PERSONALITY

-His personality during work is something similar to "I don't give a fuck about it", but also is kinda similar to Alicia (post-Angola). He's quiet, calm, serious and he takes no shit, but looks older that he really is, because of genetics. And speaking of, Alicia and Nicholas knows that even if he looks bitter, in reality is a little shit when he is confident and is really sweet with his family.

-During the conjoined missions he goes back to the attitude he used during old missions, cold and suspicious about the other team. Normally he stays inside the plane unless he's needed in a reunion, never really speaking during the mission.

-With the team he speaks and make some comments, not much more. But after some weeks, he started to tell silly or cheesy jokes...most of them, he heard them years ago.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in New Orleans, Lousiana, he has a twin brother. His father was never there and Marcel and him were raised by only their mother, always with difficulties to make ends meet. And during high school, as he distanced from Marcel, he found out about how good the USAAF paid, thinking that maybe he could help his mother.

He enlisted after finishing high school, feeling some kind of disgust mixed with shame and guilt once he learnt about the path his twin took. Edward cut ties with him during all his basic training and the first part of his career, until he went back home during a leave and found his mother crying. When he asked, she told him that during a fight the members of a rival gang beat up Marcel, and that he was in UCI.

Hearing that made his heart sink and he ran to the hospital, saying sorry over and over again when he saw his twin full of bandages and conected to so many monitors. After that he was filled with shame and regrets, but stayed in contact with the both of them to know how was Marcel doing during rehab. When he came back once again, he found him healed, but with a permanent limp due to a bad injury on his leg.

That same month he heard about the plans of his brother to create a fundation to help every kind of people, and he was happy to help him with anything he could. And when he learned that the name would be "Flying Love" because of him and their mother, he cried like never before even if that meant being mocked by Marcel. And so, soon "Flying Love" started to exist. (I wrote the part that involves Marcel while hearing Let's Hurt Tonight...it was a good and a bad idea, mostly because I'm trying not to cry with the movie I made inside my head because of the rythm.)

Years later he met Alicia during a mission in the Middle East and somehow became friends with her, helped by the fact he was assigned to help the 267 in various missions after that first one. In 2016 he was assigned with the 101st to participate in the called Operation Firewall, deployed to Chad. Sadly both had lost contact a year before or so, and only knew about her once she went to ask him to join the Specters.

It was shock to see how she was after three years, but obliged to go with her. And since he saw that his friend wasn't the same as before, Edward decided that at least...he could make her smile as she did for him.

SKILLS

-Incredible skill to shoot at high speeds.

-Quick to made some calculus at mid-flight and has an almost inhuman time of reaction.

-He prefers when he has to combat in the air.

COMBAT

His combat is mainly basic, the combat he was teached, and his first choice weapon is a Bowie knife. He is learning MCMAP with Marcus just to have a trick in case the worst happens, and will ask Luke for the same reason.

TRIVIA

-No one on his old team really knows this, but after they first met, Alicia and him concided during a leave. They started to talk (usually she took most of the weight of the conversation) and became friends, being even closer when they were assigned in different missions. Nowdays, Edward regret that he didn't appreciate those moments, mostly after seeing how much she changed.

-He befriended Jackson, with who he does some weird shit, and also Luke, the one he calls "sane" even though that's a lie. The three of them usually go for drinks to talk and more, sometimes even staying up until late talking. As well he's similar to a big brother for Nicholas, and bring him to New Orleans when he goes back. Now Nicholas have a place in his house every time he goes there.

-Something he treasures, is the fact that Alicia always found him inside the plane to drink coffee. They stayed there in silence for hours extending the coffee, and sometimes they call each other by the nicknames they had. "Ally" and "Eddie", it's a long story of why they call eachother like that.

-When he's home, he helps his mother inside the house and he volunteers to help rehabilitate addicts, and reincorporate ex-gang members. Usually he give some classes, technical and theorical, about his fields of expertise.

-Due to his brother past with the gangs, he doesn't feel comfortable having tattoos, but he likes to see some online just to admire the desings.

-His callsign came because of a training with some TOPGUN guys. That time they did an internal bet, who had the quickest reaction time during the excercise. Once in the air, he was flying like there was nothing else around except the instructor plane. Even though he failed the objective, he had the best time and he was able to shoot in the middle of a maneuver. He had eager fingers, aparently.

-During a mission with the team, he was required to use a fighter plane for assisting during the mission. No need to say, but most of the team were surprised to see him in his main environment. On the other hand Nicholas and Francis cheered via radio while the infantry took cover. "That's the Eager I missed", was the only thing Alicia said with a smile.

-Those two always joke about how Edward looks and acts like he's fourty, but he isn't even in his thirties. All tired and bitter and done with people, just like an old man. At that moments they swear both can see a glimpse from the past, from better times.

-His favorite drink are milkshakes, vanilla ones to be specific. And his favorite food...he doesn't have one, but not because he doesn't like anything, on the contrary, he loves to eat, he eats everything. Everytime Alexander makes some biscuits, he always gives Edward a big portion of them.

it's december~

i did a lot of black friday shopping: nordstrom's (with my aunts 40% off), breville, manduka, smith tea, and lululemon. i had a "fuck it, we were overall quite financially responsible this past year" given also receiving a promotion (and saving a lot by not upgrading apartments), so i wanted to be a tad irresponsible and treat myself. it's the most responsible time to be financially irresponsible, at least!

from my last post, i still have some funkiness and sadness going on, but the crying has stopped after that period. i read sara payne's book "i did all of that for this?!", which is a book written by a medical spouse. i think i first read it towards the end of residency but didn't really relate to it too much. however, now rereading it at this point in our lives and the medical journey, i related SO much to basically everything she said, to the point where i had the some of the same thoughts verbatim. i also listened to a few of her podcast episodes called rock solid relationships, which were helpful. additionally, i did some CBT workbook practices - these were all to identify and examine all the thoughts i was having that were impacting my feelings.

i'm letting myself "grieve". recently on the medspouse subreddit, a few people have posted about how disappointed and upset they were at where their partners had matched for fellowship. a number of people have indicated crying and grieving the news. hearing this, i also felt less alone and normal to have these kinds of feelings and wounds.

some news about the job search: matt's interview and chalk talk with USC went pretty well (it seems). the interviewers were impressed by his current title from a fancy hospital. compared to the previous job interviews, he is genuinely interested in this one and doesn't think it's a step down from his current position as the others may have been. this would be a "normal" 8-5 M-F job. additionally, he has interviews with UCI and city of hope coming up. we're also in contact with UCLA. i will follow up with UCSD. cold emailing really works to get interviews. i'm keeping my expectations low but have my fingers crossed for good outcomes. i really hope he can get something with a start date of 7/1/24.

strangely, and perhaps i have some depressed girl vibes going on which is creating this - but this past month has been the most i've ever been complimented by strangers, like ever. on my plane ride to SF, an older white man poked me as he walked down the aisle (i was seated) and said "you're too cute". then, in brooklyn as i was walking to the japanese market, some younger white (?) guy started walking next to me and said "wanted to say what's up, you look kinda good". lastly, yesterday, matt and i went to visit R&T at their upper east side home. we arrived earlier than them so i was waiting at the steps while matt walked around. a black guy that walked by said "you're beautiful, have a lovely day".

i'm telling myself this is god's/the universe's plan for me. that the previous jobs and redlands didn't work out for a reason. that R&T coincidentally moved here to NYC in september so that my remaining time in NYC would be better (and it has been substantially because of them). that random strangers are complimenting me to lift me up.

thanks to R&T, thanksgiving wasn't so lonely this year. last year, i basically spent my thanksgiving weekend alone because matt was working. this year, they joined us on thanksgiving day which was also matt's bday and made it a festive day. that weekend, i spent the day with them at industry city, dropped off coffee for matt, shopped at primark and had dinner at our apartment. they invited us on a trip to CT this past weekend to see their cousin perform at a community theater. it was so nice to just tag along with someone else's plan. we just showed up and went along for the ride.

R&T are very casual and very lenient on time. matt and i's new normal is to rush and be on a time crunch so traveling with them really helped us slow down and chill. it was nice to experience how another couple travels and to finally not be in charge. thanks T for driving! we watched elf the musical (which was quite funny and entertaining), stayed at a hotel that night while they stayed at their cousin's place, visited their family the next day, met up with their resident friend at yale and got a short "tour", and got malaysian food for dinner! they are a bit younger than us, so it also feels like they have more energy. R takes a lot of nice pictures and brings a warm happy energy to the group.

the worst ever by wheelspokes (M) 13.1k /SakuAtsu/ GAH IT WAS SO GOOD. I loved Omi and Waka-chan, and the progression of their relationship was ajkfd. We stan good, healthy communication! Also the pancake recipe (smooth Waka-chan smoooooth). But the way Atsumu adapts overtime and how he grew on Omi (kinda like mold LOL), jalfjkadfl IM IN LOVE.

Lost in Translation by rageprufrock (T) 9.6k /IwaOi/ This was SO GOOD!!!! I love UCI iwa and the tweets are so FUNNYAJFJSJ! Everything about this was done super well, and it was such a fun read :D I loved the characterization throughout and usually I don’t really like OCs, but they really added to the story (and it was easy to keep track of who was who). Also the ending was GOLD AHAHHA.

Untitled Coronita Heights Sequel Snippet #4

I FINALLY finished chapter 6 today on my lunch break so please enjoy a short snippet from an early chapter of CH2. Remember - when I finish chapter 10, we'll start posting. Lastly, love to all my UCI people! I'm a UCR girl myself.

After a short while, they arrived at the exit for UCI’s athletics complex, and Maura parked in the designated area for teams. “Where do I sit?” Maura asked.

“What? In the car,” Jane huffed. “Or take a walk around campus.”

“I’m here to watch you!” retorted Maura. “I dressed up and everything!” She motioned down to herself, in a matching UC Irvine tee, with dark washed jeans and a visor to complete the look. Her ponytail swished with her distress.

“It’s just a shirts and skins game, Maura!” Jane shot back. “Obviously I’ll be shirts.”

“I hope not,” Maura said as she got out of the car.

Jane gaped like a fish and then scrambled out of her seat. She ambled over to where Maura had popped the trunk. “What do you mean you hope not?”

“I’m here to watch you, and selfishly, I admit that I hope you’re on ‘skins’,” Maura replied. “I also hope the reason is obvious.”

Jane blushed and yanked her bag out of the trunk before slamming it shut. “You know what? Fine. Sit in the bleachers with the scouts. You’re gonna be disappointed.” Then, she marched off toward the entrance of the park.

Maura followed closely behind. “I”m going to be taking video!” she shouted, and then Jane broke into a run. She only laughed in response.

After a twenty minute warmup, Coach B chose teams, and much to Maura’s delight, and Jane’s chagrin, Jane was put on the skins team. “No special treatment, Rizzoli,” Coach B had grumbled at her when she protested, “all the new kids start on skins.”

“Well none of the other new kids have tits, coach!” Jane had barked, then when that didn’t work, she growled something about hazing, and the players simply laughed at her while half of them removed their shirts.

“Don’t you have yours covered under there?” Coach B prodded her. “Look, Rizzoli, you really don’t want to, suit yourself. But you’re playin’ on skins, shirt on or not.”

Conceding to herself that her discomfort was less about having to take off her own clothes than about having to pile into a dugout with ten sweaty, only maybe-bathed young men. Having to smell them, having to bump damp shoulders with them, dealing with their overall college-kid attitude toward hygiene. She shrugged out of her t-shirt and tossed it bitterly to Maura in the stands.

Maura, who had set up a tripod and the edgertronic camera she had purchased with her own funds earlier in the summer, caught it with glee, winking at Jane simply to rile her further. There had been a deal struck during the week, Maura’s sweet talk on the phone with Coach B more convincing than her science talk. Still, she got him to agree to that science in the stands when Jane played.

Jane, now in just a black pro-fit sports bra and mid-thigh black running shorts, just didn’t think the video would come so soon - she thought that she could dust off the cobwebs and get a few games in first before the edgertronic came out. Then, she stomped away and ran into the dugout for her bat bag. Shirts were the more senior guys, and always got home field advantage, so her team would be batting first.

Let’s Talk about the Book Again, Shall We? I was inspired by the excerpt of sequel!

This post is about the character, who I don’t think is M, though in later books, who know (she seems to perhaps have a turn in A T/ale of W/itchraft?), but I think she less desirable traits are absolutely modeled after M.  Some of my fav quotes under read more.  C I love you, I laughed at loud at some of these lines.

Lucy Goosey or as she pronounces it, “Goo-say” which we would know if we had any “class.”  Just reminds me so much of D pronouncing PBB’s last name which is not how it looks:)

C’s introduction of Lucy Goo-say:

“The girl wore a black bowler hat, an oversize black jumpsuit, big black boots, and a bottlecap necklace.  She carried a small suitcase made from a taxidermy porcupine, and a canteen made from a beaver skull was draped over her shoulder.

On describing her perception of her talents:

“We are not just a family, we’re the Goose Troupe! You can’t have a band without its star tambourine player.”

The Troll replies:

I..... can't believe Abby just posted 'meta' relating Lucy Goosey from ATOM to her evil version of Mia. Lucy is the kid version of Mother Goose, someone Chris has named MULTIPLE TIMES as his favorite character. This is a gold mine of tinhat tropes- contradicting themselves while showing they know nothing about the source material they are trying to analyze. It makes me feel bad for Chris, that his books are warped like that by people that pretend to be his fans.

I just sent Metaloma a DM about this very thing. Not only does she have no concept of the source material, but she also doesn’t get the pun that starts the entire piece “Lucy Goose pronounced “Goosey”’. Instead, she claims it reminds her of Darren pronouncing Mia’s last name “Which is not how it looks”.  Um, dunce head, EVERYONE who pronounces Mia’s last name correctly pronounces it “not how it looks”.  That is some low key racism there Abby since the names that are pronounced “not how they look” are names that come from other languages. The rest of the meta is as you said, a gold mine of cc tropes as well as Abby’s twisted school-girl fantasy of Mia’s personality and behavior- none of them real. 

I was reading about Ezmia earlier today as I wondered what fairytale the name originally came from. I couldn’t find anything but I did read a synopsis of Chris’s character. Five-year-old Ezmia was abandoned and alone in the forest after her entire village was slaughtered. The Fairy Godmother found her and raised her and “She became a fairy in the Land of Stories, a kind, honest, loving young woman who loved to help others”. The other fairies were jealous, evil magic dust was thrown and Ezmia’s became isolated and lonely.  You can read more (X). Abby must not remember that part of the story because Ezmia’s story is sad and deserves some empathy. Basically, her story is ccDarren’s story.  

I was also struck how the description of Ezmia’s adult personality is literally the exact description that Abby uses to describe Mia:

Appearance and Personality "Once upon a time, there was an enchantress," the Evil Queen began. "She was unlike all the fairies and witches that had ever lived before her; she lived without consequence and lived on desire and desire alone. Which Schools Are Accepting the GRE Now?

For years, law schools were wedded to the LSAT. Like any marriage, it had its ups and downs, but it was a bedrock relationship. The LSAT, after all, was the test developed for law schools. The LSAT pledged to help law school assess the lawyerly mettle of applicants; law schools promised to use the LSAT as its primary means of applicant appraisal. Through these vows, a mutually beneficial partnership was forged.

But, as stories as old as time have told us, the heart wants what it wants. As the LSAT and law schools hit a rough patch of dwindling applicant pools, some law schools began seeking romance outside the homestead. Law schools began gazing towards the LSAT’s neighbor, the GRE. They saw in the GRE the saw a slightly more free and easy alternative to their spouse. They imagined a road not taken, a life not lived. Some, in fact, imagined taking that road now. The University of Arizona, in particular, couldn’t contain itself — its fiery passion for the GRE perhaps stoked by the sweltering heat of Tuscon, Arizona. It became the first school to step out on the LSAT. A messy fight ensued, but when Harvard Law — a respected pillar of the law school community! — declared it too would tryst with the GRE, the LSAT realized it might be permanently sharing its partner’s affections with the GRE.

Since then, many law schools have been either making flirty eyes towards the GRE, if not outright proposing an extra-marital affair. This year, both UCI and Bama Law made their dalliances with the GRE public. And earlier this summer, Yale — whose relationship with the LSAT has in part taken it all the way to the top spot of the U.S. News & World Report rankings — tweeted that it too will become a polyamorous law school. For those keeping track of these affaires de cœur at home, here’s a full list of all the schools accepting the GRE or another non-LSAT test, in the order of their U.S. News rankings:

(The University of Chicago (#4) and University of Georgia (#27) will waive the LSAT requirement if you’re getting a dual degree program; Berkeley Law (#10) will let applicants in concurrent or combined degree programs and specialized practice fields like patent or energy law use a GRE score).

So there are quite a few schools that are accepting the GRE in lieu of the LSAT now — it’s like its the swinging 70s in law school, to further that already strained metaphor. Expect this number to grow, too. Making a public announcement that your law school will accept the GRE is a no-brainer for law schools. They’ll get their schools’ name in the news, make statements that espouse unassailable ideals like diversity and accessibility and inclusion and innovation, and maybe slightly increase the quality of their applicant pools. If I were a law school dean, and my school could afford the testing process required by the ABA’s Standard 503, I’d make this announcement in a heartbeat. Even though I love the LSAT — enough to start this blog post with some weird fanfic equating the LSAT to a spurned spouse.

But we’re not here to strategize as hypothetical law school deans. We’re here to talk about what this means for you as a future law school applicant. What does it mean now that a bunch of law schools are letting applicants in with a GRE score? Is that dramatically going to change the applicant field? Should you get in on some of the GRE action?

If you’ve already taken the LSAT and are going to use that score to apply to law schools, and you’re worried that an influx of GRE-takers might make the field way more competitive, fret not. Admissions consultant Mike Spivey recently spoke to a bunch of deans of schools that are accepting the GRE, and the general take-away is that there aren’t that many applicants applying to law school with the GRE. A “fairly small volume[],” according to Wake Forest’s dean. At Harvard — that bellwether of GRE acceptance — only 18 out of 566 students in its entering class in 2018 had a reportable GRE score. And that number likely includes some who had both an LSAT and a GRE score. And Harvard has the most students admitted with the GRE. USC, George Mason, Washington at St. Louis, and Cardozo each admitted just one student with a GRE score. So any effect GRE may be having on the admissions field is really small, at least for now.

But what if you’re studying for the LSAT, but want to keep your options open? Maybe try out the GRE instead of, or in addition to, the LSAT? Is that a good idea? It’s a great question; as is true for all great questions, the answer is “it depends.” Studying for the GRE isn’t uniformly easier or harder than studying for the LSAT. It tests skills that are different from, but somewhat adjacent to, the skills the LSAT tests. Plus, it has math. Maybe the GRE skills are slightly more in your wheelhouse, maybe your skills are better suited for the LSAT. If you haven’t started studying either, it may make sense to try out both exams, and see which one is your cup of tea. For what it’s worth, a former Blueprint instructor and supreme standardized test-knower thinks the GRE is an exceedingly stupid test.

If you’re open to taking the GRE though, you shouldn’t assume that you can prove your fealty to the legal profession by taking both the GRE and the LSAT, or that you can rescue a so-so LSAT score with a high GRE score. We’re still in the admissions-offices-are-getting-the-hang-of-how-to-deal-with-the-GRE-phase of things, but in that Spivey article, one of the few points of agreement amongst deans was that admissions officials will not draw inferences — positive or negative — about your choice of test. They won’t think you’re less committed for taking the GRE instead of the LSAT, and they won’t think you’re more committed if you take both.

You should also be aware of the fact that if you take the LSAT, the admissions offices will see any and all LSAT scores you received in the last five years. Even if you’ve taken the GRE and would prefer the law schools to just judge you based on that. In fact, some law schools, like Wake Forest and Chicago-Kent won’t allow you to apply with the GRE if you have a reportable LSAT score. If you are able to apply with both, some schools, like UCLA, BYU, and USC, claim that they’ll evaluate you based on both scores. At other schools, it seems like the LSAT score will weigh more heavily in their decision. Some schools, like Harvard, claim they’ll even consider your GRE Quantitative (read: math) score. And what if you try out the GRE, and get a substandard score? Can you just hide that from law schools? As in, not report it to schools you apply to? Well, multiple deans in that Spivey article claim that hiding reportable GRE scores may raise red flags regarding your character and moral fitness.

Since you can’t just take both tests and apply with the better score, there really aren’t any advantages to taking both tests. So we recommend just choosing one, and dedicating all your effort into it. We’d recommend the LSAT, since it is still the only exam accepted by all 203 ABA-accredited law schools. But this is your path, and thus your decisions to make. Try both out, pick one, and then fully commit to it. Because unlike law schools and the LSAT, your commitment should be unwavering.

♪★now I've been homeless 13 times

♪★I rose a 9 year old kid (now 14 years old) named Anthony Castillo-Martinez, he was In an abusive foster home (the same one I was in), so me and my motel roommate and ex girlfriend of One Year. Kimberly Marie-Olivarez took him in

♪★I was mentally unstable and unfit so CPS took him away, (under Kimberly's false accusations that I "gave him drugs")

♪★im known for police, fire department, AMR, sherriffs etc.

♪★Jeremy Baraz & Ismhael Baraz, got shot && I saw the entire thing , and I almost got killed as well

♪★I was Prostituting/got sold, got drugged up and abused for money for us (To raise Anthony, and have a hotel for me Kim and him to live) and she killed herself (right in front of me and I tried to st0p her, but I was to late

♪★ I've been raped by my drug dealers which also drugged me up.people on the streets, Kimberly && many more)

♪★I was in Foster Care a couple times, ×°the 2nd time i was in abusive/Drug addicts, Angela and Jimmy Miller (they tortured, force fed, raped, abused, but me, drugged me up, had multiple people (over 40 a day) come in an rape me one by one

x° and with Lisa (who was like a grandma to me but she passed away later on so I moved , later finding out that she attempted suicide)

crisis centers (Crisis Stabelization Unit a 24 hour crisis center [CSU] over 80 times)

♪★2 week mental health and drug/alcohol programs (STAY Program (2x), Jumpstreet, Excelsior House, Rancho West, and Telecare Lagos...2x each)

♪★group homes (Rancho Domocitas), ♪★Boarding Cares (Golden Girls, a SSI paid house of all girls)

♪★rehabs (Cedar House 2x, CHYC, and multiple others)

♪★the streets (13 times homeless/on the streets, LA, OC, Menifee, Riverside, Murrietta, Mission Viejo, Corona, irvine and San Bernardino)
