for all my dog motif metas, chief really detests being referred to as such in a demeaning manner and a way to insult her, esp in regards to being one for the higher ups :'D

i know it will never happen but i so desperately desire an origins-type playable backstory thing in all games but especially veilguard. i feel like it added so much depth to origins and made you feel instantly connected to your character in a way that gets lost in games like inquisition where you fill in the blanks as you go except for the bare basics. like, i do enjoy the freedom to willy nilly decide where a character was before the events of the story from a creative perspective, but the playable origins were just so good! especially when you go back to where your warden is from and can engage differently with the arcs there

Jacks will have to make Evangeline fall in love with him again. Honestly shouldn’t be a problem, he’s done it twice already. Apollo’s a fool with no game lol he’s going to get embarrassed

wait guys why are we shipping euphrasia and vania again????
euphrasia is probably around sora and arin's age, right? like 15 or 16? and vania would've been around atleast 18 in season 13 for her to be coronated as queen, and even if she wasn't that age, with the amount of time passing from then till dr would make her in her 20s (whether early or mid) by now so uh...yknow???

just started book 3 of my ATLA rewatch and, all goofs aside, I do think it's a massive shame how many genuinely interesting ideas are in here which never get to shine because the headwriters are fundamentally uncomfortable with the themes they inserted into their own story.
they want to write a story introducing kids to the concept of war, but all of their main characters are inexplicably insanely competent and powerful, so we only get a handful of scenes depicting the war with any amount of realism. these scenes usually involve very minor one-off characters, and while evocative to adult viewers to an extent, they are likely to go over kids' heads because they're not grounded in the central narrative.
the writers are eager to borrow concepts from various asian mythologies and schools of thought, but they cherry-pick the parts they think are "cool" or "deep", while ignoring or shouting down ideas that don't neatly line up with what they themselves are already able to relate to (see the whole "opening the chakras"/"letting go of katara" plotline).
they want to portray strong, independent female characters standing up to sexism, but every female character must still on some level aspire to be someone's wife (and the dark-skinned girls are depicted as already fitting the mold perfectly; it seems to be the price they pay to be allowed in the story at all. the writers attempted to branch out a little in the sequel series with korra, but immediately felt so uncomfortable they felt the need to put the character through an insanely traumatic plotline as punishment for creative choices they made!).
there are many more of these, but you get the pattern. it's what happens when creatives like the idea of doing something meaningful, but ultimately can't bring themselves to leave their own comfort zones.
I'd honestly be interested in reading fanfiction of ATLA by writers who have a better understanding of the themes it's trying to depict, because there are a lot of interesting pieces on the board and I would love to see them moved around by players who aren't fucking stupid and actually know what the hell they're talking about

Just finished the third season of Bridgerton (it was an incredibly frustrating watch)...People have said that Penelope is named as such because of her nickname Pen and her being a writer... but has anyone thought of the reference to the Odyssey and Penelope being the wife of Odysseus? You know, she had to be loyal for 20 years while Odysseus gallivanted across the globe and was distracted/cheating on her Circe? I feel like it goes with the whole Polin narrative too. She's the one who had to wait for him to get a clue. And if you've read the Penguin version of the Odyssey, you know everyone is like omg! Odysseus, so amazing, the sacker of cities etc. Which parallels Colin's "glow up". Totally think it's more of a literary reference since the two of them are writers...
#bridgerton#bridgerton season 3#colin bridgerton#penelope featherington#polin#don't know how much this works for the book#didn't read the books#I ranted at my sister for an hour straight about this season (behated)#wtf was the character arcs for any of the characters this season? a whole lot of nothing..#the writers literally set everything up and then did everything in their power to make the arcs pointless#soooo many crimes of telling instead of showing#bridgerton was never high art but season 1 and 2 landed character and the audience buying into the relationships and cheering for the coupl#disappointed#literally feel like I hated polin in what was supposed to be their season#colin vascilates wildly... and there are like two scenes where i recognize the character he was is season 1 and 2#literally hated him for soooo much#really hate how the season wasn't about the couple but whistledown#and yet they couldn't show us WHY Penelope wants to keep being Whistledown besides telling us why so I just don't get why#they could not decide if whistledown is good or bad and settled on girlboss power!#but here i am like girl... you're ruining lives... you've ruined lives... it's just gossip#they literally screwed over all their characters for nothing#their scenes of intimacy don't land because they feel incredibly paint by numbers and often occur after intense confrontations#confrontations that do not logically make sense for sexy times#the mirror scene exists purely as plot so colin can later accuse Penelope of trapping him in marriage#like that's suuuuper ick#they made colin so incredibly ick i don't recognize him or want him with Penelope#even Penelope making the choice to be whistledown over her new family was insane and illogical based on how the plot developed#i watched the seaon twice to really pin down how I feel and ended up rewatching season 1 and 2 because season 3 part 2 pissed me off so muc#and it's sooo night and day#i just feel sad because i wanted to root for this couple too... but they made it unrootable

Trans fem John and Trans Masc Jade is great and all but consider neither of them wanting to change their identifiable features because hair sensory issues. John refuses to let her hair grow to the shoulders because it makes her neck itchy and Jade refuses to cut his hair because he gets too cold without all the hair.

i'm having feelings about the way mental health has been discussed in this album and tbh none of them are good... as someone who was drawn to taylor's lyricism when i first started listening to her i'm only enjoying this album because i like the music production lol i'm straight up ignoring so many lyrics. not that there aren't any good ones it's just that so many of them are making me feel icky. idk i know it's meant to be raw or whatever but so many lyrics sound so unkind when it comes to dealing with mental health issues specifically. what do you think about it, especially since you're majoring in psychology?
This is such an interesting point, because I've been having several thoughts about the way mental health is being discussed in the fandom rn. Right from swifties giggling at the that one interview where she says "I don't need therapy. I'm sane." (as if therapy is only for someone "insane", whatever that is) and joking about the psych ward, taking the asylum and functional alcoholic lyrics in light and lowkey making fun of someone's addiction is just....disgusting? I think taylor tried to be earnest in her portrayal of her struggles but it's getting lost in translation for me, because some of the lyrics seemed to not only imply that her partner's struggles with depression or addiction were a reason for the relationship to fall apart (which is fine, that happens and is an extremely difficult process for both partners) but also point out how it's their fault for not being able to get over those struggles? I keep reiterating that I still haven't played the album in its entirety so it's possible I'm missing a few facts, but there is a very fine line between expressing your mental health issues through art in a way that is cathartic and important to the artist + inspiring to their audience and cherry picking imagery that you find the most "aesthetic" for your art with little concern over how those who actually experience these issues may perceive it + its actual public reception

IT’S BOUNDARY TIME!!!
I know that majority of Batfam fans are fem/identify with she/her but good lawd the amount of asks I get with fem! reader is astounding
that’s alright in itself and all
but when I’ve rarely if never write fem! reader here??? unless it’s intrinsic to the theme of the story like midnight darling or in my early fics when i had no sense of boundaries for myself 😭
in anycase what i wanted to say is that if you guys send asks that use she/her pronouns/fem reader then expect me to answer them with a they/them instead. there are already way too little yanfics with batfam and even smoller that caters to people that don’t identify with those pronouns (*cough* me *cough*)
now i’m tempted to write more male reader fics out of spite. i’m starting to understand those fem dni posts now hhhh /lh /j
(btw afab reader is completely fine)
(though i dont think genitals matter when i dont write much explicit stuff here)

I’m actually such a huge Dante fan and I much prefer her to Father.
Father defenders come get me but it never sat right with me how all of the violent conflicts in amestris, especially ishbal, were the result of one evil inhuman god wannabe. It’s too easy. Very ahahaha the big bad was behind it all along, which is a weird approach when dealing with something as sensitive as genocide. Thematically, it makes so much more sense to have the drive to these conflicts be a deeply human one.
Though she may deny it Dante is a person, and a deeply selfish one at that. And in a world that is crumbling beneath the wills of many deeply selfish people, Dante sticks out as a much more real character.

As a transfem, I desire more transfem preg/birth content. I’ve only ever found one fic that actually did this and I can’t for the life of me find it again. You’d think with the amount of cis mpreg birth content that just disregards biology there would at least be some transfem content, but there’s barely anything. It makes me sad.
