It was one of those weekly stargazing dates you two would have, laying next to each other in the silence of nature holding hands. It was these moments that he loved. Even more when you surprise kiss his cheek.

Immediately breaks into a boyish smile, looking at them with his pupils' heart-shaped. Ears turning a soft pink with now moving over to simply hugging you, his heart about to busy throughout his ribs.

It could be at any moment, and he would become silent from the affectionate action. His eyebrows raised before returning into a grin, the topic had been long forgotten.

Tilting his head to the side with a little laugh. Even tho he is the master of fire, any affectionate from his lover burns him up so much more. His confidence only falterd for a second after. The look in his eyes says many more words than could be said.

Watching a show with Cole was always interesting. He'd always got something to say about how dumb it was but couldn't stop seeing how it went. Of course, being the amazing lover, you are the peck on his cheek immediately stopped another one of his little rants.

Forgetting for a moment why he was ranting, his gaze flickerd to you instead. His calm expression turned rather quickly to a big grin, and he attacked with tickles. Occasionally dropping a small peck on your skin between.

Zane is cooking this evenings dinner, not really focusing on his surroundings too much other than the food. His lover popping up next to him surprisingly and within seconds placing a peck on his cheek.

Would simply grin happily back to his lover and ask if you wanted to help with anything, leaning over to kiss your cheek rather soon after. He found it cute and would like it to be more often of an acurance.

He could be working on a little machine thing of his own, like usually. Being in his own whole world but being snapped out the second a short peck was planted on his cheek.

Immediately would be hit with the ':0' kind of face, but it would be quickly replaced with a down smile. His face would trun warmer and would stutter just slightly when talking after. Let's just say his focus is solely on his lover and what they wanted to talk about.

The duo was talking together about machines, powers, and any sort of topic that came to mind, laughing amongst themselves. They moved over and gave her a short peck on her left cheek.

It was easily picked up that Nya had been stunned for a moment, looking at her lover with a surprised expression. Taking it as a small challenge as now randomly she'd kiss their cheek mid conversation.

- Even has some vulnerable inspirational videos that are like "keep going. you'll be okay, i believe in you" that are honestly tear-jerkers

- If anyone is curious about what the ninja have been up to, Kai's pages are the place to go

- Also attends the most events bc he's an attention whore

- But has also raised the most money and attention for said charities as a result

Jay:

- He doesn't host Ultimate Ninja Warrior anymore, but it kept going with his permission and a contract, he visits as a special host during the finals every year

- Occasionally posts stuff on Chirp when it means a lot to him

- Maybe that IS why though. The few. The strong. They're the ones who, like, solve crimes through the internet and shit

- There are conspiracy theories that he's not even real and its a running gag

how zane admires kai's strengths (and knowledge about people) and expresses it explicitly (straight up asking what certain things mean or why people are doing what they're doing) and he's completely genuine about it. like theres no pity or condescending nature towards it, zane just believes that the others on the team know more about life and people than he does. but kai would take that to heart more than the others.

his parents left without telling him why, he wasn't a very good blacksmith leaving nya's heavy lifting to provide for the both of them, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't become the green ninja. he was even the last of the core four to discover his true potential. kai has never been used to genuine praise. kai probably never truly thought that he was the best at something, or better than someone else. but when zane (a literal prodigal nindroid with a heart of gold) asks him for help and holds him at such a high regard? that hits HARD.

and zane, this assumedly perfect nindroid, never seeming to understand how to get people to like him, or how to understand the meaning behind peoples' words, and kai just understands all of that so effortlessly. and instead of being jealous, he just genuinely thinks 'wow, this guy's so smart!' ???

also the underlying idea of them both feeling responsible for everyone and judging themselves bc they feel like they should have prevented something bad from happening or at least taken the brunt of the attack to protect everyone else,, like ouch. the heavy-hitting guilt and grief, the fear of being the only one left in their family, THEY'RE SO AUGHHHH

How are Garmadon and Kai (master of water) ? Does anything change about their relationship?

It depends on the time.

In the Pilot, Kai clearly disliked the guy for trying to kidnapp his sister. In the season 1, when Wu took Garmadon on the Bounty, Kai didn't trust him and just had an eye on him.

But later when Garmadon was cured, they were on good terms. Maybe they weren't close or anything, but from time to time they'd talk about Lloyd. Also Garmadon & Misako were curious, why Lloyd called Kai and Nya his siblings, so they started talking more.

And since we're talking about Garmadon-

I want to talk about his and Misako's character in my AU, since their relationship is much diffrent from the canon.

I want to say that their relationship is basically based on the ship #destructivedragonshipping / #theydeservedbettershipping

Ok, so since you know about what I'm talking about now, I'll continue.

In my au Misako & Garmadon met on the battle field and fell deeply in love. They both deeply loved each other and wanted to settel down and start a family.

They got married. Misako started working as an archeologist and soon they had a beautifull son together. Unfortunatelly they happily life couldn't last for too long.

[Venom]

Over time, the power of the snake's venom in Garmadon only grew stronger and stronger, having more and more control over Garmadon's mind and heart.

Through the years Wu & Misako fully suported him, being by his side when the worse thoughts were comming to his mind, telling him things that he should do and making him go even deeper to the dark side-

They were always by him, but the 'attacks' were unpredictable.

But with time Garmadon was slowly becomming weaker and weaker to fight 'those thoughts' inside his head.

[The Loss]

At one point, when Garmadon was the weakest a voice told him 'Steal the golden weapoons' 'Do your worst' 'Rule the world' 'You need that' 'You deserve that-'

So when the time came and as Garmadon tired to steal the weapoons, he came across his brother, who, even though he didn't want to fight him, had to fight him.

During their fight in the end Garmadon was send to the Realm of Madness, which left Wu & Misako devastated.

The whole thing had happend, when Koko was at home with Lloyd, so she didn't even knew, until Wu told her.

After that Misako's & Wu's friendship started tearing apart.

The loss of Garmadon had a big impact of both of them. Wu was broken after loosing his brother, but didn't let himself even that 'distract' him form focusing on his mission.

Meanwhile Misako took Wu's behavior very badly, thinking he was disrespecting Garmadon and even accusing him of not loving his brother.

After that they went they separated ways and didn't talk with each other for many years. [The bad taste remained for a long time.]

[New Problems]

With Garmadon gone, Misako was devastated and sad.. But even though that pain she was strong and determined woman.

While working, taking care of young Lloyd she started looking for a way to fix everything.

Koko could work for hours at night and prepare in scrolls, prophecies and chieroglyphs a way to get back and cure her husband of that devilish poison.

She knew that with this venom with which they had been fighting together for years.. It won't let her husband life in peace.

In the meantime her identyti as the Lady Iron Dragon was revealed to the entire public in the news and all her past enemies started comming after her and Lloyd.

Misako afraid of Lloyd's safety decided to distance herself from him to ensure his safety, so she send her son to school.

She couldn't have send Lloyd to his uncle after their 'argument'. Misako continued to hold great resentment over Wu's behavior.

At the beginning it was hard for her to find a school that would accept her son. After her identity was reviled and Lloyd was known as Garmadon's son it was hard got anywhere.

Fortunately Darkley's 'nice school' was able welcomed them with open arms. Back then Misako wasn't aware of the fact this school was to teach evil.

That's also why they were very found of Lloyd the son of Garmadon.

After that Misako set out on her own 'journey' with the pain of leaving her child behind. To keep in touch she decided to write letters to her son once a week.

Originally it was supposed to be short. As soon as her enemies were gone, she'd come back for Lloyd. Unfortunately, there was no indication of this and when she came across the green ninja's prophecy, everything got even worse.

And that's the story in short.

Fun facts:

During Lloyd's life in school excitedly counting down the days until the next letter from his mother arrived.

When Misako realises that her son run away form the school, she starts to look for him, until she recived a letter form Wu that Lloyd was with him.

When Wu & Misako met again in season 2, they anger is long gone. They clearly regret how things ended up and that they didn't have a proper talk.

After Garmadon was send to the Realm of Madness, he was still able to enter their world through the shadow.. So when Lloyd was in school he often visited him.

Llody used to play with the shadow of his father not even knowing it was his father. He called him Mr. Shadow.

Garmadon often watched in silence through his shadow how Koko was overworking herself just to help him. He never dared to speak to her or make her notice him.

There were few times when he wanted to touch his wife's hair thought his shadow, but always backed out at the last moment before he could try.

I LOVE seeing headcanons related to Kai's powers. Like in the show he uses his power as a light source and that's cool, but people online go beyond that and come up with cool ideas of variety he could do as an elemental.

The flame shield we saw with his True Potential. With how destructive fire is, you'd think his would be offensive like Zane's is, but no it's the opposite. I think that's poetic with how True Potential functions with the master's discovery of themselves. Zane's is raw power from his heart and soul because of his acceptance of his identity. Cole's is strength from his strong will to stand up for who he is no matter the weight and pressure. Jay's is teleportation and flight because... faith trust and pixie dust? Idk that one confuses me a little, someone help me there. Kai's is a shield because he is a brother at his core. That's his fighting purpose. It's to protect his family, blood or surrogate. His fire is a protection barrier for the people he loves.

Speaking of family, the idea that he has a higher body temperature than the others, and it doesn't affect him negatively. Maybe it causes heat strokes in intense environments, but idk for sure if that's a problem for him. So he's just a space heater half the time. Especially for his siblings like Nya and Lloyd. You're cold? You're sick? You're cuddling with Kai and staying warm, and he ain't letting you go. Unless you're Jay, then he might tell you 'can't wait to go to your funeral knowing I could've changed that outcome'. (Lloyd goes limp cause he's part dragon)

The flames change colors when in certain sources like the crystals from Elemental. I never knew I needed that. But I think Kai would just like to play with it around Lloyd to cheer up the angsty child, and Lloyd likes it because ooo pretty lights. Imagine using this for like a bedtime story for someone. He also would do it to frame other people for pranks. 'Oh the ashes are green well clearly Lloyd did it' 'Oh its rocks it's gotta be Cole'. It almost never works.

He's afraid of water because he can't swim. That's how I interpret it. So when you splash him with water, he's just frowning. And it depends on who does it. If it's Nya, he goes, "...ok." If it's someone else, he goes, "What'd you say to me?!" If it's someone like Jay, he goes, "So you have chosen death." My point is that despite the water paranoia, he likes taking baths, especially before bed. He'll tell you he hates them, because they make him do it before bed. They do it to calm him down because if he goes to bed mad, or has a panic attack, or has a nightmare, his powers could go off the fritz and he burns the bedsheets. He likes it as a calming thing, away from stress of the day. He also likes the bath salts, again his flames changing colors with that stuff. Half of the time it's ingredients from that Sereni-tea from that Wu's Tea shorts. It's a therapy medicine for him.

BLUE FLAMES. YUS. This is one that I wish we actually saw in the show because that would be awesome. He doesn't use it very often because it's hard to control and maybe damaging, but that's why he only uses it when he's just... out of control of himself. Imagine a nightmare of a situation where an enemy just takes it too far. Severely injures one of his siblings, for example. Then you just see the fire turn blue... you'd run for the hills if you were them. That man is angry. ANGRY angry

NOOOOO how is he gonna get out??? I will say him as the first to use rising dragon felt extremely deserved, I clapped and cheered during that fight scene. but now he’s stuck in the netherworld with the remaining forbidden five and that’s scary.

I teared up seeing Nya activate her rising dragon style in her grief for him. in the next part she’s gonna find out Jay forgot who she is too… so much heartache for Nya 😞

Really enjoyed Bonzle in these episodes as well, learning about her origin of being a spell, her journey of discovering herself as a person and finding a found family :’) at least she’s with Kai now….

and I’ve felt terrible for Lloyd every episode. him getting slammed by those visions constantly, unexpectedly, even in the middle of a fight which sends him spiraling, that’s so rough :((

It’s obvious they’re a representation of panic attacks/he has developed a canon panic disorder- like Lloyd literally says it at one point. they happen suddenly, give anxious fear about present and future events, he gets scared about having another one so he tries to cope by not sleeping (unhealthy coping method) and is taught later on to try accepting the feelings and ride it out which is a way irl therapists teach. good to see some more exploration of mental health in this show!! I’m glad the other characters are taking notice and trying to help too in the ways they can

…speaking of mental health, Arin has been interesting to watch. he’s reading to me more as an autistic-coded character lately (like that line about not understanding social cues???) and we’ve been seeing lots more negative self-esteem issues and insecurity from him in these episodes. him making mistakes during the training sessions, getting scolded, then closing himself off was hard to watch

How Sora decided to hide the truth about Arin’s “object spinjitzu” that saved the day at the very end so he would feel proud of himself for achieving something hurt my heart. she is such a sweet friend who wants her bestie to be happy and feel proud of himself but like- keeping secrets is gonna have consequences down the line. especially when we all know this is a touchy subject for Arin right now. it’s just painful to see how deeply Arin’s self-worth is tied to what he’s capable of doing, what he can and cannot do for the ninja team. he can’t use elemental power he can’t do spinjitzu properly, he’s already insecure so how would he feel to find out ppl are lying to his face so he can feel happier? he’s a string that’s gonna snap one day and judging from that beatdown moment with Lord Ras it’s not going to be pretty. I sense some sort of villain arc approaching for our son

GUYS I LOVE DRAGONS RISING SO MUCH. I don't think words can actually express the depth of my love for this series. This is it. After 13 years, I think Ninjago has finally hit it's own true potential. I have so many things I want to say but I think it will be at the end of my recap series.

Shatterspin is so cool and I love how Cinder owns them all. We see firstly that Cinder is a good fighter, but not good enough to defeat Kai without Shatterspin. Then, when he actually uses Shatterspin, the ninja don't stand a chance. It proves how powerful the technique really is.

I think I mentioned this in the last episodes post, but Lloyd having canon anxiety and panic attacks is just. Everything. Representation is fantastic. As someone who has had anxiety my whole life... if I had seen that as a child, maybe I would've learned about my anxiety way earlier. I'm so glad that this show is not afraid to talk about mental health.

Ninjago Western - Kai

Kai

Kai has a cold and sharp appearance that he shows towards everyone, but deep down, he is a good man, but he just had bad luck.

Normally his favorite weapon is the revolver, and everyone knows him for always using two revolvers and a single shotgun. One of his revolvers belonged to his father, and he carries with him a knife that also belonged to his father. The second revolver belonged to the leader of the gang Kai worked with.

Kai uses no other horse other than Flame, his most loyal horse and one that has accompanied him on each of his trips.

Kai met Flame as a lone wild Mustang and the two found themselves in dangerous situations. During a storm Flame had been injured after he was attacked by a wild cougar, Kai was nearby when the attack occurred and confronted the cougar to save Flame, the cougar managed to hurt Kai a little but he finally got rid of the wild one feline. He honestly didn't have the heart to leave Flame abandoned, so he healed his wounds as best he could and waited for Flame to recover. When Flame finally recovered, Kai set him free, but for some reason Flame wanted to stay with him, he began to follow him as if he were a dog and having no other choice, Kai decides to take him as his own horse.

Kai loved his family and his people very much, losing everything because of the Clinthon family filled him with a vengeful hatred that never went out within him. That he did not travel a tortuous and bloody path around him was thanks to his promise to keep Nya safe, but apart from meeting his friends and Skylor. And meeting Lloyd, little by little, made the hatred in his heart reduce.

After being orphaned, Kai began stealing food and some money, most of the food and money he gave to Nya. But sometimes he worked in a small stable taking care of the horses, and so he was able to get some money. But when he was with Nya, he took it upon himself to give her a good education, so he taught her to read and write. And every time he could he gave her a book that he sometimes found on the street. And so as not to make her forget her parents, he told her many stories about them, he also gave her a photograph where the four of them were together, since at that time, Nya was a baby.

Sometimes he let Nya help him take care of the animals in the small stable where he worked.

He let Nya fall asleep near him every night.

When Kai tried to steal some money from the leader of a gang of outlaws, they caught him in the act and if he wanted them to let him and his sister go, he had to work for them.

The leader of the gang was a mysterious man, he never told Kai his name but he took him under his care.

Kai was already good at using any type of weapon, he knew how to hunt with his parents when he was very young, and his father taught him how to shoot and ride a horse. Thanks to these skills he turned out to be useful to the band.

Morro was in that band, at that time he was 11 years old, but he was a rather proud and cruel child at that time. Morro never loved Kai, as he thought he was a useless and weak child, but Kai showed him the opposite.

Kai couldn't stand Morro either, since he always insulted him, bothered him and even got into a lot of fights with him.

The reason why he didn't let his sister join the band was because he didn't want her to follow that path, the boss accepted Kai's condition and didn't let anyone in the band touch Nya. But that was something Nya didn't know, since Kai lied to her about him taking small jobs outside of the town where they were staying.

So that he would not forget his education, the boss almost always forced Kai to read and write anything.

The gang Kai worked with was not that bad, but they were well known to the authorities, they only stole money and sometimes gave it to other people who needed it, and they did not coldly kill people, they only killed those that they deserved, since the gang was also a bounty hunting group.

The group leader helped Kai improve his fighting and shooting skills.

After lasting six years with the gang, Morro, out of pure jealousy and hatred towards Kai, murdered the gang to obtain the reward they offered for the entire gang, whether to all living or dead members. Seeing this and knowing that Morro was responsible for the massacre, Kai decided to find him and stop his misdeeds.

Fearing that Morro would go after Nya, the two traveled to Ninjago City to stay for a few days. After meeting Wu, an old friend of his father, Kai asked him to stay with Nya and protect her. Wu accepted, but Kai told him that he should follow another path, so he left Nya with Wu.

Kai never gave Nya an explanation as to why he left her with Wu, he only told her that it was for her own good.

Kai began his career as an outlaw by beginning to hunt down various criminals, either capturing them or killing them on the spot, then began attacking Ouroboros to get rid of several of Chen's men, while also stealing several of Tyrrant's profits in different Ninjago banks. Becoming a hired gun caused him to earn a large reward from the law, and people began to call him "Red Shogun".

He is not an official member of the resistance, but sometimes he helps Ronin with some jobs, which is how he met Cole, Zane, and Jay.

He met Skylor when confronting some members of the Serpentine gang in Ouroboros, at first the two fought because Skylor thought that the Red Shogun was a ruthless killer. But because Kai was too gentlemanly, he didn't count on Skylor kicking his ass in a minute. Kai is still insisting that he let her win.

He met Nya again a year after all of Ninjago knew his outlaw name, the two met at an old abandoned ranch where Kai had the mission of ending or handing over some criminals who had stolen several of the farmers' properties, Nya also had that same mission, only when they met they faced each other, at the same time while they faced the gang of criminals. It was there that Nya discovered that the Red Shogun was Kai. Nya didn't catch him or anything, she just turned a blind eye and let him go.

After the encounter with his sister, Kai knew that Nya would stop at nothing to find him and demand answers, he has already had small encounters with her, and knowing that she became sheriff and that she helped the resistance fills him with pride, but when the two are close the atmosphere around them becomes tense.

When he feels frustrated or angry with the world, Kai goes to any bar so he can get drunk.

After saving Lloyd from a gang of bandits, while heading towards one of the resistance hideouts, he had no intention of letting Lloyd accompany him on his journey, but knowing that he was Wu's nephew, and Since Tyrrant had men looking for the boy, Kai made the decision to take Lloyd with him.

Becoming Lloyd's personal nanny was not in his plans. But what other alternative did I have?

Kai knows to be careful with Lloyd every time he uses his slingshot. The boy was a real danger if he had his slingshot in his hand.

She gets irritated when Lloyd bothers him, whether in front of girls or with his friends. And she tried not to feel affection for the boy, so she acted in a cold way towards him. But over time Kai begins to warm to Lloyd.

Every time they go to bars, Kai gives Lloyd a juice and forbids him to see the almost naked dancers who are dancing or singing on stage.

Kai and Ronin once played a little prank on Lloyd, offering him an alcoholic drink so he would know what it tasted like. They both laughed a lot when they saw the child's expression of disgust.

Sometimes he is reprimanded by Nya, Skylor, Pixal and Vania, as they see him acting in a rude manner towards Lloyd. He even gets reprimanded by Cole's father.

Seeing that the boy was good at getting into trouble with other people, the first thing he taught Lloyd was to not bother people so much, so he could avoid problems in the future. After that he teaches him to ride his own horse, something that did not turn out to be so difficult, since he could see that the boy was a good rider.

If he wanted Lloyd to overcome the dangers he faced, he had to teach him how to shoot. At first the boy turned out to be a little nervous when holding a gun, but over time he got used to it. But he only gave him the weapon on the condition that he defend himself and not kill people directly.

When he became attached to Lloyd, he would sometimes take him hunting in the forest or take him fishing in any river they found. The two of them even got to see the stars together, as well as the sunsets.

Sometimes she would get angry at Lloyd if he embarrassed him in front of people.

She is worried that Lloyd is in dangerous situations, and she is very afraid that Lloyd will die because of him. Since it would be something he couldn't stand.

I may act harshly towards Lloyd at times, but he knows that he does it for his own good. He even becomes a role model for Lloyd. And there are moments when the two joke with each other.

Kai very much wants Lloyd to live the life that was taken from him and his sister. Since sometimes Kai accidentally acted like a second father to Lloyd.

Whumptober 2023 Day 5 - Pinned Down

Day 5! And this one is MOVIEVERSE! I REPEAT: MOVIEVERSE! I wanted a bit of a challenge so a few of these are going to be set within the movie! Also movie!Jay is an absolute bean but he swears like a sailor and I will die on this hill.

This wasn’t supposed to happen. 

Garmadon wasn’t supposed to strike during the middle of the school day, his plane wasn’t supposed to get shot down out of the sky, and he was not supposed to crash it directly into a building that was already crumbling from the attack. Jay had tried to hit the eject button only for it to fail, so he had no other choice than to sit tight and hope that the impact didn’t kill him.

It didn’t, but Jay could still feel the whiplash that hit his neck as his head slammed against the console, his helmet the only thing saving him from certain doom. He had been knocked out almost instantly, and when he finally came around there were voices screaming at him over the still-functioning radio and blood trickling down from his forehead.

“Jay!” Cole yelled, and Jay could hear the sounds of missiles detonating over the comms. “What the hell happened?!”

He must’ve been talking for some time, so Jay fumbled to press the button and activate his mic. “Cole? I’m here.”

‘Oh thank the First Master,” Lloyd sighed, and Jay winced from his volume. His mask must’ve gotten shoved up closer to his mouth. “Did anyone see where he went down?”

“He is near the corner of Main and Fourth,” Zane chimed in, and Jay’s heart started sinking. Nobody was patrolling in that direction, which meant that there was no one nearby and they were all still fighting a battle. He was on his own.

Which immediately posed a problem when he tried to move his leg.

A short scream escaped his lips when he tried to pull his leg out, and Jay felt the tears sting at the corners of his eyes. Glancing down, the sight of mangled metal buried in his leg almost made him sick. White-hot pain shot up his thigh from his calf, and Jay bit down on his hand to keep from screaming again as his head hit the back of his seat.

He was trapped.

The others must’ve heard him, because Nya was hurriedly clicking onto the channel. “What the hell was that?”

“I’m stuck,” Jay said, “m-my leg’s pinned. I can’t get it out.”

“How stuck?” Kai asked, and Jay heard the screeching of metal on metal through the comms before Kai’s flamethrower ignited, the whoosh familiar as well as the yells of whoever Kai was fighting against.

Jay really did not want to look at it again, but he did have to assess the injury. His leg was burning with pain, his nerves alight with the sensation as he leaned down to try and get a better look at what had happened. Of course, it looked like one of the pylons had gone straight through his leg; not enough to take it off, but definitely enough to pin him in place and start to cause problems.

Why was he so calm about almost having his leg forcibly amputated?

“It’s gone through my leg,” Jay said lightly, his voice betrayed absolutely none of his inner turmoil, “so I can’t move. I also can’t remove it because I don’t know what’ll happen or if it’s structurally sound.”

Silence rang over the comms, and Jay waited patiently for his team to respond. It wasn’t like he was going anywhere. “Buddy, are you okay?” Cole asked hesitantly.

“Oh yes, Cole, I’m just peachy! I’m stuck in this stupid fucking cockpit and there’s a metal rod stuck in my leg and I dunno how to fix it and there’s enemies everywhere and you guys are across the city and I’m going to flip my shit because what if I lose my fucking leg?!” and there it was. Everything was falling apart around him, literally and metaphorically, and Jay’s vision started to tunnel as he struggled to take a deep breath. He wanted to pull his knees up into his chest and bury his face in them, but any movement of his leg only brought more tears to his eyes.

“Breathe,” Nya tried to say, but Jay only took a harsh inhale through his nose in panic-fuelled rage.

“My jet is fucked! My leg is fucked! I’M fucked!” Jay yelled. “So what do you mean ‘breathe’?!”

“It’s not going to get better if you keep panicking, so I need you to calm down,” Nya said soothingly; the others stayed quiet, trusting her to take control of the situation. “I’m on my way, okay? Just hang tight, we’ll get you out of there.”

He couldn’t calm down. The rod shifted, making him see stars as his head knocked against the side of the cockpit. All it took was one sob to open the floodgates, and suddenly he couldn’t stop. “I’m scared, Nya, I’m scared and it hurts and I don’t know what to do-”

“I know,” Nya said, “I know, that’s why I need you to breathe for me, Jay. In for three, hold for four, out for seven, can you do that for me?”

“Yeah,” and Jay tried, he really did, but the sight of Garmadon’s forces flying high over his head, twisting and turning through the air as they made a beeline for where the others were already fighting, drowned out any common sense that may have stuck around at the beginning of his panic attack.

If they saw him, he was as good as dead.

And they were getting pretty damn close.

“Fuck!” Jay cursed, pushing hard at his shattered windshield. “Come on, come on!”

“What happened?” Lloyd asked, alarmed. Jay kept banging at the windshield, ignoring the shards of glass cutting through his gloves and the pain radiating from his wrists.

“Garmadon’s army is coming!” he said, and he could hear the sharp intake of breath from the rest of the group. “I’m pinned down, and I can’t get out!”

“Cole, Nya, get to him now,” Lloyd ordered, and Jay felt his heart lift when he saw the green ninja’s mech shoot across the sky, already tearing through the hordes of planes flying through the city. “Kai and Zane, we’re running defense. Don’t let them get close until Jay is clear.”

“On it, boss,” Kai said, and Zane confirmed as well. Cole grunted, and Nya was silent, but Jay knew that she was just thinking of a way to get him out of here. Probably. Hopefully.

There had to be something he could do. His brain was racing a mile a minute as he looked around the cockpit for anything that he could use to pry open the canopy, or even something to help him start to free his leg. Adrenaline poured through his veins, dulling any pain radiating from the wound and making him shake with repressed stims. Finally he tore off a control panel on the side, steadying his hands long enough to start fiddling with the wires. Maybe he could get his jet’s cloaking ability to start working; that would buy him some time until Nya got there.

It only took a minute for the wires to start sparking, small arcs racing up his fingers and Jay quickly dropped said wires, but the damage was already done. The tips of his fingers were slightly singed, as Cole would so gracefully put it, and Jay quickly put them into his mouth one by one to soothe the burns. Hopefully someone was still on the line, he thought as he pressed the button to open the comm channel, his finger throbbing in protest.

“Uh, team?” Jay said, flinching when one of the planes flew a little too close for his liking, “I can’t activate the cloaking thing and I think I burnt my fingers.”

“Seriously?” Cole said angrily, and Jay’s heart dropped at his tone. “Don’t worry, Jay, Nya and I are almost there?”

“Can you turn your ‘almost here’ into actually being here, please?”

“Working on it, Blue,” Nya grunted, and Jay could hear the sounds of crabs hitting her windshield with dull thunks. “Hang in there, you’re doing great. How’s that injury looking?”

“Let me check,” Jay leaned down to look again and nearly lost his lunch for the fourth time since he had gotten stuck in this predicament. Nothing had changed, but it suddenly looked a lot more red than it did before. His boot squelched on the floorplates, and something was soaking into it and through his socks. Dizzy, Jay realized that he was sole-deep in a puddle of crimson red, of his own blood.

That…wasn’t very comforting. “There’s a lot of blood.”

“How much blood?” Nya asked.

Jay swallowed thickly, pressing the back of his head to his seat and shutting his eyes. “T-There’s a puddle, and it’s soaking into my shoes.”

An explosion, and Nya’s voice came over the speakers again. “These guys are not making it easy. Is there any way that you can staunch it? Or pull the thing out?”

It warmed his heart that in literally any other situation Nya would be flipping her shit, but she was keeping her cool; Jay liked to think that it was because of him rather than anything else. “I can’t move it. The pylon is attached to the main engine and I’m not nearly strong enough. Plus, this thing is already falling apart; I don’t know what’ll happen if I move too much.”

Case in point, the loud whine of falling metal as a section collapsed behind him, making Jay jump in surprise and stare with wide eyes. “You guys might wanna hurry, I don’t know how much longer this is going to stay up!”

“Going as fast as we can,” Cole assured, and Jay could tell that his best friend was starting to grow frustrated with the situation. He slumped in his chair, trying in vain to keep his anxiety at bay as the planes flew closer and closer. Rationally, he knew that Cole wasn’t mad at him, per se, but it sure as hell felt like it. Honestly, It was a miracle that he hadn’t been spotted yet.

He should’ve never thought about it.

Screaming through the air as they descended, Jay watched as the planes focused on his location with a plummeting heart. Their crab cannons swiveled to face him, and Jay was suddenly very aware of just how cracked his canopy was and the fragility of the cockpit protecting him. It wouldn’t last for very long at all.

“Lloyd!” he yelled, throwing his arms up and over his head as the crabs started raining down on top of him. “I’m in trouble here!”

“On my way!” and Jay saw the green dragon mech zigzag across the sky, tearing through the planes with its mechanical claws and firing missle after missle. “Guys, does anyone have eyes on Garmadon? I can’t see him from here.”

“I do,” Kai ground out, and Jay could tell that the fire ninja was not happy. “He’s on the south side, I’m gonna need all hands on deck to take care of him. He’s got a new barracuda mech? I think?”

“Zane, get to Kai,” Lloyd said, and for First Master’s sake they had to stop sending Jay on these emotional rollercoastsers. He could not function under these conditions! “I’m right behind you.”

“Wait!” Jay exclaimed, because even though there may have been no more planes attacking, there were definitely people on the ground that would be trying to make their way towards him. For the first time he noticed that his weapon was gone; it must’ve gotten lost as he went down. “I don’t have anything to defend myself with, you know! They find me up here and I’m fucked!”

“You’re fucked anyway if we don’t defeat Garmadon,” Kai said harshly, and Jay flinched even though no one could see him. “Cole and Nya are almost there.”

“About that,” Cole said, and for the sake of the First Master could they please stop delivering bad news?! “I’m a bit stuck too.”

“Stuck? How are you stuck?” Nya asked, concerned. “Do I need to go back-”

“No, get to Jay,” Cole insisted, flicking a few switches near the mic and slapping a new record into his turntable. “I can handle it. I’m with you, girl, so lead the way.”

Jay knew that above all else, he trusted his best friend with his life; if he said he was with someone, Cole was going with them. Sighing in relief, the adrenaline finally started to fizzle out, and Jay sobbed as the pain started to set in again. It was blinding; the pool of blood had risen to his ankle and Jay was starting to feel the effects. Woozy, he tried to open up the comm channel, forgetting that he never closed it.

“Please hurry,” he slurred, and the fire racing up his leg made him yelp in pain. Vision blurred with tears, Jay let his head rest against his seat again, shutting his eyes and hoping that the world would stop spinning.

Until a shadow was finally cast over him. He cracked his eyes open, smiling at the sight of the battered water strider mech, the love of his life (even if she didn’t know it yet) giving him the world’s brightest grin as she grabbed her spear and saluted him. “You called, Blue?”

“I did,” he said softly, a chuckle bubbling out of him despite the grimness of his situation, “and they couldn’t have gotten anyone more gorgeous to answer it.”

Later, he would blame the flirting on the blood loss, but only he knew how much of a lie that really was.

Can you make one where the reader is an oni but shape shifted into a human many years ago, and Wu brought them one the team with everyone else. The oni reader was initially a spy but over time grew feelings for one of the ninjas or Pixal. The ninja and pixal learn that they are an oni and was originally a spy by another oni who escaped from season 10 fight. I need Angst and Fluff.

Ninjago - Nya With an Oni Spy

You hastily adjusted your hair and clothing while you speed-walked through the forest. One of the downsides of shifting into your human form was that you always looked a mess right after.

When you first began your mission as a spy for the Oni, this annoyed you because you’d frequently change between your human form and your Oni form. While you gave your frequent reports to your Oni higher-ups, you’d be in Oni form. When you were with the ninjas, you’d be in human form.

Luckily this wasn’t much of a problem anymore. You’d been successful in distancing yourself from your Oni connections over time, coming up with clever excuses to avoid your meetings and offering scant information when you were forced to. This frustrated your commanders to no end, but they had other matters to worry about, so you got away with it. You smirked to yourself at the memory of the General’s face as you again reported that you found “nothing worth mentioning.” You imagined steam coming out of his ears and had to put your hand over your mouth to keep from laughing.

The Bounty was in view now. Climbing on deck, you didn’t see anyone. Strange, you thought. They should’ve finished patrols an hour ago.

A crashing noise from the cabin caught your attention. Following it, you pressed your ear to the door first, trying to discern who (or what) might’ve caused the noise.

Your heart shriveled and fell from your chest when you heard a familiarly gravelly voice say: “We have our ways of knowing things.”

It was the General. He must’ve been caught after your meeting! You burst into the room in your excitement, not bothering to think.

You locked eyes with the General. His glowing eyes were burning with indignation. After a moment he seemed to recognize your human form, and a sense of amusement overtook his expression.

“Speak of the little deviant,” he spat, nodding at you.

The eyes of all the ninjas were now on you. You found shock, disbelief, anger, and betrayal in their faces.

You scrambled to defend yourself. “Come on, guys, you can’t believe this guy! Do you really think I’m an Oni spy sent here to monitor your every move?”

Your words didn’t help at all. If anything, they solidified the upset looks in your friends’ faces. “We never said anything about a spy,” Kai said, crossing his arms.

You paled. Realizing that there was no way out of it now, you began: “Can you at least let me explain—”

Angry shouts silenced you.

“You filthy liar!” Jay pointed accusingly.

“Dude…” Cole just shook his head.

“I can’t believe I trusted you!” Kai took a step forward, as if to attack you, but was stopped by a hand on his shoulder.

The hand belonged to Nya. You looked into her dark eyes, struck with the thorough pain filling the dark brown pupils. Her lips were pressed into a thin line, and she turned her head away. Somehow, that was more painful than anything she could’ve said.

“Nya…” you breathed, shoulders slumping in devastation.

Kai, perceiving his sister’s anguish, grabbed her hand. “Don’t talk to her,” he spat protectively. “Don’t talk to any of us. Just get out of here!”

You looked at the others. Lloyd. Wu. Someone who might have a little more sense than to just throw you out on the spot. But you found no such person in the room. It was clear that they all wanted you gone.

As you turned to leave, you heard the dark cackling of the Oni General. You paused in the threshold, fists balling up. Your anger made you rigid; you found yourself frozen in place as each disgusting laugh stoked a fire in your chest.

After a few seconds, you whirled around, flying at the General. With four arms you came at him, knocking the chair to which he was tied over. In the commotion one of your claws snapped the rope, and the General sprang up, sending you sprawling to the side.

He might’ve been bigger than you (even in your Oni form), but you were younger, and faster. You seized his ankles, digging your claws in and pulling. He fell flat on his face, and while he was stunned you pounced on his back, pinning him down. You pressed your knee into the back of his neck.

“You traitor! I always knew you had a soft spot for humans! You are a disgrace to the Oni!”

“I don’t care. My loyalties lie nowhere near you monsters.”

The General gasped with difficulty. “You speak as if you are not one of us.”

“As far as I’m concerned,” a high voice piped up from the sidelines, “they’re not one of you.”

You whirled around, heart already soaring, to see Nya stepping forward. She smiled at you—smiled!—and placed a hand on your shoulder. You gazed into each other’s eyes for a long time. The General suddenly stopped squirming under you.

“Ack…” you stood up suddenly, awkwardly realizing that you’d just choked him unconscious. “Oops.”

Now that you were at your full height, Nya stepped closer. She looked up at you, eyes glancing over your devilish face. Your heart throbbed with anxiety, but there was acceptance in her face, and she reached to grab two of your hands as she looked over the rest of your body.

“Do you trust me?” You murmured, anxious to hear her response. In that moment, you didn’t even care what the others thought. So long as this beautiful gem before you believed that you’d never hurt them—never hurt her—you’d be satisfied.

She took a second to respond. Then, with a little smirk, she brought a hand to cup your cheek. “I knew it couldn’t be true.”

“I was a spy,” you blurted. “At first.” Her eyes narrowed, and you scrambled to continue. “But you… you changed the way I thought about you ninjas. I stopped giving information after a few weeks. If anything, I’d give them misinformation. I wanted to keep you safe.”

Nya’s eyes sparkled. A huge grin curved her plump lips as she moved her hand to the back of your neck and pulled you down to kiss you.

When you pulled away, completely dazed with your heart thumping at a million miles an hour, she was still smiling. “I love you too. That’s why I knew you were on our side.”

You had forgotten about the others in the room. You jumped when Lloyd placed his hand on your shoulder and told you he was glad to have such an ally. The others echoed his sentiment, assuring you that they didn’t care what you were, they only cared what you were now, and that was their friend.

Nya shot you a mischievous look when they said that. “Maybe a little more than friends,” it seemed to say. You felt your cheeks darken again, and you returned the look with an eyebrow wiggle. That got the whole room laughing.

Looking at your friend’s faces, your only regret was not leaving the Oni sooner. Especially for her. “My flower,” you murmured under your breath, gaze lingering on the beautiful laughing girl.

there will be cake.

i finally finished my first fic, and it's greenflame! it takes place between possession and skybound. i spent a few days on it and i'm still not satisfied... it still feels a bit ooc and amateur to me, but please let me know what you think. here it is...

Sitting down for dinner with the other ninja, Kai had no intention of talking about anything serious, let alone marriage, and especially not how he should go about proposing to Lloyd. But picking at his bowl of chili, he looked around to his friends, watching them talk about their day with animated expressions and exaggerated hand gestures, observing Cole and Jay arguing about every detail of their training so they could trade insults while blushing whenever anyone (mostly Zane) pointed out just how closely they'd have to be watching each other to know such minor things about their routines. And when Kai glanced over to his sister she was already glancing his way with an exasperated smirk at Cole and Jay's antics.

The only absent one was Lloyd. The Green Ninja was training late, as usual, pushing himself to his limits. The perfectionism was at first a little annoying for Kai, who tended to take any show of exertion as a competition against him, but overtime he'd learned to accommodate his boyfriend, who was typically late to dinner or outings with the rest of them. The pressure Lloyd must have felt, every single day, to not only lead the rest of them but to also make his pretty much godly ancestors proud of him had been grinding on him even more as of late, and Kai didn't want to add to their young leader's troubles. Still though… after their last battle, almost losing Lloyd to possession had made him keenly aware of how fragile the normalcy of all their lives were.

At any time, they could find themselves under attack once more. Ninajo had a reputation for attracting the most dark-hearted, vengeant, and power-hungry of villains, and Kai had to wonder if there was some kind of sign posted out for all the tyrants coming to seize this particular place. Something massive and neon was advertising how siegable and conquerable this entire land was somewhere, he was sure.

But as a ninja, bound and entangled with all the rest of his team (a fate he would never want reversed or changed in any way), he knew he would lay down his life for any one of his friends if it ever came down to it. And, naturally, he knew in his heart that no matter how much he teased or gave Lloyd trouble, he would stand behind that completely unhinged god-in-training no matter what. Wherever Lloyd led him, he would follow. And it was because of this that he knew he had to make their relationship even more official, even more sacred, so that when villains like Morro or Chen or the rest came knocking again, Kai would know there was still a chance at a normal life, even a small part of it, in their own lives. That he could say that Lloyd was his in more way than one and come back home to that small piece of stability.

Now, watching his friends continue to taunt and push each other, a warm feeling suddenly overtook Kai, not unlike the sensation he got whenever he drank a nice cup of Wu's tea. He felt it blossom inside of him, a hot and protective surge that came whenever he thought of the others, especially Lloyd. He knew he could trust them completely, he could ask anything of them and they wouldn't treat him any differently for it.

So it was without any filter that he found himself asking, "Guys, if I were to hypothetically propose to someone… someone who's very uhm… career-driven and practically all-powerful, how would I go about asking them to do something absolutely ordinary like marriage?"

A small silence briefly overtook the table as the others, except for Cole who was still digging into his plate without interest in anything else, glanced around towards each other. Nya, on Kai's left side, was completely still all of a sudden and opposite him Zane and Jay exchanged looks.

Just as the stillness was starting to become unnerving, Zane, always practical, broke in, "Logically the best way would be to—"

"Oh my gosh, you guys," Jay all but shrieked. "Kai and Lloyd are going to get married!"

"Wait what????" Kai burst out, feeling his cheeks start to heat up. "I didn't say anything about—"

"Oh please," Jay scoffed, rolling his eyes. "You're the fire ninja, Kai, so whatever you're trying to cover up, you still burn holes right through it." He was picking at his bowl of chili delicately, like most of its contents offended him, and by the way he had complained about every other dish Cole had prepared for them, you would think it was genuine. But Kai knew the Blue Ninja would sneak lots of extra helpings of Cole's meals whenever he thought they weren't looking. And seeing as how most of Cole's food was… to put it plainly… bad, Kai knew it was because Jay was simply (and not so secretly) completely crazy for the Earth Master.

"You guys thought it was such a secret, but we could all tell what you were up to," Jay continued, matter of fact, then smirked. "The walls here are really thin, you know."

Kai groaned and buried his face in hands. "Okay," he sighed out. "So what if it is Lloyd?"

"I knew it!" Zane exclaimed from Cole's side, face lighting up. When the others looked to him, he explained, "Pixal told me they have a 95% compatibility rate. Lloyd's sensitivity and high emotional intelligence counterbalances Kai's hotheadedness and temper—"

"Yeah yeah we get it," Kai huffed, feeling called out.

"My vitals monitors indicate that your heart-rate speeds up whenever Lloyd appears," Zane added helpfully. "My data also suggests that Lloyd's libido increases whenever he watches you training."

Beside him, Nya made a choking sound. "Oh my god," she gasped, wiping away dribbles of water from her lips. "Please never say libido again, Zane."

Despite the embarrassment at having his secret relationship exposed so quickly, Kai couldn't help the way that information stroked his ego. All the time that little brat had been claiming to watch so closely to point out errors in Kai's form (as he always did) he was secretly checking Kai out shamelessly. It made him flush with more than a little contentment, but he got a hold of himself quickly, and managed to grit out, "Okay guys, that's enough."

"Where would they even get married though?" Jay pushed on, ignoring Kai entirely.

"Somewhere big enough for all of us," Zane pointed out. "I can compile a list of popular wedding locations and analyze them for suitability."

"No no," Jay dismissed, whipping his spoon around passionately so that a bit of chili hit Kai in the face. He wiped it off with a grimace as Jay continued to lecture Zane. "It should be somewhere perfect for the both of them..." Jay bit down on the handle of his spoon and then grinned widely at Kai. "I know just the place—my parent's junkyard!"

Kai blinked, caught off-guard. "Jay, I'm not marrying Lloyd in a junkyard—"

Across the table, Cole's face finally unfused from his plate long enough for him to shout, "Will there be cake? I'll definitely come if there's cake!"

"Always thinking with your stomach, right Cole?" Jay snarked. But the Earth Master chose to ignore him, much to Jay's disappointment.

As the others continued to conspire Lloyd and Kai's wedding, loudly describing each lavish detail — "Lloyd should wear all red so Kai can wear all green... and there should be dragons!!!" Jay contributed while Zane added, "Kai should put Lloyd in his lap and ride in on one to the ceremony" and Cole piped in, "And there should be triple stacked cake afterwards!" — Kai's ears picked up shuffled movement in the hallway. He sat up straight. Wu and Misako were out getting "vital" supplies like flavored tea and herbal medicines — old people errands — and they weren't expecting anyone else to come calling. It could only be Lloyd.

Getting that sensation he got whenever he was about to be cornered, he felt himself start to panic. "Guys, if you don't shut up now, I swear I'll send every single one of you to the Cursed Realm," Kai hissed out. "I don't even care if we're on the same team — you will all be banished for your crimes. This conversation is over."

But, of course, cause everything and everyone hated Kai, this was the exact conversation Lloyd chose just that moment to walk in on.

With a short glance around to the other ninja, he came into the room and a crushing silence followed as they all tracked him with their eyes. He walked casually, carrying a bowl laden with an excessive amount of Cole's chili (which wasn't that bad but it also wasn't that good either, so Kai felt Lloyd had filled it to the brim subconsciously) and settled down in his usual spot to the right of Kai, slowly lifting his spoon to his lips…. Lips that were twisted up in an unmistakable smirk, the one Kai knew and adored so well, that he loved to bite on — but right now, seeing the way it melted away the usual prim and proper princely beauty of Lloyd's face into the wild rawness of the conceded brat he really was, all Kai could think was Lloyd knows…. He's been listening in on the whole thing!

"What's all this about cake?" Lloyd asked, oh so innocently, as if he didn't know already, and Kai kind of wanted to manhandle him right then and there for being such an unyielding brat.

But before Kai could say or do anything to grab at any sort of control over the conversation, Jay leaned in closer to Lloyd, conspiratorially settling his chin into his cupped hand like he was about to tell the world's greatest secret. With a hauntingly straight face he said, "Only that Kai can't keep his eyes off yours."

… And then everything kind of blew up in Kai's face.

Nya and Zane burst out laughing and Cole let out a bellowing huff before slapping Jay across the back so hard the Blue Ninja's face almost landed in his uneaten bowl of chili (Kai wished with his whole heart that it really had). Jay glared briefly at Cole but then the Master of Earth said, "I guess that's why they call you the Master of Shocks! That was a good one, Jay."

Pure pride swelled the Master of Shocks' chest, making him look just like a puffed up little blue jay — which he technically was… though Kai could barely register the humor of it as sticky hot embarrassment exploded inside of him.

"Oh wow you guys," Nya finally managed to gasp as she held her sides, like she could fall apart from the delicious humiliation of it all. She wiped at her eyes, choking out, "Look at Lloyd's cheeks — they look like cherries!"

Lloyd's mouth was pressed together tightly, and his cheeks were definitely a deep scarlet that Kai took some satisfaction in seeing, but he knew his own cheeks were probably just as red and burning twice as hot.

And of course Jay would point that out. "Guys, check out Kai's face — he's burning up!"

"Oh the irony," Nya giggled.

"Red ninja indeed!" Zane chimed in with a grin that practically spilled off his face. And in that moment, Kai had never been more certain in his life that he was surrounded by traitors. Enemies.

Kai ground his teeth together and finally managed to squeeze out some sort of response. "You're all banished."

The other ninja, minus a cherry-colored Lloyd, started laughing again as Kai sat there, gripping the edge of the table and plotting revenge. Only Cole made any kind of move towards redemption, leaning closer to both Lloyd and Kai to say, "You know we're just teasing you two… We're really happy to see you making things more official. And just so you know, I would love to be there for you, even if there no's cake for me."

"You do know the whole point is so that Kai gets to keep the cake just for himself, don't you?" Jay smirked.

Before Kai could set fire to either himself or Jay, Cole turned to the Blue Ninja and smiled. "Don't worry, sparky, I'll make sure to claim a cake for myself too," he said, and proceeded to reach over so he could grope Jay's ass as the smaller ninja let out a high-pitched squeak.

"Who's the Master of Shock now?" Zane grinned as Jay started choking.

Nya pursed her lips and said, "Really? Right in front of my chili?"

Kai moaned and buried his face in his hands as the entire table descended into chaos. But it died out quickly as Lloyd stood up, his face unreadable, that silken smirk of his erased from his lips. As Kai peeked up at him, he couldn't help but feel… reverent. Lloyd was strong, and fierce, and brave. And more than that… he was the magnet that kept them gravitating to him, to their destiny. Their fates were inexplicably tied to his for the rest of their lives. They all shared a bond deeper than mere friends: they were each other's counterparts and focal points and homes.

And nobody was more at home with Lloyd than Kai.

"Kai," Lloyd began, and Kai felt the air rush out him as soon as Lloyd turned those ember-bright eyes right on his face. "Do… do you really want to marry me?"

Kai's heart was pounding far too fast. It felt like the adrenaline spark right before a battle. "Of course," he managed.

The other ninja were finally fully silent, their eyes wide and watchful. Feeling bold, Kai pushed away from the table and stood right in front of his boyfriend. Then he sank to his knees, his eyes never leaving Lloyd's, and swallowed. "You know that all of us are bound to you, and all of us would protect you with our lives, just as you would do for us. But the bond I share with you runs even deeper. I promised you that I would protect you, and that I would follow where you lead me, that you could always rely on me, so I would like to ask you now… Will you let me follow you forever? Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon, will you marry me?"

In all that time, Lloyd and Kai didn't look away from each other. The others remained blissfully quiet, but there was a current of anticipation coursing through the room.

It felt like an age before Lloyd cleared his throat and said, "Of course I will.... Someone has to keep my cake away from Cole, after all."

Kai groaned but found himself grinning anyways. "You're insufferable," he told Lloyd and pushed up from the floor.

"That only means you're even more perfect a match," Nya pointed out from Kai's side, but she hugged her brother tightly, patting him on the back. They both knew how much this meant to him...

Lloyd and Kai returned to their places at the table and tried to resume eating normally, but they kept glancing over to each other until Jay scoffed and said, "You two, honestly, go get a room."

"Quiet, sparky, you'll get yours soon," Cole winked and Jay started to protest.

"If you think I have any interest at all in a dusty piece of rock like you—"

"Yeah yeah," Cole waved him off. "Keep pretending, bluey."

Lloyd laughed and reached over to offer his hand for Kai to hold. Kai took it gently, and didn't miss the way everyone stared at their joined hands, their fingers twining together.

"No matter what comes in the future, we'll face it together," Lloyd promised Kai, and they felt each other's pulses jump at his words.

Kai nodded, soaking up the way the light hit the pale gold of Lloyd's hair, making it look just like a glowing halo. This boy would be the death of him, he just knew it. He couldn't help the smile spreading across his face. He raised a spoonful of chili towards Zane, Cole, and Jay and gave his best unhinged grin. "The future looks bright for you and me both, but right now I say we take these three down for being so obnoxious," he suggested and Lloyd grinned too, wild and full of fire, just like Kai.

"What?" Zane sputtered. "I didn't do anything!"

"Wait!" Jay cried out. "But we helped you propose to him, Kai!"

Lloyd snorted while Kai rolled his eyes. "Sure you did," the Master of Fire said, then launched the first spoonful at Jay's surprised face.

"Food fight!!!" Nya cried, pounding her fist on the table before she upended her entire plate on Kai's head.

Kai gasped, shaking sticky shrimp out of his hair. Reaching up, he felt the clingy, pasty sauce of the dish matting his once-immaculate spikes, and he shrieked, "GET HER, LLOYD!"

With a roar, the table fell into chaos again. As the ninja threw handfuls of food at each other — except for Cole who sat there lamenting the waste of it all — Lloyd and Kai looked at each other and smiled. Everything that they had ever done, all that they had ever faced and clawed their way through, had been worth it for moments just like this. With a laugh, Kai leaned in and kissed Lloyd in front of everyone, not even caring to keep anything concealed anymore.

He didn't even care when Nya shouted, "Gross!" and splashed the rest of her water on them. With a smirk, he pulled Lloyd closer and set a palm to the boy's back to dry out his clothes.

"You know," Zane said afterwards, as everyone settled down. "Someone has to clean all this up before Master Wu returns."

"Not me!" Jay was the first shout.

"We will," Lloyd said calmly, volunteering an unwilling Kai before he could protest. "We started this after all."

"They had it coming," Kai argued but stopped when Lloyd cast him a sharp look.

"You said you'd follow wherever I lead," Lloyd reminded Kai, then smirked his signature smirk when Kai let out yet another groan.

"Alright then," Kai sighed. "Lead me to the dishes."

"Get used to this," Jay said smugly. "This is going to be married life for you from now on."

Cole stood up from his seat and brought the rest of his plate down, shrimp-first, on Jay's head. "And this is going to be married life with me," he promised the Master of Lightning and walked away smiling.

"Welcome to the family," Nya said to Lloyd before standing up from the table.

"Can't be crazier than my family," Lloyd called after her, then turned to Lloyd. "Well, let's get cleaning."

Kai sighed melodramatically but didn't complain. He had promised to follow Lloyd wherever he lead him, even if it was just to another mess to clean up. So he smiled as he knelt down to pick up pieces of dinner from the floor with Lloyd. He wouldn't have traded it for anything else.

Chapter 4: A quick trip to Jamanakai village

[Name] groaned when she saw the time on her phone. She woke up early, again. It was usually rare for her but she kept having nightmares, which kept her sleep short-lived. Maybe she wasn't accustomed to the new environment yet.

A week passed since she, Kai, and Nya moved to the Monastery. She found out from Nya how the Ninja alongside Sensei Wu defeated Lord Garmadon. So now they would all be at peace. Keyword; for now.

Everyone seemed to forget the incident altogether. Lord Garmadon wouldn't come back right? He was defeated after all. [Name] couldn't help but worry. It felt too convenient, but she tried to ignore it. She didn't want to bother the others as well. It was just a bad feeling.

Getting up she smiled as her eyes met an unconscious Nya under the covers, laying in the bed next to hers. She and Nya were sharing a room now, so they had to do some adjustments. She got changed into an outfit she bought when she and Nya went shopping in Jamanakai village one day. Nya insisted on her buying it so she couldn't resist. Making her way to the kitchen she passed the hallway, a door was open and she couldn't help but get a glimpse of sleeping Jay. The others must be asleep as well.

She opened the fridge and took out the box of milk, deciding a bowl of cereal would be a good start of the day. As she opened the counter, she almost jumped at the sudden noise from behind her,

"Are you up as well?"

She spun around, putting a hand on her beating heart to calm herself. When she noticed Sensei Wu looking back at her she let out a sigh of relief.

"...Oh! It's you, Sensei."

He nodded. "Were you expecting anyone else? My apologies if I scared you."

"No, sorry. I just didn't expect anyone to be awake by now."

"I see. I could say the same thing about you."

She nervously played with her hair, "Yeah, I'm not sleeping enough lately to be completely honest with you."

There was no point in lying, she thought. He might as well understand. He was her Sensei so he might help her with anything.

Sensei Wu raised a brow. "How so?"

[Name] sighed again. "I'm still anxious over Lord Garmadon. I can't pinpoint my finger on exactly why..."

Sensei Wu hummed and remained silent in thought. "Do you care to join me in meditating?"

[Name] was visibly surprised. Sensei Wu wanted to meditate with her? She took a moment to gather her thoughts, making sure her ears weren't deceiving her. "Really?"

Wu nodded. He turned around and with the help of his bamboo stick, which he probably didn't need anyway, make his way to a room where he took his time meditating. [Name] quickly caught up to him. As they both made their way inside [Name] closed the door behind her. She analyzed Wu taking a seat, his legs crossed. Just as he was about to close his eyes (Name) spoke.

"Wait, Sensei..."

He looked back at her, seemingly confused and waited for her to continue.

"Can I tell you something?"

"Why, of course, dear."

[Name] sat down across from him. Her eyes were looking everywhere but his, her thumb pressed and making potions on her palm. She swallowed. "The day when I met Kai... I was attacked by some strangers, remember?"

Wu nodded.

"Well... I didn't just manage to get away from them."

Wu watched [Name] with anticipation.

"When that man stabbed me I passed out. But when I woke up they were... unconscious."

"What do you mean by unconscious?" he asked, a tint of worry reflecting his white eyebrows.

"I think they were... dead? I don't know how, or by who, or if they were even killed but... I just found them there," [Name] kept herself from raising her voice. She felt an anxious feeling crawling over her. Was Sensei Wu making second thoughts about letting a strange girl who is probably being hunted by who knows who or what stay over his territory? What if whatever is after her going to come to the Monastery and turn everything upside down?

Wu's eyes grew bigger but he kept his composure. He slowly stroked his long beard. "Has something like this occurred to you before?"

She shook her head. "No! Never. I've never been in a situation like this before."

"I see..." He thought for a moment, but then returned [Name]'s gaze with a smile. "You do not need to worry, dear. You'll be safe here in the Monastery. I'll look into this matter myself, while you can sit back and spend your time on things you like. After you've done with your chores, of course." He laughed at his own joke.

[Name] giggled slightly at his attempt to ease the mood. "Thank you, Sensei."

"Of course. With the ninja, Ninjago will be at ease. Alongside you."

"I was wondering about one thing. Is there any possibility for me to join them? - I mean like become a ninja too. I know I'm not the master of anything like they are but, I can't help but want to become strong too and take care of myself."

Wu was surprised once again. "Really?"

[Name] lowered her head. "It's okay if that's not possible... I'm just wondering, is all."

Wu hummed and smiled. "I'm sure you can train too. It's not like I forbid you from it. Do as you desire, dear."

From ear to ear, [Name] grinned. "Really?!"

Wu smiled again. "Of course."

She shot up from her seat and made her way to the door. But before she could leave Wu called her name,

"I know how anticipated you might be to go and train but I have a favor to ask you."

"Huh? What is it?"

"Could you go to Jamanakai village and shop some stuff for the fridge? I asked Kai to go get them yesterday but it seems like he forgot."

[Name] groaned slightly. "Really?"

Sensei Wu chuckled at her demeanor. "It won't take long. You can train when you return."

"Fin- I mean, of course, Sensei. What do I need to get?"

Wu smiled. "I have written a list, but I gave it to Kai. He probably has it now too."

[Name] opened the door, "He must have it in his room. See you later, Sensei", she said before closing the door behind her, not before bowing quickly at her Sensei. Wu smiled and closed his eyes, going back to meditating. Seems like he would meditate with [Name] another time.

[Name] took quiet steps, not to alert anyone, as she made her way to Kai's shelf next to his bed. She giggled at all the ninja sleeping, not so peacefully. Well, except of course Zane. It took her a while to find the list, under all Kai's fan mail. She rolled her eyes. Not one week passed and he already had fan mails. Whatever. Not like she cared anyway.

She then walked out of the Monastery and made her way down the mountain. It would be a pain to walk back on top later, since she didn't have a dragon like the others. She mumbled under her breath in frustration. Why couldn't she have a dragon? Or have an element like they did? It's not fair. She wasn't jealous. Not at all.

When she finally arrived at Jamanakai village she realized she forgot her phone. Searching her pockets she cursed under her breath. She could be so forgetful sometimes, but whatever. Not like she could do anything about that now. She just needed to get the groceries and get back home.

The bell on top of the door rang, as she opened it, signaling her arrival.

A woman from behind the counter raised her head, her attention sifting from whatever she was doing a moment ago. With a smile, she greeted her first customer of the day. "Good morning! What can I help you with?"

"Good morning. I just have to get some groceries really quick."

"Okay! Just ask me if you need any help, honey."

[Name] smiled at her kind and upbeat attitude. Who knew villagers were that kind? Not unlike people from Ninjago city.

She looked at her list; fruits, cheese, bread, vegetables, etc, etc. Basic necessities, really. She quickly got what she needed and bring them to the counter to pay. The cashier put them inside a bag and told her the cost. After [Name] paid she and the cashier exchanged their gratitude.

Opening the door she was surprised to see all the villagers running around, panicked. She was at a loss for words, entirely confused, and was also beginning to panic. As a farmer ran towards her he grabbed her and pulled her inside the grocery store. She let out a yell of surprise and annoyance.

Just as he closed the door he peeked from the glass window, inspecting the commotion from outside.

"Hey, what's going on?", [Name] asked the man. He ignored her, his eyes glued on the window.

"Mr. Brown?", the cashier asked.

He ignored her as well, mumbling something under his breath. [Name] and the cashier shared a look of confusion and concern. [Name] tapped the man on the shoulder. "Mister? Are you alright?"

As the man was shaken out of his thoughts he spun around. He was covered in sweat and was shaking like leaf. "I-it's Lord G-Garmadon! He has returned!" he spat out, pulling his hair.

"What?!", both [Name] and the cashier stumpered.

"That can't be possible..." the woman from behind the counter bit her nails.

Everything around [Name] was a blur. The voices and screams echoed from a distance. Breathing was becoming harder and harder. The feeling that was bothering her wasn't just a feeling, it seemed. Wu's words sounded like lies to her at the moment. How could they protect her now? Had they even heard the news? She searched for her phone. Shit. That's right, she forgot it back home. What would happen now? What would she do? What could she do? She felt useless. If only she had an elemental power. If only she was stronger. If only she was destined to become one of them. Her legs were shaking and she struggled to keep her balance.

A hand was placed on her shoulder and she was able to hear again.

"-re you okay?"

She turned her head and noticed the cashier from before. Her gaze was filled with concern.

"Huh?", she managed to say.

"Are you alright? You seemed like you were having a panic attack."

"Of course I'm not alright! Lord Garmadon is back!"

"No, dear. Didn't you hear? It was a false alarm."

[Name] tried to catch her breath, trying to make sense of the woman's words. A false alarm?

"Hold on. I'll bring you some water, honey. Just wait here."

[Name] swallowed, become more at ease. How could that be a false alarm? People shouldn't lie about that! It wasn't a joking matter! Either that was a stupid mistake or a dumb joke from someone. When the cashier returned she gave [Name] a bottle of water.

"You don't have to pay me for that. It's on the house."

[Name] almost drank half the bottle. She let out an exhale to catch her breath. "Thank you so much, Mrs..."

"Charlotte", she smiled. "It's nothing, really. Do you need anything? I don't mind if you would like to rest here for a bit."

[Name] shook her head. "Not it's fine. Thank you for your help, Mrs. Charlotte. I'll be going now."

She and Charlotte exchanged farewells as she made her way outside the shop. A group of people were gathered around a circle and [Name] decided to go inspect it. Mr. Brown was there as well. As she got closer she noticed a young boy being hung on a house by his sweater's hood, his blonde hair slightly peeking out. He was fighting the air, probably trying to get down. He was shouting something at the people under him. As [Name] tip-toed from behind the crowd she noticed the ninja mocking the boy. Seems like they did hear the news. Were they the cause of why the boy was up there? What was the false alarm anyway?

She pushed through the crowd and managed to get to the ninja. "What's going on?"

The ninja's attention turned to her, making them light up. "Oh, here you are! We were wondering where you've been", Kai said.

[Name] hadn't completely calmed down, to which Zane noticed. "Are you alright, [Name] ?"

"Y-yeah. What are you all doing?", she asked and looked back at the poor boy hung up on the house's roof.

"Oh him?", Jay laughed. "This brat is the son of Garmadon and he thinks he can just come here and steal candy."

"Lord Garmadon has a son?"

"Yep, and we have to give him a lesson not to mess with us! He needs to know there are consequences for his actions", Kai crossed his arms.

"But he's just a kid?", [Name] elaborated.

"Relax, [Name]," Cole rested his arm on her shoulder. "We're not taking this to the extreme. We're just teaching him a simple lesson. That is all."

"Alright..."

A sudden yell caught all their attention. "You just made me your nemesis! Just mark my words, you'll pay for this!", the young boy grunted, still trying to let himself free.

The citizens, unfazed by his demeanor, simply laughed, as Zane bought candy and passed them to the ninja. [Name] hesitantly took hers, since she couldn't help but feel bad for the small guy.

Cole took a bite of his candy, "Next time, try paying for your candy."

Kai joined after Cole, "Crime doesn't pay, muchacho. You can take that to the bank."

Jay took a bite of his, taking a moment to savor the sweetness from it, "Mmm... cotton candy", he taunted.

[Name] felt awful for sitting there motionless just observing the humiliation of the poor child.

The crowd kept on laughing and the Ninja decided it was enough, as they made their way back to their dragons. When they noticed [Name]'s absence they turned around. "[Name], are you coming?", Cole asked.

"Y-yeah, just a minute! I forgot I have to get something."

"Okay!", they said before leaving.

Soon enough the citizens returned back to their jobs. When she made sure no one was around, [Name] placed down the bag of groceries. She got on a bench and took hold of the small boy from his armpits. With a bit of struggle, she managed to help him get down. "There!"

He was taken aback and jumped a few steps behind. He cautiously observed her with his big green eyes. [Name] rubbed the back of her head awkwardly, but then an idea came to mind. She took the candy from her pocket and removed the wrapper. She bend her knees to reach his height level, stretching out her arm, she hold the candy, not wanting to get too close for comfort. He hesitantly reached over and took the candy. He observed her once again, but now opened his mouth to speak,

"Why did you help me?"

[Name] got up and took the bag of groceries. "Because I know what it's like."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

[Name] smiled and shuffled his hair. When he realized his hood was down he immediately raised it. She giggled and started walking away. He remained staring back at her, confused.

They were the same?

He frowned and ran off, thinking to himself, what a weird girl.
