I don't know if a book like this exists. I am fairly new to the romance genre.

Can you suggest a book where a married couple falls back in love?

I just want to read a hopeful novel with hot sex. I did read the unhoneymooners but I thought it was a little boring.

Oh, def! This would be called "marriage in trouble", typically. And yeah, Christina Lauren used to write hot sex scenes, but sadly their more recent books have been quiiiite tame :/

Historical:

The Duchess Deal The Day of the Duchess by Sarah MacLean. One of my favorite marriage in trouble books. The hero and heroine were in love, but the marriage happened under very less than ideal circumstances, after which he cheated on her, and she lost their baby a few months later. She ran off, and is now back after a couple of years wanting a divorce. He does NOT want a divorce, so he decides to get her back by asking her to help him find a new wife, during which he plans to seduce her. Angsty and hot and very good.

The Courtesan Duchess by Joanna Shupe. These two never consummated the marriage, which was arranged, and he basically fucked off to the Continent and left her alone. She needs his baby for legal purposes six years later and disguises herself as a courtesan to seduce him, as he wouldn't recognize her anyway. They DO fall in love then, she DOES get pregnant, and when she leaves him he figures out what happened and shows up at their house like THE OTHER SHOE JUST DROPPED, understandably quite pissed. It's so fun. She throws up all over him. lOVE.

Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage by Jennifer Ashley. Maybe my favorite marriage in trouble book. They've been separated a few years, and she storms back into his life because she realized that someone is forging his paintings and wants him to know. And he's all "while you're here..... stay forever yes?" But she's all "stay forever... no" so he decides to put all of his effort and extreme sexiness into getting her back. This one is soooooo hot. The sex was never their issue, in fact lol it was maybe too good and basically helped them ignore their problems (including the fact that they got married like, right after meeting because they were horny for each other).

Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas. The classic "he left her the day after the wedding and they've been separated for ten years and now she wants a divorce so that she can marry someone else and he's all ummmmm BABY FIRST" setup.

Her Husband's Harlot by Grace Callaway. This isn't really a "fall back in love" book because they don't know each other that well, though he is enamored with her and she does want him. They married for societal reasons, and he refuses to touch her because Dark Past, so she disguises herself as a sex worker to get him into bed. A SHOCKINGLY LARGE AMOUNT OF ROMANCE MEN WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THEIR WIVES IF THEY WEAR A MASK OR HEAVY MAKEUP IDK.

The Lady Who Came in from The Cold by Grace Callaway. OOOh this is angsty. They've been married like twelve years and have three kids and it's all happy... until he finds out she was a spy when they met and never told him. Then they separate, and she decides to get him back. SUPER hot, but TW for past sexual assault.

Return to Monte Carlo by Cate C. Wells. Set in the 80s, so technically a historical. Basically, he's rich, she's a good bit younger and comes from nothing, and they married very impetuously because the sex was hot. But a year in, she's miserable because he's distant and his family treats her like shit, so she leaves his ass and goes back to America. Only for him to find her five months later, discover she's pregnant, and go "ABSOLUTELY NOT".

Lady Charlotte and The Seductive Spymaster by Grace Callaway. They were married, she suspected him of cheating and they had a huge fight, and then he APPARENTLY died, which left her traumatized. Then, yeeeears later, she's finally ready to try to move on, and just as she's about to kiss her new suitor someone throws a ROCK through the window lmao. Turns out her husband had a lot of secrets and faked his death, but now he's back and IT WASN'T OVER FOR HIM AND STILL ISN'T OVER.

Contemporary:

Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. In this one they're actually divorced and co-parenting pretty well when the book begins. They split because their third baby died in a stillbirth, and their marriage dissolved after that. But when he begins to move on, she realizes she's still in love with him. Hot, and angsty perfection.

Possession by Adriana Anders. Another where it's a little iffy because their marriage, while legal, was PR and in name only--he's a famous actor, she's a rising star. But then he's discovered "cheating" on her when a video is taken of him having kinky sex with a woman who looks suspiciously like her... So she follows him to this getaway he stays at to indulge these desires he's never shared with her before. SUPER hot, and surprisingly emotional.

Paranormal:

Winterblaze by Kristen Callihan. Paranormal historical. They've been married like... 14ish years, and she never told him she was a witch, or that, you know, there's an entire paranormal world. Then he gets maimed in an attack and discovers everything, gets super pissed, and leaves her. Months later there's a new case to investigate and they end up working on it together... And oof, there are still MANY. MANY feelings. I love this one soooo much.

Also like this is my recurring problem with video games in general, I tend to try the girl options and then settle on a boy option simply bc I like the boys better. I used to be really torn up about it bc I thought I was a bad queer lmao.

Like I romanced Liara in Mass Effect and she just.... Wasn't my type at all, and when they radically changed her personality it made things worse. Meanwhile, Garrus is one of the best romances in gaming and actually makes me feel good as a queer person. So, whoops. (I would have loved romancing Jack but noooooooo. 8C)

Then in Dragon Age, Alistair gave me a rose and I was like "well, fuck, Gaider, that's not fair." and Leliana wouldn't stop talking about her personal relationship with God, so yikes on that!

In DA2 I was gonna romance Isabella but she LEFT THE STORY and I fell off the game whoops. Wish Aveline was an option.

In Inquisition I fully romanced Isabella first time and I think I enjoyed that the most, but it was her or Sera wasn't it? And like jfc I hate Sera. Frankly the most important relationship I have in DAI is with Dorian, the queerplatonic love of my life. THE DREAM was Cassandra obviously but she's STRAIGHT I guess.

But I keep coming to the same problem, which is that I prefer an archetype that is sadly either locked to boys only or is boy. I want the hypercompetent workaholic who will fight at your side and needs to be grounded a bit. I like that shit. But it's usually boys! 8(

If i stuck with Andromeda I would have thrown myself at Vetra. Alas, that game...... Was really fucking bad. 8C

//finally making a headcanons post about izzy, salvatore's daughter that he has down the line in the road trip verse! she'll definitely make appearances as a guest muse in certain threads at some point, but for the most part she's just vibing as a treat for me in personal writing.

first, i should probably explain the road trip verse a bit lmao, i've mentioned it but haven't talked about it in detail.

the road trip verse is like. one of two Purely Modern Timelines for salvatore's storyline (the other being the vampire fight club verse). basically, the idea is that this is the timeline where sal and his human boytoy/husband jason (aka billy, though i'll be calling him jason for this post) escape victor for good and run away together, eventually choosing to settle down.

it's the timeline where sal eventually chooses to try and be happy rather than just finding a way to die after he gets his revenge. he finally has peace, and for *him* part of that peace involves eventually settling down with a family he chose that actively supports and loves him.

and as part of this specific timeline, eventually he and jason raise a daughter together. more details and headcanons under the cut, to avoid making this a mile long.

how izzy happened: in late 2007 (starting in october and ending in december), jason and salvatore had a brief break in their relationship. not a break-*up*, mind you, but a significant break lasting a good few months. they still kept in touch and remained on good terms, but they weren't attached at the hip like they previously had been for ten years.

(essentially, it started because salvatore had a crisis about their age difference and jason not having much relationship experience outside of him, insisting that jason needed to try being with other people (other *humans*) and having a *normal* life before committing to an old vampire. jason didn't necessarily agree, but eventually he also figured they could use some space from each other, at least for the time being, since they'd been living in a van together for 10 years.)

so, they spent a few months apart, during which time jason met a woman named cass and had a very brief relationship with her. the relationship was more sexual than romantic and ended on mutual terms after a few weeks, but they still got along very well.

cass was a defense lawyer and wasn't looking to settle down with anyone, especially not some stupid prettyboy stoner she met at a coffee shop. jason was a good lay, and that was all she was looking for. and after a few weeks of casual sex, the two went their separate ways with vague promises to keep in touch.

jason had a few other brief flings during this time, but very few of them lasted very long. and in december, he and salvatore reunited, getting back together on new year's after a long talk about their relationship and how it would move forward.

then, a month or so later, cass reached out and got back in touch with jason, with news: she was pregnant. and based on the timing, the baby had to be his. and she wanted to know if he wanted anything to do with it. if jason wanted nothing to do with her or the baby, she would be getting an abortion, and that was that. but if he *did*... then she was willing to work something out.

i won't go over all the nitty gritty from that point in this post, but in the *main* timeline of this verse, the boys move in with cass and stay with her for a while, at least until the baby is born.

and then, on august 26th, 2008, cass has the baby, who she and the boys decide to name isabella. and even though cass and jason aren't married and have no interest in changing that, baby isabella gets both of their surnames, keeping in line with cass's family.

(depending on the specific flavor of this verse, cass is either eventually in a polyamorous relationship with jason and salvatore, or she does her own thing. regardless, she *is* a major part of isabella's life and coparents with the boys.)

headcanons:

as she gets older, isabella insists on going by izzy most of the time. she doesn't *hate* her full name per se, but she definitely vastly prefers izzy.

izzy has a HUGE emo phase starting when she's 11 that she never really grows out of. she's born too late for myspace, but if she had been alive for that, she'd be doing numbers there, i promise you.

she does, however, have a tumblr account, where she mostly posts shitposts and original poetry. is the poetry good? if you ask sal, yes. yes it is.

izzy calls salvatore "dad," jason "papa," and cass "mom." as she gets older, sal sometimes gets called "bitch dad."

even if sal isn't biologically related to izzy, she adores him regardless. and he spoils her fucking *rotten*. he's not incapable of telling her no, but he *is* a very weak man who loves his daughter. he calls her "the boss." (eg: "the boss said she wants spaghetti for dinner, billy.")

izzy knows her dad is a vampire, and when she's little, she thinks it's the coolest fucking thing. she frequently asks him to do "the scary vampire face" for her (flashing his eyes red and baring his fangs) because it makes her laugh.

and up until she starts middle school, she tells basically anyone she doesn't like that her dad Who Is A Vampire will kill them and eat them if they don't leave her alone. (sal is flattered that she knows he'll back her up, but tries to convince her not to threaten the other children. please.)

izzy asks sal for piggyback rides all the time, and he always indulges her, no matter how old she is.

i'm not too sure as of now if she would ever identify as anything other than cisgender, but growing up, izzy has a pretty fluid/non-conforming expression of gender. she tends to lean a bit more masc much of the time, but she has a fondness for skirts and dark makeup as she gets older.

also not too sure on her orientation as of now, but i was thinking earlier about her having a crush on a boy in her class in fifth grade because he's the only other emo kid and said he wishes she was a vampire. so that's canon.

when she's an adult, she's 5'8". just a little taller than her dad <3

very colorful vocabulary, considering sal makes no attempt to censor his language around the baby. izzy absolutely was called to the principal's office at least once in kindergarten for calling her teacher a cunt.

In the case the entity cannot control the weaker being, it is usually because the weaker one is actually the strongest one in the emotion drive.

I've been rewatching all the Loki content to get ready for the new show and I have thought of A Phineas and Ferb AU™ for your viewing pleasure (and if anyone wants to turn any part of this into an actual fanfic I would owe you my life)

You know how the first Thor movie ends with Loki yeeting himself off the Bifrost and falling to earth? What if, instead of going after the Tesseract, he falls straight to the Tri-State area?

Jane, Darcy, and Selvig all seemed to be on vacation, right? So Thor presumably took place during the summer — say, perhaps, ending on June 3? So he falls right onto Phineas and Ferb's rollercoaster just before it goes down that ♫ three-mile drop straight down ♪. He has no idea wtf is happening so it's not like he gets the chance to sit down and put on a seatbelt, so he's stuck holding on for dear life for the entire rollercoaster ride which Phineas and Ferb find weird but they're not really concerned bc they're chill lil dudes and tbh this isn't too far off a normal day for them.

Phineas and Loki strike up a none-too-pleasant conversation (not that Phineas notices Loki's bad mood; he's too Him to realize not everyone is rainbows and sunshine all day, every day), and our favorite lil disoriented demigod has to figure out where the fuck he is now ("You there. What realm is this?" "Danville 🙂" "Wut da fuk?") and what the fuck he's supposed to do now that he's here.

Phineas ends up inviting him to hang out for the afternoon, and Loki is about to turn him down but then he smells the pie. He's never had doonkleberry pie before so obviously he has to try it. Then, when Loki's no longer hangry, they can hold an actual conversation. It's lowkey more Loki wallowing in his own self-pity than anything else, but Ferb recognizes Asgard when Loki mentions it so he and Phineas piece together that he's a god pretty quickly.

More importantly, though, they figure out that he's completely alone, and because Loki never mentions trying to, you know, murder his brother and lowkey overthrow the monarchy, they just kinda assume Loki's family sucks (Ferb is completely prepared to start the anti-Thor club but Phineas stops him because he doesn't want his brother to get struck by lightning) and adopt him (without his consent, but it's not like he has anywhere else to be -- and he did like that pie).

Loki has no desire to build anything with the boys He thinks the idea of a backyard beach they make the next morning is stupid — even more stupid than a regular beach, and that's saying something. But over time, he gets more involved -- not just with the boys, but with the entire family. He helps the boys build their inventions. He talks about human history with Lawrence and corrects much of his knowledge on mythology. He lets Linda teach him how to bake seriously, her pies are so good. He even suffers through Candace's mall trips as long as he gets to go to that fro-yo place on the second floor (though he draws the line at any conversation involving romance).

He's still a little skeptical of the platypus (and he feels like the platypus is a little skeptical of him, too) but Phineas insists that he's "just a platypus" and he "doesn't do much." Loki doesn't realize that Perry's keeping an eye on him for OWCA, nor does he know that Monogram has absolutely no idea what to make of the dude so he hasn't actually told any of his superiors about him. As far as the government is concerned, after the fiasco in New Mexico, Loki just disappeared.

This makes it fucking hilarious when the boys accidentally steal the superheroes' powers in Mission: Marvel and the superheroes show up at the Flynn-Fletchers' front door only to see fucking Loki. Loki just shuts the door in their faces without a word because what the fuck?, but eventually Phineas and Ferb go check the door and they agree to help the heroes (much to Loki's chagrin), which, of course, isn't complete with Candace fangirling over them (also much to Loki's chagrin; she never fangirled over him). At first the Avengers are fully convinced that Loki is responsible for stealing their powers, and Loki never actually denies it because he's a little shit but Phineas, Ferb, and their friends are very insistent that Loki didn't do anything (except a little bit of manual labor putting together the satellites because they're 10 and he's a whole-ass demigod).

At some point, Thor and Loki have a very heated discussion about the events of Thor, and it's pretty much all news to the Flynn-Fletchers and their friends. They're not really sure what to make of it so they basically glue their mouths shut and watch it all play out. I'd like to think it goes something like it does in The Avengers and that a) Thor is pissed because what the fuck have you been up to Loki you fucking dumbass, b) Thor has been in mourning since Loki yeeted himself into the abyss and he wants to make sure the guy knows it, and c) Loki does not take it seriously at all he's being antagonistic the entire time because he is so sick of Mr. High-And-Mighty's shit. In the end, Loki storms out of the SHEDquarters and Phineas doesn't even think to try to stop him until he's halfway out the door and it's too late.

He shows up again when Phineas, Ferb, and the Avengers try to fight the bad guys in the mall with the wrong powers and he basically singlehandedly saves their asses until superhero Perry shows up. As everyone's favorite shapeshifter, he has absolutely no problem figuring out that this beaver duck dude is the Flynn-Fletchers' platypus. He has no idea what to do with that information, but it sure is information that he now has apparently. (At this point, poor Loki has a very warped sense of what earth is supposed to be like lmao).

Phineas tries to get Loki to come back with them after superhero Perry grabs them and carries them home. Instead, Loki cuts himself loose and falls like 30 feet straight down (and tbh after falling from the Bifrost, that's nothing to him) and peaces the fuck out.

Loki ends up accidentally bonding with Candace and Isabella over feeling useless and unwanted (and he absolutely gets his own verse in Only Trying to Help because it's what he deserves), but unlike the two girls who are hell-bent on changing that, Loki is content wallowing in his own self-pity. He's tried this whole "being important" thing before and he ended up in self-exile for it. He's not putting himself through it again because he really doesn't expect it to end well. But then the powerless heroes decide to face the villains again, and with Candace and Isabella in space and Perry nowhere to be seen, he realizes it is once again up to him to keep the tri-state area safe (which he knows is a stupid priority but he's gotten kind of attached to these stupid little humans and he wants to keep them safe).

Then the heroes get their powers back and they join Loki (and Perry and the mysterious waffle gun in the sky) and beat the shit out of the villains. Thor and Loki work together in the heat of the battle which serves as a Great Bonding Moment™, and once the villains are gone, they have a nice lil heart-to-heart where they both apologize for their past. Thor remarks that Loki seems to have grown a lot over the last couple of months and tries to bring Loki home with him, but Loki refuses. He'll never be welcome back into Asgard, no matter what Thor may say.

But he is welcome with the Flynn-Fletchers, who are completely over the fact that he tried to ruin Thor's life and take his not-so-rightful place on the throne (except Candace who's very skeptical about having him back but it's not like Linda will believe her if she tries to tell her what Thor and Loki talked about so her opinion is unfortunately as irrelevant as it usually is on the show).

And early the next morning, before anyone else is awake, Perry gets an alert that he's needed in his headquarters (presumably to talk to or about Fury). He quietly sneaks off, only to find Loki waiting at the bottom of the stairs for him. They have a very nice "conversation" (not that Perry speaks) about the superhero Ducky Momo they saw the day before, and Loki assures him that his secret is safe, thus starting a much-needed bromance between Loki and Perry because it's what my babies, goddammit!

Anyways yeah if anyone wants to write a fanfic about Loki hanging out with Phineas and Ferb during his self-exile I would give you a socially distant high-five because I want to read it but I have too many other fanfics on my plate to start this one for at least a few months. It doesn't have to follow this prompt literally at all (I swear I wasn't trying to get this in-depth with it but this is what I do apparently) or it can follow this prompt exactly idc i just want a PnF/Loki fanfic 🥺

the first child is Þrúðr  (  anglecised as Thrúd  )    Old Norse for  ‘  strength  ’ ,  she / her .   and strength sums her up well ,  she’s the goddess of the heath ,  of willows ,  of trees ,  flowers and grass .   she also grows up to be one of the mightiest valkyrie Ásgarðr has ever seen .   she takes after Sif ,  a lot   :   is geared to fight ,  even from a young age ,  and also cares for her younger siblings as if she were their mother .    she’s absolutely Thor’s favourite   ---   if he had to choose lmao .   she reminds him of Sif ,  so much ,  and definitely has Sif’s best qualities .   however ,  she can be stubborn ,  and often struggles to handle things when they don’t go her way .   the forest ,  and surrounding nature ,  calms her .     she has a younger ,  and an older faceclaim   ---------------   as a child ,  khushi maheen  (  one ,  two  )  and as a teen ,  and a valkyrie in training ,  iqra aziz  (  one ,  two  )

the third child ,  born two years later ,  is Magn ,  or Magne .   genderfluid ,  as they make clear on many an occasion ,  from the moment they can speak   !    their name means  ‘  mighty warrior  ’   ---------------   and it’s apt .   Magn has Thor and Sif’s physical strength ,  and works incredibly well with Þrúðr to train Ásgarðr ‘s Valkyrie ,  soldiers ,  and even everyday citizens ,  making sure the realm can protect itself from attack .   but more than that ,  Magn is a true strategist ,  and actually prefers to use their intellectual strength ,  especially when they’re older   ;   looking at how to sustain peace across the nine ,  how Ásgarðr‘s resources can be spread across the universe ,  without weakening or depleting the realm itself   ...   as a younger kid ,  Magn was almost like a  ‘ mini Loki ’   :   he loved to prank the poor guards and maids that were assigned to care for him when Thor and Sif were busy ,  he had a cheeky ,  mischievous ,  yet entirely adorable personality .    faceclaim :  yaman tümen  (  one ,  two  )

Some Fireside Girls Headcanons that make no sense but I like anyway

So to preface this I have nothing to back any of these up. They’re all super ooc headcanons. So think of them as more like suggestions if they were to be written out as actual characters lmao. And of course these are just my own silly headcanons!! I absolutely love seeing other’s characterizations and I thought I share my own :)

Ginger is the athlete of the group. While all of them have athletic abilities Ginger is just a monster when it comes to sports. She even gets accepted into her school’s football team

Ginger only joined the fireside girls because of Isabella for when they were little Isabella joined and not wanting to be alone just kind of followed Isabella around. And I guess she never really stopped in a way

Ginger’s the shyest and most reserved of the group and is actually the most sensitive. Even though she can be sassy when she wants she’s also kind of a nervous wreck at all times. (WILL cry as a warning before she fights you)

Despite being pretty smart Adyson doesn’t apply herself to school and is considered a “bad and sassy child”

She’s basically the snarky comic relief character with a heart of gold

Adyson is in the foster care system

She lets out her frustration with her home life through the fireside girl activities and considers her troop her real family

Holly is the mom friend who is obsessed with safety and being germ free. She‘s basically the only reason the other girls haven’t died from their adventures

She also loves punk rock music and dresses like one in her regular clothes which throws off the other girls because the very definition of punk is to disobey rules and live life dangerously which is very much NOT what Holly does. But hey who are they to judge?

Holly is Nigerian and was in the fireside girls back in her home town but was seen as the “odd one out” in her old troop. But when her and her family came to the U.S. and she joined the main troop she suddenly found her own group of misfits

Holly and Katie live in the same apartment complex and are the closest to one another in the troop

Katie is Swedish, why? Idk it just fits for some reason lmao

Katie has a horror obsession and loves anything gore, psychological thriller, or monster invasion related

Her entire room is decorated wall to wall with horror movie posters, figurines and gothic decor which contrasts her personality so much. But secretly reinforces how Katie has a very scary dark side to her cheerful demeanor 

Also she’s adopted!! By two wonderful fathers who are a little creeped out by her fascination with horror and get very nervous when she’s out running around collecting the most dangerous sounding patches ever. But hey as long as Katie’s happy, they’re happy.

Milly is Greek-Italian

Milly’s family is looooadeddd. They are filthy rich

Not only do both her parents come from wealthy families they both became even wealthier. On her father’s side he is a land owner and basically owns all of the housing in Danville. On her mother’s she’s a brilliant Italian-American actress

Milly is extremely materialistic and values her collections and personal stuff very much. Whenever someone is in her room they can’t touch a SINGLE thing

Though even through this she’s genuinely very sweet and will help anyone in need. She’s probably objectively the nicest girl in the troop however she will absolutely destroy you if you provoke her

Gretchen is as smart as Baljeet and the two develop an ugly rivalry

Gretchen is French-American

She lives an extremely quiet life at home. I hc that her mother is deaf, her father a naturally quiet man who can’t stand loud noises, and her sick grandfather can no longer speak or hear. She spent most of her childhood alone and reading books quietly in her home

When she joined the fireside girls she became open to a whole new and loud world that she can’t get enough of now

Isabella: The most smart and level head of my Royal Affairs MCs however she has lived a way too easy life never having to really survive out there. Her brains can only take her up to a point. Dies pretty early (unless she is in a bunker for royalty, she might get pretty far if that’s the case lmao)

Aubrey: Big debate with my sister if she has powers or not because she is human, but has the Keeper powers, so we are giving her half a point hahaa

Anyway, even with keeper powers she doesn’t last too long. Her supplies to make potions and runes end running out at some point so she is physically defendless. Aubrey is also too nice and trusting, and not above sacrificing herself for someone else so she also dies pretty early

Clementine: Another debate if she being a psychic could be considered as having powers, so she gets half a point asjaksa. Makes it farther than Aubrey and Isabella because she is older and has more experience (being able to hear what other people intentions are helps a lot too) but only makes it halfway or something like that. She is super smart but also has lived a too comfortable life, worst of all she is a journalist and therefore extremely curious, which probably has her end in the wrong place at the wrong time (either with people or zombies) 

Cassidy: Not only she has illusion powers she also has daggers and knows how to use them. Cassidy is manipulative, cunning and ruthless, not above cutting someone’s throat in order to survive (as long as they deserve it). But she is also too fucking reckless and thinks she can take 15 zombies at the same time, spoiler alert: she can’t. Makes it a decent amount of time tho

Robin: I was torn if putting her before or after Cassidy but they probably make it the same amount of time. Listen, Robin might be a zero but she is smart and resourceful! She might have depression but will also fight with teeth and nails to survive. Survivors might be able to read her thoughts but not all of them, she has become adept at hiding a lot of them from Nick so that he doesn’t worry even more.

Robin was already surviving in her canon story, she will also do it in here, as long as she can. She is not above doing what has to be done, so her survival is possible (or at least for a long time) as long as zombies don’t retain their mental powers (Jo, do zombies in the Mind universe retain their mental powers and can perceive Button’s thoughts? important question 👀)

Astrid: I was torn (and i’m still am) to put her here and not last and if she survives or not. On the one hand she is a monster hunter but on the other one, she has a really fat ass depression and anxiety so idk how well she would deal with everything. However, above all Astrid is stubborn, and she didn’t survive this long only to die in a lame way like being killed by zombies. 

She has what it takes to survive: the physical training and experience killing creatures, she is smart and resourceful and will not hesitate against another human who is a danger for her survival. If her mental state allows it, she can survive this.

Amelia: Same as above, I’m torn about her survival status and if she dies how long she makes it. Amelia is physically qualified and it is hard for her to break under pressure or show too many emotions; she is also resourceful and smart, having the qualities to become the leader. However, for Amelia, it would be hard to cross the line of attacking other humans but would do it if it meant protecting others. High chances of surviving everything

Odessa: Girl is literally already living in an apocalypse world so she is already used to this shit ajskahsa. Again she is smart, has a good physical condition, knows how to use a bow and arrow, is charming and has survival instincts. Doesn’t like fighting with other humans but won’t hesitate to do what it takes to survive another day (especially if it means to protect those she loves). 99.9% chances of survival and high chances of becoming a community leader.

At the start of the books, she’s kind of... sleepwalking through life? like, she was in a not-great place mentally for most of her teens and didn’t really have a plan for the future but law enforcement was definitely not it? She isn’t feeling super passionate about what she’s doing and it kind of sucks to not have joy in purpose :( luckily that’s changing and is gonna be a significant part of her journey through the series!

Her apartment is cluttered but clean and she knows where everything is, if someone moved one of her things she would not be able to find it and it would bother her until she located it

She’s not stubborn exactly? Like she’ll concede an argument if it’s not super important to her and has no problem with losing or backing down in many cases; she’s pretty open minded in that respect, but if something is central to her values then she will Die before she backs down

On that note she’s overall a very logical person but when it comes down to it she'll follow her heart/first instinct

Does not care about rules or procedures At All, she'll follow them if it suits her end goal but otherwise... nope

Lowkey she… did not care about the reveal? it was a surprise but not her first priority in the moment- she kind of already thought UB was sketchy and didn’t trust them, so mainly she was pissed off that Rebecca had sent them to babysit her instead of actually help solve the murders

Speaking of Rebecca their relationship is kind of yikes. Kira isn’t exactly mad that Rebecca was gone so often, but she does think that she kind of forfeited her parenting rights and was annoyed that Rebecca was interfering with her life; first by getting her on the force and then by dropping UB on her. So now it’s Very Awkward between them because Kira doesn’t want to be like… mean but honestly what is there to say?? They’re trying but neither of them like to share personal information so it’s rough

On the subject of sharing, she just… genuinely doesn’t like to open up. Like, it doesn’t come naturally and in her mind it’s just… nobody else’s business what she’s feeling/what’s going on in her life

Genuinely does not realize that people care about her unless they openly tell her lmao... sad hours but at this point in the story she honestly doesnt think that any of UB cares abt her beyond their job besides the one she's dating :(

FYI. I’m about to unload a whole story to you lol. But for some reason, I have had an urge to tell you why AMENDED is my absolute favorite story and why I relate to it.

Starting with Isabella. Me and her grew up very similar. My mother was a drug addict and alcoholic most of my life. After her and my father (who was also an addict) separated. Then came the same creepy boyfriends. But unlike Isabella, I had an older sister so that helped out a lot. My childhood wasn’t as bad as I remember because I spent most of it with my grandparents, who I fortunately still have to this day! I LOVE being with my grandparents! But it always sucked going home because of the constant fights with my mom and the uncomfortableness with her boyfriends. Of course, like Isabella’s mom. They were her top priority. Only one time did one try to touch me. I was 13-14? I’m not sure but I was in 8th grade. I told my mom right away and the only response I got was “Did he think it was me?” I still haven’t forgiven her for that. She made him apologize and he continued living in my house (Oh how much I wish I had a JK as a best friend during those times)

I moved out when I was 16 to live with my grandparents because we lost our house. My mom, sister, niece and nephew went to go live with my mothers parents (I am not close to those grandparents) And I went to go live with my favorite grandparents (My dad hasn’t been a constant part of my life for a while now) Everything was going great! I was going to school regularly and I also got my first job at the mall! Which is where I ended up meeting my first serious boyfriend.

Put it in short words, I had found my own Landon! He was sweet, charming, older. He worked in the food court restaurant, just a few stores away from my job! I was 17 and already dropped out of school and was working full time when we started officially dating. He was 20. Everything was going great but it was all moving so fast! About 3 months into our relationship he got an apartment and I moved in with him. The first few months were amazing. We had privacy, and a lot more time to spend together. What 17 year old didn’t love the idea of having their own apartment and living with their boyfriend?! I guess the age difference made it more easier to excuse his now ‘protective’ behavior.

By the time I was 18, I had met sooo many people, especially at work. I had more adult friends and occasionally they would ask me out to hang out with them and have girls night! He did not like that. He was so worried that while i was out with my friends he would call me every 30 minutes to make sure I was okay and to also ask what i was doing. Despite him going out almost every night with his brothers and friends to bars. Eventually It got to the point he never wanted me to go out at all and if i did, I wasn’t allowed back home. I was young so I stupidly let him have that control over me.

3 years later. We are still together. I turned 21 and couldn’t even go celebrate because I was pregnant. But I was happy. During those 3 years he had only become more and more mentally abusive. He was manipulative, insecure, possessive. And it took me to be pregnant with his child to finally acknowledge that. But i stayed because? I was pregnant. I didn’t want my child growing up without a father and I also didn’t want her to have parents that fought all the time because they hated each other.

Skip to after giving birth. I quickly learned he was not interested in playing the dad role. He would work and come home and play video games all night. We didn’t have anyone to watch the baby so i couldn’t work. He was not happy about that at all. After constant fights and learning he was spending his money on drugs and alcohol (despite always complaining about being broke because he had to support us), I realized I wasn’t in love anymore and told him I wanted to leave. It wasn’t a safe environment for my child and I had to grow up and realize it’s not just about me anymore but about my child. That night was the first and last time he every got physical with me. And I can proudly say that was the night I packed my bags, left and never looked back.

All that happened almost 2 years ago. I am now 23 and have a 2 year old. Things are different now and I feel like its in sync with amended’s current story line. All though I don’t have my Jk yet. I am dealing with the difficulties of letting my daughter have father time. The only reason he is in our lives is because I don’t want my child to hate me for keeping her away from him. I do get along with him, but only for my daughters sake. And because he knows this, he uses it to his advantage. Knows how to push my button and get inside my mind, especially with letting him come see her or letting her go visit him. He even has the crazy girlfriend who doesn’t like me! Lmao. I don’t let my child be alone with him though because I don’t trust him enough to watch over my child. He still wants to live that carefree life and loves being able to hand me back my child when it gets too much for him.

But that’s okay with me, because I will gladly take my child back. Right now, I’m getting my life back together slowly. But after reading your story, it has helped me realize my life isn’t over yet. I can still do things! When I am ready to meet someone, I definitely want to find someone like amended JK. Not the marriage and arrangement part lol but a man who wants to take care of me and my child and supports me and will have my back no matter what. Someone who can help me say no even when I feel like i can’t. To protect me from my Ex the way JK protects Isabella from Landon. I relate to this story so much, and I think you write it beautifully. I just wanted to say thank you for the words you write and for giving me an escape, especially when things have gotten a little too rough. It always so nice to relax and read one of your stores (:

Since you said I could, I’m going to answer this publicly. Because one thing I do see in reader response is often this big divide (not ALWAYS but often) between readers who have or have not been in abusive relationships, and readers who are or are not parents. And I think it’s actually really important and healthy and it was a reason I decided to post this story, because these are things that so completely change your mindset and outlook on life, but they can be really difficult to understand if you just don’t have that experience. I wanted to use Amended as an opportunity to make people stop and think and understand situations they (hopefully!) are not in themselves, or if they ARE in, have the opportunity to seeing someone grow through it and find love and security and happiness on the other side.

There are lots of my own experiences, doubts, struggles, and pains wrapped up in Isabella’s story too, though not necessarily 1:1. Sometimes they were situations or relationships I didn’t have much of a choice in (like with a bad dad), but other times they were things I could have and should have left earlier and I didn’t (like an abusive ex that I didn’t live with, didn’t have children with, separating should have been easy.) What I’ve taken away from it is that we are strong and adaptable and we go through life making the best we can and adapting to situations, and that can bite us in the ass sometimes when we adapt to situations that we should be adapting away from. But it can be so hard to do that! I think people forget too that love isn’t always logical but it can be a hell of a jail when you love someone who is hurting you. “Giving up” on someone to save yourself is really, really hard. Like couldn’t someone make the case that JK should haven’t to deal with Isabella being mean to him and should just leave? Where do you draw the line? It’s so hard!

I just want to say HUGE kudos to you. Your daughter is so lucky to have a mom who has not only done such incredible and difficult things at a young age, but that fact that you also make things harder for yourself (in having to still deal with your ex) to try and make things the best for her. Especially when you had a difficult home life... probably my love for Isabella shows already how much I love and admire you and your situation and all the women who have been in similar situations. You clearly had to grow up so so young and that sucks, that’s so unfair for you. I wish I could give you back more of the childhood and adolescent that were stolen from you.

You are helping me remember too why I like to write about moms. There is not as much media as  there should be about moms where they are still the star of the story. When I had my son I realized with shock that to a lot of the world, my life is over as an individual now. That’s bullshit! The start of my son’s life story doesn’t mean the end of mine! It doesn’t mean I just become a side character in his story! It just means there’s a new sub-plot in the story of ME, and I can continue to reinvent and discover myself over and over for the rest of my life. We have to break free of this idea that mothers are nothing but mothers, and this idea that 30 or 40 or 50 are too late. Because the reality is sure, once you become a mom, sometimes the me stuff is on hold for a while in order to survive, and sometimes you’re mostly wrapped up in the mother role, and that’s totally fine. But it’s definitely not over. It’s never two late to get to “start” your story, or “restart” your story. I’ve found that often when I’m in the middle of things being hard it feels like the chance will never come, but it will, and it won’t be too late! It sounds like you are kicking ass for yourself and your daughter right now, and how incredible that she’ll grow up seeing that strength and resilience.

Favorite character: Guy of Gisborne (who else? I blame Richard Armitage, Sarah Kennedy on radio 2 for planting the idea in my head, and my easily swayed 12 year old self. But also he's a good fucking character lol)

Least favourite character: uhhh as a *character* probably Robin. Literally such an arrogant piece of shit who rarely acknowledges his own privilege (when it comes to his gang and the fact that he's a noble and they're...not) or his own faults. And we're still meant to see him as the ultimate good guy/hero. Pass.

5 favourite ships:

- Guy/Marian (I want to be clear though, this is one of those ships where the character dynamic is absolutely fascinating and a joy to watch, but I honestly don't think it actually becoming canon would be a) a good story or b) good for either of them)

- Guy/Allan (just. I fucking love how Allan gives no shits and treats Guy like a normal fucking human. He calls him Giz! And that dream Guy has about both Marian AND Allan massaging his shoulders while sweet talking him...I'm just saying. Anyway as opposed to Guy/Marian I actually think these two are good for each other and I wish their dynamic had been explored more, especially when Guy joins the outlaws in s3 but it's not explored *at all*)

- Marian/friendship with any female character. Fucking seriously. Let her vibe with Djaq (although ig I hc Djaq as nb. Any non-male character then) and bitch about the boys. PLEASE. She needs it.)

- Marian/Allan friendship (I'm realising doing this that I care far more about the friendships in this show than the romantic relationships. But seriously, these two people are in exactly the same position in opposite sides ie spies for the various teams, and that's fascinating, especially as Allan still protects Marian/has her back after he's found out. They probably kind of mildly dislike each other at first but it's bc they see a lot of their worst selves in each other. But honestly together these two can rule the world with banter and pure deviousness)

- Much/literally anyone who respects and values him as a person I'm begging you pleassssee (seriously, he gets this for like half an episode with Eve, which is lovely, but then it's back to being the butt of the Gang's jokes and Robin's punching bag/servant/""best friend"". And when Much wants any kind of display of friendship and affection from Robin, Robin makes fun of it and acts like it's such a chore. Ugh.)

Character I find most attractive: Guy of Gisborne started off my lifelong Richard Armitage obsession so it can't be anyone else. That is a beautiful, beautiful man. Marian is also gorgeous.

Character I would marry: Djaq or Much

Character I would be best friends with: literally all of Team Castle - Guy bc he badly needs /someone/ to be his friend (although I doubt he'd let me), Allan bc he'd be hilarious, Marian bc we could bitch about everyone and just have some good times. Ultimately Allan is probably the kind of person I'd be most likely to befriend irl.

A random thought: @Robin King Richard sucks bro and when he dies Prince John is gonna be king anyway, monarchy as a concept sucks anyway, consider dismantling it instead of putting all your faith in things getting better when the king returns

An unpopular opinion: I actually don't hate s3 the way much of the fandom seems to? Yes it was a trainwreck (hello? Have you watched this show? The whole thing is a trainwreck) and I hate that Marian died but I do think it went some interesting places we hadn't been before, especially re Guy (who lbr is the character I care most about). Don't get me wrong, it didn't do it very well, but I rewatch it more than s1.

My canon OTP:....uhhhhhh....does Guy/Marian count?? They're not really an OTP anymore though (although they used to be when I was like. 13.) They just have a cool dynamic.

My non-canon OTP: Guy/Allan ig

Most badass character: Marian, 100%. Especially s1 Marian. Icon. Queen of guerrilla fighting and sassy comebacks and saying fuck you to men.

Most epic villain: I guess the Sheriff? Idk about epic but he is the epitome of cartoonishly evil, which is fun to watch. Love to hate him.

Pairing I am not a fan of: Robin/Marian 🤢🤢🤢 (not saying it's bad if you ship it lmao, Robin is kind of a dick but it's more I can't stand how unbearably cheesy it is)

Character I feel the writers screwed up: What character DIDN'T they screw up? But I feel like they screwed over Isabella the worst. They made her seem unreasonably evil when her anger was entirely 100% valid and fair.

Favourite friendship: None of the friendships I actually enjoy were written to their full potential. But I guess Guy and Allan?

Guy of Gisborne:

How I feel about this character: my terrible overdramatic emo son. Wish he could have had a proper redemption arc without killing Marian.

Any/all people I ship romantically with this character: Marian and Allan. And I guess Meg for the brief moment in time where that was a thing.

My favourite non-romantic relationship for this character: I know we only get a hint of it (and she dies) but I love Guy's relationship with Ghislaine. I just feel like they had such a loving relationship and then it all went to hell :( I also kind of think both Guy/Marian and Guy/Allan might work better/be more interesting as friendships

My unpopular opinion about this character: tbh in this fandom even liking him is an unpopular opinion to a lot of people 😂 I think if you took away the sheriff, he'd treat Marian better than Robin treats her (I mean, in some ways he already does but also like...he burns her house down soooo)

One thing I wish had happened with this character in canon: oh boy so many things. But the two places my mind goes most often are 1. Escaping the castle (with Allan and/or Marian), probably after Treasure of the Nation (ie my favourite RH episode of all time) and either joining the gang (equal parts hilarious and angsty) or starting a life somewhere new, away from all this bullshit and 2. Just more gang shenanigans after he joins them in s3. We had some, which was great, but I would have love to see more, to see him grudgingly becoming the weird ex villain friend and then actually building relationships with some of the gang

Favourite friendship: Allan

My crossover ship: Guy + therapy (also I'm sure I've thought about this before but I really can't think of a good answer). Maybe Eleanor Shellstrop (as friends)? I feel like that would be a fun dynamic to explore.

how do bucky and leila get along? how does her presence affect the way steve and bucky interact during tws and cw?

Oh, I LOVE this question. So I’ve always seen Bucky and Leila as having a sort of antagonistic relationship at first, mostly because they’re lowkey fighting over who Steve loves more lmao. At this point, though, I see this toned down a bit on Bucky’s side due to Anya’s presence. 

Without Anya, Steve is basically Bucky’s only link to the present, and seeing him building a life with someone else, moving on from their shared past, makes him feel lost, like he has nothing to hold onto. 

With Anya, though, by the time Bucky meets Steve again as himself in CW (or rather, in Under Siege, which is my replacement plotline for cw--it still achieves the end goal of splitting up the avengers, but goes about it somewhat differently), he’s gotten attached to Anya, and they’ve sort of become each others’ anchors. So Bucky is less dependent on his relationship with Steve to ground him in the present.

Still, I do think there is some tension between the two because of their respective relationships with Steve, which I’ll get into in a second. First, TWS: Leila’s presence doesn’t really change anything about Steve and Bucky’s interactions, simply because Steve and Leila for most of the movie aren’t on good terms. Not only are they not together, there’s actively some bad blood between them, and Steve in particular is very distrustful of her to the point of questioning whether she’s actually Hydra. (Leila replies by implying that he’s Hydra--”someone as self-righteous as you could justify just about anything to himself, don’t you think?”--although it’s more out of spite than any real suspicion.)

This dynamic continues up until the end of the arc, where Leila risks her life by giving up her healing ability to help stop project insight. (I’m still fuzzy on the details here, but that’s the basic premise for her redemption.) Between this, and Leila telling him about her past, it’s the turning point for their relationship; they become friends again, start growing closer, they help each other grow (for example: Leila is the one who talks Steve into telling Tony that Bucky killed his parents), until they eventually, finally, get together in AoU. 

But none of that exists in TWS yet; whatever friendship they had pre-C:SW has basically been shattered, and they haven’t started repairing it. So Leila’s just not a big enough factor in Steve’s life at that point in time to impact how he relates to Bucky. That doesn’t come in until Under Siege, whether Steve and Leila are together.

I think that at that point Leila in particular has a lot of insecurity over Steve’s past life--part of her feels like she’s a consolation prize, that Steve’s life with her and the Avengers is just some fluke and he was really meant to stay in the 1940s and have a life there. And having Bucky around just compounds that for her. She’s scared that Steve’s going to realize that Leila isn’t good enough compared to what he could have had, and that he’d rather be alone than be with her. 

(It’s funny because Steve, meanwhile, by this point is pretty convinced that him going into the ice was destiny, or God’s will, or something, specifically because it brought him to Leila, and Bucky re-entering his life really only makes him more sure of that. I like Steggy a lot but I think Leila forces growth in Steve that Peggy never really did, and I think Steve is aware of that. All he’s ever wanted was to be a good man. Peggy helped him believe he could, but Leila makes him better.

So that’s Leila side of things that makes her vaguely cold towards Bucky. Then on Bucky’s side, it’s toned down like I said due to Anya’s presence in his life, but he still feels a sort of discrepancy about how Leila factors into his relationship with Steve--like, if Steve’s managed to move on so much, does he actually really love Bucky? (Platonically or otherwise, your choice.) Bucky knows it’s irrational but it’s a neurosis he has trouble shaking. Bucky and Steve were the most important people in each other’s lives for a long time; Bucky only broke free of Hydra because of Steve. And yeah, he’s happy that Steve found someone to ground him, that he found happiness, but it’s still hard. 

(It’s funny because Bucky has this part of him that thinks Steve stopped caring when in actuality a lot of how Leila and Steve got close in the first place was through Leila helping Steve look for Bucky. They probably wouldn’t have grown as close as they did if Steve didn’t care as much about Bucky as he does.)

Bucky could probably muscle through it if Leila wasn’t like, weirdly cold to him though, because he doesn’t know why. It never even occurs to him that //Leila// could be jealous of //him//. This tension causes them to start snarking at each other, while Steve tries to keep the peace between them, because this is the love of his life and his best friend and he wants them to get along so why won’t they just cooperate. It’s frustrating for him. 

Eventually this tension is somewhat resolved when they’re forced into hiding. A big part of it has to do with Anya. It’s a weird trait for a spy/assassin to have, but Anya’s very good at resolving tension and keeping the peace, and she’s hard not to like. She and Leila end up striking up a friendship, and from there she manages to mediate between Leila and Bucky, and they eventually reach a sort of understanding. 

I think, eventually, Leila and Bucky manage some semblance of friendship, although neither would ever admit it. They bond over having been brainwashed and feeling guilty over things they’ve done, and they have similar senses of humor as well. They keep snarking back and forth, but the malice behind it kind of disappears. 

This all happens very gradually and Steve isn’t sure how it happens or what to make of it, but he is grateful, although he still wishes they’d bicker less.  

(Plot point: I could see this mutual tension getting to the point where Bucky says something to Leila that’s way over the line, and Steve sticks up for her, which causes Bucky to storm off. Steve would also stick up for Bucky if it was Leila that went over the line, but I don’t think she would, not out of principle or anything but because she’s just that terrified of losing Steve. Bucky, for all his insecurity, knows that he and Steve will always be in each others lives, even if their roles change; whereas there’s still a part of Leila that thinks that Steve’s going to realize he can do better and leave her.

This plot point could be the catalyst for Bucky and Leila finally finding some peace, though, because there was a point where Leila did lash out like that, and she can definitely understand where it comes from, and I think, weirdly, whatever Bucky said to her ended up humanizing him to her a lot.)

By the time IW rolls around, they’re on good enough terms that Leila mourns him when he gets snapped. And by the time Steve and Leila get married after Endgame, she trusts him enough to let him be present for the wedding--the actual wedding ceremony, that is, not the reception. Plenty of people are invited to the reception; the actual ceremony itself is, at Leila’s demand, extremely small, consisting of Steve and Leila, the priest, Sam and Bucky on Steve’s side, and Tony and Anya on Leila’s. (And possibly Isabella; I’m still deciding.)

Anyways. As for how Leila impacts Steve and Bucky’s relationship in Under Siege: I think Steve’s attention is kind of split between them, whereas in cw he was pretty hyperfocused on Bucky, in US he’s also focused on trying to figure out what’s going on with Leila and why she’s acting so cold. I think there’s also already some tension between Leila and Steve bc the accords, while not as big of a factor, do exist, and while Steve is steadfastly against them under any circumstances, Leila has suggested that if the plan to sidestep them doesn’t work, they should try to negotiate a better deal out of them (not accepting them as they are, but trying to work with them). 

(I think these responses come down to this: on Steve’s side, I think the Hydra thing left him with a lot of moral injury, and that’s why he’s hesitant to operate under another organization--he’s not even thrilled about the Avengers answering to SWORD, and only really agrees to it because he trusts Leila, who helped build it. 

Part of Leila takes that personally, she feels like Steve not trusting SWORD means he doesn’t trust her, and part of her thinks that maybe he’s right not to. Leila herself has a lot of moral injury, because of the things she’s done but also stemming back to her childhood and how she was talked to and about, and ideas she internalized--and part of her still thinks she’s not capable of doing good. 

On Leila’s side, I think she’s just desperate to keep the team together because she doesn’t quite know what she’d do without it. I don’t think she’s aware that that’s her motivation, but it is a big part of it. It also goes back to the moral injury thing--Leila finds solace in the Avengers because she feels like working as a team, she’s able to do good, and she’s scared she won’t be able to be a good person without them.)

So Steve’s attention is somewhat split between her and Bucky during US, which only leads to more insecurity on Bucky’s part. 

I think? This answered your question although I know I rambled a lot lol sorry. 

Tl;dr:

-Bucky and Leila are initially threatened by each other’s relationship with Steve so they have a relatively cold, snarky relationship

-Eventually this comes to a head when Bucky crosses a line, and it weirdly makes Leila see him in a new, more sympathetic light, which helps them find some common ground. 

-Anya also plays a role in them developing a better relationship. 

-Leila doesn’t really change Steve and Bucky’s dynamic in tws, because she and Steve aren’t on good terms at that point. 

-In Under Siege (the replacement arc for Civil War), the big change is that Steve’s attention, instead of being hyperfocused on Bucky as in CW, is split between the two of them, which only causes more jealousy from both of them.
