It's interesting (if often frustrating) to see the renewed Orc Discourse after the last few episodes of ROP. I've seen arguments that orcs have to be personifications of evil rather than people as such or else the ethics of our heroes' approach to them becomes much more fraught. Tolkien's work, as written, seems an odd choice to me for not wrangling with difficult questions, and of course, more diehard fans are going to immediately bring up Shagrat and Gorbag.
If you haven't read LOTR recently, Shagrat and Gorbag are two orcs who briefly have a conversation about how they're being screwed over by Sauron but have no other real options, about their opinions of mistakes that have been made, that they think Sauron himself has made one, but it's not safe to discuss because Sauron has spies in their own ranks. They reminisce about better times when they had more freedom and fantasize about a future when they can go elsewhere and set up a small-scale banditry operation rather than being involved in this huge-scale war. Eventually, however, they end up turning on each other.
Basically any time that someone brings up the "humanity" of this conversation, someone else will point out that they're still bad people. They're not at all guilty about what they're part of. They just resent the dangers to themselves, the pressure from above, failures of competence, the surveillance they're under, and their lack of realistic alternative options. The dream of another life mentioned in the conversation is still one of preying on innocent people, just on a much smaller and more immediate scale, etc.
I think this misses the reason it keeps getting brought up, though. The point is not that Shagrat and Gorbag are good people. The point is that they are people.
There's something very normal and recognizable about their resentment of their superiors, their fears of reprisal and betrayal that ultimately are realized, their dislike of this kind of industrial war machine that erases their individual work and contributions, the tinge of wistfulness in their hope of escape into a different kind of life. Their dialect is deliberately "common"—and there's a lot more to say about that and the fact that it's another commoner, Sam, who outwits them—but one of the main effects is to make them sound familiar and ordinary. And it's interesting that one of the points they specifically raise is that they're not going to get better treatment from "the good guys" so they can't defect, either.
This is self-interested, yes, but it's not the self-interest of some mystical being or spirit or whatnot, but of people.
Tolkien's later remarks tend to back this up. He said that female orcs do exist, but are rarely seen in the story because the characters only interact with the all-male warrior class of orcs. Whatever female orcs "do," it isn't going to war. Maybe they do a lot of the agricultural work that is apparently happening in distant parts of Mordor, maybe they are chiefly responsible for young orcs, maybe both and/or something else, we don't know. But we know they're out there and we know that they reproduce sexually and we know that they're not part of the orcish warrior class.
Regardless of all the problems with this, the idea that orcs have a gender-restricted warrior class at all and we're just not seeing any of their other classes because of where the story is set doesn't sound like automatons of evil. It sounds like an actual culture of people that we only see along the fringes.
And this whole matter of "but if they're people, we have to think about ethics, so they can't be people" is a weird circular argument that cannot account for what's in LOTR or for much of what Tolkien said afterwards. Yes, he struggled with The Problem of Orcs and how to reconcile it with his world building and his ethical system, but "maybe they're not people" is ultimately not a workable solution as far as LOTR goes and can't even account for much of the later evolution of his ideas, including explicit statements in his letters.
And in the end, the real response that comes to mind to that circular argument is "maybe you should think about ethics more."

"if we make america worse and more of a dictatorship that will be even harder to unravel and make it the way we want the country to be, maybe then everyone will join our Glorious Revolution!" bb girl you cant even be in the same room with someone who thinks you should vote, how in tf do you think you're gonna unite people to fight in The Revolution with you? it's gonna be you and your 5 friends, i hate to break it to you.
#i dont think you realize how repelling you and your politics are to everyone else#you get all of your validation for how Smart You Are from your friends and ignore any kind of feedback that suggests you should#change or do something differently. thats the only reason you're so convinced average people will go along with you bc you keep getting#affirmation from the people who ALREADY agree with you- but you have NO IDEA how to bridge the gap between people who agree#with you and disagree with you. you're horrible at convincing people of your side of things outside of straight up guilt tripping them#or bullying them like a highschooler. im sorry but the tools you learned to survive with as a kid aren't gonna help you in this situation.#the ONLY THING you can come up with to bridge that gap is a bloody revolution. thats how bad you are at this.#and you're also so bad at this and unimaginative that you dont even realize how THAT might not even be enough.#you cant imagine ANY kind of avenue to getting people to change AT ALL outside of blood and fire. and thats why people call you#an authoritarian.#i'll be honest- i really do think the world would be a better place if we did incremental change under a democratic president who wont#set the world on fire vs the godkingemperor republican WHO WONT EVEN LISTEN TO YOU AT ALL EVER AND MIGHT KILL YOU#FOR PUTTING UP A STINK. idk if you noticed but if that evil fuck gets into office we are severely outnumbered if he gets police#n shit to go after his own citizens. letting trump win is making this battle so much harder than it needs to be.#you are choosing trying to fix the world while its exploding vs trying to fix it before it explodes at all.#what is this like a procrastination thing? you wanna wait till the last minute to try? idfgi. wtf is wrong with you#throwing minority lives away to prove a point. and then you try to tell me you care. gtfoh.#accelerationists should never be taken seriously.

Yeah thing abt anxiety is you actually literally do have to grab your brain sometimes and go "Are you actually in danger?! Is this problem something we can actually fix now or is it a situation that is out of our control and therefore worrying about it actually does nothing?! Huh?!" And then force yourself to realize what situations your anxiety is ACTUALLY helpful and how to let go in situations where it isnt
Unfortunately this is not a skill that you get with a snap of your fingers, you literally have to TEACH yourself how to do it and it's painful.
Even more unfortunately rational people sitting outside of your anxiety are NOT AWARE that this is a literal skill you were basically born without and just tell you "calm down" without understanding YOU DON'T HAVE THE TOOLS TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT. If someone who was super good at weight lifting told me, a beginner at weights, to just "pick up a 50 pound dumbbell" I'D DIE, because I haven't trained to do that! I quite literally don't have the muscle or knowledge on proper techniques to do that without hurting myself, physically or emotionally!!!
So yes, sometimes you DO have to take the high road and just tell yourself "I do NOT need to worry about this" even though it feels stupid and useless because you still worry, but you also have to forgive yourself and understand you are learning! It won't be easy the first few times, and even when you get more used to self soothing and emotional regulation sometimes it's not linear and it's like your first day of lifting weights all over again!
I just think we as a society do need to understand that anxious disorders are both something we (anxious people) can NOT control without effort and therapy and that we (anxious people) need to realize sometimes we DO have to put in painful, uncomfortable work to manage it! It sucks but thats life, and it can get easier with the right support and whatever treatment looks like for you!

At this point Good Omens feels like a huge Pride and Prejudice AU, and season two was exactly the end of P&P act 2, when Lizzie rejects Mr Darcy's confession and first proposal (and don't we all love that scene now huh).
And I know S2's finale broke our hearts, mine hurts incredibly rn, but following this narrative structure, can we talk about P&P's GLORIOUS act three and what this could mean for Good Omens S3 and of course for Aziraphale and Crowley's romance?
Y'all know we'll have our Pemberley, right? It's called South Downs cottage in Devil's Dyke.

Refine, Test, and Validate Your Business Idea With ProtoBoost
In today’s fast-paced startup environment, having a groundbreaking idea is just the beginning. To build a successful product or venture, it’s essential to refine, test, and validate your business idea before you commit valuable time and resources. This is where ProtoBoost steps in — an intelligent platform that empowers entrepreneurs through AI-driven prototyping, AI idea validation, and real-world feedback collection.
Whether you’re launching your first startup or developing a new product within an existing company, understanding the startup idea validation process is the key to reducing risk, maximizing ROI, and delivering something the market truly wants.
Why Business Idea Validation Matters
The startup graveyard is filled with brilliant ideas that failed to validate real customer needs. Many founders skip validation in their excitement to build, often ending up with a product nobody wants or understands. This mistake is avoidable — and that’s exactly the problem ProtoBoost is solving.
Business idea validation is the systematic process of proving that your product or service idea has a market fit. It includes analyzing the target audience, identifying customer pain points, testing demand, and refining your concept based on feedback.
By integrating AI-driven tools into this process, ProtoBoost is changing the way startups approach early-stage product development.

Why Idea Validation is the Most Critical Step for Startup Success
Tumblr media
Launching a startup is an exciting journey filled with ambition, creativity, and the hope of making a real impact. However, many entrepreneurs make a critical mistake early in the process: they fall in love with their idea without first validating it. According to Forbes, nearly 90% of startups fail, and one of the top reasons is building a product no one wants.
This is where idea validation in entrepreneurship becomes essential.
What is Idea Validation?
Idea validation is the process of testing whether your startup concept solves a real problem for a specific group of people and whether those people are willing to pay for the solution. It bridges the gap between your assumptions and market reality.
Instead of diving headfirst into product development, effective startup idea validation ensures you’re solving a genuine pain point with measurable demand.
Why Idea Validation Matters So Much
1. Saves Time and Money
Without validation, you risk spending months — or years — building a product that doesn’t resonate with your target market. The cost of failure rises dramatically when you don’t test your assumptions early. Business idea validation helps you avoid wasted development time and resource burn by ensuring you’re working on something viable from day one.
2. Reduces Risk of Failure
Startups are inherently risky, but AI idea validation tools can reduce that risk significantly. By validating your concept early, you can pivot, refine, or even discard your idea before investing heavily in a flawed direction.
3. Builds Investor Confidence
Investors are more likely to support startups that demonstrate validated demand. Showing proof of interest, market feedback, or pre-sales through startup idea validation AI platforms can dramatically improve your pitch and credibility.
4. Guides Product Development
With real user feedback, your MVP (Minimum Viable Product) will be more aligned with what customers truly need. This means fewer redesigns, faster iteration, and a more valuable product.
Traditional vs. AI-Powered Idea Validation
Traditionally, entrepreneurs relied on surveys, interviews, and landing pages for validation. While effective, these methods can be time-consuming and subject to bias.
Today, startup idea validation AI platforms like ProtoBoost are changing the game by offering intelligent, automated validation through AI-driven data analysis, customer feedback simulations, and real-time decision support.

Key Steps in Startup Idea Validation
Let’s break down the essential stages of idea validation in entrepreneurship:
1. Define Your Problem and Audience
Start by identifying the problem your idea solves. Who experiences this problem? How often? The more specific your target audience, the easier it is to test your idea effectively.
2. Research the Market
Investigate whether similar solutions already exist. A saturated market might indicate opportunity, but only if you offer a unique advantage. Use AI tools to analyze trends, customer behavior, and competitor data.
3. Create a Hypothesis
Form a hypothesis like: “Freelancers aged 25–40 are struggling to find affordable legal support and would pay for a monthly subscription that provides legal templates and advice.”
This sets the foundation for testing.
4. Build a Simple MVP or Concept Prototype
Your MVP doesn’t need to be a full product. A clickable prototype, explainer video, or even a landing page can be enough to gauge interest. Tools like ProtoBoost include AI prototype generators that create visuals and mockups in minutes.
5. Collect Real Feedback
Share your concept with your target audience. Use surveys, feedback forms, and interviews — but make sure you’re not leading participants toward a “yes.” Neutral, open-ended questions are key.
With AI idea validation platforms, you can simulate target customer feedback, analyze tone, and uncover hidden patterns in responses.
6. Analyze the Results
Are people willing to pay? Did they share the concept with others? Are they signing up for a waitlist or showing other buying signals?
ProtoBoost, for example, scores your idea based on metrics like market fit, uniqueness, and potential traction using AI-driven models.
Real-World Examples of Idea Validation Wins
✅ Dropbox
Before writing a single line of code, Dropbox validated their idea with a simple explainer video. When thousands signed up, they knew it was worth building.
✅ Zappos
The founder tested the idea of selling shoes online by posting images from local shoe stores. Only after confirming people would buy did he build out a full e-commerce platform.
These companies succeeded not because of a brilliant idea, but because they validated their assumptions early.
How AI Is Revolutionizing Idea Validation
Modern tools like ProtoBoost streamline the entire startup idea validation process. Here’s how:
🔍 Market Analysis: Instantly scan trends, competition, and demand across platforms like Google Trends, Reddit, and forums.
💬 Simulated Feedback: AI mimics real audience reactions to test how your idea might be received.
📊 Scoring System: Get a validation score based on customer desirability, market size, and originality.
🧠 Rapid Iteration: Test multiple variations of your idea in hours, not weeks.
These capabilities give founders a huge head start in the increasingly competitive startup landscape.
Final Thoughts: Validate Before You Build
In the world of startups, execution is everything , but execution without validation is like setting sail without checking if the boat floats. By prioritizing business idea validation early, you give your startup the best chance to thrive.
Thanks to AI idea validation platforms like ProtoBoost, entrepreneurs can now validate faster, smarter, and with greater confidence than ever before.
So before you start building your app, website, or platform, ask yourself:

I can't find it and don't remember who said it but I saw something where op was comparing liberals' reaction to hearing AI the same way conservatives react to hearing pronouns and I'm gonna be thinking about that all night now
#my diary#it's an imperfect comparison cuz unlike the conservative/pronoun hysteria I think the anti-AI camp has some perfectly fair and valid points#I just also think those points are misguided and people are mad at the wrong things#and the assumed endgame(?) that AI as a tool can somehow be... what. defeated? made to go away forever? is frankly naive#I don't bring it up usually cuz I am NOT trying to discredit people's concerns about generative AI in late-stage capitalism#(like I'm a writer you don't have to tell me that automating creative work is dangerous and scary#if I hadn't lost my writing gig in 2022 I definitely would've been outsourced to chatgpt by now)#but the automation is not the problem here it's that our livelihoods depend on things not being automated#automation has been deleting jobs since the industrial revolution (possibly earlier idk I'm history-dumb)#the whole point of automation is ideally to reach a point where none of us HAVE to work anymore#but I concede that this is an extremely unhelpful and callous point to make in early 2025 on tumblr#anyway I'm rambling now cuz I don't wanna get off my butt and go to bed#I think I'm gonna turn my thoughts into an essay#cuz apparently I have a lot of them and maybe I'm finally ready to try writing essays again#oh yeah I'm pivoting the blog idea btw#decided a regular posting schedule was too stressful#and I'm too much of a yapper#so I'm going old-school and bringing the essay back#(I don't think it went anywhere)#I might even make pamphlets or zines#I wanna do more work than a blog but less work than a book you feel me

Tumblr media Tumblr media
              become the laziest shifter ,
shifting is not a labour camp. you are not laying bricks. you are not a victorian chimney sweep, coughing up soot and hoping the foreman doesn’t notice you pausing for breath. shifting is supposed to be effortless.
    here’s how to become one.
ʚ stop trying so hard. seriously. shifting is not an algebra equation that needs solving. the more you obsess, the more you reinforce the idea that shifting is difficult, that it requires strain. it doesn’t. it’s like falling asleep. easy, natural, inevitable. you don’t need to ‘do’ shifting. you just allow it.
start ditching the obsession with techniques. they are tools, not commandments. if a method feels like a second job, drop it. some people shift while blinking. others shift mid-sneeze. some wake up shifted. some never have to think about it at all. you’re allowed to be one of those people. shifting doesn’t reward effort, it rewards ease.
people who shift aren’t ‘lucky.’ they just decide they’ve already won. embrace the delusion. belief isn’t something you prove; it’s something you wear like an expensive coat. you don’t need external validation. your reality is dictated by you, not by polls or peer reviews.
stop tensing up in bed like you’re about to undergo surgery. roll over like you’ve just been fed grapes by hand and have never known stress. get comfortable. let go. do you think nero worried about his shifting technique? no. he just made a decree and the world bent to him. you are your own emperor. decree your reality.
shifting doesn’t need to feel like a cosmic event. no need for vibrating, levitating, the heavens parting. sometimes it’s quiet. lose the expectation of ‘fireworks.’  sometimes it’s like slipping into warm water, seamless and smooth. don’t wait for ‘proof’. just shift.
stop acting like reality is a prison cell. you are not ‘trapped’. you are not ‘stuck’. you’re just sitting in one room when you could walk into another. no chains, no locks, just a door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
or how to . . become the laziest manifestor ,
manifesting is not an unpaid internship. you are not earning it through blood, sweat, and desperate scripting at 3 a.m. manifesting is a birthright. a casual shrug. a ‘wouldn’t it be funny if. oh, look, it happened.’ you are not grinding for your desires.
so let’s talk about getting everything you want.
⭑ in its core, manifesting is just deciding. it is not a scavenger hunt. it is not an exam. it is not a ‘what if’. it is a ‘this is.’ people who get what they want simply assume it’s already theirs. they don’t waver. they don’t worry. they don’t ‘hope,’ they know.
stop micromanaging the how. do you manually control your heartbeat? do you stress over each individual breath? no? then stop hovering over your manifestations like an anxious project manager. you want it. it’s done. the ‘how’ isn’t your problem. the universe has already sorted the logistics.
start being delusional. your current reality is just a collection of past assumptions. want a new reality? adopt new assumptions. pretend you already have what you want. no, really. stop analysing. just be the version of you who has it. the world will catch up.
if you’re ‘waiting’ for your manifestation, you’re reinforcing that it isn’t here yet. and if you’re reinforcing lack, you’re just extending it. let go of ‘waiting.' live like it’s already yours. because it is.
the universe is not a vending machine you need to shake. detach. you don’t ‘make’ things happen. you request them, step back, and trust they’re coming. you ever seen a billionaire refresh their bank balance anxiously? no. they just know the money is there. treat your manifestations the same way.
you are already doing it. every single thing in your life right now, you manifested it. consciously or not. so you might as well start doing it on purpose.
                  ┊
stop making shifting and manifesting your part-time job. you are the main character, yes, but not the tragic, struggling one. be the one who gets what they want simply because they decide to. the one who moves through realities with ease, who manifests without breaking a sweat. become the laziest, most effortless version of yourself. because that’s the one who wins without having to lift a finger.

I love our designer soooo much. I love working with designers. I love talking with them while we have different perspectives (I ask questions to make sure a design is feasible on a technical level, they talk to me about research and design and how what we're doing is being validated with the people who will actually use the stuff we make). I just love being the person who executes someone's designs

reality shifting isn’t hard. you’ve been told it’s hard because everyone’s too scared to admit it’s not. they cling to their 800-step methods, their must-have crystals, their perfect conditions because they think that if they let go of that control, they’ll fail. but here’s the thing: the more you try to control the process, the more you convince yourself it’s out of your control. and that’s the problem. that’s why so many people feel stuck. shifting isn’t some big, far-fetched thing. it’s just you. it’s always been you.
we’re conditioned to think we’re powerless. think about it—school, work, society, all of it drills this idea into us that everything has to be proven, earned, validated. so, when you hear about shifting, your brain freaks out and says, wait, wait, this is too easy, this can’t be real. and then you spiral. you overcomplicate it. you make yourself think you need the “perfect” script, the “right” subliminal, or that you have to meditate for three hours while the stars align perfectly. like, no… you don’t. all of that? it’s fluff. it’s noise.
at its core, shifting is belief. just belief. no, really, let that sink in. you don’t need to “do” belief perfectly. it’s not something you master through sheer willpower. it’s something you already have. you’ve believed in things your whole life. you believed in gravity without needing proof. you believe your favorite songs are beautiful without needing to explain why. belief is natural. it’s effortless when you stop overthinking it. that’s the energy you need to bring to shifting—trust. trust that your mind knows what it’s doing, and that if you let it, it will take you there. every single extra thing you pile on? the overthinking, the doubt, the need for guarantees? that’s what’s slowing you down. not the “lack of progress,” not some mythical “block”—it’s you convincing yourself it’s harder than it is.
and let’s talk about social media for a second. oh my god, the shifting community on social media… i get it. it’s comforting to see other people on this journey. but let’s be honest—how much of that content is actually helping you? like, really? 90% of the time, scrolling through shifting advice isn’t inspiring; it’s overwhelming. everyone’s got their own opinions, their own “best methods,” their own rules. one person says scripting is a must, another says it’s a waste of time. one person swears by affirmations, another says visualization is the only way. and before you know it, you’re sitting there questioning everything you thought you knew, wondering if you’ll ever get it “right.” spoiler alert: you already know how to shift. you don’t need a thousand voices telling you what to do. in fact, the more you listen to them, the harder it becomes to hear yourself.
take a break. seriously. log off the apps. give yourself space to breathe and think. ask yourself: why do i want to shift? what’s stopping me? what feels right to me? no tiktok trend, youtube guide, or reddit post can answer those questions for you. only you can. and i know that sounds scary. we’ve been conditioned to think we need external validation for everything, but shifting is a deeply personal thing. you don’t need a step-by-step tutorial. you need to trust your instincts. that’s it.
and let me be clear: i’m not saying methods or subliminals are bad. they’re fine if they help you feel aligned. but they’re not what makes shifting happen. you are. methods are just tools. if you use them, great. if you don’t, that’s great too. because the truth is, shifting isn’t about doing things “right.” it’s about letting go of the idea that you need to.
so let me break it down for you. the only things you really need to shift are:
1. a desire. you have to want to go to your desired reality. no brainer, right?
2. belief. this is the big one. you have to trust it’s possible. no “what ifs,” no “but hows.” just trust.
3. persistence. if it doesn’t happen right away, that’s okay. don’t give up. if you’ve ever learned to ride a bike, you know that falling doesn’t mean you can’t do it—it just means you’re learning. shifting is the same.
that’s it. no fancy rituals, no endless research, no “perfect” conditions. the process is simple because it’s natural. you’ve probably done it before without even realizing it— the only reason it feels hard now is because you’ve convinced yourself it has to be.
stop making it harder than it needs to be. shifting isn’t this unattainable, mystical thing reserved for “chosen ones.” it’s something anyone can do. you can do it. your mom can do it. that anti-shifter lurking in every crevice of shiftblr could do it. you’ve always been capable. but you have to stop getting in your own way. stop doubting yourself. stop relying on others to tell you what’s possible. this is your journey. own it.
and above all, be patient. shifting is not a race. it’s not about how fast you can get there or how perfect your dr is. it’s about trust, intention, and focus. log off, tune into yourself, and let it happen. shifting has always been yours to claim. it’s not something you need permission for. it’s not something you need to earn. it’s just you, your mind, and your belief. always has been, always will be.
