Inspired by @omittedharpy's post: "Julian having to deal with reporters calling him trying to get interviews after DBIP."
And @justsomeskullkid's tag: #Do you guys think Jake was insufferable about it?
--
Fic where, after DBIP, Jake wants to write an article about Julian. But given how his last experience of interviewing Julian went, he doesn't want to outright ask him at first, so he starts off by taking up Julian's offer to learn fist aid and how to help out in the infirmary, so that he can get his background thoughts for the article via close observation.
He broaches the idea of an interview after he hears Julian groaning dejectedly about yet another reporter contacting him, and that sparks an idea. He suggests that if Julian agreed to do an exclusive with his paper, then his paper could deal with the other reporters trying to get an interview. And Julian at this point is really fucking tired of fielding all these calls so he agrees. Jake kind of seems the lesser of two evils at this point?
(Knowing Jake, I can actually imagine him going to his editor first and claiming he's got an exclusive - and then later when Julian resignedly agrees "Okay, you can tell your paper I'll do it," Jake pulls out a PADD with the paperwork Julian needs to sign with a sheepish "Actually, I kind of already did?")
So, Jake's got permission to write the article, but when he sits down to plan out his questions, he finds that he seems to have become almost a little protective over Doctor Bashir? With how much he's been watching him, Jake's ended up noticing how much Julian's been affected by all this, and he finds he actually doesn't really want to make Julian answer a load of questions about what his parents had done to him.
So to Julian's surprise, when he sits down with Jake, he finds the interview is mostly about his work as a doctor - in a way, the kind of article he assumed Jake was going to write in Nor The Battle - with only a few light questions about the enhancements. Jake wraps it up, and Julian's like "That's it?!" and Jake just shrugs and tells him that if he thinks of anything else he'd like the public to know to just send it over, and he'll happily add it to the article - his deadline isn't until the end of the week. But adds that, otherwise, what they've got seems enough for him, and that he doesn't want to waste any more of Doctor Bashir's time.
And it's kind of worth it for the way Julian looks at him before giving him the softest, most sincere "Thank you, Jake" he's ever heard.
--
"...From our conversation, it's clear to me that Bashir's incredible skill as a doctor comes not from his genetic enhancements, but from an abundance of compassion and dedication to his patients..."
The article, unsurprisingly, is not exactly what his editor had been wanting, but nonetheless it does eventually get published. Unbeknownst to Jake, however, Julian starts receiving multiple requests for follow-up interviews, almost more aggressively than they were before, tantalised by what little had been said about his enhancements.
But, somehow, they don't seem to bother the doctor as much as they had before. And, even though it's stored word-for-word in his memory, he keeps finding himself picking up his PADD and clicking through to the article he's saved on it. He thinks he's closer to happy than he has been for a while.

The Art of Love Chapter 1
******
Summary: You've been an art therapy teacher at an elementary school in Musutafu, Japan for the past eight years. One day, you are introduced to a new student named Eri, who comes with a lot of past trauma. While you help Eri move past her trauma through art therapy, you end up getting to know her caretaker, Shouta Aizawa, who ends up slowly opening up your heart back up after your own past trauma. Could Shouta be the person to fully open your heart back up, and possibly even fall in love?
******
Pairings: Shouta Aizawa | Eraserhead x Fem!Reader
******
Warnings: There will be fluff, there will be angst, there will be smut. Any chapters containing smut will have a NSFW disclaimer at the beginning of the chapter. And please bear with me if anything I say about art therapy is incorrect throughout the story; I promise it's only due to my own lack of knowledge on the subject. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the profession and the folks who work in it <3 Oh, and yes, before anyone asks, Kento is most certainly based on the other LOML, Kento Nanami from JJK. I have no shame.
******
(Concise) Definition of Art Therapy:
Art Therapy is an integrative mental health and human services profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through active art-making, creative process, applied psychological theory, and human experience within a psychotherapeutic relationship.
Art Therapy, facilitated by a professional art therapist, effectively supports personal and relational treatment goals as well as community concerns. Art Therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change.
- The American Art Therapy Association
******
You have been an art therapy teacher for elementary-age students for the past eight years, and you loved every moment of it. You genuinely loved enriching the lives of young minds through art therapy; it was your truest passion in life. Since you were born Quirkless, you always wanted to do something good with your life since you couldn't be a pro-hero. At a young age, you learned that you loved drawing and painting, and you were very good at it.
You continued to love art as you got older, and when you graduated high school, you went to college where you got your Masters degree in Education, with your major being in Fine Arts. It took you over a year to find a job, which was a grueling time for you. Art therapy teacher gigs were pretty difficult to come by. You had to move back in with your parents, where you worked dead-end jobs just so you could begin paying your student loans back.
A little over a year later, you saw a job posting for an art therapy teacher at Musutafu Elementary School, an opportunity you jumped at. You always wanted to work with children, specifically, and thought this could be it. You went through many rounds of interviews to make sure you were the right fit, and eventually, you got the job. And that is where you have been for the past eight years.
Over the course of those eight years, you went through many changes in your life. You remained at your parents' home for about a year after you graduated so you could save money between the job at the school and your part-time job working as a server at a fine dining establishment. Eventually, you saved up enough money to put a down payment on your dream home right in Musutafu.
It was also around that time that you started dating Kento, who you eventually fell in love with. Kento was tall and was very handsome with his sandy blonde hair and warm brown eyes. Most importantly, though; he was good to you. It was quite easy to fall in love with him. After two years of dating, he got down on one knee and proposed to you, to which you happily said yes. Things were good: you had your dream job, your dream house, and your dream man. You were happy.
A month before your wedding, Kento was walking home from work when he got caught in the middle of a villain attack. He got stabbed by a villain just before the pro-heroes arrived on the scene. He was rushed to the hospital, where they did everything they could to try and save him, but sadly, he lost his life. To say you were heartbroken and devastated would be an understatement; you just lost the man you were going to spend the rest of your life with. At his funeral, you decided right then and there to close your heart off to relationships; no one would ever compare to Kento.
After taking a month-long leave of absence from both the school and the restaurant, you decided that you needed to get back to work. You still mourned for Kento, but you knew him well enough to know that he would want you to get back to work and help your students. You quit your restaurant job, and focused your entire life on teaching and helping your students, where you still remain to this day, several years later.
Today, you were getting a new student. Her file said that her name was Eri; odd, she had no last name. Her file also stated that she has been through extremely traumatic events for the majority of her life. You teared up reading her file. For a seven-year old girl's life to be nothing but traumatic was heartbreaking. You were already looking forward to being of help in the healing process of young Eri.
******
To be continued...

[2024.11.01] AERA x Yuzuru Hanyu Photobook "Shin" - Interview
Tumblr media
— In the sports world, people often say that "heart, technique, and body" (Shin-Gi-Tai) are very important. Among these, I’d like to hear your thoughts on something related to "heart."
YH: Of course! Thank you for your support!
— First, I want to ask, in the Q&A of this photo book, you said, "If the feedback is not good, I only think that 'my effort is not enough.'" This statement left a deep impression on me. Some performers believe that if their work does not receive good evaluations, it is due to a lack of understanding on the part of others. They think the problem lies with those who do not understand. Your perspective of thinking "it's just that I haven't tried hard enough" feels like pointing the blade at yourself rather than others.
YH: I actually don't know how to think "Why don't people understand me?"
— So, you mean this is a matter for the performers, and it’s their responsibility?
YH: From the perspective of a performer, if we delve into what we want to express, I think it stems from having something we want to convey and hoping others can understand it in some way. We aim to communicate these ideas. If they are not conveyed, I only see it as a shortcoming in my method. People are different, and everyone has various interpretations of what is "impressive." So, I know it’s impossible to communicate with everyone. However, I still hope to reach as many people as possible, and I want anyone who sees it to think, "Ah, this is what it is." That’s what keeps me motivated.
— Some people might think, “Even if I can’t make everyone understand, as long as one person gets it, that’s enough.” Your thoughts seem to completely contradict this idea.
YH: Of course, I have thought, "As long as I can convey this feeling to one person who is moved by it, that’s enough." However, if that "one person" could become everyone, then I would indeed be very happy. For example, if 70% of the audience understands, but 30% feel left out and bored, then I would think, "My performance didn't cater to that 30%." Therefore, I believe that while I strive to enhance the purity of my emotions, I must also develop expressive techniques that resonate with that emotional purity. Take, for instance, a manga artist who has created a popular series spanning 20 volumes. If they start a new series that fails to gain popularity and gets cancelled, such a situation is quite likely, isn’t it? Because the voices of readers will not lie. The same goes for us—if no one is watching, we can't continue. I think that’s the structure of society. Even if you work hard to present what you believe is the best, if society doesn’t recognise it, you might feel, “I’ve worked so hard, yet I haven’t conveyed anything. That is too unreasonable!” The world is full of such experiences. However, I think this unreasonableness ultimately comes down to my own efforts not being thorough enough, or not mastering the correct techniques for communication, which leads to the message not getting through.
— You hold such thoughts and feelings, and to convey them, you also need to improve your skills. As a performer, your strict attitude is evident. When did you start to have this mindset?
YH: It might be due to my personality, or perhaps it has always been this way. For example, if you fail a jump in a competition, do you blame others? No, right? Similarly, for me, if the ideas I want to convey are not expressed, it equals failure. This failure is not anyone else's fault; it’s my fault. I'll think "maybe my timing was wrong" or "maybe I was too forceful in my performance." I see it as my own responsibility.
[It is because of the pain that it feels real]
— Taking the example of the comic you just mentioned. If the message isn’t conveyed, attributing it to the reader's lack of understanding shifts the responsibility onto others. I think, in a sense, this is just finding an escape for oneself. If you believe it’s due to insufficient personal effort, then it leads to personal suffering, doesn’t it?
YH: Yes, it does. But it is precisely this pain that gives a sense of reality. If you immerse yourself in a lukewarm hot spring, you won't really feel like you're in a hot spring, right? Of course, I believe there should be an appropriate temperature, but only when it reaches a certain heat can you truly feel that you’re soaking in a hot spring, warming up and feeling happy. Similarly, in daily life, if you stay in warm water too long, you’ll just end up feeling more and more swollen, and ultimately, there’s no sense of feeling alive or the reality of effort. I think it can become that way. It’s precisely because there are times that are very cold and times that are very hot that I become aware of moments like “I’m experiencing a hot moment” or “I’m currently in cold water.” This awareness allows me to truly feel the reality of my efforts.
— I can sense your desire to convey something to many people and your pursuit of expressing your ideals. You’ve mentioned that this ideal is constantly advancing, and I think this progression is closely related to your capacity to receive various stimuli. From what sources do you gain this stimulation?
YH: For example, from ballet and dance-related content, and more broadly speaking, from novels, the feelings conveyed by photographers, movies, anime, and so on—everything can stimulate me. In a sense, I think news is also a form of expression. For instance, when a major disaster occurs, the way the message is conveyed and received can vary greatly based on the content and the method of delivery. Even if the facts remain unchanged, the understanding can differ entirely depending on how it’s conveyed, right? I believe this applies to skating as well. Suppose I’m performing a sad program; if a smile appears on my face, how would that be understood? Some might think, “That’s inappropriate for the performance.” But if that smile comes after transcending sadness, it might be interpreted differently. If I can reach that point, I think both my technique and mind would have improved further, allowing me to convey it.
— In other words, everything can serve as stimulation for your performance and ideals.
YH: That’s true. It's the same with the trivial things in daily life. If I consider everything that enters my eyes and ears as part of my expression, I can repeatedly recognise my shortcomings and constantly discover areas where I haven’t done enough. I live in this awareness every day.
— While receiving such stimulation, your ideals are continuously developing. At the same time, I feel that your ideals should be things you envision for yourself or are based on yourself. However, when your ice performances achieve such great success, external expectations like “I want to see something even more amazing” can also increase. Does this create pressure and inner conflict for you?
YH: The pressure is immense… Every single time, I try my best to show something that "there is no better than this", so if someone asks me if I can show something that surpasses that in the next moment, I can only say that it is not so easy to do. For example, in "RE_PRAY," if I deliver a perfect performance on Friday, can I surpass that by Sunday? It’s impossible to surpass it just one day later. I put in over a month of effort for that Friday performance to finally exceed my previous performance, yet I’m expected to outdo myself within a day or two. This terrifies me. I become so nervous that I can’t eat and my body trembles. This happens often. But I just realised that when I think about my ideals, the standards are indeed based on myself, but I believe that is “the version of myself that everyone expects.” The evaluations are not my own but are based on how others see me, which becomes my standard. Regarding what you mentioned about using others as punching bag when what you want to convey is not understood, attributing the failure to communicate to the audience's shortsightedness, I believe that everyone’s evaluation is my evaluation. It’s wrong for me to assess myself independently. I think only when I achieve results and receive good evaluations can I tell myself, “You’ve worked hard.” Without these, I think I could never truly feel that I’ve put in enough effort in my life.
[Every day feels like a last-minute effort.]
— You place great importance on communication and understanding. If you fail to convey something well, you see it as your responsibility.
YH: While preparing for performances, even if I work hard, if I don’t receive good feedback in the end, I’ll feel like "I thought I was trying hard." I’ll think that my efforts were meaningless. With all sorts of information coming in, I continue to grow, and my ideals evolve too. I believe that the point where my personal ideals intersect with everyone else's ideals of Yuzuru Hanyu is my target. My self-assessment and my current position are shaped by others' evaluations. I’ve been striving to exceed both my own ideals and everyone’s ideal.
— These two ideals continuously intersect, and striving to position them at a higher point and surpass that must be incredibly challenging... especially when you bear all the responsibility.
YH: Perhaps it’s just in my nature, so I don’t find it strange. In fact, pushing responsibility onto others would cause me more pain. Blaming others or attributing my incompetence to them in an attempt to escape makes me feel even more pathetic. I don’t want to feel guilty, and maybe that’s why I keep working hard. When I fail to meet others' expectations, I feel extreme disappointment in myself, and I work hard to avoid that feeling.
— In a sense, do you feel like you’re constantly being pursued?
YH: That’s why I’m scared. I think humans are like this. For example, during hunting, if you’re not in a state of fear or pushed to your limits, adrenaline cannot be released at 100%. In other words, it’s this constant sense of fear that keeps me driven and striving. This has probably become part of my personality. Some people have experienced this, others may not. It’s like when you’re in school and have a test coming up, only to find out the night before what’s on the exam, then frantically studying last-minute... that’s how I approach skating and training every day.
— Lastly, I want to ask you, on December 7th, you will be turning 30. How do you feel about transitioning from your 20s to your 30s?
YH: I’m gradually understanding what kind of person I am, realising the strength of my will and the things I want to do. My core is becoming clearer. The things I can do are also increasing, and I feel like I’m gradually climbing the ladder of adulthood in my own way. However, as a performer and skater, there is also a part of me that is free-spirited like a child, which is very important. As I approach my 30s, I want to learn how to switch between being an adult and a child. It is important to have both sides. As an adult, I want to stand firm and strong. But I don’t think I can skate on my own. It’s truly because of the support of many people that Yuzuru Hanyu exists. So, I absolutely don’t want to become complacent. In this sense, I want to be an adult while continuing to embrace my inner child.

Severance S2 Theorising as of Ep5
Miss Wong is part of a new phase of severance technology and I do NOT think she is a CLONE. The first wave are our current employees, who also appear to be people who desperately wanted to be severed (Mark) OR who couldn't get a job elsewhere (Dylan (lots of short term employment, bad at interviews), various elderly people like Burt (ageism) and potentially PTSD or mental health issues that their innie wouldn't have (Irving, the goat people - goat people may also be homeless/former addicts given their sun damage and evidence of sores). The new phase is 'making their own' - i.e. severing children already indoctrinated by Lumon - possibly children CREATED under severance as per the S1 pregnant innie scandal and the severed pregnant woman - if for example you were severed to have your baby...would you even know they took it and told you it didn't make it?
Miss Wong could also be just a child in a Lumon home, and instead of going to school, she is severed every day. The thinking being that the earlier you can start conditioning an innie, the fewer issues you will have with them.
Mammalians Nurturable could literally be about dairy - Lumon likes to keep things in house - even the manufacture of their DOORS. And offices consume a lot of milk in coffee. Goats being easier to keep inside than cows, who require more space. They could also exist just to confuse innies who go exploring. The tanks referenced could imply the goats are genetically enhanced and grown artificially (not clones, cloned livestock is a terrible idea, see monocultures/plant cloning).
Dylan's job seeking experience shows how severed people are discriminated against and that outies may have almost as little choice about staying at Lumon as their innies. That severance is a way to keep employees from leaving.
Kier and his philosophy is far reaching in society and not just inside Lumon. There's something very soviet about the imagery used of him, and the near religious loyalty expected towards this company founder goes beyond even America's current adulation of the rich. Possibly because of Kier's success with providing water.
Outie Helly seems to have been conditioned and tightly controlled and fears her father even when she is not responsible for a mistake (like innie Helly's outburst). She continued to return to Lumon even after nearly DYING and possibly that was not souly her decision. Pretending to be innie Helly is likely the first time she's been free to associate with people who don't know her real identity as 'holy' Egan, and to mock the ridiculousness of the weird cult around her family. Given her fascination with Mark and Helly's kiss, she may never have kissed anyone before, or has never had control over her romantic life. Whilst she is complicit in the evils of Lumon, I think she's also a victim of her family. Further from this....
Innie personalities seem to not be independent of their outies inner nature, despite lacking the nurture component. Mark is still mild mannered and passive, Dylan is naturally quite lazy and unmotivated and likes the status quo, it's only the Lumon structure that lets him succeed where his outie has failed. Irving despite drinking the Lumon koolaide has an anti-establishment streak, a sense of justice and an appreciation for art reflected in his music tastes and artistic skill. Therefore I think Helly fought so hard against her innie status because she has a wilful and independent streak that has been crushed by her family. Innie Helly is a 'true version' of who she would be without the Egan influence.

💬 OSEN: Kim Yoonhye’s Challenge, Including a Same-Sex Kiss Scene with Jung Eunchae... “‘Jeongnyeon’ = A New Beginning”
On the 19th, an interview was held at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, with actress Kim Yoonhye, who played Seo Hyerang in tvN’s weekend drama Jeongnyeon, which recently concluded. Based on the webtoon of the same name, Jeongnyeon is set in post-Korean War 1950s Korea and depicts the story of Jeongnyeon (played by Kim Taeri), a natural-born vocal talent aspiring to become the best national theatre actress, amidst competition, camaraderie, and her brilliant journey of growth.
Kim Yoonhye, reflecting on the conclusion of the 12-episode series with its final broadcast on the 17th, said, “Because the preparation period was so long, I felt very regretful. While watching the last episode—this doesn’t happen often—I teared up a bit. I felt regret and a lot of emptiness. It’s a work I loved so much and felt so much affection for that I even thought, ‘I want to film it again.’”
Jeongnyeon achieved its highest viewership rating of 16.5% with the finale, bringing the series to a successful conclusion. Kim Yoonhye expressed, “I felt proud because I thought this drama was unique as the only one in Korea to feature female national theatre as its main subject. I loved the project, but I didn’t expect it to receive so much love. It’s a refreshing and captivating subject that everyone would find appealing, but since it’s unfamiliar, I was unsure how viewers would perceive it. I was surprised by the overwhelming response, and hearing from those around me that Jeongnyeon was being so well-received made me happy.”
Kim Yoonhye joined Jeongnyeon through an audition and played Seo Hyerang, the “princess” of Maeran National Theatre Company, known for her unparalleled dancing skills. She shared, “From May of last year until May this year, when we filmed The Fool and the Princess, I learned dance and vocal techniques. It wasn’t easy, but since dancing was important for Hyerang, I focused heavily on it. Some days, I practised for up to nine hours straight with my instructor. Since I performed the dances without a double, I wanted to ensure they were convincing to the viewers. So, outside of the assigned practice time, I rented a rehearsal studio to refine my drum dance and sword dance, putting in a lot of effort to perfect them.”
Regarding the preparation process for national theatre performances, she said, “When given the script for a national theatre scene, we would meet and build each scene step by step. There was a director specifically for the national theatre, along with dance and vocal instructors, and we had extensive discussions on how to express the vocals and which movements suited the scenes best. Since it’s national theatre acting, I tried to make it feel natural rather than overly dramatic. Hyerang had many solo performances, so before filming those scenes, I would try on the costumes, dance, and check for any discomfort in the movements, revising as needed to enhance the quality,” she explained about her meticulous efforts.
Tumblr media
After immense effort, Kim Yoonhye successfully delivered the stage performances of Jamyeonggo and The Fool and the Princess in Jeongnyeon. She said, “I was deeply attached to Jamyeonggo because it included many solo dances. Since the stage had to be filled entirely with just me, the drum, and the sword, I was extremely nervous. I had to rely solely on my practice without help from anyone else. Although I felt great affection for it, the pressure was equally overwhelming. I even felt like crying after it ended but held back because I didn’t want to seem overemotional. While the pressure was significant, I also had a strong determination to succeed. For the drum and sword dances, as well as the solo dance Hyerang performs in Episode 2 in the courtyard, I thought, ‘By the time I shoot this scene, I need to be skilled enough to confidently wield the drumsticks.’ I worked hard with the goal of becoming fully comfortable with it.”
Given the historical setting of the drama, considerable attention was paid to styling. Kim Yoonhye shared, “For my eyebrows, I wanted to convey the feeling of an actress from that era, so I trimmed them thinly into a seagull shape and drew them on. There was much discussion about Hyerang’s signature hairstyle—whether it should be short or long. At the time, my hair was cut short, so I used hair extensions to create a more elegant look. The national theatre makeup took two hours to complete, as we focused on emphasizing its glamorous qualities. The hair, makeup, and costumes were beautifully crafted by the costume team, making the process enjoyable.”
Reflecting on her experience of numerous challenges and attempts through Jeongnyeon, Kim Yoonhye said, “I had never acted on stage before, but I found it charming and fun. It made me think I’d like to try stage acting if I get the opportunity in the future. While it was a great experience, there were also regrets. Watching the drama, I realized how beautiful and complete the entire stage was, which made me feel like my acting was lacking. I kept thinking, ‘I could have done better.’ I wish I had moved and expressed myself better—it’s something I regret.”
She candidly continued, “I felt dissatisfied with everything. Maybe because I was watching myself, I felt that early on, Hyerang didn’t seem to fit her proud and elegant demeanour. When the character started showing emotional changes, I think I became more flexible and was able to express her better, but until then, I felt some dissonance. Overall, I feel regretful. Since Hyerang had limited screen time, I worried about whether I had conveyed her well enough to viewers. I didn’t want her to appear as a flat, one-dimensional character. Hyerang’s attitude changes depending on who she’s interacting with. I wanted to portray those subtle emotions, but I feel I wasn’t able to do so effectively.”
In the drama, Seo Hyerang commits misdeeds out of obsession with her position as the “princess” of Maeran National Theatre, going as far as ruining Yun Jeongnyeon’s voice. Kim Yoonhye acknowledged that Hyerang’s actions are “inexcusable” but admitted, “I wanted to make Hyerang understandable, and that’s why I wanted to take part in Jeongnyeon.”
Tumblr media
In particular, Seo Hyerang’s obsession isn’t limited to her position as the “princess” but also extends to Moon Okyeong (played by Jung Eunchae), often interpreted by some viewers as having queer undertones. Regarding Hyerang’s feelings for Moon Okyeong, Kim Yoonhye explained, “It’s a part that viewers can interpret in diverse ways. Depending on their perspective, any interpretation could be valid. However, while acting, I thought of Okyeong as the reason Hyerang exists.”
She elaborated, “When Hyerang started national theatre and became the top actress, Okyeong was always there. Without Okyeong, Hyerang felt like she herself didn’t exist and that she had no place in national theatre, which is why she displayed obsessive behaviour. There may be various interpretations of their relationship, but for me, I acted with the thought that Okyeong was Hyerang’s soulmate and pillar of support.”
Despite her extraordinary talent, Hyerang’s insecurity manifested in sensitive reactions. Kim Yoonhye explained, “I think Hyerang couldn’t trust herself. Even though she was highly skilled and performing well, she couldn’t see it and was fixated on the idea that ‘I have to be in that position,’ and ‘Okyeong and I must be the prince and princess.’ She clung to this idea so much that she couldn’t take care of herself. She thought, ‘Only if Okyeong is the prince can I be the princess, and only then can I exist.’ She could have stood on her own, but she placed her identity entirely on Okyeong, which led to her obsession.”
Interestingly, according to the uncut script for Jeongnyeon, there was a kiss scene between Moon Okyeong and Seo Hyerang following the performance of The Fool and the Princess in Episode 10. However, the kiss scene was not included in the aired version. Addressing this, Kim Yoonhye carefully said, “We did film that scene. We shot several versions, and I believe the production team chose what they felt was the best one.”
Despite the efforts poured into Jeongnyeon, concerns arose from fans of the original webtoon prior to the broadcast. These included the exclusion of significant characters like Kwon Buyong and the condensation of 140 episodes into a 12-episode drama, which led to mixed reactions about story and character adaptations. Kim Yoonhye responded, “While the webtoon has important characters, certain modifications were necessary when transitioning to a different medium. As the director mentioned at the press conference, they tried to incorporate (Kwon Buyong) into other characters, and I think they did that well. I wasn’t particularly worried or bothered by it.”
Regarding the open ending of the drama, which differed from the webtoon’s neatly wrapped-up happy ending, Kim Yoonhye shared, “I liked it. Jeongnyeon’s brilliant journey of solidarity and growth ends with her becoming the new prince and receiving applause. The characters support each other, Hyerang steps back to watch the stage from the audience, and I thought it was beautiful. While it’s an open ending, I felt hopeful that they would continue living their lives and performing in national theatre, with Jeongnyeon remaining the greatest prince of the era. I personally found the ending warm and uplifting.”
Kim Yoonhye described Jeongnyeon as “a new beginning.” She reflected, “Through Jeongnyeon, I was able to try so many new things. I’ve done smaller projects before, but I feel like Jeongnyeon allowed me to showcase a lot more. I think it will be a source of pride in the future that I was part of such a unique and captivating drama. Acting in such a compelling story and character made me truly happy.”
As she wraps up her challenge with Jeongnyeon, Kim Yoonhye looks forward to meeting viewers again in the SBS drama My Perfect Secretary, set to premiere in January. Comparing the two projects, she said, “The filming for Jeongnyeon overlapped with My Perfect Secretary. Since the characters were so different, I told myself not to slack off on preparation, especially during Hyerang’s emotional scenes. Although it wasn’t physically or mentally exhausting, I was determined to do well. In My Perfect Secretary, I play a lovable, cheerful, kind, and warm-hearted character. It was a big shift, but I had fun with it.”

Michael Sheen urged to make Welsh National Theatre 'bilingual' in landmark review
The majority of contributors to a review of Welsh theatre have called on Michael Sheen to make his new Welsh National Theatre a bilingual company.
The Arts Council of Wales-commissioned review was carried out to consider the current provision of English-language theatre in Wales and how best to support creative skills and talent in this area for the "benefit of artists and audiences throughout Wales and beyond".
Though not included in the 25 recommendations to ACW from the review, conducted by author and broadcaster Jon Gower, "most" of its contributors favoured a bilingual Welsh National Theatre with performances in both Welsh and English, which they said would be more accessible, "cohesive" and "exciting".
Sheen’s plans so far suggest he intends to champion English-language plays, and has founded the company as "separate but complementary to" national Welsh-language company Theatr Cymru. He is due to reveal further details of his plans this week.
In response to the recommendations, ACW is putting together an "action plan" for English-language theatre, with the review also flagging widespread anxieties including a lack of provisions for new writers and a lack of large-scale work.
Informed by more than 120 "revealing" interviews with figures across Welsh theatre, recommendations made to the funding body include "specific funding deadlines" for productions.
The review was conducted at a significant juncture for English-language theatre in Wales, following ACW’s decision to cease National Theatre Wales’ annual funding in late 2023. Sheen’s new Welsh National Theatre was launched during the review, in January 2025.
One contributor said: "If you had one single National Theatre of Wales – with two separate public facing brands, but the same organisation – I feel like there might be a bit more cohesion, consistency and benefit and have more people accessing and enjoying work through Welsh.
"And I don’t personally think that would cause a threat to the well-being and the celebration of Welsh language that Theatr Genedlaethol (now Theatr Cymru) exists to serve.
"For me, a National Theatre for Wales is a multilingual company that operates across the country," they continued, adding: "And it’s something that makes Wales quite unique. A bilingual company working at that scale could be globally exciting."
Another respondent said: "Reimagine a bilingual national theatre company."
Others raised concerns including a shortage of producers, an "invisible", "under-celebrated" canon of Welsh writing and fewer larger-scale productions due to lack of funding and "financial fear".
"The arts in general in Wales and in England has become really territorial," one contributor said. "It’s incredibly difficult to find access to scale."
Another lamented the lack of opportunities for new writers, telling Gower: "In Wales there’s no clear progression. If I’m in London, I can send a play to the Royal Court; they might put me on their writing scheme, I’ll then go to a studio play at the Bush, then I might go and work at Hampstead or the Kiln, then I might go to the National. You can climb the tree, whereas here there’s no tree."
Based on an online survey and more than 120 face-to-face meetings, Gower’s review made 25 recommendations to ACW, including:
Specific funding deadlines for theatre productions.
The creation of a theatre panel to oversee the action plan, with "diverse and representative membership" from within Wales and beyond.
A new fund to support larger-scale work.
An annual calendar of events and training initiatives.
Enhanced marketing and data capabilities.
A two-day producers’ event to address an "immediate" need for support and training.
A small-scale version of the New Play Commission Scheme, which was established by the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain following the Covid-19 pandemic.
A digital library of Welsh plays.
Gower labelled the interviews "frank, open and revealing", continuing: "Being such a collaborative art form, it’s little wonder that so many people were willing to feed in ideas to both encourage ambition and ensure long-term sustainability in the sector."
He added: "I hope the report reflects those many views and does so in a positive light. I am grateful to the Arts Council for accepting the report’s recommendations and especially for swiftly developing a plan to turn its words into positive action."
Dafydd Rhys, chief Executive of ACW, added: "Some actions will be able to proceed sooner than others. Work is already underway to ensure the findings of the report inform changes to how Lottery funding is structured, and to explore opportunities to invest in new writing and theatremaker development.
"I would like to thank Jon Gower for his diligent work on this review, and to all those who gave their time to contribute to the process. We look forward to working with the sector on implementing the actions which have been identified as key to the future of English-language theatre in Wales."
All 25 recommendations are set to be considered in further detail at an ACW meeting in May.

Why is landing an Internship as a Computer Engineering/Computer Science Student so hard ?
Hey there, dear coders!
I apologize for my long absence—life caught me off guard with a lot of work and projects. Now that I finally have some time, I wanted to make a post to connect with you all. Thank you so much for 1,000 subscribers! I know maintaining a community requires consistent posting, and I feel like many of you might have forgotten about me. But I promise to make something big out of this. I've been thinking about starting a newsletter where you can receive weekly emails from me, discussing something I learned that week or anything that intrigued me and I felt like sharing.
Now, back to our question: Is it really hard to land an internship as a computer science student? The answer is yes, and as a computer engineering student myself, I can attest to this.
I've often wondered why it's so difficult. After some observations, I discovered that almost every computer science student's resume looks the same. The portfolios are nearly identical, lacking uniqueness. If you've studied at the same school as your friends, what would make a recruiter choose you over them?
This is where uniqueness and a sense of self come in. Your portfolio or website should reflect exactly who you are as a person and highlight your strengths.
The second crucial factor is dedication. I've had classmates who are extremely dedicated. They might not have any special skills, but they show immense interest in what they want to do. This drive is palpable, and recruiters can sense it too.
Sometimes, the resume isn't even the most important aspect. For big companies like Oracle, what you say and know during the interview and technical tests matters more. The resume is just the very first step.
So, what I've learned along the way can be summed up in two words: uniqueness and dedication.
Now how to Create the Perfect Resume to Land an Internship as a Student ?
1. Keep the design simple:
Avoid extra designs or too many colors. While uniqueness is important, recruiters generally do not favor overly designed resumes.
2. Structure your resume properly:
- The Resume Header
Contact Information:
Full name and title: List your first and last name. Use the title of the role you want instead of your current title.
Professional email address: Use a clean format like [email protected].
Phone number: Choose the number you check most frequently. Record a professional voicemail greeting if yours is too casual.
Address: List only your city and state. Let recruiters know if you're willing to relocate if applicable.
LinkedIn or other professional social media: Include your LinkedIn profile if it's active and relevant. List any portfolios or computer engineering-related sites.
- The Resume Summary
A paragraph where you describe yourself by answering these questions:
What is your professional style? (Use one or two descriptive words such as patient, critical thinker, consensus builder, excellent designer.)
What is your greatest engineering strength?
What will you add to this particular team?
What is your process for building and maintaining computer networks?
What are you proudest of in your career?
Example:
Motivated computer engineering student with a strong foundation in software development and solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Looking for an opportunity to enhance my skills in a challenging professional environment.
- The Employment History Section
Be specific about how you contributed to each position and the impact you made.
List the job title, organization name, dates of employment, and 3–6 bullet points showcasing your achievements.
Start each bullet point with a strong action verb like collaborated or designed.
Highlight significant achievements rather than just listing responsibilities.
If you have no experience, include a projects section. This will act as your experience. Highlight how you worked on each project and your passion for it.
- The Skills Section
Combine hard and soft skills. The skills section is often the first place recruiters look to ensure you have the key abilities they're seeking. Your entire resume should support the skills you list here.
- The Education and Certifications Section
List your education, including any relevant courses or special achievements during your degree. Also, mention any certifications you have, whether from freeCodeCamp, Google, Coursera, etc.
By following these tips, you can create a resume that stands out and showcases your unique strengths and dedication. Good luck with your internship search, and remember to stay true to yourself!
