What does a top student's study schedule look like?
Just remember these 3 points and you’ll be a top student pretty soon!
Don’t binge study
Don’t just study for 4 hours straight, It doesn’t do much, what I’ve found works best is studying in short intervals, with something fun in between. For example: here’s a picture of my schedule for a day before a test: (It was a PA Day)

Each block in my schedule is 15 minutes, and in this Schedule I see 8 blocks for My bio test, which means I got in about 2 hours of studying. I also got:
1 Hour 15 minutes of Card Magic practice
1 Hour 15 minutes of work on my diary project for History
1 Hour of work on my current events project
1 Hour of work on my art project
1/2 hour of work on my personal essay project
1/2 hour of typing practice
and a quick run! I was also out between 9 and 4, and still managed to do a ton of work, of which a lot was for fun!
A reason I like short sessions, is because:
You can stay focused
You can convince yourself to start much more easily
You can remember better
The last point might be confusing so let me help out a little:
You remember best the beginning, and the end of things, which means, the more times you start and stop something, the better you will remember it.
2. Add fun stuff
I know I kind of talked about it here, but I need to emphasize, that binging doesn’t help memory, and it doesn’t help mood, and for that, add some fun stuff to the schedule!
3. It’s spaced out
Notice it’s not just study, play, study, play, repeat? That’s for a reason.
Studies have shown that there should be a lot of time between study sessions, to allow for the best memory recovery, which means, that if you study, play study, your mind may not have enough time in between to full recover.
Think of it like a muscle. You’re not going to do an exercise in 15 seconds, than wait 15 seconds ,and do another…
Wait around 2–3 times the session length between sessions and you’ll be fine.

✧˖° studying without suffering: how to actually enjoy learning (yes, it’s possible)





✧˖° let’s talk.
hey angels, it's mindy!
most people treat studying like a punishment. something to be endured, not enjoyed. it’s that thing you force yourself to do, like taking bitter medicine or running a mile in gym class. but what if that’s the reason you struggle with it?
the secret? you were never meant to hate learning.
somewhere along the way, school made it boring. maybe you had teachers who sucked the fun out of it. maybe you associate studying with stress, deadlines, and exhaustion. but learning is supposed to be exciting. when you actually enjoy it, everything changes. you focus longer, retain more, and (ironically) spend less time studying because your brain actually absorbs the information.
so, let’s fix it. let’s make studying something you want to do instead of something you suffer through.
✧˖° ➼ step 1: detach learning from school
(school & learning are not the same thing. stop letting school ruin your curiosity.)
the first mindset shift? realize that school does not own learning.
➼ school is about structure, deadlines, and tests. it’s designed to measure performance. ➼ learning is about curiosity, deep thinking, and exploration. it’s designed to expand your mind. and help you grow as a person.
if you’ve only ever studied because you had to, your brain associates it with pressure. break that pattern. find something outside of school that you actually like learning about. philosophy, psychology, art history, neuroscience, fashion design, whatever makes you curious.
even if it’s unrelated to your classes, it rewires your brain to see learning as an intrinsic activity, not just an obligation. once you enjoy learning in general, you can transfer that energy back into your studies.
✧˖° ➼ step 2: romanticize the process (but actually make it feel good)
("romanticizing studying" doesn’t mean just buying cute stationery. let’s go deeper.)
sensory association is everything. your brain links experiences to the way they feel physically. so if studying feels uncomfortable, you’ll avoid it. the solution? make it a luxurious experience for your senses.
✧ visuals → clean, minimalist desk, soft lighting, aesthetic study materials ✧ sound → rain sounds, classical piano, lo-fi beats (music that enhances focus) ✧ touch → cozy blankets, warm tea, smooth pens gliding over paper ✧ scent → vanilla candles, fresh coffee, the pages of an old book
this isn’t just about aesthetics. it’s neuroscience. when studying feels pleasurable, your brain stops resisting it.
✧˖° ➼ step 3: use high-dopamine study techniques
(forcing yourself to study the “normal” way is why you hate it.)
some study methods are literally designed to be boring. ditch them.
instead, try:
➼ blurting method: instead of passively reading, close your book and write down everything you remember. then check what you missed. (way more engaging than just re-reading notes.) ➼ dual-coding: mix visuals with text. draw tiny sketches next to your notes. turn concepts into mind maps. watch a video explaining a topic right after reading about it. ➼ pomodoro stacking: instead of the typical 25-minute study sprints, customize it. (ex: 50 min deep focus + 10 min break with an actual reward.) ➼ interleaving technique: mix subjects instead of block studying. it forces your brain to stay engaged.
stop making studying harder than it needs to be. find what works for you, and your brain will stop fighting it.
✧˖° ➼ step 4: make studying social (but in a smart way)
(because you’re not supposed to do this alone.)
studying alone for hours? miserable. but studying with others who are just as serious as you? instant motivation boost.
but instead of chaotic group study sessions where no one gets anything done, try:
✧ parallel studying: hop on facetime or join a study livestream. silent, focused, but together. ✧ teaching method: explain concepts to a friend. if you can teach it, you truly understand it. ✧ study accountability: check in with someone daily. send each other your study goals, no excuses.
even just knowing someone else is studying at the same time can trick your brain into feeling more engaged.
✧˖° ➼ step 5: shift your identity
("i hate studying" isn’t a personality trait. it’s a mindset problem.)
if you keep saying “i hate studying,” your brain will never enjoy it. change the narrative.
➼ instead of “i suck at studying,” try → “i’m learning how to study in a way that works for me.” ➼ instead of “i can’t focus,” try → “i’m training my brain to focus longer every day.” ➼ instead of “i don’t feel like it,” try → “i’m someone who gets things done, whether i feel like it or not.”
become the type of person who enjoys learning. once that becomes your identity, everything else follows.
✧˖° ➼ step 6: create emotional attachment to your goals
motivation dies when your goals feel distant and impersonal. if you’re studying just because you “have to,” it’s easy to procrastinate. but if you link it to something deeply personal, it becomes non-negotiable.
try this: visualize your future self. imagine the version of you who already achieved everything you want. who is she? what does she do? how does she study?
then, make it emotional. ✧ if you dream of getting into your dream school, print pictures of it. make a vision board. ✧ if you want financial freedom, imagine the luxury of never stressing over money. ✧ if you want to be respected in your field, remind yourself that your knowledge is your power.
when you make studying personal, it stops being a chore. it becomes a commitment.
✧˖° ➼ step 7: stop making everything harder than it needs to be
(struggling doesn’t mean you’re working harder. it just means you’re struggling.)
too many people study inefficiently because they think suffering = productivity. but studying smarter is always better than studying longer.
some ways to make it easier on yourself: ➼ use study apps → quizlet, pomdoro apps for focus, notion for organization ➼ summarize like you’re texting a friend → rewrite notes in your own words, no unnecessary fluff ➼ study in “levels” → don’t jump straight into deep studying. warm up with light review, then increase intensity ➼ take advantage of spaced repetition → stop cramming, your brain retains more when you review over time
efficiency = less stress, better results. don’t work harder than necessary.
✧˖° ➼ step 8: replace toxic productivity with high-performance habits
studying 10 hours in one night ≠ academic excellence. true high-achievers prioritize sustainability.
➼ quit glorifying exhaustion. taking breaks improves focus. it’s not laziness. ➼ learn when to walk away. if you’re zoning out, step away. 10 minutes of real focus > 2 hours of fake studying. ➼ protect your sleep. all-nighters don’t make you hardcore, they make you ineffective. your brain processes info while you sleep.
the goal isn’t to study the longest. it’s to study in a way that keeps your mind sharp and focused.
✧˖° ➼ step 9: master the “dopamine pull” method
instead of forcing motivation, use dopamine to your advantage.
➼ habit stacking → pair studying with something enjoyable (ex: study while drinking your favorite matcha) ➼ mini rewards → after finishing a chapter, reward yourself with something small but satisfying ➼ gamification → track progress like a video game. every completed task = a “level up”
your brain loves dopamine. give it reasons to associate studying with good feelings.
✧˖° ➼ step 10: let go of perfectionism (but keep high standards)
perfectionism leads to procrastination and burnout. instead of striving for flawless, aim for consistent excellence.
✧ done is better than perfect. stop rewriting notes 5 times. ✧ progress is the goal. each study session should move you forward, even if it’s small. ✧ your worth is not your grades. strive for success, but don’t let school define you.
when you release perfectionism, you actually start achieving more. keep your standards high, but don’t let them paralyze you.
✧˖° mindy’s personal tips
(things that helped me romanticize studying & actually make it enjoyable:)
➼ set a 5-minute timer. just start. most of the time, your brain stops resisting once you begin. ➼ don’t let study guilt ruin your breaks. rest is productive. ➼ have a “study fit.” i swear, dressing up just a little makes a difference. ➼ invest in one high-quality pen. something that glides effortlessly. small detail, huge difference. ➼ study in cafés, libraries, parks. switch locations to keep it interesting. ➼ make it ✧ cozy ✧. fuzzy socks, oversized sweaters, soft blankets. your comfort matters.
✧˖° homework: rewire your study experience
➼ for one of your study sessions this week, try at least two of the techniques above. ➼ write a short journal entry: how do you want to feel while studying? how can you make that happen? ➼ change just one thing about your study setup that makes it more enjoyable.

Azriel x reader: Drabble

He finds her huddled on the floor, collapsed in front of the fireplace atop a furred rug.
The coals are a dark red, broody and dying, simmering with slowly declining heat while the flames finish their meal.
Her arms quake around her shoulders, ankles crossed tight as her toes tangle together, squeezing herself into an impossibly small shape, head bowed. No energy to make it to bed, so giving out before the fire. At least this time it wasn’t on the kitchen floor—her hip had been aching all through the next day, and had hindered her sleep that night.
Azriel has no need to muffle his steps, he knows she can’t hear him right now, and doesn’t want to startle her. Her heart is thumping loud enough as it is.
Instead his shadows slide forward, softly roving across the rug to slip and tangle with her limbs, gently interleaving themselves with her space. It takes a while, but eventually she’s all wrapped up, and Azriel can move forwards to roll her into his arms, palm cupping her shoulder, fingers dipping beneath the curve of her knee, pressing her side into his chest as he lifts her from the floor and walks her down the corridor to his room.
Tears collect beneath her jaw, and his fingers come away soaked when he tries to dry them.
Shadows pull back the blue, cotton covers, and he wishes his bed were warmer for her. That it was softer, and heated, so she could be comfortable.
Azriel seats her on the mattress, wings tucking in closer as he dips onto one knee, palm wrapping around her ankle while his fingers dip into her sock, guiding it free before repeating with her other foot. His palms slide around her waist, standing her upright, hands taking the skirts of her dress with him as he gets to his feet, shadows loosening the ties at her back so her skin is free and she can breathe. The dress comes easily from over her head, darkness swiftly shifting to move dampened locks from her cheeks.
Her arms gather around his waist, and her head dips against his chest. Her lungs tremble with each inhale, wet lashes shaking with every tremor, lips quivering as sadness seeps deeper into her bones. Azriel pauses, wanting to get her quickly into bed, and wrap her up where she’ll be happier, and warmer, and better able to rest. But he can’t push her away.
Azriel wraps his arm around her upper back, head dipping to gaze down at her muffled form. His palm soothes up and down her spine, putting a firm pressure into her back to remind her where she is, fingers collecting around her upper arm while his thumb strokes back and forth, allowing her to grasp onto the senses.
Slowly, he lifts her into his arms, shadows doing what his hands cannot as they slowly strip him of his clothes, Azriel keeping her tucked to his chest for as long as he can until darkness tugs at the ties of the slat below his wings. Once more, he sets her down on the mattress, this time guiding her to settle herself deep into the dip of the bed—one much larger and deeper than what she would make—and she fills the space he’s created hungrily. Desperately.
Azriel makes quick work of ridding himself of the last few layers before silently moving to the opposite side, and sliding in beside her.
Her feet are icy when she presses them to his bare legs, fingertips like snow-capped fungi as they crawl and search across his chest and shoulders, grasping at his heat as she curves herself into the space he can give her.
Her inhales turn deeper, pulling lungfuls of air down into her body, allowing them to slowly dissipate throughout her bloodstream.
Treasuring each pull of his scent; submerging herself in as much of him as she can.

𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: Cape Borda is a 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 located on the north west tip of 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗼 Island in 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮.
These 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 outcrops of 𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗱, thinly 𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗱 schist𝘄s known as 𝘇𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 due to their 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 of 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 are found in Cape Borda locality of 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘆'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 province of 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗼 Island. A 400 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲 section of this coastline has been designated as a “𝗴𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁” by the 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 of 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮.
𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡, 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 & 𝗔𝗴𝗲:
This rock – called a ‘𝘇𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁’ was 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 by the 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁-𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 marine 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 through being 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 by a 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 over 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 years ago. Schist is a 𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 grade 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 rock. It forms past the 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀 as 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗲-𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲-𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁-𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 of 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 of 𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀. It has 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 to 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲, 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘀 or 𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘁 like 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 which cause itself to show a layering known as 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It is defined by having 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘆 and 𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 minerals (such as 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘀 or 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗰) of more than 50 percent, often finely interleaved with quartz and feldspar.
These 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁 include 𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘀, 𝗰𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗰, 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲, 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲, 𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 and other 𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿 minerals. 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 with medium to large 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 flakes in a 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 sheetlike 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is called 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆.

hi!!! ive been following you for your weaving for a little while now, and the stuff you make is absolutely amazing!!
im curious if youd ever post some of your lifting plans and drafts? id be so interested in seeing them and possibly trying some of the stuff you do out myself, so if you do have it recorded anywhere itd be so awesome to see B:•∆
Hi!!!!!! So, I would be absolutely thrilled to share drafts for anything original I make, but so far I've worked almost entirely from books. I'm always happy to say where something is from and walk you through any adaptations I've made or how a structure works and I'd probably send drafts privately if there is a specific one you ask about, but I feel a bit weird about just posting all of them publicly. Alternately, some of these are kind of "simple" or "universal" and may be in several books and I just worked them out in my own scribbly notebook, so there isn't really any draft I can share.


^ this is 2 block doubleweave, with a different tie-up for each piece. 8/2 cotton at 20epi (per layer, so 40epi in the reed) which was a bit too close. There's only one way to make it, it's not really a draft that can someone can lay claim to privately. Thread a straight draw, the wide block on shafts 1 to 4 (32 threads) and the narrow block on shafts 5 to 8 (16 threads), even shafts in one colour and odd shafts in the other. Slowly carefully derive the lift liftplan yourself according to which layers you want up and down at each point; I can share a photo of my notes but I'm not sure how useful they would be. It's in lots of books too - anything explaining doubleweave for 8 shaft looms will have it.


^ these are twills from the twill gamp section of Strickler's A Handweaver's Book of 8 Shaft Patterns absolutely phenomenal resource. 8/2 cotton at 24epi which is about right.

^ overshot also from Strickler, drafts 471-474. Tabby 16/2 cotton at 24epi, pattern weft 8/2 cotton (I also did some pieces with pattern weft 15/2 wool).



^ the first one is a copy, thread for thread, of ZZZZZ from 8 Shafts: Beyond The Beginning published by the Complex Weavers Guild. The second one is a narrower adaptation of it without reversals. Advancing wall of Troy twill, 2/15 wool, I think it was 24epi.
The third one is a near copy of the threading in For My Brother from the same book. I changed where the pattern was centred and I tried out many different treadlings as I went, just to see what happened. Interleaved twill - design a twill threading, then repeat it 3 more times starting 2 shafts over and in a different colour each time, so the final threading always goes "black grey white purple black grey white purple..." on {shafts 1, 3, 5, 7} and {shafts 2, 4, 6, 8} every time but it starts on different ones of those shafts. Warp 8/2 cotton boucle at 36epi, weft 33/2 60% cotton 40% linen.

^ deflected doubleweave! 15/2 wool at 20epi which was about right. I adapted a draft from Briand's The Art of Weaving by making all the blocks 4 ends wide instead of the 2, 4, or 6 ends they were in the book. Treadling is just made up on the fly (within the block structure), sometimes trying to make specific shapes and sometimes generating a random sequence on a computer. But again there's only really one way to make this on 8 shafts, it may turn up in several books.
