Maximilien is not an ally or champion to his fellow Omnic's rights, not by a large mile. His focus is on himself.

But, he does have a softer spot for his fellow Omnic, and cares about if they are using their life well, like it's not something he'd go out of his way to alter if he thinks they're wasting it, but he would feel strongly about it.

To him the best thing his fellow Omnic can do is to live life by high standards common to humans, wealth, luxury goods, something that leaves a legacy (especially since Omnics cannot have children or create more of themselves, which as someone that cares a lot about legacy haunts Maximilien in ways he won't ever voice) Alongside things like having relationships, successful careers that stuff.

On the flip side he views the Omnics searching for spiritual meaning to be wasting their time, in Max's world view there is no deeper meaning to things, no way to prove Omnics have souls, that ultimately a better way to fulfill what Aurora/The Iris told them all is to chase for worldly goods.

Let me tell you about a sight test I had yesterday- the guy doing my pre-test knows about my interest in Frev. He's studying history in Uni (not Frev, as will become clear lol) and since my partner works in the same place, she's mentioned this to him/my Robespierre comic. Cue super funny yet torturous sight test:

The pre-test guy says as I sit down: "So, I hear you're a Sympathiser of the French Revolution, eh?"

Me, not knowing how to react to his emphasis on 'symphathiser': "uhhhh....it feels more complicated than that. I mean which year are we talking about exactly?"

Pre-test guy: "Heh yes, yes of course." Then he pauses to do pre-test stuff.

I haven't been tested for glasses for almost 10 years and I'm autistic so I'm just trying to listen to his instructions and Get Through This when he bombards me with:

"I haven't read much about The Terror...But you tell me, do you think Robespierre was responsible for The Terror?"

Me totally unprepared and trying to remember to stare at some green flashy dot:

"uuh, not entirely.'" (in my mind: "A little bit? But there was an entire government that voted in laws? There was quite a lot of people involved?? Some did more than others??? He wasn't there for some of it cos he got sick????")

The pre-test guy: "Huh. Well I disagree. Okay let's sit you in this other chair now and can you-"

And thus proceeded another five minutes in which I desperately wanted to explain and discuss so many things but was too busy having air blown into my eyes and really struggling to pay attention to instructions because "Huh. Well I disagree" and "I haven't read much about The Terror" were swirling around inside my head.

I rlly love that ship, truth be told- but at first thought of it as nothing more than fanon content .

I've defenetely changed my stance since then.

When SJ first wrote to Robespiere, he instantly compared him to God, and Max kept the letter, even though what Antoine was asking for in it was a bit silly and selfish. So he must've been intrigued by the person who wrote the letter. Then, they got to know eachother in real life. Isn't it funny ? Both of them had something that the other lacked. Saint Just, for example, was full of vigor- while Maxime is described to have been lacking it. But, he had more rationality than his counterpart, and prevented him from making his speeches too extreme.

Well, until 1793-1794. Robespierre was growing more and more paranoid (but still trusted Antoine, mind you) and hysterical. He lashed out at SJ too. The latter, ofcource, stood his ground in the arguments- but NEVER turned away from the man.

And it's apparent that Maximilien was using him, too. Be it because he was too sick to deliver a speech, or to not have the blood o his hand, he did. Antoine realized that, and voiced the fact that he was highly against it. They fall out with eachother horribly.

Then Thermidor happens.

Now, SJ would still be arrested, even if he'd try to distance himself from Robespierre, and technically didn't volunteer to get arrested alongside Maxime...Or did he ?

We all know that he did have a chance. He was still young, and all it would take was to submit his speech to the Committee, yet he didn't.Also, according to an overwhelming amount of accounts, he was deadly calm in the face of his arrest, and even before the guillotine.

He knew what was to come.

So, there is my main point- even through all their arguments in their last months, there was a subtle connection between them. An invisible string tying their fates together.Even the closest of friends don't have that.It sounds beautiful, but if you think deeper about it, it's terrifying-

Saint Just knew what will come, as I mentioned.

There was a better option for him.

And yet he chose the worst one, because Robespierre was to follow it.

Antoine did so willingly.

He simply gave in

He chose to go down.

Just if it meant to be with Maximilen.

obviously. fgo dantes is bad for your mental health if youre looking for reprieve and soft comfort with sweet dreams, if youre looking to be told that what youve done is enough, you dont have to fight, its alright, just sleep, trust in me, call my name with a sigh when youve exhausted everything, you can just dream a sweet dream as you fall into the abyss. its okay, you can cry, you must feel, you must never let go of your emotions. the bonds you have will pull you up again and again because they existed and will continue to exist for as long as you remember them. we have Servants like kiara and oberon for that. but for dantes getting thrown into prison and being accused of treason broke him, losing everyone he loved in the process broke something inside him but also remade him anew- into a different person separate from edmond dantes the good sailor and mate of the pharaon. so ofc no doubt hes insane and would pull the same but different kind of crazy on you.

he can and will hurt you and himself if it means you get to move forward and achieve the future you want with your own hands. he will make sure and set things up that you grasp it yourself. even if its also at the cost of the blood of those you love (those people may not be real, but they were alive no matter how you look at it). but you CANNOT deny his sheer impact and capacity to be your greatest motivator, YOUR hypeman, your NUMBER ONE BEST supporter in MOVING FORWARD. dantes literally took up a janitor job and has been doing it for YEARS all because he cares about his accomplice and its a shitty job considering the sheer amount of vile things that get absorbed into guda's head that literally requires a few people to fight off.

so jalter is right he really isnt that far off from being the same malignant information plaguing guda, living in their head, fighting the same malignant information being absorbed into them throughout the lostbelts but its just that it was dantes who decided to protect and remain instead of disappearing outright post-prison tower. he still protects but his brand of care can come off as terrifying and also as usual even in the book he keeps certain info for himself so people like maximilien are left helpless and in the dark after valentine 'died' bringing the guy at his lowest and making him the happiest upon seeing her again in the ending. so, just like a flame, his love can definitely hurt but in the end he just wants those he cares about to be happy

But their brother, Calvin, goes to Crystal Prep.

They keep their same personalities as the Royal AU Version of them.

So yeah... Maximilien is insane and extremely smart. Also the Cupbros are still extremely magical.

The newly released The Count of Monte Cristo (the limited series) stills [x]

It looks like we're getting some scenes at the opera, as the first one appears to be the count sitting in his box. Good. Or more than good, awesome! (Not sure if the woman sitting in the next box is an extra or someone involved in the story. Countess G, perhaps?)

The second one is the count studying some papers at the library. I can't remember any corresponding scene from the book (I forget more than half of what I read/watch), likely it's him looking up info on his enemies. It gives the hot professor role I'd like to see Sam in, but let's not get derailed.

The third one has been around since last year; as I said, Jeremy Irons is a good choice for abbe Faria, he looks like he stepped out of the pages of the book!

Then, it's Edmond and Faria in prison. I think we can trust the two actors giving it their best, and I'm sure their scenes together will be memorable. In the French film, Edmond and the abbe meeting each other for the first time was the most emotional scene.

The next one is the count on a horse, which can mean absolutely anything. The setting seems to be quite desolate, or maybe it's just winter/early spring (I know nothing of France's landscape). He's wearing the same outfit as in the library one, as far as I can see, and he's looking at something in the distance. My first thought was that it's the trip to Normandy, my second that it's how he met Luigi Vampa, but I'm probably wrong and it's something entirely different.

Then, the duel, or not-duel, if they stick to the book. Shaking hands with Albert. Franz (I think?) in the background. Another character's shoulder is visible. It should be Maximilien, but who knows.

And the last one is the young idealistic Edmond arriving to Marseille on the Pharaon, entirely ignorant of the fate awaiting him.

least favorite character in your novel?

Ooh that's a hard one. In terms of characters that I didn't enjoy writing, I'd probably have to say any historical character that I wasn't super familiar with already. Fouche and Hebert kinda sucked to write about, not because they don't interest me but because I had to do the most outside research about them to incorporate into the story. Maximilien's grandparents also were kinda annoying to write because there is so little info on them.

As for what characters I dislike as characters, I mean, I'd have to go with the obvious answer: the Thermidorians. I mean they're the antagonists for the end of the novel and they're the ones who make the end sad

hello! since you're a history lover, I was wondering what historical facts/periods/events are some of your favourite and if there are any you like to talk with informant about?

Overall I think Seeker and Info would talk a lot about pre-roman civilisations like the Etruscans or the Iceni, as well as the religious practices and beliefs of these populations. It is quite reminding of Darkwood's own history with the "Stars' People" and the numerous artifacts that were found and that confirm the presence of a prosperous civilisation thousands of years before the city they know today was founded.

As for me personally, my favourite topics to study are a bit miscellaneous, but how could I have it any other way when literally everything is an object of study !!

Now I have mostly studied French History, since it is where I live. My favourite period to study is the whole of the Middle Ages, but most particularly the period of the monastic and Gregorian reforms, as well as the establishment of the Peaces of God, which in my opinion is basically a form of medieval Geneva convention. I also love studying courtly love and its parts of truth and legend in society.

The historical figures I find most interesting to study are Hildegard von Bingen, Nicolas Fouquet, Joan of Arc, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, Napoleon I, Charles de Gaulle, Maximilien de Robespierre, Charlotte Corday, Lenin and Stalin.

I also like studying the different kinds of medieval combat gear, and the evolution of armors, and the different kinds of swords.

On a more contemporary note, I recently found an interest in wine counterfeiting between the late 19th century and the 1930's. Some recipes of those contained pokeweed for the coloration, if you know about pokeweed then you know that humans cannot digest it. Also some Californian counterfeiters used boxes labeled in French so that when the ships arrived in New York, it was thought that the wine really arrived from France. Feel free to research more about the subject, it's both fascinating and disgusting to know about the ingredients.

I also love reading about more somber theories, like whether Madame de Montespan actually had black masses performed on her to try to regain Louis XIV's affection, or the various identities attributed to the Man in the Iron Mask.

On en est au chapitre 3 du "Dernier Ts'lich", toujours dans le tome 1 des Mondes D'Ewilan (la forêt des captifs). Je rompt la pause dans ma lecture <3 (il est 3h du matin lol mais les gens sont bruyants dehors)

- Si ça avait pas été dit ça se redit : l'ascension de Manuel en tant que personnage se ressent ! Son sort te met une boule dans le ventre...

- Les rappels constant de Bottero que ses personnages sont des badass qui massacrent n'importe quel adversaire à la bagarre c'est mignon

- ils lui ont vraiment retourné son monde à Maximilien maintenant il a moins de fringues et sa cave est presque vide 😭 mais aussi marrant comment Bottero réintroduit à peu près tous les personnages à travers ses yeux de type qui connait rien à leurs backstory mais qui peut sentir leurs vibes. Il avait fait la même chose avec Ewilan et Salim en fait.

- Est-ce que c'est LÀ le moment où Ewilan devient vraiment Ewilan et cesse d'utiliser "Camille" ? Et c'est même pas son pov (mince en revenant sur mes pas j'ai aucune idée de quand ça change en fait 😵‍💫)

- En fait soudainement je me demande si Ewilan pourrait dessiner un pistolet et l'utiliser en Gwendalavir. Probablement pas sauf si Eléa est conne et y a pas pensé mais bon c'est une idée !

- info intéressante sur Éléa comme quoi elle aimait théoriser sur les usage de l'imagination plus que l'utiliser. Elle aurait dû faire chercheuse-enseignante la pauvre.

heres some overwatch facts maximilien is in a comic called masquerade . just fyi........ && in that comic you find out that omnics arent actually allowed to gamble in some places which i think is baloney like i get they can do the math for probabilities but so can everyone . it does not mean they will be right

Henriette... What do we know about her?

Not alot unfortunately, I've done alot of digging too. Like I've said before, I adore this entire family to pieces. As far as I can tell Charlotte and Henriette were close, but it isn't surprising given they were together like Maxime and Augustin.

Henriette passed away when she was 18 while away with Charlotte at the place where they were being schooled- there is a death certificate and I believe we know where she's buried. But unfortunately I couldn't find why. But for her to live to be a young adult I have the feeling she became ill/caught something that she just couldn't fight off which was common enough that I feel it makes sense.

Henriette's death already make the very close Robespierre siblings even closer however, that's for sure, and it makes me think about how often they lived together/very near to each other and if there was perhaps any anxiety that played a part in that 🤔

Also a tiny tidbit- in his poem that he wrote in her honor after her passing Maxime refered to Henriette's "raven tresses" so it would seem she had dark hair like Charlotte. She also could have been pale, but that might have also been Maxime being dramatic with wording 😂
