It was a nice spring evening and the fire kept everyone comfortably warm. The alcohol did, too. The men drank their beers, the women sipped their wines and Daryl chugged his moonshine.

That got him some looks, but he couldn't help it. He'd down an entire jar and only feel a bit of a buzz for five minutes before it was out of his system again.

One less nice thing about being a werewolf, they couldn't get drunk. But you personally didn't mind your lover being unable to since you weren't a drinker either and you'd at least have someone to talk to later.

You were roasting a potato over the edge of the fire when one of the ladies came over with a cup of red wine, offering it to you. With this being a party you accepted the cup witg a friendly smile, deciding to just nurse it all evening so they wouldn't ask again.

You raised the cup to your lips when Daryl spoke up. "Ya shouldn't be drinkin' tha'." He put his hand on your arm to stop it from raising further. He was clear headed right now.

You gave him a judgemental look, offended by the fact that he wouldn't even let you drink one cup at a special occasion. "Daryl, I'm not downing one after another. I'll keep this one til I got to bed." You spoke in annoyance.

"I said yer not drinkin'." His voice raised and his grip on your arm tightened. He never treated you like this. Did the alcohol affect him after all? "Why are you making such a big deal of one cup of wine, Daryl?" You tried to pry your arm out of his grasp but you were no match for his strength.

"I ain't lettin' ya drink cuz it's bad fer the baby!" He snapped, growling it out loud enough for a blanket of silence to fall over the group.

"There. Happy now? Wanted ta tell ya in private later." You stared at him, eyes wide ans brimmed with tears and just. Sat there, before you jumped him, dropping the cup and taking Daryl to the ground with you.

Your face buried in the crook of his neck as your arms snuck around him. Fuck his dislike of public displays of affection. You kissed him deeply, pouring all your love into it when his arms came to rest around you too.

As you two laid there in the grass, whistles and cheers filled the air, congratulations going around at the announcement.

That was one way to find out.

Okay but- Acesan estabilished relatonship in Single Dad!Mihawk AU?

Like, the Strawhats meet the Cross Guild, and no one besides Sanji and Zoro (bc he stayed in Kuraigana for 2 years) knows Mihawk is Sanji's dad. Sabo and Ace are going to see Luffy and the crew like they hace been planning (Ace also wants to see his boyfriend), and finds the Strawhats witg the Cross Guild (they're... confused, to say the least).

Crocodile and Buggy intent to ignore them and decide to go their way, but Mihawk stays (almost everyone is kinda nervous about this), he's silent for some minutes until he says: "Good to see you Roronoa, and how are you, Sanji?". And as if everyone isn't already surprised by him knowing 'Hawkeye', Sanji replies with one: "I'm alright, dad".

And boom, there's chaos. The Strawhats are asking a thousand questions to Sanji and Ace is processing the fact that his boyfriend is DRACULE MIHAWK'S SON.

When everyone thinks everything calmed down, Luffy asks "Ace, don't you knew Sanji was Mihawk's son? You're his boyfriend"

Well, this isn't a information Dracule was expecting. (I just want to see, like, a 'family dinner' with Mihawk, Sanji and the ASL - Ace kinda nervous, of course)

I've been looking at this for a while trying to think of how to respond because Golden is vastly different. I'm definitely down for a Single Dad!Mihawk pt 2 Ace Lives AU. I haven't posted much about it or the concept of it at all so.

Sanji and Ace, who have been dating since Alabasta at least. Like at some point after the time skip and post Wano ASL all plan to meet on Karai Bari probably cuz Mihawk wants to test Zoro or something. Mihawk also just wants to actually see his son so ya know? Also he absolutely has not seen Sanji since he almost bisected Zoro.

So yeah Ace and Sabo show up as they're making landfall to Karai Bari and after a brief talk with the chairman and the lieutenants Buggy and Croc leave and Mihawk is just inspecting them all. He's probably trying to gauge their power when Zoro's like "where's 'Rona?"

And Mihawk explains she went back to Moria rather nonchalantly and then Zoro quickly catches Mihawk who nods and then looks to Sanji who is like "what?" And Mihawk is like "and how have you been?" And Sanji, whose brain to mouth filter is gone for the moment, "well I'm not starving on a rock with Zeff so I think I'm good dad"

Okay.

Ace.EXE has stopped working. Robin is giggling madly at what Sanji said and Mihawk is pinching the bridge of his nose as Nami is yelling at Sanji and Chopper is crying and clinging to Sanji's leg. Zoro is gripping his sides laughing as everyone else is catching up while Ace is still blue screened. There is so much yelling. So much. Mihawk groans because he expected it, he did, but it's so much noisier than what he's used to. Even Buggy and Crocodile fighting every day should have made him used to the noise, and Perona and Roronoa before that, doesn't make it easier.

And then yeah, Luffy would say some dumb shit like which causes Ace, who has just started to come back around to blue screen again. He shouldn't be scared, he was the second division commander(or still is? First division maybe? Is he a strawhat? You decide!) He had a war fought over him specifically. He fought Germa to save his boyfriend! He's fought admirals and vice admirals and was raised by mountain bandits and Garp, he isn't scared but his boyfriend, Sanji, the love of his life and light of his life is Dracule Mihawk's son? Like what the actual fuck and then he watches Mihawk blink as Sanji lights a cigarette off of his own foot and Ace goes "I know! I go to prison and he disappears for two years and can do that and sky walk!"

Mihawk looks to Sanji and is like really? And Sanji points out that he told Mihawk he wanted to learn to fly when he was eleven after Marco flew him around Kuraigana as a reward when Marco came to check on the hand he broke training Sanji with swords. The hand that freaked Mihawk out because it healed in two weeks. And Chopper nods solemnly "youve always healed freakishly fast, after seeing Germa it makes sense"

And Luffy talks about the fact that Sanji broke his back and fought the next day and was fine. Sanji points out Zoro tried to cut off his feet on the island before that. Luffy says he stabbed himself in the face. Mihawk is looking at the monster trio before Koala and Nami say in tandem that when the brothers are together it is worse. Mihawk agrees to have dinner with them all and he's catching up with Jinbei who asks him why he didn't betray at Marineford and Mihawk gestures at the island which makes Sanji ask about Kuraigana. Turns out the Marines are trying to take it over.

"Trying" being the key word. Sanji and Zoro nod. Ace is like "why didn't you tell me?" And Sanji just gestures between him and Mihawk and asks if anyone would have believed him. Zoro says not before training under Mihawk. Jinbei says their humor is very similar. Then Ace asks about Marco and the broken hand which Sabo and Luffy are climbing Ace to hear about and Mihawk tells them about how he had just started training Sanji in haki then a few days later White Beard pulls Sanji out of hiding space and sent him into a PTSD attack. Sanji nods over the stove as he cooks and then tells the story of Mihawk breaking his hand.

Like when they're in town at the Doctor and he says it's fine? But it's not fine? It was broken in several places? Mihawk felt awful and Yoru screamed at him the entire time. And when Marco checked on him after Mihawk called in the favor cuz he scared the fuck out of his son and when Marco was checking him over he looked at Mihawk and double checked that he broke Sanji's hand, triple checked even. And then later he flew Sanji around and Marco laughed at Mihawk for how pale he went even though he's already translucent.

Sabo and Luffy are laughing, Ace really wants to join them but that's his boyfriend's dad. The Greatest Swordsman Alive is his boyfriend's dad. He's terrified. But as Sanji starts to get ready to serve Luffy is trapped by hands and Ace goes to help Sanji and Koala sits on Sabo to keep him distracted.

"Luffy will try to steal your food, he doesn't care, no matter how much I feed him or how often." Sanji says as he and Ace start setting plates in front of people.

"The exact opposite of you then." Mihawk says.

"Okay well, we don't need to get into that. Look at who I date and my captain, trust me. It's fine." Sanji assures the man who just eyes him. "Judge is alive, worry about that." And Luffy is whining so when they're all sat with plates Mihawk watches first hand how Luffy eats, Sabo eats like he's on a mission as well. Ace probably had manners beat into him by Deuce, Marco, and Makino so at least there's that. Mihawk expertly evades Luffy where as his crew and brothers and Koala will stab Luffy in the hands.

Sanji makes Zoro help with dishes since he trained for two years under and they're just gonna be washing dishes. Luffy asks what Sanji was like on Kuraigana and Mihawk answers. Leaves out most of the trauma healing they had to work on. Ace probably doesn't know the extent. Sanji's scars were faded by the time he was thirteen. And the Nami says she thought Sanji would be taller after seeing his birth family and Mihawk cocks a brow as Sanji tenses slightly.

"That is something Sanji will discuss if he so chooses. Bear in mind Luffy is the grandson of Garp and son of Dragon and he's not their height. He may still grow." Mihawk points out.

When dishes are done they filter out at some point it's just Ace and Mihawk. Luffy is probably already begging for food or dessert or something. Sabo is talking with Jinbei but keeping an eye on Ace and Mihawk.

"So are you going to give me a shovel talk or something?" Ace asks.

"I don't necessarily see the need." Mihawk answers. "Unless you want me to threaten you?"

"No, no, it's okay." Ace quickly assures a hand on his neck. "I just wish he told me about you."

"I'm sure you feel the same way about Germa as well." Mihawk says and Ace nods. "Never told me the name of his country, once in a great while would tell me something vague about his family. I couldn't risk having someone take him. It took a lot of work to get him here."

Ace nods again as they watch the crew and Mihawk chats idly with some members who aren't afraid to talk to him.

"So if I married Sanji-"

"Don't push your luck."

I'm so intrigued by Jeff and Charlie's relationship. Charlie was EVERYTHING to Jeff. A parent figure, brother, friend, and so much more. They share so much trauma together and are each other's ride or die. Everyone ( at least that I know of) phrases it as Charlie who keeps himself alive for Jeff. But it's also true vice versa. Jeff couldn't care less about people and his whole life and world is Charlie. Like a 3 yr old's whole world is their parent. He doesn't need anything except his brother ( Char) who accepts him for the REAL HIM. I feel like the reason Jeff has a attitude with ppl is obviously because of his trust issues also because he knows Charlie already loves him for who he is , so why does he need to socialize with others or need them? Working in the same garage ( 10 feet apart without any interaction) is already enough!!!!

Scarlet frustrations

So I'm rereading Scarlet (already finished Cinder reread, will infact be doing the whole series, probably) and I love it, it's so much fun, BUT I have some Thoughts

Specifically on the worldbuilding. Now I'm sur this is also a thing in Cinder, with the Eastern Commonwealth, but seeing as I am not asian and don't have an extensive knowledge of the different cultures within the continent, I can't speak for it

But France does not feel French, at all. It doesn't feel European at all.

The first thing that made me go 'absolutely not. Uh-uh. My suspension of disbelief will not take that.' Is the fact that Scarlet just carries a gun around, no lock, fully loaded AND has a PERMIT to do so?! Even tho she's just a FARMER?! Like, these days France has strict gun laws and pretty much no one can carry around loaded fire arms like that. It is simply not legal. (Military amd stuff that are on duty being the exception)

And that just started to make me extra aware of how US-american the entire thing feels.

In Paris, there's a motel, using the whole 'Sleep witg the ghost of dead civilians' refering to the people that died in the fourth world war. That just doesn't and would nkt happen pretty much anywhere in France (or Europe for that matter.) Because using the atrocities of war as a marketing gimmick for tourists is seen as (and honestly objectively just is) disrespectful.

There's also a few smaller things, like smelling bread from a patisserie, but patisseries tend to only make cakes 'n stuff. It's a boulangerie.

The train Scarlet and Wolf take from Toulouse goes past Montpellier to go to Paris, even though Montpellier is further away from Paris than Toulouse.

And a bigger cultural thing js that a bunch of important historic buildings that got destroyed during WW4, just never got repaired?? In a country that has laws in place to make sure most of (public) radio has French songs? And a whole institution dedicated to preserving the French language? They would just leave buildings the THE LOUVRE standing around in disrepair? Even if they'd decided that repairing would be too expensive (again unlikely. Look at how quickly they repaired the Norte Dame. Different situation ofcourse and that happened years afternpublication of Scarlet, but still) they'd level it and rebuild something else, I think?

And a last smaller thing is that they actually use the word 'mademoiselle', unironically, despite the fact that it's oldfashioned and hardly ever used in France anymore. It would've been fine, fun even, if Jael had used it and Scarlet had reacted all offended, cuz that is old fashioned and misogynistic!

And I get that some of it is just nitpicking, but the book could have just been set in the US, and it would've been fine. Or she should have done just a little bit of research, taken the time to google some of these things, it really would not have been that hard.

Again, I love the book, and the series as a whole! It js one of my favourite YA series. This I just gad to get off my chest a lil

Bumi probably. Latent 'grew up in the coldass southern water tribe' instincts. Chef will be awkwardly spooning onto Bumi, trying to retain at least some heat

19. What do they fight about most often? (Alternative: what was their biggest fight?)

Honestly I don't think they get into fights often. They will bicker about small things like what to have for breakfast and stuff. But no big fights imo. Like they've both been very bloodthirsty in their youths so they've defined mellowed out in their oldet ages.

Their biggsat fight was an hours long naval battle including 4 ships. 3 of those ships sunk that day... the screams if those taken by the murky depths and sharks will forever exho in the ears of the survivors. The water had turned red with blood... the smoke from the canons eclipsed the blazing sunlight. Chef lost the fineat right hand man he'd ever had to Bumi's hand to hand combat skills. He almost lost his own life too... saved himself only by unleashing his pet iguana parrot, sir Pecksalot the III onto the bastard. Bumi still has the faint indent intue shell of his left ear where he was pecked....

They still reminisce fondly over it during tea 🍵☀️

39. Do they get along witg the other's family? If not, how do they deal with the other's family?

Chef probably gets along with Bumi's family pretty well. The kids afore him and he adores them. They probably remind him of he Beifong babies when they were younger. He always has snacks and goodies to bribe them with.

He gets along swimmingly with Pema and they defo swap recipies. He probably bonds with Kya about travelling and stuff like that.

Though I can see there being some tension between him and Tenzin. I'm not sure how happy Tenzin would be about his brother dating an ex pirate and said ex pirate hanging out with his kids????

Katara probably calls Chef 'the nicest pirate she's ever met' and they get along super well.

The closest Chef has to family are probably the Beifongs and Bumi is at least semi friendly with them. Like he knows Su well, of course and he definitely still treats her like a little sister lol. He's probably very friendly to the kids too. Mostly with Opal because they're airbending buddies. Though I could also see him sorta bonding with Baatar Jr over their similarities too. He definitely calls himself their uncle Bumi and they're like 'Pls sir we don't know you that well??? You're not our uncle?'
