If you live in a place that gets snow, always kick the snow off of your shoes or boots as best as you can before entering any homes, businesses, vehicles, or anywhere the snow could make a mess.
With entering homes and business you can just kick the toe of your shoes or boots on the ground until you get off as much snow from your shoes or boots as you possibly can.
With vehicles it can be a little more tricky because there's often snow on the ground around the vehicle, but quite a few people don't like having their car kicked. So what you can do when entering vehicles is sit first, while keeping your feet outside the vehicle, then kick your feet together until you've gotten all or most of the snow off.
When snow melts it makes an awful and miserable mess. Anyone who's worked in a store or restaurant over the winter in a snowy place will tell you how miserable it is to have to constantly mop up all the dirty slushy water all day.
And most people aren't going to want their home or car to have a dirty slushy mess all over the floor either. The snow stuck to our shoes and boots often has other debris in it, like dirt or salt.
Give people the courtesy of minimizing how much they'll have to mop up the floor over the winter by minimizing how much snow / slush / dirt / salt you're dragging into their home / workplace / vehicle.

I’m going to a share something that had been working for me recently, and it might help some of you?
You know when you have that one super annoying BIG TASK that you really really don’t want to do? (For me, writing papers. I hate writing papers.)
Here’s what you can try:
Find a bunch of smaller things to do first. If you are procrastinating a BIG TASK, find a bunch of smaller/less important tasks to complete. This can work because
It means at least you aren’t wasting the time
It gives you something to do so you are less frantic
It gives you a bunch of dopamine hits
It clears your mental space
Now, with all of those smaller projects out of the way…you basically did a fabulous warm-up routine. You’re in your “busy” headspace, you feel good because you’ve already completed tasks, and since you’ve completed those tasks you have freed up space to focus on the BIG TASK.
It's not perfect, and sometimes you never actually make it to your BIG TASK, but at least you don't have to deal with the soul-crushing guilt of doing nothing, which is what keeps me up at night and gives me existential crises.
Also, if someone asks, you can say "I couldn't complete [BIG TASK] because I was [completing other tasks]." Which circumvents the "I Don't Know Why I Didn't Do The Thing I Just Did Not Do The Thing" conversation that inevitably leaves you feeling gross.
They may say, "You should have completed [BIG TASK]!" and lecture you about priorities, but that's normal, and you can deal with that. Or you can smite them. Whatever works for you.

(Image ID: tags that say "also what's going on with that table? i love it") (tags from @xeneric-shrooms)
I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED!
ignoring my kickstarter for a minute to show off my table because I love it
So this is the table (normal style) it's got a lot of storage space in the bottom, it's also on wheels which makes it way easier to move around
We keep our games and blankets in there! so that's nice. but then...
IT OPENS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it opens into traystands, and you could still put stuff into the hole there if you wanted!!!
so it's really space efficient but also looks so nice and I really love it.
It also normally was $600 but because this was the floor model (which is why it's scuffed up) it was $150 :) still a lot, but I've never loved a coffee table this much so it was super worth it. it's really nice to be able to pull the bit of the table up closer to me so I can reach things easier.

My Good Thing for the day is less outright Good and more Amusing. You see, someone brought flees into the house, so everyone got baths and thorough grooming! The good news: everyone is so much more clean and less itchy, and with continued passes of the flea comb and treatment of carpets and such, we’ll kick this little infestation in the tail!
The bad news: I now have three cat who are contemplating homicide.
If y’all don’t hear from me after this, you’ll know what happened.

Question for the folks who practice no shoes in the house and also have indoor-outdoor pets like dogs: do you clean the pet's paws (and trailing fur if relevant) each time they enter, or are they tracking dirt and stuff in while you're walking around inside without shoes on?
wait i can make a poll
If you don't have a pet/ your pet isn't indoor-outdoor, feel free to vote for what you'd do or would prefer if this scenario was relevant
Remember that this is asking about regular, consistent cleaning. Cleaning the pet's paws when it's wet or muddy outside but not when it's dry outside doesn't count as a yes here.
