfishness he had broken his last dying wish, ultimately killing the captain’s daughter as well.
“I couldn't save her. I'm never gonna be able to forgive myself for that.”
Many nights he spent reliving the nightmare in his head, watching it as if in slow-motion. The web grabbing her waist, the short feeling of relief rushing over him, then the gut-wrenching sound of her neck and spine undoubtedly snapping, her head soon hitting the ground. It wasn’t the head trauma that had killed Gwen, it was him. He had killed her, snapped her neck, rendering her dead before she even touched the ground. It was his fault she had died.
“But I carried on. Tried to...tried to keep going. Tried to keep being the...... friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, because I know that's what she would have wanted.”
Peter hadn’t expected for it to end this way, in his head he was still imagining him and Gwen living a happily ever after together. How could he bring himself to save others when he couldn’t even save the love of his life? It was another one of life’s cruel jokes, as if Fate himself was mocking him.
“But...at some point, I just...I stopped pulling my punches. I got rageful. I got bitter.”
After a while he found it harder to show mercy, his self-control snapping more and more often. It was easy to punish those in the wrong, to give them what they deserved, it felt good to strip the life from their very bones. For a time he had simply gone crazy, blood lust going to his head, he grew ruthless, wanting the guilty to suffer.
“I just don't want you, to end up like...like me.”
It grew almost impossible to reign in his emotions, to see through the red lenses that had become his vision. The children on the streets who always cheered for him started to grow afraid, not knowing if Spiderman was actually protecting them. He had become a monster, the citizens no longer felt safe in New York. The realization of what he had become suddenly shocked him into reality. It had been hard to get his life together, to reign in his emotions, but he had succeeded, triumphed.
“You have someone?”
“No. I got no time for Peter Parker stuff. You know?”
Deep down he knew that wasn’t the actual truth, he had plenty of time being a twenty-four-yr-old photographer. The actual truth was that the thought of falling in love and losing someone again scared the absolute crap out of him. He didn’t think he could handle the reality of having his heart ripped out once more.
“I guess it's just not in the cards for guys like us.”
Heroes never got the girl, and even if they did, it rarely worked out or lasted. Whether it was a breakup or death, hearts still shattered and there was no way to numb the pain.
“Well…I wouldn't give up. Took a while, but...we made it work.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He knew the older and wiser version of himself meant it to be encouraging, but somehow all it managed to do was dishearten him. The older and wiser Peter had been successful in his relationship, he and his MJ, Gwen, had made it work.
He watched as MJ fell from the Statue of Liberty, the wind whipping through her hair, the panic in her eyes evident, but no sound came out. He faintly registered himself saying No as he lept after her, Not Again.
In that moment he had redeemed himself, he was able to spare his younger version the pain that came from losing a soulmate.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m okay. Are you?”
Peter had been too speechless to answer, too overcome with emotion to form words, all he could do was nod his head, desperately trying to hold back his tears. He had saved MJ the way he should have saved Gwen. He had learned from his past mistake, he had caught her in his arms. Was this what redemption felt like?
Maybe it’s time to date again, to look for someone new. It had been seven years since Gwen’s death, she would have wanted him to move on, right?
That thought still stabbed him in the gut, chest heaving with pain at the very idea. It felt like betraying her, letting her die all over again. If she couldn’t be with him physically, the least he could do was preserve the memory of her in his heart, right? He shook his head, Gwen wouldn’t have agreed with that, she would have wanted him to go on with his life. She’d want him to be happy. He owed it to her to oblige her wishes, he needed to move on, he was GOING to move on. Peter sighed as he stood up, stretching his limbs in front of him, it was time to patrol the streets again.
Hey lovelies! Leave reviews for a part 2? Thanks for reading! :)

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
When Columbia and Sony Pictures Animation released Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in late 2018, the film’s daring visual style brought the art of a comic book to life. For a major American studio that had arguably the thinnest track record in terms of animated features and shorts (yes, I am counting Columbia’s association with UPA), it was a stunning achievement. And it appears its visual influence is only beginning to ripple across cinema, if The Mitchells vs. the Machines (2021) and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) are any indication. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse cannot hope to match the first impressions of five years ago, but what a hell of an impression it leaves. Visually, it exceeds its predecessor, but, due to the necessity of its heavily expository multiverse-based screenplay (this film is first part of two), it is the weaker of the extant Miles Morales Spider-Verse movies. When considering the bar set by the previous film, ATSV remains one of the finest superhero films ever made.
Sixteen months after the events of ITSV, Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) must contend with the situation that she must keep secret her Spider-Woman identity while her policeman father (Shea Whigham) hunts Spider-Woman down. An incident concerning a villain from a different universe introduces her to the Spider-Society – a group of Spider-People from thousands of universes who assist each other, as well as maintaining the space-time order of their respective universes. Earth-1610 is Miles Morales’ (Shameik Moore) world. There, Miles is still pining for Gwen, as the college admissions process draws near and his parents, concerned about his grades, ask for a conference with the counselor. But the mysterious appearance of The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) seems to be Miles’ more immediate concern. Gwen arrives on Earth-1610 not necessarily to see Miles, but to monitor the Spot’s movements. Miles, not invited to the Spider-Society, falls into the group and learns more about “canon events” and the manner in which he became Spider-Man.
Brian Tyree Henry and Luna Lauren Vélez reprise their roles of Miles’ parents, as does Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker. Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, and Oscar Isaac play other prominent Spider-People in this film. The cameos from across Spider-Man media are too numerous to list here.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (2009’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 2014’s The Lego Movie) and Dave Callaham’s (2010’s The Expendables, 2020’s Wonder Woman 1984) screenplay is hamstrung by the very fact that this film has no resolution. Because this is by design, I will hold most of my fire. However, the pile-up of subplots – Gwen’s relationship with her father, Miles’ relationship with his parents and him missing his late uncle, his developing relationships with the other Spider-People, a reveal that throws into question Miles’ self-belief he is a worthy Spider-Person, Peter B. Parker’s newfound fatherhood and relationship with Mary Jane Watson, tensions between the leader of the Spider-Society and Gwen, etc. – is overflowing, uncontainable, and impossible to treat each one with the developmental (because I understand that not all of these can be resolved yet) respect they deserve. The appeal of Spider-Man is rooted deeply in the ordinariness and day-to-day struggles of whoever dons the suit. Not the spider powers, not the villains, not the multiverse shenanigans, not the humor (of which there is plenty, don’t worry). Those multiverse shenanigans overshadow most of the movie. Only during Gwen’s scenes with her father (ATSV’s strongest moments) and Miles at the very beginning and in the closing chapters of this film does the viewer ever feel the pull of those central Spider-Man themes.
Miles, this series’ primary star, must reckon with the realization that his becoming Spider-Man was a multiverse-related accident, rather than what constitutes as the “normal” way to become Spider-Man – you know, being bit by a spider that came from your universe instead. Through Miles, Lord, Miller, and Callaham are clearly attempting to establish a message that one should reject determinism and wrest control of one’s future for themselves. For me, the execution of that messaging relies too heavily on the metatextual elements related to Spider-Man lore to be as resonant in the first movie, when Miles was addressing more grounded personal problems. But Shameik Moore mostly sells Miles’ doubts in another solid voice acting turn, especially when confronted with the most disapproving of the Spider-People.
Far more effective are Gwen’s troubles with her police captain father. In their universe, her father is undertaking a zealous campaign to find and bring Spider-Woman to justice in the belief that Spider-Woman murdered Gwen’s friend, Peter Parker. Meanwhile, Gwen – living a sort of second life she hides from her father, is beginning to become more emotionally distant from him, and (like Miles) is having difficulty finding a place in her world. The tension-filled scenes between daughter and father, recalling the first issues of the Spider-Gwen series, raise the questions of morality and responsibility that Spider-Man lore is known for. As such, they are the emotional highlights of ATSV – lifting Gwen almost to a co-lead in this movie, and enlivening her storyline beyond her infamous and still-controversial deaths in the mainline Spider-Man comic series and The Amazing Spider-Man film series (2012-2014).
The cutting-edge animation of 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse was breathtaking. For Across the Spider-Verse, the variety of styles somehow make the preceding film look safe by comparison. The multiplicity of styles in ATSV truly allows the viewer to inhabit the idea of a multiverse – better than any multiverse-centric offering Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has to offer, and perhaps more convincingly than The Daniels’ Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022; although that movie worked wonders on a fraction of ATSV’s budget). The company logos for Sony, Columbia, and Marvel – flickering in stylized fashion and, in Columbia’s case, brief glimpses of older renditions – provide only the first hint of the animated radicalism to come. Like ITSV, ATSV is also a CGI movie that exemplifies a remarkable fidelity to certain aspects of traditional hand-drawn animation – see character designs and movements. Including blink-and-you’ll-miss-it footnotes during bits of unfamiliar dialogue are a cheeky touch. The fluidity and clarity in which characters move through space during action sequences far surpasses the choreographic incoherence that is endemic in recent MCU films. ATSV takes the very best of comic book and graphic novel artistry and translates that beautifully on the big screen.
Let us take the best-case example in the film. As Gwen’s universe contains the most appealing subplot of the film, so too is it the most aesthetically interesting. ATSV may be a computer-animated film, but Gwen’s Earth-65 appears as impressionist brushstrokes. Gwen, her father, and all those who inhabit that Earth, are animated similarly to those in Miles’ universe. The major difference is the backgrounds. With shades, gradients, brushstrokes, dots, and splashes of off-whites, pinks, and blues, the backgrounds change with each cut – reflecting the direction and moods of a conversation or an action scene. As the dramatic intensity of a conversation increases, the more abstract the backgrounds look. These background changes are but a suggestion; Gwen and her father do not see the dazzling colors flying around and behind them. It is thrillingly experimental stuff for a major Hollywood studio animated work.
Some viewers of ATSV have interpreted Gwen’s story as a transgender allegory (at the very least). The presence, above her room’s door head, of a transgender flag reading “protect trans kids” has fueled further speculation – and bans from cinemas in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates – that Gwen herself might be transgender. Her universe is emblazoned with the trans flag colors (the whites/off-whites, pinks, and blues mentioned earlier), and the language she employs in her final conversation with her father in this film almost sounds like a coming out. No matter how one interprets this aspect (and there is nothing in the film to prevent one from interpreting her scenes allegorically or literally), it is the finest reinforcement of one of the film’s central theses: that anyone, regardless of gender identity, race, religion, or sexual orientation can be a Spider-Person.
youtube
Like ITSV, much of ATSV’s soundtrack comprises of numerous hip hop songs that are used not so much to complement what is occurring on-screen, but to instead serve as background vibe noise, lyrics barely discernible. This musical direction goes against my beliefs that original and non-original film music have an expressive power. To mute such music so consistently is to deny an opportunity to enhance the expressivity of both the motion picture and music. It just becomes sonic wallpaper, there only to sell soundtracks and pump up music streaming numbers. Either cut the songs or be more selective of the placement of these non-original songs.
Elsewhere, composer Daniel Pemberton’s (2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E., 2020’s Enola Holmes) score for ITSV was riddled with heavy-handed electronic manipulation and record scratching, with nary any acoustic elements. Pemberton’s background is in avant-garde electronic music. Appropriate, perhaps, for Miles’ Brooklyn soundscape, but it is deeply unpleasant to listen to outside of the film’s context. With the universe-jumping of ATSV, one musical mode cannot serve the entire film. Gwen’s universe opens with understated, ethereal synth in “Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy)”. Unfortunately, the musical ideas of Gwen’s universe are never quoted as wonderfully again. Reintroducing Miles and opening his storyline in ATSV is “My Name Is… Miles Morales”, which utilizes Latin American rhythmic complexities in its unmanipulated percussion – already a notable departure from ITSV – alongside Miles’ three-note motif (“SPI-der-MAN!”) from the first film. The traditional orchestra has a larger presence in ATSV, perhaps due to Pemberton’s success in his predominantly orchestral score to Enola Holmes. “Nueva York Train Chase” is one of the major beneficiaries of that orchestral integration. The cue’s thrilling string runs accompany the action magnificently and, combined with enormous hits in the bass brass in the climactic moments, is one of the best action cues in superhero film scoring in some time. Pemberton still resorts to many of his worst habits in his excessive manipulation, but this is a far better score than ITSV’s.
As this write-up heads towards publication, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) is on strike with the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) perhaps soon to follow. Labor practices in Hollywood are under scrutiny as streaming and artificial intelligence (AI) pose to change how studios make movies. Though Sony Pictures Animation is covered under The Animation Guild (TAG), there are reports that artistic input from co-screenwriters and co-producer Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have engendered an unsustainable and unhealthy working environment. Lord and Miller, in their capacity as producers, have a reputation in the animation industry for coming onboard as producers late in production and forcing animators to partake in wide-ranging changes on complete or near-complete work. Their laborious revisionism, say some of ATSV’s animators, comes without a set artistic vision – it is trial-and-error for the sake of it.
In American animation, considerable artistic changes during production are commonplace, but they often take place early on, most typically during storyboarding. Any changes coming later than the storyboarding stage can be a financial boondoggle for a studio and can result in a chaotic animating process. If these anecdotes are true, Lord and Miller are responsible for the film’s high turnover rates and widespread burnout. This behavior should prove incentive for the artists at Sony Pictures Imageworks – despite sharing a corporate parent with Sony Pictures Animation, Vancouver-based SPI is non-unionized and worked on all the physical animation on ITSV and ATSV – to unionize. Scheduled for a March 2024 release, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, due to the alleged aforementioned issues surrounding Lord and Miller, may not be ready in time for its slated debut.
A thunderbolt of animated innovation, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s true value will be unknown until Beyond the Spider-Verse’s release. Fast-paced and overstuffed to a fault, ATSV might not have the freshness that ITSV brought. But for a major American animated studio in the early 2020s, this is bewilderingly wonderful work. One just wonders what the animators possibly could have left up their sleeves.

Hello! Do you have any Miles Morales fic recs? Either gen or romance works, I just miss the character, but I’ve found it’s especially hard to find any Miles-centric romance fics. Maybe I’m just not looking under the right tags though
No you're looking just fine, there's definitely a long-standing deficit of quality Miles-centric fics be it general or romance. Not that they don't exist, but most writers out there aren't exactly clamoring to write about Spidey the way they do, say, Tim Drake. Or maybe I'm just too picky. Anyway, some of the fics on this list are almost a decade old but the impression they've made on me is timeless.
Following Weblines by Traincat, gen, comicverse, completed // Peter and Miles only got to hang out while Miles was still a timid 13 year old once. This fic amends that a little. It also in my opinion provides a more interesting twist to the question of "Who is 616 Miles Morales" than Spider-Men II.
The Worst Parts by JLMonroe1234, gen, Insomniac-verse, one-shot // Miles trauma. Always good. The bond between him and Peter in the video games is so, so wholesome, like eating your greens, and there's just enough of Miles flailing at the horrors to balance it all out. I don't have much interest in the insomniac-verse as a Miles adaptation, but this didn't disappoint
we'll be doing what we do best (just pretending that we're cool) by subwaycars, gen feat. romance [Miles Morales/Katie Bishop], comicverse, one-shot (unfortunately) // This was published before Miles' time in the Ultimate universe came to a sudden close, and sometimes I honestly wish his comics went something like this instead. It's really good. Katie Bishop isn't a mere bystander to unfortunate circumstances, for one.
the 34th street transfer by funnefatale, romance [Miles Morales/Kamala Khan], comicverse, one-shot // This one isn't Miles-centric, but hey, he's a strong presence in it. Plus, it's Kamiles. We gotta take what we can get. I've always entertained the idea of Miles getting to become a safe space for Kamala to decompress and this doesn't disappoint.
Rendezvous by porygonkin, romance [Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy], comicverse, one-shot // This fic handles the sudden smooshing of 1610 and 616 with more grace than than the ones who actually got paid to do it. But it doesn't end there! Aside from that, this guy wrote the comic Miles/Gwen pairing better than anything in the entirety of Sitting in a Tree. And it makes Miles' time in the Ultimate universe a key plot point, that's always a favorite of mine.
Five Failed Dates and One Successful One by ShannonXL, romance [Miles Morales/Kate Bishop], comicverse, one-shot // Two superheroes scoring a good date is easier said than done. I've always found this one humorous and authentic for two people who've fought aliens.
Platinum by GotLostInTranslation, romance [Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy], spiderverse, one-shot // This author is like, my favorite Spiderverse writer as well as my favorite for this pairing. The prose hits that sweet spot between fluff and miserable pining.
Waiting by Awakening5, romance [Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy], spiderverse, one-shot // This one right here man. The longing, the yearning, the LOVE. This is clearly an author who remembers what it is to be in love as a teen, and there's fake-dating in there for good measure. If I had to pick every line that made an impression I'd have to copy and paste the entire fic.
Across the Spiderverse by JoMo3, romance/gen [Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy], ongoing (surprisingly published two years before the actual film was announced) // This fic is honestly like a comic book, but a good one. Once Miles & Gwen make it official, the progression of their relationship is managed flawlessly with the superhero shenanigans that make their way to the page (screen?). That’s without mentioning the banter.

Into, Across and Beyond! Scripting: A Leader's Doubt
Sometime after More than One Universe and Funkinverse, Gwen Stacy and Gracie were both walking through a dark void, having been summoned there by EV!Sonic.
Gracie: So, what do ya think the blue hedgehog's wanting us for?
Gwen: Maybe to discuss the whole multiverse mumbo-jumbo stuff, I presume. I mean, we've both seen a lot of what it all has to offer, and fought some of the worst out there.
Gracie: True dat. I guess you and me might not be too different after all, huh?
Gwen: Yeah. That's one way to think about it.
They saw EV!Sonic up ahead, looking at many screens and floating panels, with the present (at the time) voyage of Sonic Prime and Shadow Prime in the middle.
Tumblr media
Gwen: Is this your multiverse?
EV!Sonic: Yeah. Quite a crazy concept, isn't it? It's something a good handful of us are aware of and know plenty about, but at the same time... it's something we know frighteningly little of.
Gracie: And that screen closest to us?
EV!Sonic: That's the "Prime" versions of me and Shadow. Essentially the focal point from which our universes, including mine, stemmed from.
Gracie: The Earth-Prime Theory? We don't have that back in my stretch of the multiverse. Then again, likely because "Boyfriend Prime" is consistently disconnected from all of us.
Gwen: And if there was a Spider-Man Prime, like in those comics, I doubt he'd be linked to any of our endeavours. So what did you bring us over for?
EV!Sonic: Well, I... I heard about what happened with those "Societies" in your corners of the multiverse, and that must really suck.
Gwen: It does. I swore my own group against Miguel and his strike force after Miles was the eye-opener I sorely needed.
Gracie: Same thing with me and Salty.
EV!Sonic: Well, I'd been starting up my own Society a few months ago, but I've been aiming to avoid the flaws Miguel and Cam have been doing, as I witnessed before I tried to catch The X before. Thing is...
He sighed in worry, looking towards them with concern.
EV!Sonic: I'm worried that I could screw things up in the long-run, and I don't want to fall into the same trap those two did, or worse. I just want to be a good leader for all these guys and not hold them in one place for so long.
Gwen: I mean, you do have them working part-time, right?
EV!Sonic: Yeah. Three days a week each at maximum, with our busiest being Fridays and Saturdays. And I don't work full-time, either, since we've two leaders.
Gracie: Well, our advice? Have good therapists on standby, treat everyone with utmost respect, don't enforce canon events, and things should be smooth sailing!
Gwen: Mhm. And if members need the rights, they're more than welcome to shuffle away from their work if need be. I mean, you guys in your universes, from what I heard, aren't usually alone in your work, right?
EV!Sonic: Yeah, not usually. We always have friends available to help hold the fort for us if their base heroes are here or helping at other multiverse corners. I mainly called you two here for your input, since I know you both had it horribly in those Societies.
Gwen: Yeah... My father quitting the police force was proof enough that canon events can be averted.
Gracie: Yeah. I guess that served as motivation for Benjamin as well to side with us in stopping The X.
EV!Sonic: Thanks, girls. I really appreciate it.
Gwen: Anytime! Guess we got some good advice out of our experiences. Heh, even though we're not the absolute best at it.
EV!Sonic: Yeah. Since your faction managed to severely weaken The X before, Gracie, I think there might be a chance that my faction's able to apprehend him. At least, with some backup this time.
Gracie: Yeah, good call. Even with me, Salty, XML and Goldie couldn't beat The X all on our own when he was getting stronger. So I wish you guys the best of luck with it.
EV!Sonic: Thanks. I mean, he was based on us, so we know what to expect out of him. You two should head back to your dimensions shortly, though. Your places might need you.
Gwen: Yeah, that's a good call. Let's swing it out of here!
Gwen thwipped a pair of webs to make her leave.
Gracie: So, you hoping to be a better place for Benjamin to work part-time?
EV!Sonic: I am, yeah, considering his ties to someone within the SEGAVerse. Well, see you around, Gracie.
Gracie: See ya! Oh, erm, I didn't catch your name before.
EV!Sonic (with a soft smile): Sonic the Hedgehog. And I'm not the only one.
They shared a nod to each other with respect before Gracie left.

Movie pitch: More Spider-Man movies in the MCU
Ah yes, Spider-Man in the MCU.
Marvel and Sony are right now (by the time I`m writing this) sharing custody of Spider-Man. I don`t know exactly what the deal is that they have made, but from what I understand Sony can make movies that take place in a Marvel universe but they can`t use Spider-Man himself, only charcaters with ties to him. So far very few of their Spider-Manless Spider-Man movies has had any financial or critical success worth bragging about.
And I think some of the problem lies in what I just said: "Spider-Manless Spider-Man movies".
Making a Spider-Man movie without Spider-Man is like making chicken soup without chicken.
I`ve said it before but I can say it again: I wish Sony would just let the rights revert back to Marvel.
I used to think that Sony should have let go of the movie rights after Spider-Man 3, but after seeing Spider-Man: No way home I`d be OK with if they waited with that till after TASM2.
This isn`t really a constructive criticism per se, but more of a movie pitch. "What if the movie rights to Spider-Man had reverted back to Marvel (after TASM2)" and "How would I continue the story from No way home?"
So... if Spidey was a part of the MCU... how would I have continued his story?
I am burdened with glorious SPOILERS for: Spider-Man: Far from home and Spider-Man: No way home
Captain America: Civil War
This is where good ol`Spidey first appeared in the MCU. Not much else to say, moving forward.
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Spidey`s first MCU film where he`s the lead. Here`s where we first meet the Vulture, Shocker and (technically) Scorpion.
(And also the Tinkerer.)
Avengers: Infinity war
Not much to say here, moving on
Avengers: Endgame
Not much to say here either, moving on
Spider-Man meets Venom movie
This movie doesn`t really exist, it`s what wished they had done instead of the Venom solo movie. See my editorial: "Constructive Criticism: 5 MCU movies (and Venom)" for more details.
Spider-Man: Far from home
A small part of me wish that they hadn`t killed Mysterio, but instead saved him for a Sinister Six movie, but still, good movie, not much else to say. Moving on.
Spider-Man: No way home
A little bummed that they killed Aunt May but glad that Andrew Garfield got a second chance. Good movie, not much more to add, moving on.
Spider-Man meets Morbius movie
Just like the Venom movie, also a movie that doesn`t exist. See my editorial: "Constructive criticism: 5 Marvel movies (and more)" for more details.
Here`s where we (In my rewritten version of the movie at least) are introduced to the Rhino.
But I`d like to add a few more things.
1: Peter Parker bumps in to MJ on the subway. He wonders if he should try to get back together with her or continue with the distancing to keep her safe. (Not saying that he has to get back together with her, I just wanted to plant that little dilemma in his head and add a little more plot to the movie.)
2: Peter goes to college now, Someone else who goes to this college is a girl named Gwen Stacy. She thinks Spider-Man is cool and doesn`t believe that he killed Mysterio. She works as a lab assistant to Prof Miles Warren, a biochemistry teacher. He has a crush on Gwen (who in this movie is at least 19 years old, but it`s still creepy) and believes that Spider-Man killed Mysterio.
Spider-Man meets Kraven movie
Another non existing movie.
Prologue: About a month ago. Night: A young woman with brownish hair, about Peter`s age (let`s call her Felicia) stands outside a building. She presses a button on an intercom next to the door.
Distorted male voice through intercom: "Who is it?"
Felicia: "Is this... the Jackal?"
Distorted male voice through intercom: "Who`s asking?"
Felicia: "The Chameleon sent me"
Distorted male voice through intercom: "... Come in."
The door opens and she is let in. It is dark inside, a man emerges from the shadows, it`s Prof: Miles Warren. (He makes extra money doing illegal experiments.)
Prof Miles Warren: "I take it you`re here for your genetic enhancement. Right this way."
He gives her a serum, she is in pain for a few seconds, her hair turns platinum blond, the pain stops. Now she has superpowers: Enhanced speed, agility, durability, reflexes and sense of balance.*
The Present. Day: Spider-Man does his usual thing, doing whatever a spider can, spinning webs, any size, catching thieves just like flies and all that. He swings by an apartment building and gets a feeling that there is something inside that building that he should check out. He goes inside the building and enters an apartment where he meets a woman in her sixties. She wears a blindfold, a dress with a spider motif, is sitting in a wheelchair and drinking some tea.
Madame Web: "Would you like some tea, Peter?"
Peter is of course shocked, no one should know his secret identity after Dr Stange wiped it out of everyone`s memory a few years ago. Madame Web says that she is here to help him. (Her powers are: precognition and telepathy.) She tells him that great challenges are ahead of him. Felicia (now Black Cat) steals some important information and gives it to Chameleon. Her father was a talented cat burglar and she wanted to be just like him. He died and she met Chamelon who taught her a thing or two about stealing and cat burglary. Chameleon has helped his old friend Sergei Kravinoff (AKA: Kraven the Hunter) to travel from Russia to U.S.A. Kraven is a man who loves hunting and challenges, and he wishes to hunt and kill Spider-Man. (Kraven`s powers are: Superhuman strength, speed, durability, agility and reflexes, extended longevity and enhanced senses.
How could he get those powers? Maybe by drinking a version of the potion made from the heart-shaped herb of Wakanda?)
There`s an explosion at Pete`s university, and since Spider-Man is near when it happens people assume it`s his fault. Gwen Stacy is near the explosion, gets serious injuries and is now dying. Prof Miles Warren gives her a serum that saves her life, restores her to full health and... gives her superpowers. (It turns out that a few years ago, Prof Warren did some experiments on spiders. He extracted a serum from one of the spiders, that spider later escaped to the next room: a room filled with high school kids that were there on a study trip. The Spider bit one of the kids and later died.
Yes, in my version Prof Miles Warren created the spider that gave Peter Parker his Spider-Man powers. No, you don`t have to like my ideas.) Miles thinks that Gwen will fall in love with him for saving her life but she doesn`t, to her he`s still a creepy, possessive man. This makes him angry, she leaves him. Warren thinks that she will finally love him if he gets rid of Spider-Man.
Chameleon and Black Cat lures Spidey into a trap where he is forced to fight Kraven. Black Cat has a change of heart and helps Spidey, much to Chameleon`s and Kraven`s anger. Spidey defeats Kraven and lives to fight another day. Black Cat runs away, but not without lifting the lower part of Spidey`s mask and stealing a kiss from him. Kraven wants a rematch, Chameleon promises that he will get one, and this time he will have a couple of friends.
The title of the movie?
How about:
Spider-Man: The Hunted
Spider-Man: Night of the Hunter
or...
Spider-Man: Electric Boogaloo.
Sinister Six movie
Chameleon, disguised as a SHIELD agent, sneaks into a prison for supervillains and frees Morris Bench (AKA: Hydro-Man). (Chameleon is not a fighter, he`s a spy and an infiltrator, and the Sinister Six is always a group of fighters, that`s why I didn`t make him the sixth member of the group.) Since Dr Strange erased everyone`s memory of Spidey`s secret identity in No way home, Adrian Toomes (Vulture) only remembers that Spidey saved his life (back in Spider-Man: Homecoming). This will create conflict between him and the rest of the Six later in the movie. He wants to keep stealing and commit crimes, but he can`t kill Spider-Man. Unlike the rest of the Six, Hydro-Man does not have a history with Spidey, so his motivation isn`t revenge, he just joins the team for the money and the fun. Mac Cargan gets a Scorpion suit from the Tinkerer.
So, that`s the team: Vulture, Shocker, Scorpion, Rhino, Kraven and Hydro-Man. Chameleon watches from the sideline.
Black Cat comes back to help Spidey, much to the anger of Chameleon.
(Madame Web and MJ has a cameo)
I could end my little Spider-Man in the MCU saga with Sinister Six... but I still have an idea for one more movie.
Spider-Man meets Jackal movie
Prof Miles Warren, hellbent on destroying Spidey, comes in contact with Frank Castle (AKA: Punisher) and convinces him to kill Spidey. Punisher`s first assassination attempt fails, as does the second. Spidey manages to convince Punisher that he is not a crook and the two of them join forces to fight the man who hired Punisher: Prof Warren. (There is of course a little friction between the two of them; Punisher thinks that the best way to stop Warren is to kill him, while Spidey is against killing.) Punisher could have a scene where he runs into a pair of cops who looks up to him, he could give them a speech about why they shouldn`t.
Punisher: "You`re cops. You`re supposed to uphold the law. Me? I work outside the law. If you really are cops you should arrest me. If you want to be like me you can`t be cops. Want a costumed crimefighter to look up to? Look at Captain America! Look at Spider-Man!
I´m no hero."
Gwen Stacy returns as Ghost-Spider to help them stop Prof Warren. Prof Warren injects himself with a serum that makes his skin green, his ears pointy and enhances his strength, agility, stamina, durability and reflexes. (He will look similar to the clone version of him from the Clone Saga from the nineties.)
He is now, truly, the Jackal
He fights Punisher, Spidey and Spider-Gwen, is defeated. Spidey, Gwen and Punisher part ways.
Peter bumps into MJ at a coffee shop. I would like to end the movie here and leave it open-ended if the two of them are gonna get back together or not.
Madme Web is also in this movie, Spider-Gwen could visit her in the end, looking for guidance and advise when it comes to Superheroing.
The title of the movie?
How about:
Spider-Man: Loose ends
Spider-Man: Night of the Jackal
or...
Spider-Man: Acoustic Boogaloo.
The End...
However... in the MCU nothing ever ends.
There can of course be more movies. A solo movie (maybe even a trilogy) for Black Cat and a solo movie (maybe even a trilogy) for Ghost-Spider. But it is the end of my movie ideas for the MCU Spider-Man.
I can understand if Tom Holland would want to take a break from playing Spider-Man in the alternate universe where these movie were made since there are eleven of them, it would be pretty tiresome.
That`s why I didn`t include Spidey in my rewrite of Venom: Let there be Carnage. (See "Constructive criticism: 5 Marvel movies (and more")
*Yes, I know, Black Cat is most known for her Tychokinesis; her "bad luck powers", but her powers have varied over the years. At one point she lost her Tychokinesis but gained other powers, and at one point she was completely un-powered. So I decided to do something simple in my (non-existing) movie version. Besides, there`s nothing that says that she can`t get Tychokinesis later.
It is of course very easy for me to write these because I have the luxury of hindsight. And unlike the filmmakers I didn`t have a movie studio full of corporate suits breathing down my neck, focus grouping the movie to death, forcing in unnecessary changes and pressuring me to get it made before a deadline.
Why do I write these?
For several reasons. I`m nitpicky. Sometimes the movies I criticize aren`t bad, I just like my own ideas better. Sometimes the movies I critize are bad. I care about good storytelling and it`s a fun excerize in creativity and script doctoring.
But also because I have a lot of of free time.

Peter Parker did like weddings. He was in love with the idea of other people in love, and to witness such a sacred moment between couples was considered an honor to him. Maybe it was because he wished that he’d get to experience something like that one day. One day, hopefully. It made him smile. Peter was one of those people who had his life extensively planned out — from how many kids he wanted (he even had baby names in the notes app of his phone), if he wanted dogs or cats in the house, what kind of husband and what kind of father he’d be. He had to admit that when he was with Gwen, he imagined that exact life with her. He imagined running away, abandoning New York and the suit for a family. He wanted to settle down in the quiet suburbs, maybe somewhere in Maryland or upstate Maine. Peter had this vision of letting Gwen decorate their little house however she wanted, because frankly he wasn’t the best interior designer. He wanted a big yard and a trampoline, perhaps even a climbing wall. He wanted to wake up next to the blonde-haired girl and not have to worry about Spider-Man.
Yet, the universe always somehow ruined his plans. Peter wasn’t entirely pessimistic, knowing that if he tried hard enough, maybe he’d have that life of his own one day. Just not with Gwen. And that’d be okay with him, because he knew it would be okay with her; there had to be a reason she was present for only a sliver of his life.
For someone who liked being holed up in his apartment and playing video games, Peter found it unlike himself to be hauling luggage into the parking structure below the apartment.
“I’m surprised you even own a car. I never see you take it.” Peter’s voice echoed against the concrete pillars as he threw the bags into your trunk.
“You should be surprised I even have a license.” You grinned, catching his eye in the rear-view mirror before he circled around to the passenger seat. He looked at you nervously, like your words worried him. “Oh, trust me. You’ll be fine, but maybe now’s the time for religion because you’ll be praying once I hit a curb.”
“Wouldn’t it be better if I drove?” Peter gestured to the steering wheel, gandering at how your personality even affected the interior of your vehicle — the Spider-Man themed air freshener that hung down the mirror, the album copies you had inside the dash, the little plush toy that sat in the backseat staring lifelessly at him. Everything was you even in the car and he was basking in it and all its glorified cuteness.
“Is it because I’m a woman?” The question stunned him, and his mouth started moving quicker than his brain, therefore running him speechless. “I’m kidding, Parker. Don’t worry, I won’t be accusing you of misogyny anytime soon.”
He laughed nervously. “Very funny, Y/N.” Peter glanced out the window next to him with wide eyes and a hand through his hair.
This was going to be a long trip.
New York to New Jersey was almost a two hour drive. But with you as the driver, Peter had a feeling that two hours would turn into four. You had stopped at a couple convenience shops already to use the bathroom, returning to the car with a handful of candy and chips that Peter had to restrain himself from eating because he didn’t want to seem rude. You insisted with bright eyes after you’d noticed him staring at the bags and handed him the same brand of granola bar he had offered you previously in his apartment; his eyes never left your face as he took it from you with a smile.
That time, your fingers brushed over his.
The Cure played softly on the radio as you drummed your hands against the steering wheel. You were humming along to the lyrics as you checked your blind spot; in the mirror, you caught Peter’s eyes looking at you.
You bit back a grin, and he noticed.
“I wonder how Webster is doing.” You thought aloud, turning off your signal light.
“Hope he choked on catnip or something.”
“Hey! That’s rude.” You raised your eyebrows at him. You attempted to reach for your slurpee, hands fumbling as you multitasked looking at the highway and finding your drink. “I’m sure Mrs. Rodriguez is pleased with having a feline presence for once instead of those annoying chihuahuas.”
Peter shook his head, raising the plastic slurpee cup to you. He had figured you were going to take it from him, but you simply angled your head and suctioned your lips around the straw, slurping loudly. His eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets at the motion, clearing his throat mousily as he looked out the window once more.
The cityline was pretty, but the reflection of you in the glass sporting a beanie and scarf was even prettier.
Peter found himself laughing more than he had laughed in a while. He hadn’t met someone with such similar humor to him, someone who understood every nerdy reference he made, someone who could catch up with the speed in which his brain worked, someone who matched his level of energy and more.
Not that dating had any correlation towards you — but when Peter first re-introduced himself to the world of dating and dating apps (per Aunt May’s latest obsession to his surprise), he really couldn’t stand it. In every girl he saw, or at least tried to see, he would end up comparing them to Gwen. Even worse, he’d try to find Gwen in them. It wasn’t that he was doing it on purpose, but he wanted to seal the hole in his chest that Gwen had left so suddenly, and each date became harder for his conscience to keep up with.
But now, talking and getting to know more of you, not once did he catch himself trying to find Gwen in the innocence of your smile or the crinkles by your eyes.
Peter saw you.
He didn’t feel the need to compare, instead he wished that he could introduce Gwen to you. He wanted to tell her how amazing it was to hold a conversation with you, how you were so understanding of his loss, how you bickered with him like you’d known him forever. You understood him so well, and it riddled him speechless every time.
“So, just to prepare you, Peter. My extended family is very — very eccentric.”
He snapped his fingers. “Ah, I suppose that’s where you get it from.”
“Peter, seriously, listen to me. They’re a bunch of rich east coast pricks with CEOs for husbands and probably haven’t worked a day in their life. They just reek of privilege and old money. Had it not been for my cousin… and what I owe this family… we wouldn’t be on our way right now.” You exhaled loudly. Peter noted how your knuckles turned white around the steering wheel. “They’re super judgemental, like a bunch of snakes. Don’t be surprised if they say some bullshit about you or bullshit about me. And I don’t know why, but my family has something against Spider-Man, especially my aunt’s boyfriend so please don’t… don’t bring anything up.”
Peter had an inkling that something was horribly suspicious about this extended family of yours. The only people who seemed to hate his identity were criminals and J. Jonah Jameson. Maybe even a couple more people, but a whole family except you? He was already on edge. A privileged family with old money full of nothing but assholes seemed to really fit the description of high-class criminals. Peter groaned internally at his thought process. Was he really labelling your family as criminals right now? On the way for your cousin’s wedding rehearsal and three-course dinner that you graciously invited him to? Did his service as New York’s vigilante influence his mind that much?
However, Peter wanted to be meticulous. He didn’t know what he was walking into but the Spider-Man suit was folded neatly at the bottom of his luggage if anything. At least he’d have eyes on you. Protect you, even though you weren't his responsibility.
“They don’t know you work for the Bugle?”
You shook your head. “You could say I’m the Spider-Man of this family because no one knows what I’m up to and I’d like to keep it that way. We haven’t seen each other in person for years.”
The Spider-Man of this family.
“What do they know, Y/N?”
Peter had realized you’d woven a pretty intricate web of lies for your family. They knew that you lived in Chelsea, when you actually lived in Queens, working a marketing job for a graphic design company that was supposed to be up and coming. They knew that you’d been dating around, and you stressed to Peter that the last time you had talked to them, they assumed you had a boyfriend. You told Peter there was no boyfriend, obviously, and you haven’t even dated anyone in years after Sam — but you were being pressured into “remarrying,” quoting your Aunt Katherine, ‘Boobs eventually get saggier. You’re running out of time.’ Peter could tell how stressful this was for you, and with every approaching mile, he could see the build-up of your anxiety through your rambling.
“Y/N, you’ll be okay. It’s gonna be fine.” Peter comforted you, turning in his seat towards you. “If anything, maybe they’ll end up loving me more than you.”
“By all means, please. Save me from my cursed family.”
“It was my plan all along, you know. Get an invite to your cousin Janice’s wedding, make an interesting impression, then inherit all that money.” He winked with a playful smile. “My plan is finally coming together.”
“Jessica, not Janice. Janice is the sister.” You chuckled, “But there’s really no difference. Both are a bitch.”
You weren’t exaggerating when you said your family was made of generational wealth. The brick-paved driveway was the biggest sign that Peter had drastically underestimated how powerful this family actually was. What kind of people had this kind of money just laying around? There were trimmed hedges and a large tree by the three-arch entrance to the estate, in which a balcony overlooked the cars in the driveway and the tall mermaid fountain in the middle. The grass was extended across the field in acres, while the orange lanterns against the stone pillars illuminated the glossy exterior of your car. Even in the night, the estate was undeniably beautiful — but Peter had a feeling that the residents of this place were not, at least in a character sense.
How come you were living in an eight-story shitty apartment in New York when your family had the means of placing you in this mansion? It intrigued him. But, he doesn’t pry based on the tight clench of your jaw as you eyed him, pulling the handbrake roughly into place.
“Smile and nod, Y/N.” You smoothed down the hairs sticking out at the back of your head in a panic. Peter would’ve found it cute, but you were quite literally having a mental breakdown and flirting would’ve been highly inappropriate of him. “And you,” You faced Peter. “Smile and nod.”
The dimples of his cheeks lit up. “I got it, Y/N.”
“Maybe not like that — Pete, why are you always smiling at me that way?”
The boy shook his head without uttering a word, stretching over the console to run his fingers through the stubborn hair on the top of your head. The gesture was soft, and there was a twinkle in Peter’s brown eyes as he slowly pulled his hand back to look at you, letting it brush against the crook of your neck — as if he didn’t want to stop, as if he wanted to keep running his hands through your hair until it was perfect, just to mess it up in the end and do it over and over again.
Just to touch you.
He looked like sunshine in the darkness of the car and you were bathing in the ardor of his curious gaze.
You couldn’t help but glance at his lips.
“There you go. All better.” He spoke delicately. His voice was just above a whisper. He rubbed his jaw, looking at you intently to gauge your reaction.
“All better.”
Frankly, the thought of seeing your family again made you sick. When your parents had passed, they were at your side for a while — they were supportive and present, and they did what family was supposed to do: care. Until they found out your parents were caught up in some debt situation. They turned their back on you the moment they discovered it, not wanting to burden themselves with the failures of your mother and father even though you as a teenager had nothing to do with it. You weren’t entirely fed with a silver spoon; your parents had settled down for a comfortable and casual life away from the east coast, so you never grew up in the same environment as your other family members. You never understood the Spider-Man discourse amongst your relatives either, debating over dinner about the hero as if he were some New York politician.
You knew your family was carrying a huge secret, but you had no idea what it could be.
Yet, you and your neighbor stood nervously side-by-side on the marble porch. You exchanged a couple nervous looks, hands clasped in front of you. Your breaths were short, and your voice was tight with worry. Your energy was making him anxious.
“Are you sure you rang the doorbell, Peter?”
“Trust me, I rang the doorbell.”
“Is the doorbell working?”
“I don’t know, Y/N. Is this even a doorbell? Do rich people have doorbells?”
“What if it’s not a doorbell?”
“You’re telling me this isn’t a doorbell?”
“Can we stop saying doorbell?” With a groan, Peter pressed the button by the ridiculously large front door. You could hear it chime a soft classical tune from outside the mansion. A mousy squeak left your mouth as you heard voices on the other side. “Yeah, it’s definitely a doorbell.”
“Could you stop talking now?” Peter winced, purposely elbowing you in the hip as the front door opened.
Aunt Katherine stood there, proudly modeling what could’ve been a custom-made dress by the owner of whatever luxury brand she was obsessing over lately. Peter instantly saw through her, especially how her ‘welcoming’ smile didn’t even reach her eyes. She didn’t even try hiding her distaste as she recognized you.
“Y/N! Heavens, you made it!” She laughed fakely, drawing out her words as she moved to embrace you. “And I see you’ve finally brought a guest along. A handsome guest. What a surprise.”
You awkwardly stepped back from her embrace, mirroring the fake smile of your relative. Peter realized you were so used to pretending among these people, and had he not known your hatred for this family, he would’ve believed your smile was incredibly real. Even in the face of backhanded compliments.
“Aunt Kathy, this is my friend from New York…”
Peter extended a hand out.
“Peter. You can just call me — call me Peter. Very nice to meet you, Katherine.” He smiled graciously, and you had to admit he was putting up a pretty good front. “Thank you so much for the invite, we’re honored to be here.”
Like the cougar she was, you recognized your aunt’s mischievous smirk from anywhere.
“Oh, Peter! Please, call me Kathy!” You stifled a laugh behind your hand as she pressed a wet kiss to the brunette’s cheek, completely disregarding his offer for a handshake. Peter’s eyes widened, and he looked over at you with a plea for help.
“Now, now, Aunt Kathy. Let’s not seduce the guests.” You laughed at your own comment, before ushering the two of you inside. “Why don’t you give us a tour?”
Needless to say, neither you or Peter knew why any person would need seven fucking bathrooms. You understood two, or maybe even three, but seven was borderline insane.
Yet, for a mansion with seven bathrooms, it came to a surprise when Aunt Katherine had assigned you and Peter to one shared bedroom.
You immediately refused.
And you couldn’t help but groan at the irony of this entire situation.
Peter, however, took charming and becoming your family’s favorite to a different level.
“Kathy, please, it’s not an issue.” Your neighbor placed a respectable hand on her shoulder, smiling teasingly as you bore holes into him with your stare. “Me and Y/N are… we’re close,” He looked over at you with sincerity, but you mistook it as acting. “So, really it’s not a big deal. I don’t mind if she doesn’t.”
You were close.
That time, you willingly let the grin spread upon your face.
You supposed sharing a room wouldn’t be any different than being next-door neighbors.
Peter hasn’t worn a suit in ages. Formal attire or wearing any kind of shoe other than sneakers was something he never enjoyed; it reminded him of funerals, of the flowers, of the gravestones, and teary goodbyes. The same suit (basically the only one he owned) he wore to Gwen’s wake hung over the standing mirror in the bedroom. His eyes shifted over to your reflection standing in the bathroom, fiddling with the zipper on the side of your dress as you got ready.
As if you knew he was staring, you called out to him. You smoothed down the front of the dress with uncertainty written all over your features. Peter followed you into the bathroom, lazily leaning his head against the doorway as he admired you in the mirror above the sink.
“Is this too much for dinner?”
A little black dress.
“I think it’s perfect.” His eyes shamelessly trailed down the material, all the way to the strappy heels on your feet. “You look perfect, Y/N.”
“Flirt.” You curled a brow at him, gaining confidence in how he tried to cover up checking you out as you strutted out of the bathroom.
“What?”
He couldn’t focus.
“I said, Peter Parker,” You approached him, fixing the collar of his jacket. “You’re a flirt.”
He looked down at the movement, then to you.
“Am I not allowed to compliment a beautiful girl when I see one?”
You laughed almost like you hadn’t believed him.
“Oh, shut up.” You pushed his shoulder.
He rubbed the spot with a lingering smile, fingers ghosting over where you had touched him.
“I’m serious. You look beautiful.”
Your confidence faltered for a moment at the remark, and Peter’s heart swelled at the way you became flustered in front of him.
-
Peter’s face was in pain from fake-smiling by the time you stepped into the rehearsal dinner. He felt like every minute he spent in this goddamn house was similar to a knife twisting into his guts, as if every move he made was being judged and nitpicked, like if he was grinning too much or not enough. He wondered if the guests were judging his choice of casual clothes, or the unruliness of his hair because he hadn’t been to a barber in months. Peter was a simple man, therefore excess and ostentation hadn’t made any sense to him because he naturally didn’t understand the superficial life of luxury. As he looked around the estate, he knew why you felt so out of place. He couldn’t imagine you under layers of pearl necklaces, nor wearing diamonds around your wrists and fingers. He couldn’t picture you in cashmere cardigans or in the tallest of heels, covered in hairspray and expensive fragrance.
Peter liked you just the way he always thought of you: the you that barged into his living room, the you who’d knock on his bedroom wall and fail to knock on his front door. He liked you flustered, he liked you cocky. He liked you in your sloth-themed pajama pants and the oversized shirt that belonged to Sam. He liked your ramblings about Spider-Man as if he was the eight wonder of the world and the you who loved cats to death, especially Webster.
He liked your voice and how the name Peter Parker rolled off your tongue so easily.
Most of all, he liked you on the couch of his apartment, sipping your third cup of coffee while you teased him about his boxers with the biggest smile tugging on your lips; he liked you basking under the sunlight of his window, keenly gazing at him as if you’d known him for centuries.
In every scenario, every universe, every version of yourself that you had shown him — Peter knew he liked you and for once, he didn’t hate the idea.
In the mess of dinner guests, Peter’s hand somehow grasped around yours in an effort to not get lost. At this point, he had already lost track of who you were related to and the names of your relatives. He’d felt himself growing clammy at how the pads of your fingers pressed against his knuckles, especially how you had kept glancing back at him to see if he was still following — as if he’d ever leave your side. The pair of you stopped under the kitchen doorway, allowing you to talk to him freely over the chatter and the soft violin that played in the foyer.
Your hand left his, and he rubbed his fingertips together to savor the warmth your touch had left in his empty palm.
“I’m gonna go talk to some people.” You gestured over your shoulder, biting your lip nervously. “Did you wanna come with me?”
“Oh, I think I’ll just… chill out here. Do your thing, I wouldn't wanna keep you.” He looked around him, holding a glass of champagne that he didn’t intend to drink at all. “I’ll be here until you’re done, Y/N.”
“Are you sure?”
He waved you off with a nod and a smile. You mumbled a meek ‘okay’ at him; Peter watched as you weaved through the dinner guests and disappeared into the living room, leaning back against the doorway.
Peter didn’t know what to do with himself — not because you’d left him alone, but because his self-revelation about liking you was a bit jarring. It scared him as much as it made him excited. He hadn’t liked someone in ages, and even if he did, he was sure that he didn’t like them with the same intensity as he liked you.
He wondered if some part of you felt the same. He wasn’t oblivious to your touches or how you smiled at him, and although he was drunk that night, he remembered the way you looked at him under the stars.
There was a chatter of hushed voices in the kitchen.
“… practically a widow at such a ripe age.”
“I hear she’s brought someone. Boyfriend?”
“No, I doubt it. What kind of man would date a woman with such trauma? Poor girl. Y/N’s beautiful though, glowing. And her guest seems too… refined for someone like her.”
The women laughed.
If your family wanted to act fake, he could also play at that game.
Peter clenched his jaw, the tightness in his fist nearly snapping the stem of his champagne flute in half at the overheard conversation. With a huff, he left to go find you, not even bothering to say ‘excuse me’ as he brushed past mingling people. He panicked when he couldn’t find you at first, checking inside rooms with closed doors and knocking on three of the seven bathrooms until he saw you by the dining room speaking with your cousin Jessica and her fiancée. Peter approached you with a calmer demeanor, setting his untouched champagne on a table before he placed a gentle hand on your upper back.
“Peter.” You jumped at the motion, but he could feel your muscles relax under his touch. “I was just gonna go find you.”
“Sorry, I got antsy.” Peter’s hand dipped a little lower while he whispered, “Forgive me for what I’m about to do.”
The declaration confused you. Your cousin cleared her throat, and the two of you had snapped your heads in the direction of the noise.
“Yes, sorry. Peter, this is Jessica.” He nodded his head, sending a brief smile. “And her fiancée, Issac.” The men shook hands. “Guys, this is Peter. He’s my—“
“I’m Y/N’s boyfriend.”
“Exactly, you’re… huh?”
What?
You glanced at his hand on your waist, just barely touching you. Confused, you looked at him and met his stare. He was up to something and you could see it.
Oh, not this. Absolutely not.
Jessica nudged your arm. “Y/N, you never told us you had a boyfriend!”
I didn’t know either, you thought to yourself. You chuckled weakly, eyeing Peter as you went along with his little act. You pressed yourself further into his side, allowing Peter to tighten his grip on your waist.
“Well, Y/N likes to keep things private.” Peter took the lead, softly digging his nails into your dress so that you’d remember to smile. “Never knew she was so shy about us.”
You spoke with an awkward voice. “Ha, yes! Yes, I do. I definitely do. But, um, he’s here. Peter — my boyfriend. Figured I’d introduce him to some family.” You patted his chest, scrunching your nose up in an effort to appear as convincing as possible. “Just a sweetheart.”
“Well, I’m happy that you’re dating again! Peter, please join us for the rest of the night, we’ll be having dinner soon.” Jessica nodded at both of you, before Issac and her excused themselves to go welcome other guests.
Neither of you spoke, standing there like statues. Peter’s hand rested on your waist, while yours still remained loosely on his chest.
“I’m sorry I did that.” He blubbered profusely, looking down at you apologetically.
“What. The. Fuck.” You turned to him, lowering your tone. You didn’t seem angry, rather just extremely confused. “What was the reason?”
“Everyone in this house is shit-talking you.” He explained with exasperation. “I can’t stand the way they talk about you and — and look at you like you’re some withering plant. I understand if this was an overstep, it’s fine, we can give it up but I figured…” He paused, biting his tongue. “I figured that if we were gonna pretend to like these people then maybe a little more pretending wouldn’t hurt.”
He was right.
“I assume you being my boyfriend is supposed to save me from being an embarrassment.”
He chuckled. “If anything, you’ll probably come out even more as an embarrassment since I’m the boyfriend.”
His hand felt so nice on your body. You smiled at him.
“Come on then, darling, let’s go sit down.”
Peter’s stomach danced at the term. You sighed at him, forcing yourself to leave his grasp. You hated that you had a growing crush on him and it was blooming with every second you spent together. And now, sitting beside him at dinner before tomorrow’s wedding, you were sure nothing could prevent you from falling, especially when he was such a great actor — like playing the role of your boyfriend was meant for him. As if he’d rehearsed this before.
The dinner table was long, decorated with poinsettias in Italian vases and wax candles atop of the embellished runner. He’d been asked questions about your relationship, effortlessly lying about how you’d met and how long you’d been dating. According to him, he worked at a coffee shop by your workplace and you were a regular that came by often. And according to you, you’d been dating for a year.
You hadn’t even known Peter for more than a month and a half.
It had already been the second course, and for some reason, Peter couldn’t stop staring at the empty seat at the head of the table.
He could hear heavy footsteps near the front door, slowly approaching the dining room.
The hairs on his arms stood up and his ears twitched. It was as if the whole room was shaking, and the chandelier above him wobbled.
“Aunt Kathy’s boyfriend is here.” You poked him.
Peter winced at the sudden shot of pain that travelled down his spine; he hesitantly glanced to the head of the table, eyes widening as the empty seat had suddenly been taken.
Oh, fuck.
“Hey, this is Y/N’s new man.” Jessica spoke teasingly through a mouthful of salad. “Peter?”
The boy hadn’t noticed the large hand extended towards him. His knuckles turned white as he gripped the arms of the chair, while his face twisted into a ghostly pale as he gulped audibly. His vision tunneled into blurriness until he registered your voice pulling him into reality.
“Sorry.” Peter trailed off, unable to take his eyes off the arrived guest. “I’m — I’m Peter.” The boy had felt bile building up in his throat. “And you are…?”
He had no means to ask. He knew who this man was.
His hand felt crushed in the suffocating grip.
