Tomura, Dabi, and Spinner Edition!
it's the dead of night but these three are still very much alive, burdened by the secrets they keep to themselves. sometimes, they tell you about it - only when you're fast asleep.

The difference. The fucking difference in how the world perceives Tomura and how the LOV perceives him. He was their hero, he listened to them, never judged them for who they were, and told them that they didn't have to suffer. If the world was hurting them he would hurt the world back..

You did it, Tomura, you really did it

tomura needs control, after being used for so long by the people who were supposed to take care of him, he needs it, thats why he so obsessed with the destruction of the world, especially the hero world.
dabi needs to relinquish his control, while still feeling like he has worth. this comes from him having to rely on himself for so long, training himself, learning how to live on his own, all while being looked down on.
now, if tomura fucked dabi the way he deserves, both of them would be engaging in a fulfilling dynamic that gives them both what they need which is control for tomura, and being wanted while not having to take control. this would help a lot of their personal problems and they would learn to heal, together
once they get together they would become the ultimate power couple, and personally i think tomura would realise that yes, he wants to destroy, but he also wants to rebuild and create something of his own, something better, a society where him and all his associates can live freely and happily, and the false society of heros is exposed for the sham it is
this would also fulfil the desires of the rest of the league. toga, being accepted. twice and spinner, the same. dabi would get his revenge and the downfall of heros, his father exposed as the scum he is, and compress, well i dont know what compress wants, i havent watched mha is forever lol
now they have an actual goal, something more substantial than just destruction, but how, you say, do they get there?
i feel as though with this new understanding of themselves, they will become even more powerful, tomura will be able to eject afo from his mind, and use him to weaken the heros, as well as becoming more powerful as he understands himself. an unlocking of quirks of sorts.
dabi would have something to live for, tomura, and he would start to take care of himself more, not just enough to burn out endeavor and himself. this would make him more powerful in the long term, and he would be able to do more damage to the heros
toga, spinner, twice, and compress would be fighting harder once they know they have a substantial future to look forward to, and more hope that they can get there. they would have more faith in dabi and tomura, and more drive
essentially, if dabi and tomura hooked up, they would become too powerful for anyone to stop, no one else in the league would die, the heros can suck dick, LOV for the win :)
i think like... 99% of the problems in the mha universe could have been fixed if tomura railed dabi

This was imagined as a spin-off of @codenamesazanka ‘s beautiful AU, but I guess it could be read as some kind of continuation to my own “A gift”. After all, the theme is kinda the same. What? I’m really fascinated by those hands.
A brief summary of the AU: All Might manages to kill Afo on the first try, and Tomura and Kurogiri are captured. After the 15 yo boy spends months in Tartarus, finally Toshinori decides to take action and get the boy out to reform him himself, even though at the cost of gradual retirement. It’s a rough path. But wounds heal, with time and patience.

Something I've found hilarious is the multiple unintentional connections between Shigaraki & Rei, however loose.
I mean physically there's a few things. Both have white hair and originally both had shorter hair but later grew it out (both did so unintentionally, Shigaraki's was a product of self-neglect, while Rei's seems to have been pressure to appear more wife-like for Enji)
Both have the "sharp" eyeshape (see below) & a similar sharp angles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
& both had the same eyecolor until they suffered a cataclysmic snap.
In the anime, Rei's eyes turn silver before she burns Shoto, Tenko's eyes turned Red when he awakens his quirk & kills his family, which brings me to my next point:
Both were hurt by their families & hurt their families.
Shigaraki's is pretty obvious, his father abused him while his grandparents either spouted platitudes or but the guilt onto him (I.E, you'll make me cry), his mother does similar but attempts to make weak justifications for her husband & Hanna, well Hanna was just a scared kid.
Rei was sold when she was likely a highschooler, forced into a marriage she didn't want & abandoned by her parents the moment they received the payout.
As seen in the kitchen flashback when she called her mother, who although we don't hear her, we can assume Rei's mother is doing the exact same thing Tomura's grandparents did. Just talking out her ass while Rei is in emotional distress (taking about how even her own children remind her of her abuser/rapist).
Rei by this point is at her "Decay" moment & she knows it, she's actively making an effort to remove her kids from the hell that is (& has been) driving her to destroy the immediate source of her suffering (Enji).
I honestly believe that had it been Enji who'd walked into the kitchen instead of Shoto, Rei wouldn't have stopped at just scalding him. No, that's just to blind him so she can strike properly.
Alas Shoto did walk into the kitchen & the price was Rei's psychosis temporarily getting the best of her, blindly attacking Shoto (likely believing he was Enji about to try "something" again) & immediately stopping once she hears Shoto's cries of pain. She dragged herself out of a psychotic episode to heal him after realzing her grave mistake, that's impressive honestly.
In a way, the two backstories parallel eatchother. Shigaraki's was widespread destruction morphed into hatred, while Rei's was singular act of survival & aggression that turned sour.
Both were products of their environments & abusers, neither were ever given the chance to be anything outside of their preceved roles (Villain & Broodmare) or had their stories told on their terms.
Also they both have wide-ranged emitter quirks that are primarily destructive by nature & can "decay" flesh, so that's pretty neat.
there's a really interesting (and definitely unintentional) parallel between Izuku and Touya in the way they're both willing to potentially cripple themselves using a quirk that's too powerful for their bodies due to expectations placed on them by a pro hero they admire, which leads them both to a state where their senses of self-worth are at risk of collapse if/when they're unable to meet those expectations.
Touya was young and impressionable when he was met with the expectation of being a hero strong enough to defeat All Might and the story tells us that he's incredibly aware of the fact that Enji is only having children for that purpose. as soon as Touya wasn't able to meet expectations he was cast aside, but he continued to train despite burning himself repeatedly because he was desperate for approval and love and had no sense of self-worth outside of his quirk and heroics because Enji is an emotionally neglectful parent who saw no worth in a child who couldn't reach the potential he required of them. this neglect eventually leads Touya down an increasingly (self)destructive path.
with Izuku it's a little different. he wasn't born into expectations he couldn't meet, but his sense of self-worth is still tied to heroics as a career, even before meeting All Might. at the start of the series, Izuku has known he's quirkless for roughly a decade, yet he hasn't entirely given up on his pipe dream of being a pro hero and seems to reject other career paths that would also allow him to help others. he has a low sense of self-worth (in part thanks to Bakugou's bullying), and though Izuku is a good hero in the future with a genuine want to save others it's also important to note that part of his want to be a hero is also a want to be an admirable inspiration to others the way All Might was to him. Izuku wants to be a hero because of the way it would make him feel. and then he meets All Might, who he admires (hero worships) more than anyone else in the world, and suddenly his pipe dream is a reality. Toshinori doesn't necessarily mean to bury Izuku under the weight of expectations the same was as Enji did to Touya, but those expectations exist all the same. Izuku gains a power his body isn't initially compatible with and he suffers because of it by repeatedly and traumatically breaking his own bones because All Might gave him a quirk, and with that quirk came a sense of purpose and expectations of greatness. Toshinori talks a lot about Izuku being the next symbol of peace and Izuku debuting himself to the world during the sport's festival. that's a lot of pressure to put on a child. and Izuku often has moments where he thinks he's fallen short and All Might may regret choosing him as a successor.
in both cases, a child puts himself under immense pressure and causes himself physical harm in order to meet the expectations of his hero. Touya needs to meet Enji's expectations because if he can't than why was he born and what right does he have to exist; Izuku needs to meet All Might's expectations because if he can't then All Might could change his mind and regret making Izuku his successor, and that takes away Izuku's only chance at becoming a hero.
