All of the morning underclassmen had safely arrived at Gwen’s favorite library. Once they stepped inside the creepy, haunted-looking building, they each went to look around by themselves.
Jenna, being the bookworm she is, quickly made her way to the poetry section and picked out a couple of books to read. “I can’t believe I’m about to read this! It’s always been a dream of mine!”
Ian walked around and stopped at the children’s area. “Hmm.. Old ass children’s books? Count me the fuck in.”
Cruz picked a random book and quickly sat down to read it. He wanted to get through one book and get to take a deeper look around the library.
Victoria went straight to sightseeing. “Damn, these scrolls look old as fuck!”

no way those 8 episodes would have done anything to advance anything
They wouldn’t have done anything! Just like the five episodes from the backend of S3 wouldn’t have done anything! I don’t understand how people still eat this bullshit up. Jenna and Bill are quite literally incapable of telling a good story. They aren’t good writers, objectively speaking. They basically open up a bunch of random plot lines and then don’t finish them, they just drop them halfway through.
Examples:
Dean cheating on Beth. His cheating was not the catalyst for the robbery in S1. His financial negligence was. You could remove the cheating completely and the story would remain the same. Then he cheated again, with Gayle, and once again - nothing came of it. In the end, Dean was the one who left Beth.
The shooting - Rio was shot three times and left for dead, this should have been a hugely important point of conflict for them to the very end. That is not something you just get over. It was mentioned a total of two times by Rio after it happened. There were never consequences for Beth, Rio didn’t have any scars, and he apparently just got over it without so much as an apology or a confrontation.
Boland bubbles - gone within like two episodes and never spoken of again
Fake cancer - This was one of the biggest storylines they were building in the first season and it was completely dropped for no reason
Annies dreams of being an EMT (you could also include her GED in this) - Annie took her GED with the sole intention of becoming an EMT, she found something that could further her life, something she could be good at, and wanted to pursue it. She passed her GED this season, but nothing came of it. I don’t even think the word EMT was mentioned in s4.
Annie and Kevin was really pointless because she ended up going to jail anyway. The entire therapy storyline, also pointless because she jumped right into the situation with Kevin.
The MLM storyline was a complete waste of fucking time. They didn’t need to add that in in order to create a catalyst for Dean leaving Beth. He was literally arrested because of her, that was more than enough. Instead they were wasted half the season on another pointless storyline.
The entire hitman plot, waste of fucking time. It didn’t build to anything. Beth had Rio kill Fitzpatrick but there was no fallout. Beth had literally spent an entire season trying to murder him after already trying to murder him in 2.13. This should have been the catalyst for major conflict, a huge confrontation about all the shit they had done to each other, instead it was swept under the rug.
The Secret Service catching the girls was pointless because none of them actually faced consequences because of it. Dean was arrested, but the entire plot was nonsensical and they didn’t need to add in an entire new plotline for that to happen. The dealership was raided at the end of season 2 and they could’ve literally had Dean arrested from that. Once again, we had an entire season (almost 2) focused on a storyline that didn’t really amount to anything. Yeah, Nick got arrested but the Secret Service didn’t need to catch the girls for that. They could’ve compiled the evidence and sent it to the FBI or the Secret Service (like they did to Rio) without actually having been caught themselves. In the end, we’re supposed to believe that the Secret Service would just fuck off and leave Beth to run her criminal empire. Pays to be white, I guess.
Rio‘s family and his blood relation to Nick was absolutely inconsequential. Meeting his family didn’t change Beth’s opinion of him. Being related to Nick didn’t impact the direction of the storyline because they never truly fleshed that out. We don’t even know whether it was brother or cousin. Nick could’ve been anyone. He was just presented as an oppressive force in Rio‘s life, but it didn’t matter that they were related.
Rio being arrested in 4.07 amounted to nothing. Apparently this was to prove that a councilman has magical powers to spring him from jail, but they never really circled back to it and there were no consequences.
I could carry on but I think you get the point. Essentially, you could take any of these storylines out and the direction of the plot wouldn’t change because they don’t mean anything. Instead of focusing on keeping storylines strong and truly developing their characters, they give us bullshit. These idiots couldn’t write a good story if you paid them, oh wait - they literally get paid for this and they still can’t do it right🤣

About Rio’s boss and Fitzpatrick
I thought more about this and until I am proven wrong I am dying on this hill (maybe). They teased a juicy love triangle and then Fitzpatrick shows his feelings for Beth on episode 1. And we know for a fact that he knows Rio’s schedule down to a tee maybe it because they actually work together and it would explain further as to why he hasn’t killed Rio yet. And he was “away on business” around the same time Rio was looking all stressed.
I mean Krebs said this:
“KREBS: We're also going to learn where the mystery of Rio originates. He's the bad-boy criminal who never gets caught, he always has the answer, he lives in this frictionless world, and now Beth starts to see behind the curtain a little bit and learn that he might not be alone in what guides his decisions. That sets up a nice, juicy love triangle.”
He added, "What we end up discovering is that part of the reason why he’s been so smooth is he was influenced by someone else in his life who is also a part of his crime ring and will ultimately end up being a part of a love triangle between Beth and Rio and this other presence."
Unless I am missing something they don’t make it clear that it is a whole new character just that it is “someone else”. And maybe the reveal that Rio isn't pulling all the strings makes Beth sympathize with Rio more. It could also unite them against a common enemy or at least bring in a brand new dynamic which ties into what Bans says here:
“Additionally, Bans teased that this love triangle dynamic combined with the audience learning Rio's origin story will ‘complicate their relationship and sort of elevates them to a different place than the audience has ever seen them.’”
Also we have these quotes from the end of season 3:
“We love the Beth-Rio relationship, the push and pull. And we were going some really, really sort of interesting juicy ways with that, in the last five [episodes]. So, regardless of what happens, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of him.” - Jenna Bans
“And I think one of our biggest regrets of where we were going in the last five episodes is they've been so adversarial this season with him wanting to kill her because she shot him, and then she was like, "The only way to not get killed is to kill him." They've been at each other's throats for 11 episodes. The last five were really going to take us in a new direction. We were going to, and still will in the opening of season 4, throw them into putting that adversarial weaponry aside and having to begrudgingly work together in a way that they haven't before.” - Jenna Bans
The Fitzpatrick Reveal could have definitely moved towards this. I mean what else would stop Beth from going at Rio’s throat after 11 of episodes of trying to kill him? It also would explain why the hitman plot seemed to drag. We all know GG likes a juicy ending and it would have set up an interesting finale. Season 1 and Season 2 both ended with Rio and Beth very much on a different page. A Season 3 ending with them both against Fitzpatrick would be something that we never seen before. We have never seen Rio and Beth team up against the same person.
Season 1: Beth was unwilling to pull the trigger on Rio in a Beth and Dean VS Rio showdown
Season 2: Saw Beth against Rio because she finally saw how she used him in a Beth vs Rio vs Turner showdown
Season 3: Beth and Rio on the same side. Rio and Beth vs Fitzpatrick showdown
I guess unless Fitzpatrick is the character death that they teased, which could be possible, I think if written right this would certainly be quite the cliffhanger if this reveal was supposed to be season 3 finale. It would also be pretty shocking and humorous  for Beth and the girls to realize the hitman they hired has Rio working for or with him.
But I could also be very, very wrong and I didn’t rewatch season 3 so my memory about everything we know about the hitman is not the best.
Anyways to the three people that may read this, what do you think? Am I bonkers?
I ran with this thought because I read it in a comment somewhere else. Here is the original post I read that put this thought in my head. I also found additional support for this theory. Read it here.

What do you think would've happened for them to both rethink their feelings for each other (based on what Jenna said). I'm wondering if Beth was really going to save Rio, surely that would shake things up.
It’s definitely a possibility!  Beth saving Rio would force these two into a different dynamic, but I’m just not sure we would have gotten there in the last five episodes especially since Beth has been so hellbent on killing Rio for the last six or so episodes.  There would have to be some basis of trust or desire on Beth’s part to save Rio and it just isn’t there right now even if Beth’s soft spot for Rio seems to be re-emerging.
I think the show was finally moving into placing Beth and Rio as “reluctant allies” for the last five episodes (and probably into season four) who are forced to work together in light of new threat against them both and this pressure forces them into rethinking who they are to each other.  It’s not Beth vs. Rio, suddenly it’s Beth and Rio vs. the new threat and it would be no surprise that it makes either of them question what they’re doing with each other.
And at first I was leaning towards this new threat possibly being the FBI, but a lot of the post-season three interviews with Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs seem to indicate that Phoebe will be more a benign antagonist (if that’s even the right word) who becomes more interested in the girls themselves than the crimes they are committing.
So instead I think there are two likely candidates that force Beth and Rio have to work together: Fitzpatrick or Rio’s bosses/a rival gang/whoever Rio has a debt with.  Both could propel them together, but I kinda think the latter option could be the most interesting.  Especially since it would help to contextualize Rio’s comments in 3x06 as this show rarely does those kinds of throwaway lines while also serving as a callback to Rio’s comments about a turf war in 2x08 (yes I know I always go back to that line haha)
That being said - a lot can change over the course of five episodes, so the show could have introduced a brand new character/situation that none of us could predict (especially since Jenna Bans mentioned in an interview that they had barely hinted at how Annie’s S3 arc ends).
All I know is I would love for this show to introduce a new element of the crime world and I can’t wait to see what Beth and Rio rethinking their feelings looks like!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Yep, I’m posting that cliche post that I’m pretty sure a lot of bloggers are going to be posting today. I wanted to do a post where I mentioned YA romances but then I got lost because I didn’t know which category to write it on. I didn’t know if I wanted to make contemporary romance or fantasy romance or adult romance. So I decided to do all three. A category for each and every single one of you single people out there, just so that you don’t feel as lonely. You are welcome.
Thursday Thoughts are going to be the posts that I would be posting on a Thursday if it’s not a review. Just as FYI. I’m not sure if this has been created before, but if you guys want to go ahead and join, then please do so.

I wanted to write a description for all of these but the post was going to be too long, so I decided to give you the titles and the authors instead. However, I truly encourage you to look into these books because they are very good! The ones that I really wanted to bring attention to were the adult ones. They have adult sexual content, only for readers 18 years old and older. And say what you say about 50 Shades, I loved the whole series so much. Also, can someone recommend me something similar to the Fever Series by Karen M. Moning?
Anyways, this is my recommended Valentine’s list for you guys to read. If you have a partner then read them for fun like I do. I hope that you find your new favorite romance from this list and if you do, please let me know down below. I would like for you to give me recommendations for any more books you think I should add to this list. Have you read any of these books before, if so, which ones did you like and which ones you didn’t?
Thank you guys for taking to the time to read my post. I truly appreciate it.

The lights had gone out and the ones on the second floor all gathered around.
“So like.... The fuck?” Victoria scratched her head and began to squint her eyes to be able to see who was around her.
Ian laughed. “You’d think since they’re old fashioned or whatever the fuck that they would have candles!”
“Guys... we should go look for the others...” Jenna’s voice was heavy with worry. Even thought she wasn’t at the lock down, she knew it was very similar to this current event.

1/2 the way jenna and bill talk about rio bothers me so much. i've never seen them refer to him and the brio relationship without slipping in that he's a "bad boy" and beth likes him because he's so "sexy" and has "smoulder". and now that last ch interview where again it's like "he's a mysteryous bad boy, that's all we're interested in telling in the show". which, i mean, fair. but it makes me so uncomfortable?? especially bc there's no white guy being only "sexy" to balance it out, like, for
Tumblr media
Just realised that the top paragraph of this got deleted when I posted, no idea why. It said something along the lines of: I agree, the way they constantly pigeonhole his character with these labels makes me really uncomfortable, especially because they don’t do it to anyone else.
I don’t think they initially planned for Rio to have a son or to give him any of this background, I’m pretty sure he was supposed to be gone at the end of s1. It definitely feels like Marcus was added in as a last minute thought, which made the reveal pretty fun, I can’t lie. But the only reason I feel like they did that is to make him a more suitable love interest for Beth, because it shows that he can still be a family guy, to an extent.
As for the comparison with how quickly we’ve learnt things about Fitzpatrick, for some reason the writers seem to think that keeping a character mysterious means that the audience can’t know anything about them and that’s just not true. You can show the audience so much of a character and still keep a veil of mystery in place, all it requires is decent fucking writing, so I’m sick of that excuse as well.
Bottom line is, the reason he hasn’t been fleshed out his because they don’t care about his character, it’s really that simple. And for anyone who tries to deny it, if they did care about him, 2.13 would never have happened🙃
S3 and Beth’s behaviour towards him made me rethink a lot of stuff I previously felt about their dynamic in S2. So yeah, I’m pretty inclined to agree with you, I don’t think it was ever more than sex for her and it’s going to take a lot to convince me otherwise.

Do you think there will be flirtation with Brio this season, but nothing more? Based on the new trailer, I feel like Beth is really over Rio.
I’m pretty sure something’s going to happen between them again, anon!
It makes sense for Beth to still be feeling over Rio in the trailer – it’s likely footage from only the first five episodes (if not less), and there’s a lot of conflict to work through after the end of s3 between Lucy, Boland Bubbles, Fitzpatrick and the girls’ stake in their own operation. That’s a lot of tension, a lot of plot, and a lot of gristly angst!
Jenna’s talked quite a few times about not wanting relationships to be the same every season, and I think she does a pretty good job of staying true to that – relationships evolve and new facets are explored, new beats emphasised – and I don’t think the antagonism of s3 between Beth and Rio is going to be repeated long term in s4. (I say long term, because I think we do need to remember that they were cut off at the knees in s3 and they’re going to need a bit of room to tie up those storylines before launching into the broader s4 conflict).
I don’t think we’ll ever see full-blown traditional romance between Beth and Rio, but I think the show has well and truly committed to exploring their dynamic and their connection. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again here – if they’d wanted to kill the ship, they had the perfect opportunity to do so after 2.13 and they didn’t. S3 kept Beth and Rio’s intimate history extremely close to the surface, and I don’t see that changing. I’m just curious as to how it might evolve!
