Hello! I just wanted to say that I absolutely love all your Jedi photo mode pictures! It's been really cool to learn from you and your process. I had started to play around with the photo mode and I was mildly interested, but I understand it so much better after visiting your blog. I've tried to apply what I've learned and I think my photos have turned out SO much better, and I'm having so much more fun with it! Thanks for sharing all your beautiful pictures and tips!

I'm glad you're having more fun with photomode!! And glad to hear my tips have been helpful :) Earlier this week someone on Twitter said "I just wish Jedi Survivor had more longevity" and sure, we aren't adding any DLC or live service stuff to the base game. But I think virtual photography really extends the gameplay and allows you to capture your own experience as Cal Kestis. It's something unique to the Jedi series that other Star Wars shows/movies can't offer.

There's definitely a learning curve, and it helped me a lot to see other people's photos when I was first starting. Turns out most IRL lighting techniques actually work in this digital space (kudos to the Respawn developers!) and that's made a huge difference in my own work. Feel free to ask any specific questions and I'll try to explain best I can!

what do you MEAN I have to pay big company $360 a MONTH to see my doctor once a year. and you're not even going to cover my prescription???

#btw if you don't have insurance and you go to like a private practice for your pcp #they usually have visit discounts that like still aren't great #but where they would normally charge insurance $800 (bc they know insurance will pay without question) they might only charge you like $150 #so the fact that i have to pay JUST IN CASE makes me so mad #let me give my doctor $300 next February and we'll call it even. no insurance and if i get hit by a bus it can just be taken care of #right. right.#mine #i literally got a full time job specially to get health insurance. otherwise i would've stuck with my multiple part time jobs #you know. to keep things fresh #instead i have to work full time AND find my own insurance after you told me during the interview i wouldn't have to?? disgusting

I JUST GOT A CALL BACK FROM THE JOB I APPLIED TO AAAAH I’M SO EXCITED !!!! THEY’RE GONNA PUT ME IN TOMORROW ALREADY I’M SO. HAPPY. OMG.

#they said they’d call people in to work after three weeks but I got this call FIVE DAYS after the interview !!!!!!#I’m so happy they literally said I left a good impression on them !!!!!!! I thought I did bad but they liked me !!!!!!#younger me would be flabbergasted to know how excited I am about getting a job in a grocery store but I’m over the moon #Literally me ideal workplace at the moment #SO happy I don’t have to go back to the summer job I had last summer bro omg.#gonna be awkward to call them back though cause I’m already on schedule to work for them this summer but this other job seems 10x better #AND the new job is a 10 minute bike ride away from home !!!!!#The old job was like. a 40 minute commute. over an hour total.#I had no life when I worked there I’m so serious I’m SO grateful I got this other job #now I just need to lock in and be on my best behaviour tomorrow since it’s just practice #but I probably got this in the bag trust

#I'm still waiting for the formal offer letter but let me tell you how i got this job #a hiring manager reached out to me on LinkedIn asking if I'd be interested in the team he's building #so i was like yeah I'll throw my hat in #i had an easy coding screen with him (valid palindrome lol)#then i had a screen with another manager around QA practices #then i went through four more interviews as part of a 'final loop'#one was a more difficult coding question. one was design a test framework. one was QA-behavorial #and the other was communication + collab behavorial #each of those six interviews was a 45 minute video call btw #this all took like. three months lmfao #then a week after that i heard back that they didn't want me for that role #but that one of the guys i interviewed with is a hiring manager on an adjacent team and he really liked me #when i looked back at my notes sure enough that guy is the one who ended our call with 'i hope i get to work with you!' lol #so they wanted to put me for this other slightly less technical role #and i was like yeah sure why not i liked that guy too lol #so the next day i had one final interview with a senior leader asking about my priorization and conflict resolution skills #which makes sense since this is a more cross-functional communication role with lots of talking to developers #and that guy was awesome and definitely someone I'd work for #so a few days later i got the verbal offer!#i will also add that during all of this i also went to the final stage for a different team at the same company #but was plain out rejected from that one lol #plus i did beginning screens for two other roles as well and didnt make it as far #all this to say i did like... over a dozen interviews with this company since October lol #and i studied like CRAZY. i spent hours on leetcode and hours putting together stories from my experience #i worked very very very hard and it finally fucking paid off!!!!!#back in october i said to my wife 'i want to get a job at (company). i think that will be my goal now.'#and she was like lol ok. but i kept getting interviews and studying for them #working harder than i ever did in college even lmao. and she was like oh wait you're really serious #and then she helped me sooooo much by taking care of the kids while i studied and stuff like that #but yeah i did it. i put my mind to it and i fucking did it!!!!!

Me going into that interview powered-up from all the luck and well-wishes from my family and friends like:

#i talk #job talk #I think it went really well!#Despite my body and brain self-sabotaging me by keeping me up until like... 3:30 am last night #The biggest mark against me is the fact that I don't have tons of experience managing a specific program platform #but I (a bit belatedly) reminded them that I have tons of experience doing website management (including our company's website)#so maybe that helps???#There were 3 interviewers which would've been stressful (even if that seems to be the norm now) but I knew all of them #Like. I don't know them SUPER well but I DO know them. As in we've all met and there's no bad blood or anything #So that helped a LOT #Me on my hands and knees like: Please let this be a nepotism hire I need a better paying job so frickin bad #It's hilarious (but mostly extremely depressing) how the first interview I've gotten in YEARS after hundreds of job applications—#—is only because it's for a job at a company I already work for. What a mess. And I have almost 10 years of experience in my field #Anyways. It was a virtual interview but I still put makeup on so A) They don't see how dead I look #and because B) My eyeliner really makes my expressions more visible #I actually never wore eyeliner until I started teaching online during the peak of the pandemic / lockdown #I made the same discovery that my eyeliner really makes my expressions more visible and I look friendlier #Which I think helped since my students were all Going through It (I mean; we all were; but good god lockdown was bad for the kids)#So now I just kinda always wear eyeliner when I do makeup. I could probably do it thinner but I'm too lazy to re-learn it #Makeup is an expensive art form but I admire anyone who is dedicated to the practice. It's really cool seeing people do it!#Anyhoo back to work #gif warning

just wanted to say thank u so SO much to all of u for being so kind and encouraging on my post abt unemployment woes/interview anxiety last nite... just finished up talking with the hiring manager a little bit ago and i am absolutely THRILLED because IT ACTUALLY WENT VERY WELL!!! i won't know if i got the position until later this week but they literally said that i was their top candidate so that's a good sign... im just so glad i didnt give into the unrelenting anxious urge to just ditch the interview entirely but i pushed thru it anyway and i am actually like proud of myself for doing that :) will post updates when i get a call from them sometime this week

#even if i dont get the job it was great interview practice cuz i am sooooo rusty and they always freak me out lol
