isabella, lucia, antonia, ysabel
even though lucia is sort of the central character and she doesn’t interact that often w characters like isabella or ysabel, each of them has a pretty important dynamic with andrea that shapes the narrative around her. so a bit on each of those relationships
ISABELLA
isabella is betrothed to andrea when she is eight years old. the five year age gap between them makes it easy for him to treat her as uneducated and annoying. though he does mellow out somewhat as he grows older, andrea never quite lets go of this dismissiveness towards her (and all women. lol). isabella is at an age when she is beginning to entertain ideas about love and romance for herself, and recognizing that she will never win over andrea, seeks out attention from others.
lucia’s penchant for gossip is what eventually spells disaster for isabella. she parrots a rumor that she’s taken one of her peers as a lover, which andrea is predictably slighted by. he and a friend pursue and brutally assault isabella’s companion (still a teenager), killing him. he says nothing of this to isabella or lucia, though both have their suspicions.
isabella is devastated at the loss of her companion. when andrea seems to show little sympathy for her loss, she dares to suggest that he was involved in the death, which he refuses to engage with. grieving and distraught at the idea of spending the rest of her life at andrea’s side, she kills herself at the age of sixteen.
LUCIA
lucia unwittingly catches andrea’s attention when he is teetering on the edge of puberty, but it isn’t until several years later when he’s sixteen that he finds the conviction and an opportune time to proposition her. she’s four years his senior, but his status is significantly elevated over her own.
it is pretty cut and dry that he rapes her but neither of them recognize that. at most, lucia is aware she’s being coerced, but she plays the game, says what he wants to hear, and hopes that he’ll leave her alone afterwards. he does not, and continues to pursue her, but in a manner she thinks of as sort of gentlemanly (despite that fact that he assaulted her). against her better judgement she does not raise the issue to her mistress. she finds him at times inconvenient, not particularly attractive, and temperamental, but overall tolerable and sometimes even charming. most importantly, he seems to be sincere in his affections for lucia. her standards are low.
she entertains him for around a year before she is absent for a five year gap following antonia’s marriage.
his etiquette is polished during lucia’s time away, and when she returns and he seeks to engage her again in a relationship, she is more easily won over by his adult behavior. following isabella’s death and antonia’s grief, she chooses to leave the household and join andrea in hopes of escaping the constant gloom. while initially thrilled with her status, ysabel’s arrival irritates her immensely. she works tirelessly to keep andrea’s attentions on her and away from his wife, whom she finds beautiful and docile and is extremely threatened by. she succeeds, but with increased attention comes scrutiny, and andrea becomes more and more critical of her with time as he is made aware of her “flaws.”
whatever modicum of independence she had serving antonia she loses in andrea’s household, though it takes time for her to realize this. as his grip tightens with time, she goes from flattered by his obsession and entertaining the idea of loving him to downright restless and fearful of him.
ANTONIA
antonia is a year older than andrea, and though their interactions are infrequent, she dislikes him from the jump. she finds his callousness towards her sister infuriating and resents him for the relationship he eventually begins to develop with her father. andrea, always quick to pick up on a slight, recognizes this and their relationship becomes one of subtle jabs and backhanded comments to set the other off.
neither of them have the self-awareness to recognize how remarkably similar their personalities are. even lucia interprets their behavior differently due to their respective sexes.
after isabella’s suicide, antonia retreats into her apartments and lives like a recluse, allowing little company besides that of her maids. she is miserable and volatile, and lucia finds herself walking on eggshells around her. the comparative levity of andrea’s household prompts lucia to disappear overnight, to antonia’s distress.
YSABEL
ysabel is betrothed to andrea following isabella’s death. with her father a part of the newly established spanish rule, she is a shy girl in a foreign country with few companions and a weak grasp on the local language. she’s seventeen at the time; andrea, twenty-three. compared to the long betrothal period of andrea and isabella, he and ysabel are wed briskly within the year.
despite her reserved personality, ysabel is optimistic about the marriage. andrea is brief but polite, educated, and (she thinks) handsome. he gives her respectful distance after their wedding, which she thinks is to allow her to acclimate to his household. eventually, being a horny and repressed teenager, she begins trying to subtly indicate to her husband that she’d like his attention, but her signals go unnoticed or ignored until she begins to suspect that he’s not interested in women at all.
at this point, andrea has already taken lucia as his mistress, and he conceals her from ysabel as long as he can manage. the eventual revelation is devastating to ysabel, but seemingly explains his disinterest in her. she grows to loathe lucia and blame her for andrea’s lack of affection, whilst lucia similarly resents ysabel for having been given the privileged status of “wife.” when ysabel eventually becomes pregnant, she hopes that it will inspire some loyalty in her husband; she is carrying his family legacy. alas, it is not the case. while he is generally gentler towards her during her pregnancy, he still leaves her wanting for attention and intimacy. she has andrea’s first child, a daughter, a little over a year into their marriage, followed by two sons in the two years following.
unlike lucia, ysabel grows emboldened with time. though her disobedience is subtle, she begins slowly and quietly trying to wrest a degree of freedom from andrea’s hands

I have some thoughts brewing abt my gender and sexuality that I might feel ready to share soon. Idk idk
#I always get fucking switcharoo’ed though as soon as I start hyping myself up to come out#like I was 🤏 this fucking close to coming out as [redacted] a few months ago#but then a breakup and tlt rewrote my brain chemistry and now idk about anything anymore#I just. somehow feel more sure this time#I’m still just struggling a bit with insecurity abt my body (specifically my face)#the heavens cursed me with a baby face and several uncommon facial features#meaning makeup tutorials that work with my face are few and far between#I struggle to look cute as a femme and I look too femme to be interpreted as butch/masc even when I try really fucking hard#idk I’m just afraid of these identities bc the combo is sort of niche and no one irl would get it. the only thing I dread more#than not ‘’living my truth’ or w/ever#is having to explain my gender to people. I would seriously rather live in the closet for the rest of time#just. the idea of constantly being othered in that way is upsetting to me. I hate standing out#and I hate that it would another layer of complexity to like 95% of my social interactions. plus I’m afraid of getting made fun of#I would totally clock as a snowflake in my yeehaw MAGA area#I just. I want to go someplace where looking like a genderfuck is normal#I don’t want to be brave I want to be surrounded by queer people who understand what it means to truly be accepting.#who understand what it means to look at someone who the rest of society would deem undesirable or cringe or confused#and to truly see them as beautiful. to see them as beautiful specifically BECAUSE of the traits that alienate them from the rest of society#anyway I think what I really want is to move to the nearest gayborhood and adopt a dog with a hot butch who shares every one of my kinks.#is that too much to ask#weekend whining

A gift for the princess 彡 Geta x princess f!reader x Caracalla
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Geta x princess f!reader x Caracalla
Synopsis: The empire comes to your aid and you are reunited with your childhood friends, they end up having a gift you cannot turn down
Wordcount: 3,1k
Request: ‘I’ve been thinking of this plot for a while, but I’m not a writer and could never write it myself. But what if both of the twins x reader, who was their childhood best friend, she came from a very wealthy family (for some reason I like to think she was royalty in a neighboring country or smth, anyway, she was forced to move away, and the twins and here were devestated (cause they like LIKED each other) years go by, and they are now emperors, they have to go to a place for business, with other royals (like where the reader lives) and they meet again, and like, fall in loveeee’ by anon
Tags: Childhood friends to lovers, reader is a princess, some light groping but no full on smut, period accurate misogyny, implied violence, implied abuse.
A/N: Phew this one is a little longer than I intended it to be. Maybe a little less historically accurate than my last one but I tried sticking to historical facts. I always thought of Caracalla as a shy child that turned mad and Geta being the brave one. This will be the last full on fic I post before I go to Paris, enjoy!
Tumblr media
It would be a short seige, your castle walls were never strong enough to withstand the Parthian army. Yet your father, having spiraled into madness, insisted to keep fighting. For years your small kingdom had been an ally to the empire. Even if it was small, it had a strategic and important port. Under Marcus Aurelius it had it added to the list of allies and it had been loyal up. Your father suddenly decided to start a war against Parthia. Voices plagued his mind, advisors gone corrupt filled his mind with delusions. You had been supportive of your father, trying to see the good in his actions as a way to cope. Giving up on the man that had raised you felt like betrayel. Your mother was a noble lady and after giving birth to you ander your brother she moved back to her own home. Their marriage was arranged and quite an unpleasant one. You were his only daughter, his sweet delight. Your brother was aiding the empire in the conquest of Numidia by order of the emperor, leaving you to watch over your father. Every day he slipped further into madness, and everyday it became more painful to watch.
At a certain point his advisors convinced him to go to war. Once you got wind of the idea you had the advisors sent away, unleashing your fury upon him. But your father had already sent out the command. You had prayed to Pax, Fortuna and Minerva for the war to end well and for the Romans to send aid. Emperor Severus had been a good friend to your father. You weren’t aware that he had passed and his sons, Geta and Caracalla, were terrorizing the empire. News travelled slow in the empire and before you knew it there was an entire army knocking on your door with no aid in sight. You had witnissed the Pathian generals slaughter the people on the outskirts of the city being killed. Their screams haunting your mind as you hid.
Once, you knew the twins. It was a long time ago, before your father had become king. He took you and your brother to Rome quite often, in hindsight you understood it was probably to find a suitable match amongst the sons of the senators. Due to the friendship your father and the emperor shared you were often on the Forum. You remember meeting the twins for the first time.
Tumblr media
Caracalla was a shy boy, hiding behind his brother. Geta was a bit cocky but curious about you. They were a few years older than you were. You were clinging to your fathers toga, you never played with boys. At home you were either being taught by master or you were playing with the daughters of your fathers advisors. Boys sucked. And yet here you were, alone with these boys in a room.
“Do you wanna play soldiers?” Geta had asked eventually. “You can be the helpless girl and we-” He had shoved his brother from behind him. “We will save you.” There was a proud smirk on his face.
Soldiers? Why would you want to play that, why would you be the helpless girl. “I don’t want to play that.” You reached for the wooden sword. Geta tried to grasp for it.
“You can’t play with that, that isn’t for girls.” He sneered as you pulled away. Caracalla still hadn’t spoken a word.
“Stop it!” You frowned, you weren’t one to let somebody to tell you what to do.
Soon, chaos ensued. Somehow you ended up in a brawl with him, and to your surprise you were winning. All that commotion had alarmed the servants, who had fetched your fathers. Emperor Severus was pissed. He had dragged Geta off you, shouting stuff like ‘this is not how you treat guests’ and ‘you let that little girl beat you up’. Caracalla chased after them while sobbing as the emperor dragged Geta by his collar out of the room.
Tumblr media
The banging on the door only got louder, together with the other women of this court you were hiding in the cellar. Soft prayers were whispered, hopes that the devine above might save them. You didn’t pray, you knew there was no stopping an army, your kingdom was way too small to beat Parthia. Your father didn’t have the men, nor did he have much expierence. It would be over soon and all you could hope for is that they wouldn’t slaughter and take every single woman in this room.
Tumblr media
Over the years you luckily grew to appreciate each other’s company. Visits to Rome became more frequent. Your father enjoyed the wine, food, feasts and whores in the capital better. Geta was still as boisterous as before as he often liked to remind you of how he would become emperor someday. Caracalla had grown out of his shyness, but he got reckless and often faced his father’s wrath.
You were sitting on Caracalla’s bed, soflty dapping your handkerchief against his busted lip. Geta was leaning agaisnt a pillar as he watched you tend to his brother. “What happened.” You had asked Geta, Caracalla was still visibly upset. He was rambling some words you couldn’t understand, making himself small and leaning out of his touch. Sometimes it felt like you were talking to a child.
“Drank too much wine last night and was found in the horse stables.” Geta replied, keeping it short. You could tell his fathers violence got to him.
“You’re a fool sometimes Caracalla.” You spoke to him, lifting his chin to get a better look.
“He just needs to die then I will be emperor.” He had spouted a bit angrily in return.
You sighed softly and stood up. “We will fetch a doctor.” You spoke, nodding your head to Geta to signal him to come along. Something was up with Caracalla, he was reckless but he had become more unpredictable and forgetful over the last few months. It was eating away at you, you saw them as your closest friends.
“Something is wrong with him, Geta.” You spoke as soon as the two of you turned a corner. “Did the doctors say anything last time?”
“They say his peverse nature has infected his mind.” Geta spoke as he walked with you. “They’re trying to treat him but father says he is fine.”
“He’s not.”
“I know.”
Tumblr media
Then the screams came. The walls had been breached. Younger girls started sobbing, with a stern look you tried to make them shut up. You couldn’t blame them, the worse thing that could happen to you is that they would make you a concubine. Soldiers knew better than harming a princess that could be used for blackmail. But those girls, they would have to endure the worst. You held your breath as you could hear them getting closer, your heart beating in your chest. The doors opened, but to your surprise it weren't Parthian soldiers. Their shields carried the Roman chrest. It were Roman Soldiers. Had they come to your aid? You got up, your dress was dirty and your messy. The seige lasted a few hours and you had been stuck in this stuffy room.
“Princess Y/N, you have summoned by imperial decree.” One of the generals entered, you did not recognize him. He looked older, his black hair slowly graying. They took you, dragging you out of the room despite your protests. The didn’t take commands from a woman, they took direct orders from the emperors and the emperors alone.
Tumblr media
It was a particularly hot summer that year. This time you had went ahead of your father to Rome, he had some business to take care of back home. It was uncommon for girls your age to travel alone, you had long passed the age to be wed, but you were of age. It was the only reason your father let you go alone. Something had changed this year tho, you weren’t sure about what. The three of you always went swimming in their private pool, it had been a tradition for you of some sort. You never thought of it as strange. Yet, this year you could feel your cheeks heating up as you watched them swim around.
“Are you just going to lay there?” Geta spoke up. You were still laying in the shade and still dressed.
“Don't feel like swimming.” You spoke as you grinned softly.
“Is the princess afraid of getting wet?” He laughed loudly as he swam to the side of the pool.
“I am not!” You got up defensively. In the midst of your conversation you had not noticed Caracalla lurked behind you. With a giggle he flung you into the water.
“There we go.” Geta laughed, watching you struggle to swim in the flowly stola you were wearing. You would have bothered to undress first if you knew they were gonna force you in.
The echoes of Caracalla's laughter rung around the pool. It had gotten worse, you knew that. Both of them got worse in their own way. From what you heard they were drunks with concubines from all over the empire and a lust for blood. It made you sad.
“You should come to the Colosseum soon.” Geta swam closer to you, looking slightly down on you. The water was up to your shoulders but you could still stand. The way he looked at you made your head do summersaults. He lifted your chin. “I think you would enjoy what we have prepared for you.” He got closer, eye contact still remaining as your lips almost touched.
“I am not sure if-” He cut you off with a kiss. Caracalla was behind you now, his hands roamed your hips and his lips were on your neck. He softly bit down on the skin as he whimpered while rutting against you. You were sandwhiched between them. One of Geta's hands was on your breast, the other holding your chin in place.
It was so perfect, until it wasn't. Your father had barged in and saw the scene. He, too, had heard of the twins endeavours. And upon seeing you sandwiched between them he got furious. He ordered you out of the pool and he scolded the both of them. Surely, they would never hear the end of it from their own father. It made you anxious for what would happen when the emperor got word of what had happened here. That didn't matter tho, you would be there to patch up their bruises.
Atleast, that is what you thought. Your father had send you home right away and you never saw the two of them again. The first year was hard but you learned to live with the heartache. With your father illness you had more pressing matters than Rome.
Tumblr media
They had dragged you back all the way to Rome. It was early in the morning when you finally arrived, your head ached and your feet were sore. On the way you were informed your father was killed, only worsening your pain. The soldiers had given you a minimum of food and water and kept you dressed in simple rags. You felt like a prisoner and you still weren’t none the wiser about why you were summoned. Atleast you didn’t have to walk all the way.
You arrived in Rome filthy, dehydrated, hungry and confused. At once, you were taken to the throne room. It was nearly the same as you remembered, only there were two thrones. Maybe he put it there as a way to honor his deceased wife. Taking in the surroundings you heard the emperor and the guards come in.
“I hope there is a good reason for my treatment on this journey, your imperial highness.” You turned around, but instead of seeing emperor Severus, you stood eye to eye with them. Geta and Caracalla. Your heart dropped. It been years since you had seen them. They were the emperors now?
“We apologise for your treatment, my lady.” Geta spoke first as he offered his hand. You stood frozen, taking in the both of them. You couldn’t lie, it was good to see them. It was like a weight falling of your shoulders. But something felt off. Geta had a cold look in his eyes and Caralla looked almost insane. His eyes reminded you of your father. Both of them were dressed in gold armour with a gold laurel crown on their heads. They radiated divinity. It didn’t feel the same as it once did.
With a trembling lip you stumbled over to them, falling on your knees infront of them. You had grasped ahold of Geta’s robe. Caracalla grinned as he crouched down to look at you. “We saved your kingdom. You must thank us, your brother will be king now.”
You looked up at him with fat tears rolling down your face as you were reminded of your father’s death. Geta grabbed your face in his hand. “What my brother means to say is that we are very sorry about your father. He may have acted like a fool but no ally of Rome should suffer like you have.” He gave you a hand, you took it and stood. “There will be games in his honour tonight. You will be attending.” It wasn’t a question, it was a demand.
Softly, you nodded. You tried to process what was going on. “Yes, games.”
“Real games, with bloodshed. No mercy.” Caracalla spoke to you as if he tried to comfort you. “We got you a dress.”
“Yes, Cassia will help you get dressed. You must get some rest now.” Geta turned to a young girl, she looked foreign but she had a Roman. She was probably a concubine that they liked so much she got promoded to a handmaid. “Cassia, get her cleaned up.” He snided at the girl.
Cassia led you out of the throne room to the baths. The hot water felt nice against your sore skin, you felt clean atlast. An essence of mint and citrus hanging in the air.
After the bath, Cassia had dressed you in your gown. It was purple with gold trimmings, it must’ve cost a fortune. The fabric felt expensive. Your hair was done in an elaborate hairstyle. Even if you were a princess, the luxeries in Rome was something your father could not afford. You looked like an empress, the empress. “The emperors wish to see you before you leave for the Colosseum.” She eventually spoke after she finished doing your hair.
With heavy feet you made your way to the throne room. It did feel better to be dolled up again, but under these circumstances you doubt you could feel anything at all. You were alone in a city full of people that would probably want you dead, you had no moment of peace as two guards followed you at all costs. They pushed the door open to the throne room, Geta and Caracalla were already waiting for you.
They had changed into new clothes too. Caracalla wore a black gown, Geta opted for a rich red. The twins turned to look at you.
“You look splendid, my lady.” Geta spoke first before Caracalla interrupted him.
“My brother and I have a proposal to make.” He sat in his throne like a giddy child. You carefully watched them.
“Your father has passed, leaving you unmarried and under nobody’s protection.” Geta started, you weren’t sure what he was getting at. “Your brother is too busy being king, so..”
“What is it you want from me.” You cautiously narrowed your eyes.
Caracalla rose to his feet and walked towards you, grabbing your hands. “Marry us. You loved us when we were children, you love us now right?” There was a hint of desperation in his eyes. “Right?” He repeated, now sounding a little more angry.
You were left speechless. If they had asked you this question a few years ago you would’ve agreed without a second thought, but after all these years and all that happened you just couldn’t process what they asked of you.
“Nothing would happen to your kingdom once you are empress.” Geta was suddenly behind you, whispering in your ears. “We will make the man that murdered your father die a painfull death, my lady.” He stroked a ringed finger against your arm, the metal felt cold against your skin.
Geta took a step back. “We will give you some time to think, we have a surprise for you during the games first.” You heard Caracalla giggling, what had they planned?
In the Colosseum you were seated in between them. The two of them clearly enjoyed the bloodshed. Geta watched with a calm gaze and a smile on his face, Caracalla on the other hand was clapping and laughing as soon as blood was spilled. They had plenty of servants filling their cups, while they drank and enjoyed the finest food. You watched silently with your hands folded in your lap. The screams of agony from whoever was being slaughtered only reminded you of home. When you closed your eyes you could see the families being slain, the face of the Parthian general clear as day. You couldn’t have protected them even if you wanted, it made you feel helpless.
“And now! For the main event, our undefeated champion!” The master of ceremonies announced. Geta gave you a shove, making you look up at what was actually going on in the arena. “The Tigris of Gaul!” The crowd roared when he entered. He rode in on a rhino, the heavy beast trotting in.
Caracalla was basically jumping of his chair now, he took your hand and led you to the edge of the balcony. His grin was like a cheshire cat. “This will be our gift to you.” He spoke.
Geta got up as well, gracefully walking to place a hand on your back.
“Our champion will be taking it up against the Parthian Mithridates!” A beat up and confused man entered the ring, you recognized his face immediatly. It was the general that had killed your citizens. You remained silently as you coldheartedly watched the man taking it up against the Tigris of Gaul.
It didn’t take long for the gladiator to have the general on his back, he had only been given a dull sword. He had no chance of winning. The Tigris held his blade against the general’s neck, looking up to the emperor’s balcony for approval to kill him.
Geta had been smiling this entire time, gauging your reaction. “Well? What do you say? What judgement will the gods render.”
“Kill him.” Caracalla almost spat in your ear, his behaviour getting more erratic. “Kill him!”
Your thoughts ran a hundred miles an hour. That was the man that killed your people, he might even have killed your father. He caused so much suffering, so much death. You had him in your clutches now, you were the one deciding his faith. You looked down at him, the tears had fallen down your cheek a while ago. Were you able to say word, have this man killed? You had always been a sweet girl, your father sang praises of your gentle nature whenever he could. But something had changed, something had stirred.
They had given you this chance. This could mean war with Parthia and yet they still did it. They did it because they could, and they wanted you to have revenge. If being of empress of Rome ment you could reign terror down on the ones that hurt your people you had made your decision.
You looked at Geta, giving him a small nod. His grin grew even wider as he grabbed your hand. He lifted it slightly, he held his other fist up. “The gods have rendered their judgement!” The crowd went silent. They all watched the downturned thumb and they cheered once more. It was true what they said about the games, show them blood or else they will want yours.
You watched coolly as general Mithridates got his throat slid, only flinching slightly as the blade his neck and the blood spurted out. Before you could see the rest you had turned around to leave the emperors box.
“Where are you going. You are missing the best part.” Caracalla frowned as he watched you leave.
“There is a wedding to be planned.” You replied calmly. The twins looked at each other, their gift had worked. Rome would have a new empress soon, and she would show no mercy to her enemies.

You don’t mean to start it. Not really.
Okay—maybe you do. A little.
You’d been watching him all day, the way his sleeves bunched around those arms, sweat gleaming in the dips of his muscle, and every time he lifted something—God. You could’ve cried. He knew the way your eyes dragged, how you bit your lip every time he stretched. He’d mutter a, “Quit starin’.” but he never actually told you to stop.
So now you’re sitting on your shared bed, somewhere between wound up and unwell, watching as Daryl peels off his overshirt with a grunt. .
“Can I…” you start, your voice quiet, “Can I use your arm?”
He freezes mid-movement, turns to you slow with one brow raised. “Use it?”
Your cheeks burn. Your thighs clench. “Like. Your bicep. Just for a second. I promise I won’t—uh, never mind.”
Daryl just stares. Blinks. Then his mouth curls into the most sinful half-smirk you’ve ever seen.
“Ain’t never heard that one before,” he mutters, voice thick with disbelief—and maybe curiosity. “Y’wanna rub up on my arm?”
You nod. Quiet. Desperate.
He stared at the floor for a second, breathing slow. Then he sat down on the cot, resting his arm across his lap. Bicep angled up. He didn’t look at you, just mumbled:
“C’mere, then. ‘Fore I change my damn mind.”
You climbed into his lap, straddling his thighs, your panties already damp. He didn’t move, didn’t talk—just tensed his arm a little when your thighs bracketed it. The hard curve of his muscle met your soaked heat perfectly. You whimpered.
“Daryl flinched. “Shit. You really—? Jesus.”
You started moving. Soft, slow grinds. Nothing dramatic, just slick fabric dragging against thick muscle while his body sat tense and frozen.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered. “You don’t have to do anything—just let me—”
The first grind makes you gasp—his bicep thick and firm between your legs, pressing up perfectly into the throbbing mess of your cunt.
You moaned when he flexed beneath you—unintentionally or not, it made your hips buck. Your clit throbbed against the pressure. It was too good. Too much.
“Oh my God,” you whimper, hips stuttering.
Daryl’s hands gripped your waist before he even realized he was touching you. His voice was ragged. “You’re… leakin’ through. So fuckin’ wet. That all for me?”
Daryl groans low. “Shit. That feel good, baby?”
You nod frantically. Didn’t even try to hide your whimper, rocking harder now—dragging your soaked core over that thick swell of muscle, your arousal soaking through the fabric. His bicep flexes beneath you. On purpose this time.
You moan.
“Y’like that?” he mutters, mouth against your neck. “Jus’ rubbin’ yourself on me?”
Your hips roll. Hump. Grind. You’re practically dripping, rubbing yourself raw on the edge of release, gasping every time he tenses just to make it worse.
“You gonna make a mess on me?” he growls. “That what y’want? Gonna soak my fuckin’ arm, sweetheart?”
“Y-yes—please—”
“Dirty lil’ thing ain’t ya baby?” he murmurs. “Get it hen. Get off on me. Use me.”
You do. You can’t stop. You’re moaning his name, shaking, thighs clenching tight around his arm as you chase that high, so wet and desperate it’s obscene.
And when you came, you shattered. Hips jerking, breath caught in your throat, Daryl murmuring “That’s it, baby, let go for me” while you grind out every last wave of it.
You collapse forward, panting, still trembling.
He licked his lips. “Didn’t know I could do that for ya.”
You’re breathless. “Your arms are—wow.”
His smirk grows. “Good thing y’ain’t seen what else I can do with ‘em.”

Uncle Stack’s Wild Day Off. 💰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Modern!Au Elias “Stack” Moore, Elijah “Smoke” Moore X Annie Moore, Jordyn Moore(S&A daughter)
Word count: 1.5k
Authors note: I apologize if the AU description is confusing. 😅 I just wanted to make it clear we ain’t on no Alabama type shit. This is a lil cute fluffy blurb I came up with. As an auntie, I can relate to all of this so I wanted to share. And let me know if yall want more stuff like this.
Tumblr media
It starts with syrup.
Sticky, sweet, and halfway across her cheek.
“Unc-leee,” little Jordyn whines from across the table, eyes wide and cheeks puffed like she’s about to explode into laughter. “You said I could pour it!”
Stack wipes his mouth with a napkin and leans forward, brow raised. “And I did. But you said you knew when to stop.”
She looks down at the cartoon pool of maple flooding her pancakes, plate, and a little corner of the table. “I thought I did.”
He chuckles low, that familiar gravel-deep sound that always makes her giggle. “C’mon, syrup queen. Eat up before this place bans us.”
They’re tucked into a booth at Ruby’s Diner—one of the last places in the city with booths high enough to hide from the world and a jukebox old enough to make Stack nostalgic. Jordyn kicks her feet under the table, her tiny black sneakers thudding against his boots.
“You think Mama would let me dye my hair blue?” she asks, mouth full of pancake.
Stack’s fork pauses mid-air. “You ask your mama that, you better be ready to hear ‘no’ before you finish the sentence.”
“Papa said maybe when I’m older.”
He nods, chewing. “That’s code for ‘when you’re thirty.’” Jordyn giggles again, tipping her head like she’s caught on to a secret.
After breakfast, they head to the arcade—Stack’s idea, though he tells her she “wore him down with her big eyes and syrup bribes.” Truth is, he had the whole day mapped out since last week when Smoke casually said, “She been asking about you, man. Wants some one-on-one time.”
Now they’re in the neon glow of the game room, Jordyn’s face lit like a carnival bulb. Stack exchanges a twenty for a fistful of coins and follows her from skee-ball to air hockey to a chaotic driving game she insists she knows how to play. She drives them both off a digital cliff three times and cackles like it’s the best thing ever.
“Uncle Stack, you drive worse than me,” she teases, swinging her little body out of the seat.
“That’s slander,” he deadpans, straightening his shoulders like he’s offended. “I drive like a legend.”
“You drive like someone’s grandpa!”
His mock gasp makes her laugh so hard she hiccups.
Hours pass in a haze of flashing lights and sugar. He buys her a blue slushie—against better judgment—and wins her a giant plush octopus with his precision aim at the basketball game. She names it “Sir Wiggles.” Stack pretends to hate the name, but he buckles the thing into the back seat like it’s a VIP.
They end up at the park just before sunset. Jordyn’s arms stretch wide as she races ahead, spinning in circles through the tall grass like she’s chasing the wind. Stack strolls behind, hands in pockets, smile tucked under his beard.
“Uncle Stack!” she calls. “Race me to the top of the jungle gym!”
He raises a brow. “I’m not tryna break a hip today, baby girl.”
“You said you were a legend!”
He snorts. “A driving legend. Not a monkey-bar legend.”
Still, he jogs after her. Pretends to try. Pretends to lose.
They sit at the top once she’s conquered it, Jordyn perched like royalty on her throne of metal bars, the octopus half-dragging behind them. She looks up at him with quiet wonder in her eyes—the kind that always undoes him, no matter how many walls he pretends to have.
“Uncle Stack,” she says, suddenly soft. “You think when I’m big, I can be brave like you and Papa?”
He leans back, arms stretching behind his head. “You already are.”
She squints, not believing him.
He taps her chest. “Brave don’t mean you don’t get scared. It means you do what needs doin’ anyway. You—” he gently tugs a curl that’s come loose from her puff— “got more brave in you than you know.”
Her smile could break clouds.
By the time they return home, the sky is streaked with lavender and gold. Smoke’s on the porch with Annie, both of them watching with matching smiles as Jordyn tumbles out of the car like a storm, Sir Wiggles the octopus dragging beside her.
“Look what Uncle Stack won me!” she yells. “And I had a slushie! And pancakes! And I BEAT HIM at the driving game!”
Smoke smirks, arms crossed. “That so?”
Stack grumbles, grabbing the last of her wrappers from the passenger seat. “Don’t listen to her. She played dirty.”
“You let her win?” Annie teases.
Stack glances at Jordyn, who’s doing a victory dance on the porch.
“Nah,” he says, grinning. “She earned it.”
Annie kisses his cheek. “Thanks for takin’ her out today.”
He nods, quieter now, watching Jordyn with a weight in his chest that feels like love and something older.
“Yeah,” he murmurs, smiling. “It was good for both of us.”
Smoke tosses him a look—knowing and brotherly. Stack catches it, nods once. No words needed.
As Jordyn runs inside yelling for chocolate milk, Stack leans on the porch rail, sunset cutting across his eyes.
Best damn day off he’s had in years.
The porch creaks beneath them, soft and familiar. The day’s heat is cooling now, cicadas starting to sing in the trees. Stack sits down in the weathered rocking chair, arms draped loose over the armrests, a half-drained beer sweating on the porch rail beside him. Smoke’s got his feet propped up on the step, one hand idly bouncing a tennis ball against the wood post.
Inside, Jordyn is loudly explaining Sir Wiggles’ “backstory” to Annie like she’s pitching a Marvel movie.
Stack chuckles under his breath. “She really said the octopus has a secret twin that lives underground and only comes out when the moon’s full.”
Smoke huffs a laugh, shaking his head. “Man, where she get this stuff?”
Stack doesn’t even hesitate. “You.”
Smoke stops bouncing the ball. “What?”
“C’mon,” Stack says, leveling a slow look his way. “You used to swear you had a twin trapped in a mirror that only I could see. Like I wasn’t the damn twin!”
Smoke pauses, grins slow. “Damn. I did, huh?”
Stack just nods like exactly.
They sit in silence for a moment, listening to Jordyn shriek with laughter inside.
“She’s got both of us in her,” Smoke says, voice a little lower now. “Clear as day.”
“Yeah,” Stack agrees. “God help y’all.”
Smoke smirks. “She’s got my mouth and your stubbornness. Worst possible combo.”
“Nah,” Stack counters. “She’s got your mood swings and my bad attitude. That’s the apocalypse right there.”
They both laugh, that deep-chested sound only brothers make when they’re remembering something that hit them sideways the first time.
Annie’s voice chimes in from behind the screen door. “You’re both wrong.”
They turn in sync.
“She’s got your sarcasm,” Annie says to Stack, pointing, “and his unpredictability.” She looks at Smoke. “But she throws shade like both of y’all owe her money.”
Stack raises his beer. “She do that little head tilt when she’s mad?”
Smoke sighs, nodding. “Like a villain in training. Yesterday she told me I wasn’t ‘emotionally intelligent enough’ to comment on her snack choices.”
Annie throws her hands up. “She’s eight, y’all.”
“Eight going on federal indictment,” Stack mutters, and they all crack up.
“I told her to clean her room last week,” Annie says, coming outside and leaning against the post, arms crossed. “You know what she said?”
“Please tell me it wasn’t ‘I’m setting boundaries.’” Stack groans.
“Worse. She said she was ‘centering herself for clarity before engaging in oppressive labor.’”
Stack coughs into his drink. Smoke wheezes.
“She called chores oppressive labor?” Smoke asks between laughs.
“Deadass,” Annie says. “And then walked away humming like a monk.”
“She’s you with better vocabulary,” Stack says to Smoke.
“She’s you with sass and a grudge,” Smoke fires back.
“She’s both of y’all with a dash of me just trying to survive,” Annie declares, shaking her head.
Inside, Jordyn is now narrating a dramatic octopus rescue mission. Her voice rises and falls with theatrical flair.
“She gon’ run the world one day,” Smoke says softly.
“She gon’ burn it down first,” Stack adds, but there’s pride in his voice.
Annie smiles, just a little tired. “Only if we survive raising her.”
They all go quiet for a beat.
The screen door creaks again.
“Uncle Stack?” Jordyn pokes her head out, curls wild, octopus still clutched in one arm. “Can I have more chocolate milk if I promise to do yoga before bed?”
Stack blinks. “What kind of trade-off negotiation is this?”
Smoke narrows his eyes. “Did she just ask you for chocolate milk like I ain’t her papa?”
Stack smirks. “Mmhmm. Like I’m the department of beverages and you don’t even exist.”
“She bold,” Smoke mutters.
“Bold don’t even cover it,” Annie says, shaking her head. “That child been bypassing your authority since kindergarten.”
Jordyn waits at the door, unbothered by the scrutiny.
Stack points a warning finger, sighs. “One cup. One. And don’t tell your daddy what you put in the last one.”
Jordyn’s grin is nothing short of villainous. “Deal.”
Then she’s gone again, sprinting for the fridge like she owns it.
Smoke groans into his hands. “She really just iced me out like I wasn’t sittin’ ten feet away.”
“Stack privilege,” Stack says with a shrug. “It’s real.”

day 17 of the apocalypse, 3 weeks after the first outbreak.
you had lasted this long purely by camping out in the back of your car, driving somewhere more remote to avoid the infected and rationing whatever you'd managed to bring in from your kitchen at the beginning of it all. but as supplies got low and you were down to your last water bottle, you were forced to venture out into the nearby woodland, gathering whatever you could forage from the streams and bushes. you knew absolutely nothing about surviving out here. you couldn’t hunt and could barely light a fire. the first day of winter was in less than a month and you had no real shelter to keep you warm. you had no idea which berries were safe to eat or how to filter water. all you had was your kitchen silverware for protection and your best winter jacket for the weather.
you’d last about 2 weeks out here at best, and that’s without the fucking zombies.
you'd been walking for about an hour since leaving your car, and to be honest, you didn’t think you could find your way back now. everything looked the same. you had found only a pocketful of what you could only guess was edible, and a protein bar from the pocket of a dead guy’s jeans. every single noise scared the hell out of you. and the bite marks on his neck raised your adrenaline tenfold.
thud. thud. snap.
footsteps. sticks breaking underfoot.
“who’s there?” you called out. “i’m- i’m serious, come any closer and… and… i’ll kill you!”, shouting now, cold hand gripping your rusted kitchen knife tightly.
you saw a huge figure behind the trunk of a nearby tree, and he chuckled lowly at your brave attempt to scare him away. “you don’t scare me, sweetheart”, the voice said, deep and rough, walking out from behind the tree, “thought y'were a rabbit or something - cute lil' thing, rustling in those bushes. and if i was infected, you’d be dead by now, with a mouth on you like that.”
he was an absolute giant of a man, 6 and a half foot at least and built like a brick shithouse. he was in full military gear, skull mask over his face, armed with a rifle in hand and knives strapped to his chest and belt. he approached you slowly, palms facing you like he was trying not to spook a stray cat. part of you wondered if you were hallucinating - you'd not been sleeping well from the nightmares of the infected night after night.
“no use shouting, anyway - they’ll find you straight away making all that noise.” he continued, leaves crunching under his black boots, walking closer, “what’s a girl like you doing out 'ere, all alone?”
you were frozen in place, like a deer in headlights. he was already intimidating as fuck without the massive armoury hanging round his waist, but now he was so close you could feel his breath on your face. a thought crossed your mind that if he tried to kill you now, there would be absolutely nothing you could do to stop him. it made a shiver run down your back.
his gloved hand reached out to hold your chin. you looked up at him, eyes welling up from the pure fear that ran through you.
“lost?” he said quietly, tilting his head to get a proper look at you.
you nodded slowly.
“well, you won’t get far with that old thing, love” he smirked through the mask, eyeing the blade in your hand. “here, i’ll take you back to camp with me, make you a proper meal, yeah? when did you eat last?”
you engaged in some light small talk on the way, finding out he was called “ghost” and he used to serve in a special operations unit for a private military company. i guess it made sense that the best survivors would be the soldiers. you mentioned how you’d been living in your car for the past two weeks, which seemed to amuse him. he probably thought you were just some dumb girl who’d somehow managed to scrape through until now.
he wasn’t wrong, really.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
his camp was much nicer than the back of your car.
it wasn't far from where he'd found you. they had lots of weapons and food and beds. and people. there must of been about 10 men in total. the infected weren’t really an issue with their impressive arsenal. there was a large fence surrounding the camp and the men took it in turns to kill anything that tried getting inside. it was pretty clear that ghost was closest to one of the other ex-military guys called "soap". they sat together when they ate and stayed up late at night talking together around the fire - matching dog tags glinting in the dim light. you often watched them through your tent door - enjoying their company but not wanting to interrupt their conversation. you listened as they talked deeply, recounting their time serving together, telling stories of bravery and bloodshed. it became your routine to fall asleep listening to them.
after about 3 or 4 weeks, following the first snowfall, you’d adjusted to life in the camp. soap had taught you a few things and often spent the mornings taking you hunting or showing you how to use the guns - a hand on your waist as he lined you up for the kill shot. he had a sweet nature and silly charm to him, telling you ridiculous jokes that only made you laugh because they were so stupid. you would never tell him that though - he thought you found him hilarious.
however, it was ghost you’d grown closest to, giving you anything and everything you needed. he was mysterious and that drew you to him. one time, he took you down to the river to wash the cookware and yourselves, and you'd caught a glimpse of him pulling off his clothes and mask, blonde hair and muscles seeing the light of day. you couldn't deny it - he was gorgeous.
he often checked on you in the evenings, making sure you’d settled in okay. he sat next to your bed, running a gloved hand over your hair, rubbing small circles into your scalp.
“you like the boys?” he’d ask, “they treating you okay?”
and you’d nod, just like you’d do every night.
“not scared, are you, doll?”
you shook your head.
“good. just making sure.”
and with that, he’d leave, heading to his own tent to rest, or out to guard the fence.
but one night, before he got up to get some sleep, you grabbed his hand. he looked back at you, dark eyes watching yours.
“stay?” you whispered.
and he did, without a word. stripping off his heavy gear and perching next to you in bed, rough camo trousers scratching against your bare shoulder.
and he stayed, just like you asked. watching over you like a dog and keeping you safe.
sometime in the night, you’d turned to face him where he sat, resting an arm over his thigh. but he didn’t push you off. he just let you rest - your warm breath causing a dampness throughout the tent.
it was only when the winter sunlight streamed through the tent that you realised he really did stay - all night. you opened your eyes to see he’d settled in next to you, his sleeping body alongside yours in the small camp bed, your arm still around him.
and when you tried to pull yourself away out of embarrassment, he pulled it back, keeping it over his chest.
“for warmth, yeah?” he said quietly, voice all deep and sleepy.
and how could you argue with that? these were trying times, after all.
after a moment's silence, he said “you’re a pretty thing, love. always thought so, even when i first met you and you were all scared and dirty.” he continued, heavy eyes looking down at your vulnerable form. “soap thinks so too, but you’re mine, yeah? i found you - you’re mine.”
there was something about the possessive glint in his eye that showed you he really meant it - his gaze trailing down from your face to your uncovered hips that had shuffled out the sheets in your sleep.
"cm'ere" he said, taking your arm in his grasp and pulling you towards him. "i mean it, love. do you wan' to be mine?" eyes watching your face to see how you'd react to his question. your faces were close now, closer than they'd ever been. he'd looked after you so nicely, giving you everything you needed, protecting you from harm all this time. you couldn't help but agree with him. how could anyone not fall for this attractive man who cared for you so much? and the feeling of his chest under your hand made you fall for him even harder.
"yeah," you whispered against his masked face "...yours."
your small hand reached up to reveal his lips under his mask. he pulled you in, kissing you softly. it was short but there was so much behind it. you could tell he wanted more but he was holding back. he didn't want to accidentally push you away by moving too fast. he pulled back to look at you, hands cupping your soft face, which was still clouded with sleep.
"you're so beautiful, you know that?" he spoke so softly now. it was like the walls he'd put up had fell instantly. he just wanted a moment to be yours. no one else's. not the camp's cook or the guard or the hunter. just yours and nothing else.
you pulled yourself back to his face, kissing him again but soon moving your lips down to kiss his chin, and then his neck. but you didn't get far before he stopped you.
"no, no, love. let me take care of you - you deserve it." he said, turning you around so you were on your back, head resting on your plush pillow as his touch relaxed you.
it was almost as if for just a moment, you weren't in the middle of a fucking nightmare. you were at home, in your own bed. maybe you'd met him at work or out on a date - anywhere that wasn't in a forest full of zombies. and he'd taken you out for dinner a few times and you'd decided he was sweet enough to be kissing down your body, rolling his tongue over your nipples.
but here you were, in a camp full of strangers, being transported by this man who you barely knew, covered only by the walls of a thin tent. but it just felt so right to let him take you like this. you trusted him with your life. and in return he worked your body like magic. his touch was so gentle - yet his skin was so rough compared to your own.
"you want me inside you, baby?" he spoke to you so softly, having kissed down to the top of your underwear now. his eyes watched you, waiting for your permission to carry on.
"please," you replied, "i want you."
that was all he needed to hear. he pulled off his shirt and your underwear, tossing them both to the side. he admired your body shamelessly, eyes tracing the outline of your waist and your body. you couldn't help but do the same, entranced by the way his muscles practically glowed in the light that came through the tent. he was built like a rugby player, pure muscle but with a good layer of fat on top to smooth everything out. you watched as he unbuttoned his pants and pulled out his cock.
he was huge. you knew he was a big guy but you weren't expecting it to apply to all of him. it was definitely bigger than anyone you'd ever been with. his tip was an angry shade of red from how hard he was, precum running down his shaft. noticing the expression on your face, he reassured you.
"don't worry, i'll be gentle with you."
he lined himself up with your entrance, your wetness being enough to allow himself to push slowly inside. it stretched you more than you ever had been, causing you to hiss as it dipped inside you. he bent forward down to kiss you sweetly, silencing your pained noises, shushing you each time his lips left yours. he continued to move in until he bottomed out inside of you.
"you okay?" he grunted, "tell me when to move, love."
you paused for a moment, adjusting to his size before nodding to let him know he could start moving.
he didn't fuck like you expected him to. you thought a guy like him would be railing you like an animal, but no. he made love to you, his slow but deep thrusts hitting all the perfect spots in your gummy walls. it was pure bliss, and he thought so too, struggling to keep back his grunts each time he thrust into you.
"fucckkkk baby," he'd say, dog tag hanging down as he fucked you, "your pussy is so tight, gripping me so good". he hooked your legs behind his back and moved his big hands onto your hips to hold you in place. " is it good for you too, doll? you look so pretty with that fucked-out look on your face." he went on, smirking at you like he was proud of his work.
you couldn't even form words, let alone piece together a decent response. he felt amazing, pulling all the way out so only his tip was inside of you and then pushing all the way back in again, until you were an absolute drooling mess, jaw slack and whining on his cock. and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, he moved his hand between your legs and rubbed lazy circles on your clit with his thumb. almost instantly your pussy started pulsing around him - with you blubbering out incoherent swears and moans - having sent you completely over the edge in a matter of minutes. he wasn't far away either - your clenching making his hips stutter back and forth as he helped you ride through your orgasm. you could of swore you were seeing stars by the time he pulled out of you and came over your stomach with a moan, pressing his forehead to yours.
it took you both a few minutes to come back down again, giggling and kissing his lips once more. your arms found their way around his neck, holding him close to you. you were both a panting mess, clothes discarded across the tent floor and the scent of sex heavy in the air.
"my girl- you're gorgeous," he managed to huff out, catching his breath. " 'm never getting over you."
when news broke that a zombie apocalypse was spreading, you had no idea it would lead to this hunk of a man in bed with you - spoiling you and loving you like this. you weren't complaining, though. not at all. at least something good came from it.
he cleaned you up so carefully, being sure not to press too hard on your sensitive body. and when he'd made sure you were okay, he brought you something to eat and led down with you, stroking up and down on your back, drawing shapes and letters on your skin. part of you couldn't believe this was the same guy who you watched shoot a zombie in the face through the fence the other day. his hands were so gentle, always cautious not to hurt you under his touch.
and as your eyes grew heavy again, revelling in his embrace, you heard him say something into your skin.
"simon," he said quietly, face buried in your neck. "my real name's simon."

You try to forget about it.
This is not a particularly easy task when you wake up and Lando’s side of the bed empty, obviously having spent the night somewhere else. You’re not surprised by this, hurt maybe. Not that you have much of a right to be.
Anyway, you’re only sharing the bed because of Lando’s impromptu decision to bring you here. He hadn’t wanted to put you up in a room on the other side of the hotel, and you’ve never had an issue sharing a bed. You’re thinking that might change tonight, depending.
You hope it won’t, that’s something at least.
You’re prepared not to see him for most of the day. You’re prepared for more time to stew in your anger, to turn his actions over and over in your head until you’re sick of thinking about them and might be able to stand his face again. That’s what you’re prepared for, but Lando’s never really been a rule follower—
He finds you on the beach, when it’s still early enough that you’re basically alone. Everyone else still hungover, sleeping in. Max and Pietra are off doing their own thing today. So, just you and Lando. Alone.
You’d be pleased any other day.
Not today.
You squint up at him, in shorts that ride up his thighs and a plain t-shirt. His curls unbrushed, a small but very purple hickey on the underside of his jaw that you notice immediately. You nod perfunctorily at him in greeting, a pang of something in your ribcage. Then you turn back to your book. You pay him little attention as he settles into the lounge chair beside you.
You’re not trying to be shitty, but you feel like you’ve not even had enough time to think last night over, never mind figure out what it is you’re going to say to him. Max and Pietra had helped a lot last night when you’d sat at the foot of their bed and tried not to cry. Max had told you in no uncertain terms that you needed to put Lando in his place, and whatever notion he’d got into his head wasn’t any kind of excuse.
You’re not sure you’re brave enough for that quite yet. Or, perhaps you’re not sure you’re calm enough. You know Max wants to tear him a new one, but you’d held him off. Knowing the both of you would regret it later. Whatever last night was about, you know Lando wouldn’t have meant to hurt you like he did.
Maybe it’s stupid to assume the best of him, but he’s your best friend. He’s Lando.
He’s certainly given you the benefit of the doubt before.
Anyway.
The silence is palpable between you. Tangible, as he sits quiet beside you and you ignore him with purpose. Something jealous and terrible churning in your stomach as you try to ignore him there and cant. He must know, must understand, because he is silent too.
Mere minutes that feel like hours stretching out in front of you pass. You hear every fidget, every tap of his fingers, every soft hum from his mouth. He wants, desperately, for you to be the first to break. But you find you cant… wont… you think if anything he must be the one to stew, the one to fold.
“I’m sorry,” he says, apropos of nothing.
You grace him with the twist of your mouth, a hum that is almost no noise at all. Wait for him to continue.
He does, says "I'm sorry," again.
You snap your book closed, suddenly angry as you direct your glare toward him. He cringes under your attention, head ducking into his shoulders in something like shame. Still, you're not sure how serious he is? If he gets it? You think he has to, you think perhaps Max has had words already. Even though you'd told him not to.
You stare at him for a long moment, then look away when words fail you. Looking instead, for a longer moment, at the glittering waves lapping against the shore. You let the noise calm the rising anger that seems to be lodged at the base of your throat. You don't have to look to know Lando is looking at you with those wet eyes of his, pleading with you even when you're not looking.
You snap back to him again, not ready to let go of all the anger.
"You're sorry?", you question, incredulous.
His mouth turns immediately into a thin, hard line at your frustration. You know he's fighting off annoyance. You're not too proud to concede that his response makes you even angrier. He hasn't said anything yet, but still who is he to act like you're in the wrong?
You frown deeply, "Don't look at me like that."
You're not particularly careful to keep your voice down, even though his eyes cut briefly and obviously to a group that are sitting a fair way behind you. Anyway, if he didn't want people to hear all about this then maybe he shouldn't have done it.
"I'm not looking at you like anything."
"You are," you bite.
He frowns and shuts his mouth. You see the muscles of his jaw working regardless. You try to ignore the faintly visible hickey and the feeling in your gut that's there again.
You continue without waiting for his annoyance to ease, leaning into his space without quite meaning to, "I'm not sure what the hell happened last night Lando, but I know that you know that it hurt my feelings. Alright. I'm not an idiot."
He sniffs, his expression having given way to a slight sheepishness when you look now, "I don't think you're an idiot," he sighs then, "And I'm sorry. It was dumb."
You shrug, watching as his eyes soften at the edges, whatever adversarial emotion he'd been harboring finally leeching out of him. You don't think he's emotionally immature, not by any stretch of the imagination. You just think he's stubborn and emotional and it takes him a bit of time to work past the initial feeling that he's being attacked.
You think he's lucky to have you. To have the patience that you and Max are willing to grant him.
"It's not fair, Lan. To bring me out here only to ignore me at a club where I don't know anyone."
He nods, "I know. I was being a dickhead."
"You were."
"I was," his chest, bare of his t-shirt, you're realising now, heaves with a steadying breath, "I thought— I thought something really fucken' stupid. And I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry for making you feel like I did."
You nod resolutely, then you give him the barest hint of a smile, "You better be, yeah."
You decide that you didn't quite tear him a new one, as he gives you one of those small little smiles he favours, but you're sure Max will at his earliest convenience (if he hadn't already this morning). At the very least that sick feeling in your chest from last night is starting to ebb and you're starting to be able to look at him again.
"I am," he says, "Sorry."
You nod, mouth twisting as you reach forward to take his hand. Slotting your fingers in with his and using your knuckles to squeeze. He squeezes back and then uses the pad of his thumb to smooth across your skin. And maybe it's not all fixed, all better—
but this is something.
This is better than that thing in the pit of your stomach.

REBLOG FOR A KiSS
Tumblr media
the rooftop is warm with summer air, the stars blinking shyly above the quiet hum of the city.
the party downstairs is still going, but neither of you care. not when the sky looks like this. not when you’re beside each other like this. not when the night feels like a secret shared between two hearts that never really stopped beating for one another.
you sit next to sunghoon, shoulder to shoulder. his hoodie sleeves are pulled down over his hands like always, and he’s got that distant look again. the one that makes you ache a little.
you glance over at him. “what are you thinking about?”
he blinks slowly. then, “do you think there’s a version of us… somewhere out there, that never lost each other?”
your breath catches. “sunghoon…”
he doesn’t look at you.
you reach for his hand under the fabric, threading your fingers through. “i think there’s a version of us right now that’s still here. still trying.”
that’s when he finally turns.
his eyes are glassy. lower lashes wet. he tries to blink it away, but a tear slips down anyway.
“i’m sorry,” he mumbles, voice cracking. “i don’t—i didn’t mean to ruin tonight—”
“hey,” you whisper, heart clenching. “you didn’t ruin anything.”
he shakes his head, but the tears come anyway—thick and quiet and heartbreaking. he hides his face in his hands like he’s ashamed of it.
you move closer instantly, gently pulling his hands away from his face. your thumbs stroke his knuckles as you cup his cheeks with both hands.
“sunghoon,” you say softly. “look at me, baby.”
his lashes flutter, red-rimmed eyes blinking up at you. and god, he looks so young like this. like a boy who’s been brave for too long. like someone who just needs to be held.
“i’m so tired,” he chokes out. “i don’t know why it hit me now. i just… i miss when things were easy. when it was just us. i—i wanted to protect this. protect you.”
you hush him gently, thumbs brushing his damp cheeks. “you don’t have to protect me from your feelings. you’re allowed to cry. you’re allowed to fall apart with me.”
he leans into your palms like they’re the only steady thing in his world. his lip trembles a little. “i hate crying in front of people.”
you smile softly, brushing a tear from under his eye. “i’m not people. i’m yours.”
his breath hitches at that, a broken little sound in the back of his throat.
so you scoot even closer, tucking his head into the crook of your shoulder. your arms wrap around him completely now, warm and tight, and you kiss the crown of his head once. then again. and again.
“you’re okay,” you whisper into his hair. “you’re safe. i’ve got you, baby. i’ll always have you.”
he holds you like he’s afraid you’ll disappear, but you don’t. you just keep rocking him gently, like the world outside doesn’t matter. like he’s your whole universe.
and in a way, he is.
after a while, the sobs slow down. the hiccups turn to quiet breathing. and his fingers curl into the hem of your shirt like a child clinging to something soft in the dark.
“thank you,” he whispers hoarsely.
you kiss his forehead this time. “anytime. always.”
he pulls back just enough to look at you, face still puffy but calmer now. “you make everything feel okay.”
you grin. “that’s because we’re two drifters, remember? off to see the world.”
he sniffles. “moon river?”
you nod. “you and me.”
and he smiles, all teary-eyed and soft. “i love you.”
your hands slide back up to cradle his face again, and you kiss his nose, then the corner of his lips.
“i love you more.”
he closes his eyes and lets himself melt into you completely.
and beneath the moonlight, two tired hearts rest against each other. not broken. not lost.
just finally safe.

“Fortune favors the brave. The world does not wait for those who stand still...
In the dynamic tide of economics, fortune does not favor hesitation—it rewards those who move forward with intention and purpose. Thank you.”
The sound of polite applause filled the classroom, cutting through the nervous tension that had been clawing at your chest since the start of your presentation. You exchanged a look with Sean, whose face was a mix of pride and relief. Weeks of sleepless nights, endless revisions, and caffeine-fueled discussions had paid off. Finally, it was over.
As the professor dismissed the class, you and Sean shared a high-five, the kind that stung your palm but left you grinning like an idiot.
“You want a ride to work? I’m heading that way anyway,” Sean offered as the two of you exited the lecture hall.
“Sure, thanks,” you replied, fishing your phone out of your bag to check the time. The sight of your wallpaper made you pause. It was a candid mirror selfie you’d taken in the grocery store a few weeks ago, Jungkook holding a grocery bag in one hand, his tattooed arm possessively wrapped around your shoulders.
Your thumb hovered over the screen. Lately, you’d been trying to stay more organized, a goal you had set for yourself after your talk with Jungkook a couple of days ago. Alarms, sticky notes, even your wallpaper—anything to keep your forgetful brain in check.
Before you could type, his name popped up on your screen.
nextdoor<3 [11:05 PM]: Going to work now? 😀
You smiled, already typing a response.
You [11:05 PM]: Heyyy! I was just about to text you. Yeah, catching a ride with Sean
Sean was busy rummaging through his pockets for his car keys as you walked toward the open parking space.
nextdoor<3 [11:06 PM]: No need. Turn your pretty ass to your left. 😋
Your head snapped to the left, and you let out a small gasp... there he was, leaning against his car with a wide grin. His hands were tucked into his pockets, and he looked so effortlessly handsome and cool in his casual oversized white shirt and acid washed jeans.
Sean followed your gaze. Before you could explain, Jungkook was already striding toward you, with his stupid grin.
“Hi,” he greeted casually, his voice a little chipper as his eyes locked with yours.
“Hey! Um, this is Sean, you know him…” You gestured between them, trying to mask your flustered state.
“Sean, YN’s classmate and case study partner,” Sean introduced himself, offering a cheerful smile and an outstretched hand.
“Jungkook,” he replied, shaking Sean’s hand firmly. “YN’s boyfriend. I’m here to pick her up.”
Your eyes widened as your head whipped toward Jungkook. Boyfriend? He didn’t even glance at you, keeping his focus on Sean, who looked equally surprised.
“Oh! I didn’t know YN had a boyfriend,” Sean said, his confusion evident, looking at you with a wide smile.
“Uh, well… You never asked!” you laughed nervously, playfully tapping Jungkook’s shoulder. He didn’t so much as flinch, his attention still fixed on Sean.
Sean chuckled. “Well, take care you guys! Nice meeting you Jungkook! See you later, YN!” He waved and headed off toward his car.
Once Sean was out of earshot, you turned to Jungkook. “Boyfriend? What was that?” your tone was clearly curious and surprised.
He kept his grin and shrugged nonchalantly, taking your bag off your shoulder and grabbing the books from your hands. Without a word, he started walking toward his car with a smirk.
“Jungkook!” you called after him, your tone rising as you trailed behind him. He opened the backseat to place your things inside before moving to the passenger side to open the door for you.
Him not answering you was making you a little frustrated, and you stood there, arms crossed, refusing to get in.
“Are you mad?” he asked finally, his tone calm but his wide teasing grin was plastered all over his stupidly handsome face.
“I’m not. Yet. But if you keep ignoring me, I will be.”
His smirk turned into a wide, bunny smile. “Baby, you’re my girl. I don’t care if you haven’t figured it out by now. Now, get in the car, my princess baby gorgeous angel, or you’re going to be late for work. Unless… you want to call in sick and spend my day off with me instead?”
“Yeah, something is wrong with you” you playfully sighed and slid into the car, but as you did, you bumped your head against the doorframe. It wasn’t hard—actually, it was quite soft. As you looked up, you found his hand already there, gently covering your head as if he were used to this. Instead of saying "oopsie," you just smiled and rolled your eyes as a thank you because this wasn’t new.
He shut the door behind you, his laughter soft as he walked around to the driver’s side.
“Seriously, though. I told you, I don't like bothering you.” you asked once he’d settled into his seat.
"I also told you that I’m here. Bother me? My girl could never bother me. You just gotta figure out how to need me,” he said, pulling down the sun visor over your head as the midday sun began to shine through.
“Who says I’m your girl?” You raised an eyebrow as you removed your hoodie. The midday summer heat was starting to make you comfortable in just your tank top underneath.
“You did,” he replied with a grin as he ran a hand through his dark hair.
You paused, trying to remember. “When?”
“A couple of days ago, when you came on my fingers, I thought it was pretty clear—”
“Jungkook!” you shrieked, hands flying to cover his mouth as heat flooded your face. "What is wrong with you!"
He laughed against your palms, pulling them away gently.
“What’s wrong with me is that I’m getting greedy,” he admitted, his tone softening. “I know I said I didn’t need answers from you, but that doesn’t mean I’ll stop saying and doing what I want.” He cocked his head, his gaze locking with yours. “Kiss me right now if you don’t like it.”
Your gasp at his audacity. “Wow. I want my patient, gentle Jungkook back.”
“Don’t summon him. You get this version now.” He gestured to himself with a chuckle.
“And who am I talking to right now?”
“You want to know?” he murmured, leaning closer. His gaze dropped to your lips, and your pulse quickens. He inched closer, his breath brushing against your cheeks.
You froze and gulped, which made him smirk when he saw.
You wanted to roll your eyes at how easily he could make you feel this way, but then, he claimed your mouth as if it were his.
His lips moved with determination. Confident. Slow. The flick of his tongue against your lower lip sent a shiver through you, and you couldn’t help but surrender to his kiss. You parted your lips, inviting him in like a welcomed guest, and he decisively came to take residence, as though your tongue were his home and this was no mere visit.
His tongue possessed yours with patience, as if he had all the time in the world.
To taste you. To tease you. So slowly, so surely.
Jungkook knows how to kiss, and he knows it well.
The proof lay in the way your hands instinctively reached for the hem of his shirt, pulling him closer. In response, his lips wandered down your neck, unhurried yet utterly consuming, moving lower and lower until they reached your chest. His tongue flicked over your skin just above the curve of your breasts, drawing a soft moan from you as your grip on his shirt tightened, desperate to bring him closer.
“Jungkook…”
And just as you were about to lose yourself in him—
he pulled back.
huh?
His thumb brushed over your swollen lips, his tongue poking at his inner cheek.
You stared at him, wide-eyed, breathless, chest heaving, cheeks flushed.
“I told you, you’re my girl,” he said with finality, buckling your seatbelt before starting the car to drive you to work, grinning like an idiot while you’re still gasping for air.
🍻 after hours
The week flew by quickly, and your classes were becoming more relaxed as you focused solely on lectures, giving you more time to rest.
Work had been lighter too, with the full staff back. Your manager had kept her word, giving you an extra day off tomorrow now that your workmates were back from being sick.
Hours passed, and more customers trickled in. The bar filled with the usual noise and chaos, but you didn’t mind. You glanced at the clock—just two more hours until you could go home.
Thoughts of sleeping in, tangled up with Jungkook, ordering takeout, watching silly shows, chatting about your week, and doing absolutely nothing together kept you going.
You had just returned from the kitchen when you noticed the inner booth was now occupied. You quickly weaved through the tables, only to find…
Him, again?
Jungkook looked up at you, his familiar bunny smile stretching across his face. His nose scrunched, eyes crinkling at the corners.
“Huh?” you blinked in surprise. “What are you doing here?”
“Having a good time,” he replied smoothly, his voice like velvet. That black leather jacket he wore hugged him just right, over a plain white shirt, paired with jeans.
Omg. Seriously this man.
All you could think about was how good he’d feel against you later tonight. So firm, so warm.
“Jungkook, seriously!” You snapped out of your thoughts and tried to keep your cool, scanning the room. “Are you here with friends?”
“Nope,” he said, leaning back in the booth with that smug grin—that fucking grin— that made you want to smack him and kiss him all at once. “I’m here to pick my girl up. Couldn’t wait to see you. And…” His voice dropped, his gaze trailing over you shamelessly, “...I wanted to watch you work.”
“What are you on today!” You shoved his arm, fighting back the laugh that bubbled up, your cheeks burning. “You didn’t have to pick me up again! Also where is the goodie-softie Jungkook?”
He shook his head, a cocky grin spreading across his face. “He’s not here. You get this greedy Jungkook now.” His eyes are full of mischief.
"You can keep being miss independent, which you are, insisting you don’t need me for all you want, but like I said, I'm gonna do what I want to do. I’m done pretending I’m okay waiting around.”
He stared at you, eyeing you up and down, not even trying to hide it.
Your arms crossed, more for self-defense against the butterflies erupting in your chest than anything else. You narrowed your eyes at him. “Okay, seriously, stop looking at me like that.”
“Like what?” he asked, feigning innocence as he tilted his head, his lips curling in that trademark teasing smile.
“Like you’re going to eat me.”
His grin widened as he leaned forward, elbows resting on the table.
“Oh, I am.”
Your breath hitched, but you fought to keep your composure. “Then, baby, you have to be patient until we get home.”
Jungkook chuckled as he leaned back, slipping his hands into the pockets of his jacket, shaking his head. “Oh, baby, I’ve been patient for months. A few more hours is nothing.”
“Good,” you replied, though your voice wavered slightly. “Now I have to get back to work.”
Before turning away, you paused. “Do you want anything?”
He smirked, playing with his lip ring like he had all the time in the world. “You.”
“Jungkook…” You rolled your eyes, but the involuntary smile tugging at your lips gave you away.
“Just a root beer float, please.” He glanced at your name tag, “YN”, dragging out your name like it was the tastiest word to ever roll off his tongue.
The way your name slipped from his lips sent a rush of heat straight down your legs. “Coming right up,” you said, trying to keep your voice steady as you turned to head back toward the kitchen. But you couldn’t resist glancing at him over your shoulder.
You caught him staring, his eyes fixed on your ass, your tight skirt hugging every curve.
“Jungkook!” you hissed, shooting him a glare.
He just shrugged, his Cheshire cat grin widening.
--
When your shift finally ended, you didn’t bother changing out of your uniform, too eager to go home with him. Throwing on your jacket, you headed out, your coworker Rosie giving you a knowing smirk after all the blatant eye-fucking that had transpired throughout the evening between you and Jungkook.
You just blew her a kiss and waved.
Outside the bar, the night was cold, the wind biting at your legs as you spotted Jungkook standing where he’d waited for you last time. His hands were shoved into his pockets, his solid figure a stark contrast against the soft dark of the night.
As you approached, he stretched out his hand to you, his smile softening into something that made your chest ache. Without a word, you slipped your hand into his, and two of you walk swiftly toward his car, your strides charged with intent and urgency.
👁️👁️ dark brown eyes
The moment you slide into the passenger seat, Jungkook wastes no time. He leans in, cupping your face gently yet possessively, and kisses you deeply. His tongue slides into your mouth, exploring, making sure to taste every angle of you. A soft moan escapes you, and he groans in response, his hands gripping the base of your jaw just a little tighter.
He pulls away for a brief second, his forehead resting against yours as he catches his breath. But the break doesn’t last long—his lips are back on yours, this time sucking on your tongue, his own sliding against it in a way that makes your head spin.
Heat pools low in your belly, and you clench around nothing. You feel the ache between your thighs and press them together to soothe it.
“Fuck,” Jungkook groans, his voice rough and strained as he suddenly pulls away, his pupils blown wide with desire. “Let’s fucking go home right now before I lose it,” he says, his voice low and desperate as he buckles your seatbelt with hurried hands.
Without another word, he starts the car. The engine roars as he grips the steering wheel with one hand. You’re still catching your breath, your lips tingling from his kiss, as you watch him drive a little faster than usual. His eyes stay focused on the road, but you notice the subtle bob of his Adam's apple, as if he’s swallowing down words he can’t bring himself to say.
Your gaze shifts to his hands, gripping the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turn white. It’s as if he’s using every ounce of control to keep himself in check. And yet, with every stolen glance at him, the tension only grows stronger.
Twenty minutes later, as soon as he parks the car in your apartment lot, you fumble with your seatbelt, unbuckling it in record time. Before he can even react, you reach for him, pulling his face into a hungry kiss. It’s more sloppy and messy this time, your tongue trailing down his neck, licking, biting, and sucking at his pulse points, making his breath hitch. You know the way you’re marking his skin will leave evidence, but you don’t care. Neither does he.
The kiss deepens, and his need for control emerges. One of his hands cups the back of your neck, guiding you exactly how he wants, while the other finds your chest, firmly grasping your clothed breast. He kneads and squeezes, the pressure making you moan into his mouth.
You tug on his long locks, eliciting a guttural whimper, making you squirm in your seat. Suddenly, the blinding light of an approaching car floods the space, like a spotlight, as if you’ve been thrust onto a stage to perform. The two of you freeze, still panting, until the car passes and settles into its spot. But more cars follow, one by one, claiming the surrounding spaces.
“Baby,” he rasps against your lips, his voice strained, dripping with desire, “let’s go inside.” He kisses you again, his lips urgent and needy, before dragging his mouth to your neck. “Please.”
You’re both a mess, drunk on lust and each other. Without another word, you stumble out of the car, your steps hurried and deliberate as you head toward your apartment building.
Halfway up the stairs, as if drawn together by some invisible force, you’re back in his arms. His mouth crashes into yours, devouring you with fervor, while your bodies grind against each other with an almost primal urgency.
He slams you against the wall, pinning you with his solid frame. His hard erection presses into your stomach, and he grinds against you. Your hand slips down to touch him through his pants, making his head fall forward against your shoulder.
“Fuck,” he hisses, his hands tighten on your waist.
He trails open-mouthed kisses down your neck, and you feel your skin prickle from the sensation.
You try to stay quiet, but when his finger slides under your short skirt, brushing against the damp fabric of your soaked underwear, you instinctively bite down on his shoulder.
With ease, he pushes your underwear to the side and slides one finger, gliding over your slick slit, gathering the wetness that’s been pooling since you left the bar.
You move against him, needy and desperate, and he smiles against the kiss. "Goddamn...so fucking wet."
You feel another finger slowly slides inside, and you stop kissing him and gasp for air as he pushes deeper and deeper. He looks around to make sure no one’s getting a free show, but you need his mouth, so you hold his face with both hands and kiss him again.
In steady motion, he pumps his fingers inside, dragging them nice and slow, but it only makes you want more. When he curls them, hitting that spot, you bite your lip, stifling the moans as he bites and licks your earlobe, his breath hot against your skin.
With every stroke, your body shakes, and just when you feel the sudden knot breaking, his tongue slides into your mouth, swallowing your moans as you come—hard, shaking, with your legs giving way. But his hand grips your ass, keeping you steady as you whimper quietly in pleasure, while he moves slowly inside you, riding your high.
Then, he pulls his fingers out, bringing them to his lips, licking them clean before shoving them into you, his gaze is dark, undone.
You’re both breathing heavily when you suddenly hear a door opening and closing from the hallway, as if it’s your cue to keep walking and continue this tryst in your apartment.
Without missing a beat, he takes the lead, pulling you toward his door, his keys jangling in his hand as he unlocks it. In an instant, you’re both inside.
As soon as you enter his house, he wastes no time. Your jacket and shirt are discarded on the floor. He lifts you effortlessly, guiding you toward his bed, kissing you hungrily as you move.
He gently lays you down as if you're the most fragile thing, but as soon as your back hits the bed, he grabs your ankle, pulling you to the edge. Kneeling between your legs, his eyes burn with need as he prepares to feast on your body.
With one quick motion, he pulls off your panties and tosses them aside, leaving you in just your tight, short skirt.
“This fucking tease of a skirt. Do you know how many times I’ve imagined pushing this up and have you like this?“ he murmurs.
You spread your legs wider for him, and he hooks them over his shoulders, diving into your folds with a fervent hunger. His tongue moves with slow, deliberate precision. Your moans fill the room, his name and strings of curses tumbling from your lips as he devours you completely.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
The sinful sound of his mouth on your now dripping pussy fills the air. The knot in your stomach tightens, yet you crave more of him, so you press his head into your cunt, grinding against his face. It earns a deep, groan from him, sending shivers down your spine.
"Jungkook, I’m so cl—fucking coming again!" Your hands grip his hair, his shoulders, your tits, the blankets beneath you as your body shatters as you come.
"Uh-huh," he groans, his tongue lapping up your juices, licking you clean. Curses and his name echo in the room.
Your legs are still shaking when you feel him hover over you, kissing you slowly, making you taste yourself on his lips.
You lick your juices from his lips down to his chin—sweet and salty—before you feel him get on his knees, gripping the base of his thick, hard cock, pre-cum glistening in the soft glow of the night lamp.
You prop yourself up on your elbows, one hand curling around him, spreading the slick pre-cum over the sensitive tip. His sheer length and girth seem designed to destroy you completely.
What a sight—his mouth parted, eyes dark with raw hunger. And when he presses his thumb to your lips, you suck on it, desperate, obedient.
A hiss escapes him, sharp, followed by a long, broken whimper, like music to your ears.
"Baby, please," you whisper, though it comes out as begging, your voice cracking as you lay your head back down, your hand still pumping his cock.
“What do you want? Tell me,” he murmurs, cupping your face, the weight of his chest pressing you into the mattress.
“I want you,” you plead, grinding back against him. “Inside me. Please.”
He pauses, his gaze searching your face, as if trying to gauge whether you’re saying this out of need or if you’re truly certain. Many heated, nasty makeout sessions have passed between you, and though he knows your body has begged him for more, this is the first time you’ve ever said it aloud.
He’s grateful. He’s also scared. He also wants to cry.
“Are you sure? We don’t have to if you’re not ready—”
You cut him off with a desperate, hungry kiss.
“I’m sure. Please, I beg you. Fuck me, Jungkook. Please put your cock inside me.”
Without wasting time, he gets on his knees, and before you even realize it, he has opened a condom and rolled it on, his gaze locked on yours the entire time.
He towers over you. He brushes his tip between your folds, gathering your slickness.
Your cunt clenches with anticipation, and a sharp hiss escapes him. Then, he looks at you, as if silently asking for permission. You nod erratically.
"Please..."
He dips his head down, kissing you deeply, so deeply, and you moan, loud and sinful, the sound ripping from your throat as he finally enters you. It’s as if something inside him snaps. Jungkook fills you in one smooth, deliberate motion.
“Oh fuck so thick Jungk—". You gasp. A slight pain follows.
You’ve known it when you had him in your mouth so many times, gagging and choking on him, but nothing could’ve prepared you for how he stretches you now.
“Shit, baby. So fucking tight.” he hisses, his eyes shut in pleasure.
You wince, and he doesn’t move, kissing you tenderly, his hands drawing comforting circles on your arm.
As the stretch becomes more bearable, you look up at him, breathless. “Fuck me now, please.”
He sighs in relief, then sinks fully into you, his hips flush against yours.
He’s fucking you slowly, carefully, dragging his long, thick dick inside you, and you clench around him so tight that he throws his head back and curses under his breath.
“You have no idea how long I’ve imagined this” he growls, his voice rough and strained. “My cock inside you, fucking you like this—fuck.” He grunts with each thrust, his grip tightening on you.
You squeeze around him more, and he lets out a soft whimper, his body shuddering at the feeling of your tight walls.
And suddenly, he turns you over. Your ass is raised in the air, your face pressed into the sheets.
Tears sting the corners of your eyes as his tongue dives back into your pussy, licking, devouring. Then he stops. Just long enough to spit into your cunt before slamming into you again. Harder. Brutal. The force makes your eyes roll back, a gasp torn from your throat.
Each thrust sends tremors through your body. One hand pushes your head down, holding you in place, while the other grips your wrists behind your back.
You sob in pleasure. He feels so good, he fucks so good, so good.
“Jungkook—ah, fuck!”
“Baby, we have to be a little quiet,” he grins, his voice low and strained as he slams into you. “Thin walls, remember?”
“I can’t !” You can’t. You’ve lost control of your body, responding to every movement, every thrust, as Jungkook wills it. You can only take what he gives.
"You can’t?” he taunts, breath searing against your ear as he drags his cock out, achingly slow, until only the tip lingers. “Cock that good?” The words spill with a smirk, and then he slams back in—a deliberate, punishing thrust that rips the air from your lungs.
“Fuck—yes!” You barely recognize your own words.
“Yeah? You want my fucking cock?” His voice is two octaves lower, each word punctuated by a rough thrust, his hand squeezing your breast like he owns it.
“You like taking my fucking cock? Hmm?” Another thrust, harder this time.
You nod—wildly, desperately—tears spilling over, your body trembling, unable to stop.
"Then take it,” he commands as he leans in, his words grazing over your ear. “Take it like you mean it. Like a good girl. Take my fucking cock.” His hips snap forward, sharp and unforgiving, dragging a sob from your throat. Relentless. He drives into you harder, deeper, without a shred of mercy, ruining you completely.
You expected sex with him to be intense, consuming. You knew he knew how to fuck, knew he was an attentive and generous lover. But not like this. Not a wildfire that burns through every corner of your being, leaving nothing untouched.
When he feels your legs shake again, he slaps your ass and flips you onto your back, your body now facing his.
“Let me see your face, baby. Look at me, please.” You gaze up at him through teary eyes, your pupils hazy with lust. His hands gently move the strands of your messy hair from your face before wandering down to your breasts, his lips following the trail as his fingers brush your clit. He pushes his thick length back inside you, drawing a long, breathy moan from you.
“You’re so beautiful, holy shit,” he breathes, his voice soft and whimpery now, a sharp contrast to the commanding devil who had you bent and folded just minutes ago. “I can’t... too much... mmm—you’re gonna make me c-come... fuck,” he groans, abruptly stopping his movements. He settles into the crook of your neck, his abs flexing so hard you feel it against your stomach as he fights to control himself. You can hear his heavy breathing in your ear, his heartbeat thumping against your skin.
“You good, baby?” you ask, kissing his cheek.
“Yeah, sorry, give me a sec. Shit... I… You... you’re just too beautiful.” He laughs, burying his face back into your neck.
You laugh with him, but he winces. “Don’t laugh, baby. You’re squeezing me—ahhh,” he warns as he pulls out but stays on top of you, kissing your neck and shoulders.
“You’re killing me… You have no idea…fuck. I’ve imagined this so many fucking times... I knew you’d be perfect—God, I knew, but you just feel too fucking good. Too good… I can’t—"
He cuts himself off and doesn't give you a chance to respond to his rambling confession. He catches your lips in a slow, intense kiss as he pushes his hard length back inside you.
He pounds into you with purpose—steady, deliberate, charged. His fullness overwhelms, filling you completely. Your legs wrap tight around his hips, anchoring him closer, while his hand rests at the base of your throat, tender, almost reverent. A cruel contrast to the way his pace quickens, more forceful now, relentless, and then—
You break.
So intense, no words come out of you. Only muffled cries, soft whimpers, and shudders. Your fingers claw at his back, his biceps, his shoulders.
“Come for me just like that.” he whispers as he continues to slam into you.
His release comes soon after, his body shaking as he comes while you squeeze around him, milking every single drop of him. His moans mingle with yours as he thrusts erratically.
In one last, deep push, you both collapse together, breathless and consumed.
Your brain shuts down for a moment, and you feel your body twitch. His body drapes over you, his weight grounding you, pulling you back from whatever dimensional plane you’ve drifted to.
“Fuck.” Was all you can say, still catching your breath.
He laughs softly, his body still pressed against yours. "Damn, I came so hard... holy shit," he murmurs against the crook of your neck, planting gentle kisses.
You kiss his cheek and trace imaginary maps on his back.
“How do you feel, baby? Hmm? Did you like it?” he teases, the playful grin evident in his voice.
Spent and still catching your breath, you just shrug, flashing him a sly smile.
“I think the neighbors know you liked it,” he chuckles.
You roll your eyes, playfully slapping his shoulder. “Yes, Jungkook, you fucked me too good. I fucking loved it. Can’t wait for more.”
He throws his head back and laughs. "I don't think I'll ever get enough of you. I didn’t think this through. I’m fucked.”
“No, I’m fucked.” You answer and you join his laugh.
After lying there for a while, he props himself up on his elbow. "Shower?"
You want to, but you're so spent.
“Give me a sec, please.”
He laughs softly, sitting on the bed as he gently fixes your messy hair. His gaze softens as he stares at you.
"You’re so beautiful. Too beautiful. I don’t know what to do with you. What do I do with you?" He chuckles, then takes your hand, placing a soft kiss on your knuckles.
"Just hold me, don’t let me go." You smile softly, your fingertips grazing his beautiful face.
He catches your hand with both of his, holding it gently, with care.
“I remember the first time I saw you," he continues, the stars inside his eyes shining so brightly. "You looked so beautiful, I almost tripped over my own feet."
“Then you would've joined me, laying on the floor full of dirt in the hallway," you laughed at the memory.
He shakes his head, grinning. "No, that wasn’t the first time I saw you."
“What?" you sit up.
“You bumped into me in the parking lot. You were holding a small box with your coffee maker in it…”
A small smile tugs at his lips. “You were wearing a white top and jeans. You said ‘sorry’ without even looking at me, but…” He pauses, as if savoring the memory.
“I noticed how tightly you clung to that box, your eyes scanning the building from a distance, like you had everything you needed right there in your hands. You looked like someone from a movie… brave, bold, standing tall, ready to take on whatever came next. I’ve never seen anyone so small next to a building, and yet so impossibly big.”
His gaze meets yours. “You had this fire in your eyes, so full of life. From that moment on, I could only look at you with respect and admiration.”
He laughs softly, fiddling with your fingers. “I wanted to be wherever you were. You’re amazing, YN. I hope you see yourself the way I see you. Powerful…and beautiful. I could go on forever…”
Waves of emotions crash over you, spilling into the corners of your eyes. You look at him—really look at him—and you see him.
The first time you really took a good look at his face was when you bumped into him on the staircase, just before your tangerines went tumbling down. That was when you first noticed his dark brown eyes, wide and pure, but given the chaos of the moment, you chalked it up to his overall handsomeness.
Then you get to know him.
The first time you saw his eyes, his dark brown eyes, you noticed how they gleamed in the light, like soft stars scattered across the night sky, and in the dark, they sparkled with an infinite depth, as if they contained a universe light years and light years away… It was impossible to comprehend how one person could hold the vastness of a galaxy, all within the depth of his gaze.
Maybe the reason his eyes are so big and round is to see the good in people more clearly. And maybe they’re that way so others can see the fullness of his love.
His love is patient. His love is kind. It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs.
He smiles at you, the kind that crinkles his nose and creases his eyes.
The smile that exudes the carefree spirit of a boy with the quiet wisdom of a man.
His hair, a little longer now, falls in unruly waves, as if it can’t decide whether to be straight or wavy. It mirrors the turmoil in your thoughts, torn between being lost in the beauty of him or leaning in and being lost to the pull of his kiss.
“I love you,” you say, sincere and sure.
His smile blooms in his eyes before it reaches his lips.
He gives you a chaste kiss, tender and lingering. And as your lips part, he whispers,
“I love you.”

[ EIGHT ] all they keep asking me is if I’m gonna be your bride – the only kind of girl they see is a one-night or a wife
Tumblr media
The Kingdom of Inarizaki was at a loss whether to celebrate the early return of the latest married couple from their honeymoon. The couple seemed to be doing great – according to the tabloids, anyway. When they arrived, the Princes and their wives waved to the people, all eager for a glimpse of the infamous couple who had married for love. For two years, society had their eyes on you – the shy, reserved noblewoman who caught the eye and heart of their one and only Crown Prince Suna Rintaro. And oh, what a wedding it was, broadcasted all over the world and celebrated like a holiday.
What the world didn’t know was that it was an entirely different story behind the Palace walls.
You may share a bedroom, but never the bed. You’d been acquainted with the couch for the next few nights, only seeing your husband once in the mornings before he left to do his duties, and every now and then when the Queen wanted to have dinner. Not that you were complaining – the space was most appreciated. Without Suna lingering, there’d be less reminders of how much of a fool he took you. A naïve, young woman who really deluded herself into believing a Prince could want her. Although…
Suna didn’t not want you, either.
In the few spaces in between, he would look for you. He would make small talk and ask if you’ve eaten. If you liked breakfast, which was a silly question, since it was always tea and waffles. If you enjoyed yourself while he was away, this, again, was a silly question. You spent the mind–numbing hours blaming yourself for being in this predicament. That, perhaps, if you had just been brave to walk away that night you found out the truth, then you wouldn’t be out here wondering if the maids’ whispers were true – that Suna spent most of his nights at Belleview Manor, because quote unquote, “he was unwelcome in his own quarters.”
As if somehow it was your fault he did not feel comfortable to sleep under the same roof with you.
Sighing, you flipped your novel closed. No one had given you official duties yet, other than the blatantly obvious one of giving the Crown Prince an heir. ‘They will have such sleepless nights!’, the Queen’s goons crooned. ‘So young and virile, they are, we’ll have a new Crown Prince in no time!’ Oh, if only it were that easy. If there were to be a Prince, Iris would most likely be the mother, considering he saw her more often than you did. And how funny of a thought that was – you wanted distance from him, yet something died inside you little by little the colder your room got.
“Since we have returned, my schedule will be full.”
You glanced up from where you sat. Suna had sauntered back into the room, his tie loosened; hair messed up like he ran his fingers through it several times. Already, a servant stood beside him to comb his hair back neatly. You couldn’t help but stare. How long had it been since you combed his hair for him? You knew he hated it when they gelled it back. He preferred it messy and unkempt, saying his bedroom hair felt most natural. The bedroom hair he’s shown only to you in the quiet breaks of the night when he was in your bed.
The bedroom hair Iris had seen, as well.
Just the thought of it forces a smile on your face. Standing up, you brushed off the imaginary dust off your skirt. Less than a week in the Palace, and you were already so miserable. You could at least try to look less bothered by his unrequited affections.
“Do what you must.”
Once his hair had been brushed to perfection, Suna gestured for his servant to step away. The man politely bowed down before exiting the room. “I mean to say,” he continued, stepping closer now that there was no one else around. Your breath hitched the closer he got, but you dared not move, not even when his warm, familiar hand cups the curve of your cheek. “The meetings I must attend and people to deal with will take up most of my time.”
You knew what he was trying to say – that he wouldn’t be around, and you had to entertain yourself in his absence. Gently, you take a step back from his touch, watching as an unreadable expression crosses his face.
“And as I have said, do what you must. I have my own duties to fulfill as well.”
“You do not sound bothered by this.”
“Why should I be?” you shrugged, “If I am to be stuck with you for the rest of my life, surely I can enjoy what little time left I have for myself.”
Suna’s lips thinned. “You could act a little less eager to get rid of me.”
“On the contrary, I have no intention of leaving.”
“So I will see you tonight?”
“If we run into each other at the palace, yes, yes you will.”
If he seemed discontent with your half–hearted response, he did not show it. Must be the practiced regality and composure befitting for a Crown Prince like him – all lazy, yet wary, watching eyes. He, too, must know the true meaning behind your words. There was no need to pretend.
You both knew Suna would run into Belleview Manor as soon as the night ends, and his duties for the day had been tended to. Meanwhile, his wife would stay up all night in her couch.
Not quite waiting for him, but not quite imagining if he slept better at her side, either.
It was an unspoken deal between you two already. So he leaves without another word, and you let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding when the door finally slams shut.
Tears prick at your eyes for the umpteenth time. You were tired of this. Tired of not knowing where you truly were in his life – were you his wife, his friend? After you’d heard of his passion and dedication to Iris, you weren’t so evil to stop him from seeing her. He loved her first. And you of all people should know the pain of not having the one person you wanted most. To him, she was his unattainable treasure. She was already making him smile before you even came to his life. She was already offering companionship and the comfort he desperately needed in this tiresome world of politics and power. She was his solace in all this chaos.
And you… you were just his wife. And without a baby in your belly, you might as well be just another useless figure in the Palace.
You refused to be so.
You may be worthless to him as his wife, for you truly couldn’t have his heart, but you refused to be a worthless person. Deep down, you knew you weren’t. It was just the title of ‘Princess’ that made you feel incapable and short. Did that mean you weren’t meant to be Princess, then? Should you go back to your manor, learning how to handle the household and managing the family business like your parents taught?
If you were not for Suna, did that mean you were not for the Crown, as well?
You bit your lip in contemplation. There was only one person who could provide you a solution to this.
Tumblr media
“It is not every day I am summoned by a Princess,” a smooth, deep voice filtered through the garden. Smiling, you stood up to greet the Third Prince. A curtsy, a bow, and soon you two were sipping tea – the momentary peace a guise of what was to come. Kita must have sensed it, too, his gaze flitting over your pinched face with understanding and patience. “To what do I owe this pleasure? Surely we are not here to discuss the pleasantries of your honeymoon.”
You grimaced. “Definitely not. There were no pleasantries to begin with.”
His face fell.
“I’m sorry to hear that. Are you… My apologies. I’m not sure how to proceed with this.”
Nodding, you set your tea town. You had a feeling he truly meant his apology, which felt good, seeing as most of the Princes had too much pride to know the word ‘sorry.’ But you hd always known that Prince Kita was unlike the other Princes – he had more honor, and a stronger sense of morality compared to his brothers. Maybe it was due to his being raised by his mother, who was a lawyer, and therefore was not so exposed to the greed and competition experienced by the other Princes.
Whatever it was, he was just different. And you could rely on him to be truthful, too.
“Have you always known about them?” you muttered, refusing to look at the Prince’s face in fear of being met with pity. That was the last thing you wanted – to be seen as the poor, unwanted wife. “Iris and Rintaro?”
“I have.”
“I see.”
Kita sighed. “Please don’t misunderstand, Princess. I never meant to keep it from you. None of us did – except for those truly involved. It was just… I grew up with them, too. Keiji and I were only a year ahead of Rintaro and Iris. When I heard the Crown Prince had become acquainted with a foreign royal scholar, we didn’t think too much of it. Her sudden marriage with Kiyoomi surprised us all, and none of us would’ve thought that her friendship with Rintaro would turn into something more.”
“You don’t need to explain all of this to me, Your Highness.”
“Perhaps, but…” reaching over the table, the Prince squeezed your knuckle. You chuckled, not having realized you’d balled up your hands into a fist. It turned out you couldn’t fool anyone, not even yourself, to act like you didn’t care how much it all hurt. “I do not want you to think I am not on your side.”
“You do not need to be on my side. He is your brother.”
“Blood means little to me when my own kind is cruel to others,” he retorted, looking offended you would suggest otherwise. “I have always been against it, Princess. I told him from the beginning that to covet one’s brother’s wife is one thing, but to involve someone else, all for his selfish reason of ascending a throne that was always rightfully his just seemed heartless.”
Heartless. Gods. To know that your husband was capable of being cruel was one thing, but to hear it coming from his own brother’s lips was another.
“But Rintaro is Rintaro. Of course he is stubborn.”
“Indeed, he is,” Prince Kita sighed in defeat, leaning back against his seat as he stroked his chin in thought. “Princess, while I cannot guarantee I can take all of your woes away, I want you to know you can trust me. If there is anything you need, let me know and I will do it for you. It’s the least I can do to make your stay here in the Palace tolerable.”
“Do you mean that?”
“I do, and I am a man of my word.”
“Then I suppose there’s no point beating around the bush,” you gritted your teeth, forcing the words to come out.
It had always been a lingering thought at the back of your mind – to leave Rintaro – but there was this prideful, equally stubborn voice at the back of your head telling you it was too early to give up. That you needed to fight. But what was there to fight for? It wasn’t like Rintaro would learn to love you. And neither do you plan on wooing him. So, instead, you swallowed up your pride and called for Kita, knowing he would never judge you for the choices you were about to make.
“I actually called for you today because I wish to discuss royal marital laws, possibly with your mother. She would know about it best.”
“You need legal counsel,” he caught on, and you nod, “I can arrange that. I assume you want it discreetly, too. That is no problem at all. But if I may be bold, I wish to ask something from you in return.”
“Name your price.”
“It is about this maid that I am fond of. Airi,” her name came out breathily from his mouth, almost like a whisper. You noticed the Prince glancing around the empty garden almost warily, though you already took measures to ensure no one would be around to witness this conversation. Reassured, Kita sat up straighter and looked you in the eye, nothing but sincerity and determination in his expression. “I will do anything you ask of me, as long as it is within legal reasons, if you take her in as your personal maid.”
“I’ve heard rumors about you having affections for a maid in your quarters,” you mumbled, feeling almost sorry for the kind–hearted Prince. It seemed he, too, did not escape the heartbreaking torment for falling for a person you could never have. “So it is true, after all.”
“It is. You seem surprised about it. Is it so shocking to learn of a Prince having genuine feelings for another?”
You shook your head. “Not at all. I think I should know best that passion is something you brothers certainly have,” you snort, and Kita fights back a grin. “Very well, then. I will take care of your lovely maid, although I do wish to know – why are you assigning her to me? Have you… done anything to stain her honor?”
The color seeped out of the Prince’s face.
“I would never do such a thing.”
“I figured you wouldn’t.”
Kita’s shoulders squared before he exhaled. “Airi is… Ever since I set my sights on her, she has been in danger. People have been very unkind towards her, especially with the staff in my quarters. And as much as I would love having her by my side in my every waking hour, it would break my heart to know that she is being looked down upon simply because I admire her. But I figure with her at your side, with a new assignment, she will have some peace.”
Your heart ached for him. You could tell this was not an easy decision to make, but a necessary one if he wanted to ensure his lover’s well-being.
“You can still see her, Your Highness. It’s not like I will take her away from you.”
“I wouldn’t let you, either, but these are very difficult times for everyone in the Palace. The security of the throne weakens every day. The Parliament is restless, and there is only so little I can do with all these failed unions,” he rattled on, eyes widening when he realized it too late. Bowing his head, the Prince’s brows furrowed. “My apologies. I didn’t mean to–”
“Our marriage is not a failed union. Not yet. I will make certain it will not be a failure.”
It couldn’t be a failure. There was only one way out of this dreadful marriage, and as much as you hated it, that exit only existed in a path where you had no choice but to let him be a great King. This is why you need Kita’s mother’s counsel. Surely there could be a loophole in the clause that would invalidate the marriage. But until that opportunity presents itself, you were stuck here in this Castle, surrounded by everyone but your husband.
You had to make it work.
“With all due respect, Princess,” sighs the Prince, looking more remorseful than irritated. “Why is it that you try so hard? You do not need to stay with him, you know. It may be against the law for royal marriages to be annulled, but surely we can find a way. You do not need to torture yourself by spending one more day with your husband.”
“I know that.”
“Then why do you stay?”
“Because,” you croaked out, feeling a lump grow in your throat. “Because loving him is all I had known, and perhaps it is time I learn to despise him, as well.”
Silence stretches. The prince sat there, unmoving, as your words hang in the thick air between you two. You knew he would understand; he wouldn’t judge. But there is still concern in his handsome features that made you realize how pitiful you really are. And maybe there was no one else to blame but yourself, because you were foolish, and in love. But you were trying – by the Gods, you really were doing your best – to just be in love and not have to be foolish anymore.
Kita could see this as well. Your strength, your grit. He could see everything from where he sat, and that was why he simply nodded. “Are you getting there yet?”
“I will get there someday.”
Before the Prince could say anything else, a servant appeared from the bushes. He looked sheepish upon the intrusion, an apologetic smile on his face directed to the Prince. “Your Highness. It is time for your lessons.”
The Prince sent you a knowing look. This was not to be the last time you see each other, and you smiled up at him, grateful. It felt good to have at least one person you could lean on in the Palace. You stood up, too, shaking his hand just as his servant excused himself. If your memory did not fail you, the Third Prince studied law outside of the Palace and had to attend university, unlike his brothers who had chosen to indulge in their promised wealth after graduating high school.
“Excuse me, Your Highness. I have matters to attend to, but my words still ring true – I am only a call away should you need me.”
“Thank you so much for your time, my Prince.”
“It was my pleasure. I will inform you right away of my mother’s availability.”
“Oh, and Princess,” piped up the servant from somewhere around the bushes, “Princess Maiko is looking for you. She is waiting for you in her drawing room.”
Tumblr media
You should’ve expected that Princess Maiko would come looking for you. The whole ordeal she witnessed back at your rest house must have come as a shock for her. Sure, her marriage didn’t go so well, either, but at least Tooru hadn’t gone around sleeping with someone else. For a man who didn’t want to get married, he kept to his vow of loyalty to his wife. Still, you didn’t want this to be a competition on who had it worse – Maiko was simply worried, and you had to explain yourself for your untoward behavior on everyone’s getaway.
“Princess! Oh my gosh – how are you?! I was worried sick!”
“Princess,” you return her hug, smiling despite the fact the smaller Princess had a bone–crushing grip. “Thank you for your concern, but I assure you, I am well.”
“Oh, Princess, you couldn’t be,” she pulled back with tears in her eyes. You almost apologized on the spot now that you remembered demanding to return to the City without informing the others why. Especially not Maiko, who seemed to be clueless. “I… I heard from Tooru about everything. The entire situation with Iris and the Crown Prince – truly, I did not know a single thing. If I had, I would have told you right away.”
“I know, and I’m thankful for your support.”
You squeeze her hand in reassurance, and the Princess leads you to sit on the couch. She slumps on it rather ungracefully, her innocent, wide eyes moist as she shakes her head.
“I had no idea Iris could do that. I just… the moment she arrived in the palace, she was so lovely, you know? She was always a little reserved, and liked to keep to herself, but I never would’ve guessed. I truly thought she was a good friend of mine, and now I have no idea who she really is.”
“Neither did I.”
“How are you, though? And please, tell me the truth. You do not need to pretend all is well.”
You shrug half-heartedly. “I am the Crown Prince’s wife. I must learn to be strong.”
“You mustn’t torture yourself any longer,” she licks her lips, chuckling without a trace of humor in it. “Although I do not blame you for staying in a marriage without love,” she smiled sadly, holding your hand firmer where it sat on her lap. “What do you plan to do?”
“I will divorce him,” you announced, and finally saying it loud felt different than just having the thought float in your head. It now felt like a reality. A choice you had to be firm in making. Licking your lips, you couldn’t help but glance at the beautiful wedding ring sitting on your finger – how just like your marriage, it is sparkling yet meaningless.
Leaving him would be the right choice. It would not mean you were weak.
“Once I meet with Kita’s mother and work our way around the law… I’m going to leave him. If it is a proper marriage he wants, then it is the one thing he will not get,” braving to look her in the eyes, you force a determined smile. “I believe it is the right thing to do, Your Highness. I must pick my battles wisely.”
“I understand, and I support you if this is what you want to do.”
“Thank you, Princess.”
“Although…”
“Although?”
“I still find it hard to believe,” she quipped, momentarily letting go of your hand as she stood up, pacing around the room. Her dark hair, neatly braided and adorned with headpieces, slowly started falling into curled pieces around her delicate face with how fast she’d been pacing. Almost as if her feet couldn’t quite keep up with her thoughts. “Iris and Kiyoomi had been married for five years, and Tooru told me they’d loved each other long before then. I am aware I am not the best at reading the room, but surely I am not so foolish to miss the love in their eyes. I would have known, Your Highness, I swear.”
You smile, confused. “I… am not sure I understand what you mean.”
“I mean Iris never looked in love,” she reiterated. “Granted, she was never affectionate with Kiyoomi, so that much is clear, but with the Crown Prince? They barely even speak to each other.”
“You couldn’t have known if they did spend time together,” you told her as softly as you could, “I heard they often hid in Belleview Manor, away from the eyes of the public.”
“But I live here,” she argued, and you stopped trying to butt in. For such a small thing, you had already learned once Maiko had her head set on something, almost nothing could stop her. “I live in Honor Hall, just five minutes away from them! I could have heard something. And on the few times I do see them together, Iris had always seemed… walled off. If Rintaro was able to display his affections openly, Iris was not the same. That night you weren’t at the house, they did not seem like a happy couple to me.”
“What are you talking about?”
Maiko shook her head again, causing more curls to loosen. “They seemed familiar with each other, but not intimate. It was almost as if they were lovers purely in the bedroom, but they couldn’t have known each other’s heart,” her eyes lit up, before it dimmed again when she took in your somber expression. “I do not mean to give you false hope, Princess, but believe me. I know a man in love when I see one, and it is not the Crown Prince with Iris. But… but when you were not married yet, everyone could tell the Crown Prince smiled more. He laughed often, too, and he even spent more time with his brothers.”
“Well, that is only natural. He has a lot of siblings. Of course he would enjoy their company.”
“No, no, you do not understand, Princess. The Crown Prince… didn’t grow up that way,” she bit her lip, and then scooted next to you. “As the only son of the King and Queen, he was already more important than the rest. Because of that, he was raised differently – away and isolated from his brothers. He was always tutored alone, and never played with the other Princes. He spent his childhood locked up in his study, but then the Queen allowed him to attend regular school, and when he graduated… he met you. And I swear, he was different then.”
“Because he already met her,” you remarked, hoping she would stop already. Rintaro does not love you. “He’d become happier because Iris was already in his life.”
“I went to the same school with them; grew up with them. I had crushed on Prince Tooru for so long that I followed wherever he went, and where Tooru was, the Crown Prince would follow. They were born just months apart. And Iris never made the Crown Prince look… look…”
“Look what?”
“Look content,” she finally supplied. “But when the Crown Prince introduced you to us, he had this look on his face. When you spoke to others, he would always be looking at you, listening to your every word. Even when you were not in the same room, he would speak fondly of you. And he even once told me he still could not believe someone as precious as you had been attending the same lousy balls he’d been enduring all his life. He said that if he had met you earlier, he might have never skipped out attending the dances.”
“I don’t know,” your lips trembled, “I do not know what to do, Princess. Hearing of this does not make it any better.”
“I know, and I’m sorry, but you must understand,” she squeezed your hand, desperation evident in her tone. “Your husband looks at you the way I wished mine would at me. He may say otherwise, but his eyes cannot lie. He softens when you are around, Princess. That night you did not return home at Greenville, the Crown Prince could not sleep at all. And these past few days…”
“I believe that is enough. I do not wish to hear how he spent his nights at Belleview.”
“He didn’t, Your Highness. The Crown Prince has never even spoken to Iris ever since we returned from your honeymoon.”
Tumblr media
Rintaro could count the number of things pissing him off with one hand.
One: You had barely acknowledged his existence the past few days.
Two: Iris wouldn’t stop pulling him into dark, secluded corners in the Castle each time she chanced upon him. Two-point-five: She couldn’t understand he was not in the mood for another one of their trysts.
Three: Kiyoomi skipped another meeting concerning Itachiyama again.
Seriously, Rintaro understood being a Prince was tiresome work. It was not as grandiose as the tabloids made it out to be. Even in his sleep, he sometimes dreamt of paperwork, or he would wake up in the middle of the night with his hands signing off imaginary papers. The pressure was tougher on Kiyoomi, too, because he was expected to be ready to take after Wakatoshi at any time he even faltered – note: the First Prince never did – and to also act as representative for the other territory thanks to his birthright. But his brother was an hermit, and seemed to fear the sunlight, considering he never left his quarters. Or on the rare occasions he did, he would be hiding away in other countries doing who knows what.
He had just finished a meeting with some of the territory leaders regarding a public complaint that the price of goods had gone up, and some daily necessities were now ridiculously overpriced. One of the main suppliers of good livestock and coconuts, Itachiyama, made it even more expensive – not for any good reason, just that their leader loved to remind Inarizaki constantly that they needed him more than he needed the monarchy.
His goading affected his people, and Rintaro has had enough. Kiyoomi could at least try to pretend to be interested in the meetings. Out of all the nine princes, Kiyoomi was the most influential for being a half-blood. The Itachiyama president adored him. He wouldn’t have had to struggle negotiating for prices had he been doing his work. He was the damned mediator between the two countries, for goodness’ sake!
And to make it all worse, his life did not get any better outside the meeting rooms.
No, because his wife was intent on acting like he did not exist. And on the few times he did manage to be in the same space as you without you running off, you always looked through him. Like he wasn’t even a real person. As if he was just an apparition, a ghost in your mind that you could overlook if you tried hard enough.
He already knew you wouldn’t be in your quarters once he returned, but Rintaro still couldn’t help the pang of disappointment washing over him. He chose you to be his future Queen for many reasons, one of them being your wisdom in these kinds of things. You just needed a little encouragement to speak up, but Rintaro was confident you would make a great leader. You had genuine care for your people. You would have been able to help him make the best decisions for everybody – if you would just listen to him. Wasn’t that how marriages work? To share the burden of the Crown together? The Crown was too heavy for one person alone, which is why Kings cannot be crowned without their Queens.
Rintaro couldn’t do it alone. Each day was becoming more challenging for him, and he so desperately wished he could discuss the country’s future with you. He would feel more confident in his choices. He would be more reassured that he was doing the right thing, but it seemed that all he knew how to do lately was fuck everything up.
On his way back, Rintaro stopped trying to look regal. He let his shoulders slump and ran his fingers through his hair again. The gel be damned. Loosening his tie, he rolled his shoulders back and winced at how stiff his back was. Sitting on his ass all day long, having to listen to old men argue back and forth over money, and simultaneously having to deal with a marriage he’d already screwed over – Rintaro just wanted to disappear.
He wanted to return to Greenville.
It was peaceful there. People minded their own business, everyone had their own purpose and reason for waking up each day and there, he could just be himself. Not the Crown Prince, not a young man who had to hurt you for the sake of the throne. He could just… be free.
“Your Highness,” a servant bowed in front of him, keeping a respectful distance but enough to let him know he needed his attention.
“Good evening,” he greeted back, “Have you seen my wife?”
“Her Highness was with Princess Maiko this morning. Last I heard, she has not left the Palace, at all.”
“I see,” Rintaro was already moving towards Honor Hall before his feet could register it. It was a good twenty minute walk, and the chances of running into Iris weren’t miniscule, but it would be worth it. He could use some fresh air, anyway. And he figured with Maiko around, you would be less opposed to spending the evening with him – until he realized Maiko must have known everything, too. How he manipulated you, and left you in the middle of nowhere.
On second thought, having two Princesses who clearly did not welcome him would not make for a great night.
“My Prince!”
Rintaro stopped on his tracks. He had a split second to school his expression to surprise – the good kind – when he came face to face with the last woman he wanted to see.
“Mother,” he greeted, taking her gloved hand and pressing a kiss to her knuckles whilst she fanned herself. “I wasn’t informed you would be visiting.”
She waved her fan around. “Oh, I had to nearly knock down the guards when they wouldn’t let me in, but I had to see my daughter. I heard from the news that you came home too early. Well, what is wrong? Is she sick? Does she not like the countryside? Or perhaps there was an emergency you had to attend to?” fanning herself harder, Rintaro’s hand wound at the small of her back to guide the older woman into a nearby seat. “She hasn’t answered any of my calls, and I am worried, my son.”
“Your concern for her will put her at ease, I’m certain,” he reassured, swallowing the uncomfortable lump growing in his throat. “This is just… a difficult time for us, Mother. I fear Her Highness is having doubts about our marriage once she saw how overwhelming the Crown could be. She simply wished to return home because she felt there were things to be done here.”
Your mother sighed and shook her head. “My poor daughter. She always felt the need to prove her worth by working herself to death,” spinning to face him, she pointed her fan in his direction – which would be considered a threat to the Crown Prince, but she was his mother–in–law. Her presence itself was a threat to his life. “Promise me you won’t let her exhaust herself, son. Promise me you’ll take care of her.”
“She is in good hands, Mother, I promise you this.”
Pleased with him, your mother beamed. “I was also… Well, I may be crossing the line, but now that you tell me my poor daughter is anxious about her royal duties, I was planning to hold a ball in her honor. A welcoming ball for the new Princess, of sorts. It should help her integrate into your world better, but still with the comfort of our support.”
“A ball sounds lovely. We can hold it anytime as we are still in our honeymoon period and she will be free for quite some time.”
“That is perfect! I will make the arrangements, then.”
Wearing his best Prince Charming smile, even if he was anything but, Rintaro found himself mindlessly agreeing to everything your mother wanted. He would have to squeeze all these events in his already hectic schedule, but he was not complaining. She was right. You deserved to relax and enjoy yourself. He should know best that having royal titles did not promise a life of gallivanting and endless tea parties. Once your mother had exhausted herself from all the planning, Rintaro escorted her out to the palace entrance, stopping only when your figure appeared from the corner.
Finally, you were looking at him.
But with a glare.
Well, he supposed beggars couldn’t be choosers.
“You are a far better actor than I give you credit for – lying to my mother like that.”
“I did not mean to.”
You rolled your eyes, and Rintaro bit his lip. Cute, he thought, but he would never say it out loud. He would simply enjoy the fact you did not push him away, or walk away as if you were scalded when he started walking next to you. For a moment, everything almost seemed normal. Minus the extreme glaring, of course.
“Surely. It’s not like telling her you manipulated me for the past two years was on your to-do list.”
“Do not use that tone on me.”
“I will speak with you however I wish. You do not get to tell me what to do.”
“You are right; I cannot tell you what to do, so do as you please, then,” he surrendered, and you must be surprised by how he easily gave in from the way you froze. Glaring harder, Rintaro bit his cheek, tilting his head to the side as he gazed upon your pretty face. And oh, how badly he wanted to smooth that frown you’re wearing. “I missed you. I have not seen you all day long.”
“Must have been a lovely day for you, then.”
It was hell, actually, was what he wanted to say, but even that did not seem enough to articulate what he truly felt. I missed you, and I’m sorry I hurt you. Please sleep on the same bed with me again. I want to hold you all night long, and your scent calms me. But instead, all that comes out of his mouth was, “It was not lovely at all.”
“Hmm. I’m not Iris.”
“No, you aren’t.”
He agreed wholeheartedly – you were not his lover. Iris would not argue with him like this; in fact, they never argued at all. Whenever they had misunderstandings, they resolved it by taking out their frustrations on the bedroom, and the next day, all would be forgiven and forgotten. It was easier with Iris, in some ways, because with you he actually had to use his words, and he had to say the right ones. Both of which he wasn’t good at, but would try his very best anyway.
“I heard you spent the day with Maiko. How was it? Did you two have fun?”
“As fun as two women suffering at the hands of men who despise them could have.”
Rintaro took a larger step to stand in front of you, his eyes narrowed into slits. “I do not despise you.”
“Really? You made me feel otherwise.”
Sighing, he ran his hands through his hair again, feeling much more exhausted than he did after the meetings ended. “You do not have to make this so difficult, you know. I am trying to fix this.”
The laugh you let out is sardonic, teetering on the edges of borderline angry. But he would take it – because arguments with you were better than having you ignore him, and he would take a thousand more arguments if it meant you talked. He would consume your wrath over your coldness every other day. Even when you cross your arms and look at him like he was the most vile creature to ever walk the Earth – because your eyes are on him, and in that moment, in the middle of another of a hundred hallways in his Palace, there was no one else but you and him. A husband and his wife. A Prince and his Princess.
“Oh, are you now? Because last time I checked, you were still in love with someone else, and I’m still nothing but a pawn in your silly game.”
“I may be in love with someone else, but it was you who I couldn’t get off my mind.”
“Is that supposed to make my heart flutter?”
You reel back as if burnt, and Rintarou couldn’t fathom why your expression hurt him so much. As if his declaration, his vulnerability, of being putty in your hands repulsed you instead of excited you. However, he refused to show he hung desperately to your every word, refused to admit that you held all the power in your hands, not him. So, he plays it off, and flirtingly lifts a brow just to get you even more riled up.
“I was hoping it would.”
“Whatever it is you’re planning, Rintaro, you won’t win.”
His eyes darkened. Suddenly, all self-restraint he previously had had been thrown out the window. The urge to press his lips to you – yes, those same lips scowling at him – becomes all too consuming. He fools himself into taking the heat in your eyes as desire instead of anger. And he takes one step forward, two, then three, until your back hits the wall and his large frame prevents you from escaping. He liked you best here, he realized, under his mercy and staring up at him with your soft lips, pliant and open to release a gasp when he leans in. Closer, closer, only for his lips to meet the skin of your cheek.
Rintaro stifled a disappointed groan.
Masking it with a chuckle, he trailed his lips down your cheek and to your jawline, all the way until he’s inhaling your intoxicating scent – he wants your damned perfume to stick to his skin for days to come so everyone in the Palace knows he is yours. And like a flower, you bloom only to him. Craning your neck and pushing your chest upwards to his despite your resistance, breathing hard and heavy to let him know he wasn’t the only one affected by this.
And by the Gods, he wanted nothing more than to take you in this wall right here and then.
Brushing his lips just above your pulse point, Rintaro smiled. Your heart was beating a mile a minute, and he was certain his was, too, when you began to crumple his shirt in your hands. “I never knew my name could sound so important without the titles attached to it.”
“Wh–what?” your query came out breathily. Not that he could blame you, for his words have also begun to sound more like a whisper.
“Rintaro,” he echoed, nosing your neck to greedily take in more of your scent. If not on his skin, then he will settle for the evidence of you all over his clothes – and damned the servants who dared wash his dress shirt. “Not Prince, not Your Highness. Just Rintaro. It makes me feel like… it is just you and I, husband and wife, as simple as that,” you draw in another gasp just as his fingers start ghosting over your waist, fighting the urge to pin you in place, or to just hold you delicately because he knew he’d broken you enough. Rintaro felt weak, his head dropping in the column of your shoulder. “I truly did miss you. And I do not like how I spent many nights, in our bed, alone.”
“You do not deserve to share a bed with me.”
“I know,” he lamented, and that firm resolve of keeping him at a distance was enough to wake him up. Pushing himself off of you, Rintaro took a solid minute to admire you like this – lips parted, expectant for a kiss, and skin flushed with a thin layer of sweat, with eyes so bewildered he could see himself clearly in the reflection – that he was just a man now, and not really the husband you wanted him to be. Once he had his fill, Rintaro smoothed down the wrinkles you fisted in his shirt and took a step back. “But you do not deserve to sleep in just a couch. Take the bed tonight. I will sleep outside.”
“But that’s–”
“I’m the one who fucked up,” he smirked, sarcasm dripping from his face, “So I should be the one sleeping uncomfortably. I know I cannot tell you what to do, and neither do I plan on ordering you around, but this is the one thing you cannot argue with me on. You will take the bed. Understand?”
“Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Back to titles. Back to formality. Back to reality.
“Good girl,” he murmured absentmindedly, nodding in the direction of your bedroom. “Let us head back to our quarters. I’m buying you a new dress for the ball first thing in the morning.”

To say Rintaro had changed would be an understatement.
He was a completely different person than your husband in the honeymoon. It was as if… last night’s intimate encounter had brought him back to the Rintaro you fell in love with, but this time it felt different. He felt more intense. Maybe it was the fact that his secrets were now laid out in the open, which could mean his attentive actions toward you no longer held the purpose of winning you over. Maybe now he truly just wanted to spend time with you because he could.
Cancelling his plans for the day, he’d told the servants you were going out shopping, and oh, what a cunning, devilish Prince he is. He knew you wouldn’t be able to keep your hands off of him out in public. With so many eyes watching, you spent nearly every second of the day with your arms looped around his, laughing and smiling at every word he said, and not daring to keep your eyes off him lest someone took a photographed and headlined it ‘Newly Married Royal Couple Having Their First Lovers’ Spat In Public.’ No. No, that would be catastrophic. The Queen would be furious.
Here, in public, you were forced to act sweet and touchy with him, to which the stupid Crown Prince basked in as he led you from boutique to boutique. He complimented you on everything, even when you wore a hideous bright orange gown that made even the designer flinch. But in Rintaro’s eyes, you were simply mesmerizing. He even got a suit that matched all of your dresses, claiming that everyone should know he was married to you. Everyone already knew that – the whole world knew – but you didn’t want to burst his bubble.
Aside from having a day off, your husband genuinely did seem to be doing things other than paperwork.
You stopped being kind once you entered the car, however, when the windows had rolled up and you had both stopped waving to the people. Here, it was just the driver and the both of you, and the driver knew better than to comment on whatever happened, anyway. Sighing, you scooted to the other end of the seat, prying yourself off of Rintaro’s tight grip around your waist.
“Drop the act.”
“What act?”
“Oh, please,” you scoffed, taking off your gloves and folding them neatly in your lap. “We are in the privacy of our car. You needn’t pretend any longer.”
“Who said I was pretending?”
You looked at him dead in the eye. “You are not fooling anyone. This was all a PR act – you did not actually mean whatever it is you said to me out there, but worry not. I’ll get out of your hair and divorce you – surely that will make everything easier.”
The way Rintaro’s eyes nearly popped out of his head would be comical if he didn’t look so scared. In a flash, your husband crossed the distance and sat next to you, his hurried movements causing his bangs to fall into his eyes. His large hands began to engulf yours, and you suck in a breath – without the gloves, it felt more intimate. “What divorce?” he chuckled nervously, brushing his lips over your bare knuckles. It was the faintest of touches, only done to appease you, but it still didn’t stop the bolt of heat coursing through your thighs. Gods, it was just so hard trying to stay mad at him.
“You know that’s impossible. Royal marriages are forever. Look, if you truly wish to divorce me, fine. But you know you will have to help me become King first. Once I am crowned, I can write a new law that says royal couples can be separated.”
“You are despicable.”
“I am,” he whined. Whined! Seriously, who was this man? “But I promise you, if you help me, I will let you go. Look, I’ll even find a high–ranking nobleman for you. The best of the best. You wouldn’t have to be lonely anymore. Just… don’t ever mention divorce to me right now. I won’t let you.”
Scoffing, you pull your hands back from his heavenly lips. “You seriously think after everything, loneliness is somehow my biggest issue?” Rintaro opened his mouth to retort, but you shook your head, making yourself small between him and the window seat. You hated it, how helpless you felt, from wanting his touch to being burnt by it. You hated it even more how you couldn’t look him in the eye as you mumbled, “Have you ever thought that maybe I just want to forget you?”
“I do not want you to,” he breathed out, and your eyes snapped shut when you felt his fingers brush over your cheeks. “But I am not so selfish to deprive you of a good thing. You will find someone who can love you better than I could.”
Your heart fell.
“Well, that would be easy. You never loved me to begin with.”
The Crown Prince never spoke again. You both mulled over your silences as you arrived back at the Palace, heading into the bathroom to do your nightly routines. Rintaro was to your left, taking out his razor blade and shaving foam while you stood to his right, lathering on your cleanser and toner. Thankfully, the silence did not feel as heavy as it did on the ride back home, but it was still far from being comfortable. It was only after you’d moisturized and turned to leave the room that Rintaro caught your wrist, glancing down at you with a pleading expression.
“Please. Can we stop fighting? I thought today was fun. Let us not end it hating each other.”
“I’m sorry, Your Highness, if I ruined your precious day,” you snapped, leaning back to examine how he missed a spot below his jaw. A slight stubble was visible, but you had to stop your hand from reaching out to him. You sighed. “All this space in the Palace and they couldn’t give us separate bathrooms?”
Traditionally, royal married couples slept in separate rooms. Everything was separate, too, including bathrooms,” he gestured around you, “Perhaps you would’ve liked the old ways.”
Screw it. The small talk is the most awkward thing you have ever experienced.
“…You missed a spot,” you finally mumbled, taking his razor from him and gesturing for him to crouch down so you can reach. “Do you want me to finish it?”
Rintaro, despite his surprise, nodded and obeyed. It must have been uncomfortable for him to slouch, but he did so without complaints. He let you shave him as you saw fit, turning his head side to side, lathering on more foam, and you watched as his shoulders visibly deflated. Eyes fluttering close, Rintaro sighed, the tips of his fingers gingerly tracing circles as they laid beside your hips.
“You will take the bed as discussed,” he reminded, “You will not argue with me on this.”
“Okay,” you answered, because you, too, had no energy for more arguments. Once you were done with him, you wiped off the rest of the foam with a warm, wet towel. You both left the bathroom and went your separate ways – you to your king–sized bed, and him just outside the bedroom and into the lounge room, where you spent the past few nights sleeping. You realized he must not be sleeping well from it because of his large frame, yet Rintaro did not seem to mind.
Just as he was about to close the door, he lingered for a few beats.
“Thank you for going along the happily married couple act today,” he said, lifting his gaze from the carpeted floors to gaze into your eyes. “And for the record, I meant it when I said you looked beautiful.”
Then he turned, and swiftly closed the door, leaving you to be with your thoughts – all filled of him.
It didn’t help that the sheets and pillows still lingered with his scent.

You had your upcoming ball to thank for distracting you from your confusing feelings for your husband. That in itself was such a ridiculous statement, but one that ringed true. After Rintaro’s surprising gentleness, and the revelation from Maiko that he hadn’t spoken at all with Iris, you were now in a dangerous zone called Getting Your Hopes Up. Truly, you should know better. You had known Rintaro for years to know he could be effortlessly charming. He could have you wrapped tight around his finger, smiling like a lovesick fool, only for him to break your heart once more.
If not for that cold, hard truth, you would have invited him to bed with you that night. It seemed too tempting. It felt like the right thing to do. But you didn’t, and you were glad you held back on your desire, because you weren’t sure you could handle another heartbreak.
Especially because these past few days made you realize one thing – that you were still in love with him. The next morning, you found yourself wishing you had woken up next to him, and that was enough to make you avoid your husband all over again. And much to your disappointment, Rintaro stopped trying to chase after you, too, after countless rejections on your part. He had kept his distance, and only spoke with you momentarily when you arrived at your mother’s ball and had to exchange niceties with everyone.
After that, your husband excused himself and spoke with his brothers, but not after your parents couldn’t stop cooing at how adorable you and the Crown Prince were. He handled it with grace; kissing your cheek and thanking them for raising such a wonderful daughter. But the moment your parents became occupied with welcoming other guests, you were now left to entertain the other women in the ball.
Until the music began playing.
Until your song reverberated all across the room.
“This is the song you and the Crown Prince danced to the night you met,” your mother whispered beside you, giggling in your ear. “I requested it specifically for this night. Enjoy the dance with your husband. He’s already waiting.”
True to her word, you could feel Rintaro’s heated gaze on you from across the room. He’d stopped speaking with his brothers – the twins smirking beside him, Akaashi smiling at you softly, Tobio waving enthusiastically while nursing a glass of wine, and Kita firmly hovering from the walls with a concerned frown. Not that you paid attention to them. Your gaze was held by your husband and him only, bewitched as he started walking forward. The crowed parted for him like a true Prince until nothing stood in his way. Everyone smiled, giggling behind their gloves at the apparent ‘romance in the air.’ Beside you, your mother pushed you encouragingly, and you could feel everyone’s eyes on you, waiting to see if you would take the Crown Prince’s outstretched hands.
“My love,” he whispered above your gloved hands, and your heart skipped a beat. He didn’t call you Princess, or Your Highness. You knew it was for the sake of keeping appearances, but by the Gods, you loved him. You were so hopelessly in love with your husband that you placed your heart in his hands once more, silently pleading with him not to break it as he led you in the middle of the dance floor. “May I have this dance?”
“Yes,” you breathed out, your hand resting on his shoulder as naturally as his arms came to your waist. The exact same movements from the night you first met, with the same song, but with your love for him stronger tonight than it did when you first laid your eyes on him.
This time, you danced as man and wife, and you recalled his words from the other day.
How there were moments it seemed so simple – where there were no titles, just you and him, having this dance like it was the most natural, inexplicable thing in this world.
The chord struck. The crowd parted. He took the first step in the dance, and you took a step back. Not once did you tear your gaze away from him, happily drowning in the depths of his hazel eyes you could look at forever. And isn’t that what you’d always wanted? To spend a lifetime with him, to grow old together. It would have been so easy if it weren’t for –
“Don’t think about anything else,” your husband shook his head lightly, “Just enjoy this moment. Tonight, there is only you and I.”
“Okay,” you found yourself nodding, and his grip on your waist tightened for a second. “Just you and I.”
Rintaro’s lips curled into the faintest of smiles. “Just you and I.”
You and him in those moments – you felt immortal. Like nothing could stand in your way. Or perhaps you could die tonight, and you would die happy. Because you were in your husband’s arms, and he was looking at you and only you, murmuring how you were becoming more and more beautiful with each passing day. You were melting in his arms, like goo. Like pudding. And he was strong enough to catch you, to brush his nose against yours at each dip, or letting his lips linger on your forehead each time you came back to him with each spin.
But happy moments never lasted long enough, and soon the rotations were beginning. More couples have joined the dance floor. Through one spin, you caught sight of Tooru and Maiko. Neither of them looked happy, but Tooru visibly brightened when he caught your eye, and shamelessly winked. On the other side of the room danced Iris and Kiyoomi, with the latter looking so nauseous you worried dinner would be spilled on your mother’s floor. And then too soon, Rintaro’s hands were leaving yours as he moved to the nearest dance partner, and you were caught by a pair of strong, muscled arms.
“My turn,” Tooru teased, a grin now on his handsome face as he nudged his head in Rintaro’s direction. He was now dancing with your mother, and you could tell, even from this distance, the smile he wore was genuine. “Should I beat him up?”
You chuckled, throwing your head back. Despite his jokes and jabs, Prince Tooru was a surprisingly great dancer – less stiff than Rintaro, and more confident in his receiving when you spun and dipped. But dancing with him did not feel the same. There was no passion, no yearning, no longing – just the lighthearted air of good humor and his calming nature.
“I don’t think beating the Crown Prince up would be a very wise decision.”
“Indeed, but I was never the Prince known for making wise decisions. That would be more Shinsuke’s forte,” he snorted, and the song reached a part for another rotation. However, Tooru refused to let you go and intentionally spun you away from what was supposed to be your next dance partner. Out of shock, you slapped his chest, and his broad chest rumbled with laughter.
“Your Highness! That was unbelievably rude!”
“As I have said,” you both laughed when he spun you again, “I am not the Prince known to be socially adept.”
You bent over in giggles, your head resting on his chest as you danced more throughout the night. Your feet were getting tired, but your mother was right – this was a night to enjoy. You danced to your heart’s content, exchanging jokes with the handsome Fifth Prince until you craned your neck to the side, only to be stopped by Prince Tooru’s large hand. This time, he no longer smiled as he gazed upon the dancing partners behind you, and your skin turned cold.
You had a feeling you knew exactly why.
“Don’t look. You won’t like what you’ll see.”
Nodding, you pursed your lips and forced a smile at him. “It’s okay, Princess,” he comforted, “Just look at me. You need not concern yourself with others.”
So you danced, and danced, until you could hear your father pleading with the Fifth Prince to give his daughter back because he didn’t get a chance to have a dance with you yet. Reluctantly, Tooru handed you over to your father, but not without a faux frown.
“That was a lovely dance, Your Highness. I wish we could’ve danced more.”
“I think we danced enough.”
Tooru’s smile was guarded; secretive. “I’m afraid it was not enough.”
You danced with your father next. And it was lovely, seeing him up close with all his smile lines and wrinkles. You missed him so, dearly, and he felt the same way. It hurt having to lie to him when he asked how you were settling in the Palace, but you didn’t want to concern him with your personal matters, and for some reason, it didn’t sit well with you if your father disliked Rintaro. So you swallowed your discomfort down and told him everything was great – silently wishing he wouldn’t pry further. He didn’t. And when the song slowed, your father kissed you on the cheek before letting you meet with your next dancing partner.
Stood in front of you was a great wall of what could only be described as majestic. Dressed in white with gold ornaments, Prince Kiyoomi’s curls framed his handsome face beautifully. You had been so accustomed seeing him in more comfortable clothing, and in the privacy of his own home, that seeing him out here in society, it reminded you that he, too, was a Prince.
The Second Prince – the would have been next King should Ushijima and Rintaro falter.
“My Prince.”
“Princess,” he bowed, taking your hand in his as you made your way back to the dance floor. The music played again, this time louder, and the Prince leaned down until his lips were brushing against the shell of your ear. You repressed a gasp, unable to help yourself from digging your nails into his palm when you were greeted by how good he smelled – like mint, new leather, and pine. It also dawned on you how tall and firm the Prince was – perhaps taller and more muscular than Rintaro.
“Y–Yes, Your Highness?”
“Remind me to thank your mother for extending her invites to the forgotten Prince. Imagine my shock when I saw her invitation letter this morning.”
You chuckled nervously, thankful that he had now slightly tilted his head back. “I hardly doubt you are a forgotten prince.”
He snorted, effortlessly spinning you with one hand. “It’s not like I do my duties to begin with. I wouldn’t be surprised if I truly was forgotten,” distracted by his scent, you unknowingly stepped on the hem of your dress and slipped backwards. A scream nearly tore out your throat when the Prince’s large hands cupped the small of your back, your chest pressed to his and his curls brushing against your cheeks as he held you close. “Careful.”
“Th–thank you.”
You were a mess after that. You were never the best dancer, but something about being in the older Prince’s presence made you extra nervous. If he noticed, he didn’t comment on it. He simply danced with grace, and hid his grimace well each time you stepped on his toes. He had also convinced you to stop apologizing every time you did, and by the time the dance was over, you were more than ready to disappear.
“Thank you for the dance, my Prince,” you bowed, words hurried, “I shall see you–”
“Kiyoomi!” a woman appeared out of nowhere, her thick, dark curls pinned up beautifully with some loose strands swaying in time with her hips. She had the same moles as Kiyoomi, and you watched, entranced, as the older woman wrapped her arm casually around the prince. The two shared a silent conversation with their eyes before Kiyoomi glanced at you, and the woman followed his line of sight. “Oh! Your Highness. Greetings. I don’t believe I have introduced myself before – I’m Kanami; Kiyoomi’s mother.”
You smiled at her, politely taking her hand as she extracted herself from her son’s arms and taken to draping herself all over you. Discomfort must be written all over your face, because the Second Prince sent an apologetic smile your way.
“It is an honor to meet you, Miss Kanami. Are you enjoying the night so far? The travel all the way from Itachiyama must have been exhausting.”
“Oh, it was, but it’s all worth it now that we’ve met again!” she squealed, and you paled.
“We have met before?”
Just as she nodded and went about to retelling this so–called meeting, Iris popped up behind Kiyoomi, her smile stiff as she regarded Kanami. Instantly, your mood soured. She hadn’t spoken to you at all tonight, which you were thankful, but something about the thought of her dancing with your husband, and probably being suggestive while at it had your blood boiling.
“Mother! Such a shock seeing you here. I wasn’t aware you were invited.”
Kanami barely glanced her way, her dark, curious eyes still on your face.
“Hello, Iris, and it’s Miss Sakusa, dear,” she corrected, her enthusiastic smile momentarily fading into a scowl before it returned. “Say, Your Highness, since you’re still on your honeymoon period – and I’ve heard your dear husband is too busy these days – would you want to come visit Itachiyama with me? I would be honored to be your host. It will also be a great opportunity to learn more about your Princess duties and politics!” leaning closer, she whispered behind her gloves, although her words were loud enough to be heard by Prince Tooru and Iris. “Although if I will be honest, politics does not interest me in the least bit.”
Your mouth fell open and closed, unsure of what to say, until you settled on chuckling and patting her hand wrapped around your arm. “I… Thank you for invitation, Kanami. I am most tempted to see your beautiful country, but Princess Iris should be the one visiting her territory, should she not?”
Kanami scrunched her nose.“The Princess never grew up in Itachiyama. She would be just as clueless as you. Besides, I have always wanted to invite you over ever since you had Kiyoomi as your last dance on your eighteenth birthday!”
“He… was?”
“He was! Don’t you remember, dear?” she turned to Kiyoomi, who looked like he wanted the floor to open up and swallow him already. But judging by his reaction, it seemed true – Kiyoomi was your last dance on your debut ball. “Well, in that case, I was always fond of you. I may be crossing the line here, but it was always a famous royal saying that whoever was your last dance on your debutante ball was your destined lover.”

“Pumpkin or apple?” You peered at the beautiful pies lined up behind the glass at the bakery, shifting your weight from one foot to the other as you balanced your phone between your cheek and shoulder.
“What?” Marc’s response crackled through the phone, and you could hear the faint sounds of a crowded grocery store in the background. Marc had offered to brave the Thanksgiving rush crowd that morning, leaving you at your shared apartment, apron tied around your waist, staring at a variety of ingredients and a mommy blogger’s recipe.
It had taken you three reads of the entire recipe, flour already spilled on the front of your old band tee, before you decided that there was a perfectly good bakery a fifteen-minute walk from here. Better to play it safe.
“Pumpkin or apple.”
“You said you’d bake it, didn’t you?” His voice took on a cautious edge, the kind he reserved for tense negotiations and life-or-death situations.
You laughed, dry, incredulous, catching the curious glance of the teenager behind the counter. “Marc, baby,” you drawled, straightening and pacing toward the large plate glass window, “do you remember what happened the last time I tried to bake a pie?”
“Are you talking about the fire or Steven being sick for a week?”
“Exactly,” you replied, ignoring that the question was an either or situation. His response was enough to prove your point.
“So…”
“So, I’m going to play it safe this time...” You studied your freshly manicured nails, the deep merlot polish shining in the mid-November sun streaming in through the bakery’s front window. “I’ll just take it out of the box, put it in a pie plate and—”
“Bob’s your uncle,” Marc finished and you could almost hear the smile in his tone. It still made your stomach do that stupid little flip it did, the same one you’d felt on your first date with him.
“Glad we’re on the same page,” you replied, the same smile in your voice as you nodded at the teenager to box up the pumpkin pie.
“Look, I’m cutting it close,” Marc said, his voice taking on that familiar clipped efficiency that you found strangely sexy. “I still have to grab the bread rolls and that canned cranberry sauce your uncle likes.”
You suppressed a gag. “How is it possible that someone willingly eats canned cranberry sauce?”
“Maybe it’s, I dunno—nostalgic?” He offered lightly.
“Or a very loud cry for help,” you muttered, tucking the boxed pie under your arm as you made your way to the register. “Anyway, just don’t be late. You know how my mom gets.”
“Oh, I remember,” Marc replied dryly, and you could practically hear him bracing for what was to come later that evening, sitting in a tiny split-level your parents refused to sell, all 19 of your family members crammed inside.
“Just—this is the first time you’re meeting my family, and it’s Thanksgiving—” you began, trying your best to underpin your nervous energy. You were sure Marc had clocked it from the moment you woke up last week with the odd stomachache and nauseated feeling that came only with the burgeoning terror of yet another family gathering.
“Hard to forget,” Marc sighed. You could hear the shuffle of activity on his end of the line, probably weaving between aisles and other patrons with the precise, purposeful strides that were very typical of Marc. “You’ve only reminded me six times this week.”
“I know it’s a bit—” you waved your hand even though you knew Marc couldn’t see it, trying to conjure the words clouding your mind, “much. It’s just because this year can’t be like last year.”
Even though you had been with Marc officially since before last Thanksgiving, this was the first time your family was meeting him.
Last year’s planned gathering had been efficiently derailed by what your family simply referred to as “The Great Turkey Incident,” which in reality was not simply just a series of near—catastrophes involving a broken oven, a kitchen fire, food poisoning and your sister swearing off hosting any family gathering for all of eternity. Your mother still choked up when you mentioned it, your father subsequently had to be medicated for high blood pressure. You assumed the latter had nothing to do with “TGTI,” but your dad swore up and down it did, in his thickest Bostonian accent, which only surfaced in moments of high stress or anger.
This year, your mother announced in August, would be better. Less chaotic. Normal or at least in the neighbourhood of normal. It remained to be seen, however, if that was at all possible. Property value in the Normal Neighbourhood had skyrocketed in the last year or so.
On one hand, Marc’s specialties were vast, especially when it came to making and keeping you extremely north of happy. Being normal, through no fault of his own, just wasn’t exactly one of those specialties.
As you stepped out of the bakery, into the November chill, you stopped, gathering yourself. “You’ve got this,” you amended softly, a bit for yourself and some for Marc too.
“What? Charming your entire family or surviving the day without anyone finding out about my… extracurricular activities?”
“Both,” you teased, your smile pulling up the corners of your lips until your cheeks hurt. How you’d gone so many years of your life without loving this man was beyond you.
“Great.” Marc’s response was quick, the hint of dry humour rolling through the phone, “piece of cake.”
“Pie. Piece of pie,” you shot back, “pumpkin, specifically.”
You smiled despite yourself, pulling your coat tighter as a chilly November breeze swept down the street. “It’s just… important to me, Marc. They’ve been waiting to meet you for ages, and after everything that happened last year…”
“I get it,” he said, his voice softer now. “But you don’t have to worry. I’ve got this.”
You stopped on the corner, letting his reassurance settle over you. Despite his gruff exterior and his tendency to run headfirst into danger, Marc Spector had a way of grounding you when you needed it most.
“See you soon, babe,” Marc sighed, and though his words were casual, there was something calming in the way he spoke, the cadence of his voice a soothing sound.
“Oh! Don’t forget the flowers!” You reminded him, just before he could hang up, as you dashed across the street toward your car, a death grip on the pie box.
There was a long pause on the other end, so long that you pulled the phone away from your face to see if he’d accidentally hung up. “Flowers?”
“Just—trust me. It’ll win my mom over.”
“I’ll do my best,” he said, a note of reluctant determination in his voice.
“Thanks, baby,” you smiled, making a kissing sound before you hung up the phone and carefully deposited the pie into the passenger seat and belted it in like precious cargo.
Tucking your phone away into a pocket, you shifted into the driver’s seat, hands on the wheel for a moment as you looked at the bustling street and sidewalk outside. This Thanksgiving was bound to be memorable—whether for all the right reasons or for another chapter of family chaos, you weren’t entirely sure. But if anyone could handle it, it was Marc Spector.
Tumblr media
You hustled up the stairs to your second floor apartment, precious pie cargo gripped tightly in your hands as you pressed against the stubborn front door.
Marc had texted you about five minutes ago complaining about being at the back of some absurdly long lineup at the cashes, so you figured you had about 30 minutes to shower, get dressed and pull off the great pie lie.
Depositing the pie on the kitchen island, you hurried to the bathroom, stripping layers of clothing in a trail on your way. The hot spray of the water a welcome calm before the storm that would Thanksgiving with your family. Even when there weren’t disasters to speak of, there were differing opinions on everything ranging from politics to sports, celebrity dating drama to conspiracy theories. It was enough to drive even the most sane person, absolutely, stark—raving mad. You’d be lying if you said you weren’t just north of wary introducing Marc into this mix that was already a powder keg.
Maybe this year, you’d pitch that next year, your family could celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving instead: early October, no arguments over politics, singing Kumbaya and sharing maple flavoured desserts while saying “sorry” a lot. That was how Canadians did it, right?
You were in the middle of thinking maple dappled, northern thoughts under the warm cascade of water when you heard the telling sound of the sticky front door of your apartment opening, followed by the sound of Marc’s voice, calling your name.
“Shower!” You called, though you were sure that Marc would be able to follow the trail of clothing even if you hadn’t answered
By the time you’d wrapped up the shower and stepped out from the steamed room, you found Marc in the kitchen, his eyes peering into the pie box curiously, the lid lifted carefully. “I think you’re going to owe me for enabling this lie,” his eyes were still on the pie box as you padded into the kitchen in your towel. Replacing the lid daintily, he handled the dessert like it was ticking, wired with red and blue leads and affixed with a countdown clock before his eyes flicked up to you. You didn’t miss the way he assessed your clothing situation, or lack thereof.
It was one of the many things you loved about this man, he made no show of hiding that he was always one opportune moment away from fucking you.
“First of all,” you started, folding your arms across your chest, “it’s not a complete lie: it was baked by someone, just not me. So, more like pie-adjacent authenticity. If my mom buys it, then I think I owe you—a thank you.”
Marc raised an eyebrow, “a thank you, huh? That’s all I get for being complicit in a fib to save you from culinary embarrassment?”
“Depends,” you smirked, stepping closer to peak into the top of one of the paper bags on the counter, “did you pick up the flowers?”
Marc smirked, tipping his head to a small bouquet of seasonal blooms sitting on the counter. “I think you’re just trying to distract me from the conversation—we were talking about how much you owe me.”
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t keep a straight face as Marc stepped in closer, narrowing the space between you. “Fine. Thank you, Marc. You’re my Thanksgiving hero.” You feigned a swoon.
“Damn right, I am,” his voice dropped an octave, his hand finding your toweled waist, pulling you across what little distance remained between you. He dipped his head to your neck and you moved to allow him access, your body responding as if moving with him as he explored your body came as naturally as breathing, as easy as the path of orbit, the innate pull of gravity.
You eased into the touch of his lips, losing yourself in the feeling of him against your skin, suddenly hyperaware of the fact that you could feel the heat coiling low, between your legs, the wetness that had nothing to do with your shower growing.
“Marc…” you huffed as his hand left your waist and tangled in your damp hair at the nape of your neck, his other hand finding the top of the towel tucked against your body. “Careful…” you teased, but you were breathless as the words came out, no real urgency or command in them, “we still have to leave on time and you’re not exactly dressed for a first-time dinner with my family.”
“Plenty of time,” he murmured against your skin, his fingers hooked at the top of your towel, a single, gentle tug the only thing between you and the hungry man who stood before you, waiting to devour you completely.
If you didn’t have anywhere to be, you’d have shed the towel, found his belt and been on your knees in front of him, your mouth aching to be around his thick cock. But you did have somewhere to be and around the haze of the way Marc set your skin on fire under his touch, just on the edge of a losing battle between desire and responsibility, you knew you couldn’t. You’d attend dinner, stay an appropriate amount of time and then make sure to congratulate him for surviving your family on the drive home down a darkened stretch of backroad.
“You’re making this really hard for me….” you breathed out in a cross between a huff and a groan, pressing your hands flat against his chest and pushing without much effort, almost as if you wanted to say you’d put up a fight and had lost. There was always Christmas dinner, that was right around the corner, right?
“I was about to say the same thing.” His voice was a little more than a growl, a rumble in his chest you could feel beneath your palms, still flattened on his chest.
“Marc, baby,” you whispered, a small yelp interrupting your next words as he nipped at your jaw just below your ear, he was good. Too good. Marc had a way of making you forget where you were, of making everything around you melt away until it was just  you and him, him and you, locked in perpetuity, together. “This isn’t going to get you out of wearing a tie….”
Marc groaned, his head falling to your bare shoulder and you turned to press your nose to his scalp, his soft, dark curls smelling of sandalwood and something distinctly him. “It was worth a shot….” he muttered after a moment before he kissed your collarbone and swiftly turned you around, giving you a slight, gently nudge toward the back bedroom. “Now go get dressed before I change my mind about taking that towel off.”
You sighed, pressing your knees together for a moment before you looked back at him over your shoulder, his hand pressed against the countertop for support, the bulge in his jeans clearly visible from where you stood. “Marc?”
His response was little more than a strained hum of acknowledgement, his eyes drawing up to you.
“Wear the tie Steven likes,” you smiled, partly knowing the playful tease would wedge somewhere under his skin, a small little dig, “it brings out your broody eyes. It’ll give you more of the boy-next-door look and less of the guy your mom warns you about.”
Tumblr media
You carefully opened the lid of the pink pie box, using a knife to tactfully slice the tape holding it closed.
When you made it to the back bedroom, still in your towel, you thought briefly about touching yourself, loudly enough to entice Marc to finish what he started. It took you half a minute to decide against it, instead picking out Marc’s favourite pleated skirt, the one that was just barely appropriate for a family dinner. The one he’d fucked you in over the back of your couch after he brought you home from your third date together at that cute mini putt place downtown.
If you couldn’t fuck him now you’d make him sweat through the dinner, make him think about all the ways he wanted to fuck you when you got home.
You were only slightly disappointed that Marc was in the shower when you headed back into the kitchen. Quickly though, the disappointment faded to dread when you realized that you still had to plate the Lie Pie, the Pumpkin Pretense.
You were trying to lift the pie out of the box, when you felt hands on your waist, “you’re not playing fair,” Marc’s voice was next to your ear, his breath warm against your neck sending a shiver down your spine, his chin resting on your shoulder.
“Jesus, Marc!” You jumped, your hand slipping off one side of the pie, your index finger and thumb dipping into the custard pumpkin filling and pieces of the perfect crust crumbling into the top of the pie. You froze and you could feel Marc stiffen at your back.
Marc broke the silence first. “It looks more… uh—realistically baked by you?” He rubbed the back of his neck and you huffed, carefully setting the pie back down in the box. You felt Marc leave your back and watched from the corner of your eye as he shuffled over to the cutlery drawer. “It’s okay—it’s fine. We’ll just, smooth it down and crumble some of the other edges and—”
You noticed that Marc was shirtless, his dark hair damp from the shower, a white towel tied around his waist. Suddenly, you felt like the skirt wasn’t diabolical enough. Your man naturally exuded “fuck me” vibes. You’d absolutely dine on this image of him through dinner. In fact, at this rate, your eyes raking over the hard lines of muscle banding his shoulders and arms, the deep cut of his abs trailing below the line of the towel, you’d be the one opting to skip Thanksgiving dinner and beg him to undo you.
When he moved back behind you, a butter knife in hand to remedy the situation, you could feel the outline of his cock, fitting just between your ass cheeks through the thin materials of the skirt and the towel. You swallowed thickly.
The thought made you smirk, Marc always wanted you and that thought alone drove you crazy with want. Still, you tried to remember that this was supposed to be the year that your family met him, this was supposed to be the big leap in your relationship with him.
“Okay, so just—,” you pointed to the spot on the pie where you could see the divots from your fingers. Marc moved the knife over to the spot you’d pointed to, carefully trying to figure out how he could make it look like a more natural flaw. “Yeah, I mean, I’d just kind of—”
Without thinking, you stuck your thumb in your mouth, carefully sucking off the custard as you pointed to the offending dents in the pie with your other hand. You noticed when the knife in Marc’s grip faltered and his knuckles whitened against the handle. You were sticking your index finger between your lips when you turned to look at him and froze, his face so close to yours, but his eyes were on your mouth and the finger currently trapped between your lips. You could hear his breathing hitch for a fraction of a second, his eyes darkening as his own tongue moved to whet his lips. Behind you, you could feel the length of him twitch against your body and it was enough to make the coiling heat pulse low, between your legs.
In a fraction of a second, he’d abandoned the knife on the counter with a clatter, grasping your wrist as he pulled your finger from your mouth and stuck it in his up to your second knuckle. Slowly, he pulled it from his mouth, careful to relish the taste of the sweet dessert on you.
“You had to go and do that, didn’t you?” He huffed lowly as your finger left his mouth, clean, the sound almost a rumble in his chest and you leaned your head back against him. You definitely weren’t going to make it in time for dinner, but you’d known that when you slipped into the skirt. You were playing a dangerous game around Marc and he’d broken first.
“Marc…” you tried to sound exasperated, but his name came out as a whine as his rough hand slid up your thigh and dipped under the hem of your skirt. You could feel his hard cock against your ass through his towel as he pressed himself against you tightly. Instinctively, you pushed back and ground yourself against him and he groaned in response, his arm banding around your waist and anchoring you to him.
Reaching behind yourself, you wriggled to reach his length, but he moved just out of your reach, your fingers just brushing the rigid outline of him beneath the towel.
“Careful, gorgeous,” he murmured in your ear, a low warning, “not too fast. I’ve been wanting you all fucking day—”
Your head swam, the thought of him inside of you, pumping, pulsing, stretching you, bottoming out on repeat blurred all else. His fingers reached for the line of your panties under your skirt, and paused when they found none. You could feel his smirk against your neck as he alternated between kissing and nipping.
“Looking for something?” You hummed, teasing. Pleated skirt and no panties—you’d been asking for it, waiting for him to discover it. Though, to be fair, you hadn’t expected he’d find out this soon, not while you were still at home, at least. In testing his resolve, you’d set a trap for yourself, overestimating your ability to keep yourself from him.
Marc didn’t pause for long, his fingers following the lines of your already slick pussy until he found your swollen clit and began to massage in long, generous strokes. You sighed, humming as you melted into his touch.
“Can’t decide if you’re a bad girl or a good one….” Marc’s voice was low, his hips rutting against you as if he couldn’t help himself, couldn’t keep from the pleasure he felt as his shaft rubbed against the towel that rubbed against you. You responded under his touch in kind before the sound of a grunt that escaped him had you turning in his arms to face him.
“I can decide for you,” you murmured, low, your tone just on the edge of sing-song, husky with want. You just wanted him inside of you, any way you could get him. You began to sink to your knees in front him, your fingers hooked on the top of his towel. It came away easily, the cotton pooling at his feet, his cock springing out, erect.
Coyly, from your knees, you looked up at him through your lashes as he looked down on you, his pupils blown wide. You kept direct eye contact as you ran your tongue, wide and flat on the underside of him, tracing the path of the pronounced vein from base to ridged tip, slowly.
The deep moan that you pulled from his lips was enough to undo you, your hand wrapping around the base of his shaft as you slowly guided the length of him inside your mouth.
“Fuck, baby. I—I just—if you,” his words were choppy, interspersed with muttered curses, grunts and groans as your tongue made careful paintings on the underside of his pulsing cock, the taste of precum filling your mouth with each pass. “I’m going to—fuck, baby—”
Marc pulled you up from your knees before he dropped to his, throwing one of your legs over his shoulder before he set in on your wet center.
Holding yourself against the counter behind you, you arched your back, biting your lip against the moan that sounded more like a plea for more. As you reached for an edge of counter to grip, the tips of your fingers nudged the abandoned pie box. “Marc—fuck, fuck, fuck—” You pressed yourself up on the tips of the toes on the one leg that was still planted on the ground, your toes on the leg over Marc’s shoulder curling until your foot threatened to cramp.
“You said boy-next-door,” Marc huffed out a small laugh, the edges of his voice tinged with need as he lightly kissed your throbbing clit. He knew exactly how to drive you to the edge of madness and hold you there until you begged him to throw you over. “Is that what you want me to be right now?”
“F—oh god, fuck the boy next door,” your words were without heat, your tongue heavy, your mind a swirl of fog; you were malleable in his hands, you’d do anything he asked if he just said the words.
“Oh, is that what you want? I can get Steven out here if you—” Marc teased, stopping the perfect alternation of tongue and nose, thumb and light, maddening suction with his lips against your pulsating center. Before he could finish, you ground your hips into his face, cutting off his next words as you pressed your pussy against his mouth, encouraging him to continue with a moan as he licked a stripe between your folds carefully. Marc was nothing if not tactical, precise.
“Marc,” his name came out strained as you braced yourself against the counter at your back, your leg hooked over his shoulder as his fingers dug into your ass, pinning you in place, “please…”
You could feel yourself ascending, reaching the peak, your hips gyrating against each stroke of his tongue as he ate you out.
“Say my name, baby...” he murmured, his finger slipping into your wet cunt, his chin and mouth slick with you as he looked up at you from under dark lashes, his deep brown eyes blown wide. His gaze held yours, your chest heaving with each deep stroke of his thick finger, before he added another and you gasped, stretching around them. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips before he dipped to pepper light, noisy kisses on your clit.
“Marc—” you barely formed his name, your hand leaving the counter to grab a handful of his beautiful hair. “Please, I need you, now, right now—holy fuck—.”
Marc hardly ever lost control, hardly ever cracked, but when he had you, naked and begging for him… you felt powerful, like you held kryptonite, the kind that would bring Marc to his knees, quite literally.
Marc stood, holding you steady as your leg slipped off his shoulder and you lost your balance. Grabbing a nearby stool, he lifted you swiftly onto the edge of it, wedging himself between your open legs, the tip of his weeping cock nudging your slick opening. He held himself there for a moment, his hands on your hips, steadying you, his eyes holding yours as you wriggled, chest heaving, on the verge of begging for him to fill you.
“Say it again,” Marc’s eyes, dark with lust, held yours and you complied.
“Fuck. Me.” You breathed the words, low and clear, his thumb rubbing through your folds rhythmically, “please.”
Marc didn’t need to be told twice, his hips thrusting up into you, his length filling you as you gasped. Each thrust pulled him out nearly all the way, the long strokes, paired with the pressure of his pubic bone send you cascading over the edge. Marc wasn’t far behind, his pulsing cock emptying inside of you as you squeezed around him and you both breathed out the sounds of release.
“Well—” you sighed, content as you carefully balanced on the edge of the stool, your breathing evening out as Marc stood before you naked, still erect. “I think we’re definitely going to be late now.”
“Fashionably late?” Marc shrugged, bending to gather the forgotten towel off the floor. As he straightened, he stepped up to the counter, reaching across to grab the bouquet of flowers. “At least we have these and the—” Marc’s hand swept across the counter, misjudging the distance between him and the pie box.
The low thud of the pink box, pie still inside, hitting the tiled floor in the kitchen quickly wiped away the post-sex haze and you looked up at Marc, his eyes shifting to the floor and back to you, apologetically.
Tumblr media
You shifted your weight as you and Marc stood on your parents’ porch, catching your breath after rushing from the car. Marc adjusted the cuffs of his shirt, still looking annoyingly put together despite the… delay. A delay that lead you to be a whole two hours late, between that and the pie clean up.
Meanwhile, you were still hoping no one would notice the hastily fixed flyaways in your hair or the slight flush on both your faces. You had left the skirt at home, put on some panties and changed into a more family appropriate green dress.
“You ready?” you asked, glancing at him, the glow of the yellowed porch light catching the angles on his face. “Remember, if my cousin Alex asks you about anything to do with his Art History classes, it’s okay to let Steven take the wheel for a bit…”
Marc smirked, his eyes raking over you appreciatively in a way that always made you feel loved. “More than ready. But next time, sweetheart, maybe we shouldn’t start something when there’s a ticking clock involved.”
You gave him a pointed look, though your lips twitched with amusement. “You’re the one who couldn’t keep his hands to himself.”
“You were wearing that skirt. I think you knew exactly what you were getting yourself into,” he teased, leaning in for a quick peck, “it’s not like you tried to stop me.”
Before you could retort, the door swung open.
“Finally!” your mom exclaimed, throwing her arms wide. “I thought I was going to have to start without you.” Her eyes lit up as she took Marc in. “And this must be Marc.”
Marc straightened, offering his hand with a charming smile. Oh good, he was trying the Steven approach first before laying into the smolder. “It’s great to finally meet you, Mrs—”
“Oh, none of that Mrs. nonsense,” your mom blustered, swatting his hand away to pull him into a hug instead. Marc stiffened for a beat before relaxing into it, casting you a slightly wide-eyed look over her shoulder.
Your mom pulled back, beaming. “I’ve heard so much about you. Now, come in, come in! Dinner’s almost ready, and everyone’s starving. Where’s that pie you were bringing?”
You froze for half a second before slipping seamlessly into a casual smile. “The pie?”
“Yes, the pie,” your mom said, hands on her hips. “Pumpkin, wasn’t it? You said you’d bring it. You texted me about it this afternoon—”
Marc opened his mouth to speak, but you jumped in, shooting him a sly grin. “Oh, uh—there was a pie shaped accident… a tragic end, really. I was really proud of the way it turned out too.”
“Tragic end?” your mom repeated, eyebrows arching.
Marc cleared his throat, stepping in smoothly to fill the gap. “Completely my fault, actually. I wasn’t paying attention, and it ended up on the floor. I promise to make it up to you—I’ve got a knack for desserts. Next time, I’ll bake something myself.”
Your mom looked between the two of you, her lips twitching as though she didn’t quite buy the story but wasn’t going to press. “Well, accidents happen,” she said, waving it off. “But next time, you’re on pie duty, Marc.”
Marc smiled, his charm dialed up to full. “It’s a deal.”
As your mom led the way to the dining room, you leaned into Marc, whispering, “Nice save.”
“You owe me,” Marc smirked down at you, his hand brushing the small of your back.
“Pretty sure you’re the one who owes me, pie destroyer.”
His low chuckle followed you both into the warm chaos of Thanksgiving dinner.

What a shame, you think, standing alone at the edge of Jackson’s perimeter fence, where the grass grows too tall and the patrol logs are never neat anymore. This was your spot. Yours and hers.
Not that it mattered now. You hadn’t spoken to Ellie in three weeks.
It started slow. She started pulling away. You tried not to notice—when she stopped coming to guitar nights, when she flaked on helping you with supply sorting, when her eyes didn’t light up anymore when she saw you first.
Then came the harder signs. The way she stopped laughing at your jokes. The way she’d glance over her shoulder like she was being watched. The way she sat stiffly beside you, always just a little too far.
And then the final blow: Cat’s voice, hissing over the crackle of tension in the pub after patrol.
“She’s obsessed with you. Everyone sees it. I won’t let her ruin this.”
“You don’t see it, Ellie? The way she looks at you? It’s pathetic.”
“If you don’t end it—I will.”
You hadn’t heard the argument. You’d only seen the aftermath in Ellie’s eyes the next day. Cold. Guilt-drenched. Distant.
“Hey,” she had said, voice hollow. “We… we probably shouldn’t hang out anymore.”
You blinked. “What?”
“It’s just—it’s not working. This—us.”
You didn’t ask what she meant. Didn’t want to give her the chance to twist the knife. You just nodded. Smiled, even. Told her it was fine.
“Sure. Yeah. I get it. We were just friends anyway.”
That was a lie. You’d been in love with her for months.
The kind of love that crept in during the quiet moments—when her hand would brush yours grabbing an ammo box, when she’d sing under her breath while cleaning her gun, when she’d make stupid puns and wait for your laughter like it was the only sound she needed.
You never acted on it. Never even hinted. Not after she started dating Cat. You respected the line, even if it burned like hell.
But Cat didn’t care about lines. Cat cared about control.
And she saw you as a threat.
Weeks pass. Ellie pretends well. You watch her from afar—on patrols, in the mess hall, walking with Cat’s arm hooked around hers like a shackle disguised as love. She doesn’t look happy. But she looks obedient. Like she’s playing a part.
And maybe that’s the worst part of all. Watching the one person who used to look at you like you were a miracle, now barely able to meet your eyes.
Until one night… you get a knock.
It’s nearly midnight. You open your door and she’s there—hood up, hands shaking, eyes red.
“Ellie?”
She steps inside without asking.
“I’m sorry,” she says, voice cracking. “I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
You stare at her. “Then why did you?”
She doesn’t answer right away. Just looks around your little cabin like she’s trying to memorize it. Like she won’t see it again.
“She said it was her or you,” Ellie finally says. “And I panicked. I didn’t want to lose her. But I—”
Her voice falters.
“But you lost me anyway,” you whisper.
Ellie breaks.
“I miss you so much it’s killing me.”
Your heart lurches. But then you remember. Remember the silence. The distance. The betrayal.
“You let her decide for you,” you say, tears burning. “And now you’re here—what? To fix it?”
“No,” she says, voice small. “I just… I wanted you to know. Before I go.”
You frown. “Go?”
“She’s leaving Jackson,” Ellie says. “She wants me to go with her.”
Silence. Pain rings in your ears.
“When?” you ask.
“Tomorrow.”
And just like that, you know it’s over. She leans forward, close enough to feel her breath.
“I love you,” she whispers, eyes glossy. “I just didn’t realize it until it was too late.”
Your lip trembles.
You don’t kiss her. You don’t touch her. You just stand there and say:
“What a shame.”
She leaves before sunrise. And this time, you don’t chase her.
The letter is crumpled, edges smudged like it’s been folded and unfolded too many times. It was never sent. You find it months later in your patrol satchel, tucked between pages of an old sketchbook Ellie gave you long ago.
"Dear y/n,
I don’t even know if I’ll send this. Knowing me, I probably won’t. Cat watches everything. She’d know. She always knows.
It’s snowing where we are now. Some isolated place west of Denver. Feels like the world ended twice out here. People walk like ghosts and speak like they’re afraid their words might shatter. I think that’s why Cat likes it. Quiet. Clean. No one asking questions. No one remembering who we used to be.
But I remember. I remember you.
I dream about Jackson. Not the place. Not the walls or the horses or the stupid creaky floorboards in the bar. I dream about you—your laugh when you’re sleep-deprived, the way you say my name when you’re annoyed but trying not to be, the stupid crinkle in your nose when you catch me staring.
I used to be so sure I was doing the right thing by leaving. Now I think I’m just surviving out of spite.
Cat’s… different out here. She says she loves me, but it doesn’t feel like love. It feels like a cage lined in compliments and I’m too tired to ask for the key. Every time I try to draw, she asks why it’s always your face I’m sketching. I lie and say it’s just habit. It’s not.
I miss your voice. I miss our space. I miss the way you made me feel like I could breathe without earning it.
I think I made the wrong choice. Scratch that—I know I did.
I should’ve fought for you. Should’ve told you I loved you before she ever made me choose. I think about that moment all the time. How your face didn’t even crack when I said we should stop being friends. How you just nodded and let me go.
Did it hurt you? God, I hope it didn’t. But I know it did. I don’t deserve you after that.
But I need you to know—there hasn’t been a single day I haven’t thought about going back. About showing up at your door and finally saying it right. Without fear. Without guilt.
Just: “I love you. I’m sorry. Let me come home.”
But I don’t know if home wants me anymore.
If you’re reading this—somehow, if I ever do get the courage to send it—please just know: I carry you with me. In every mile. Every drawing. Every time I wake up and think I hear your voice in my dreams.
I hope you're okay. I hope you’re free. I hope… maybe someday, you’ll forgive me.
Love always,
Ellie"
Ellie checks the post every day for two weeks.
She pretends she’s just curious about trade routes, or looking for news from Jackson. But her stomach twists when the caravan approaches, and she always finds herself lingering by the supply cart longer than necessary—just in case. Just in case there’s a letter. A scrap of handwriting. A name in the corner that might mean forgiveness. There never is.
Cat watches her too closely now. Maybe she knows. Maybe she’s read the letter Ellie hid under the floorboard before she could send it. Or maybe she doesn’t need to read it. Maybe she just feels it—the way Ellie disappears sometimes in thought, sketching in the dim candlelight with a kind of ache that doesn’t belong to her anymore.
Cat hates when she draws.
“You’re not even here when I’m talking,” Cat says one night, slamming a mug on the table hard enough to slosh whiskey over the edge. “Always off in your head. What do you even think about when you look like that?”
Ellie doesn’t answer.
She doesn’t say: her.
She doesn’t say: the way she used to laugh at my stupid puns.
Or: how she always knew when I needed silence, not space.
Or: how she was the only one who ever really looked at me without expecting something back.
Instead, she says nothing. Cat goes to bed angry. Ellie sketches in the dark. No lamps. Just memory.
She imagines you reading the letter—eyes scanning each line slowly, maybe your fingers trembling, maybe a tear rolling down your cheek as you whisper her name into your empty kitchen. But that’s the thing about silence.
It tells a story louder than anything else.
Weeks turn into months. The winter deepens. Ellie grows quieter, colder, even with Cat pressing herself closer each night, seeking something Ellie has long buried in a place she’s never getting back.
The drawing of you stays in her journal. A ghost she welcomes.
Sometimes, late at night when the snow winds howl against the old cabin windows, she opens the page and just stares. Waiting.
But silence answers, over and over and over again.
What a shame.

With a contented sigh, you opened the door to the house you shared with your mother. Even though you were technically an adult now, you had decided to stay with her, helping her around the house. A child of divorce, you’d always been a little overprotective of her, and couldn’t imagine her alone.
“Did you have a good skate, honey?” Your mother asked, watching from the living room as you hung your skates on the hook by the door. With your thumb, you furiously rubbed off a scuff mark off the shiny surface and nodded. Boy, did you. Best skate you’d ever had. Using your heels to slip your sneakers off, and kicking them towards the rest of the shoes, you laughed. “Yeah, I went real fast tonight and–”
The phone interrupted your next words, ringing shrilly. You practically stumbled towards it, reaching out for it like a parched man reaches for water. Your insides wound themselves in knots, just knowing that it was Peter on the other end.
“H-hello?”
“Hey cutie.” He’d waited. As long as he could without losin’ his ever loving mind. Which, he wondered if he already had, considering how bad he was aching to hear your voice again. Maybe he’d already lost it.
“Hi,” you hummed, turning away from your mother. You brought your tone lower, hushed.
“Did you just get home?”
“Yeah, Peter, I did.”
“Dang, slow poke. I’ve been home for a while.”
“Okay, well,” you laughed. “That’s not fair.”
“When do we get to uh… hang out again? Huh? I’m already jonesin’ to see you again. With or without skates.” Peter adjusted the phone against his ear, waiting.
You peeked around the corner. Your mother was busy with her program, no longer paying attention to your conversation, likely assuming that it was just one of your girlfriends. How wrong she was…
“Hang out? Is that what we did?”
“Yea’, er… somethin’ like that.”
“Whenever you want.”
“Aw, man, don’t say that…”
“Why not?” You ducked around the corner and plopped down on the third step of the staircase, winding the cord around your fingers. You knew why. You heard the way that Peter’s breath hitched in his throat, even through the phone.
“Like… now?”
“...Right now?” You asked back, almost in a teasing tone. “Like right now?”
“Yeah!” His tone was bright and excited, and it sounded like he was already out of breath.
“My house?” The suggestion was brave, but you knew your mom would be going to sleep within the half-hour. If you stayed quiet, she wouldn’t hear you over her bedroom TV.
“Yeah! I mean…” He cleared his throat, trying to act casual. Way more casualness was needed - he was acting super lame and way too into you. Maybe you liked that. Maybe you didn’t. He couldn’t risk it. “Sure. If you want.”
You began whispering your address, your eyes flitting to the living room. Your mother rose from the chair and went to the kitchen, none the wiser. You continued, knowing Peter had already committed it to memory. Your mother leaned down to cup your face as she went up the stairs and mouthed goodnight, and you covered the receiver with your hand.
“Night, mom. Love you.”
“Be there in a flash.” You heard him say.
You wanted to tell him to wait, but the line was already dead. As you moved, your hands shook and fumbled the receiver, dropping it once before getting it back on its cradle. Your mother had hardly gotten up the steps, and he’d be there any second, if he wasn’t already. You heard the door click shut and heaved a sigh of relief.
“Mom?” You said, testingly. She didn’t respond, so you launched your body up the carpeted stairs, running up them like a four-legged animal. Her door was shut, nothing but the dull glow of her bedside table seeping through the crack at the bottom of the door. You raced back down the stairs, your socks padding quietly down them, despite the speed.
Your bedroom was down the hall, past the kitchen. You’d never been gladder to be on the bottom floor. You crept into your room, edging the door shut until the latch clicked into place and as it did, paused to laugh at yourself; you were doing everything so sneakily, as though you were a child acting out. You were a grown woman, albeit still in your mom’s house, but the point remained. Pushing aside the curtains, you carefully maneuvered the window up. It was a warm summer evening, there was no reason why you wouldn't open your window - perfectly normal, if your mother heard it. You stuck your head out. No Peter. Surely, he’d have been here by now. You breathed, looking at the base of the tree outside your window. A squirrel skittered up into the branches. Just as you were about to pull your head back inside, Peter’s head comically poked out from the corner of the house. He had clearly been standing by the front door, which horrified you.
“Took so long, I was about to knock – .”
You shushed him, and whispered harshly for him to get inside. He stuck one leg in, climbing in carefully – the last thing he needed was to be a total klutz and eat it on your bedroom floor.
“You’re crazy, you know that? The front door!?”
“Cool your jets, babe. You didn’t tell me which window was yours. Where’s your mom?”
“Upstairs, hopefully sleeping.”
“Good,” he murmured into your lips, suddenly in front of you. He’d caught you off guard with his speed, but like everything he’d done from the moment he’d complimented your skates, he was so frustratingly cute. The kiss was warm and soft, you were in no position to resist it. He kissed you back towards the bed, his hands cupping your breasts, thumb tweaking your nipples over your shirt. Which reminded you… you were still in your skating clothes. There was far too much fabric in between his thumb and your nipple.
“Lemme’,” you murmured sloppily into his lips, before finally pulling back. “Lemme’ change first, okay? It’ll look less suspicious. Who needs to cool their jets, huh?”
“Sorry, sorry.” Hands up, Peter took a step back, watching you as you sauntered off towards your small closet. Your hips swayed back and forth to a song that wasn’t playing. Probably something you’d heard at the skating rink. You could admit it, you were putting on a bit of a show in hopes of arousing him.
Still though, you hurried, sliding the doors open and pulling your shirt over your head. You reached around and undid your bra, glancing back at him cheekily. Woah, jackpot… he thought, hoping, that at that point, he wasn’t drooling like a cartoon dog. He was watching you intently, a crooked grin plastered on his face. Neck turned, you held his gaze, daring him to look as you slid your shorts and panties down over the curve of your ass. He looked, but it was so fast of a peek that it was impossible for you to notice. Now finished with your impromptu strip tease, you pulled a sleeping shirt from the shelf and threw it on, spinning on your heels to face him.
Clad in nothing but the oversized t-shirt, you marched back to Peter, who had taken a seat on the edge of your bed. You climbed behind him, sliding your hands up the round muscle of his shoulders. On your knees, you were just taller than him and decided to take advantage of that by kissing his neck, slowly. You nipped here and there, suckling in other places while your hands explored the front of his shirt, ghosting over the faded print.
Peter started sweating, and the stiffness between his legs got worse. Much worse. There was no hiding it, or ignoring it and he could’ve sworn that he heard you giggle behind him. His expression was a melange of pain and pleasure, and as your hands neared his crotch, he couldn’t really tolerate much more of your tender kissing…
“Babe,” In a blur of motion, your back was pressed against your mattress, and he was back to tweaking your nipples again, rolling them between his thumb and forefinger. The action made you squirm. “Your foreplay is bitchin’, but you’re driving me crazy. Loco. I feel like I’m gonna’ bust.”
“Okay, so now what?”
“Now what?” He repeated, almost mockingly. “It’s my turn.”
His hand trailed down from your breasts over the curve of your stomach to the soft mound between your legs. You felt a buzzing directly on the sensitive bundle of nerves and looked down, equal parts confused and aroused. It was his hand, and not a vibrator, but instead of seeing his fingers move back and forth, you saw a flesh-coloured blur. Everything you’d learned about fingering… in the span of a few hours, he’d completely shattered. So, he could finger-fuck you at super-speed, and he could literally vibrate your clit. Of course he could.
“Oh my god,” you moaned, an intoxicating lilt to your words. Peter groaned, and ground his hips against the side of your thigh. His finger dipped down, collecting some of your warm, slithery wetness and pulling it back up, smearing it around your folds.
You clapped your hand over your mouth, legs quivering. The pad of his middle finger continued tapping your clit and you felt the very rapid climb of your orgasm. Without warning from him, Peter’s hand drifted away from your pussy, his slick fingers gripping your thigh. “Babe, I’m thirsty.”
“Wh-what?” Breathless and sweaty, you quirked a brow at him.
“You got a soda or something?”
“Uh, yeah, in the kitchen. Y-you’re really thirsty right now?”
Before you could protest, you stood in the kitchen. He had opened the fridge, popped the tab on a can of Coke, guzzled it, and tossed it into the bin. You blinked. “What… Peter…!” You sniggered, covering your mouth to muffle the sound of your own voice. Your mother’s bedroom was right above the living room, and the last thing you wanted was her to wake.
He couldn’t help himself, couldn’t wait any longer. He’d gotten you downstairs, and now it was time to up the ante. Wrapping his arms around you, Peter zipped to the couch, and could’ve fucked your wet little cunt right there on the sofa. In the span of a few seconds, Peter could’ve drilled his aching cock inside of you, just long enough for you to feel it, just long enough for him to bust inside you and just long enough to make you quiver. Instead, he hovered over you, looking deep into your eyes, chest heaving.
“What’re you so nervous for, babe? You know that the second I hear footsteps, we’d be back in your room.”
“Peter, we can’t… my mom is right above us, dude!”
“You’re no fun, c’mon.” He craned his neck down, pressing a few teasing kisses along your exposed collarbone. “C’mon, babe.”
You whimpered, rolling your lips inward and your eyes upward. For being such a top tier goof ball, he was unnervingly good at making you feel like your entire body was on fire. That electric current that you felt at the roller rink was back, buzzing through you at a high voltage.
“Peter…” you begged, hoping he’d change his mind because the reality was that he’d get his way if he didn’t. You were too turned on and too into him to say no.
“C’moooon.” Another kiss. Internally, he was ripping stuffing. His confidence was outrageous, where did he get the balls? He wished you were holdin’ his – no. Stop right there. You ran your tongue along your teeth, and Peter watched the wet muscle as it swept across the enamel, glistening.
“You promise?”  you asked.
He nodded, too eagerly, his silver hair flopping with the motion. “Scout’s honour, or whatever. She won’t know a thing.”
With a little huff, you spread your legs, allowing him in. Peter wasted no time in letting that wet, aching monster free, immediately pulling his gray boxers down over his balls. You pressed your hips into the couch cushions, backing away from the heat that met your groin and Peter followed them, pressing his hips right back into you. He groaned breathily, rutting his hips. You were soft and warm underneath him, and felt so soo good. The shaft of his cock met your wet folds, and he immediately found a rhythm, humping you in long, steady thrusts that had you curling your toes. Every time the velvet plush head of his cock bumped into your swollen clit, you whimpered. Ecstasy deluded your senses, eyes rolling back in your head.
“Peter, oh my god…!” His hand clamped over your mouth, his dark eyes widening in a warning.
“Shhhhhhh –”
You nodded underneath his grip, remembering the threat of the situation. Peter kept his hand on your mouth, pressing tightly against your soft lips. He reached down, taking hold of his cock and pumped it in and out of his own fist a few times before lining up with your entrance.
“Ready?”
With lusty, half-lidded eyes, you nodded.
Peter pushed his leaking tip inside of you, then with a shaky breath, sunk the rest of the way in. The sensation of your walls stretching to accommodate his thick cock was indescribable; hot, tight pleasure coursed through your body in waves as Peter found his rhythm. Fast. Fast rhythm. He fucked like a teenage boy, and you liked that – his bunny humps were deep and intentional, like the crimson head was trying to find the deepest point inside of you. Peter pressed his lightning-bolt patterned socks against the armrest of the couch, using it as leverage to push himself inside of you.
His cock made slick by your arousal, his hips moved against yours rapidly, hammering your cunt in a way that you physically thought impossible. In the darkness, you saw Peter smirk crookedly, pleased with the visual below him. Your tits bouncing underneath the shirt with each thrust, your eyes wide and lust-blown. His gaze dropped to them, watching, entranced. With your free hand, you reached for the hem of your shirt, pulling it up to your collarbone and letting your breasts fall free.
“Oh fuck,” he whispered.
Skates fast. Fucks fast. Cums fast. You thought, watching as his face contorted, his eyebrows knitting together, jaw dropping. His breaths came out in hurried little huffs as he pumped inside of you, filling your cunt with sticky, white heat.
“Honey?”
He froze. You froze. Stiffly, you turned your head towards the staircase, looking up into the darkness, petrified.
“YEAH! YEah, mom, just… getting a drink!” You tried to keep your voice level, but there was something so inherently naughty about having a guy on top of you, his dick inside of you while you spoke to your mother. Your stomach was tight, muscles burning with the contraction.
“Oh, okay! I thought I heard - I don’t know. I love you!”
“I love you too! Goodnight!”
Once the door clicked shut, and your head snapped back in Peter’s direction, who was still panting on top of you. Slapping his pectoral muscle hard, you mouthed go go go go! Naturally, before you’d finished the last ‘go’, Peter had pulled out and you were back in the safety of your bedroom before a drop of cum had time to leak from your swollen cunt. Back on your bed, your hair splayed out on the satin pillowcases. Peter was at your side, drawing circles on the exposed flesh of your stomach.
“Did you uh -”
“No… I didn’t have a chance.”
“Oh, uh… sorry about that. That happens a lot, y’know? Part of the whole speedster thing, I can’t always –”
“Peter… shhh… it’s cute. It means you like me.”
He pointed a finger at you, pushing his bottom lip into his top. “That… that is true. Hey. I have an idea.”
In the darkness, only illuminated by the moonlight that filtered in through the window, you saw Peter sink down to his stomach, resting between your legs. He moved both legs atop his shoulders, pulling you forward.
You felt a hot breath against your thighs, and whimpered. When a warm tongue licked between your wet folds, you moaned out, grinding your head back into the pillow. Peter slipped a single digit into your cunt gently, twirling his tongue around your clit as he did. He pumped it in and out a few times, feeling the way your cunt squeezed around him. Your wetness coated his finger, dripping down the length into his palm.
You felt your cunt clenching, uncontrollably. Peter did too and withdrew his finger. His tongue flicked at your clit rapidly, the wet, slick sounds filling the quietness of the bedroom. His dark eyes flitted up to yours, watching every minute expression that flashed across your face.
“S-slow down…” you whispered, not loud enough for him to hear. It was more of a desperate breath in the shape of the words. He didn’t hear you, and even if he had, he was far too busy burying his nose in your cunt, tasting your sweet fluids. His tongue lapped at your entrance and curled back towards his throat, swallowing. He groaned into her, the sound resonating through your core.
“Peter… Peter!” You whispered harshly, gripping his head on either side. He didn’t budge, and his eyes drifted shut in ecstasy. Moving up to take a fistful of silver hair, you yanked him off your cunt, his reddened lips glistening and open, confused. His inky orbs looked up at you, dazed and desperate.
“Whaaat?” he asked, a hint of annoyance tainting his usually upbeat voice.
“Slow… down….”
“Sorry but that’s not really… my…” He paused, looking at your weeping cunt again. “...thing. She doesn’t really look like she wants me to, either.” He reached forward, sweeping a single digit along the length of your pussy. You jerked, sensitive.
“I can’t stand it, I’m gonna’ cum too quickly.”
“Quick is in the name, babe.” He shrugged his shoulders, as if telling you that you were shit out of luck.
He dove back in, and picked up licking her again, from bottom to top. He was slightly slower than before – maybe he’d decided to have mercy on you. Or maybe he was just savouring the feeling of your cunt as it practically fluttered on his tongue, your clit throbbing with the sensitivity. You rocked your hips against his mouth, humping his pretty face with reckless abandon. It was the only control you had, because as soon as you started that, his tongue had returned to the speedy flipping of your clit.
You were going to cum – so fast that you hardly had time to process it.
“Ffffuck… oh god,” you whimpered. Your cunt pulsed over and over again, and Peter was right there to feel it. He speared two fingers into her. Curled them upwards, feeling the clench of your orgasm as it came. He fucked you with his fingers until the throbbing stopped, and the first hint of overstimulation came – you whined, too loudly.
Peter grinned, his slick fingers slipping from your pussy. With a mischievous little glimmer in his eyes, he observed them, watching as the thick, clear strands strung apart between his digits.
You wanted to ask him on a date. He wanted to ask you on one. But neither of you said a thing. Neither of you said a thing, and just watched each other breathing, chests heaving, heavy with lust. Lookin’ cuter than she ever has… Peter thought, watching you in your post-coital state; sweaty and blushing.
You knew you were going to be obsessed with him – were already obsessed with him. The high that you chased with skating was nothing compared to what you felt being around this silver dork, and all his little quirks.
“So uh… same bat-time, same bat channel?”
You chuckled. “Yeah, Peter. Yeah.”

It couldn’t have been more obvious even if you tried. Unfortunately everyone knew that from the second you met Bucky you were smitten. Fortunately he didn’t.
You had convinced yourself that the super soldier would never look at you the same way in which you did him, especially after hearing the history he shared with Natasha, she was everything you weren’t - strong, brave, in your eyes more beautiful than yourself, she was exactly the one Bucky would definitely pick if it came down to him having to choose.
Not that you would ever allow that to happen, you knew your heart wouldn’t be able to handle the rejection and humiliation.
Yet that didn’t stop you from pining after the beautiful human that is Bucky Barnes.
“Steve?”
Turning to the sound of the soft voice behind him, a smile instantly broke out on his tired face. “Hey, what’s up?”
“I- I was just wondering if you happened to know what Bucky’s favourite cookies are? Or-or if he even likes cookies but everyone likes cookies… right?”
A soft look over took his features as he listened to you ramble as your fingers twisted against each other. “You like him, don’t you?”
“N-no, yes, no, don’t be silly- that’s ridiculous.”
“You like him.” The blond smirks before chuckling as your face pales. “Don’t worry, he likes you too. He loves chocolate chip ones, always has, I’ve got to go alright, see you later for movie night, yeah?”
He likes you too kept replaying over and over, Steve wouldn’t lie to you, right? Especially not about this, surely. Before you could even ask him if he was being truthful or not he had already left. “O-okay, bye.”
Tumblr media
Bucky found you in the kitchen the next morning covered in flour - as he wiped the sleep from his eyes he couldn’t stop the smile from creeping onto his face as he watched you make more of a mess in the kitchen then Sam whenever he was let loose in there. “Mornin’ doll.” The scream you let out caused him to flinch and hold his hands up in mock surrender. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.”
“I nearly- my heart is pounding now!”
“Sorry. Are you okay?”
“‘M fine.” It was only then when you looked up did you notice that he was standing just a few feet away from you without a shirt on, you knew for a fine fact that he caught you staring at his naked chest - being subtle wasn’t exactly your speciality. With bright red cheeks and three attempts of clearing your throat you managed to speak up, although it came out much more high pitched then you wanted. “C-coffee?”
A deep chuckle breaks past the plumb lips that you had imagined what they would feel like against your own - on more occasions than you cared to admit. “I can make it, doll. What you up to, anyway? Other than destroying the kitchen.”
Playfully rolling your eyes at him then frowning when your eyes traveled the countertops that were covered with flour, egg shells and other mess, you hadn’t quite realised how messy you had been. “I’m making cookies.”
“At half six in the morning?”
“Yeah.”
“Do I get one?”
“Well… you- well the thing is you get a tray full o-only because I want to ask you for a favour.”
As his head tilted to the side your cheeks burned, you had no idea how to really ask the question, if he said no then that meant you had been up since five trying and failing to make the perfect cookies for him - then you would have to run away and never be seen again, okay maybe thats a bit to dramatic but still it would be absolutely embarrassing. “Doll? Y/n? You alright?”
“Huh? Yeah I’m fine, why?”
“Well you’ve just been standing there for the past five minutes just staring at me- well not as much staring but squinting, like this.” The half naked beautiful man standing in front of you with a cup of freshly done coffee in one hand whilst the other went to his hip and mimicked not only your facial expression but your stance.
Much to your annoyance.
“I did not look like that!”
“You really did doll, I thought you were broken for a minute there.” As you roll your eyes at him, again, he chuckles. “What’s the favour anyway?”
“What? Oh yeah, I was wondering- you can say no if you want too but I was wonder- and again please know it’s okay to say no but would you like to come to the bookfair with me? Today? Leaving in two hours, earlier the better and all that.” By the time the words come out and register in your own ears you wince. That was so painful. What's worse is that he’s just staring at you with a hint of amusement on his face. “It’s okay, it’s stupid, you can still have the cook-”
“You just want me to carry all the hundreds and thousands of books back for you, don’t you?”
“Firstly, it won’t be hundreds and thousands. And secondly… yes.”
“And you thought you could bribe me with cookies?”
“Yes… that’s- it’s stupid, I’m sorry.”
“Doll you don’t need to bribe me with anything, I’ll happily carry anything for you for free.” He tells you truthfully. Never in the few years he had known you had he ever lied to you, and he wasn’t going to start doing it now. “But I still want the cookies. Make sure you shower unless you want to go with flour in your hair.”
Tumblr media
As you made your way towards the car where Bucky was leaning up against a shy chuckle left your lips as the man commented on how delicious the cookie was that he had just eaten - using his flesh hand to get rid of the few crumbs that had fallen into the stubble on his face.
The car ride was mostly silent with only the radio playing filling in the air quietly as Bucky drove down the road, he wouldn’t admit it but he had plans with both Steve and Sam but quickly mentally cancelled on the pair the moment you had asked him for a favour.
He enjoyed spending time alone with you - cherishing each time you both sat in silence reading a book or strolling through the park with you by his side as he listened to the back stories you gave each person you saw.
He would never admit that every time you had a smile on your face and it was directed at him, his heart would always skip a beat. He truly would listen to your rambles about your hobbies or your retelling of how your day had gone in full detail forever without complaint if you let him.
When he officially joined the team the last thing on his mind was the possibility of falling in love with someone, then he met you. He tried to keep his distance at first, not quite liking the feelings he had developed so quickly for someone that he barely knew yet no matter the distance he put between you both he couldn’t help but search for you in every room he went in - listening intently in hopes he could hear your voice or infectious laugh that always have his stoic expression to crack as a smile formed on his lips.
He had often wondered what would happen if he ever spoke up and actually told you how he felt - every scenario that played in his head always ended with him either being smacked across the face, laughed at or being left completely humiliated by you telling him that you felt nothing for him.
Bucky would never let himself believe that you could actually like him back, at least not in the way he did.
“Bucky?”
Your soft voice broke him out of his thoughts, blinking a couple of times before looking over at you. “Yeah?”
“We’re here. Want to come in with me?”
“Of course, who's going to carry the billion of books you're going to get?” Before you could respond he had gotten out and made his way to the passenger side door and opened it. “M’lady.”
“Why thank you, my good man.” You bowed causing him to roll his eyes as a chuckle left his lips. “Also it’s not going to be billions of books.”
“Liar.”
Sticking your tongue out at him, you hold out your arm for him to link arms. “Let’s go and get me a billion books.”
Tumblr media
With each book that was placed into Bucky’s arms he complained.
A lot.
Yet each time you tried to remove them he moved away from you, telling you that he was only messing around. Happily accepting another that got added to the pile.
Just to complain again.
By the time you were finished Bucky joked that his arms were about to fall off - a loud laugh fell from his lips startling those around the two of you when you tried and failed to push him away.
“Do you- are you hungry?” Making sure the books were tucked away safely in the boot of the car, you turned to face the super soldier. “We can go and get some food. My treat, promise.”
“Sure but I’m paying.”
“No it’s fine, I asked so I pay.”
“Absolutely not, doll.” Squinting his eyes at you as you try to argue back, he grins as you nod in agreement. “Want to walk or?”
Shaking your head. “Let’s walk, it’s a nice day out.”
Bucky’s the one that holds his arm out this time, smiling softly to himself as you link arms with his. The two of you walked down the street with him making sure he was closer to the road and unbeknownst to you glaring at anyone that stared at you for longer than he deemed necessary as you talked happily about the books you had picked up.
In your favourite little restaurant Bucky being the gentleman that he is pulled your chair out and pushed it back in once you were settled, your cheeks ablazed at the action, the pair of you spoke quietly before the waitress came over to take your orders - he doesn’t even bat an eye when she openly flirts with him.
“So, are you happy with your new collection?” He asks once the food arrives.
“I am, though I have no idea where I’m going to put them because my bookshelves are full already.”
An amusement chuckle leaves him as he shakes his head. “And you just keep adding to it?”
“Obviously.” You grin.
“What’s your favourite book?”
Watching your face light up as you spoke so passionately about a book that he had to admit he has never heard off, it was in that moment that he knew that he would happily spend the rest of his life listening to your voice.
Tumblr media
“The night is still young, want to head back or go to the park?” Bucky asks as the two of you walked arm in arm down the street, leaving the restaurant nearly three hours after the food was eaten - the two of you lost in your own world to the point that neither one of you were picking up the subtle hint coming from the waitress until she placed the bill on the table, which led to a playful argument about who was going to pay, he won by distracting you with the help of a dog walking past the window.
“Park! But can we go and get some seeds for the ducks?”
“Seeds? Thought they like bread?”
“No, bread is bad for them.”
“Oh… didn’t know that but of course we can.” The smile that you gave him made his heart thump loudly that he was sure you could hear it.
Sitting on the bench in front of the large pond where you were both surrounded by the ducks that called the pond home, Bucky couldn’t contain his laughter as you told off two ducks fighting over the food.
Even when the food was gone and the ducks had moved away the two of you sat there watching as the world went by with a conversation that flowed so effortlessly and never felt uncomfortable.
“Y/n?”
“Yeah?”
“I- I-” Shaking his head as his cheeks turned red, his eyes looking anywhere but at you. “It doesn’t matter.”
“What is it?”
“It’s stupid, honestly.”
“Are you sure? Whatever it is-”
“I like you.” He cut you off, wincing once the words that he had been wanting to say for so long blurted out. “I mean I like you as a friend and something more-” Jumping up, you watched as he paced up and down as his hands dragged down his face. “That sounds so stupid, now I’ve ruined things, I’m so sorry Y/n. Just forget I said any-”
“Do you mean it? T-that you like me?”
Hearing the slight tremble in your voice had him spinning around to face you. “More than anything. I’m in love with you.”
Your heart thumped painfully hearing those words. Bucky Barnes is in love with you. Smiling softly as you stand from the wooden bench, his baby blues stayed trained on your face as you got closer. “I’m in love with you too.”
Tumblr media
Walking into the common room where everyone sat no one batted an eye at seeing the two of you holding hands or the stack of books in Bucky’s left arm, the only reaction they had was Steve holding his hand out nodding in thanks when everyone placed money into his palm.

Icarus Falling Far.
(Part 3)

(This is not beta’s so any mistakes are my own)
Part 2 ⬇️:
———————
Bold is readers thoughts
Italics is Bucky's thoughts
This starts in Bucky’s POV.
———————
His home office was always the place he went to feel at peace. Ironic really, considering the dealings done within the room. The walls had seen him order his men to assassinate his rivals, to eliminate anybody that got in their way. The desk had felt the tip of the pen write extortionate contracts, sent silently to some of the cities most powerful people, the non-explicit threat sent with photos of their family’s, to reminds them what they were risking if they refused to comply. The window that felt the full strength of his prosthetic too many times to count. The hole in the floor after one of his employees managed to literally shoot himself in the foot. {guess who}
But his peace was teetering on a cliffs edge. His hands were woven into his hair, pulling to try and alleviate the headache forming. Elbows resting on his desk as his eyes stayed staring at one specific groove in the wood.
A knock at the door broke his trance and he sighed. It was a rule in the Compound that if the boss was in his office and the door was closed, you do not interrupt or enter unless there was an emergency. Only one man was brave enough to completely disregard Bucky’s rule, which had led to some… interesting situations when Bucky had girls in there with him.
“Come in,” he called, knowing the longer he waited to respond, the louder and more incessant the knocking would become.
The door opened and there was Bucky’s very own personal dumbass: Steve Rogers. The man had been a part of Bucky’s life since as long as he could remember, if-fact some of his earliest memories were with Steve; young boys playing cops and robbers together, attempting to protect Steve when he picked a fight he had no business being in- which had led to Bucky getting his ass beat as well, and scheming together about how to make sure that Simon Justin never played baseball again after pulling his sisters hair on the playground.
“Fuck me Buck, I’m not sure if today could have been anymore fucked,” Steve stated as he collapsed on to the couch, flinging his legs over one arm and resting his head in the other.
Today was a stressful fucking day.
It was the day that Bucky was making all necessary moves. Why all the problems had to pop up now, he wasn’t sure. And the kicker to this awful day? He had no time to talk to you, the girl he could not get out of his head, no matter how hard he tried. You’d managed to flood his mind, memories of the kiss you shared playing over and over again.
“Did you close the door?” Bucky asked, not moving an inch.
“Yeah.”
“Good because I do not need anyone else talking to me right now,” Bucky said, his voice low and quiet, an air of danger ever-present in his tone.
“C’mon Buck, y’know you love them,” Steve responds with a dopey little smirk on his face, and he tilts his head to make eye contact with the man he calls his brother.
I hate that fuckin smile.
He softly hums his agreement and returns to inspecting the groove on his desk.
“We just gotta talk it out, figure out what the fuck is going on, then plan our next moves accordingly,” Steve says, swinging his legs back to the floor, hands clasped together, his arms leaning on his knees.
“Yeah thanks man, I didn’t think about figuring everything out, maybe I’ll give that a go now” Bucky retorts with weak sarcasm, mind too busy, replaying the events of the day.
“I can leave you alone to get lost in your head, or we can figure this shit out together. It’s your call jerk.” Steve says, tilting his head down to catch Bucky’s eye.
“Alright.”
“Stop pulling your hair jackass.” He adds.
I hate it when you do that.
Bucky drops his hands to the desk and says, “Ok let’s start this debrief with Walker.”
“Nat’s got his ass tied up in the basement for ya, he’s ready when you are.”
“Anybody looking for him?”
“One frustratingly loyal friend, but he has no idea that Johnny-boy is with us. The rest of his little fan club have no idea he’s even missing.”
“Ok, one problem down. Rumlow?” It’s the question he doesn’t want the answer to. He’d much rather spend his time thinking about you. His history with Brock Rumlow was bloody and painful, for both of them. There was only one person from his past that Bucky hadn’t dealt with, and here he was, coming back to ruin the name Bucky had made for himself.
Rumlow knew things about Bucky’s past that made him a a high security threat, but after he failed to blow himself up in an attempt to kill Bucky, he had disappeared. Bucky thought it was finally over, but the asshole popped back up about a year ago, with more power than before, making himself seemingly untouchable by Bucky’s hand.
“Currently moving like he has been, not causing too much trouble for us, though his crew are getting closer and closer to our dealings at the port.” Steve said, a slight look of digits on his face.
“Put extra hands down there for the next couple weeks, see if we can’t scare them off a little.”
“Yes boss. I’ll let them know after this.”
“The commissioner’s dealt with?” Buck asks, remembering the deviation the man had decided to make.
“Yep, send him that gift basket. He called Sam this morning and agreed to our terms.”
“Good. How’s Barton?” He asks, moving into what they class as ‘personal business’.
“Pissed, man. He wants blood for what happened, we all do.” Steve answers, the memory of seeing Clint covered in blood and bruised made his blood simmer.
“We sure it wasn’t Rumlows’ lot, or fuck even Walker?
“Walkers’ fanclub do not have the brain cells, the power, or the information to organise an attack like that, and Parker tracked Rumlow and his men, all are accounted for and have alibis. This is someone new.”
Oh for fuck’s sake. Isn’t two power hungry assholes enough.
“We haven’t found anything? No security cameras, no cell tower pings?” Bucky asks, leaning back in his chair, resting his head on the back.
“Actually, I sent Scott there this morning to check out if there was anything left there and he found something.” Steve responds, some apprehension creeping into his voice.
That got Bucky’s attention. His head snapped back up and locked eyes with Steve who now stood in-front of his desk, pacing back and forth slightly.
“Care to share with the class Rogers?” His voice was hard now, his extreme dislike of not knowing all the information shining through.
Steve exhales sharply, biting his tongue to not retort and piss Bucky off more.
“He found a package tucked behind a dumpster addressed to ‘Bucky Barnes’ that had a memory stick-“
“Like a USB?” Bucky interrupted.
“- Yeah a USB-“ he gets cut off again.
“Then just say USB, calling it a ‘memory stick’ makes you sound 100 years old.”
“-oh dear god, you gonna let me finish?” Steve responds.
Bucky waved his hand at him, a sign for him to continue.
“Scott found a package addressed to you with a USB inside, we gave it to Stark ‘cos Parker was busy tracking down Rumlows crew, and he checked it out and told us it was completely normal, no virus or anything bad in it.”
“Was there anything on it?” Bucky asks, his brow furrowed.
“It..uh..has two pictures on it.” Steve said lowly.
“…of?”
“It’s probably better if I just show you.” Steve said, his tone of voice made Bucky a little nervous.
Steve took out his phone, tapped a couple of time before turning it around to give to Bucky. As soon as the latter had ahold of the phone, Steve took a full step back, which caused Bucky to raise his eyebrows in question.
“Just look.” He says in response to Bucky’s unasked question.
He looked down at the screen and almost immediately removed his left hand as to not break the phone.
Fuck. Shit.
The first picture was of the night he met you. It was taken through the window for you apartment, and clearly showed both you and Bucky, stood side by side, looking through your flash book.
“What the fuck is this?” He pushes out through gritted teeth.
“I assuming that’s the tattoo artist you told me about, the one you got a thing for?” Steve says.
The one I’m obsessed with.
When Bucky gives him a sharp nod, Steve just drops his head, suddenly fascinated with his shoes.
“Shit.” He says under his breath.
“What?” Bucky’s voice was louder now.
“Look at the next picture.” Steve says while avoiding eye contact.
Bucky looks down, his finger swiping to the next picture before he can think about it.
No. No no fuck. Not her.
The next photo was taken from inside the apartment. Inside your bedroom. It’s of you. Asleep. Completely unaware of the danger stood at the foot of your bed.
Bucky couldn’t look away, he was frozen staring at the picture. Your shorts and oversized tee had both ridden up slightly, showing how truly vulnerable you are. The clock on your table showed the time as 3:54 and showed the date.
“…this was taken this morning.”
“..yeah.”
fuck.
———————
Fuck Bucky Barnes.
The bastard hadn’t contacted you since the shop.
Bitch ass told me to keep my phone on so I wouldn’t miss his message, kept me glued to my phone like a weirdo waiting for him to call… and he didn’t. Dick.
Despite the annoyance at the very very attractive mobster, you couldn’t help wonder how he was, what he was doing, if he was thinking about you too.
You’re overthinking about Bucky was interrupted by a knock at your door.
“One sec!” You shout to whoever’s there, getting up and walking to the door. The second you undo the lock, the door is being pushed into your face with a chorus of greetings.
“Come in I guess,” you say to the three who just walked in.
“Well thanks darlin, you got food?” Billy responds, already making his way to the fridge.
“Don’t fucking eat my pizza Bill, I swear I’ll kill you,” you answer, giving both Frank and Curtis a hug, letting the door close behind them.
He laughs off your threat as the others take a seat on your couch.
“Not that I don’t love you guys, but why the fuck are you here?” You ask, moving back to the arm chair in the corner and taking a seat, your phone pinging in the back ground.
“What, we can’t pop in on you whenever we want?” Frank says, leaning back in the arm of the couch, moving to put his feet in the coffee table.
“Frankie if you put your feet on my table, I’m gonna beat you with a spoon.” You call at him.
He freezes and slowly lowers his feet back to the floor.
“We just wanted to come see how you were…Frank told us about Barnes.” Curtis says, cutting into the conversation and completely dampening the mood.
God-fucking-dammit Frank.
Oh fuck do I tell them that he’s not an issue and I actually quite like him.
“Yeah are you ok sweetheart?” Billy asks and he collapses on the couch in the middle of the other boys.
“I’m fine guys, I swear, like I told Frank he’s actually not bad,” you answer, shifting uncomfortable lay in your seat due to the indecision of how much to tell them, “He was nice, polite and kind of…charming, I guess-”
“Is that why you kissed him?” Frank interrupts.
Shit, how does he know?
“-what?”
“You kissed him. Or rather he kissed you but you seemed to enjoy it.” Billy says with an annoying smirk on his face.
“How do you know that?” You ask, shock still written all over your face.
“..the security cameras, kid. You forget about those?”
Ahh fuck.
“Ahh fuck,” you say out loud.
“What the hell are you doing making out with a mobster, Y/N?” Curtis responds, looking at you with those eyes of his that show he’s not judging, just trying to understand.
“I..uh..I wasn’t-really-thinking.” You put you hands on your head, even though Curtis wasn’t judging you, the other two definitely were.
“Obviously you weren’t, he’s a goddam mobster Y/N-” Billy starts, anger in his voice, but you cut him off.
“I know that Bill, ok, I do,” you say, shifting to place your feet on the floor, “but he’s not the animal you think he is, he’s kind and considerate and he makes me feel…” happy. you cut off before the last word, wanting to keep that realisation to yourself for a little longer.
“Plus you bastards can’t be judging me for meeting the guy twice, only yourselves and the devil knows what fucked shit you three have been up to.” You almost shout.
“The fuck does that mean?” Frank answers.
“C’mon Frank I’m not stupid, you three have some shady shit in your pasts. I mean you were goddam military for fucks sake, and don’t think I don’t see the fake payments on the books at the shop-“
“Stop Y/N.” Billy cuts you off. “Stop it now.” He leans forward and rests his elbows on his knees, eyes never leaving yours.
You were about to respond to his demand, when a knock sounded at the door.
“Told you to keep you phone on.” A dark voice calls through the door.
Oh shit. No no no not now please not now.
“Who the fuck is that?” Frank asks, suddenly sitting up straight, eyes pinned on the door. Both Billy and Curtis stand, facing the door as if waiting for it to bust off it’s hinges.
“Please all of you, shut the fuck up and don’t do anything dumb,” you answer, moving towards the door.
“Is that him?” Curtis asks.
“Didn’t I just say shut the fuck up,” you retort a little snappier, opening the door slightly.
He cut his hair, it’s looks good on him.
Bucky lowers his arm from his thwarted attempt at a second knock and says, “Is your phone broken or are you ignoring me?” The smirk on his face made your heart beat a little faster.
“Neither, I just missed your text because I have some friends over right now,” you say.
“Is that why you’re not opening the door properly? I can barley see you,” he says with a grin.
“…kinda? Ok wait..” you exit your apartment, pulling the door closed fully behind you, “long story short, they know about the k.. uh about what happened at the shop, and they know who you are and they are not happy about it.”
His eyes darken and his smirk grows wider at the almost mention of the kiss. He shifts until he’s leaning his shoulder on the wall by your door.
“Oh yeah? Doesn’t really matter what they think though, does it doll? Both you and I know how much you enjoyed it.” He says, mouth forming a cheeky grin.
Oh my god.
“Me? You’re the one who started it Bucky, seemed you enjoyed it more,” you respond, having no idea where the confidence came from.
He hums at your statement and says “Well I can admit that I did enjoy our kiss sweetheart, but I may need a little reminder of how it went, it’s been a long day you see.”
“Bucky-” you’re cut of by him stepping closer until your chests are barley touching, the new position making you tilt your head back to see him better.
“What darlin? You ok with this?” He asks slowly, tilting his head to the side slightly, looking into your eyes for any sign of discomfort.
Why does he have to be so sweet.
You nod in answer to his question and he smiles. Not the terrifying grin or the cheeky smirk, but a genuine smile - one that makes him even more beautiful. Bucky raises his right arm, dragging his thumb over your lips and cupping your cheek while you stare up at him, his other hand sneaks around your back, pulling you flush to him.
“You have no idea what to do to me, do ya?” He mumbles, probably not intending for you to respond as he’s closing the gap between you. The kiss is harsh and a little messy, shocking you slightly with his apparent desperation, hands holding you tightly. He takes advantage of your shock, tracing your lips with his tongue and pushing past to deepen the kiss.
His hand drops from you face to your waist, gripping so tightly, you’re sure he’ll have left a bruise. That thought got you’re heart pumping faster, the idea that an imprint of his hands, his fingers would be left on your skin. It felt right. Bucky pushes you until your back hits the wall, hips fitting against yours almost perfectly, one leg sneaking between yours as you let a light whimper escape.
You break the kiss to get some air, leaning your forehead against his, both of you catching your breath.
“Bucky, I mis-”, you didn’t get to finish the sentence before your door opens and you’re suddenly faced with three pissed off ex-marines.
-(Bucky’s P.O.V)
Bucky immediately steps back, releasing you, and straightens his posture. He looks at the men, quietly analysing them. He can tell that they either are or were military, and definitely care immensely about you, probably to the point of beating the crap out of anyone that hurt you.
The one in the middle is a frightening creature , he thinks, but the wedding band means he has something to loose, he should be less quick to anger, in theory.
The one on the right with the short buzz cut and the tense muscles reminds him of Clint, he’s ready to fight at the drop of a hat, and by the look on his face, I’m gonna be his next target.
The man on the left intrigued Bucky the most. His face is blank, showing nothing. He’s favouring one of his legs, and the other shows a bulky piece of metal at the bottom. Wonder if that’s an old military injury.
“Guys, what are you doing?” You ask, apprehension in your voice. Bucky wonders if you’re scared for them or for him.
“Oh we are gonna head out, let you have some time to really think about what we talked about.” The man in the middle says, putting emphasis on the word really.
“Frank please-”
“No it’s ok sweetheart,” Bucky bristles at the pet name the Clint wannabe says, “we’ll see you later.”
“Billy-”
“Shit, I left my phone on your table, could you get it for me?” The other says to you, cutting off your words, smiling at you to calm the stressed look on your face.
“Of course Cutis, one sec,” you respond, Turing to Bucky at the end of your sentence with a look at says please don’t make this worse.
You pass by the men and let the door fall closed behind you.
The silence is tense as the men all stare at each-other.
“So…how’s your man doing? Y’know the one that got jumped,” Billy says, smirking at Bucky.
“How do you know that?” Bucky asks as his muscles tense.
“…Y/N told us, obviously,” Billy says.
The pause was intentional, she didn’t tell them that.
“He’s fine, thanks.” Bucky responds shortly, all to aware of the lie he was just told.
The door opens just before Billy can respond, all four men going silent again.
“Here it is Curtis, guess I’ll see you guys later then,” you say, before hugging each man.
The three shoulder past Bucky as if he was just a man on the street, no care in the world that he could have them killed for that disrespect. But he lets this one slide, for her, as they’re her friends.
“Did you tell them about Clint?” He knows it was a lie but he needs to make sure his cynical brain isn’t marking it up.
“No? Why?” You answer, unaware of the turmoil occurring in Bucky’s head.
Then how the fuck do they know.
“Give me one minute doll, I forgot something at the car,” he says, “go on inside I’ll be back soon.”
“Uh.. okay.” You answer, walking back into the apartment.
He watches the door and as soon as it closes he is moving back down the stairs, hoping to catch and ask the men how they knew about Clint. Bucky normally has an reasonable explanation for everything, but this time he was stumped. He catches them outside the front door to the building, the three of them stood leaning against their car, watching the door, waiting for him to come out.
“How do you know?” He repeats his question from before, voice lower and more dangerous now.
“Y’know…that bastard has a solid right hook.” Billy says. The sentence sends red hot anger through Bucky’s blood.
It was them. But that means…
“Did you get our package?” The big one in the middle asks, Frank, she called him.
Fuck. The anger that has been burning in his veins since the second he saw those photos of you pours out of him and he immediately pulls a gun on Frank.
“Hey now that’s not smart, is it?” Curtis asks in a placating tone.
“Don’t forget about our girl up there. What’s she gonna think if you shoot me for no reason?” Frank says, unflinching staring down the barrel of Bucky’s gun.
Fuck. Fuck. These bastard are the ones threatening everything, they jumped Clint and are using you to get to him. They’re your friends and you? You have absolutely no idea.

Lemonade - Part 5
Tumblr media
leah williamson x alessia russo x child!reader
Summary: When something bad happens to your Mummy and Daddy, you end up living with your Aunty Lessi and Aunty Leah.  But is there room for you considering they have a new baby on the way?
Chapter Summary: the aftermath of your concussion
Warnings: pregnancy, self-harm, disordered eating, bullying
a/n: sorry if this chapter is a little bit dark in parts. if you're still reading the series, thanks so much for sticking with me. I appreciate it more than you know.
|| Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3 || Part 4 ||
PART 5
You woke up on a plastic bed in a room that smelled like the awful cream your Mummy would rub on her legs after Netball, surrounded by a million different kinds and colours of sellotape.
You could hear voices, and you looked over to the corner of the room to find your Aunty Leah consoling your Aunty Lessi as she cried.  She looked distraught, her eyes red and puffy with tears.
“I should have known it would overwhelm her.  I was just so excited to share this with her…”
“Babe, she’s going to be okay.  We’re still learning all this, yeah?”
“But we’re meant to protect her, and… and I- I…” Aunty Lessi choked on her words before Aunty Leah cut her off.
“And I should have had a tighter grip on her when I saw she was panicking.  Like I said, we’re both still learning how to do this.  The medics said she’s got a bit of a concussion, but she’ll be alright.  We know how concussions work, so we’ve just got to keep our eyes on her and make sure she gets lots and lots of rest.”
There was a quiet knock at the door, before an important looking lady with a clipboard came in.
“Less, sorry but we need to know if you’re going to play the second half or not?” she asked.
As your Aunties turned toward the door, they realised that you were awake.
“Oh Bunny, sweetie, you’re awake.  How are you feeling?” your Aunty Lessi rushed over to you, her hands coming down to gently cradle the sides of your head.
You looked up at her a bit stunned, rather confused about why you were where you were and why everyone seemed so upset.
“Does your head hurt?  Do you feel sick or dizzy at all?” she asked, her hand softly brushing through your hair.
You tried to think about if you felt sick or dizzy, but all you could really feel was a powerful throbbing rattling through your head.  You also felt really, really tired.  But you had just woken up, so that could perhaps explain that.  You don’t remember going to sleep though, which was starting to concern you.
“I feel okay,” you replied, trying to brush away your Aunty’s concern.
“Alessia, sorry, we need t-” the lady at the door began to ask again.
“I won’t be playing, sorry.  My family is more important right now,” Aunty Lessi told her.
“Less, you should go play.  I’ll stay with Bunny and make sure she’s-”
Your Aunty Lessi whipped around to face Aunty Leah. “No, Leah.  I’m not leaving her.  She’s hurt.   We’ll get a car to take us back to the training centre so we can go home early,” she insisted firmly.
Aunty Leah replied with a sad smile and a nod.  “I’ll go get our stuff packed up then, yeah?”
“I’m okay Aunty Lessi, you should play!” you tried to insist.
“No Bunny, there would be no point in me playing anyways.  I would be so distracted out there and worrying about you I would probably kick the ball into the wrong goal by mistake.”
By the time you finally got back home that night, your head was still pounding and you were struggling to stay awake.  You were trying your hardest to be big and brave and pretend like you were okay, but as soon as you stepped into bath, your whole façade fell apart.  As the warm water lapped at your tense muscles, which you now realised you’d been clenching in an effort to distract from the pain in your head, your resolve melted and you began to weep.
You brought your knees up to your chest and dropped your head forward, your hands entwining at the back of your head as your little body shook with each sob.  The tears and jagged breaths only intensified the pain in your head though, which in turn caused more tears and jagged breaths.  You tried your hardest to stay as quiet as possible, but you were aware that your cries were becoming increasingly vocal.
There was soon a soft knock at the door, followed by your Aunty Lessi’s voice.  Whilst making sure you still got clean and dressed, your Aunties had always tried to give you your privacy while bathing and dressing, which you appreciated.  They were your Aunties, but it still felt weird being undressed around people who weren’t your parents.
“Bunny?  Are you okay?” she called through the closed door.
“It hurts” you cried in response.
“What hurts honey?”
“Everything.  My head hurts most.”
“How about we give you some medicine to make it hurt less, yeah?”
“Okay.”
“And then we can get you to bed, and you can try and get some rest, alright?”
“Okay.”
There was a short pause.  You’d assumed your Aunty had gone away to get the medicine, but then you heard her voice again.
“Bun, you don’t always have to try and be big and brave y’know?  If you’re hurting, you can tell us.  Always.  I promise you won’t be in trouble or we won’t make fun of you or anything.  We just want you to feel okay.”
“Okay.”
You didn’t fully believe her.  You wanted to, but a part of you still believed that there was only so much love and affection to go around and you needed to space that out at least until Lemonade arrived.  You didn’t want to use it all up on this incident.
So you tried your hardest to push the pain down and away as you quickly washed yourself.  You managed to get yourself up and out of the bath and wrapped in a towel before there was a knock at the door again.
“You can come in,” you mumbled, making sure the towel was secured tightly under your arms.
Your Aunty Lessi entered with a little cup filled with pink medicine and a cup of water.  She kneeled down to your height as she offered it to you.
“Now it says strawberry flavoured on the bottle, so hopefully it won’t taste too bad.”
You gingerly took the cup and gulped the medicine down, wincing at the distinctly fake strawberry taste.  You quickly grabbed the cup of water from your Aunty’s other hand and skulled that down to wash away the lingering flavour.
“Good job, Bun.  Now let’s get you into your PJ’s and into bed, yeah?”
By the time you were under the covers, arms tightly wrapped around your beloved Arthur, the pain in your head had dulled to only a mild ache.
“Goodnight sweet girl” your Aunty Lessi whispered, kissing the top of your head.
“Night Aunty Lessi” you mumbled back.
It was the first time you slept through the night without waking up to a nightmare since the fire.
--
You woke up to the smell of Aunty Lessi’s lasagne wafting through the house.  However, as you opened your eyes and came to your senses, you immediately panicked.
You were not in your own bed.
You were in your Aunties bed.
You had no idea how you’d come to be in their bed.  The last thing you remembered you were lying on the floor in the loungeroom studying one of the books the Arsenal girls had given you about football.  You were trying to understand where all the different positions were on the pitch and what responsibilities each position had.  You had been figuring out the difference between a centre-back and a full-back when you had… fallen asleep.
Bad. Bad. Bad.
Whilst it had been a few days now since your accident and you’d had a couple of days off school and your head no longer hurt, you were still feeling extra extra tired from your concussion.  You’d spent most of that day at school trying to hide your yawns from your teacher and classmates.  When you’d been given some free time after finishing one of your activities ahead of the rest of the class, the same group of students that always seemed to catch you at your weakest had caught you dozing off in the corner of the room where you’d been reading.  They’d tied your shoelaces together and were starting to draw on your arm when you woke up.  You hadn’t realised they’d also put rolled up pieces of paper in your hair braid until your Aunty Leah pointed them out when she picked you up.
You’d tried to brush it off and said it was just a game all the kids were playing with each other, but the concerned frown your Aunty gave you implied she didn’t quite believe your lie.
“You know you can tell us if there’s anything going wrong at school, yeah?  If anyone’s picking on you or calling you names or anything?”
You just nodded.  There was no way you would ever tell your Aunties what was really happening at school.  You would just deal with it like a big girl.  Push through.  Be brave.  They had bigger things to worry about than some kids putting paper in your hair and saying mean things.  Your Aunty Leah was growing a human AND mending her busted knee for heaven’s sake!  You could deal with some silly paper in your hair.
When you’d got back to the house, you went straight to your room to undo your braid and pluck all the little pieces of paper from your hair.  You’d counted them (23 in total) before scrunching them up and throwing them in the little wastepaper basket beside your desk.
As the paper hit the basket, a tiny ball of raging heat began bubbling in your chest.  You didn’t know what to do with it or how to describe it, but it made you want to stomp your feet and hit a wall and scratch at your skin.  You’d never been the best at describing emotions, but you were pretty certain this wasn’t sadness.  Perhaps, this was anger? Frustration? Disappointment?
The tiny ball continued to bubble and grow as you lunged for your bed where Arthur lay.  You attempted desperately to use your tried and tested method of rubbing his ear against your cheek to calm the feeling, and whilst it felt nice, it did nothing to soothe your need to stomp or hit or scratch.
You searched your room urgently for something else to ease the searing heat in your chest, even gulping down the remnants of a cup of water on your bedside table.  But nothing worked.  You needed to stomp or hit or scratch.  You knew couldn’t stomp your feet or hit a wall, because that would be loud, and your Aunty would hear and come ask what was wrong.  So, you decided to scratch.
You had to pick somewhere not too visible so that if you left a mark, nobody would see and ask what happened.  So, you tugged up the hem of your school dress and pushed down your tights and began scratching at the skin at the top of your right thigh.
The relief was instant.
The second your nails dug into your flesh, the little ball of heat in your chest began to cool.  You scratched and scratched, and scratched some more until it finally, finally disappeared.  By the time you eventually stopped, your skin was stinging, and your fingers were cramping.  But the little ball of heat was gone, and that was all that mattered.
There was a gentle knock on the door as you speedily pulled your tights back up, wincing as they brushed against your newly tender skin.
Your Aunty Leah popped her head in through the door, “Bun, do you want a snack? I got some blueberry muffins from the bakery…”
“Oh… um, yeah, I’ll be right down, just getting that paper out of my hair,” you mumbled, quickly running your fingers through the ends of your messy blonde mane.
“Alright, I’ll pop them in the microwave to warm them up,” she replied before heading back downstairs to do so.
As you heard her footsteps fade away, you turned around and pulled your tights down again, trying with all your might not to release a pained noise as the fabric ripped away from your newly raw skin.  The area you’d scratched was an angry red colour and the skin seemed wet, but there was no blood, which whilst a relief, made no sense to you.
Not wanting to keep your Aunty waiting, you hastily pulled your tights the rest of the way off and threw them in your laundry hamper.  The house was warm enough, but you decided to grab your soft little blanket that had purple and grey clouds, as well as the book on football you had been reading and the little notebook you’d been making notes in (and Arthur of course), and head downstairs.
“Perfect timing Bun, just took them out of the microwave.  Do you want a drink?”
“I’m okay.  Thank you, Aunty Leah, this looks lovely” you replied, climbing up onto a stool in front of the kitchen bench where a little plate with a yummy looking blueberry muffin sat.
“Well, we all know the kitchen is Aunty Lessi’s domain.  That woman can cook like a dream!  But I’m not too shabby at picking out a good pastry.  I guess you could say bread and bread-adjacent foods are my domain,” she teased.
You giggled as you tucked into your muffin, appreciating your Aunty Leah’s silly jokes about how bad at cooking she was and how limited the range of foods she ate was.  Your extended family often seemed to tease her a bit about being a picky eater and she would usually laugh it off or join in on the joke.  But you knew it was something she was actually a bit self-conscious about.
A few days into your stay here you’d gone to the fridge to grab some milk for your cereal and had accidentally knocked a container off a shelf.  As you bent down to pick it up, you noticed a little letter stuck to the lid that read “Leah, my love, it’s okay if you can’t eat this.  I know you tried and I’m proud of you.  Please just make sure you eat something or at least have a protein smoothie.  For you and for ‘L’.  Love you – xx Less.”  You’d immediately felt guilty for reading it as you rushed to put it back on the shelf, knowing you’d intruded on a bit of your Auntie’s privacy.  You’d seen a few similar little notes stuck to containers since then.  At the time you’d been very confused about what “for you and for ‘L’” meant, but you had since figured out it meant ‘for you and for Lemonade’.
When you finished your muffin, you wriggled off the stool and headed over to place your plate in the dishwasher.
“Are you done with your plate too, Aunty Leah?” you offered.
“Oh, thanks sweetie, you didn’t have to do that,” she replied as she passed you her plate with a smile.  “Feel free to watch something on the telly if you want.  I’ve got a bit of boring adult housework stuff to catch up on before Aunty Lessi gets home.”
“Is there anything you need help with?” you asked.
“No, no.  I’ve just got to do a couple of loads of laundry and there’s no way I would make you deal with Aunty Lessi’s gross smelly training socks!  It’s bad enough poor little Lemonade is stuck with me and can’t escape from it,” she laughed, jokingly shielding her belly from the smell.
“Is it okay if I just read in the loungeroom?” you asked.
“Of course it is!  Just remember if your head starts to hurt or you’re feeling too tired or anything, to have a rest, yeah?” she smiled at you, stroking her fingers affectionately through your hair.
“I will, thank you.”
So, you made yourself comfortable in a little spot on the loungeroom floor, surrounded by a couple of cushions, the blanket you’d brought down from your room and, of course, Arthur.  Soon you were laying on your belly, nose deep in the book and jotting down notes in your notebook all about what a penalty shootout was and what circumstances led to one.  You drew a little picture of the goal and the line markings and where the goalie had to stand and where the other players had to stand, before turning back to the book to read about in-game penalties when slowly but suddenly you… were… asleep.
The next thing you knew you were waking up in your Auntie’s bed to the smell of your Aunty Lessi’s lasagna.
The realisation hit you like a hundred bolts of lightning.
You’d slept in someone else bed.
Bad. Bad. Bad.
Bad things happen when you sleep in someone else’s bed.
The last time you’d slept in someone else’s bed, your house burned down, and your Mummy and Daddy had died.
You jumped out of the bed as though it was burning you, panic rattling all through your little body.
“Bad. Bad. Bad.”
Your right hand began hitting at the side of your head before you even knew it was happening.
“Bad. Bad. Bad.”
Your other hand clawed at the skin of your neck, scratching determinedly at the tender skin there.
“Bad! Bad! Bad!”
You tried so hard to stop them, but your feet began to stomp loudly, your whole body seemingly moving with a mind of its own.  Everything around you seemed like it was spinning.  You thought you could smell smoke and when your eyes began to water you weren’t sure if it was because you were crying or if it was because there was actually smoke.
You vaguely heard a commotion and saw the door swing open, but everything around you continued to spin making you feel like throwing up.  You couldn’t throw up in your Auntie’s bedroom!
“Bad! Bad! Bad!”
“Bunny?  Sweetie, what’s going on?”
You could hear your Aunty Lessi’s voice and feel her presence, but the only word you could think was ‘BAD’.
“Bad! Bad! Bad!”
The word kept falling from your lips and you continued to stomp and hit and scratch.
“Okay, Bun.  I’m going pick you up so you stop hurting yourself sweetie.  I need to make you nice and safe, alright?”
Again, you heard your Aunty but all you could think was ‘BAD’.
“Bad! Bad! Bad!”
Carefully you felt your Aunty wrap her arms around you, trapping your arms and lifting you off the ground.  You struggled as your body fought to keep hitting and scratching and stomping, but she gently tugged your hands away from your neck and head, tucking them tightly against her chest.
“You’re okay, lovely.  You’re safe, I promise.  It’s just you, me and Aunty Leah here okay.  Nothing bad is going to happen alright?  We’re safe.  You’re safe.  Everything’s okay…”
“Bad. Bad. Bad.”
“What do you mean by bad, Bun?” Aunty Lessi asked.
You shook your head, unable to explain yourself.  All you could say was “bad.”
“Oh sweetie, you haven’t done anything bad.  You’re not in any kind of trouble.  I promise.  And nothing bad is going to happen either, okay?” she whispered.
You began to slowly unclench in her arms, comforted by the soothing way she was swaying gently.  Eventually you opened your eyes to see your Aunty Leah standing in the doorway watching on, her face red and blotchy as though she’d been crying.
You immediately came back into your body, realising whatever you’d just done had upset your Aunty Leah.  You tried to wriggle slightly to free yourself from your Aunty Lessi’s grip, but she tightened her hold.
“Not yet sweetie.  I need to what’s going on?  What happened?” she asked, sitting down on the edge of the bed with you in her lap.
“I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry.  I didn’t mean to be bad and upset Aunty Leah.  I’m so sorry.  I promise I’ll be good.  I promise.”
“Darling, you didn’t upset me” your Aunty Leah assured you as she came over to sit next to Aunty Lessi on the bed.
“But your face is blotchy like you’ve been crying” you replied, your Aunty Lessi finally loosening her grip on her as your reached toward Aunty Leah.
“Well, it’s because I have been, but it’s not because you upset me.  I’m just worried about you is all.  Why were you hurting yourself?” she asked, taking your hand in hers.
“I just had to.  I don’t know.  I just did.  I was bad.”  You jumped off Aunty Lessi’s lap and started pacing on the floor in front of her and Aunty Leah.   “I woke up in this bed and I had no idea why I was in your bed and all I could think was ‘bad’ and I just did it without realising.”
“I washed your sheets and they’re in the dryer.  So, when you fell asleep on the loungeroom floor, I just put you in here for your nap.  I didn’t mean for it to upset you so much, sweetie,” Aunty Leah explained, tears still rolling down her cheeks.
“You didn’t upset me, I just I don’t want you and Aunty Lessi and Lemonade to die too!”
You heard your Aunties gasp at your explanation, but you just kept pacing, trying to figure out a way to stop the inevitable from happening.
“Bunny, oh my goodness, why would Aunty Leah and Lemonade and I die because you had a nap in our bed?”
“Because that’s what happened when I slept in Mummy and Daddy’s bed!”
You watched as your Aunties exchanged a series of looks.  The seemed confused and shocked, which was confusing and shocking to you, because it all seemed so obvious.
“Darling, your Mummy and Daddy didn’t die because you slept in their bed,” Aunty Leah tried to tell you.
“Yes, they did!  They did.  They DID!  I know they did!  It’s the only thing different I did that night from all the other nights.  I had done so so good all summer getting into my big girl routine and kept it up really well for the first couple of weeks of school.  But then… then I slipped up, and I was bad and I asked to sleep in bed with Mummy and Daddy that night.  And and th- the fire happened.  And if I had of been in my own room, I could have got myself out.  Because we’d practiced.  Daddy made sure we practiced.  And and and then… then Da-Daddy wouldn’t have needed to get me out and he could have helped Mummy because of her leg.  And they could have got out too.  But I was bad.  I slept in a bed that wasn’t mine.  When I should have just slept in my own bed, like a good girl.  Like a big girl.  And now they’re dead.  They’re both dead.  And it’s my fault.  And now what if you die too!?”
