lots of speculation over how round 7 between luka and till will turn out! and its had me thinking about the presence of recurring motifs and how the main ensemble are foils of each other.

i know that many people like to joke about how sua and ivan are genderbends of each other/basically siblings... but in my honest opinion, i think the parallels between the two (similar hair styles and having the more subdued personality of the pairing) are to throw us off about what we know about hyuna and luka lol.

sua and ivan's similarities are to emphasize their situational differences, highlighted by the comic where ivan expressed envy over sua not being in an unrequited love situation (yeah i know that's literally what the definition of a literary foil is, but hear me out LOL). so in that sense i feel that they're not really as similar as it seems?

i personally think that sua has more similarities to luka than she is with ivan, excluding her relationship with mizi. both in terms of their upbringing as being treated like dolls and how their resting face is kind of empty when they're not with mizi/hyuna respectively lol. plus their listless acceptance of the lethal circumstances they exist in

tbh even the childhood dynamic between mizisua and hyuluka (before the hyunwoo thing...of course...) is pretty similar, with mizi/hyuna dragging sua/luka around

i think by emphasizing the similarity between luka and sua, it reframes the events that happened in round 5. while luka probably was purposefully exploiting mizi's grief, it does come to question how much of the cutting shots between the two was mizi seeing sua in luka.

so how does this relate to round 7 between till and luka? there's a lot of speculation that luka will demolish till by pulling the same schtick he did with mizi -- and conversely there's a lot of speculation that vivinos and qmeng will subvert expectations by having till somehow overcome his depression by becoming numb to luka's tricks.

here's a third idea i haven't seen being brought up: luka seeing hyuna in till. i propose this idea because i think we can make some comparisons between till and hyuna. both of them are the most rebellious of the ensemble, both had a tendency to roughhouse as children, and both's choice of music genre is very high-powered with a heavy emphasis on the guitar (i want to say they both have that rock and roll vibe but unfortunately music isn't my forte and i don't want the genreheads to get on my ass LOL).

and now suddenly it feels like the random tidbits we get about luka's interactions with till feels like they're hinting towards something:

I Had A Thought (Shadow and Bone Netflix edition)

So y'all know how in season 1, Jesper has the "did he remember you?" line to Kaz about Rollins? and there was all the speculation because that's different from the books what does he know here??? but from Jes's reaction in season 2 when Kaz is monologuing at Rollins about Jordie/what Rollins did, Jesper very much did Not know about that whole deal

(At least that was my interpretation of his reaction)

(Also there's the fact that Jes refers to Kaz and himself as brothers which I don't think he would do at that point in time if he knew about Jordie so unless Kaz mentioned the History with Rollins without bringing up Jordie…)

ANYWAY. When they're in the prison wagon in season 2 episode 1 Jes makes that one comment about how Rollins is all Involved in/with Hellgate, and we see later that Hellshow is already a thing and (if I'm remembering correctly) that Rollins actually goes to it at least sometimes

So, my Thought:

What if Kaz got sent to Hellgate at some point pre-show-canon and was forced to fight in Hellshow and Rollins was there/watched and Jes found out about this somehow and that's why he wondered if Rollins might know and remember Kaz

I am soooo sick of this 'bonus tracks sequestered to certain versions of the album' thing, i'll say it with my chest. What ever happened to the Album (Deluxe)?? It feels so greedy, just a ploy to make more money and like... girlie doesn't need more money.

So, it happened. Here’s the thing: Binotto out doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing.

And no matter which way you spin it he just wasn’t a good leader and should never have been in a Team Principal position, not to mention he certainly should never have occupied the Technical Director and Team Principal position at the same time, that’s madness. But he wanted to be the top dog so bad they let him get what he wants just so he wouldn’t leave. And his tenure was... a mixed bag.

2019 looked promising, until it became obvious that they can’t quite mount a title challenge like they could in previous years. Then the “illegal engine” fiasco. By all means, create an ingenious grey area solution to make your car faster, no problems there. But then have the political prowess to defend it. Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion, but I can’t see RB or Mercedes being hit so hard by the “illegal engine” saga, I mean, to the point where they end up in the midfield? Come on. Nothing happened with Merc’s DAS, they were allowed to use it for the rest of the year even though the technology officially became outlawed for the future. RB gets away with basically a slap on the wrist for creative accounting. TD039 (this year’s technical directive) was introduced after Mercedes pushed for it. Who did it hit hardest? Ferrari. Like them or hate them, Horner and Wolff are both strong leaders who will pull out all the stops if they see an opportunity for their respective teams, and the consequences are usually minimal.

So, Binotto is given credit for getting Ferrari out of a midfield rut (you can question whether they should’ve avoided ending up in that position in the first place). Great. Carte blanche for 2022, he can do whatever he wants, as long as he delivers the ultimate goal (the championship). Because that... was the goal, at least at the beginning, and it came from his own mouth. Of course, that was the problem with Binotto, this inconsistency, contradiction, constant verbal moving of the goalposts. Maybe a handful of victories is enough. Maybe just showing up to compete is enough. Who knows.

A few promising victories followed by a string of reliability issues (which are, to be honest, forgivable, considering it’s year one of the new regulation cycle), bizarre strategy calls, lack of authority regarding team orders (this is the same man who wasn’t afraid to pull the trigger Piglet when it came to Seb and Charles in 2019 btw, and that wasn’t a title contending year), lack of clear driver hierarchy, modifications that actually make the car slower (but more comfortable for one of the drivers, such success), a dogged defense of said bizarre strategies to the media (including a childish shunning of any journalist who dared disagree that Hungary was a resounding strategic success), patronizing behaviour and frequent undermining comments regarding one’s own driver (the finger-wagging incident and borderline gaslighting whenever Charles suggested the strategy/tyre wear/etc. might’ve been what failed them). And all of that to deliver a grand total of four wins in a twenty two race season (but I thought there’s no reason they can’t win 10 races in a row? 🤔).

Now. Do Ferrari’s problems extend beyond Binotto? Yes. Should they, ideally, continue overhauling the trackside team (starting with Rueda)? Absolutely. That doesn’t mean, however, that one man should be virtually “unfireable,” especially when he proves he’s unfit for the position he currently occupies. Being a skilled engineer doesn’t necessarily make one suitable for a public, media-facing position. He doesn’t have the pull, the charisma, for that. And that’s fine! But it does become a problem when he had insisted on taking that role. Ideally he would’ve returned to the factory to continue being an engineer, resuming his pre-2019 role. Perhaps he was offered such a position, we don’t know. I doubt Ferrari wanted to lose him altogether. Unfortunately, it seems his personal ambition and ego stood in the way of him accepting anything less than full-blooded leadership, which is why he resigned.

Something so fucked in how it's Wilardo specifically who ends up doodling with Claire and Sirius, who gives them both some of his preserved flowers as a thank you for letting them stay in the mansion/just out of kindness. He's the one that struggles for around a day debating if it's right to kill Claire for his wish and ultimately decides letting them both live is the easier (happier) option for him. Even if he'd be dead soon after. How when it all ends it isn't Noel or Ashe who walks away with them both but Wilardo, who had killed them both in Sirius's initial scenario.

Ugh, I really gotta stop getting into stuff because somebody describes it has having homoerotic relationships. My roommate who knows my tumblr was telling me about how prosekai had all these women who cared so so deeply about each other, and I used to love beat saber back when I had access to a VR rig, so I downloaded it, despite having no previous exposure to Miku except through said roommate. And now I am sitting here trying to think about Immanuel Kant and the ethics of end of life care but noooooo my brain wants to sing Ghost Rule at top volume. Thanks, brain. Thanks, women.
