I simply think this fandom doesn't give Wei Wuxian enough credit for the various ways in which he saved Lan Wangji

#mdzs #mo dao zu shi #wangxian #idk man- i just see a lot of “Lan Wangji has always been protecting Wei Wuxian” posts and its like...#I mean... Lan Wangji has always certainly been trying to protect Wei Wuxian #it took him a long time to figure how to successfully do that though #rereading the books rn and noticing theres a lot of instances that could be read as lwj being frustrated over his inability to protect wwx #like he seemed ready to cry when wwx went missing for a while and then came back with the cursed leg #lwj has always been great at protecting wwx from physical threats (ex: waterborn abyss) but had no idea how to protect him from himself #meanwhile wwx has always been instictually good at saving lwj from both #like I'm 100% lwj would've become like Jiang Cheng if wwx hadn't snapped him out of the blindly following authority thing #and also like... 15 y/o lwj wasnt happy with his life. he was lonely and stressed and literally signing up to be flogged whenever he goofed #wwx is who allowed lwj to grow up by showing him what it was like to actually be a kid (shown in story whenever lwj gets drunk)#he led lwj to having a more flexible mindset. and it both let lwj relax and set lwj up to be a better parent #looking into lwj's dynamic with the juniors- he lets them break a fuck ton of the petty rules and encourages them to question authority #he also teaches them to not be married to any one meathod of problem solving #wwx is also able to save lwj from his own stubbornness #ex: carrying lwj when he broke his leg. getting lwj to cough up bad blood. getting lwj to keep the rabbits #wwx also tends to give lwj the words he has trouble saying himself. helps him communicate #wwx also protects lwj in fights a lot but thats narratively less important #except the various times wwx puts himself in danger to help lwj. those times are what made it so lwj could never move on from wwx #like with the cave incident #or when wwx helped surpress the arm instead of using the chaos to escape cloud recesses #tldr i guess: i think this fandom tends to treat lwj being the best like its natural to him when really wwx accidentaly rewired his brain #I'm looking directly at fanfic writers who act like the Lans would've treated wwx better than the Jiangs #lwj had to do so much work and self reflection post meeting wwx to be the way he is. he is not the sole product of the Lan teachings

My critique of WH is also not that the narrator seems to have such a biased, strange inner moral code/ sense of justice, that really would only make sense to him, that really only reflects his own emotional truth (I think many people have that); it’s that everyone around him reflects this in a way that feels … unrealistic.

#How convenient and transparent is it #that in the opening chapter of tmatl #outside and ‘objective’ characters affirm his view #that Norris was arrogant and no ‘true’ gentleman #but that Wyatt was #the person he destroyed vs the person he spared #esp bcus there is really no contemporary source that spoke ill of Norris #Besides George I would say that his was the accusation #that most were recorded as not believing #because it didn’t reflect what they knew of his character and reputation #the whole inciting incident being a masque that dances on Wolsey’s grave being part of that … odd moral code #I mean despite the other suggestions in the text Cromwell was ; as my friend said #so singular and unique #he really seems to have one thing in common with many others — blaming those of ‘evil influence’ > Henry himself #who was the only one that ordered wolsey’s actual arrest #despite what his personal misgivings might have been or not been

every time i think a bit more about cobs and 3gs i can feel myself losing it a little bit more

ITS ALMOST IN THE FIVE IN THE MORNING.#ive been thinking so much about how cobs n 3gs' relationship might've been #i think that all the mephone models had a slightly different dynamic with cobs . he kept different methods of teaching if you will #imagined cobs took a more authoritarian approach with 3gs . 3gs saw him as a leader whom to take commands from #obviously this reflected onto him and I guess at some point cobs deemed him fit enough to go on missions in space #3gs would be so proud to lead a team of his own . especially an investigation that was so clearly important to cobs #and then theres the total failure. he came home with nothing and (presumably) everyone dead #(ok im under the very stupid and unplausible belief that 3gs DID get the other egg. and thats where cobs got the technology to make melife #teleportation and portal creation to work on his creations BUT I DONT WANNA GET INTO IT THATS A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS)#3gs ends up abandoned in a storage closet . whatever defects and errors that 3gs developed after the shimmer incident must've left him +#useless to cobs . whom didn't even bother properly powering him down at least. ok man.#after 4 i assume the cycle rinses and repeats itself with every single model coming after #im sso sleepy #holy SHIT that was a lot. sorry #i love making shit up about minor characters man #sorry #bonks thinkpan #inanimate insanity #I guess

Joonghyuk aggressively texting Dokja to come back and pick up their his damn kid is just so funny to me. 😂

Of course, Joonghyuk aggressively texting Dokja is hilarious in general because you know he's absolutely furious thinking Dokja is gleefully ignoring him when in reality Dokja hasn't been paying any attention at all ...which will also annoy Joonghyuk when he finds out.

"But why did you suddenly disappear?"

Joonghyuk, my guy, you are the one who told Dokja to get lost right after you left him. With some not very nice parting words, I might add. Dokja genuinely didn't even think you'd save Biyoo if he was the one who asked you to do it and that's why he sent Uriel in his place.

I realize that guy just kinda rams straight through your wishes 99% of the time and generally side-steps any anger you direct at him with a cheeky grin, but you gotta be prepared for that 1% chance he actually listens.

i really don't think people understand how entertaining it is writing characters you completely disagree with. or being invested in a story you understand but think is fallible on a philosophical level. it's genuinely fun to dig into these different perspectives and the reasoning of why...

#i have some criticism of ytd. sure. but none of that is based on the fact i see the AIs as purely replicas #i actually enjoy how far it goes to attempt to blur the lines of humanity. even if i find my answer to be unchanged #and. well. you know me. i love dissecting how characters once were in the past. the AIs reflect that as well & create conflict of #the past - one that wouldn't be possible with the present development of a character. which would also bring into question #if now knowing this and being hurt by this should impact your view of the present person. or if - consider you hadn't known this person #at all; or the human self has died - would you still allow your perspective or memory to be shaped by the past AI #it's cool seeing how ytd ties the yakuza into the science field here. particularly embodying its grief; catalyst the hades incident #but i digress. if this makes no sense forgive me for i am so sleepy. so so sleepy. goodbye world #jestersvaguely #yttdposting #for da tags

I know @istadris proooobably meant Mr. L masks his true character under a mean, tough guy act to protect himself from further pain in their Missing Half AU buuuut.

I can't quite separate Mr. L from his iconic mask.

#dumb doodles #i think. having an actual mask covering half his face would help luigi keep up his Mr. L persona #and help him....seperate who he used to be vs who he is now #and i dunno; make it easier to look at himself in a mirror?#like. i imagine that'd be hard; to grow up looking at your reflection and know that the /physical/ reflection; your /twin/#is gone /because of you/ (even if it's not; whatever happened; i'm pretty sure it was way way out of the hands of two kids)#(and the only people at fault are the group that attacked a couple kids snd killed one of them)#i mean; the fact he's so bitter and angry and constantly calls himself a coward in the first part #makes me think L doesn't really. like himself. or at the very least 'Luigi' because 'he abandoned his brother'#despite being like. a literal child at the time of The Incident #so it's easier to be 'Mr. L' over 'Luigi' up until he lands in the Mushroom Kingdom and meets an alternate version of his brother #i like to think Dr. Mario helps him drop some of his walls; relax; and reclaim some of his past self #pretty sure L does the same for Doc but i think i need to rotate them around in my mind a bit more to get a better idea of Doc
