ohhhhhh my goodness this isn't really an ask and sorry for the rambling nature of it but I want you know I am going feral to have found somebody who is into both monster hunter (the GAMES of my ENTIRE CHILDHOOD AND LIFE) and also FF7 which I got heavily into as of like. last week. but will be in my brain forever now I can feel I am in this one for the long haul. anyways please know your art is cool as hell, I love the really strong silhouettes and block colours it's super striking, and some of your comics have given me deep emotional pain for the poor folks of FF7 (in the best way possible)

also: MHWxFF7 crossover where the final bossfight is not one but TWO funky alien energy river cocoon boys trying to utterly trash a continent for power. I love you xeno'jiva and sephiroth never change

Hello, this is the anon with the loaded question on how to start my comic. I figured it would take a while to answer that one, but let me tell you I am so, so thankful that you did. I took up some of your time with that one for sure and just know, that I appreciate it deeply that you gifted it to me. Thank you so so much. My mind is still processing what you gave me and I will reread this probably a couple of times but it is very helpful! Like.. I cannot express how much. And I am aware of that tip with "start a small story" but .. that just is not for me (mostly because when I write anything and even when I try to hold myself to "small" the characters will explode to life and the stories grow on their own, I just add some water, the garden will grow wild either way and while I love that, it certainly does not lend itself well for staying "small" (lord knows I tried)) that's why I came to you too, because you have this behemoth on your hands and I figured, man, if anyone can tell me how to get over that what I consider my biggest hurdle for now, it would hopefully be you. And you did. You very much did. The beginning has been sitting in my head vividly like a movie intro for mh.. a year now. I just could not.. start. But the tip with just.. messing about with the first page and drop it for a bit and just go on from there. Brilliant. I will do just that. Like I said, i will reread your answer a couple of times and also thank you for the link, I will check out the tag for a bit too. Again, i cannot thank you enough for the time and consideration, it is very appreciated.

I'm glad you got something out of my reply! I'm pretty bad at explaining anything in-depth so it's always a gamble if I'm making any sense. After my longwinged reply about first drafts I came across this post which sums up perfectly what I was trying to say:

Monster Hunter concepts Pt. 8: the Fated Four

I think it would be cool to talk about more popular monsters, so today I will talk about these four peak design monsters that were introduced in Monster Hunter Generations: The Fated Four. While each one has a different theme, they are inherently part of the same core concept and thus must be explained collectively. I will try to keep it brief, but each monster is conceptually very rich so it will be difficult!

So what exactly are the Fated Four? Well as you may know, MHGen is the portable game of the Fourth generation, which started with MH4. MHGen was conceived as a celebration of the saga and its core theme is the number four: four villages, four hunting styles, and of course, four flagships: the scorching blade Glavenus, the lightning rebel Astalos, the immovable mountain god Gammoth, and the bewitching dance Mizutsune. Being defined as a group, each one of these monsters is intended to embody both a generation and a stereotypical archetype in a "hero team" (think of the Power Rangers, sorta).

Firstly we got Astalos, which is the rebel of the group, its color is green. Astalos embodies the First Generation being a Flying Wyvern and being found in the Forest and Hills (now Verdant Hills) near Kokoto, the village from the very first Monster Hunter. Its design is quite amazing, as it combines insect traits, with iridescent, semitranslucent wings, spiky legs and an earwig-like tail, its different insect-like parts charge with electricity as it attacks, a perfect reflection of its energetic and agressive nature. Its name in english comes from Astrapi (lightning in Greek) and -los to indicate it's the rival of Rathalos, which is much worse than its Japanese name Raizekusu (or Raizex for friends) which sounds way cooler, and is a combination of 雷 rai (thunder) and Insekt, the german word for, well, insect.

Secondly we got Gammoth, which is the big guy, the champion of the group, its color is blue. It embodies the Second Generation as a Fanged Beast, a class introduced in said generation, and is found in the Snowy Mountains (now Arctic Ridge) near Pokke, the village of MH Freedom 2 and Freedom Unite. This massive behemoth is based on a mammoth and also combines beasts from Greek mythology like hecatoncheires and cyclops, inspiring its weird armored head and and eye-like markings of its shoulders. Fight wise it covers its legs with snow and then tries to crush its enemies, as well as using its trunk as a versatile ranged weapon, however due to its enormous size with barely any back defense, its fight is possibly the easiest of the four. Lore confirms that its deep hatred for Tigrex is a result from childhood trauma (amazing). Its etymology is pretty straightforward, being a combination of the Hindu elephant god Ganesha and mammoth.

Thirdly we have Mizutsune, which is the girl (yes thats an archetype) of the group, its color is pink (cuz girl!!!!). It embodies the Third Generation as a Leviathan, a class first seen in our beloved wet MH3, and inhabits the Misty Peaks near Yukumo, which had never appeared in the west because it was only featured in MH Portable 3rd. This monster combines different traits from foxes, weasels, carps/goldenfish and snakes to create a really beautiful design. Mizutsune fights by secreting a soap-like substance to create bubbles, this slippery foam increases its movility while hindering that of its rivals, its gracefulness and agility allow it to face even powerful threats like Zinogre, using its giant brush-like tail as main weapon. Its etymology is pretty obvious if you are a bit of a weeb, "Mizutsune" is a combination of the Japanese words for water 水 mizu and fox 狐 kitsune, originally its Japanese name is Tamamitsune, which uses Tamamo-no-Mae, the legendary woman from the Japanese fairytale of the same name, instead of water.

And lastly we got Glavenus! The leader of the group obviously, its color is red, altho at first glance it may appear to be blue. Surprisingly, Glavenus is not the first fire-breathing Brute Wyvern that uses its tail as a sword, if you know your monsters you will know that Abiorugu from MH Frontier, while completely different, has these core traits too. In any case, Glavenus is still a really good design, who doesn't love a Carnotaurus with a giant blade as a tail that lights up like a 1000 degree knife? Its flame-shaped shell and horns also become red when enraged which give it a very fiery look, everything about its design screams fire. Interestingly, it is also mentioned in interviews that Glavenus was intended to be a land Rathalos, which would explain why it hates Rathian so much. Despite all of this, I still find odd that the monster that is supposed to embody the Fourth Generation is not from a class introduced in it (we need more Snake Wyverns!), overall it's the only monster in the group that does not really embody its generation all that well, but that's fine, we still love the top contender of the Jurassic Frontier (I guess Cretaceous Frontier was too long). In terms of etymology, "Glavenus" is a combination of the latin words Gladius (blade) and Fervens (burning) plus -saurus (cuz it's a dinosaur), while in Japanese Dinobarudo is a combination of Dinosaur, Nova and Halberd.

So that is all! Four banger monsters in one go, which one is your favorite? Do you also pray every night for Gammoth to return in the future or that it will remain forgotten like Gigginox? I really hope people find these ramblings interesting lol

I really love the MHW and FFXIV crossover where you get to fight Behemoth in MH and Rathalos in FF but also I think it would have been really really funny if the event quest had you going up against Nidhogg.

Heavensward would have been over in 24 hours if the hunter was there.

Sooooo many. I'm a huge multishipper and there are just so... Many... Possibilities....

At the top of my list for now are maybe... Mh. For atla, tyzula, zutara, azulaang, azutara, sokkla, tyluko, zhaozai, yueko, yukka,... I want to write some anidala and some dustbunny and todomomo, I'd like to write some michloe and michaella and cloecifer and mazeve and maybe mazifer from lucifer? I do like rhaenicent and i want to explore haelena/aegon or maybe aemond. Oh, rhaena/maegor too. Umm, from AOT there's historia/eren maybe annie/mikasa and annie/armin. I like levihan, or levi/erwin/hange... Ohhh and zeke and pieck too, reiner/historia, gabi/falco. I cant believe i havent said a single m/m ship so far LOL. Jeaneren! Levizeke, god how could i forget about zekehange Umm, i like the concept of mystique/magneto from the xmen, i wanted to write something for viktor novikov/dalia margolis from hitman. There's of course the whole mcyt scene, scarian, dreamnoblade (okay i really really need to get to this one), drunz, oh I wanted to write something about cletho at some point. Gemscar... Boat boys... And hazbin! I like static moth, radiostatic, i like alastor/charlie and the vees poly, angel/val in a way too though i'm not sure id call that a ship. Oh, cherry and pentious are very cool too.

And now for the behemoth there, tma, lol. I'd like to be writing some jontim, jonsasha, timsasha, haven't really done martinelias yet but yeah, that. Elias melanie, melanie georgie, daisira, jon/daisy/basira? Daisy/elias. Parasight. Jonah and all of his regency bfs, plus simon, oh and also the original elias. ummm jon/melanie, jon/georgie, basira/sasha, annabelle and some combination of jon and elias. Michael/sasha! And jon/michael, actually. Agnes Montague and literally anyone. Save me. Help.

Anyways... Yeah... These are the things i like and i... Probably... Missed some. Oops.

H: How would you describe your writing style?

Very wordy and long winded and precise, I know this is probably something to criticise about it but honestly i like it its mine and i want my reader to know EXACTLY what the blorbo is feeling. Idk. I've been told it's pretty emotional and dramatic too!

She addresses not the owner of such immense middle, but rather the sack of lard itself, poking and prodding what she could reach of it in playful manner, cuddling against Patchouli's flabby back, her own hefty gut rubbing into.

Still... she does calm down a little, enough to give Patchy's poor heart a break, tugging at the purplenette's clothes to free as much of her body as possible... seemingly uncaring about the near-nudity.

"Sorry~ You're just too fun not to play with, Pache'... Hungry? Thirsty? Can I help~? Sakuya-san is in the middle of something with Onee-sama... so she won't come for a while, mh~"

Now only left in her undergarments the meek girl was at the whim of Flandre's desires, powerless as the vampire referred to hedonistic behemoth of a protruding middle with a mind of its own and not possessor of it.

With her poor heart beating off beat to rhythm Patchy look down at her size, taking in the true extent of her sweat-ridden form... Or how much as physically possible as Flandre pressed up against her, their oily skin rubbing against one another. It sort of looked like vanilla ice-cream when in a state like that, causing the witch's mouth to drool a little.

Shaking her head Patchouli knew that she could seriously use a cold shower right about now to momentarily get rid of these gluttony-fueled thoughts... and also a meal but not with Flan-chan around...

"I-ihh'm.. hhhmmmmph... fiihnneeh-" The purplenette barely even started her sentence before her noisy gut roared to life, betraying and contradicting what she was gonna say. Begging, pleading to be stuffed like a turkey...

If only Koakuma wasn't on a vacation right now, Ms. Knowledge could've use her demonic assistance as a perfect scapegoat.

Oh yeah…some Monsters from other universes did show up in the MH World, Leshen included. There’s also some Behemoths in the Elder’s Recess, namely Eorzean Behemoths, so…yeah.

The actual locals also are no chumps. A Kushala Daora passing by is enough for a strong windstorm to appear, for example.

…I saw a Rajang rip a Kirin in half….. they can’t see or hurt me but still scary.

alright I'm trying to knock out some layered armor quests, at least the ones I can do without the guiding lands

I'm not even gonna TRY the behemoth quest until I've at least done some arch tempered elder quests. I don't even think I've defeated ONE tempered elder 💀 and I still struggle with lunastra but tbf she sucks so that's technically not my fault

for deaths stench I think I'll be okay? wanna try a tempered vaal before just to see but. I've fight vaal hazak more then any of the other elders so I'm pretty used to that by now

I actually haven't attempted the barioth fight in a LONG time so I think I'll give it a shot again, worst case I'll fire a flare lol

The Monster Hunter World x FF XIV collab was similar. Neat concept, cool fights adapted into each game (though MHW did a much more impressive job, the Behemoth was epic) but my gosh, the MH gear they made up for XIV was just awful. Like, they didn't even adapt ANY of the iconic MH gearsets, not even Rathalos armour, even though YOU FIGHT RATHALOS. They MADE UP their own version of "MH" inspired gear which was terrible and not at all what fans wanted. You do get Rathalos as a mount, which was pretty cool, but as a big fan of the gear, I was disappointed.

Also, XIV fans would have ATE up the classic Bone Armour.

the mh x ffvii ever crisis collab was cool and all but i can't help but feel like they could have picked some more. um. iconic outfits
