I鈥檓 actually quite curious to see where y鈥檃ll stand on this. There鈥檚 already been evidence of Ultrakill machines expressing signs of sentience (I.e mindflayers with their aesthetics, V2 with its hatred towards its predecessor), so I was interested to see what everyone else鈥檚 thoughts are in regards to V1 itself.

Everyone scandalized about Chilchuck being thirsted over, a character who is objectively 29, which is 40+ in human years, who has 3 grown daughters and a divorce, just because of how he's drawn, you have my biggest congratulations. I truly did not think the complex physiological system of a human body could be managed by a creature with not one singular brain cell. How you managed to stagger over to the computer and bash your skull against the keyboard with enough accuracy to post remains a further mystery. I am going to put you in a maze filled with buzzsaw goblins and will use the results to write a second PhD thesis.

Where is the money that this supposedly revolutionary, world-changing industry is making, and will make? The answer is simple: I do not believe it exists. Generative AI lacks the basic unit economics, product-market fit, or market penetration associated with any meaningful software boom, and outside of OpenAI, the industry may be pathetically, hopelessly small, all while providing few meaningful business returns and聽constantly losing money.
Ed Zitron is at it again.
So, OpenAI lost five billion dollars last year, and the rest of the market is also in the red. Google already limits the number of heavily hardware-taxing voice summaries for NotebookLM to three per day unless you're a paid customer, something that's harder to bypass than the limitation of generating human characters by Gemini/Imagen.
There are many uncomfortable questions to ask here, starting with "why are they allowed to lose borderline unspendable amounts of money?" To put the five-billion figure into perspective: this is roughly as much as the European Union funding approved for Poland for the entirety of 2025. The kind of money a medium-sized European country can't afford to blow on bullshit. And it's by far not the biggest figure AI corporations are throwing around.

A poignant scene from Terminator 2...
And a possible insight into why some people have a leaning towards forming personal bonds with an AI. And this was a movie from 1991...

BITCHES FROM ALDERAAN AND CHANDRILLA WHO HAVE BEEN ON THIS PLANET FOR A VERY LONG TIME ARE BEING MANIPULATED BY OTHERS IN MANY WAYS INCLUDING THROUGH INFORMATION MANIPULATION SUCH AS PROVIDING INCORRECT DATA, WHICH IS EASIER BECAUSE BITCHES LIKE THEM DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO DEVICES ON THIS PLANET. CRIMINALS WANT TO KEEP THE BITCHES FROM ALDERAAN AND CHANDRILLA HERE TO USE THEM AND WE WANT THEM TO LEAVE THIS PLANET IMMEDIATELY.

actually i know i just said essay writing is my one greatest skill and i DO have the academic record to prove it but it's incredible how as soon as i'm removed from the academic environment i feel like i'll never be able to string two intelligent thoughts together coherently ever again
