I know this is probably something that is probably well known and stuff, but does anyone else find Youtube censorship kind of annoying? Like some of it is understandable, but it feels problematic when I'm watching a video and every other word in a sentence is being cut out or censored.
Curse words. I understand. Slurs. I understand. What I don't understand is bluring bisexual simply because the word sex is in it. If one is discussing pedophelia, they have to censor it, and personally I don't agree with it. Maybe I'm in the wrong, and being overtly sensitive, but I just can't help but feel annoyed by it. Especially when I watch some channels who do biology breakdowns and they have to censor the gore of the admittedly violent scenes being analyzed. It just rubs me the wrong way, and I feel bad for the creators who have to censor such things because Youtube won't monetize their videos otherwise.
It's starting to become bothersome to me, and youtube in general is starting to become problematic, I know, but I just wanted to voice my thoughts.

all hate to tiktok for taking 'having a space to more openly and actively talk about different cultures' to mean 'cultures are NOT to be shared and we must be vigilantly defensive of our cultures for fear of appropriation, a word that can be applied to any multicultural interaction'. like of course cultural appropriation is a very real problem but ive seen with the access to global multicultural conversation that tiktok provides it's made people TERRIFIED to even interact with cultures other than their own for fear of 'doing it wrong'. like at some point you have to acknowledge that in the real world of the great outdoors, the majority of people are eager to SHARE their cultures. yes there are ignorant questions and biases but also... how do you think those things get unlearnt? i dont understand how deciding that multiculturalism is an elephant in the room instead of a normal thing that should just be talked about and lived with is supposed to benefit anyone? and kids on tiktok are CONVINCED that it's a time bomb of a conversation to have and therefore must be avoided at all costs but like. people generally LOVE their home and their culture and are PROUD of it and want to share it. how have we made it so that showing genuine interest and a desire to understand something so integral to a person's identity is now feared and borderline demonised?

i have an actual vicious petty anger for the "celsius vs fahrenheit discourse" (and general discourses for metric vs non metric system) cause it literally just boils down to people being unable to fit in their heads the idea that different people from different cultures will do things a different way, and the way they do it feels right and natural to them, and doesnt mean the one YOURE used to is the best one??? i literally feel like im going insane cause i dont know why thats even a thing people care to discuss

one thing that always irks me is when people put the blame for a female character who is written kinda wonkily on like, a random ass character in the narrative. the one i see most often is aegon iii and jaehaera which also ties into how deeply unserious most fandoms are about children in general because people get genuinely angry and call aegon a ~villain~ all because he...just doesn't care for jaehaera? they'll see him offering up her toy, his last connection to his short lived marriage and this strange little girl that reminded him of the worst moments of his life, because it's the only childish thing he has and it's the only bit of affection he has left to offer and they're like "obviously this is the toddler's fault" bud..........i don't know how to tell you that a lot of people in arranged marriages were Disgruntled But Dealt With It. not every arranged marriage is going to lead to love, in this specific case it's almost certainly not going to lead to love, and maybe we should put the blame for jaehaera's treatment on a) the regents aka the adults actually in charge of her care and b) on GEORGE.
same way whenever people get kinda deranged about daeron and naerys for the way the bracken women are treated. like yeah, actually, i think it's fine and good that daeron overheard his shitty dad's mistress make a tacky ass comment hoping his mom is going to die and went "actually you can get the fuck out" like i am not about to cast stones at aegon's mistresses for coping badly with a bad situation but it is perfectly normal to hear your dad's side piece say some shit about your mom and tell her to fuck off. maybe we shouldn't be getting absolutely fucking deranged that naerys reacted badly to some of her husband's mistresses too, even, given that she is ya know, going to die of marital rape and never actually has any power whatsoever to negatively affect the lives of these women and in fact all her son is ever able to do is just be like "you're tacky i hate you go home" to protect her!! george is the one who can't stop sexually humiliating bracken women, not the other woman who exists to be sexually humiliated, please i am begging you guys to engage critically with the text!!!

It irks me when people shit on Goro and the argument on why they're doing so makes it feel as if we didn't play the same game at all. It's even worse when people shit on him just to start drama because they know he's a relatively popular character.
I honestly don't care if you dislike Goro. It's entirely valid to feel that way towards him. He's an antagonist and it's natural that it'll happen, and even if he wasn't sometimes people just don't vibe with a character and that's completely okay. I have characters I feel that way towards, and some of them are main characters depicted as the "good guys." You're not going to like every character you come across no matter what their status is in the plot.
But here's the thing: you don't have to be an ass about it. There's respectful ways to dislike the character even as you talk about them in public spaces. You can be critical of the character without actively hating on people that do like/enjoy them. Post a thoughtful discussion!! Or better yet if you really hate the character and have nothing to say but you just wanna piss people off? Keep your mouth shut!! Complain in private!! Just don't be an ass by targeting or attacking the people that like the character. It serves no purpose and it doesn't make you look cool.

You know with Sisyphus I DO actually take some ire with how he's depicted in canon too. Not enough to point out usually but this has been building up for a while.
In the game itself he's portrayed in contrast to Minos in his terminal entry and it outright says,
"Though Minos was intelligent and persuasive, he was also a gentle and noble man. Such values mattered little to Sisyphus, who would gladly lie, cheat or kill if that's what is needed to protect his comrades."
He's portrayed as the opposite of noble and gentle Minos. Sisyphus is also the only non-white character. He is also the biggest character in the game, towering over every single white and raceless character such as machines.
I'm not saying the devs are raging racists or anything, but I do think it reflected some unconscious biases on the dev team. Normally I can tolerate it. Most series have unconscious racism, sexism, etc. To Ultrakill's credit its not even that bad compared to a lot of other series.
But as a person of color in this fandom it hurts when people lean into it. Depicting him as more violent than he is in canon, or fans judging him harsher than the white or raceless characters, and so many other little things that usually I'm too scared to bring up or say because I know how fandoms treat POC who point out things like these. It just sucks seeing people lean into things like this when they don't have to

Has anyone noticed that in most stories (whether on TV, movies, book series, etc), the most popular/iconic ships are usually the most toxic?
Either that, or they start out healthy and cute and then become toxic as time goes on lol.
Idk, it's just something I've seen a lot. I'm sure there are a couple of exceptions tho.
