MAD SCIENTIST AU but it's small because I was shot to death three times in a row <//3 (I'm tired my bad) The first meeting after Wen Qionglin and Wei Wuxian have returned is a rather odd one, largely on account of the baby being rocked in Wei Wuxian's arms. Said baby is not making a fuss or anything, just chewing on a choppy lock of the man's hair as he looks around with big inquisitive eyes that are mainly focused on the pretty colours of everyone's robes, but it's just strange to have a baby in a war meeting. They're literally discussing how to slaughter people and a baby is just watching it all, even if he can't comprehend it. However, Wei Wuxian said that he wouldn't go anywhere without him, and they need to talk about the army that scouts spotted heading their way. So, A-Yuan is joining the meeting...I guess.

Madam Yu has so much to say about this. They don't even know how she got into the meeting, Jiang Fengmian was literally just tasked with keeping her away, but she's here and they just have to deal with it. She keeps making snide remarks about how they really are just letting anyone into these meetings now, but Wei Wuxian seems to be too preoccupied pulling faces at A-Yuan to notice, and Lan Wangji is too busy watching him pull faces to care about her. Nie Mingjue is outlining the possible new threats the Wen and Jin are going to bring - "now that we have Wei Wuxian, they may actually start bringing Wen Zhuliu onto the field-" "what?" Wei Wuxian finally looks up from A-Yuan, brows furrowed in confusion.

Nie Mingjue isn't surprised that Wei Wuxian's been listening, but he is surprised that he decided to speak when A-Yuan is grabbing his hands up to play with the red ribbon dangling in front of his eyes. "Wen Zhuliu has not appeared on the battlefield yet, we guessed that-" Wei Wuxian snorts slightly, waving his hand around (A-Yuan grabs one of his fingers and he doesn't even look down as he starts wiggling his fingers at him). "He's not appeared because he's dead." Everyone goes quiet for a moment, before Madam Yu finds it the perfect time to open her mouth and sneer out "and how would you know that? Finally revealing yourself to be a spy?!" Wei Wuxian raises a brow right back at her. "Because I was the one who killed him."

There's an uproar at this - there's no way that this child, because he is still a child, has taken down one of the main threats of the Wen army. When did he even get a chance to do such a thing?! Lan Wangji (who has been fawning over Wei Ying and A-Yuan this whole time) scowls at the shock in everyone's tones, looking up as though he's ready to fight all of them at once. Even Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen, who respect Wei Wuxian and trusts in his abilities, are a little disbelieving of the fact that a teenager could somehow killed the Core-Melting Hand. Wei Wuxian isn't bothered by this, having long grown bored of the conversation to cuddle into A-Yuan.

"I ripped out his throat...and most of his internal organs...in the midst of a qi deviation mixed with resentful energy. Nothing to worry about anymore."

This is kinda a proof of concept I made for myself of my vampire romcom Idea Vamp! (working title). It's been my silly-escape side project lately, very much inspired by early 2000s anime romcoms. The story would follow Jamie, a down on her luck college dropout who's been unknowingly cursed, and Alana, a bubbly vampire who's just moved to the big city. The two get stuck together due to circumstances and Jamie is made aware of the magical underworld around her thanks to Alana. Lots of cryptid hyjinks as the two grow together and fall for each other.

The parallels between the courtroom and a church 😭 A church choir playing in the background. And a man seeking guidance from a god. But they're not pews, they're courtroom benches. It's not stained glass windows but windows with metal bars on them. There's no crucifix to pray for forgiveness to. Just an empty seat which is filled when justice is to be decided. "In God We Trust". An implicit sentence that permeates the very essence of one place. Yet, in the halls of justice, it needs to be explicitly written on the wall.

“Therapy is for broken people, and our Adrien is PERFECT!” Aside from the inherent nastiness and problems of BOTH of the independent clauses in that sentence, considering how much Emilie is concerned with her public image as well as her image among the people in her Inner Circle, I wonder how it’ll affect her as she continues to drop little nuggets like that when she starts being seen as (and ESPECIALLY treated as) if not a Boy Mom or an Ableist Mom, at the very least an Innocently Insensitive Mom minus the coddling attitude someone like her would hope “naturally” comes with that title.

I mean, if OG, Canon Emilie went so far as to give herself Magic Wasting Disease by using a broken Miraculous to invent the Perfect™️ Obedient Prodigy Child that Literally Cannot Disobey and Has No "Flaws" instead of, you know...adoption...

sudden lore drop for again &. again, i don't care because everything's falling into pieces, but i think it's funny how most crime lords, or even the rogues in gotham — especially those associated with bruce wayne or batman — might actually be the reader's godparents due to how infamous their mother is amongst the underground.

i'm saying she's not exactly revered by the masses, especially those whose plans she's foiled in the past, but she was damn good at her old business, at what she's done, for survival was primal instinct from way before she had you, way before she had retired when she discovered her pregnancy— and her feats in the cruel play of gotham's crime alone were what earned her the right to be respected by most.

so point being? if alfred was at least five minutes late on picking you up from that damn police station, then your life would've taken a vastly different turn and you could've been your mother 2.0. or even cause some criminal war just because you're being fought for to be trained to be a sidekick or a mentor for batman's villains; and i think about that all the time.

i think about what it would be like if you were chosen (kidnapped before the police could even gain sight of her) by selina to be the successor for her mantle, or how you're more connected to the falcones than you could ever imagine, or how the court of owls have always been closely watching in the first place, or how even someone like ra's al ghul has been keeping a keen eye on you the moment he's learned of your mother's pregnancy.

even the joker knows a thing or two about your past, and he's contemplated sending harley to take you away from school from when you were just a kid far more times than he could even imagine.

and they're not exactly good people, far from it, way beyond the scale of bad, but they've all made a sworn truce when it came to you right before you came to be; whether that'd be for your sake, or your downfall.

now that, we don't know.

Frenglish differences in miraculous

which is a series where I'll be highlighting the differences between the French and English dubs of the wonderful show that is Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

I've always watched the show in its original language and I really recommend doing so but I recognise that it isn't necessarily doable depending on the subtitles people have available to them and the fact that they might be based on the alternate dub rather than a translation of what is said in French, so I thought I'd do this as a way to both show the differences and the things that people might miss, as well as sharing some interesting facts I've noticed! I'll be making one post per episode, with for each notable difference what is said in English, what is said in French with my translation and sometimes a little comment from yours truly 😌.

I'll have to make a few disclaimers as I always do with these things so here are the main ones:

I have done this (rewatching and recording the differences) a looong time ago so I might have changed my opinion on a few things since then, although I'll try to go over and correct if really needed

I didn't actually watch it in English (sorry I really don't like watching dubs) but I instead used the subtitles available on Disney+ which seemed to be an accurate transcription of the dub. however if I've made any mistake feel free to point it out! it also means that I only focus on the text and not the delivery of the lines

I kept the translation of the original french voice acting quite literal and I am in no way competent in linguistics (women in STEM 🫡)

I've only done this for season 1, as I believe fandubs are available for the further seasons but if people are interested I might do the other ones, however I don't have access to legal streaming services with subtitles anymore so it might be a bit more complex for me

I'm not pointing out every single difference because some are uninteresting or just due to simple language differences, but only the ones I personally found interesting/relevant

I didn't include things that happen in every episode (aka the theme song or transformation phrases), but I might do a separate post for them if anyone's interested
