A few months ago, we investigated why there are so many abandoned Pizza Huts throughout the United States. I recently fell into an International House of Pancakes (IHOP) rabbit hole and asked myself the same question about this restaurant franchise.

Like Pizza Hut, IHOP still exists. Also like Pizza Hut, all original IHOP restaurants had an architecturally unique look to them. From the 1950s through the 70s, all IHOP restaurants sported a distinct A-frame structure. This lasted until 1979 when the last A-frame was built. Starting in the 1980s, they retired this look and opted for a more modern style.

Today, there are a handful of the original IHOP buildings left. The company didn't completely phase them out but they definitely abandoned many through the years. I've included photos of these vacant IHOP A-frames through the country.

I was recently traveling and passing through Connecticut to get where I was going. Stopped at an IHOP for dinner and I'll be damned if it wasn't the weirdest IHOP I have ever seen.

It was so bougie. It sold liquor. It was basically abandoned during dinner time. The only other people in the restaurant made some kind of scene. It was a weird.

Am I getting at something with all this? No, not really.

I was a waitress at an IHOP and Jensen Ackles got seated at my table. I didn't give him a straw because I recalled that he said there's no way to drink from a straw in a manly way. He thought I was weird. I think he knew somehow.

Incongruous House of Pancakes

(World Goth Day was a few days ago, apparently? Moreover, this is an old concept on the shelf I had back when "Femboy Hooters" and its derivatives took off a couple of years back; with "Goth IHOP" being one of them. More to the point, it's sort of a sequel/spinoff of this art of Gumm and Taffy by @fernal-red / @fernalredart. Felt the previous "holiday" was a good opportunity to put it to use.)

IHop worker: No it doesn’t. I need your state issued ID.

Rae: Yeah 50 states got together to give me this ID so I could go to Canada. And get some pancakes!

IHop worker: We will only accept a Canadian drivers license as ID-

Whenever I see this I just respect tails that much more Cause like what are these other options

Amy has a pretty much a dessert it even words it as a dessert

Sonic it looks raw for some reason yeah great work ihop raw blueberry pancakes and it looks so messy I just don’t see Sonic eating it

Eggman it makes a bit more sense he’s a egg and Benedict has like eggs dr eggman’s egg Benedict the name is the only thing I can say about it reminds me of sonic boom tho

Knuckles has a chicken sandwich I can at least see him eating it but isn’t this a breakfast restaurant slap some eggs on there make it a breakfast chicken sandwich you could even put some gravy on there 

Shadows I can see him eating it something about Maria and it’s black just like him and the name is pretty great respectable

Tails is just perfect nice and simple in fact it’s what I get every time I go just some egg pancakes and bacon my question is why are there only two pieces of bacon and the name is kinda hard to say but I can see him eating it nice and simple
