overnight goodbyes
you said goodbye, overnight never even gave a reason, why?
your dead blue eyes stare through the picture looking at it, I'm growing sicker as my thoughts flicker to how they'd light up when u saw me
tell me what I did tell me why tell me why you left my heart shattered, on the carpet of your apathy, that still stings every time I walk bye tell me why you broke the vase of my devotion
you're lodging in my head I feel the longing in my bed at least tell me how u wish I were dead
you left my life as swiftly as u had crawled into and I was thrown out of your heart more rapidly than I had intruded my reign as your queen was short-lived now I'm banished and you wish I would just vanish
you said goodbye and never gave a reason why but every time I see your dead blue eyes reflect my smile through the picture, I grow sicker and I wonder why you said goodbye and never gave a reason why
you promised forever, not once, not twice but a hundred fucking times you were my hangover, my drug, my kryptonite
so tell me why you're nothing but memories on my screen I don't mean to cause a scene I just want you to please hear my screams
dust settles over the books untouched, abandoned your heart, my love, is a rock, hardened I'm the flower you gardened and watered for months only to pluck me out and stomp all over
I wish you could tell me why you said goodbye our love a paper you tore and crumbled that I try to tape back together every day but how much damage can an object really manage? you said goodbye while I'm still praying for a reason why

🐢 • Turtles All The Way Down by John Green
Rating: ★★★★☆
The book is not about a “plot” or a “mystery”, it’s a book about a young girl dealing with her mental health. It gives a very well thought of and very well written point of view on how it feels like to have anxiety and OCD.
John Green really puts you inside Aza’s head to an extreme, you find yourself struggling with her, feeling with her and basically living inside her body. Which might be triggering or hard to read at times. It’s not a book for everyone but it is very important.
I read the Anthropocene reviewed before reading Turtles which in its way helped me understand John Green and who he is as a person, his perspective on very mundane normal things and just how he thinks in general. And a lot of the things I read about in Anthropocene reviewed related back to Turtles All The Way Down. You could see a LOT of him in this book. There were some moments and thoughts and references that immediately made me think of him and picture him.
I can’t begin to imagine how many people saw themselves and related to this book. I personally did not relate to it as much as others did but I did find some things or some aspects of it to be very similar to how I sometimes think.  Nonetheless, it’s not about just being a relatable book for people who suffer with their mental health but It’s also a great way for people who do not suffer from OCD or anxiety, to understand what it’s like for people who do.
If you want to read this book, keep that in mind going into it. the Mystery plot is very shallow, it just complimentary to the main idea of the book which is the story of a young girl struggling with her mental health.

i closed the book I'm letting you off the hook your intentions i mistook stupid me, thinking you loved her
i said i hate you, excuse my lies thought detest would make it easier to survive after two quarters, your shelter denied transient as it was, my apple tree you had become feeding diurnally my undying hunger for your fruit, irregardless of the sour punch the marble floor shone bright in aid of my vagrant heart as i lay in bed sick from the apples nonetheless yearning for more catches
i know i said i wish you'd die but ask me and any malicious intent be denied the rage so powerful, it burnt through my veins the hurt so dominant, for a moment i came undone vocalized words i would never mean, so please allow me to come clean
i am closing the book i am ending the film because we will never again be one the invisible string tying us together cut the rope i held onto fell from my hands our stories intertwined and diverged a tangent line, you changed me forever with a single touch
don't ask me if our tale has ended because ill never know incapable of gripping through the closing pages i had to close the book i was unfit to read i had to close the book disinclined to be read
