I'm sorry that I keep talking about Kingdom Come so much but I'm genuinely just so blown away by this game; it's like, open world rpg with bazillion quests and every single one of them is engaging and well written, how did they do it........

Sometimes I see this panel and laugh so hard that Toriyama didn't think anyone would like Vegeta and fully planned to kill him off permanently but the fandom just put this whole tiny man in their mouth immediately and he stayed in the story until Toriyama fell in love with him too

To Be Hero X isn’t as interested so far in exploring heroism as a concept as it is in making it a commentary on capitalism and the entertainment industry specifically.

Lin Ling claims he wants to be a hero, but he hasn’t exactly saved anyone so far—he’s been starring in photoshoots and TV shows, writing advertisements, getting exploited by his bosses. The entire fight with Wreck being filmed and outright scripted is a huge indicator to me on what the show wants to talk about.

In any other show, Nice would be considered a Fake Hero. He’s more concerned with looking good and making money than the actual heroics side of his job. And this makes sense with Lin Ling’s livelihood depending on it, but then: why is the show called To Be Hero?

I think in this show, “I want to be a hero” is synonymous with “I want to be rich”.

“Anyone can be a hero” = “anyone can become rich”, the capitalist dream. But there’s a price. If Lin Ling wants to keep the power, prestige, and wealth that comes with being Nice (and right now at least, it seems he does), then he has to play the part perfectly. He fears losing trust value = he fears losing his fame. Nice needs to be perfect = he needs to do what he’s told.

I do think the show might delve deeper into the theme of actual heroism later, and this may come into direct conflict with the fake heroism characters like Lin Ling have to abide by. Though it’s possible being a true hero is also synonymous with being free from the industry.

the thing abt nyachu is that it's so very compelling to me. what if I were a small angry teenager who felt dissatisfied with the world and my place in it in a way that I can't quite articulate and don't know what to do abt and you were mysterious and aloof (and also awkward and lonely and in need of a friend) and like no one I'd ever met before and meeting you opened my eyes to both the material realities of the world and what I personally can do to make it better (by getting in a giant robot and punching cops). and we were both girls (and also possibly at some point roommates)

pouring one out for luo binghe in my disciple SQQ fic, poor guy has taken a backseat here. we're nearly 30k words deep and he hasn't even shown his face once. it'll be much longer before he even actually talks to Shen Qingqiu.

(i say im pouring one out but in reality im sitting in my director's chair chewing on a cigar and wearing a beret as he tearily and unsuccessfully pleads with me for more scenes with Shen Qingqiu)

Continuing through some routes in the hundred line and it is so interesting for me to see an Uchikoshi Protagonist in a very Kodaka setting and narrative with characters that mostly have that best Danganronpa-esque character development arcs in hope with them. Like, it is very VERY interesting to have what I call the dumbasshole uchikoshi archetype (see: Junpei, Sigma, Date) take the lead in a role that would suit the likes of Makoto, Hajime, and Shuichi better in rallying the people in their kindhearted leadership.

but takumi is different. takumi, at the end of the day, however kind he may be, is incredibly and inherently selfish. Which makes things oh so more interesting

we unfortunately don't have many. ayaka is in love with hiroko is the first one that has this romcom vibe as far as i'm aware.

another one that is very famous is chaser game w. this one has two seasons and it tells the story of two women who had a romance in university but they broke up in bad terms. years later fuyu goes back to japan and becomes itsuki's boss and fuyu is very determined to make itsuki's life hell (it doesn't last long, though, she folds so easily).

one of my all time favorites, though, has to be she love to cook and she loves to eat. it also has two seasons and it's not necessarily plot heavy, but it approaches many topics. like a lot of my favorite japanese shows, she love to cook and she loves to eat revolves (obviously) around food, but it's also about discovering one's sexuality later in life, coming to terms with that, and just living life how you want and not how others expect you to. it's such a heartwarming show, and it might not be everyone's cup of tea because it is slower, but to me, it's very comforting and i rewatch it every time i need a pick me up.

as a very casual fan i dont have much of a new deltarune verdict other than "DAMN THAT WAS GOOD!" but damn it was good. both chapters knocked it out of the park and the jump in quality in them is top notch especially in everything done with visuals and new mechanics and all that. love how much you can tell this is toby fox's passion project, as a former big undertale kid the growth in it is onpoint especially when they bring comparisons to the forefront. and just as i think this game hits its peak of comedy with endearing gimmick characters it gives me more of them to fall in love with.

also i love noelle to bits i'm so happy we got more noelle she's my everything. in general every combination of character relationships in this game is very endearing and i'm glad to see that be leaned more into. tenna was a character i became obsessed with the moment i saw him and he just became better and better because what IF you saw a family crumple from the perspective of their old tv. haunting concept i loved ch3's talk of obsolescence in objects a LOT and the outright confirmation of that being what the dark world represents, childhood and personal objects that you will outgrow but will always be there when you need them, really got to me and i adore it.

also i got to voice rouxls in my friend's playthrough and it was some of the most fun iv had ever

i do still hold the opinion that i always have of "the meta stuff with the player and the concept of player character autonomy just does not do it for me as much as it should" and i wish it did because it's interesting conceptually and i don't think it's poorly done or anything it is just not something i care that much about.

i'm looking forward to the other shoe dropping though. toby fox delivered two entire buffets to us but dang am i already excited for more! thank you toby 🐶

So the other day, I started watching this asian historic romance drama and there's this part where the female lead is seriously injured and looks to be about to die in the wilderness, but she just so happens to run into the main love interest. He rescues her when she falls unconscious, takes her to a safe place to rest, and nurses her back to health. While staying together, he plays music for her to comfort her. At some point, when she is feeling better, they make music together. During this time, they get to know each other and at this point it is very clear that a romance is being set up here. I don't know how this story ends yet (I haven't finished the show), but it really gets to me just how obvious it all is. Just how unquestionable it is that these two are falling in love when it is between a man and a woman.
