HE WAS ANNOYING, BUT HE WAS RIGHT. and that, they both knew, irritated her to no end. as if to prove a point, caroline scoffed, shoving him away. not far enough that they’d reclaim any actual space between them, but just enough to get her point across. ❝ get lost. ❞ her tone was more teasing than she’d intended, the corner of her mouth quirking up in a small smile. just one of the multitude of ways she tended to betray her own better judgment where he was concerned. ❝ you’re a pain in the ass, you know that? ❞ he did. he had to. she reminded him of it almost every day.
