okay so since it's not going to be finished anytime soon i'm officially aiming to have my buddie haunted mansion au fic ready for summerofbuddie week 7 'alternate universes', which should give me plenty of time to get it done!!! (in theory. reality is,,,, different.)

i probably won't be writing a fic for week 3 this week because the theme is 'smut' and i,,, am a delicate flower physically incapable of writing it. (but you bet i'll be reading it bc yall are geniuses.) i might??? do the gif/video challenge for the week??? if i can get my shit together??? but we shall see

in the meantime i'm working on the next chapter of 'hold me' and it is!! exciting!! we're finally getting into some of the fluffy buckley-diaz family feels and i am very excited

Recoil looked up and snorted. “Right.” She turned back to the stubborn as fuck stain on her bucket. “Talk kark about something else. Everybody knows eerie shit happens when CCs are close together.” She had seen what went down when Marshal Commander Cody and Commander Doom had accidentally bumped into each other. Goosebumps broke out at the mere wisp of the memory and it hadn’t even been bad, or battle conditions. Or anything like what happened after Commander Faye—

“No, I swear,” Crop insisted and Recoil smothered the urge to rub her temples.

“You ain’t seen shit,” Forest chipped in, flopping down next to her and graciously helping himself to her blaster oil.

“You’re welcome,” she hissed and grinned nastily when he slowly put the oil down again.

“Anyway,” Forest continued, turning back to Crop, “as I was saying, you ain’t seen shit. Stop spreading this banthashit or you’ll catch crap.”

Crop tried hard to hide his embarrassment, Recoil would give him that.

“What are they teaching on Kamino these days,” Forest sighed. “We can’t have two CCs within five feet of each other or you’ll literally piss your blacks when the Curse goes batshit. So there’s no way you’ve seen the batch all together.”

Crop’s shoulders drooped. “Okay, maybe it was just a holocall with General Kenobi. But I swear Marshal Commanders Cody, Bly, Ponds, Wolffe, and Fox were there. The whole batch.”

Now that was interesting and disconcerting. Recoil grabbed the blaster oil Forest tried to inconspicuously snag. “What the hells’ brawl needs three systems armies and the homefront?” Campaign planning with two and more battalions already was a headache and a half because despite more soldiers in the dirt, life expectancy dropped ridiculously low.

Crop held up his hands. “No, dude—“

Recoil raised a brow.

“Sergeant,” he stuttered out, flushing red under her unimpressed stare. “It was about the Curse.”

“Did the commanders update containment protocols again when one of them goes berserk?”

“Something’s wrong with it.”

“Fucking hell,” Forest breathed.

“Something is wrong with it,” Recoil echoed. “Something is wrong with the Curse.”

Crop shrugged. “Seems like it. Marshal Commander Cody cleared the war room immediately.”

“Eyes only,” Recoil muttered to herself. “Shit is going to go down if they up the top secret.”

Sunday, Cookie jumped off the bed and after a moment, started screaming in pain, refusing to put any weight on her front left leg. We rushed her to the vet and they did an Xray. They found that she had several hairline fractures caused either by a fungal infection or cancer.

The best course of action is amputation as the infection is on her upper leg bone and not in her chest cavity. If left alone with just pain medication, the bone would continue to weaken and break. She's still so full of life and Faye's (my fiancee) ESA (Emotional Support Animal).

Apparently, this isn't entirely uncommon with greyhounds and they're able to recover and adapt as tripods, so we're relieved we're not alone in this, but it's still an emotional roller coaster that we're still processing.

Cookie is on medication to help her be as comfortable as possible until Thursday and we're keeping an eye on her. Thank you again if you donate and/or reblog. For any kindness you may give, we can't thank you enough.

“when do you think mama's gonna be home, hm?” jack quietly inquires to alpine. gently patting her back while she lays comfortably on his lap. alpine shifts looking up at jack with wide eyes, her ears fluttering at the sound of your title around the house. jack chuckles scratching behind her ears, wondering how a cat can be so adorable.

recently his schedule has been clearing up which meant shorter days in the studio, less days away from home and more time for you. he missed you during his hectic work days especially since your schedules clashed so much, you barely got to see each other despite living in the same house. he fell so easily into a routine with you now that he’s home more and today was one of those days. a few hours ago jack had came back from studio, took a small nap, made a small dinner (very small since his cooking skills are very limited) for the two of you, took alpine on a walk around the neighborhood in a cat sling (which you think he hates wearing but he actually loves it)and finally got ready for bed. during that time he got a message from you telling him you’d be working late due to some complications in some documents that make jack’s head hurt to even think about. it’s now around midnight and you still haven’t gotten home, there wasn’t any other updates from you after you sent around seven.

worry bubbles in jack’s chest as time goes by, it wasn’t out of the ordinary that you came home late especially recently since you’ve been busy with projects at work. he didn’t want to sound clingy but he missed you when you weren’t home with him, only alpine and the many house plants you’ve names to keep him company. he realized how this how you must've felt when he was gone. jack has also gotten so used to sleeping in bed with you that he can’t sleep without you. ever since you started dating you always slept together which made it difficult when he was on tour and the only remedy for that was sleeping on face time with a build-a-bear teddy that smelled like you; call him crazy but it helped but is a secret kept from everyone except you. hence why he’s currently staying up so late, it doesn’t matter how long he has to wait or how tired he feels after work. he wants to be there when you get home. make sure you come home safe and sound. this became a sort of routine between the two of you, though you always tell jack there’s no need for him to stay up, knowing how early he gets up to get the most out of his day— jack is as stubborn as a bull, it didn’t matter what time he wakes up the next day, he just wants to be with you. you don’t know the exact reason as to why he waits for you to come home. all you know is that he wants to make sure you come home safe and that keeps you content. jack is also shy to tell you the exact reason so to keep himself from embarrassment he’ll be keeping the real reason to himself.

jack sits in the lounge, his laptop atop his lap looking over emails and and beat samples when he had the chance while his other mindlessly pets alpine, being sure not to do to much because jack cannot handle another one of her bites or scratched. this was one of jack’s favorite ways to pass time while waiting for you, sometimes he’d be reading a book or watching show. after a while jack gets bored of his scrolling and moves to the kitchen to make himself a cup of tea, alpine following behind him. her meow’s resonating throughout the home. as he pours hot water into his mug he hears the sound of the door rattling. you’re home. hurriedly, jack dips his tea bag into the mug before plucking alpine in his arms before she can get to the door before him– meaning she gets to see you first, which he was not going to let happen. with alpine safe in his arms, jack jogs his way to the main entrance, rocking on his toes like a little child. he’s excited you’re home but when is he not?

a beeping noise emits from the door and soon reveals you in your full glory, beautiful as ever. alpine meows at your arrival as a wide smile grows on jacks face “welcome home.” he welcomes in a gentle tone. the sound of his voice makes you heart warm, a voice you’ve been yearning to hear this whole day.

“stayed up again?” you implore, pulling off your shoes before walking into the threshold. approaching your lover, awaiting your warmth.

“actually i was catching up on emails n stuff, ended up losing track of time.” he reasons, excuse the same as the last. watching as you coo at alpine before taking her in your arms, purring as she get’s comfortable in your arms. jack’s heart feels full at the sight. you nod absentmindedly at his reason, walking into the kitchen. jack hasn’t given his welcome home kiss yet, huffing with a pout— unsatisfied, he follows you like alpine did him earlier.

“did you not miss me?” he whines wrapping his arms around your waist, halting your movement. you giggle at his clingy behavior melting as he presses a kiss to your lips. a content sighs leaves him— finally feeling his lips against yours after a long day. alpine meows again, ever so talkative. jack pulls away from you, leaning his cheek against the crown of your head. joking about alpine always ruining the mood. basking in the comforting silence and alpines purrs, forgeting about the tea sitting on the counter— gradually getting cold.

“you don’t always have to wait up for me, you know.” looking up at him, taking in his features- counting over the freckles that adorn his face. a face you’d never tire of. eyes full of love and appriciation jack almost melts at the sight of you looking at you, almost falling in love with you over again. a loving smile adorns his face, a hand brushing hair out of your face. he replies,

“i’d always wait for you my love, you know that.”

ebonwick is a village rooted in tradition. the outsiders will be shunned at the door, the approved gods will be worshipped, and the hunters will respect the hunt. most importantly, nothing will change. so when seren marrow brings an outsider into ebonwick, and sets her grand plans into motion, everyone’s way of life is shaken. seren must protect herself from the hatred, horror, and heretics. it’s trial by fire, but at least the hunters will honour their dance.

I’ve seen one of your posts mentioning your plans for The Muse (which btw I hope you manage to get to I hope to see where this goes🙏) and I remember you saying about new characters and stuff

So I got to ask, does this mean that there would be different RO’s with each book with like a few still around? If that’s the case would breaking off relationships from the previous books be an option as well?

The amount of drama that would happen is insane

This is a fantastic question! I don't want to give to much away, but I'll lay out what I've been thinking so far.

First of all 6 of the characters are freshmen, 3 of them are sophomores, and we have 1 foreign exchange student. These facts alone will continuously change some dynamics throughout your MC's journey.

Initially I planned to have all the characters do a required study abroad during their junior year, but I've been mulling that idea over a lot. I'm thinking about instead doing a side story for the summer before junior year. I think that I would prefer to keep all the characters consistent during the normal school year until MC graduates.

During that summer study abroad you'll have a brand new cast of characters. If your MC is in a closed monogamous relationship that will greatly impact your summer experience. You could break up with your partner or decide to open up your relationship for the summer! Not to say that you won't see your partner or friends during that summer away. You will have some ROs in this side story, but they probably wont appear in later updates. I'm thinking strictly summer flings.

Your relationship with Sebastien at the end of freshman year will determine whether or not he sticks around once his study abroad is over. The three sophomores, Karla, Faye, and Silas will graduate a year before MC so again your relationship with them will determine how much they show up after MC's junior year.

The big question is what will happen once MC graduates and heads out into the real world. I think that overall I'll keep basically the same cast and MC will probably stick around and officially move to NYC I might add 1 or 2 new romance options. Maybe something workplace/internship related.

All this to say that I want readers to really get a fluid and realistic experience. People come and go in real life so I feel it should be the same in stories as well. Your MC might date 3 or more of the main ROs throughout their journey, people break up and make up all the time. You could play safe, simple and clean or decide to have your MC's dating life get a little messy.

"Fail Safe" by Goldmonger - Superman pushes himself training to his limits, as a contingency for the times when he loses his powers. Though Batman is a world-class teacher, a few of the most important lessons are taught instead by 13-year-old Robin (Jason).

"Six of Swords" by campitor - Six vignettes detailing the birth of the Red Hood and the deaths of sons, from UTH to Lost Days. Probably one of the most underappreciated fics I've come across, this story definitely deserves more attention. Character study, canonically villainous Red Hood.

"Bloodstains Won't Make It Matter" by skylarkblue - Black Mask does murder Stephanie Brown. Red Hood resurrects her, and together they walk the path of vengeance. Gruesome deaths, even more gruesome resurrection, shopping, friendship, dramatic flair, villainy, dark themes. (Written for @jaystephevents, no ship).

"Sold to Wonder Woman (by my evil adoptive father Batman)" by JeanjacketCarf - Description: ‘Wonder Woman’ Those two words that became famous and popular. Never did I see myself being bought by her, nor be near her. Being sold, treated like an object, hurt. But being treated more better than you were used to being treated, feels better

"Hood" by CrimeAlley1048 - The Mad Hatter's latest scheme traps Jason and Tim within Jason's mind. Featuring Batfamily-compliant Red Hood.

"Growing Like A Breeze" by whaleofatime - Jason & Bruce cope with Jason's deathday anniversary. The sweetest deathday anniversary fic of all time.

"BATMAN HITS THE RED HOOD WITH HIS BATARANG" by redboard (Ink) - Batman: Under the Red Hood: The Movie: The Dice Game.

"Alternative Means of Acquisition" by Imbecamiel - Jason helps Bruce during a visit to LexCorp. Set during the Robin days.

"won't ask you to survive me" by katadesmoi - Talia & Jason, prelude to UtH, just 758 words. In which Jason carves himself a weapon, and Talia tries to keep things from breaking.

"Upside Down" by withthekeyisking - Dick is transformed into his 8-year-old, newly orphaned runaway self, and Jason must earn his trust.

Neighbours by Aingeal98 - The mysterious Shiva and her young daughter move in next door to civilian Bruce and his young son Jason. Shiva and Bruce become extremely involved PTA parents, Cass and Jason become adorable friends. Take notes on how this fic writes Lady Shiva, this is how you write Lady Shiva. Great characterization for all involved. Cass and Shiva are the stars of the show, and Jason is a solid supporting character. (Unlike the other fics here which are completed, this story is an ongoing work in progress for now, but it's the kind of story that is enjoyable even without having an ending yet.)

"Come Little Children" by TravelingRiversideBlues - A certain kid meets Batman in Crime Alley. Major character death.

"a ghost in the grey daylight" by Goldmonger - Following the events of UtRH, Batman places Jason in Arkham Asylum. Stream of consciousness. Red Hood meets Wide Sargasso Sea + Arkham Asylum: Living Hell. Not a happy story. Jason and Bruce do terrible stuff in this one, some other characters are complicit to varying degrees.

"Late Night Langoustining" by whaleofatime - Jason nurses an abused supermarket lobster back to health in his apartment bathroom. Chaotic good Red Hood.

"Home Intrusion" by daedalusdavinci - Dick & Jason. Dick feels overwhelmed by depression, Jason is a chaotic blend of unapologetically annoying and insufferably caring. <3

"One Rule" by Wisetypewriter - After a pimp is murdered in Crime Alley, Batman goes looking for Red Hood. Normally I don't read fic that uses Lobdell's RHatO canon, but this story actually makes interesting use of Faye Gunn as Jason's paternal grandmother. Contains references and descriptions of familial abuse.

we're in this mellow mayhem together by atlasky - A slice-of-life series in which Jason has a close relationship with Hal Jordan, Green Lantern. Told from Hal's point of view, this story will make you love Hal if you don't already. The latest installment was posted this year.

"The Bowery Branch" by ivy_and_ivory - When he’s eleven, Jason Todd becomes a regular at the Bowery Branch Public Library. This is his life, through their eyes.

"lonely town" by TheResurrectionist - After Robin is murdered, Nightwing seeks out the Joker on his own. Major character death, intense grief, death ideation, extreme peril, self-destructive behavior. Jason's minor role as a supporting character is short and sweet.

"By Any Other Name" by ManURonaldo - Jason thinks of Bruce and Batman as separate people. Mostly fluff, Red Hood is part of the Batfamily.

"the clay steals the clay" by zipadeea - Bruce & Jason. Sweet fluffy feel-good goop with the softest Batdad and a Catholic homily. Alternate reunion, takes place just before UtH.

"Fabric Softener" by ceruleon - Dick & Jason. As the title implies, this story is way soft. Feel-good fluff.

"Red X" by ilovelegendsalot - A rather painstakingly canon-compliant Teen Titans 2003 cartoon fic, in which Jason Todd steals the Red X suit from his older brother.

"I Never Give As Much As I Get" by raggedybun - Red Hood's Task Force Z ends with a bang. Harvey Dent decides to repay the favor.

"It's Tomb Time" by FleetSparrow - Very tiny fic. When Dick and Jason have to investigate an old tomb, Jason doesn't like it one bit. And makes it known. Repeatedly.

"You're Just A Baby, You Can Not Fly" by BabblingBookends - Batman visits Jason's grave to say goodbye to his partner.

Just gonna type my thoughts out based on my notes I wrote while playing the To the Moon Beach Episode. So spoilers/long ramble.

Short things:

They brought back many minor characters from Finding Paradise, thought that was very cute

References: The "Are you winning, son?" in the airport was charming but I did not expect to get a full FNAF section

I love the use of previous games OST: updated versions and the lo-fi versions

Animations were very charming and expressive; they even joke about it ("didn't have a budget for it. The dance lessons")

That inverted/hanging jellyfish planter. I need it. I need it now.

Rob learning what people are up to on the internet these days only to instantly regret it

Willis and Taima still going at it. They are lifelong couple goals: keeping the flame alive while dropping wisdom

I need that soundtrack.

Bigger things:

Johnny and River addressing what most players/general audience found concerning about the original game and overall premise of the series: Altering and overwriting of memories or basically the reality of the dying. While jokingly Johnny says he could never see himself using their services, both conclude it's their choice and they just need to accept it

This was slightly touched on in the Minisode but for it to be brought into attention by the original characters that kicked off this series, it's something.

The three books at the beginning already set forth what this game is gonna be all about: grieving and acceptance of the passing of a loved one. The first run through, Eva completely numbed her memories to enjoy the beach and time with Neil. But there was always something.

Second run, she "confronts" as Faye states the truth: Neil is dead.

It was hinted that Eva started drinking (in the store) and has been repeatedly using the machine Neil left behind that Neil becomes concerned for her. (Similar to Collin in Finding Paradise.) While she wants to stay on the beach and relive the same day over and over, it's not possible.

There was a brief mention of immortality. One being a jellyfish that reverts back to infancy as it reaches the end of their lifespan and questioning if it's still the same jellyfish or not. Then compared to humans how we regenerate new cells except the brain and heart.

Roxie finds it romantic, Eva wishes that those also gets replaced with every pass.

Neil's death was either sudden or his condition was kept secret from Eva? Eva mentioned he didn't give her enough time to prepare and Neil didn't know what to do and I think he said he made the machine just so he just doesn't disappear and to leave something behind for her.

*Edit* I completely forgot about Paper Memories. I'm guessing the phone call Eva got from Roxie was that Neil passed away (given how distressed Roxie was in that one panel). It is possible that that portion was in the machine and that Rob and Roxie were aware. That whole portion is basically like this Beach Episode.

Edit2: thinking again, the call could be him in critical condition since in the comic Neil mentions making that garden. Eva not replying to Neil on how he died makes it sound like it was traumatic. She mentioned something about a surgery when talking to Lynri and Quincy and asking how he is when he visits them but not sure if that's involved or just a throwaway line.

Neil lives on with regrets; mostly wishing Eva was his girlfriend and more. Though he isn't real in the game, he still carries the memories he had. He built her "a garden" (comic reference) but she started spending too much time. And she can't fully enjoy it because he continues to keep her at arms length.

Neil locked himself in his room, much like he did in many instances throughout the series and now canonically, all throughout the life Eva and Neil has been together. Thinking he's doing what's best for her when all she wanted is him to be "here'

He regrets those decisions but it's understandable on why he did it. In Impostor Factory, Lynri's condition was hereditary and is in Neil. Seeing Quincy's face of absolute loneliness knowing he's about to lose his wife and eventually his son, it would devastate anyone. Neil making a machine to make it so that Eva would never have to go through that, while admirable, changed nothing. If not, made things worse.

How they close the game was brutal: The world Neil created for Eva to never be alone after he has passed slowly fading away, concluding with Eva being alone, crying, as she turns the machine off.

You couldn't just leave it like this for them. Together alone on the beach.

No. It's just Eva. Alone.

The Island

A/N: this has been sitting in my documents for forever and I finally finished and editted it. Its was inspired by @reds-ramblings story.

It's been ten years since we found Hannah. Ten years since I last saw him, expect on TV or the courtroom. He kept his promise and so did I. We met in Duskwood, I saw him before anyone else from the group for a night. It was heated, emotional, and passionate. However, he decided to turn himself in so we can live a life together one day. We had no idea that from one night together, we would have a little one. I was unable to see him while he was in prision even with his daughter, because we weren't officially family.  I waited, Hannah and Lilly kept him updated on me and Faye.

Oh Faye, shes the spitting image of him, even ten years later she's loving computers. I never forgot what he told me before handing himself over to the FBI "MC, I love you but don't wait for me." I couldnt see anyone else because my heart was taken.

Ten years ago my heart shattered as he was arrested. Five years ago I decided I needed to change something and I remember him telling me about someone he knew that owned an island with a resort. The whole group decided to go and I fell in love with the place. Faye and I made it a yearly trip, until this year. I saw the man was selling it and I had the savings and could get the loan so I did the irrational thing. Jake would have been the only one to talk me out of it.

Fast forward to today, I'm standing on the boat waiting for the gang with Faye. The cool spring breeze is on my face and I smell the salt in the air. Jake would be so proud of me for these last year.

"Mom, when can I see Dad?" She asks,  so excited for that moment.

This is a conversation I know too well and it breaks my heart. "Hopefully soon he should be out."

I see the cars pull up and everyone gets out. However I see an extra person and my heart jumps out of my chest.

Hannah and him walk up to the boat together and I finally see his face clear and run off the boat, almost falling. He grabs my waist and looks into my eyes.

"Hi, MC" he says with the smile that just melted my heart 10 years ago.

"Is this real? Are you really my Jake?" I ask as tears run down my cheek.

"I am" he say wiping them away.

"I wanted to surpise you with how much you've been working on this place and taking care of Faye" says Hannah.

"Oh my god! Your daughter" i exclaim. I go to turn around to call her and he grabs my chin and kisses me deep.

All concerns of everything in that moment leaves my body. I wrap my arms around his neck not wanting to pull away.

"Hey there are kids around" says Dan as he pushes past us.

We finally break the kiss and I lean into his chest. I turn around and I see Faye, looking at us and blush.

"Sweetie, this is your dad" I say with tears in my eyes.

Jake lets go of me and reaches out for her. "Hi Faye," he says with a smile and she jumps in his arms.

I look at them then look at Hannah. "You have no idea how happy you just made both of us" I say to her, her brown eyes the total opposite of Jake's and Lillys blues.

"I have an idea. I know she's been asking about him a lot lately." She says.

Watching Jake just hold her, melts my heart. My family is finally whole after 9 years.

Everyone finally gets on the boat and as always when taking out of the dock Faye runs to the front. She leans against the rail and I watch her.

"She's just like you, carefree" I hear Jake say.

"She's also yours. She's stubborn, reserved, loves computers. I swear she took after you more then me." I say watching her.

Jake spins me around looking into my eyes. "Why didn't you move on?" He asks.

"I tried but I had found out I was pregnant with Faye right after and I knew she was yours. In that moment, I knew I had to be strong so when you did get out we could be a family." I say as I look away. "I mean if that is what you want" as I bite my lip.

He lifts my chin, "I very much do. Hannah kept me uodated on you and her everytime she came to visit or we talked on the phone. I instantly knew who she was because Hannah showed me pictures." He says brushing hair away from my face.

"I want you to know, I tried to visit and get on your call list for Faye's sake '' I say looking into his eyes.

"I know you did. My lawyer told me but because we were not engaged and they didn't want to do a DNA test on her you couldn't get even her on the list.."

"Yeah" I say wanting to kiss him again. All of sudden I feel another set of arms around me and I see Faye.

"Mommy, you look so happy today" she says hugging me then running to her seat.

I blush and go to follow her. "They got her for a moment" Jake say grabbing my hand. "I got out a couple days ago and I knew I wanted to be with you." He says and I can see he's getting nervous. "So when Hannah told me you had bought this place and fixed it up, i thought it would be a perfect surprise."

"Jake, I want to be with you also" I say grabbing his face. "Seeing you get out of the car with the group my heart I swear jumped put of my chest."

"MC, will you officially be mine?" He asks.

"I mean we hav to make sure its okay with Faye'' I laugh "but yes jake!" I say wrapping my arms around him.

He kisses me deeply and passionately again. Once we pull away to catch our breath, I look up at him. 

"Yeah Faye is staying in the room with the other kids" I say with a smile.

"I do want some father daughter time if she wants it" he says, looking into my eyes.

"Oh she definitely will. She's been asking nonstop questions about you and a lot of them I cant answer. What she wants most is to spend time with you."

The boat docks and everyone runs off towards the resort. I smile watching Faye with her cousins. Jake is up there playing with the kids as I finally get off the dock. 

"MC, your girl is right, you are happier" says Dan as he comes walking back to me.

"For nine years I waited for this and I never imagined she would take to him like this" I say with a tear in my eye.

He pulls me close "she wants to know him and see her mom happy" he says.

"I just hope we can make it work. We never had a chance and now if it doesn't her heart will break too." I say hugging him.

"Hey don't think like that. I'll tell you something I probably shouldn't but your a sister to me." He says with a sigh.

"Well spit it out Dan" I say with a laugh.

"The last few days when he was around Hannah, Lilly, and the kids he just kept asking about you and her. Wanting to know everything possible from everyone." 

"Wait so everyone knew he was coming?" I say as I start walking to them.

"Yeah but with all on your plate we agreed to make it a surpise. Seeing your face light up from the boat and run towards him was worth it, MC" he says following me.

Faye comes running up with Jakes hand in hers "mom!" She calls and he follows her. "Can we go out on the water in those boats?" She asks.

"Sure, find one of your cousins to go with you." I say meeting them half way.

"But mom, I wanted to go with Dad" she whines.

I look at Jake in shock, then look back at her. I crouch down to her and try to be gentle with my words. "I want everyone to test them out including the smaller ones for you kid" I say trying to reason with her.

She pouts and runs off to find one of the kids to join her and I stand up.

"Did that really just happened?" Ask Dan

I look at Jake and he's just as surpised as me. "Yeah she called him Dad already '' I say looking at Dan.

He walks past Jake and taps his shoulder "good luck man. She's a real wild one just like her mom" he laughs as he walks past us with his bag.

"Sorry I wasn't expecting that" I say blushing.

"Neither was I. Dan's right you know, shes wild like you" he says wrapping his arms around me.

We walk hand and hand inside where everyone is and i give them all their keys. Jessy and Cleo agreed to stay in the room with the kids, even adding Faye to the bunch. I take Jake up to my room and grab the extra key I have and hand it to him. "If we are really going to try and make this work…" I say lost in thought as Faye comes running in.

"Mom! I thought I was staying in here with you!" She whines.

I turn away from Jake and as Im about to say something Jake steps in. "Your Mom and I talked, we think you could use some time with your cousins on this trip" he says in a smoothing voice.

I look at him and realize how much he's already stepping in as a parent and it melts my heart to the point I want to lock the doors and stay in bed with him this whole trip.

She whines and stomps away grabbing her bag. I hear her say something under her breath.

"Don't even go there missy" as I raise my voice to her.

She turns around "he just came into my life and your taking him away from me" she yells.

I walk up to her and sit on the bed in front of her. I take a sigh as I try to find the right words. "Faye, you need to understand your father and I need to figure some things out before we jump in as a family. I promise you will have tons of time with him apart of your life. He can teach you all that computer stuff you've been struggling with and take you out for icecream and have fun." I say looking into her eyes.

She come closer to me, "will you be there too?"

I look at Jake then back into her blue eyes, "yes" i say not wanting to break her heart more right now. "Go get ready though to go out on the water." 

She gets the biggest smile on her face and runs to the bathroom. I look at Jake and sigh hoping I just made the right call.

He comes picks me up, wrapping his arms around me. "You're doing amazing raising her. Just know I am here now and don't plan to leave anytime soon" he whispers into my ear.

"I know you don't but what if…" he stops me mid sentence with a gentle kiss. 

"No what ifs right now, MC. We will figure this all out together." He says

Its later in the day, we had a fun day st the water and around the island just all of us. We finally get all the kids into bed and we all head outside to the firepit that Dan and Thomas started for us. 

Jake pulls me close in the seat were both in and he feels me cold. He takes off his hoodie and gives it to me. 

"Its okay the fire will warm me up" I say looking at him.

"MC dont be stubborn just take it" he whispers into my ear with a growl. 

My body shivers knowing what he wants after ten years and I put it on. It smells just like him and I curl up against him.

Jessy is the first to notice how close we are right now. "Okay we need to talk about the elephant in the room. What is going on with you two?" She asks.

"Yeah I think we have the right to know if you're not going to tell Faye" says Lilly.

I look at Jake for some form of help but he's just watching me. "We're seeing what happens." I look af them as I say it. "You all know how much we were in love ten years ago .  Obviously things happened that one night. '' I laugh.

"We know how you two felt back then" says Dan.

"Yeah but what about now?" Asks Hannah.

"It's pretty obvious" says Cleo. "They are still in love."

"We are seeing where things lead. There is another heart we have to both make sure doesn't break" states Jake.

After a couple hours around the fire everyone starts to dwindle inside and while the fire is out Jake and I just sit there. I finally decidd to get up but he grabs my hand and pulls me back down.

"There's something I want to show you" i say looking into his eyes.

"Wanted to make sure you weren't leaving" he says.

"Definitely not there is a gorgeous spot that looks out over the water. It's not far fron here" i say standing up but taking his hand.

It's nearly midnight but with being with Jake I'm wide awake and we walk up to the spot. In the moonlight its even more breathtaking 

All you see is the darkness of the water and the moonlight over the cliff and hear the water crashing below. He pulls me close and between the smell of him, the smoke, and the salt water my mind is totally lost as he wraps his arms around my waist with my back to him.

"MC, are you really worried things wont work?" He asks.

"I am because its not just are hearts at stake. I have for the past ten years had someone else to watch out for. It's only day on and she loves you" i say taking a deep breath.

"I always want to be there for both of you" he says.

"I know you do Jake. However we both know that last time we were together it was passionate and strong. We didnt think about the future in that night and let things happen." I say turning towards him.

I see the love in his eyes as the moonlight hits him. I feel the warmth of him even through his hoodie I'm wearing. I lose all control over my emotions of trying to keep my heart safe for Fayes sake and kiss him like when I saw him on the dock. This time noone is around to stop us and i feel his hands move to my neck and my ass pulling me even closer as we can't stop what is going to happen.

Jakes POV

I wake up to the sun coming up over the water and I see her. She's still sleeping on my chest my hoodie is over both of us as a blanket and our clothes are on the ground. I want nothing more then to keep this feeling locked away forever but I know i need to wake her up. I kiss the top of her head and she stirs awake. 

"Good morning beautiful" I say with a smile.

"Good morning handsome" she says looking up at me with a smile. "Oh shit we should get back.” As she sits up and realizes we're both naked.

I pull her back to me, this time kissing her gently. Ahe pulls away again but all concern is gone. She reaches for our clothes and we get dressed. She throws on my hoodie which looks good on her and I take her hand.

"I guess we really are giving this a true chance" she says looking towards the water.

I grab her chin and direct her to look at me. "My love, did we even have any other choices.

She shivers as she looks into my eyes, "not really. Your my home" she says as she leans info me.

MC pov:

We walk back to the resort and thankfully as we walk in the front door it doesn't sound like anyone is away. We walk up to the room and see Faye sleeping in the bed.

"I knew she wouldn't make it the night," I says softly with a smile. I walk away from Jake and lift her up. I goes to carry her out of the room but he takes her. 

"How about we do pancakes for everyone?" He ask.

"Pancakes?" A sleepy Faye states while Jake holds her.

"Give me a few moments, okay?" I ask, smiling at Jake holding her.

He kisses my cheek and lays Faye down. I grab change if clothes and head into the bathroom. At this moment I'm so thankful I have my phone. I pull up the messages and see Jessy is online.

MC: oh my we need girl talk!

Jessy: did you even sleep?

Mc: i mean if you count a few hours outside 😜

Jessy: coffee with girl talk?

MC: we're gonna make pancakes. Oh by the way good job keeping Faye in the room last night. 🤣

Jessy: she wouldn't have it and I didnt want her to wake up the others.

Mc: its okay we actually found her this morning in the bed. But going to clean up and head down to the kitchen with Jake and Faye.

There's a knock on the bathroom door "mom, dad and I are heading to the kitchen to start pancakes" Faye says.

"Okay I'll be right down" i say. I smile at her love already for him. 

MC: Jessy! Come here so we can talk

Jessy: okay I'll be right over.

I hear them leave and a few minutes later there is a knock on the door. I open and its Jessy wearing her PJ. I grab her hand and pull her in.

"Girl, what am I going to do?" I say so worried.

"Look, he wants to be part of her life no matter what so just let this run its course."

"No you don't understand. We did it last night out on that cliff I told you about. All it took was once and we got Faye. I don't know if i could handle it if it doesn't work and us having two kids" I say breaking down.

Jessy grabs my shoulders "don't think of it like that. You're an amazing mom and he's showing he wants to be around." She says.

"Jessy, wait if all we have is passionate love explodes and then its nothing. We've never had the chance to see if we can keep these feelings" i say looking at her with tears in my eyes.

She pulls me in for a hug "just take it a day at a time sweetie. Also would it really be bad if you guys had another one?" She laughs. "That man is madly in love with you."

I realize she is telling me the truth. Jake and I need to take this a day at a time together and learn each other and build a family with Faye.
