Sorry it took me a MARATHON of time to reply to, I can’t explain how pleased it makes me that this comment made your day bc honestly every time you update it always seems to be during a v tough week and it’s just this ultimate stress relief and enjoyment that I so so love🥹

Just to quickly waffle about what you said, I’m so appreciative of how you fret over the characters sounding real bc it pays off SO MUCH and though I’m still of the mind that you’ve been given this unique ability to read their minds, I can recognise it must take so much studying of their characters and the words you choose and to have such a phenomenal skill <3333

And honestly I LOVE watching him have all these realisations through Suzy bc it’s so real and so satisfying and I’m so excited (but also terrified bc poor woman how do you compete with soul mates) to see how everything unfolds between them all.

And the LITTLE DETAILS that you should honestly trademark bc you do them so well 😭 but I literally have this growing list in my mind that I need to write down cause they make my heart flutter they’re so intimate and careful :’) I could literally waffle about them all day.

You’re so right, they have SUCH a special dynamic, and often I find it frustrating with real life ships bc it’s not like with films where though characters can be deep they have a specific kind of basis to them which fits a role. Real people are so complex and so it’s not 24/7 that someone gets them so right that you feel like you’re watching a segment of their lives (milex writers in general do tend to have an uncanny ability to write them brilliantly) but with you it feels like everything you write can just be added on to their actual interactions and it’s perfection.

I’m so so pleased that my ramblings had an impact on getting your confidence back to heights it should be at because I rlly can’t explain how brilliant you and your writing are so thank you thank you for all the work you put into it. I’m SO EXCITED for the next chapter 🥰🥰🥰🥰 and one day I’m gonna go into the absolute insane perfection that is the sex scene in chapter 8 bc the realism, build up, and EMOTIONS as well as pure sexyism (almost put sexism there which wasn’t quite right 😂) is just one of the best and sauciest things I’ve ever read.

Oh gosh, ok first things first, the obligatory (but still very genuine) please take care of yourself— no fanfiction is worth killing yourself over (no matter how much you or we love it.) At the same time, wildly excited that you’re still working on Free Falling regardless of everything happening in your life — I love it so much. Tbh, I’ll take any part of FLFverse in any form.

Since you said you were looking for asks, I have a couple of questions stacked up as I’ve been reading and rereading all your fics — no pressure to answer ofc, and idk if some of these answers contain spoilers or things you want to keep secret at the moment, but here we go.

Ok so history of subs in the hero world: in one of your BakuDeku fics, they watch this All Might series and you mention this female sub who was the first hero sub, but that there was just generally stupidity by society and the hero world that relegated her to sidekick hood (and then I think she left actually doing the heroics to manage her own agency? Forgive my memory. It’s been a minute since I’ve read it and I too am drowning in college.)

At the same time, however, from both Hawks and Deku’s POVs, there seems to be not any subs at all in the hero world when they’re heroes/training to be heroes. And forgive me if I’m wrong, but I sense from some of the BKDK fics, Deku is kinda seen as one of the first out sub heroes? Obviously there’s a huge gap in the middle between where Free Falling is right now and where the BKDK fics pick up that you probably can’t answer, but is it just like, an open secret in the hero world that Hawks is a sub? Is he one of several that can get by as long as they don’t openly admit it? Have there been hero subs before Hawks, or is her the first high profile heros who’s a sub, regardless of who knows? Have there been other high profile sub heros before Hawks and Deku? I don’t even know how much of that you can answer, but I’m just too obsessed with your world building and fictional history to not ask.

Ok so the next thing I have to ask, and I’m also guessing it’s a thing you can’t answer bc as an obsessive writer/reader of fiction, this is what I would center a plot point on (which, no judgement if you aren’t going to, I’m just obsessively theorizing in my free time): what are the legal ramifications of contracts? Hawk’s specifically. I remember that you posted a lot about contract’s legality, and a lot of Hawk’s seems to be in the illegal zone, ie, he signed it when he was underaged. Again, my memory is failing me, so I can’t remember if things like, there’s no dom specified or that there’s no end date specified could nullify the contract either. But then there’s the thing about permanent contracts. Is this like catholic marriage? Like, you can’t get it dissolved ever, unless under incredibly specific circumstances? Or do illegalities trump permanence? Is permanence itself even legal? But if it isn’t, why is everyone so afraid of that? (Personally, Im sensing Legal and Court Drama in the future, and if that’s the case, please know that I will literally lose my mind in anticipation.)

Anyways, those are things I’ve been stewing over. They might be too plot heavy for you to answer, idk, I’ve never done one of these before. But despite my absolute love of this entire world (but especially Free Falling), or rather, because of it, please take your time and prioritize your mental health! I think everyone who reads this series and loves it a lot would prefer it be a thing that’s made the way you want it to be in a way that’s supportive to you, no matter how long it takes or when the updates come :)

SO, history of submissive heroes. basically that first hero sub (Morioka!) (she still needs a first name and a hero name shh) was doing it illegally/undercover, then once her secret got out she fought and won the right to keep being a hero so woo submissives can be heroes now.

[side note: i imagine that even she technically wasn’t The First, like when quirks were still new and heroes weren’t regulated, who was going to stop them? but it was still very rare bc of the general attitude around subs and it’s all very hush hush no one talks about that bit. it’s not like they were real heroes, after all 🙄]

so anyway, all that went down just ahead of aizawa’s generation, actually. his first year at UA was the first year the school started allowing submissives (not every hero school did right away, those requirements took a few years). as we know, aizawa and yamada are switches. you know who isn’t? oboro :3

i would like to write about that sometime. just. rahhh. that’s part of why aizawa is very pro-sub (the rest is, you know, basic human decency).

oh—i forgot about the fate of morioka up there. she was actually dropped by her agency for the scandal and did her best working with other heroes/on her own for a little while, but ultimately it got to be too much and she retired early to find a different career. unfortunately not the most feel-good story.

as for how many submissive heroes there are now, during Free Falling, i’d say there’s a handful. but like morioka, quite a few burn out or never really climb the ranks that much and fade into obscurity. on the face of it discrimination is Bad and Not Allowed, but toxic workplaces, y’know? i don’t think i’ve said it outright, but i’ve definitely alluded to ryukuu being a sub. she’s the highest ranking one known to the public and gets a ton of shit for it, but from what we see in canon she doesn’t seem to be too big on the spotlight anyway? i don’t see her as being very activism-minded, she’s just trying to do her job, not be the face of a movement, and probably avoids discussing it publicly just for the sake of her own sanity. valid.

hawks is technically going stealth as a switch. he just dodges the question if it’s brought up or says something vague. the fan conspiracy theories are probably wild (oh no, now i’m thinking about FLFverse rpf xreader fic), but among heroes it’s kind of a “don’t ask, don’t tell” thing—at least the ones that aren’t dicks.

hawks’s image is very carefully crafted by the commission and they do not want that part of him to become undeniable fact because it would damage his reputation. especially after everything he’s accomplished. the first hero to make top ten before he’s twenty is a submissive? uh, yeah, right. that would go over well.

beyond that, i think it’s pretty much just deku who’s high-profile. and kaminari and jirou to a lesser extent (and whoever else i’ve decided subs, there’s 20 of them leave me alone). their whole class is really famous for obvious reasons, so it’s kind of a given. i’d like to say that deku being, you know, who he is starts to change some minds, and he probably does, but not so much that it takes all the fun out of playing with the social hierarchy, right? ;D change can’t be that easy.

hm, gotta think about the second question. if there is to be Legal And Courtroom Drama, it would be in part 4, which is a huge amorphous blob in my brain right now. i know some legal stuff has to happen/change, but i’m not sure if i’ll focus on it or not yet. tucking that in my back pocket!

anyway. what i can say about that right now is that hawks’s contract is very illegal, but pretty much solely bc of the underage signing, especially given that it’s permanent. permanent contracts are like marriage licenses. they’re the only ones that have to be registered with the government in order to “count” and they are harder to get out of, but not quite catholic-marriage-level. and yes, illegalities would trump permanence.

the question is….do you trust the hero commission to be honest with either the government or hawks?

there’s also the whole deal that separate from the D/s contract, hawks still has his canon contract where the commission bought him from his mom. what’s up with that? time will tell.

there’s also other legal/ethical/etc issues going on which, of course, you all won’t know about until the end of part two. :) i can do ~intrigue~, i promise

🥺 - “Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in the feels?” Is this in canon or fan fiction writing, I wonder??? Both? I’ll go with tropes that get me in general. I get really swoony for comfort in whatever form that comes. Hurt/Comfort is my jam! When characters are in mental/emotional/physical peril and someone just holds them, or listens to them, or encourages them… ugh I melt to the floor!

🤡 - “What’s a line, scene, or exchange you’ve written that’s made you laugh?” I don’t laugh out loud too much with my writing, but I’ve been next to wheezing for more than one scene with Eddie and Maggie. When she banishes Eddie to the “boy bed”, jumping on Eddie’s head while he’s sleeping, when he tries to sneak her into Steve’s RV, etc. Maggie honestly always cracks me up!

💖 - “What made you start writing?” I honestly don’t know in general, I’ve been journaling and writing for as long I can remember. But, for fic writing… I’m pretty sure my earliest fan fiction was Avatar: The Last Airbender (Zutara forever lol) and usually, like most fic writers, I just started writing stories if I didn’t like the way a story ended or I wanted more of something that I felt was lacking… Ships were a big driving force to that. It was so fun to just recreate or rewrite characters and stories I loved.

💞 - “Who is your comfort character?” Presently, Eddie Munson and Chrissy Cunningham. They’re so soft and cozy! I live in the forest scene 💚🧡🖤

🤲 - “Would you please share a snippet of a WIP?” How about a little bit of the long awaited prequel to “Old Haunts”? Working title is “The Vanishing of Chrissy Cunningham.” It’s my Chrissy Lives AU/Season 4 Rewrite:

“Can’t help but notice the freshies are acting a little skittish today. You know anything about that?”

He doesn’t. “Probably scared shitless since I’m about to annihilate you all in a TPK tonight.” Eddie muses casually, straightening with a frown when a little folded paper flutters like a butterfly into his face, falling to the floor from his locker.

It’s very much not his, tinted slightly pink with red journal lines. Curious, he bends down to pick it up.

It’s a little early in the day for requests. Still, it is Friday, he supposes.

Gareth is still going on about something, some concern about the campaign, but he isn’t listening as he unfolds it.

It’s written in neat cursive with a blue fountain pen.

He stares at it for almost a full minute, brows furrowing together, his palms beginning to sweat like he’s back in fucking Middle School.

Well… that sure as hell doesn’t make any sense.

Spastically he shoots his head up, looking around, eyes wild as he slams his locker shut to get it out of his line of sight. Pulse racing, he searches the sea of students moving through the halls to their next class.

He finds her.

She’s just there across the way, her back is to him, hair tied up in a neat little ponytail with a large green scrunchie. She’s tucked up tightly under Carver, his hand resting casually on her hip as he yuks it up with one of the other meatheads. She’s almost lost in the sea of green and orange surrounding her.

As if feeling his gaze, she glances over her shoulder, her big timid eyes locking with his.

Eddie swallows thickly, his throat suddenly dry.

For a moment he can’t hear anything at all, the world is slow, hazy, silent.

He tilts his head at her slightly, mouth parting in question.

She then blinks slowly at him as if to nod and his heart skips a beat.

There’s no mistake. No trick.

It’s from her.

She looks away just as quickly when Carver reclaims her attention. She mumbles something in reply to him and they move on down the hall together. She spares him one last anxious glance before being swallowed up whole by her royal entourage.

“Dude, you good?” Gareth mutters, realizing he definitely missed something, looking around to see what has his attention.

Eddie blinks, waking up from the spell with a tremor, shoving the note in his pocket hurriedly.

“What’s going on?” Gareth wonders aloud, eyes back on him.

Eddie stares off in her direction one last time, shouldering his bag. “The hell if I know.” he replies, a bemused half smile involuntarily curling at the corner of his lips.

…

His leg bounces without stopping all through Trig. He’s not listening to a word Cussler is saying. He’s way too keyed up.

Chrissy Cunningham.

Chrissy fucking Cunningham wants to meet with him to buy drugs.

Trying and failing to work out her sudden interest in recreational activities, his pen moves on its own over his notebook paper, telling her where to find him, what time. He jots down directions to the old abandoned picnic table behind the school, quite sure there’s no way in hell she’s been back there before.

He’s done this hundreds of times, for every rank of the student body, but still his hand is shaking way more than usual as he writes.

Calm the fuck down, he tells that juvenile part of himself he has proactively tried to kill and bury throughout the years.

That part of him that is way too giddy about this whole damn thing. About seeing her, talking to her.

She just wants weed. It’s just a deal.

It’s been years since he spoke actual words to her. She probably thinks what everyone else thinks of him. That he’s a lowlife. Trailer trash. A freak.

“How do I look?” he asks her. “Metal?”

“…Is Metal good?” she tilts her head, hand still holding his chin. He grins.

“Metal is the best.”

The prettiest smile he has ever seen suddenly blooms across her face. “Then yeah, totally Metal!”

The memory clashes violently against his suspicions, but he shoves it aside.

That was eight fucking years ago.

When the bell rings, he quickly phases into the halls, the note tucked safely in his sleeve. He’s got to do this just right.

Slipping it in her locker is not a risk he’s willing to take with all the jocks hovering around her all day.

He knows she passes him near the water fountain on his way to English Lit. They’ve passed one another there everyday for the whole semester. He wonders if she knows that too, because her shaky eyes lock on him the moment she comes into view, just like before.

And Christ, she’s pretty.

He levels his gaze with hers, raising his brows, inclining his chin slightly toward her.

A subtle signal. One she thankfully receives.

Carefully she wades towards him through the flow of students, and his heart rate rises to a concerning rate. He has to be fast. He can only imagine the backlash if someone sees. For him. For her. Luckily the halls are crowded like they usually are this time a day.

That and she’s walking alone for once.

When their shoulders brush, he pulls the note from his sleeve with his middle and ring finger and presses it into her palm, feeling her fingers curl around it, soft, featherlight.

A jolt of electricity travels up his arm at the touch of her skin, making his fist clench tightly as he quickens his pace. She’s already well past him.

He doesn’t dare glance back.

What a perfect way to end season 2!!

I’m glad both Seokjin and OC had their respective besties talk stuff through! I love both Yuna (comin through with the chocolate and toast & chunky bread toast is the best imo 😂🙈) and Hoseok (😡 at Kangs dad 😡) so much! I’m glad Yuna and Jimin made up after their argument ☺️

I honestly got a bit emotional and teary reading the talk between OC and her dad! I’m so so happy they talked and had their heart to heart! I think it was much needed and I hope we get to see her family again in the next season! Her dad wants to make Glob a crib 😭😭 that’s so sweet! Wait til he (if he ever does lol) hears that Seokjin wondered if he would build a house for OC and Jin 🥺🥺

The present Jin bought back 🥺 I’m so glad he talked to his therapist and he went straight to OC’s when he got back from Japan. OC and Jin are so cute together 😭🥰😍🥺 I’m so happy they talked when he landed in Japan and when OC watched his presentation and pointed out to glob that her dad was on screen 🥺😭 was just too cute!
