btw, if you've been using a password manager and forgot a password and you don't get the option to reveal the password in the input bar, just go to inspect element, look for the password input in the html tree and you'll see a type="password" or something, just replace the "password" for "text", so it says type="text" and you'll be shown your password

Coming back to comment that disabling smart features from Google Drive disables the category tabs in Gmail (you know, Promotions, Social, Updates). I get no less than 15 emails a day and need this kind of sorting, so my default inbox isn't jam packed with so much.
Just a heads up, since I spent the last half an hour freaking out about why I couldn't enable my categories.
Hey everyone, I know it's going to be a busy day for a lot of people, but Google enrolled everyone over 18 into their AI program automatically.
If you have a google account, first go to gemini.google.com/extensions and turn everything off.
Then you need to go to myactivity.google.com/product/gemini and turn off all Gemini activity tracking. You do have to do them in that order to make sure it works.
Honestly, I'm not sure how long this will last, but this should keep Gemini off your projects for a bit.
I saw this over on bluesky and figured it would be good to spread on here. It only takes a few minutes to do.

So, 4chan is dead. I think everyone knows it's reputation of utterly horrific racism and bigotry, but like. i don't want to go "4chan was great actually!!!', but I feel like it's worth pointing out, not unlike Reddit, it was divided into a lot of sub-forums, some awful, some better. /pol/, /b/ and /r9k/ were utter cesspools, some were actually nice. I was a fan of the /tg/ board.
Simply by chance, a group of millions of people operating across 15 years is going to do some bad things and some good things, whether the group as a whole leans towards good or bad. ( of course, 4chan, taken as a whole, was a net negative for everyone.) So, fuck it, here's a random list of cool and funny things that came from 4chan, in no particular order:
Katawa Shoujo, an entire collaboratively-made, actually great visual novel
/v/ Sings the MGRR soundtrack
a whole bunch of greentexts. funny ones like "wireless device" and actual stories. Of the latter, I'd highlight The Ballad of Edgardo and Old Man Henderson , both from /tg/.
/x/ (paranormal board) was the origin of both the SCP Foundation and the Backrooms
/tg/ is also the origin of the modern "internet CYOA game" genre. Check out r/makeyourchoice to see what I'm talking about, I love these things. (also includes Jumpchain and the related Celestial Forge, if you know those)
so many collaborative drawing and writing threads.
the origin point of the Anonymous hacker group, which did a lot of good, attacking hate organizations like Scientology, the Westboro Baptism Church, and a lot more.
/d/ used to be one of the best places to go for incredibly specific porn
That time when they sent Pitbull to Alaska
*I was going to name the Shia Labeouf flag saga, because the fact a bunch of online dudes managed to locate a camera pointed at the sky by analysing airplane flight paths is insane. unfortunately, the political implications leave a very bitter taste, and I can't in good conscience call it 'funny' or 'cool.'

and if i made a comic about them making a blog for the weird demon dog they found in the woods just because they are being brainwashed by it and it told them they need to spread the word of what word they don’t even fucking know?
#i really won’t do it since 1 i don’t know how to make comics and 2 i don’t have time to do it and i’m busy#but i could try it maybe idk just because i’m bored and would be my first comic i guess#i don’t wanna do my finals#kino art#like it totally was smile who find them and that dog probably has another name in my au with them totally isn’t smile her name#and the first one of course to seem very convincingly manipulated was nina since it was her idea taking the dog. but also#jeff since he like it at the end even if it was a weird ass looking dog#so nina got brainwashed don’t know how because the freaking dog is weird and she said hey…#and if we made a blog for her? and jeff so weirded out and be like… why? and she’s like well i don’t know would be funny scare people#so still unconvinced smile had to dig into jeff’s brain also manipulate him and be like yeah alright maybe we should#so they went kill some college student stole their car and stuffs. they aren’t the most intelligent killers#oh but nina knows how to drive. jeff no won’t even try because he knows he would drive them both to their deaths. he so would#so yeah nina does know (kinda) how to drive so it’s all cool. jeff gets to use the stolen computer and don’t care if he deletes everything#and same for the phone but since he never got an iphone or any advanced phone nina teaches him how to use the new stolen phone#so uhhhh yeah got a bit far from that. they hacked the computer (they didn’t it was their luck it didn’t have a password)#so their dumbasses were like wait… what we were gonna do and then was like oh yeah! the blog!#they went back to the freaking dog took a very ugly picture in some abandoned house they will stay there for a while#since they were homeless for now. anyways took the picture of the demon dog and used it for#their blog and yeah did it scare some people thinking wow that’s a good photoshop but no one knew was a real haunted picture#and jeff be like hey… let’s send the photo to scare the friends of the person we killed and both they be like hehe alright that’s funny#at the end well they did enjoy making the stupid blog and scaring people with the picture they thought it wasn’t real and just a bad prank#from the… real demon dog they literally own (in reverse the roles here to be honest but they are stupid they don’t know)#while not knowing what even is that picture causing around the internet aaand… probably just probably they cursed to death some people#but for now they are too happy they have a job at least. with smile just watching them#lol this is too stupid WHATEVR#i would be a happy child in me while writing all of this shit in class idgaf#creepypasta#jeff the killer#nina the killer#smile dog

Reblogging again because i really like this. It has a good variety of games. And it's super nice not having any ads. Reminds me of when apps were much simpler. I miss it
it should be illegal to put ads in apps or sites for solitaire or picross or sudoku tbh. playing classic puzzle games uninterrupted needs to be a HUMAN RIGHT

ok but like have y’all read that hacker group’s “explanation” on why they launched a ddos attack on internet archive. bc they said with their whole chest that it’s because:
a) theyre pro-palestine and wanted to flex their big beefy hacker muscles on a website that provides international open access to information as a test before hacking quote, “a list of targets, including israeli entities”
b) the internet archive is secretly in cahoots with the us government and is spying on everybody! eek! scary!! (source cited: brewster khale was on a library of congress digitization initiatives committee. one that is no longer active)
c) these hackers just really REALLY love copyright law okay and they feel oh so bad for the massive corporations sueing the internet archive. “grrr we are activist hackers and we hate piracy grrr”
its the most self-report attempt at being like “i swear guys we aren’t the feds!!” i have EVER seen

I am a former 4chan user. 4chan was recently upended. Here are some statements (that I believe as fact) that you may find helpful.
-4chan was to some degree, a CIA honeypot
-It is(was) the most prolific meme factory of the internet. Even if you never cared for that site, this will affect internet culture for years. If internet memes were cars, this is like if Toyota and Honda went out of business on the same day.
-The last words uttered on 4chan were "Chicken Jockey"
-Tumblr could be imagined as batman, and 4chan as the joker. After the joker went to prison, Batman sat on his ass for seven years until Bane came along. Use this info as you please.
-Your next new internet friend that you make could very well be a 4chan refugee. Please be patient with them.
-Many of the users had been feeling stockholm syndrome for years. Others loathed the fact that they used the site. It's an infectious magnetic place.
-It's pretty funny how this was done by former users of the site that had become radicalized by the jannies and mods. It was a long time coming.
-People on tumblr seem to be overestimating how upset 4chan users are about the site going away. 4chan users know 4chan is a cesspool better than anybody else.
-The info of the mods and jannies were leaked while the site's users were not.

The funniest part is...I was there for the early years of the internet... and we've come full circle. Ads were just malware back then - adults were VERY serious about you not clicking (accidentally or otherwise) on the ads bc you'd end up with all kinds of malware/spyware bogging down the computer. Not to mention that ads were big, noisy, and often in the way. Plus, pop-up hell.
Google was actually a good search site back then, too! But ads got less...actively dangerous and predatory for a time! And now here we are, right back at the beginning of the internet - being bombarded with a thousand intrusive ads that all want to install trackers... which is what we were trying to get away from in the first place!
