୨୧ — jj’s confession; s.r (1)
of course the one day you decide to take a day off, your best friend confesses her love for your husband
bau!reader x husband!spencer reid
warnings: emotional cheating (kinda), fighting (kinda)
spencer didn’t tell you about what had happened that day. once he got home he wanted to forget the whole thing ever happened, so he wouldn’t have to think about choosing between waiting on jj and loving his wife.
"hey." was all he said as he walked into your shared home, hanging his satchel on the coat rack and heading straight for the bedroom, all without making any eye contact with you.
this was odd for him, as he usually greets you with a hug and kiss once he gets home and would sit with you and talk for upwards of 20 minutes before you decide to go to bed. but you just assumed it was a tough case that reminded him of you in some way, which was often the case.
it had been almost half an hour since he went into the bedroom and you were growing concerned. what could he be doing that's taking so much time. giving up on waiting, you decided to head to bed to find him already dead asleep on the bed.
the next day, he continued with the same odd behavior. all you got that morning was a "good morning" before he walked out to the kitchen as opposed to the usual forehead kiss, back hug, and cuddle.
you were about to confront him about the odd behavior when you got a call from penelope.
"hello?" penelope started frantically ranting about jj and spencer until you had to tell her to slow down. "jj said she was in love with reid. now i don't know the legitimacy of her statement because they were in a hostage situation but i talked to spencer and he was panicking saying he didn't know who to choose, i'm sorry." your heart dropped.
"um. ok, thanks for letting me know." hanging up, you paced in the bedroom for a bit thinking about what had happened.
he said he didn't love her anymore.
he said that the feelings were only temporary.
he said he loved you.
she promised she didn't like him that way.
you were too caught up in your thoughts to notice spencer walking into the room asking what was wrong. "when were you going to tell me?" you ask, assuming he knows exactly what you're talking about.
"what do you mean?" is all he says. "you know exactly what i mean spencer, jj saying she loves you? then you go to penelope saying you don't know who to choose? how about.. i don't know, your wife." he stays silent and just looks at the floor.
"say something." again, he just stares at the floor. "come on spencer don't go silent on me now. what the hell happened?"
finally, he looks into your eyes. "i'm sorry." is all he says.
"sorry doesn't do anything right now. did you mean what you said? about not knowing who to choose?" sitting down on the bed he simply looks up at you. "i don't know."

ok so I thought it was weird the way Dorian said "it's not like that" when saying goodbye and the hesitation in robbies voice as he said "I kiss his little forehead" (which I took as Dorian hesitating to do is it) because if there was going to be a confession, that should have been the time.
Then Robbie called Dorian actions before the ball "recloseting"
Dorian WOULD have confessed to Orym then. He WOULD have had a big dramatic goodbye because he's been in love with orym for months.
But his brother was there. He wasn't only saying goodbye his friends. He was saying goodbye to Dorian Storm. For now. He was going back to being Brontë Wyvernwind. Who is severe yet elegant. Subtle and masculine. And probably straight.
So no. There was no confession of love. Because Brontë doesn't love Orym. Brontë is a good spare. Perfectly ready to because heir at any moment, take up all responsibilities of that. He'll wait in the wings and marry a nice girl from court. He'll take care of his brother who can't take care of himself.
Brontë will be thankful for the time he was Dorian. He will be thankful for Orym for showing him how to be a good and strong man, protector. Leader.

Drunk prompt:
Harpies just won the quidditch cup and they’re celebrating at the pub with the all their teammates and their families. Ginny is drunk and starts to tell her family all the naughty things she and Harry got up to as teens and things he does to her that drives her insane.
Around 3 AM, the party finally started to die down.
Gwenog left at least two hours ago, claiming that she couldn't keep up with the rest of the team at her age. The Harpies' keeper and other beater left together around 2, arms wrapped around one another, not at all hiding what their after-party plans were.
On the other hand, Ginny and the other two chasers were not letting the party quietly end.
"Another round of shots?" Ginny hollered from atop the bar. The crowd cheered as the bartender poured glittering alcohol into shot glasses.
"Let's get you down from there," Harry said, extending a hand to his girlfriend. Ginny ignored the hand and jumped down, only slightly stumbling as she landed.
"Dear Merlin, save her," Harry muttered to the sky.
"I'm fine!" Ginny reassured Harry, "I'm a fucking champion, and champions don't get hurt."
"Come on, Champion, let's get you to a table." Harry paused and added, "A table that you can sit at."
Ginny pouted, but allowed herself to be drug to a back table where Ron, George, and Hermione were sitting at.
"Is that a UK Quidditch champion walking toward us?" George shouted.
Ginny twirled before taking a bow, "It is. It is. You are welcome for blessing your presence with a champion." Ginny gasped, "I should get a crown!"
"You should get some water," Harry said.
Ginny waved him off, "So what are we chatting about?"
Hermione started to pour a glass of water from the pitcher sitting on the table, "We were talking about Hogwarts, and all the various rules we broke. Here. Water." Hermione passed the glass of water to Ginny.
"Ooh gilly-water! Thanks!"
Hermione did not correct her.
"George was saying how he used to sneak out to the Quidditch field to hook up with this Ravenclaw girl," Ron said.
"I mean, who hasn't," Ginny said.
"What do you mean who hasn't?" Ron asked.
"Wait, does that mean you haven't?" Ginny asked back. "I just assumed everyone did. Especially Quidditch players. Harry and I did it several times." Ginny took a swig of her water. "Ew. I thought you said this was gilly-water."
Ron turned his full body to Ginny, "What do you mean you snuck out?"
"We snuck out to hook up, I thought what I said was pretty clear," Ginny replied.
"Gin," Harry interrupted.
Ginny ignored Harry's interruption.
"So if you didn't sneak out to the Quidditch fields where did you go? The Room of Requirement was also a staple. Actually, fun fact, it is where I took Harry's virginity," Ginny swirled her glass of water, and took another sip. "Still not gilly-water."
Hermione grabbed onto Ginny's wrist, "Ginny, maybe you should stop-"
"Okay, to be fair, he also took my virginity, but it isn't as fun to say that."
Ron glared at Harry while George threw his head back and laughed.
"Okay Ginny, maybe it's time to go home," Harry said, but not loud enough.
"If it's not the Room of Requirement, during lunch, we would have picnics by the Lake. And lunch was not the only thing Harry was eating, if you're catching my drift." Ginny winked at Hermione.
"Okay on that note, I will be taking our champion home!" Harry said, finally successfully interrupting Ginny. "We will see everyone later!"
Harry grabbed Ginny's hand and her water and pulled her out the door.
"Aw, Harry, I was still having fun," Ginny pouted.
Harry pulled her to the side at the apparition point. "I will eat you out at home, I promise."

Recently I’ve been watching almost nothing but indie cartoon shows and there’s something I wanna talk about on that front. I really enjoy how slow every episode release is. That may sound weird cuz like, why would you want to wait so long for the story to continue? Honestly with how readily available shows are to binge in one sitting nowadays it makes me feel like I cant thoroughly enjoy it.
When a show’s whole season drops you have to get through it as soon as possible or risk being spoiled. You more likely than not have to finish it before talking with friends, and that leaves no room for “OMG WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS NEXT”. We know how it ends already :,)
Frankly I’d rather wait months for episodes to come out and actually experience the community around the show grow rather than the whole thing be done in one week.

M so small right now I just want to be squished between Kaeya and Ajax while they praise me :(( imagine Kaeya standing in front of you with his hands on your waist, smiling down at you while Childe is behind you with his hands on your shoulders, leaning over and whispering praises into your ear so you can feel his hot breath against you :(( They’re both so tall and so warm and so close to you and the way Kaeya gently squeezes your waist makes you lightheaded :(( You can feel Ajax slowly press his body closer and closer to yours, until you have no choice but to inch closer to Kaeya, your face dangerously close to his pretty chest :((

so today at work i was in a meeting where we were designing a new product based on stuff we already do. pretty chill. pretty normal.
BUT it got brought up that our customers (who then sell to end users) DONT WANT the version of the product that lasts for years and uses less resources and causes less waste on our beloved planet AND saves the end user money.
DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY???
WHY????
because then our customers (the distributors) would have less stuff to sell, and they’d make less money. they WANT that resale value, to the point where they’d reject the superior product EVEN THOUGH END USERS ACTUALLY WANT TO BUY THE BETTER PRODUCT. the resalers only want the 1 year version instead of the superior 3-5 year version.
and us as the manufacturer? we have to concede if we want to stay in business and keep food on the table. we literally don’t have a choice in this anymore.
and as somebody who works on one side but then is a consumer on the other side? it breaks my heart. it breaks my fucking heart.
i don’t know how to fix this state of the world, or what to do from here. but maybe for now i’ll hold onto hope.
the hope that those of us who care can find a way. to keep buying the better product wherever we can find it, whenever we can afford it. to keep making a difference wherever we can. to build up to where those distributors—my company’s customers—have to buy the better product again.

Penacony and Great Gatsby: Character Connections and Inter-textual Reflections
So Penacony, the new region in HSR, a place based off of America- notably the Roaring 20s- with plenty of callbacks to classic art deco architecture in New York, while also having the “party life” of Las Vegas. With such an image, most people can help but connect it to the Great Gatsby, what is sometimes referred to as “The American Novel”.
Knowing Mihoyo and their love for literary references (ie: Pride and Prejudice for Haitham’s character quest, Franz Kafka’s works and themes for HSR character Kafka), it doesn’t come at a surprise that they would also make references to the Great Gatsby, even if it might come on-the-nose considering the setting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, to confirm that mihoyo actively references the Great Gatsby in Penacony, we can look at Dr. Edward, which is. quite a blatant reference to Dr. TJ Eckleburg. Now comparing the two pictures, we see both of them share “Dr” in their names, theyre both floating blue eyeballs, and they’re both omniscient in both of their settings.
Dr. Edward is a device used for people to experience various dreams, he aids people to have a smooth experience, and never interferes with the contents of the dream itself, nor does he offer any particular opinions. He is a neutral body, that also has a responsibility of looking over and adding new “dreams”, seen by how he recommends a dream to the trailblazer in a side quest, showing us that he also a viewer.
Now, the billboard of Dr TJ Eckleburg functions in a similar way as a theme in the Great Gatsby, but on a much grander scale, as the common interpretation of Dr TJ Eckleburg is “it” being the “eyes of God”. Eckleburg is there as a constant figure viewing some of the most key moments in Gatsby’s story, and is also sometimes seen as a “judge”.
Now, the aspect of being a “judge” leads us to the character reflections of both Sunday and Aventurine.
Tumblr media
Now why these two?
Let’s look at Dr. TJ Eckleburg again, but this time, at a line from the novel.
Tumblr media
This line describes Eckleburg’s appearance, two large blue eyeballs with yellow spectacles. Two characters who carry these traits, and the only characters, are Sunday and Aventurine.
Let’s first look at Sunday, he has some noticeable blue-purple gem pendants- pendants that happen to be a similar color to Dr. Edward’s iris, who we have already established to be a direct reference to Eckleburg. (tbh could be a stretch they looked more similar in my head but now putting them side be side its a bit….)
Some close-ups:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, this wouldn’t really stand out as much, if Sunday didn’t also have eyes all over his clothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Therefore, we can establish that he plays a similar role to Dr. Edward as an overseer and viewer, which is already apparent at the end of the 2.0 Penacony quest where he talks about the events that have transpired thus far- making the viewer know that Sunday is aware of everything going on.
Moreover, how does he tie into Dr. Eckleburg specifically? Well, in the same scene he talks about exacting “righteous justice” when all is said and done, like a benevolent figure, which is aligns with his outward appearance as an angel, or could even be seen as an act of “God”- who Dr. Eckleburg represents.
As a result, this strengthens Sunday’s whole image as a biblical figure, and also can lead us to see how he views himself- as a viewer, judger, and exacter of justice, just like God. Of course you don’t need a whole Gatsby reference to get this, but it just goes to show the amount of layers mihoyo puts into the story.
(And we know that character clothing can hold spoilers because of. Childe from genshin impact who was described as a “walking spoiler” and “hard to design” because the devs were afraid of giving too much away.)
Now onto Aventurine, he completes the other part of Dr. TJ Eckleburg’s description- yellow spectacles.
Tumblr media
This connection is harder to decipher, because rather than Dr. Eckleburg, Aventurine is more like Gatsby, with his rags-to-riches story and past. Moreover, just because he has “yellow” (actually gold) spectacles, doesn’t mean that it’s an intentional choice to show a literary reference, since it could also be a simple design choice.
But then comes the question, why even have him wear glasses to begin with? After all, most of the time he is seen without them, as with his hat. Of course, you could say it’s the dev’s idea as a way to tint his eyes, as to not signal to others of his race, but Aventurine doesn’t seem like the type to be bothered by these kind of happenings. An example of this would be the way he reacts to Sparkle’s very racist remarks, rather aloof and brushes them off quickly.
Tumblr media
So, after looking at this, we can conclude that we don’t really know why he has glasses other than to look cool in some scenes- which again, could signify a design choice, but hey! that’s not confirmed! so we’re going with my outlook as a reference to gatsby
Plus, there’s a still a lot of comparisons we can make here about the figure of a “judge” and Aventurine as a “gambler”.
He’s the type to go all in because he has nothing (leaked character stories) and because he wants to win. That is a basic description of him, and that is what also leads to him being a viewer, that also acts like a “God” in his orchestration of events and allies to get the Trailblazer on his side- shown with Black Swan’s “betrayal”.
I’m kind of going on a tangent here and saying things most players probably already know, but what I’m trying to get at is that Sunday and Aventurine represent the two “gods” at play in the story, despite some lines giving the idea that they might lie on the same side with Aventurine having “meetings” with the Family, and also Sunday seeming to have no ill-will by the way he speaks about the guests of the Watchmaker, some of whom are currently Aventurine’s allies.
There’s a lot of unknowns, as well as a lot of red-herrings that make things seem as if we’re all going to team together against Acheon, a figure of doom, or perhaps it’s going to be faction against faction, with numerous groups at play.
But with the assignment of roles, Aventurine and Sunday seem to hold the highest control as Dr Eckleburg- as God- which leads me to believe that that is how the quest will play out in the end.
Additional info, but if we’re looking at other Gatsby characters in Penacony, then Firefly and Robin would represent Myrtle and Gatsby respectively. (coincidence how there’s two deaths so far that align with the great gaysby?) Firefly is Myrtle because of the way she seeks out the Trailblazer for aid went caught by the Bloodhounds, a bit like how Myrtle seeks out Tom to alleviate herself from her unfortunate circumstances and lower-class standing. Robin is Gatsby because it doesn’t really make sense for her to be Myrtle, and also she holds out a glass in the car clip like Gatsby.
Now who would be Daisy? What about Nick? I personally think that the Trailblazer could represent Daisy, the way everyone seems to be chasing after them, though that’s more of a loose assumption. And then, I think Acheon is Nick, the actual witness of the whole tale, because she seems to be the only one to have a sense of what might happen in the story, from her dialogue to the ominous quest prologue. There’s also the idea of her being “traumatized” or longing for the trailblazer in the prologue too, if the time loop theory is right.
There’s also other references for Gatsby in the quest, like how the Great Gatsby starts off in the present with Nick narrating the events of a “horrible” story that left him traumatized, and how the prologue of the quest acts in a similar way of foreboding a tale full of misfortune, but mihoyo traumatizes us instead.

frank x ana/joey ramble
sooooooo. i watched 'Abigail' (great movie, i recommend if u like a tiny vampire child murder a group of adults and a bunch of chaos :D) and i've been thinking of a tiny thought of the ending, or at least the near ending with frank attempting to turn joey/ana into a vampire and mind control her (practically foaming at the mouth pls--)
so here's me rambling about the end i wished was real, or at least a thought concept;
❝ Frank's successful in turning Joey into a vampire. (i always liked to think the two had some sort of chemistry together in a sort of enemies and lovers type shit bc the looks they be giving each other. like how when lambert had joey by her neck and she's looking at frank to not give in, help her, and then the look frank gives her as he's thinking about what she's thinking but decides to say fuck it and just go on and let himself be born anew).
The wounds Frank created, that little stab on her shoulder, the bite on her neck. They fade, her skin is free of any sort of blemishes. She's convulsing slightly as she tries to breathe. (if this WAS the ending, i'd like to think Frank thought he fucked up something somehow. like shit, was he supposed to just bite her longer or something? y'know a silent inner panic that's only shown in his eyes as he leans down to her, nudging her convulsing body with her foot as she looks at him with fear in her eyes. something along the lines of a plead for help because she can't get air into her lungs and the little air she is getting she's calling out for his name and maybe a 'help' here and there).
His voice echoes into her mind. "Joey." is all he'd say in her mind until she finally stops. When she stops, her eyes are reflective like a mirror. Pretty, Frank would think. Gorgeous, is when he sees that her mind is blank. (Frank has a God Complex i'm pretty sure bc he's controlling and dominant and somewhat of an asshole when he wants power, so when he sees Ana pretty much mindless, i'd like to think he's into that because even though -- and pls have me be delusional when i think this -- he has a SLIGHT and when i say SLIGHT i mean it's like... a tiny dot like a kidney stone of a soft spot for her bc hell, she saved his ass and pretty much stayed with him throughout this shitty night).
"You're mine." Joey would have her morals twisted, her personality is slightly the same as Frank's except she doesn't have his God Complex (if he does have one, may i add) but she views him as a God. He gave her new life, her mind is empty. She understands that this is wrong, to all Gods this is fucked up to the third degree, but she doesn't care because it feels good. It's wrong, but it's right in her now messy, mindbroken mentality. (i have a headcanon when Sammy was turned into a puppet for Abigail, she seemed more into doing what Abigail wants. which is to kill everyone, which is the reason why she lured Joey and Frank there. yeah, she's under Abigail's control, but like, she's also fixated on Abigail because Abigail is her God(dess) and she wants to serve her. so basically; turned into a vampire puppet, be mindless, still have your form of identity and personality. they're just twisted).
Frank gets Joey to kill Abigail. "Frank says, kill her." And for the sake of simplicity because Istg these people forgot her dad was coming, they got out before Kristoff came. Joey's stuck being under Frank's control, but it's not like she cares at this point because it's so much more better than the shit she was before. ❞
im still mad that this didn't happen but eh. the endings still cool tho.

headcanon that todd is a fucking master at the self checkout at the grocery store because he hates talking to people (social anxiety be like that), so he knows all the tips and tricks, and actually helps elders when they're struggling with the stupid machines that do nothing but scream about unauthorized items in the bagging area. the elderly are actually really nice, and they usually appreciate the help because they go to self checkout to try and get out of the store faster, but it takes so much longer. he actually befriended a few of them. neil, during one of his shifts at his minimum wage job at the grocery store, notices the guy around his age that will start to use the self checkout, see someone struggling, shyly offer his assistance, and scan nearly everything in half the time. he sees him come in again during one of his other shifts, and then again, and again. and at one point, neil decides he’s had enough of just staring at the guy, and he walks up to him, while helping someone, and taps him on the shoulder. the guy turns around and neil thought he saw the self checkout guy’s soul leave his body. the dude was literally shaking apart at the seams as neil talked to him, asking him who he was, just honestly trying to be nice, until his little radio came on and he had to go help somewhere else. neil approached todd again and again, until soon enough todd stopped shaking, and started to open up.

Also!!! That ending in the prison with Tommy and Dream-
In no way does Dream taking off his mask and asking if it's too late, him showing some humanity, ever an excuse to the horrendous steps he took for his grasp for what he had in the beginning.
His actions for his twisted sense of righteousness and his desperate want for everyone to be together- yeah unredeemable. He dug himself a pit, and he kept digging.
That was not a redemption, that was not Tommy forgiving him for the hell Dream put him through. Tommy didn't forgive Dream by asking him to reconsider. It's as if they reached this understanding finally. The mortar and the minotaur. On the same level, eye to eye for the first time.
That ending was not a redemption of Dreams character in the last few seconds.
It's the glimpse at the corrupted monster showing a glimpse of what could have been.
How symbolic that he took off his mask, how he showed a bit of humanity before it all went to void.
These characters are so deeply layered, to look at it so one dimensionally and hate the ending cause you believe it was trying to make Dream a person to forgive- I cannot fathom it.
"it just got so complicated" paraphrasing by my god what a line. To see the villain as who he once was. To see how far from grace he has fallen AND from his own hubris too.
I've always been fascinated by Dreams character but from a far.
The hero turned into the villain, what a complicated role in the story he has weaved. The master puppet fallen to his own strings, wrapped in a web of his own making.
I've lost the original point, but that ending did not make him redeemable.

okay so i saw a post that said something along the lines of ‘keefe flirted w sophie while she had a boyfriend’ and i have a lot to say abt that
it was a really long post btw and thats the only statement in it that i strongly disagree with / have strong opinions about so i guess thats why its been stuck on my head for a while BUT GOIG ON
first i wanna point out — sophie and fitz werent officially dating, and currently neither is keefe and sophie but lets ignore that keefe felt that they were, so he was SO WRONG for continuing to flirt with her, but they never were officially dating. it was like, the space between dating and friends, the ‘i love you and im gonna show you because you love me too but im not gonna do so if you dont want to / it makes you uncomfortable’ because that was how it was. that was how the relationship was. remember, sophie was only pressured about the matchmaking thing. she did like fitz. just because she liked keefe (and didnt know it btw) doesnt change the fact that she did in fact like fitz. just because she only liked fitz romantically in her head doesnt change the fact that she felt something for him. sophie loves fitz, she still does, and we thought it was romantic, but its only platonic. that’s sorted out now.
second, sophie grew up focused on the fact that she can read minds, and when she got to the lost cities the first thing she had to think about was staying there, was fitting in. shes so focused on staying alive and other stuff that she doesnt have space in her brain to fully focus on how keefe was flirting w her while she was w fitz
(this argument/information does not go with keefe. keefe is canonly flirty, and he knows damn well hes attractive. i wanna note that the first time we met alvar, he mentioned juggling three girlfriends and keefe told him he idolised him after that sentence)
anyway continuing on the second thing. you know that keefe does it w everyone, all of his friends, so its really unsurprising that she brushed it off as nothing because hey thats just how keefe is dont mind him.
thirdly, keefe isnt fully to blame. sophie holds his hand, hugs him, kisses his cheeks. she sees it as something friends do, it is something that friends do. but in their case (keefe liking sophie) its an eyebrow raiser. but at the same time sophie is oblivious as hell — and though thats not a completely valid reason or excuse, it does kinda explain how she doesnt bat an eye about it.
these are kids, teenagers. one is a flirtatious, comedic fuck with horrible parental trauma, one is too focused on staying alive to completely fully sort out her feelings and/or look in too deep about her relationships. they dont know everything about what theyre doing, they dont have the time to properly do that.

"It appears that you've been cut in half."
"What‽"
"Yes, right in half," The doctor leaned back in his chair, fingers steepled, then falling open like a book "top to your bottom, right down the middle. Must have happened six to eight years ago."
"but... But that... How? In half‽"
"Are you a samurai perhaps? Be honest, there's no judgement here."
"... I... I dabbled after highschool... but not anymore!"
"Did you ever experience a TFE in that time?" The doctor sighed at the blank expression and took to laboriously shining his spectacles as he explained, "A Traumatic Finisher Event? A moment where you, another combatant, or both are suddenly already posed just past each other? Symptoms including things like sheathing without visibly drawing or flashes of light and flower petals."
"A few, but I've always been careful! I stretched my monologue before every fight and I always used plot armour!"
"Well, sometimes plot armour doesn't always work. Did any of your partners ever mention having developed protagonism before or even after you crossed swords?"
"No! Never."
The doctor waited.
"Well..."
"Yes?"
"Well there was one, but... But there was no way, he was just some mysterious transfer student with a dark past and a named sword..."
"Would this be perhaps... Six to eight years ago...?"
"... So Doc, how long do I have?"
"It's hard to say without doing more tests, but most people who experience a TFE split into two gorey slices within the first ten steps, so the fact you've survived this far is a good sign. As long as you minimize your exposure to comic relief and dramatic irony and you won't have to worry about being a late season gag."
"but doctor, I am Pagliacchi!"
