I want to believe this did not happen. I want to believe that no one could be this moronic, that anyone could think the original idea, had it been accomplished easily, was charming and impressive, rather than eye-rollingly showy and infantile. I want to believe such ghastly hubris would indeed bring them crashing down like a fiery, vomiting Icarus. But if I believe this story, i might just lose faith in my fellow human beings.

Please take this seriously.
I am now at a stage in my career (read that as old enough and lasted in my job long enough) to sit on the other side of the table at interviews and the piece of paper we scribble on literally has a list of keywords and phrases that you need to say.
At the end, we add up how many points you got. It's like an seo keyword generator. Yes, it is that crude.
Research the job, research the company, get the keywords and phrases. Practice job interview techniques and follow the instructions. You will pass most interviews, even for jobs you know nothing about if you just know the technique.
This is big company though, the smaller the company, the more wild card the interviewer.
remember that interviews are not about giving a good and honest first impression that they'll carefully consider. interviews are about saying the special words and phrases they're looking for that give you points and when they tally those up whoever earned the most job points wins

My favorite part of that article where Assad and Eric say that the editors are part of the devils minion agenda is that Eric goes on to say that his strategy for acting as Daniel Molloy is to. Not. Hes like yeah no im not good enough at acting to actually act. I just sit there and watch Assad and Jacob and have genuine reactions. Those guys are really good at their jobs so they actually think about what they're doing. But not me. He just sits there and channels Daniel Molloy into the real world.

Can we talk about Sam's vocal technique? Sure this is a studio recording but postproduction can do just so much to a voice for it to sound this good, right? Dynamics for example are almost entirely up to the singer's ability and Sam is SO GOOD. He does 57 different things in one verse. Goes from breathy to full to vocal fry seamlessly. Uses all kinds of expressive variations to create drama from singing through griding teeth to making a loud squeak while adding so much nuance to every single one of them like the half brat/half animalistic final growl and it's only 1:30 minutes. Remember some people doubting Rockstar Samstat cause he isn't a tenor. Well, they didn't know what baritone Sam Reid is capable of, or David Bowie for that matter

I wish we still had DVD special features.
Like as a kid, when I had a DVD, I would watch the crap out of the "making of's" or like interviews with the costume designers/production designers/animators - whatever.
I loved learning about the movie making process, because as a kid from a middle class family, smack bang in Australia, Hollywood felt like the furthest place on earth to me. I loved seeing all the artistry about how they built the world, how the costumes and makeup came together to make the characters feel lived in, how the actors developed their process - it was fascinating to me.
Now everything is on streaming and the production process is so obfuscated and intangible and I hate it.
I want to know how the sausage was made, and I still crave a hot dog.

interview — Bass Singing Central podcast with Geoff Castellucci
youtube
When many performers suddenly found themselves with unexpected free time, a lot of them turned to online outlets for their creativity. Professional gospel singer Matt Fouch reinvigorated his interview series with other basses, and reached out to one of his most requested guests. They chatted about Geoff's history as a singer, techniques for improving various aspects of performance, the people who have inspired him, the joy of reaching new audiences (and astonishing them with those low notes), what drives him as a musician, his favorite pieces to perform with VoicePlay, and the tutorials he'd been releasing over the past few months.
release date: 28 April 2020
