Happy birthday!!!! <3 <3 <3
AHHHHH The bOYYYSSS AND THEIR SIGNS AESDFGHFDSA
I assume they got arrested for disorderly conduct. And by "disorderly" I presume Genesis instigating something aggressively reckless and Sephiroth happily going along with it for shits and giggles.

...Turns out the post limit is still a thing that exists and is per account rather than per blog, so if you have two blogs that regularly have a queue of 20+ things a day and also go on a wild reblogging spree, you may run into errors far earlier than you'd expect!!! Whoops.
That said, that was an enjoyable reblogging spree, and an enjoyable liking and reading spree after that.
I'm very fond of the identity issues stuff that comes up in these shifter / doppelganger AUs, from the initial PapChat one, to LeshyLeaf's take on it, to this latest one. Given one of the asks mentioned the earlier duo, I'm assuming the artist knows of them, but this one takes a significantly different approach with the worldbuilding and the changes and I enjoyed it.
The tangle of a hunger-driven shifting entitity taking over the bones and life for its own, only to gain memories and emotions and context and feel guilty and avoidant about what it's done... The need of emotions or souls for food, the simultaneous motivation to stay close to the loved ones while also increasingly doubting their love, being sure they'd turn on him once the truth came out, that tangle of wanting to live and yet wanting to die rather than have them know...
Vampires don't quite get at whatever that is, and I'm not sure what other archetype I could find elsewhere that would, but it scratches some kind of id fic itch very well.
...Ah. lol. I'm realizing I could do an AU not quite that, but hitting some of those emotional beats, with the latest game I am very enthusiastic about - In Stars And Time.
ISAT, full game spoilers (including act 6 secrets)
They don't in ISAT - it's a story that ends mostly happily, after all! We don't know exactly what happens there, other than Loop doing an extremely anime fading away but with the promise to return somehow. They don't, because they've changed but there's essential ways they're still the same person, and all.
... After you fight with Loop, with one or both of the outcomes - I'd have to doublecheck - they mention they wanted to kill Siffrin and take his place.
... But suppose they had? Suppose they had killed Siffrin, and poured their light and night sky essence into the body, using wish craft or healing or something to bring the body back to life but Loop at the wheel.
The others had already seen Siffrin being awkward with guilt/shame and desperate joy over how badly they wanted to be loved and stay with them all. Would Loop's behavior read as more of the same, if sometimes slipping on names, forgetting more things about before the House than expected?
...Would Loop play it off convincingly, but increasingly feel like an intruder, hating themself and withdrawing from the people trying to reach out to [Siffrin]? Would they eventually admit parts of the truth, that Siffrin went back to the tree to find Loop? Would they admit that Loop had always also been Siffrin? Would they imply they'd combined, dodging the truth of the murder thing, and nudge the others to think that's why some things are off?
(Would it actually be that they had in fact combined despite the murder attempt, given the healing to get the body up and at it again? Would it be more self hatred based on misconceptions, like so much of Siffrin's worst narration through the game is?)
(...Well, this is about the fear and expectations of hatred, so probably not, or at least mostly not. The replacing and then feeling trapped with love not meant for them but needing that love to live... That's the tangle of interest, I think.)

I've already complained a lot about the pacing, and how the film suffers because of it. So now I want to switch gears and talk about some of the stuff I did like (it's a long list!). Putting it under a read more, because of spoilers:
Mario being a protective big brother ❤️
Mario calling Luigi "Lu" (it's no "Weegee" or "Weeg", but it's still cute)
"Nothing can hurt us as long as we're together"
The flashback of the baby bros 😭
Luigi being the one to protect Mario at the end
Mario and Luigi's relationship in general is so incredibly sweet and definitely the highlight of the film for me
Peach is a badass, but she's also cute. Which is exactly how I think she should be depicted
Toad is cute and funny, and I wish we could've seen more of his dynamic with Mario and Peach
Mario and Peach's interactions are cute, even if they're rushed
THE MARIO AND LUIGI HUG WJEHEBEJSUUSUDHSHSBSHSHSJSJ IT'S EVEN BETTER THAN THE LM3 HUG I'M 😭 THE FOREHEAD TOUCH AHWEHEHEHDNJE THEY'RE THE BEST SIBLINGS EVER I WOULD DIE FOR THEM
I like Peach's backstory (even if I have a lot of questions about the circumstances surrounding them crowning her princess). I think it's sweet that she became their protector after they raised her. The idea of her possibly being from Mario's world is also very interesting to me. I hope fanfic writers go nuts with that
Mario having daddy issues is kind of a funny concept to me, but also really interesting, and it's something I'd like to see explored more (probably in fanfics)
I love how sweet and supportive their mom is!
Mario and DK's rivalry is fun
CAT MARIO IS SO ADORABLE SJHWHSJJWJJSSJ I LOVE HIM
Luigi 💚 (literally all he has to do is exist and I love him with all my heart and soul)
Lumalee was funny (even if I wish they'd actually done something with the character)
I was disappointed about Peach not actually using the halberd, but she still gets to beat up Bowser, so I'm not complaining too much
Peaches 🍑
The concept of Bowser being able to play piano is something I never realized I needed in my life (definitely need to incorporate it into a future fanfic)
I love the way they incorporated the game mechanics into the worldbuilding. I want to see what they'd do with other stuff, like 1-ups (like we thought we were getting)
The idea of Mario hating mushrooms is funny
Pauline got a cameo at least
The score was great
The DK Rap being included was funny
It's cool to have official versions of Mario's parents (even if they're probably not canon)
Having Charles Martinet voice Mario's dad was a cute touch (and it makes him saying "these are my boys!" at the end really sweet in a meta way)
I actually liked most of the voices. The only one that remotely bothered me was Cranky, because he doesn't sound old enough, but even then I don't really hate it. Yes, I actually came around to Prattio in the end, so fucking sue me (it helps that his performance is better than in the trailers, and you can actually hear the Brooklyn accent now)
The Bowser's Fury theme playing in one part made me so happy because that's one of my favorite Mario games ever
I loved seeing Mario being insecure and scared! It was really refreshing
This might sound weird, but I actually appreciate them not holding back on the violence in some places. The most notable example is during the climax, when Mario is all bruised up from Bowser beating the shit out of him
As I've said before, the animation is absolutely gorgeous. The expressive character animation and the color choices are what really make it shine
The action sequences are so good! Even just Peach doing the training course was mesmerizing
Peach is just...so nice. People were assuming she'd be a stereotypical girlboss that hates men or some crap, but she really isn't. (I never did; I had faith that they'd get her right.) She waits for Mario to complete his training so he can save Luigi, even though there's a looming threat to her kingdom. She lets Mario go with her even though he didn't complete it, and tries to make him feel better about not getting it on the first try. And she's willing to marry someone she hates just to protect her kingdom (and then tricks him and beats him up). I love her 💖
I like how Peach says "my Toads"; it feels like she's saying "my family" (because they are her family, and she'll never let anything happen to them 🩷)
I already mentioned Mario and Luigi's relationship. But one scene that I haven't seen anyone talk about it when they're in Mario's room after their dad rejects him, and Luigi tries to comfort him. Mario is a great brother in this movie, but so is Luigi 💚
As much as I love Mario x Peach, I'm glad they don't try to force the relationship (outside of other characters shipping them, lol). There's not much time for that to happen--partly because of the pacing, but also because they're both focused on stopping Bowser and wouldn't be thinking much about that anyway. I would like to see some romance between them in a potential sequel, but I also want the development of their relationship to feel natural
Mario finding his strength and confidence through his desire to protect the people he cares about 🥰
They did the "So long gay Bowser" tail swing
The character designs are sooooooo good! Mario and Luigi are precious, Peach is pretty, Bowser looks cool, etc. I love how everyone looks! 👌
Luigi's hair 😏
There's probably more I could add here, but I should probably stop before this post becomes ridiculously long lol. Despite the issues I had with this movie, there's still a lot I appreciate about it. And it made me smile and laugh the whole way through, so that makes it good in my book. It's definitely going to be one of my comfort movies from now on.

Heyo ^-^ I hope you're recovering well!
What are the silliest (modern or otherwise) headcanons you have for the deadmen as a group? Shenanigans and such 👀
Howdy and thank you, both for the ask and for the well wishes. I realized just now that I'm not sure if I ever posted about it, but I made a full recovery! Not only that, but during my 3-month check-up my cerebellum looked astoundingly normal, and my headaches have quieted down considerably. I couldn't be happier, I have so much more energy now.
Anyways, onto the shenanigans! If we start with the war-era ones, they absolutely had the most dramatic snowball fights in history. Like they'd go all in on it, cue absolute chaos. Same with water fights. And fallen leaves. And seaweed (my family used to have this game of throwing seaweed at each other on the beach, I highly recommend). If it is non-lethal and can be thrown or splashed, they've probably thrown it at each other. During the war they'd probably have to wear disguises or play characters to stay hidden, both from Mevolent's forces and mortals. Some of them would be better at it than others, namely Larrikin and Erskine. One very silly headcanon I have is that sometimes, if a battle is still going on or they have to clean up after it, but mortals are heading that way, they'll get Anton to pretend to be a ghost. This is a role he plays exceedingly well, especially if he's used the gist. He's quite scary, but in a quiet way, and he has that indescribeable sadness about him that ghosts also harbor. He'll just stand on the road, look haunting and speak vaguely to any passersby so that they turn right back around. I feel like the Sanctuary might have put on plays to boost morale, and the Dead Men would obviously participate when not on a mission. Larrikin and Erskine go full on theatre kid mode to a scary extent. Skulduggery goes theatre kid mode to a less scary but more insufferable degree. Ghastly likes making costumes, Anton and Hopeless also prefer doing backstage stuff. Hopeless makes sure that everything is ready for scene changes, while Anton works the curtains (he also participates in making props!). Dexter and Saracen always ask for minor roles and always have fun doing them. The plays range from pretty good to total disaster, but they are effective in boosting morale.
Then for some not necessarily war-era shenanigans: They keep their habit of throwing stuff at each other (of course they do). Both during the modern era and war era, they'd probably play some music, do pranks, tell stories and get weirdly competitive at sports/board games/ card games. Do NOT give them Monopoly. A common prank they'd do is pile tiny items on top of any unfortunate soul who has passed out or fallen asleep among them. Skulduggery commonly wakes up from meditating with a meticulously built tower of pencils on top of his head. I also feel like they've all done drag at least once. Larrikin's genderfluid so for them it's not always drag, sometimes they present feminine because they identify as feminine, but sometimes they do drag because it's fun and the vibes are different. Out of all of them I think Dexter and Saracen are the most likely to do actual drag shows. Anton wouldn't step foot on a stage but has, on several occasions, donned an Edwardian mourning dress, not to mourn anyone but simply for the vibes. I mean that is peak fashion. When Valkyrie joins the Dead Men they all go either weird (positive) uncle mode, mom friend mode or dad friend mode. In an ideal world I'd like to see her go do fun activities with them. Like bowling! It would end in some sort of minor disaster but it would be fun regardless. Or perhaps a kayak outing, which also ends in a minor disaster but is fun regardless? There is a certain pattern there.

'I'll get fat from eating your black hearts' is honestly not just my favorite Eggman quote, but my favorite villain quote of all time (as well as the quotes that follow after that one that would normally be out of character for a quirky Sonic game like Lost World).
I don't know why that quote's been on my mind lately, but it literally sends chills down my spine. Eggman deserves more moments like that imo
Lost World Eggman is fantastic as a whole, he's beautifully characterized, the most entertaining and well written in the game and steals the show, gave us so many interesting moments and smaller clever details that say a lot about him and capture his feelings and behaviors brilliantly, and I find it one of the most fun to delve into and analyze. It has a special place in my heart 💜
And of course that's one of my favorite scenes ever. I think about it all the time, it brings me as much joy and excitement today as the first day I saw it. I love how he stood up to the D6 fiercely even after they'd taken control of everything he owns, then gave a perfect example of how he's not weak without his creations as he used nothing but his fists to break down that ice wall! 🥰
But while his display of strength is godly to watch, the dialogue itself doesn't get enough focus and appreciation in comparison. They're absolutely epic lines, especially from a game like Lost World. The sudden shift in tone with such raw dark lines from him gives it all the more impact. It's really hard for me to pick favorites but it's definitely up there as some of his absolute best.
Tumblr media
This is such a hardcore comeback, they try insulting him for being fat and he just steps the fuck up and hits back a hundred times harder like "oh yeah? I'll get fat from eating your hearts!" I also love the grabbing of his belly for emphasis as he's not ashamed and owns it. Also I'd like to see him do just that hehe. 💜 Calling them wannabes because they wish they had his power but use his creations is great. That's how he feels about all villains that dare to try to take his place!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Threatening to burn their world, destroy everything they love, and make them watch are some of his darkest and cruelest lines too and it makes me go crazy. I'm OBSESSED with the concept of him doing something deeply evil and abhorrent and devastatingly destructive and forcing people to witness and acknowledge his power and the true messed up shit he's capable of... 🥴 so I appreciate this a lot. They're not empty threats, he could and would do it happily.
Tumblr media
And of course him threatening physical violence people especially after his thrilling display of strength gets me weak 😳💘💕
This is all the kind of stuff I always dream of with him. 😍 I only wish that we could've seen him go through with it but it's fantastic just hearing him threaten it too and how his anger came out in his strength at him take his anger out on and throwing punches at the thing closest to him. The D6 are lucky they weren't actually there because he totally would've done it and enjoyed it and strangled some Zeti after.
And Mike Pollock's delivery makes it all even better as some of his best line reads which is saying a lot. This scene gives me chills every time without fail too. It makes me sad when people entirely dismiss everything about Lost World and say it's forgettable when we got one of the most legendary Eggman scenes. He deserves to be gloriously evil and threatening like this as often as possible because I love it so muuuch it's peak Eggman truly 💘💖💕💗💜

hey I'm from the same system as 🌺, and I wanna add some stuff because unlike her I'm not blind to the abuse.
we are homeschooled so when the verbal abuse happened there wasn't anywhere else to escape to, I remember I used to literally hide behind things when I was younger.
I didn't learn to read until I was 10, and I'm dyslexic and autistic and dyspraxic and dyscalculic. so I absolutely suffered in academics for basically my whole life, my mother used to sit down with me and watch me stare at the work in front of my face and then yell at me because I didn't do it. or I messed up, or any slew of things fuck.
I was undiagnosed for autism for literally most of my life, I only got diagnosed when I was 13-14. so for a long long part of my childhood I was berated, yelled at, given the silent treatment, not comforted when I needed it and other stuff.
this is definitely because of her upbringing, and generational trauma. she's better now, but the damage has been done. and if I ever tried to bring this shit up now she'd just call me a liar, she loves to call me a liar.
after I learned how to read, I basically had to learn how to spell and write myself. I preferred it that way, because every time she try's to teach me stuff it always ended with me crying and her yelling.
oh I didn't even mention all the "talks" she has given me, basically telling me to "shape up, you're not doing anything with your life." when I have no freedoms? the digiverse is my only freedom, has been since I was a kid. I try to talk to her about my interests and she waves me away, though its gotten better. I still am not sure about her claims.
I literally can't go out by myself, I'm 17. I'm literally going to be 18 in a couple months and I've to this day never been on a trip somewhere on my own, I know I'm a bit oblivious at times. but I've always wanted that in my life.
maybe I'll get it now when I go to Tafe in person, and meet people. god I fucking hope.
I went through a lot of medical trauma from being hospitalised as a 6 month old because hot tea spilled on me, to asthma hospitalisations and more.
all under the age of 10 mind you, I've always been the "problem" child. mostly because of all my medical issues, and developmental issues. my addiction to YouTube, and screens in general. is it an addiction when it's literally the only thing that stops me from bursting into tears?
I didn't have friends for most of my life, and the ones I did. I only saw them at most once a week, most of the time it was once or twice a month until they grew tired of me.
I've had nice things, but all I really wanted was someone to listen to me. I used to literally wish everyday for most of my life, its only stopped now because I have AN ACTUAL FRIEND. and I'd kill everyone and then myself for him literally. (I'm referencing a meme)
but I was lonely most of my life, I love my siblings but its just not the same. I couldn't share my thoughts and feelings because they'd just tell mother.
once I had a friend group on this game, Cat game (that's literally what they are called.) and I was happy. a bit stressed because of drama, but it was nice to have someone who listened and cared.
I'm tempted to go back, but I just can't risk it. my family thought they were groomers, those people were more likely to be groomed then be groomers. I'm not dumb, I still feel bad for my abrupt departure.
but at least they know I loved them dearly, if like I mentioned any of my moots. or the fact I talk so outwardly on the internet they'd ban me actually ban me forever. and I can't let go of my one healthy coping mechanism.
I don't think I could ever tell them shit about my mental state, especially after the shit show that was lena trying to get us actual help. I still want to go to therapy and a psychiatrist, but I'm worried I'm just going to be abused verbally and emotionally more.
and right now, it's way less.
if they knew I considered myself trans, or supported nonbinary people or just most of the different gender identities. they'd tell me I'm wrong and they would have seen it, or that nonbinary people are doing it for attention.
why the fuck would I do any of this shit for that? I want your unconditional love, and support for my struggles. not that fake bullshit!
I have problems and I just want to help them, and nothing I do is good enough. I'm this disappointment half the time.
there was this one time. (maybe more) when my little brother was having a meltdown, and screaming. my mother's blood was boiling honestly, and she was yelling at him to "SHUT UP" "STOP CRYING FOR FUCKS SAKE" and such. she threatened to pull over and leave him on the road, a common threat of her's. and when his screams and cries got louder, she pulled over into this parks parking. and told him either he was to "SHUT UP, OR GET OUT." he didn't and he got out of the car, or was taken. either way he was outside of the car, I was crying and telling my mother to "STOP" and let him back in, I was 7-8 when this happened. and he must have been 3-4, and my little brother was crying and crying. and my mother had enough of the insubordination, and started to drive away. I started screaming then to go back for my brother, *I'm not sure which one it was, but it was one of them. and she kept driving, and driving.
I think she circled the block twice before letting my brother back in, but that was traumatic.
this sorta thing was why when I had my first suidal thought it was to open the car door and fall out, because I couldn't TAKE the verbal abuse that happened in the car.
I had depression I think, I had depression for most of my childhood.
but now, I feel happier. not because of anything that's happened in the real life, but the comfort I got from here. the internet.
there's many many more times I could talk about but I'm tired, I'll tell you more later.
but she's not good, I don't know if she's ever realised. but I just cannot be mad.
from me
Pop
That sure was a long story, read it word by word, i definitely relate to the bad treatment and threats i also got from my own mother. Kind of glad you’re still here and had got better, i witnessed a kid being pulled outside the car and even punched.. not lovely.
Anyway, i care to listen in what you have to say next time, i consider myself a great listener if anyone needs to vent too and whatnot,, and come back next time bro.

New RWBY ep (for once not two days behind.) Criticisms and praise below the keep reading
Praise
The theme song is starting to grow on me. It's got a bit of Sonic-vibes? Like Adventure 1 and 2 Crush 40 stuff, which is my business. It's not as good and there's something off about the sound mixing and Casey's vocals could be better, but it's starting to grow on me.
Weiss's reactions to the Red Prince kind of make sense to me lol. She's dealt with pompous rich people her whole life and I feel like both her sense of superiority that we still see at times and her probably projecting Jacques (and to a lesser extent, Whitley) onto this little red prince but with none of the history makes her treating him like an annoying pest at the start very in character.
I'm digging the suspenseful music that plays during the 'describe the rules' and the start of the chess match. And I love the concept of Ruby being forced to play as chessmaster, with the lives of her friends on the line. I also like that a lot of Ruby's soldiers on the board are already beaten up and busted. It gets across that the game isn't necessarily fair early on (which is good because in war and in the war in Remnant, not everything is always going to be 'fair.')
I also like Ruby's worried and panicked expression as she sits at the chessboard. She's treating this seriously.
Tumblr media
Weiss's little bow is so cute.
Tumblr media
Yang's little Sonic the Hedgehog style grin is also cute.
Tumblr media
The animators are doing what they can to carry this volume in terms of facial expressions and getting across emotion when they can. Some of the choices aren't so good, but moments like these are (as far as the animation goes.)
While there are elements of it I don't like just from this brief listen, the OK Goodnight song in this episode sounds like it's pretty good and the kind of song I'd willingly seek out to listen to. That's a great improvement from my complete disinterest and dislike in the majority of the music from the last two seasons where I didn't actually like a single track. Looking forward to hearing more.
I kind of... Dig the cat sometimes? Obviously it's uncreative in its concept and I wish it was more humanoid and just based off of the Chesire Cat instead of actually being a cat and some of its 'random' lines are annoying and stupid, but. There's an element of creepiness to it that I wish they'd done more of, but is nice to see. His "Promises are like birds. They taste great, but always escape." *Leans in super close to Ruby's ear.* "You should go. Before he changes his mind." The voice acting is good, and hopefully after the writers are done trying their hand at humor with the cat, it takes on more elements of the cat from Coraline.
The loud sound effects for things like Ruby landing on the wall are good, they add an element of suspense to an otherwise not very suspenseful moment.
Neo fell like a comet and it looked fucking radical. I don't think she meant to turn into Ruby and Cinder? Or for her semblance to change and provide her with doubles? But I think it's cool. A bit campy, but cool. And I think Neo expressing her rage at Cinder and Ruby both by transforming into them was cool and a good way to establish her current angry mindset.
Criticisms
Yang: "Are we sure we should do this?" Ruby: "The Red King helped Alyx." I sure wish there was a way for us to know the actual story of Alyx In Wonderland in canon because all I know is that Alyx defeated the Red King at a board game, so Ruby being like "he helped her" has me immediately kind of frustrated. I do not know what to anticipate because it's like they're making up the details of this rip off Wonderland book while they're writing each episode. Why couldn't they have said that Alyx 'got help from the red king after defeating him in a board game' last ep?
Immediately no on the Red Prince btw. I know he's meant to be annoying, but I thought I might have a chance to like this character (my history of liking flamboyant posh spoiled rich kids is vast,) and instead he's just another annoying character in a volume filled with annoying characters.
Blake is so... Weird this season. I feel like she's so far removed from who she was in this first five volumes that trying to compare her to Blake of the past is pointless at this time, but she's even more different than ever this season and the "happy birthday" moment really just drives that home. I feel like if I picture Velvet doing everything she does, it makes more sense to me.
Also I'm not saying that Yang and Weiss's attitudes don't make sense, but they really aren't helping anything and I'm getting kind of annoyed with their "I'm too tired for this, I'm pissed off at everything, I'm gonna act like all of this is just too lame for me" kind of behavior. It's not helpful and it's getting boring. Ruby and Blake are at least trying, and the other two can't even be bothered to put on a happy tone for two seconds if it means they might get to go home to help the refugees being attacked by Grimm after suddenly losing everything and getting launched into Vacuo, the place Salem is likely to attack next.
Weiss: "Did I used to be this unbearably pompous?" Maybe not to that extent, Weiss, but you were horrible in other ways, soooo.....
Wait wait wait... So the toy block soldiers get hauled off into the bushes and beheaded, two seconds after them and the red prince were played for comedy by the way, and the reactions from Team RWBY are
Tumblr media
There's no reason for us or Team RWBY to think these block guys aren't sentient feeling people, there's no reason for us to think that they aren't really dead, and Team RWBY just moves on immediately? No 'you can't do that?' No pulling out their weapons? No questioning whether or not they should fight this monster beheading his people for the crime of making something the wrong color (real creative of the rwby writers btw /s.) They just... Move on? No questions asked? God, when did these characters become so... Lifeless? Even if we say they're trying to stay on the red prince's good side, they don't talk about it? They don't have a moment of upset where the hot-headed Yang or the compassionate Ruby or the once-feisty-and-justice-driven Blake or even the so-done-she-can't-manage-a-smile Weiss so much as say "hey" or "what was that for?" Ruby literally said "How could you" when the red prince tossed aside green glass but barely reacts with anger, sadness, or surprise when he kills people? Yeah, I know she has an emotional attachment to that barely used in the show so far weapon because it was Penny's, but it's two people's lives she's pretty much ignoring here.
The Red Prince: *Smirking darkly while pointedly refusing to tell Ruby that no one will be hurt during his game, heavily implying that this game is to the death or at least to the injury.* The music: *Suspenseful and foreboding.* Ruby, in an uncertain and serious tone: "Uh, can you... Advance one space forward, please?" The little pawn on the board:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soooo the pawns aren't taking this seriously, they're taking a swing and then relaxing as they get carried away in stretchers. The stakes for this got lowered by three hundred times and watching it, I no longer felt that much suspense. Sure Blake, Weiss, or Yang might get injured, but they're not going to die or get knocked out for the count in episode three, so I'm not that worried.
But wait, there's no reason to believe the Red Prince's red pawns are evil or non-sentient, and WBY are attacking them with a smile at Ruby's command? Bit weird, right? Why aren't Team RWBY trying to avoid needless harm or at least frowning when they're forced to harm things? Ruby seems to be the only person taking this seriously.
"We want to go home, and we believe the tree can get us there." The suspenseful music stops playing. Ruby's voice changes to a completely different tone as she says "Yang, you're up." Fun music starts up. Yang starts Wreck-It-Ralph-style punching Pawns. All in like two seconds flat. Guys, try to ease into your tone change! It's jarring!
"Blake is a faunus... And the rest of us are human." Guys, I seethe with rage every time the writers of this show act like Blake is a different species of creature than the others rather than a different race of human. Every time they refer to Blake or other Faunus as not human it is literally DEHUMANIZING. They literally will say "Blake is not human" and "Faunus aren't human!"
More angelic imagery with Weiss, which I don't like. How are Team RWBY even kind of struggling with these toy soldiers? By all accounts they seem very weak. And the combat... While it isn't Volume 5 levels of bad, it also just isn't isn't good. Combat in RWBY hasn't been that good since volume three, and it's a real shame. I want to like it, but I just can't. Also even when the pawns seem to be taking this slightly more seriously, I feel like it just isn't well done still.
The moving through the Red Prince's castle is so... No. It's like right out of Phineas and Ferb's Across the 2nd Dimension. I liked when Ruby hit the wall and reacted to that, I think they should've kept that without knocking it up to eleven immediately. And they didn't react to it? Ruby wasn't like "one minute I was on the floor, then I was on the ceiling I think, then it was this twisty ramp and the soldiers were right there but they were on other floors?! Upside down?!" Like, yeah, in the moment, she was just running, there wasn't time to ask questions while she was running, but then she stops running and is like "I didn't beat the chess game :(" When wacky stuff breaks all the rules of the universe they're used to, they should... You know. React to it.
Also
Tumblr media
Ruby's flower petals had barely disappeared by the time the soldiers were walking over the trapdoor, and this looks like a long hall. How did they not see her jump into it?
Also also, why is it that the mice attacked Blake because specifically her ears and only her ears resembled a cat, but Little barely reacts at all to the presence of the Chesire Cat?
The Cat: "Times change, you know. And so do we when it's our time to change... Don't you?" *Ruby and the team get engulfed by a bright light and suddenly find themselves in a clearing outside.* Me: "Wow the cat just teleported them? They're going to take this time - the most obvious time - to ask about the cat's magic or react vocally to the fact that really freaky stuff like instant teleportation or gravity changes is going on or talk about how dangerous it is that WBY are small or ask the cat what the hell he's talking about, or say that all this wackiness being in the Alyx in Wonderland book is something they knew but it's all still really weird for them to go through in real life or something like that." Yang: "There was a Red King!" Blake: "But something's changed since then." That's what... We already knew that, guys! Didn't they already come to that conclusion earlier? Why - what - the dialogue in this season is so badly written.
Weiss: "Great, so we're not in the stupid story after all." Me: "They're going to take this moment - the most obvious moment - to talk about how they probably didn't just blue skadoo into the pages of a book and that this place might be an afterlife or another world and Alyx or the author must've gone through this and gotten back to Remnant and the fairy tale is just based on that story and that it isn't even like the story they know because everything is clearly different and also maybe express concern about the tyrant beheading people considering that there's no reason to think the world they're in is fake or that the stakes don't matter because it isn't just fiction (for them) and they're clearly in a real place where people have real feelings." Weiss: "We're in its stupid sequel." ... Close enough.
Could Little stop being annoying for three seconds? I want to kick this mouse into the sun like it's a little dog named Teacup
Tumblr media
Weiss: "What is the deal with this cat? Can't anyone here be normal?" Blake: "That's not just any cat! When Alyx was lost, she met the Curious Cat who loved to ask questions!" Yang: "And the Curious Cat helped Alyx find the tree!" They're... They're only just now realizing that's the Curious Cat? Guys, if I had gotten transported into a book I'd read enough as a kid or was culturally well known enough that I could recall details about the plot as a nineteen year old, why would I not be able to recognize a character like that? Especially one so fucking iconic looking! This isn't getting transported into Narnia and meeting a little girl and because she looks like any old little girl not realizing right away that it's Lucy Pevensie. This is basically like getting to Narnia and seeing a big old lion breathing life into trees and telling you he's the real king of the whole wood and talking about the deep magic and then ten minutes later being like "Oh shit are you Aslan?" This is quite literally like getting transported into a world like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and seeing a grinning cat gradually disappearing while offering confusing conversation and then ten minutes later being like "Wait that wasn't just any cat, that was the Chesire Cat!" I am reeling.
All in all, this episode was better than the other two, but still really lacking imo. I give it a four out of seven. I didn't laugh once, didn't feel emotional once, but they got a couple of grins and a bit of suspense out of me.

there are definitely flaws with It's All in the Game but the same is true of even a lot of the best loved classic episodes. I personally find Spielberg's episode overrated because it's a bog-standard murder story, it is a good looking episode but the plot is meh and it's full of the worst murder mystery cliches like the insertion of an incompetent blackmailer who invariably becomes another victim -- a cliche repeated throughout the series
personally I rank It's All in the Game up near the best of the classic series. maybe it's not as good as Prescription Murder, Ransom for a Dead Man, Death Lends a Hand, Short Fuse, or Forgotten Lady, but I'd still put it in my top ten for the entire Columbo canon
(most of those listed above have flaws too, everything does, and a lot is personal taste as to which flaws are the worst ones)
I didn't know he had written it in the 70s, but that does explain why it feels so much more like a classic Columbo episode than most of the other revival episodes felt like to me
also I know they're movies not episodes but. hard habit to break tbh
anyway my biggest problem is the way it ends. imo he should've let them both go, the guy they killed was abusing them and threatened to kill one of them, they had no recourse. go to the cops? cops wouldn't have done a thing and the guy would've retaliated violently. and you know there's no way they'd get a fair trial even if they pled self-defense
Columbo to me has always been like... some mythical good cop, the kind that doesn't exist in real life or would get murdered by his fellow cops if he did. he carries no gun, he's compassionate to murderers he meets, he tells suspects to stop talking & get a lawyer... he sets up one of his fellow cops (who outranks him!) to incriminate himself by trying to frame a crook, that can't have made Columbo very popular with his fellow cops
I just felt like when Columbo knew the whole story he should've helped them both. again, it could be worse, he could've arrested both. but even setting aside my personal morality, it'd be so great to see him let a killer go, even if you didn't agree that it was right -- maybe especially if audiences didn't agree it was the right thing to do. idk
anyway I love the Columbo resurgence. I was lucky to see a bunch of episodes in reruns as a kid when my grandparents had satellite TV, so I've been a fan long before he started to get big again on tumblr -- not that it matters or I'm bragging, just giving context to say it's really great to see people watch old stuff and become new fans of it because it's so good
oh yeah, every columbo has its flaws, it's just a matter of personal taste as to which ones are most egregious.
i do think murder by the book is easy to laugh at now as bog-standard and "overrated", but it was truly groundbreaking when it hit TVs. that's really the beauty of it, anyway--columbo needed to start somewhere and establish a formula.
i do agree that the script for it's all in the game being written in the 70s definitely comes through. the episode itself has some 90s cheesiness to it that i don't think it would have had if actually made in the 70s (and i do wish it was), but underneath is a very real and interesting type of story.
i don't think columbo should've let both of them go as i think that'd cross over into going against the heart of his character--he is a "good cop", but no matter how justified they may have been in their act, they've still ended another person's life. the one time he does let a perp go is only because she has a terminal degenerative brain disease and no longer even remembers the murder.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the man isn't judge judy, nor executioner for that matter. he just gathers enough evidence to prove to everyone that you did you what you did
besides which, if lauren staton can afford good lawyers (she can) and provide proof that her ex boyfriend was a two-timing piece of shit who wanted to kill her (she probably can) then she likely wouldn't have ended up serving that much time anyway. i think columbo knew that, too.
more about this and some of the mcgoohan episodes under the cut since this post is already so long....
i'm not sure where i'd rank it, myself. probably not top 10 all time columbos, but i would certainly rank it amongst the originals simply because it dares to push columbo's character in a way that's high quality, believable, and fun to watch, all while retaining his aura of mystery.
it makes me wonder how that episode would've come out if patrick mcgoohan had directed it. i don't always agree with mcgoohan's interpretations of columbo's character, but he dared to innovate and dared to usher the character into new territory with high-quality technique, and i think that alone is commendable. even last salute to the commodore where columbo is clearly stoned is a commendable entry because it's (at least in my eyes) not a failure of an episode, it's a sharp self-parody of the series as a whole.
take by dawn's early light. we're shown his quarters, which is groundbreaking stuff. hell, link & levinson balked at showing columbo's office in earlier seasons, let alone where he's retiring for the evening.
Tumblr media
we may have inferred that columbo would be driven so mad by a case detail that he'd get out of bed in the middle of the night, but we actually get to SEE that here. we get to see him padding around in an undershirt at 3am, kept awake by ballistic detail, then waking up in the morning and washing up. it's not earth-shattering, but it's one of many meaningful peeks into the character's workings hallmarked by the mcgoohan episodes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
plus, i mean. need i say more
in identity crisis, where mcgoohan directs and exerts far greater control over the story, we get to see columbo made really uncomfortable in one of the most masterfully-done cat-and-mouse bouts in the series. agent brenner reads him front to back (NERVOUS? want a CIGAR to CALM DOWN huh lieutenant?? lemme mock you with your wife's favorite song while i take off your protective carapace)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so it makes me wonder how he would've tackled it's all in the game! combined with faye dunaway, i think it would've really elevated things even further. though they were both divas so perhaps the whole thing would've just imploded lmao

sorry @hinako-supremacy it got really long and i realized it needed to be its own post so here's my existential crisis ramble about jazz and pokemon
im listening to Carlos Eiene, aka insaneintherainmusic on yt, and his music makes me so nostalgic. he became popular for doing pokemon jazz covers (and a few other games like undertale) when he was in highschool and college. meanwhile i was in 6th grade when i found his channel and it changed my taste in music and me love swing and jazz to this day. in new years of 2022 he announced that he was gonna quit doing covers (after like 8 years of doing them) since copyright is a pain and he wanted to do his own original music and become a professional game composer too. i was really sad but also soooo proud cuz like??? his stuff is amazing??? and its like watching ur childhood friend fulfill their dreams and its so heartwarming. he released his first full original album and its called '' insane in the rain'', named after his channel asjhkhkdjfhsdakfh. i listened to one of the songs (same name as the album) and its a very uplifting song that really feels kinda like a "we did it. we finally made it and i couldn't be more proud" and when i heard it i wanted to cry dkjshfksdjhfk??? it captured exactly how it felt seeing him move on and realizing how much time had past. i finished middle school and high school and his music helped take me to where i am today. i was proud of him, but i was also proud of myself too!! we've both grown to reach the place we've always wanted to be. pokemon music inspired him to improve his skills and become a professional composer in the exact same way that pokemon inspired me to become both a graphic designer and videogame analyst!! and we couldn't have done it without pokemon!!
anyway i remembered this song this morning. and a few days ago, there was a commemorative video that showcased that we've hit 1000 pokemon!!! i think the two together really made me realize how much pokemon has been in my life. my birthday is in 2 weeks, which will roughly mark around 15 years since i first discovered pokemon. admittedly i was really young but i still remember watching the diamond/pearl anime on tv and being both amazed and confused since i didn't watch the episodes in order. so much has changed since then: ive grown attached to other games, got new hobbies and greatly improved in old ones, ive become a dad (/joking lol), and ive gotten rid of my gender. but nothing really changed at all. playing legends arceus on the switch felt the same as playing leafgreen on my GBA SP (aside from the obvious difference of actually being able to read). the desire to explore the world and catch them all is still there.
sometimes i wish i could meet my past self. i do occasionally wonder what they'd think of me. in highschool i used to think they'd be disappointed, but now? i think they'd like college Sumi. im studying art and videogames!! plus i never let go of who i used to be. i think kindergarten me would be proud, and i think im proud of them too. life is good and, for once, i think everything will be ok :)

naruto for the ask game!
thanks for the ask! hmm...
favourite "male" character: Orochimaru (just putting him here to leave space for Tsunade) One of the first favourite characters I ever had. And the first of many gnc Mad Scientists I've been exposed to. He was actually a positive influence on me regarding queerness when I was young. Even if he is bad representation. Aside from that, I just like that he is a straight up psychopath. As much as Boruto likes to pretend otherwise, there is no way to palliate what he did. He is frightening and cruel but still entertaining. Also one of the most intelligent characters in-universe. I wish we got to see more of his vast knowledge of jutsu. Missed potential.
favourite female character: Tsunade When I say I like the sannin, I'm mostly talking about her and Orochimaru. She has been fucked over by the shinobi system so hard, lost so much, hit rock bottom but in the end she did manage to at least improve a little bit for the future generation. More than many other hokage did. I also like that she straight up left the village and turned her back on being a ninja. It's not weak, after fighting in 2 ww it's her right. Konoha doesn't deserve her.
least favourite character: Hiruzen and Itachi Can't decide on one, so they're both here. Itachi is mostly just shitty writing because Kishimoto couldn't make up his mind if he's supposed to be a misunderstood genius and hero, or an abused child, or a cold ruthless killer. His arrogant attitude just pisses me off. I especially hate his fight against Kabuto. It solidifies that unless you were born into a powerful clan, you can't amount to anything and any struggle is useless. Kabuto basically got brainwashed into accepting that and keeping his head down. Hiruzen has no backbone and is responsible for most bad things that happen in the story. He didn't do anything to stop them. 9-tails? Naruto? Danzo? Shinobi WW 3? And then the narrative turns around and wants me to believe he's just a jlly old man. Nope.
prettiest character: uuh don't know, Orochimaru's hair? There are a bunch of good-looking characters but I wouldn't call them "pretty"
funniest character: Sai. great dick jokes
favourite season: Kakashi Hiden (in the anime, haven't read the light novel). It just shows all the problems with Konoha and the shinobi system so well. Now if only someone had done smth about it...
favourite episode: When Kakashi and Kinoe enter Orochimaru's old hideout. The tension there is really good. And you get a hint at the horrible things that have happened there, but you are left to fill in the blanks of how it got to that point. My favourite kind of horror.
favourite romantic ship: A lot of the stuff I ship doesn't involve romantic feelings but I like Tsunade and Oro as fwb. Like, in the least cishet way possible
favourite family ship: Not sure what this means but the Otogakure hideout in Boruto is horribly dysfunctional while still being endeering in a fucked up way. I want to see more of Mitsuki & Log and the other clones.
favourite friend ship: Orochimaru & Tsunade again? I want to see them work together in the medical field, either before they defected or during Boruto times. They could achieve so much together or have already. I'm sure they'd also really get on each others nerves while working.
worst ship: Any child/adult stuff. I'm not passionate enough about Naruto ships to hate a specific one.

Did you know, when Hopes was just nothing but trailers, I actually thought Dimitri would join forces with Edgeguard. It's going to be up to Claude to save the Church and Fodlan from them. D1m1gard Team Up has so much more build up from the story because they had history. They are stepsiblings! Why the devs didn't take advantage of that, I would never know. Instead of allowing Claude shine, they threw him and Almyra under the bus.
Tbh that's a totally new one I've heard. Most people thought it was going to be a golden route, but I never expected everyone to be on the same side because the devs previously said it would never happen.
The thing is even though Dimtiri cared about Edelgard, I think even that only goes so far (in that he can't agree with what she does). There's definitely more possibility between them that we could've gotten though, but I guess maybe for AG they wanted to focus less on Edelgard since AM did a lot of that and give us more insight into Duscur.
I guess the reason they didn't go so much into Dimitri and Edelgard's relationship is because there isn't too much new content to explore. There are things they could've done with them in the present, but like I said, since they focused a lot of AM on them I can see why there's a change in AG. Also, AG is more fulfilling imo as a character arc in a way?
Even though the war ends in AM, such a huge part of Dimitri's backstory gets left unfinished. Only his relationship with Edelgard gets closure, but there's a such big hole in the overall Lions' story. AG kind of tells the other side of things that we didn't get in AM, so it's kinda like each story had more of one thing than the other and both of them complete the whole story. It's unfortunate that we have to play two different games to get a "complete" story where everything is answered and settled, but I guess combining the two is really the most fulfilling thing we'll get lol. It just sucks that the real story for Dimitri and the other Lions is basically incomplete because the real story didn't address so many things the characters wanted to address. I guess it's possible we could just say "oh, they figured all that post game" or something, but that feels like what CF went through with TWS. OTL
Meanwhile poor Claude got thrown under the bus again. I was really hoping for a lot more stuff about his background. Apparently they wanted to use Shahid in Houses but they couldn't make for him, so he ended up in Hopes instead? Which like, that's fine, I just wish they went more into detail about their relationship and exactly why Shahid hated Claude so much. Hell, we should've seen more of his siblings seeing as he apparently had a good bunch of them...
Focusing on just Fodlan just feels weird to me, when it comes to Claude's story. You'd think they'd do something more like half about Fodlan and half about Almyra to address his story both where he grew up and where he is now, but we just get minimal content about Almyra. In a way it's also a little awkward, because when you think about it... Shahid was planned for Houses but didn't make the cut, and yet he died in Hopes... so... wouldn't he still technically be alive in Houses? How does Claude becoming king work with Shahid still alive in Houses? How does Claude becoming Leicester's king in Hopes even work or make sense when he's supposed to be Almyra's king?
I feel like Claude just got the big ol' writing yikes in both games. Dimitri's story was very thorough in both games, because even if they did kinda only half complete certain aspects of a whole, full story in each respective game, they at least went in depth and delved very deeply into the parts of the story we did get. In CF we more or less got everything for Edelgard except the TWS battle which they made up for in Hopes, and since the devs consider her overall happier in SB, she still kinda walks out of both games having had a full story. With Claude they kind of just... give us some little crumbs about him and his homeland and then go right back to the Fodlan war.
Makes me sad because it feels like they just don't really care about Claude as much as the other two?
When will Claude's justice come back from the Fodlan war? :'(

Playing the Sims 4, was going for fairly basic wish-fulfillment kinda thing but so far:
-The same day my first sim (Ryan) moved in, an npc (one of the Landgraabs) glitched & got stuck walking in the corner of the lot until she pissed herself and died. Her ghost then kept destroying all of his possessions & making messes until he found the tombstone & sent her away
-A stream of different angry NPCs kept kicking the bin over every time he tidied up
-Ryans husband got stuck at work for way longer than he should've, unable to eat, and nearly died (I eventually caved and used cheats at this point, which I hadn't wanted to do)
-Their daughter was dating someone who turned out to be a werewolf, and ended up stuck in permanent wolf form & rage. The werewolf called her inviting her to events, once there the only option was 'run away!' or watch this goofy fuckin wolf destroy stuff & attack people. The werewolf was made prom royalty (yes, they do graciously accept & wear the crown while in dumbass wolf form, then continue rampaging and nothing else gets done at Prom)
-Ryan's son went to University. It took him 3+ hours to walk across the campus, by which time he'd missed 2 classes.
-When uni-guy returned for his birthday, Ryan and his husband had just had. So many babies. I didn't think they'd have that many without doing the weird phone call thing. Everything was filthy, their animals and plants mostly died...It's way more difficult to get rid of sim babies now, but we managed eventually (nothin personal, kids)
-At uni, Ryan's son made a robot. I'd wanted him to show his creation off to the robotics club, but what actually happened is they cloudgazed & then the robot was immediately forced to move out. Its living in a tiny apartment in the city, just a workstation and a window...one day you'll be reunited, I promise
-Remember his sister? The one that dated the werewolf? She started a relationship with a scarecrow & they were flirting when I started playing that household again.
-Ryan's husband died of laughter twice. They're growing Death Flowers in every available space, and all have a decent friendly relationship with the Grim Reaper (plus a horde of evil chickens).
-Despite that...After getting to Fitness level 10, bad-decisions-girl celebrated by somehow setting herself on fire (with the most expensive & upgraded stove possible) and another huge glitch meant she just kept clipping through objects/walls and didn't put herself out. Reaper arrives, accepts the flower, sim says she's grateful to be alive etc...then turns into an urn and disappears from the menu. Then a little notification pops up, congratulating her on reaching Fitness level 10 and saying she'll 'live for longer' :')
-Shortly after grieving, the scarecrow went to grill some stuff and started another fire, at which point the two dads completely broke down. I had to cheat again and get ghost-girl to put out the fire.
So, that's my game so far! This is what happens when you try to make sims lives too perfect lol. Wonder if she still likes the Grim Reaper...

Thoughts on Optimus?
Ooooh.
Franchise wide, I can find Optimus kind of... frustrating? Because over time, the role they've allowed him to play has felt like it's been constantly fighting against Iconic Pop Culture status slash a kind of official flanderization. It's not a new observation to observe that since his original movie death, there's been a tendency to cast him in the role of infallible but shallow Hero TM in a way that can be very limiting and dull.
On the other hand, I think more incarnations have at least attempted to push back against that than people (me 100% included) always give credit for. TBH, I think the fact the TFP version of the character went so hard on that and was for so long the 'default' modern fandom for TF kind of gave a skewed interpretation of it. With more distance and TFP no longer being 'the' TF continuity we all default to, I think it seems less egregious than it once did.
Anyway. Here are some completely and absolutely subjective and deeply biased opinions on various Optimi across the board:
G1 cartoon s1 and s2: extremely fun. Absolutely Dad energy in the actual sense of Dads Are Fun To Be Around. We all know this, the man has sick dunks, etc etc.
G1 Marvel: I know very little Marvel. Furman's take always seemed kinda bland tho. Like the State Games backstory in that one prose story that wound up inspiring all the later Gladiator stuff however, that's interesting, I would love to see that come back for OP some time as well as the influence it's had on Megs tbh.
Unicron Trilogy, by which I mean Armada bc I don't care about the other two as much: kind of my favourite 'post movie Hero TM' OP take. He's nice. I would hug that guy.
TFA: my favourite Optimus, easy. Genuinely think TFA's pushback on the above is the most inspired take the franchise ever had. He's great because as just his own character in this show in isolation, he's a really appealing archetype that fits the tone TFA goes for fantastically and who is played off in a really fun way, with David Kaye giving a great performance. But even better in the context of being a big ol' TF nerd because the underlying concept if you know to look for it being 'what if Orion Pax never became Optimus Prime, conceptually speaking, but he was still the main character' is just a GREAT idea for a reimagining.
Bayverse: would be way more interesting if the movies acknowledged what a terrifying bastard he winds up.
TFP: fun to take an alternative reading on in a fandom context, but IMO the worst offender re: the above in the actual canon. I like playing around with him being 100% Serious All The Time Bc Prime in terms of like, why he's like that as a person, but in the actual show, it's played basically completely straight and I find it really ehhh. Feels like they were building to an arc in s2 I suspect was cut off by behind the scenes meddling for s3, which is a shame. Wish they'd done more with the Orion Pax arc in particular.
IDW: starts off an absolute infamous mess for ages in the sense that it's the worst possible take on Big Damn Hero TM Optimus imo: a take that looks at it through a really immature and narrow idea of what a Big Damn Hero should be. Kind of like Bayverse in that it makes a lot of underlying assumptions about what makes a big action hero character appealing that turn out to actually mostly make him come across as just an asshole. However, phase 2 made the ballsy decision to not try and soft retcon that out and just write him 'better' but instead take all that at-face-value stuff and actually make it into something you could examine and do something with, and I am forever impressed that they somehow actually just about succeeded at that. That was a much riskier decision than just 'fixing' the dumb bits of phase 1, and while it's not always 100%, it paid off IMO, in ways that resulted in storytelling opportunities that I don't think will ever crop up in the franchise again.
Cyberverse: I like him a lot. A very good compromise of the now-iconic stoic hero characterisation with the idea he should still be appealing by making him not necessarily the original G1 style OP, but instead layering on him being earnest and a little awkward underneath the speeches, so it's less pure noble stoicism and more being kind of a nerd when he's not in leader mode. Deserved that happy ending.

Omg it's been so long since I've been in the Fandom but I've been rekindling everything 🥺🌸🤍💕
Quick question are you comfy with bimbo!reader?
I love reading it here on tumblr and was wondering if I could request bimbo!reader x Castiel or Michael ?
I was thinking they'd all be having a talk in the bunker and God's just like "oh castiel/Micheal why have you never told me about your new gf?" And everyone's like.... gf? And God shows them about how she's such an adorable human but I bit of an airhead... a lot of an airhead and how she's always wearing cute clothes and making sure her lip gloss is always pretty and she's waiting for Cas to come back to her pretty pink apartment!!
Only if you're comfy with it tho!! Have a good dayy🌸💕💕
Angels, Romance and Bimbos || Castiel x Bimbo/Airhead! Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this request is so cute , I hope you’ll enjoy it! I went with Cas because I know his character better , and thought the contrast between his personality and the readers would be cute , but still added Micheal for you!! enjoy angel! <3
It was a fairly calm evening at the bunker , things were good at the minute , and the bunker was fairly packed , literally even god himself , Chuck was there , sitting around a big table was an array of people, The Winchesters , Castiel, Lucifer, Micheal , Gabriel and God , having a meeting of sorts about …. Angel stuff and how to deal with demons causing havoc across America, a pain in the ass and giving many an angel ruffled stressed wings. Micheal was rambling on about how they could round up the demons and banish them all at once with some complicated sigils but Castiel’s mind was elsewhere . He was thinking about his beautiful girlfriend Y/N , they were a couple you wouldn’t think would match, with Castiel’s stoic ness and serious mannerisms , and Y/N being a complete and utter airhead , girly and pink and obsessed with makeup , but they worked so well together, and Castiel adored her , she was actually a hunter , a fairly good one too, when she had her head in the game , he met her at her bar she owned ran by hunters , while out with the Winchesters on a hunt, and fell in love then and there , he always stayed with her and she always couldn’t wait for him to get home to her, even her apartment was pink! Everything, it was like stepping into the early 2000’s in her home, she had some photos of her and Cas in pink frames along the fireplace and on the walls, he had helped her with that, absolutely adorable. As Cas stared into space , Micheal noticed he wasn’t paying much attention “Castiel are you even listening?” He grunted in annoyance , and Chuck…. chuckled “Castiel! How come you never told us all about your Girlfriend?” He enquired , bastard , he had read Castiel’s thoughts, comes with being God I suppose .
“What…? Girlfriend ?” The Winchesters spoke in unison and Castiel sighed “does everyone have to be in my business all the time?” “Yes” Chuck replied simply as he showed everybody memories of Cas and Y/N together , Castiel blushing and covering his face , one memory in particular made everyone tease him, Y/N wanted to practice some makeup but was sick of doing it on herself and so she asked Cas. He nodded happily and let her do what she wished, pink eyeshadow , lipstick the lot, they were both laughing , glitter all over the apartment, who said makeup was just for girls anyway? They looked so full of joy and innocence , it was beautiful . “Man she has you whipped huh!” Gabriel chimed in and Lucifer rolled his eyes not even bothered with the conversation, typical. “Not whipped … I just love her and she loves me , nothing more , it’s a balance , now if we are done here I’m going home” and with that Castiel teleported away into his and Y/Ns home sick of all the prying eyes . Y/N gasped and ran over to him, she was stunning, her hair all curled , wearing pink high heels , her lipgloss on fleek “baby you’re home !!!” She squealed and lost balance falling over , Castiel catching her gracefully “Hello my darling I missed you…” he whispered kissing her forehead gently, not wanting to ruin her lipgloss “I missed you too!!! I tried to bake some cookies but I uh… burned them…” Y/N let out a giggle and so did Cas “you tried your best love that’s all that matters , come on … let’s try again…” and with that they were off to the kitchen , pink aprons in hand ready to make some delicious cookies and spend the night watching rom coms and snuggling .

To: Kana-banana "Yoooo! Check this out!" Futaba's message was attached with a picture of her hand, adorned with a ring.
From: Kana-banana "Wow! How pretty Futaba-chan!"
"Wait... Is that an ENGAGEMENT ring?! You're getting married?! I didn't even know you had a boyfriend! Lucky..."
To: Kana-banana "Yep :)"
"I KNOW I told you about him. He's the Best thing that ever happened to me. I at least told you about what happened after my mom died right?"
From: Kana-banana "You got really depressed."
"Then locked yourself in your room."
"Then the exciting part."
"The Phantom Thieves stole your heart, right?"
"I don't know why they'd do that, you aren't evil or anything Futaba-Chan."
Futaba smiled at the message. She closed her eyes, remembering when she threw herself out of the closet and told Ren to steal her heart. She still has her Calling Card and occasionally looks at it rather fondly. Ren stole her heart in more than one way back then. Soon, she would become his wife.
To: Kana-banana Yep. :)
Futaba hesitated. She knew Kana didn't know Ren, or her for that matter were actually part of the Thieves, but it really would help if she knew, and it should be okay, right?
"and I meant he stole my heart."
From: Kana-banana ":O OH! Are you saying you fell for the Phantom Thieves? I thought you actually were going to get married. Not some silly celebrity crush."
To: Kana-banana ">:( I am actually engaged."
"Say..."
"Can you promise under threat of me destroying all of your social media accounts and ruining your life forever that you won't say anything?"
From: Kana-banana "Of course Futaba. I won't say a thing. What's a best friend for?"
To: Kana-banana "Remember your request on the Phansite?"
From: Kana-banana "Of course. It actually got fulfilled! I was so happy. Mom turned herself into the Police though..."
To: Kana-banana "...that was me. I... am, or was a Phantom Thief. I asked the others to steal your parents' hearts. And we did."
" ...and the guy I'm marrying? He kinda was our Leader."
From: Kana-banana "What?! Are you serious Futaba-chan?! You? A Phantom Thief?! And you're marrying the leader of the Phantom Thieves?"
To: Kana-banana "Yep, yep, yep. >:3”
From: Kana-banana "No way."
"Tell me more about him."
To: Kana-banana "With pleasure. Because Ren is the best guy ever."
Futaba slightly laughed as she sent her message.
"Well, he's actually really sweet. Treats me really well." Futaba smiled as her message was sent. "He makes me curry, plays games with me. Cheers me up when I'm sad. Takes me on cute little dates to just about everywhere..."
She smirked and attached a picture of Ren with his shirt off. "And he's pretty much hot stuff incarnate."
From: Kana-banana "You are so so Lucky Futaba-chan! I wish I had a boyfriend like that."
To: Kana-banana "Mwehehe. Ren is mine though. But also, he's sometimes a total dork. But he's my dork. :-] God I really do love him."
From: Kana-banana "Lucky."
To: Kana-banana "I know right? Like, How did I, of all people land this amazing stud? How am I going to be his wife soon?"
From: Kana-banana "So. Have you, you know? Slept with him?"
Futaba should have known. She had gotten the question several times from the others once her relationship with Ren had been found out.
She shook her head, before quickly typing out a reply.
To: Kana-banana "Like, Sex? No. I'm not ready yet! Most I have ever done was be shirtless with him. I mean, he's a guy so that's easy for him, but for me it was weird!"
"But I have actually literally slept with him. He's like a big cuddly teddy bear."
From: Kana-banana "That sounds cute, Futaba-chan!"
To: Kana-banana "Hehe. It really is when I wake up and he's holding me with an adorable look on his face."
From: Kana-banana "Aww! How sweet! When's the wedding?"
To: Kana-banana "We haven't decided yet. But it should be soon. I promise I'll let you know. But gotta make like Tsukasa and logoff, cause he's calling."

anything you’d like to see the most in future AA games? like character interactions, character development, a certain prosecutor and defense in a case, someone from the main cast getting accused from murder, etc
future AA games. a terrifying prospect. there are definitely things I think would be neat to see that I know AA would never do. at least not given how dd and soj did things.
As far as interactions go I think it would be neat to shake things up a bit instead of sticking with the same dynamics. One of the things that really annoyed me with soj was that they just didn't even bother trying to change up which characters interact with each other. apollo defends trucy, phoenix defends (and in the dlc case investigates with) maya, phoenix vs edgeworth... the dlc case in particular I understand is deliberate trilogy nostalgia bait which is alright I guess, I just wish they'd done something fun with the new dynamics in the game outside of that, too. Like, I talked about this before, if we had Apollo go to Khura'in instead of Phoenix, it would be fun to see Apollo and Maya interact and investigate and be co-counsel. It's shaking up the pre-established dynamic since we had three whole games of fun Phoenix-Maya dynamic, which I totally love! but at the same time this is a world with a bunch of characters who could have their dynamics explored more! Even things like Phoenix and Trucy got practically spat on by DD and especially SOJ. Having a case where the two of them get to work together would be so much fun, and it's an obvious and non-controversial choice.
Some things like Phoenix vs Edgeworth admittedly are the nostalgia bait that panders to me, and unlike an assistant situation, Edgeworth only really shows up for one case at the end so you can't really play around with his interactions as much. Even still through, keeping in mind I did like them investigating together, it would be neat to see Edgeworth also working with or against Apollo or Athena, see how he interacts with people who aren't Phoenix. You could do some neat stuff there. It really felt like with SOJ the characters rarely ever interacted outside of pre-established circles which was a bit annoying. Like, Maya never speaks to or acknowledges Trucy, her best friend's daughter, and that's a crime.
I don't want another Phoenix-centric game he's got nowhere to go. If they're going to do another Phoenix-centric game though they have to at least do something interesting with his character. SOJ was awful for that. They said it was to "challenge him" but it told me absolutely nothing new. wow phoenix would put his life on the line for his friends and clients how novel. never dealt with anything like that before. Apollo's backstory is such a mess now I have no idea how they'd follow up on it. A spiritual successor to AA4 elaborating on the plot threads introduced in that game would be very neat, though I doubt Capcom would do that.
An Athena-centric game could be interesting since she has the most room to grow as a lawyer, the problem is she's not that popular in contrast to Phoenix and Apollo. Also lots of the interesting stuff about Athena was wrapped up in DD, so you'd really need to dive more into her own motivations for becoming a lawyer outside of Simon? Like... Phoenix became a lawyer in part to save Edgeworth, but also because of the class trial which motivated him to save people who have no one else on their side, or at least so that nobody feels as alone as he was at the time. I'm admittedly not as familiar with DD but I can't remember any sort of secondary motivation for Athena outside of "my brother-uncle-figure is on death row and I want to help him". I think that could be neat to explore if they actually put effort into it.
Overall I just want more interesting character choices because SOJ in particular felt very devoid of that for me. SOJ's character decisions felt nonsensical so many times. I'm mostly into AA for the characters and their relationships and how they grow over time, so like... that's something that's super important to me. I think it could be neat to have characters come back but like... in relatively minor roles. Kinda like how they brought Adrian back for T&T. You could see her character growth from who she was in JFA, and she didn't take over the entire plot, allowing for other characters and their dynamics to take center. Contrast with SOJ bringing back Maya and kinda basing the whole game around "let's bring back Maya" but then not doing anything interesting with her character. oh no she's accused of murder and kidnapped again. Like, it could be neat to see Kay as a private investigator investigating a case from a different angle. Or stopping by the prosecutor's office and asking Sebastian for some details about the case. Or looking at a case a few years back that was handled by Ray. Showing these characters still exist in this world without putting them in the spotlight.
(This primarily works for characters whose roles are done, not necessarily cases like 5-3 Klavier, where the thing that stuck out to me is they never followed up on his story. Klavier's story needed more depth into it which 5-3 did not provide. Contrasted with someone like Kay who had her arc essentially wrapped up in the investigations games, and having her in a minor witness role wouldn't really feel as weird. I have no idea if this is making sense.)
Also? Maybe controversial? I wouldn't mind if they just started off with new characters in the same world. No connection to mr phoenix wright whatsoever. A soft reboot like AA4 but completely disconnected except for maybe minor witness roles for main AA characters. I liked TGAA and part of what made it so refreshing is that I didn't have expectations for these characters and was learning their story for the first time. They can do all sorts of new and interesting dynamics with new characters without shoehorning it in to a current protagonist's backstory. I think that would be neat even if hard to market. like I want to get excited for a new AA game but I am scared of what an AA7 might do to characters I love.
ugh this got long didn't it I need a tl;dr.
tl;dr: I'd like to see them shake up pre-established character dynamics a bit, possibly bring back some old characters but unobtrusively, and I wouldn't mind if they even started with new characters and a new story to try and keep things fresh and explore new character dynamics without being bogged down by series lore.
